hi keysie! i dnt use tumblr like at all but i recently just finished reading the horcrux hunt n the missing link and boy do i hve thoughts i need to share. listen, ur writing is absolutely phenomenal n i cannot stop thinking abt it morning, noon n night. the way u write the friendship between regulus n remus has me crying n laughing all at the same time. they care abt each other sm. it feels so real to me. i love them so so so much.

honestly, i wasnt sure how i felt abt the platonic kissing at first but as i read on i get it. the way u portray their dynamic it js fits so well. i literally adore the way they talk to each other n ive honestly hvent found any other works like it. im so glad they had each other during the war and everything.

some aspects of their friendship tht rlly hve my heart/stuck w me:

- the fact tht regulus starts questioning his view of everything bc remus came into his life !!

BUT LIKE NOW THEYRE HOLDING HANDS !! honestly i love how reg treats harry, their interactions has my heart. if i were james n i saw reg n my son interacting, id already be a gooey puddle on the floor, james has quite the self control. tho considering it is physically impossible for it to happen, i think he has already metaphorically melted into a gooey puddle on the floor.

lastly the part where remus was talking abt how haz takes after all the four of them. one of my favourite moments honestly.

i think the platonic kissing was a bit of a wild ride for us all and i think some folks were a bit worried it wouldn't come across as platonic because it feels like such a romantic thing but i think once we got used to it it just became *their thing* you know?? and i love it so so much i love them and they love each other i love their dynamic so much

i love your list of faves <3 i just love the concept of people having fave things and moments it makes me sooooo happy. i think our faves are quite similiar, reggie doing the wolfsbane trial defo for me. the first night they got drunk together in reggie's flat is also close to my heart<3 and of course reg seeing sirius for the first time in years and defending remus <3

peter was a tough one because i feel like canon implies he's just a coward but that's just. not enough for me, you know? and he's canonically a hat stall so i just love the idea he's actually this menacing creature that is so selfish and self centred that as soon as he thought he wouldn't be on the winning side of the war and voldemort had more to give him he just dipped. like how you can forsake your best friends of ten years you have to be a horrid person and a coward just doesn't cover that for me!!!!! but a person driven by selfish motivation their whole life, loyal to only themselves???? yes please

i LOVE lily i love sapphic lily but i LOVE the idea of jily being best friends. lily is so mature, much more mature - emotionally too - than the rest of them, especially the boys. it is a bit heartbreaking to not only give her unrequited love for her best friend but then to kill alice.... such an ouch i wont lie. but i love her. and i'm really excited for her future in this series too, i didn't just want to shove her into a relationship like she's got trauma to get over healthily and a kid and everything she deserves a proper arc <3

so i found my original next gen character list with a bunch of ocs, most of which i don’t use anymore, while working on another post. while working on that post i realized i haven’t made any friends for dominique and she has no cousins in her year (with my hc ages) so i repurposed some ocs as her friends and here they are

devyn, like his father marcus flint, absolutely lives and breathes quidditch. if y’all have seen some of my past posts you know i ship marcus x penelope clearwater and devyn is the oldest of their two kids. (penny hates quidditch, but devyn followed her into ravenclaw, so she tolerates his rambling.)

devyn has a younger brother, cedric (named after cedric diggory, ofc), who’s a second year slytherin. devyn and cedric are two of percy weasley and oliver wood’s godkids.

devyn plays chaser for ravenclaw’s team and becomes captain after the current captain, aisley, graduates. he’s dating dylan and has been since 3rd year.

dylan is mr. unathletic goody two-shoes, but he loves watching quidditch more than almost anything.

dylan is technically muggleborn because neither of his parents are magical, but his mum is a squib and he grew up in her magical pureblood family.

dylan and dom were actually friends first. they met in the library and dylan dragged devyn and his naturally very extroverted personality into the group after that. winter was simply one of their dorm mates and another nerd who bonded with dylan over some history thing probably, and the rest is history.

"I-am-never-letting-you-come-near-me-ever-again!" Ginny yelled from the labour room in St Mungo's Maternity, where she lay currently pushing out a baby but also grabbing onto Harry's black hair, her sentence punctuated with sharp breaths.

"You're doing so well Gin, just a tiny bit more!" Harry tried to smile but it felt more like a wince. Finally, what felt like an eternity and half to both of them, a baby's cries pierced the room.

"Congratulations, it's a baby boy! We'll get him cleaned up before bringing him back." The midwitch smiled before conjuring up a trolley like crib with the wave of her hand and placed the baby in it. Harry looked on, amazed and didn't stop staring until the baby was wheeled out of the room.

"I'm so proud of you Gin. Thank you for this. You're the strongest." Harry kissed her sweaty hand which was trapped in his. Ginny faintly smiled, her blazing red hair tied into a messy bun and her fringe sticking onto her forehead.

"You better be, pushing out a baby is no ordinary feat, even for a witch." She chuckled lightly. Harry was about to say more reassuring words when the baby was brought back in, and placed right next to the mom and dad.

"Have you thought of a name for him?" The midwitch asked.

Harry and Ginny looked at each other, before he said. "James Sirius Potter."

This was four months ago. James Sirius now lay in his crib, happily laughing at the magical mobile which Ron and Hermione bought along for their nephew. Harry and Ginny sat on the sofa, watching him.

"Why does it feel like longer than a few months? I knew babies could be exhausting, but this much?" Ginny said, but her face showed the faintest amusement.

"They are worth it though, wouldn't you say?" Harry said, but looks like he spoke too soon, because James Sirius burst out crying right at that moment. Ginny started getting up to tend to him, but Harry placed a hand on her shoulder. "I'll get him. You try to relax." He smiled before walking up to the red haired baby, who was practically screaming.

He lifted James Sirius up carefully, who was wrapped adorably in a maroon blanket with the tiniest 'Js' in golden. "What is it, huh? Daddy's here." Harry cooed, as James Sirius stared up at him with the greenest eyes he'd seen. Exactly like his, and his mother's. He quietened down immediately, his eyes shining brilliantly.

Ginny walked up to the duo and placed her arms around Harry, looking down at the baby. Harry looked at her while slowly swaying James Sirius who seemed to be enjoying the comfort. He placed him back down into his crib and quietened the mobile which now played a faint lullaby.

"You're a natural at being a dad." Ginny said adoringly, now moving to Harry's front.

"And so you've been saying since the past 4 months."

"No but really, look at how instantly James quietens down, as soon as he gets into your arms. I'm his mother but he doesn't quieten down that easily with me." Ginny chuckled but Harry could tell she felt a slight sadness.

"It's fine Gin. You're the one who carried him for 9 months and then pushed him out of you. I think you should give yourself a bit more credit than that. And so should James." Harry closed his arms around her waist, bringing his forehead down to hers. He kissed Ginny, finding himself falling in love all over again with her.

She was so strong- he found himself falling more for her, if it was possible. They pulled away and opened their eyes to see James Sirius staring up at his parents, but suspiciously quietly. He might have had the smallest hints of a smile.

"So you're smirking, little man, are you?" Harry said as Ginny picked James up who was giggling delightfully. Harry sat back down on the sofa, smiling as Ginny swayed and did a mini waltz with James Sirius, who just could not stop laughing every other second.

Ginny kept looking at Harry in between, absorbed with both her boys. She pulled Harry up with his arm, motioning to join in on their waltz. He complied, waving the tiny boy's chubby hands around, making baby sounds at him. He saw Ginny and James Sirius laugh almost identically- the same, broad grin which instantly warmed Harry's heart.

As he sat back down and continued watching his wife and son play happily. He was content with his life, and he hoped it would stay this way for another eternity and half.

potter children headcanons

here’s some personal headcanons about james sirius, albus severus and lily luna i wrote after some next gen talk in the wolfstar server! 

james sirius: my JS is more alike my james the first than i might want to admit, but hopefully not in a cliche way. i just think of both of them as “sunny”, warm people: they’re extroverts, yes, but not just loud and brash. i see JS as someone who truly cares about his loved ones and will go through great lengths to make them feel it. he might not be the best at talking about his own feelings, though, especially when it comes to negative ones. i think he deals with harry’s legacy by brushing off the shitty things the press says about him, or even stepping in front of his siblings and making faces to the cameras so lily and especially albus will be spared. that might give him a reputation of being shallow and an attention seeker, especially because he might not do too well academically. i do think he’s smart, though. i like the idea of him memorising things easily, but only actually studying for subjects he likes. he doesn’t mind getting average grades on stuff he doesn’t care for. so yes, the press calls him pretty but dumb, and even though he’s very good at pretending it doesn’t affect him, he’s still worried his parents might be disappointed. i think he is the closest to ginny, out of the three siblings. i like the idea of him playing quidditch. they have the same “fierce” energy, too. if he ever plays professionally, i see his biggest insecurity being disappointing his mum. he thinks the world of her, and it only grows stronger as he matures and learns more about her as a person. his relationship with harry is good, too, because he’s never been a difficult kid (not in an emotional way, at least), and they communicate fairly well. harry is not the best at picking up when james is not at his best at first; maybe he’d get “moody” sometimes as a kid and harry had a hard time figuring out what to do since james wasn’t usually like that. as he grows, i can see him being close to his dad, especially once he realises his parents will love him no matter what. also: stubborn, prankster, good at charms and flying. not good at losing or dealing with rejection and definitely bottles up feelings he doesn’t know how to go about. (gryffindor for sure! second house is hufflepuff)

albus severus: that shy kid who almost only wants his mum for the first year or two. it breaks harry’s heart because james made a connection with him almost instantly and al would cry when his dad picked him up. i can see harry being very persistent about it, though. he would have asked molly for help, asked hermione to find books and even talking to a muggle paediatrician. eventually, al would learn to trust him too. i think in many ways he’s the opposite to james and that’s complicated sometimes. james would have tried to pull him out of his shell and he would get defensive. that could apply for when they were very young, but also later on, in school. i can see it reaching a point where james would try to get him to go out and see people/make friends and he would get offended, thinking that james was embarrassed that his brother was not as cool/popular as him. maybe they drift apart in their early years in hogwarts. he’s the one who deals the worst with the comparisons to harry. they’re the most alike physically (that’s one CC head canon i like!), and while james would laugh off the stuff people said about him and his dad, albus would always feel like not being like harry meant not being good enough. it takes him a while to understand that it doesn’t matter if he does exactly what harry would, that his father will still love him. i also think that the fact that he’s more of a sensitive type of person makes it difficult to connect to ginny in some levels, when they’re older. they love each other a lot and i can see ginny defending al like a badass lioness with her cub, but then when he grows up they have less in common and that’s okay. he might be close to uncle ron and auntie hermione. maybe ron teaches him how to play chess and he’s really good at it. he and aunt hermione share a passion for books and social justice. so: sensitive (which sometimes becomes a weakness), book-smart and competitive. likes to get good grades and to be praised by professors. might have a hidden talent like painting or drawing. (slytherin! ravenclaw as a second house, maybe. but i think he’s very much of a slyth. likes books, yes, but he wouldn’t be the best at solving ravenclaw tower’s puzzles)

lily luna: the closest to harry! i don’t like the phrase “daddy’s girl”, but maybe it’s something like that. i don’t think harry and ginny were expecting a third kid so close to their second, but i think harry was over the freakin’ moon to be having a girl. also while the boys had to deal with the comparisons to their dad, lily had to deal with being ginny’s daughter and lily the first’s granddaughter. i like the idea of desi potters, so she might not look that much like her paternal grandmother, but people mentioned her a lot when LL was growing up. in terms of personality, i see her being closer to albus than to james. her being different than ginny is a headcanon i like not only because it breaks an expectation, but because mother/daughter relationships are already hard, and since she’s growing up surrounded by the press, there is always be a shitty journalist ready to pick on her clothes, or her appearance, or to dig up pictures of her mum at her age to point out how much better ginny looked. i think even their body type is different, and that it matters a lot. lily doesn’t feel good enough because her mum is this amazing woman and she doesn’t trust her dad to “give it to her straight” because he will always tell her she’s the prettiest girl in the room. so her and ginny take a long time to figure out where they stand. lily gets a little lost in the boys’ dynamics, but both of them love her and take care of her in their own way. she’s not as averse to people as al, so she played with james when they were younger and then went out to parties with him when they were older. she also enjoyed quiet time with al, and talking about everything and nothing with him. it’s al she tells most of her secrets, not james, and james is jealous of it sometimes. even though it takes her some time, i think she does grow up to be just as much as a BAMF as ginny, but in her own way. she’s good at potions and transfiguration and has this kind of systematic/big picture intelligence that is pretty rare. (i LOVE slytherin lily luna, but i can also see her as a gryffindor. i think she’s ambitious when it comes to proving herself and showing what she’s made of, and that can go either way)

This is something my brain came up with and I didn't wanna forget it so I wrote down. I usually don't post the idea part but I figured this would turn out to be a really long fic so I wanted to know if anyone would actually want to read this. Note: this is very VERY sloppy and disorganized as i wrote it down as quickly as possible to just get the idea out. Marauders Era y/n black goes into the future, comes across future Remus (love interest) who's like "who tf are you and why do you look y/n black when we were younger" and she's js like... what and then it clicks in his head bc he remembers when she time traveled and he takes her into his office and she makes fun of him for being a teacher then Harry walks into Lupins office and she's shocked at how much he looks like James and he recognizes her from an old picture he saw of his dad and his friends and is like "u look like one of my dads old bsfs, are you her daughter" and Remus is like "Yeah her name is y/n Jr., y/n is her mother blah blah blah blah" then Harry's like "maybe ur mom could tell me stories of my dad" and Remus is like "her mom disappeared when your parents died" and it shocks y/n bc James is dead and she's missing so she stumbles out of the office and is like "I'll let you guys talk privately" and she passes by students who are whispering and they mention Sirius blaxk and she's like, what abt him? And they hand her the news paper that says he escaped Azkaban and she like wtf so after she sees Harry walk out she storms in and is like "tell me everything that happened." And he's like "I'm assuming you know almost everything already" and she's like "what abt wormtail? Is Peter okay" and he tells her and then she asks abt regulus which breaks her heart and then she asks abt herself and he talks abt how she went missing after James and lily died. And then before she leaves she asks if he and her ever had something with each other and he raises his left hand where a wedding ring sits with a smile and she's like "we got married?" And he's like "Yeah it was a double wedding with James and lily" and she smiles and then leaves blah blah blah then she comes back with tears in her eyes and for the young marauders it had only been a second and they're like "You're back already! What happened, why are you crying?" And she just looks at them then starts walking to her dorm then Sirius grabs her arm and is like "y/n are you okay" and all she can imagine is his picture on the news paper and his crazed face and then she looks back to see James and she can't help but imagine him dead so she shakes off his arm and walks away.

Time skip to the present, y/n is with Bellatrix when Sirius died bc she "joined" the dark side but kept it super secret, not even Peter knew. When Sirius died she broke down to her knees and Bellatrix just left her and she sobbed and apologized to Sirius before he wisped away and he was like "ik ur intentions were pure" bc twin telepathy shit he knew why she joined and then Remus was kinda mad at her and was like "you knew, you knew everything that was gonna happen and yet you still join his side and now your brother is dead bc of u!"
