#kate plays flight rising
tfw you find a breeding project component with the exact colours you've been trying for for 4 years now (but on the wrong gender) almost immediately after having just hit the button to breed your two current components for that project.................
on the plus side, because this new component is a G1 and has no lineage, they're breedable with my pair's offspring!! so I can FINALLY get this damn thing over with quicker if I get a female hatchling with closer colours..... murk/bronze/peach ♀ you shall elude me no longeeeeeeeeeeeeeeer /shakes fist

The gorgeous girl who had spent the entirety of her first ten minutes in the tiny Edinburg pub being accosted by a toothless would-be thug gave herself away with her kindness and her patience more than her wide doe eyes and air of soft innocence. The Scottish underworld was ugly. Far too ugly for something as beautiful as her.
The only thing worse than being in the wrong place of the wrong part of town at the wrong time of night was not knowing who you were there with. The pretty stranger would find that out quickly if Rourke had enough sense to mind his own business. But when the thug put his hand on the woman after she tried to move away, the young O'Riain lost his senses completely.
"If you want to keep that hand, I suggest you remove it."
Both sets of eyes blinked at him and he tried not to linger on the stranger's pretty hazel. He leveled a hard stare to the goon, daring him to protest.
"What." The guy snorted, mocking. "You gonna cut it off?"
The thug rolled his eyes and Rourke felt that O'Riain switch flip deep down inside. In the next breath he put his pistol on the bar top between them and squared his shoulders. "I've done a lot worse for a lot less." He wasn't typically the bragging type but it was nothing but truth that he'd gotten to where he was the hard way, in the gutters doing the Family's dirtiest work. "Wanna try me?"
The guy muttered and mumbled, cursing the O'Riain name as he finally backed off and threatening something about how he also had powerful friends.
"Are you alright?" Rourke motioned to the bartender to refill the woman's drink and leave the bottle on the bar.
"He said that being a guest of the O'Riains made me valuable." The woman stared into the reflections of the dim bar lights on the shining bar surface as she talked. "He called me an asset." She swallowed audibly and Rourke sighed. Of course she was a guest.
"I don't know how you wandered here, miss but I'm going to have to take you back." Rourke drained his glass and slid a stack of bills, far more than what they'd dranks worth, across to the man behind the bar with a respectful nod as he pulled his tight leather bomber back on and shrugged his shoulders to adjust the fit. His fingers idly played with the zipper as he tried not to startle the girl but also resolved not to linger. "S'not safe outside the estate for guests of the Family this time a'night."
"I don't want to go back to the estate." Kate blurted without meaning to, then awkwardly adjusted her hair behind her ear and tried again. "I just wanted to see the lower town. After such a long flight I couldn't stand be cooped up again."
Their eyes met. Rourke studied the almost shifting colors in her hazel eyes. He tried not to trace the gentle slope of her nose or the full curve of her lips. Gods she was lovely.
Rourke checked his watch with a huff, shrugged and then held out a hand. "My name is Rourke O'Riain, by the way. And there's only one place I can guarantee your safety that we could go."
Edinburgh didn't have the world class high rises of modernity, all steel and glass. But the rest of the world didn't have Edinburgh's history either.
"No freaking way." Kate, as he'd finally learned, seemed to love the land as much as he did. She had her face pressed to the glass of his absurdly tiny sports car the entire drive up the Scottish coast to Castle Rock, the city's oldest and highest point. "You live here?"
"I have holdings." Rourke replied, tapping his fingers against the steering wheel as they idled, waiting for the massive iron gate tucked into one crook of the mountainside foothill slowly opened. "Family stuff."
He hoped that would suffice but couldn't help his little sigh. It was all a bit strange and he wasn't sure Skye would love her guest at one of their safe houses but at least he wouldn't have to explain away a firefight or get stuck burying more bodies any sooner than necessary.
"It's just for the night." Rourke's eyes were soft, softer than Kate expected even in the low light. It was all so much. They pulled into a spacious garage but Rourke motioned for Kate to sit tight until the massive steel doors sealed behind them. "Sorry about that." Rourke cleared his throat and swung open the driver's side door. He was at Kate's side just as she reached for the handle. "Protocol. We can go in now."
What seemed like a dark cavern slowly illuminated, as if the building itself had sensed their entrance and welcomed them with a soft warm glow. "There's more beds than you can imagine and the fridge and cellars are always full. You're welcome to help yourself to anything." Rourke stripped his jacket, leaving him in a tight white tee and tighter dark denim with pristine black leather boots. "Any guest of the family is family. If there's anything you need-"
"Anything I need?" Kate looked at Rourke like he'd grown another head. "You saved my life and brought me here and you're asking me if there's anything I need."
Rourke laughed, a warm sound that vibrated his chest. They both liked it. "Should I demand payment instead?"
He was joking, or at least he thought he was but the way her dark hair caught the moonlight streaming in through the sitting room's wide windows made his breath hitch.
"It'd be more reasonable than just this." Kate wrapped her arms around herself, clearly beginning to feel out of place and self conscious.
Rourke couldn't begin to imagine how strange her last 24 hours must have been. "I'll make you a deal, Katie." His blue eyes twinkled with the nickname. "I've decided that the cost of my saving your life should be a single kiss." He smiled at the shock in her eyes and the smile grew when she didn't immediately back down. "It's just a game. You don't owe me anything, Ka-"
"Okay." She blurted. "Okay. I'll do it." Her smile was small but she felt emboldened. "It's just a kiss, right."
"One kiss," he assured her.
Kate stepped closer, smiled and closed her eyes. What the hell, right.
Rourke smiled, tucked a lock of soft hair behind her ear, and dropped to his knees in front of her.
He chuckled as her eyes flew open and one of her soft hands found his shoulder. "Rourke- What?"
"Katie." Hed still stop if she wanted him to. He was pretty sure he'd do anything she wanted him to. But he bunched up her skirt in his hands and smiled up at her because he just had to try. "I never said where."

Gossip Girl Reboot 2x08: Quotes
- “Rise and shine, followers. They say the first 15 minutes of the morning can make or break any day. I suppose that depends on if you got up on the wrong side of the bed. Or perhaps you’re not getting out of bed at all these days. And to the early birds who managed to thrust themselves out into the world, I wonder what did you find?” (GG)
- “Always on the lookout for trends that feel timeless. And I’m usually so thorough with my background checks. (Luna) - My dating life isn’t the only thing I keep private.” (Romain??)
- “Were are my memes? (Monet) - Oh, they, uh, they exist. You don’t wanna see them though. Trust me. (Luna) - Okay. Well, now that you’re so visible, I’m back to being invisible, and it’s not fair. (Monet) - Who’s invisible? (Luna) - There she is slut-shamer!” (Student 1)
- “Uh, don’t we feel like forgery’s too far? Or...” (Aki)
- “The, uh, “traitors” section is in historical non-fiction.” (Audrey)
- “Then what was it? An optical illusion? Sorcery? (Audrey) - Sabotage. She saw your mom’s emails to the seamstress.” (Julien)
- “You know, people usually get arrested for doing this outside playgrounds. (Wendy) - And here we get paid. Your point?” (Kate)
- “Having it both ways. That always works out.” (Wendy)
- “Harvard’s all about connections, not just who you know, but who you can introduce them to.” (Kate)
- Oh, playing it both on and off the field now? (Wendy) - She doesn’t have to. It doesn’t have to be true. (Kate) - You’ve gone full Fox News. (Wendy) - Another DM from Audrey’s wicked stepmother. But it’s probably premium gasoline, so...” (Kate)
- “Well, if getting cancelled were fun, everyone would do it. Will you be the Andy to my Miranda Priestly just this once? (Luna) - Oh, honey, I’m already invisible. The best attribute for an assistant. And I would love a day away from this hellscape.” (Monet)
- “But hitting that first screening is... (Aki) - Your favorite tradition? I know. We do it every year, honey. (Audrey) - Yeah, but it’s Max’s first time. (Aki) - That’s a phrase I haven’t heard in years. (Max) - Well, in the spirit of the weekend, maybe leave the revenge plots to John Woo and Truffaut. Or Director Park. (Aki) - This is not about revenge. This is about redemption.” (Audrey)
- “Clearly, that’s still bothering you even though I told you I didn’t know who she was and was sad and lonely and, well, she is hot in a sadistic, Charlize-would-play-her way.” (Jordan)
- “Everyone knew what they were getting themselves into.” (Kate) - But you’ve changed it now. You’re... Well, you’re lying. Manipulating facts to sell stories. And worse, you’re addicted to it. (Jordan) - I can stop anytime I want. (Kate) - Said every addict everywhere. (Jordan) - I know what I’m doing. (Kate) - Prove it. Temporarily disable Gossip Girl, like you did when you got too close to the edge before. Take a couple days to get your head on straight.” (Jordan)
- “Partial credit. Shouldn’t you be thanking me? (Jessica) - For driving an even deeper wedge between me and my best friend?” (Julien)
- “For us both. I didn’t know you were coming to town. You could’ve at least called, Mami. (Luna) - Oh, mi amor. You know that I don’t love that word. Our relationship is not bound by rules of languages. Call me Lolo. And as for why I didn’t call... I’m swamped. Interview after interview. This trip has been all business, mi amor. Third on a call sheet is not a costar. That’s a day player.” (Dolores)
- “I should know better than to ask how you got these. (Zoya) - Just don’t run your finger across the ink for a bit, okay? You ready? Time to channel our Little Monster. (Shan) - Okay. Let me get this straight. You think Lady Gaga, Oscar Award winner and like mega superstar, is gonna want to help us with our little fight with an anonymous Instagram toll?” (Zoya)
- “Okay. So, what? We just wait here until she comes out? How are you gonna introduce us? (Zoya) - I think best when I force myself into fight or flight mode.” (Shan)
- “High school bullshit is so two years ago for me. It’s fine. It happens. It’s just, if you give that stuff too much energy, you end up missing out on things that actually matter. (Ingrid Lim) - Well, Audrey and Max matter to me. (Aki) - Of course, but so should you.” (Ingrid)
- “You had no choice, it’s your mother. And men can’t handle a pivot. Yet another reason I don’t date them.” (Monet)
- “I had no idea you two were related. (Eric) - Because she dropped Cruz so she can make a name for herself apart from me. Can you believe that?” (Dolores)
- “She’s jealous of you, Luna. (Monet) - What do you want me to do? I want you to stop dimming your light to make her feel better. She’s never going to respect you if you don’t stand up to her.” (Monet)
- “Maybe I could give her like... some book thing. A first edition Joyce Carol Didion or something. (Julien) - What? (Obie) - You can’t block someone on Goodreads, right? (Julien) - I cannot believe you just did that. You’re right. I’m not normally so involved in my one-week stands. This is our second week, though.” (Obie)
- “Thanks for meeting me. (Julien) - Since you roped Obie in, Dr. Menzies made me. Question. So, when you said you’d stay away from Jessica, did you think I meant Simpson or Alba or Chastain? (Audrey) - I only went to see her to tell her that I refuse to be associated with her any longer. Do I have your permission to do whatever it takes to do that?” (Julien)
- “No, you’re right. I didn’t. She did. Julien needs to learn that there’s consequences for her actions. (Audrey) - I thought you were choosing redemption over revenge? (Aki) - Why should I have to choose?” (Audrey)
- “These people get away with literal murder. You think they won’t kill a messenger? (Teacher) - They can’t if they don’t know who the messenger is. (Kate) - How much do you think Menzies would give me for your name? We are all underpaid and underappreciated. (Teacher) - She’s got a point. (AP teacher) - She has no points. She’s taking us in circles.” (Jordan)
- “The Foolian” is trending.” (Audrey)
- “Audrey and Max and I have this trip planned. (Aki) - Dud, who are you living for? You might be their partner, but are they yours? All I’m saying is you’re special, and if... if they can’t see that, at least you have to, right? Sorry. (Ingrid) - Sorry, uh, yeah. (Aki) - No. It was... It was wrong of me.I just wanted to do that last year, and I told myself I’d at least tell you, and instead of telling you.... (Ingrid) - No, it’s... it’s okay. (Aki) - I hope your partners do too.” (Ingrid)
- “I do have to admit, the bitch did look flawless on film. (Monet) - Well, she probably slept with the DP. (Luna) - What? (Monet) - My parents have an agreement so long as it benefits her lighting.” (Luna)
- “Harris cracked. You set me up? I was only trying to help you. But you never wanted that, did you? You just wanted to make me look bad. (Julien) - I asked you to stay out of my life, but you never listen. You always show up in the worst ways. I had to do something. Do you have any idea what right or wrong is anymore? You wanted her to step into that room and be around those people, those people who ruined her fucking life? (Audrey) - Those people includes your dad. And though he may not be the most gracious, or kind person right now, he’s... (Julien) - Selfish and cruel. He’s a lying, cheating thief. (Audrey) - Is this about me or you? (Audrey) - This is about us. (Julien) - You cannot fix everyone’s families just because yours is unfixable. Some people are just bad. You can’t see that by now? Or can you not since you’ve become one?” (Audrey)
- “Maybe we can pick her up a new heart. Hers no longer works. (Luna)  - Waste of time. She’d only break it. (Grandma) - Why is she like this, Grandma? (Luna) - It’s her nature. Women are supposed to support one another, but your mother only sees them as threat. I tried to warn your papa, but he was in love. He went along with her plan for you, and look. (Grandma) - A plan for me? What do you mean?” (Luna)
- “I knew it would end up like this, with me forced to see a vision of myself I could never get back. (Dolores) - You sent me to live with Yoli, Mamá. You could’nt stand being around me. Understand you chose your ego over your family? I do understand that, Dolores. I always have. I wish I didn’t. But now I know something else too. Something I won’t keep to myself.” (Luna).
- “You lost. I know how it feels. I’ve done it a lot. (Jordan) - I didn’t lose. My victory just got delayed. (Kate) - Just what exactly does this victory mean to you? My best friend gets one more month to be a monster and then she gets her soul back.” (Jordan)
- “I just love the movies, don’t you? Two hours in the dark where you can forget who you are... and pretend to be whomever you choose. But it ends when the lights come on. That is, unless you’re Dolores De La Cruz. Looks like Lady De La Cruz has curated an image built entirely on lies.” (GG)
- “But she’s anonymous. You can’t defeat anonymous.” (Obie)
- “Leaving without saying goodbye? (Romain??) - I don’t remember you saying hello. (Luna) - You’re right. I owe you an apology. (Romain??) - And I owe you one. So we’re even. (Luna) - It didn’t seem like the right time to introduce you. (Romain??) - Doesn’t seem like the right time for anything. At least, not right now.” (Luna)
- “I know what you all want. You want me to tell you that people will eventually do the right thing. That they’ll come around and listen to their better angels, or maybe even right their wrongs. But what if I said there are no better angels? Only devils and deals and the space in between? And you know what they say about dancing with the devil. Prepare to get burned.” (GG)
- “After GG cancelled Monet, there was a subtle shift in my daughter. A thank you here, an air of heretofore unseen humility there, but tonight she walked into my study, hugged me... and told me she loved me. It appears Gossip Girl has achieved what I have failed to accomplish in 16 years. To instill respect. She succeeded. Going forward, I ask that you and the other teachers continue to share your insights with Gossip Girl. In return, you’ll receive cooperation from me, in any way you need.” (Camille de Haan)

✫⌒ NEXTGEN FACTSHEET : UNA-JULIE
featuring : UNA-JULIE DIMALANTA (22... >.>), mysterious assistant of beatrix utonium
inspo : janet ( the good place ), m’gann m’orzz ( young justice ), starfire ( teen titans ), vision ( mcu ), bunny ( the powerpuff girls), the little prince ( the little prince ), mxmtoon’s rising album
song : haze, by mxmtoon
'Cause I'm lookin' for a feelin' And I look until I feel it With my hands in the air and clouds With my feet livin' on the ground
first impression : her eyes are wide because she wants to see as much as possible, she looks at you like she’s about to ask a billion questions and you hold all the answers, but most of all it feels like she’s empty until she interacts with someone. as if she’s always waiting to be noticed, or waiting for an invitation to exist.
summary :
una-julie was created by bria utonium as the result of an experiment to create someone/something that could finish off all of bria’s unwanted work. una-julie was … unexpected, to say the least. to cover their tracks, bria enlisted the help of their aunt beatrix. beatrix then organised for una-julie to have some papers and identification ( shout-out to nick wilde ), and they now live together as flatmates. una-julie also works with her in beatrix’s private investigation business. she does not accompany beatrix to do super-hero work. but she is always on standby just in case.
this is una-julie’s first time in elias (for purposes of connections, maybe she’s also been here a couple weeks before the nextgen event starts in november, to allow for any first meetings hehe).
no one else but bria, bryson, and beatrix know that una-julie was born from an experiment. as far as anyone knows, beatrix is just being beatrix for sharing rent with a 22 year old she hired (more on this in the full bio). she’s beatrix’s smiley, curious assistant who seems to have lived under a rock her whole life but also has wind powers and a crazy memory.
una-julie is technically a year old, but was born 21 years old. she has the powers of aerokinesis, as an echo of bria’s more powerful abilities, and is able to fly. she has a photographic memory and is also able to retain large amounts of information.
she loves musicals. she loves helping. she’s trying to figure out why it is she’s here now. she has a million questions and not enough answers. why does it the wind hurt when it blows against her? why are shoes so hard to put on? where else can she go if not earth?

Cable Playlist
This will be all over the place; STRAP IN.
❧ You Know Where to Find Me - Imogen Heap This song is about friendship and also about a river: soothing and healing, but also a terrifying and turbulent force of nature. There's something about the otherworldly, compassionate, dangerous, and very layered vibe of this song that I associate with Cable, a savior complex, with what it's like for Wade & co. to be close to him. Song really hits around Don't mistake my charity / For what it is / A deep need to be needed, necessary
❧ Wake Up and Smell the Coffee - The Cranberries Parenthood song in the context of both Tyler and Hope? ;_; (+☕)
❧ It's Called: Freefall - Rainbow Kitten Surprise Thought to give friends what I thought that they wanted / Never had they needed a good friend as I've been / Don't get me venting on friends who resent you / 'Cause all you've ever done is been a noose to hang on to / They thought was a necklace, and reckless, they fell into hell / Where you both hang with nothing to do but / Scratch, kick, let gravity win, like / Fuck this, let gravity win, like / You could leave it all behind / Even the Devil needs time alone sometimes / You could let it all go / You could let it all go / It's called freefall
❧ Nutshell - Alice in Chains We chase misprinted lies / We face the path of time / And yet I fight, and yet I fight / This battle all alone / No one to cry to / No place to call home
❧ Night of the Swallow - Kate Bush Song is an argument between a smuggler and someone telling him not to go on his next flight. Something about "Let me fly! Give me something to show for my miserable life!" from the smuggler, and his assurances that there's no risk ("Though pigs can fly, they'll never find me posing as the night"), always tickles my Cable radar.
❧ Army of Me - Bjork Technically this is not what the song is about at all, but there are great dystopian horror vibes here if you want them. Something awful happening while "You're on your own now / We won't save you" plays.
❧ Pitch the Baby - Cocteau Twins Potential Askani Clan vibes?? There's something here, I know it. (The direction I always go in for Askani vibes is Cocteau Twins and Bjork; this song just happens to be particularly catchy.)
❧ rise - Origa Peak "soldier savior from the future" vibes. (Great options all across the Ghost in the Shell franchise, really.)
❧ Bat Out of Hell - Meatloaf "According to Irene, if any one song described Cable, it was Meatloaf's 'Bat Out of Hell.'" This is an actually insane thing from canon and I love it. This song is cool and reckless and corny and exciting and wholehearted and I can fuck with that. Ridiculous. On a similar note, I can't lie, I have Blinded By the Light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band and Holy Diver by Dio on my Cable playlist, too.
❧ I wanted some distinctly schlocky "soldier savior from the future" songs on the playlist because that felt right. His design is so fun. There's a layer to it all that's colorful and shameless. The Nexus and Digital World by Amaranthe, Veil of Elysium, End of Innocence, and Revolution by Kamelot, Star of the Age by Shearwater, Blow Me Away by Breaking Benjamin, Utopia by Within Temptation.
❧ Style - Foster the People brazenness
❧ BLOODMONEY - Poppy I enjoy this just as a ~vibes~ song for potential futures where Cable is evil. (War!Cable, overrun-by-TO!Cable, etc.) There's probably a SOPHIE song out there that would be perfect for this as well.
❧ A Bad Dream - Keane War grief. I think of a story he recounts somewhere in the 90s about trying to save an enemy combatant...
❧ Where Do We Draw the Line - Poets of the Fall What does tomorrow want from me? / What does it matter what I see? / If it can't be my design / Tell me where do we draw the line?
❧ Tired - Su Lee Crumbling workaholic. Bloodshot eyes in the dark / Is this even worth it? I don't know / I'm tired / Wish I could go back in time / To when I was a baby / Gotta gotta go back to work / Gotta gotta go back to work / Gotta gotta go back to work
❧ They make sense in my head and ymmv but I have run out of comments: Duvet by Bôa, Not Strong Enough by boygenius, Talkin' Bout a Revolution by Tracy Chapman, Michael Myers Resplendent by The Mountain Goats.
Send me more ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Tasting Notes
Everytime I spin I learn something. The first thing I learned tonight was show up earlier, and make sure the gear is in working order. Second thing I learned was that I need to learn about the board. Still, I made fewer technical errors than ever before, and some of the segues were quite good. But, the baseline is: did you do damage to the vibe?
The opening was fraught with technical miscues, bad volume control, but thanks to Julie, we got things ironed out, and the set proceeded apace. And, it was busy. The barstaff were running hard all night, and the Treasure Valley Roller Derby showed up post match in full force. Those people know how to get down.
Stayed close to the familiar in the early going, just trying to get my feet underneath me. Horror Grace and Nicky Mustard were there early, and left early to go eat. I didn't play anything earlier than 1974, and Mustard only listens to things made before 1967. So they made a wise move. They missed the Booker T record I played late.
Dj Dusty C and DJ Brose came by and said hi, and Miss Allanna Love took my drink orders. Which kind of took my breath away. Minerva occupied a place on the bar for a couple of hours as well, so there was a high celebrity count in the house.
I had intended to downshift between 1 and 2, and I kind of did, but Cyberjewel asked me to keep the tempo up, since the bar staff was flagging and tired after a brisk and lively night. As you know, I don't take requests. I'm limited in the number of records I can bring to the booth, and I kind of have a good idea what to do, but I really don't hate hearing what people want to hear. It gives me ideas, and helps me read the crowd. And, it may put in motion record aquisition strategies for subsequent sets.
In any case, I did use the last hour to experiment a little bit, play less familiar tracks, and new things that I have, just to see how they play on the system. That is a continual process. Some records, while enjoyable to listen to in other settings don't jump off the turntables, and cut through the noise. And, some things work better at other times in the set, depending on what you play before or after. For instance, the Nappy Roots track I played didn't work in the place I put it. And I didn't eq it right either. I have played it before, and it has worked. Last night it didn't. Oh well.
I got some new (to me) compilations, The Dollar Bill, Y'all collection of the first decade of rap records from Beat Goes Public, and the Life Between Islands compilation on Soul Jazz. Both are amazing. I played a couple tracks apiece from them, and will hit more as I get into it. I also got the Disco Reggae Rockers compilation in the mix. IGA turned me on to that, and I played Flight To Jamaica in his honor, even though he is thousands of miles away.
That Anadol record was a real reach for me. And it worked where I placed it. Plague Vendor is a weird SO CAL band that play short songs, the singer yelps, and they kick it. I like it, people are mystified. The new EBTG is killer. I played one of the two uptempo-ish tracks to good effect. And that Marshall Watson record is one of my favorites this year!
Next set is August 19th. Hope to have some fresh 7" records in the box. Maybe we see you there.

Sports AU/Themed Masterlist
And Now We're Here (ao3) - Nejinee steve/bucky E, 27k
Summary: Bucky Barnes is coach of the American Women's Gymnastics Team and he's taking them to the top, even if it kills him. He's also a previous Olympic medallist with a solid reputation of success behind him. He's known for his lady-killer looks, historic rise to fame and his frankly horrific temperament and personality.
Steve Rogers, however, is new and irritating and Bucky fucking hates him to hell and back.
Breakaway (ao3) - NegativeGhostrider yelena/kate E, 81k
Summary: Kate Bishop is a photojournalism student at NYU, talented but admittedly lacking in focus. When she’s all but forced to cover an international hockey tournament for her end of semester piece, it’s not exactly her dream come true. Kate has never really given a shit about hockey. But that was before she met the terrifying captain of Team Russia. Yelena Belova is one of the world’s best competitive hockey players - ruthless, driven, and talented beyond measure - and Kate knows a good story when she sees one. Sure, she’s strange and irritating and extremely distracting, but Kate can deal with it. But there’s more to this game than meets the eye, and when she goes digging and uncovers more than she bargained for, everything changes. The stakes are high and everything is on the line. But she can’t win alone.
Citius, Altius, Fortius (Faster, Higher, Stronger) (ao3) - MarcellaBianca steve/bucky, peggy/steve M, 50k
Summary: Steve Rogers. James Barnes.
One, an NHL star with dreams of finally capturing an Olympic gold medal. The other, a former World champion and Olympic silver medalist, now a current coach and choreographer for the top flight figure skaters in the Russian Federation.
But before all of that..they were Steve and Bucky.
Until they weren't.
cute quaterbacks (ao3) - haveufoundwhaturlookingfor steve/tony T, 1k
Summary: Steve and Bucky grew up as childhood best friends and are now roommates in college. Bucky dares Steve to bring a date to one of his upcoming football games after Steve suggests he could date anyone he wanted to. Enter Tony Stark.
Forty-Seven Flat (ao3) - geekymoviemom steve/tony M, 171k
Summary: Steve Rogers was on the top of the world. He was one of the top students in his class, a world-class athlete, and had a man who loved him. Winning an Olympic Gold Medal seemed like the perfect addition to his picture-perfect life.
But only four years later, Steve’s entire world has come crashing down around him, leaving defending his Olympic title the only thing lying between him and utter ruin.
And then, the unthinkable happens.
Going Yard (ao3) - Brenda steve/bucky E, 41k
Summary: Going Yard: Baseball vernacular for hitting a home run.
This is the love story of shortstop Steve Rogers and pitcher Bucky Barnes, estranged childhood best friends about to be reunited on the same team.
This is a love story about New York's other baseball team, the Avengers, and their quest to claim the National League East division title.
This is a love story about going home and new friends and team bonding and first loves and how the people you're the closest to can also drive you the craziest.
But mostly, this is a love story about baseball and the boys of summer who play it.
Got a Heart in Me, I Swear (ao3) - thepartyresponsible bucky/clint, steve/tony M, 36k
Summary: The pictures leak on a lazy off-season Sunday, in that muddled bit of midafternoon Clint never knows what to do with when he isn’t training. He curls up with Lucky on the couch and naps through the end of his whole damn life. And that, honestly, is pretty much perfect.
Howitzer (ao3) - spacebuck steve/bucky E, 111k
Summary: Bucky Barnes, figure skating champion, is forced to switch his skates for hockey ones when he leaves for college. Problem is, he's never played hockey before, and now he has to be good enough to get the scholarship he needs. Enter Steve Rogers, Carter University Men's Hockey player, who's decided that he'd do anything to get this guy on his team.
Cue five am runs, overwhelming classes, new friends, plenty of snow, and a sport that's fast becoming a way of life.
I've got you under my skin (ao3) - sirona steve/tony, bucky/peggy M, 38k
Summary: Five times Beijing 2008 Olympics Gold Medalist Tony Stark thinks it's going to be no more difficult a job to get ready for London 2012, than what he has just achieved. That is, of course, before Coach Fury comes to visit, and offers him a once-in-a-lifetime chance to be a part of something much bigger than himself. Swimming AU.
Strong Safety (ao3) - queenmab_scherzo steve/bucky M, 23k
Summary: Steve and Bucky figure out how to play in the NFL and how to live 800 miles apart.
Targeting (ao3) - queenmab_scherzo steve/bucky, clint/natasha E, 149k
Summary: Steve and Bucky end up playing for rival college football teams.
The Beautiful Game (ao3) - neversaydie steve/bucky E, 2k
Summary: [pissy goalie Bucky and angry defender Steve have hate-sex in the locker room]
The Gold (ao3) - superstringtheory steve/bucky, clint/natasha, tony/may M, 25k
Summary: Bucky Barnes: former world vault champion. Injured. Retired. Grumpy. Recently chunky.
Steve Rogers: up and coming gymnast on the world scene, attempting to learn Barnes' eponymous vault. Interest piqued by Barnes' new physique.
The meet-cute: Bucky begins to coach Steve on his vault technique. Steve tries to control his raging crush and desire to find out just how much Bucky can eat (especially in the bedroom).
Will Steve win the gold (and Bucky's heart)?
Time After Time (ao3) - beezyland steve/natasha M, 77k
Summary: A collection of AU oneshots I'd like to turn into full-length stories, but never will.
Recent: The Ballerina & the Baker AU. Between dance classes and being an awesome aunt, Natasha likes to stop in to Sarah's Bakeshop near her studio to flirt with a certain really hot baker. Little does she know, they have a history.
wholesale change (ao3) - biblionerd07 steve/bucky M, 83k
Summary: Steve Rogers, captain of a losing NHL team, has taken so many bad penalties this season he's worried he's going to get set down to the minors as punishment. His agent comes up with a plan to make Steve irreplaceable to the fans--a reality dating show. Where the contestants want to date Steve.

do you know any fic where derek and Stiles sleep together like bed sharing and they rub on each other while one is sleeping or at the morning ? Fic with bed sharing, wet dream, rub on the other accidentally and finally they have sex ? It can be a one shot or a long fic with a passage like this
Here's bed sharing.
Tumblr media
It happens like this: by A_Diamond
(1/1 I 100 I general)
They spend three days in New Mexico convincing the hunters that Stiles isn’t a supernatural threat.
Alivago by Alien_witch
(1/1 I 1,481 I General)
Stiles loses his flight but what will happen to him?
Scent Marking For Dummies by Hatteress (goddammitstacey)
(1/1 I 8,824 I Teen)
Stiles is almost used to being chased around the school by werewolves at this point. Having to share a bed with Derek freaking Hale, on the other hand, is just needlessly complicating his life.
The Life Expectancy of a Fluorescent Bulb by suburbanmotel, TwistedAmusement13
(1/1 I 10,492 I Mature)
//
They go north, and then they go home.
//
“Do you need a ride?” Derek says. The light over their heads is flashing rapidly now but no one else seems to notice.
“You offering?”
Derek shrugs, not looking away. “Sure. You look like you need one.”
Stiles stares at him, eyes dark and serious, face pale and shadowed. The noises around them fade away sharply, the clanking dishes, the knife-scrape of silverware, the hum of voices, gone. All Derek can see is Stiles’ eyes and the goddamn flickering light above their heads.
“Do I?” Stiles grins.
Then the light starts to hum and hum and hum higher and higher pitched until Derek winces and covers his ears with both hands, palms flat, pressing. The bulb explodes, raining down shards of glass, finely powdered like sharp snow. Someone screams and then laughs in giddy relief. When Derek opens his eyes his mind is completely clear, headache gone.
“Ok,” Stiles says, lips curled on one side, smiling like nothing’s happened, like he hasn’t noticed the explosion, glass dust on their arms and in their hair, the panic rising around them. He’s not twitching anymore. “Let’s get out of here.”
You look like my next mistake by Vendelin
(1/1 I 15,194 I Teen)
“So, are you dating someone new? Someone who doesn’t mind that you’re frigid?” Kate cocks her head to the side, smiling as though she just asked him about where he bought his shoes.
His entire body sighs in defeat as his shoulders grow square. Just as he opens his mouth, someone comes up to stand beside him, snaking an arm around his shoulders. When he glances to his side, expecting to see Isaac, his brain seems to malfunction. Because it isn’t Isaac. It’s Stiles Stilinski, the lacrosse talent of the year, a senior who Derek has seen multiple times from far away, but never ever talked to.
In which Derek is a nerd jock, and Stiles is a frat guy, and Derek falls for him even though he knows he shouldn't.
A (Fake) Romance in Idaho by sarcasmandirony
(13/? I 38,898 I Explicit)
Derek's brother is having a wedding and everyone but Derek and the babies of the family are taking dates. At thirty-six years old, his family is getting kind of worried Derek will never find anyone. So, Derek decides to tell them he's dating his best friend and colleague, Stiles Stilinski. Thank God Stiles' crush on Derek is 100% a thing of the past.
Strut on a Line, its Discord and Rhyme by xiaq
(21/21 I 61,811 I Teen)
“Carry me,” Stiles says.
“No.”
“But I’m injured.”
“You have a rash,” Derek says. “On your arm. Your feet work just fine.”
“Please?”
“No. You weigh almost as much as I do. And you ate a pound of chicken at lunch.”
"Well, yeah, but I pooped like an hour ago, so.”
“You’re disgusting.”
“Don’t play, you love me.”
I do, Derek thinks, relatively horrified. I really do.
Go Away, Scott by HelloWhyTheFuckAmIHere
(45/45 I 66,227 I Not Rated)
After the incident at the warehouse, Stiles is fed up with Scott. He finds himself drawn into Derek’s pack and in the process, drawn to Derek himself.
With the Alpha Pack closing in, Derek needs to learn how to trust his pack and those around him. And who better to help him than Stiles?
Call Me Rhianna Cause There's Sex in the Air and I Love the Smell of It by BedlamAtDawn, wyrmwolf
(5/? I 333,423 I Explicit)
Derek has had enough. Stiles and Scott, whoever they meant to be to him, were hiding something, lying to him—more than they had already lied to him. Hadn’t his so-called older-self—and he still wants to cry bullshit, still wants to insist that this is some fucked up nightmare or some cruel joke, that his family weren’t dead, that his house wasn’t just wood and ashes—ever tell them that it was impossible to lie to a werewolf? So, the moment he is alone with Stiles, away from Agent McCall—and what type of Alpha leaves a human packmate with a foreign wolf?—he moves, slamming him against the door. He’s going to demand answers, a growl a few threats Uncle Peter had taught him and the added growl that he practised with Laura, that Derek made a mistake—he breathed in.

Sparktober Bingo 2021!
Back for a new generation: Sparktober Bingo!
Instead of coming up with an Atlantis-specific list of prompts, I compiled a bunch of 2021 -tober prompt lists into one google doc here. (Links to original prompt lists are on the google doc.) Add in a list of Atlantis episodes and...
Tumblr media
How to play:
Choose a “flavor” from the prompt sets below the cut, then paste it into this fandom bingo card generator.
Adjust your browser size til it looks right and take a screenshot, or use the html script if you’re familiar with using html on tumblr. Tag @sparktober if you want us to reblog it so everyone knows you’re playing!
  Sparktober Bingo Rules:
Complete a row/column, corners, or a blackout of your card by November 1, or not! Update as you go.
All fan-works are allowed: art, edits, fic, meta... bonus points to anyone who picks the “sprinkles” flavor and goes full mid-aughts by filling their bingo cards with 100x100 pixel icons.
You are allowed to pull multiple cards until you get one that inspires you, and you can also go through the prompt list of your choice in advance to pull out squicks or things you absolutely won’t write. I recommend not googling unfamiliar words from your work computer.
Use the prompts liberally! Episode titles can be treated as the episode or as generic prompts (e.g. “Epiphany” can be for an episode-related fic or a prompt for an epiphany of your choice).
  Flavor descriptions:
VANILLA: Gen prompt lists from Fictober, Inktober, Trektober Gen, and Trektober Trek.
CHOCOLATE: Zesty prompt lists from Trektober NSFW, Kinktober, and Whumptober. The multiple-prompts-per-day from Kinktober and Whumptober have been broken into individual prompts.
CANDY CORN: Fall / holiday themed prompts from TUA-tober.
SPRINKLES: Atlantis episode list (in order, in case you only want to copy certain seasons), along with characters and a few Atlantis-specific prompts.
TWIST: All of the above! (You can also manually mix and match different flavors, of course.)
Text blocks to copy into the bingo card generator are below the cut. Enjoy!!

HASO, “Secret Weapon.”
Hello everyone!
Sorry I have not posted anything in like a weak. I have plenty of excuses number one being that the fourth book in my favorite book series (the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson came out) and I needed to finish reading it for my own sanity
number two being that I am currently working on a new novel and am trying to write 2000 words a day on that
plus I am trying to get into graduate school
also I have a job
And am experiencing a tiny bit f burnout :)
Either way I am sorry that It has been a while, and I hope you like the story today.
“Is he alright?”
“Not this again.”
“Someone should go talk to him.”
“I thought we were past this.”
Dr. Krill, Sunny, Dr Katie, Ramirez, and Maverick huddled outside the door to the observation platform looking inward to where the man stood in front of the window illuminated by a field of stars. His posture was eerily similar to how they had seen him once before, not long before a near breakdown had led him to take leave. Leave they weren’t entirely sure he would come back from.
They hoped this wouldn’t be like that, but this picture seemed all too familiar.
“Someone should go talk to him.”
Four heads turned to face Sunny who turned the corners of her mouth down in the approximation of a frown, “Why me.”
“Well aren't you like…. His girlfriend.”
“Ex.”
Ramirez raised an eyebrow, “You guys have been pretty cuddly recently for exes.”
Sunny huffed, “The relationship has yet to be defined, but that's beside the point. Ramirez you’re his BFF or whatever you humans call it.”
Ramirez shook his head, “Me, no I think Maverick has this one. She’s all spiritual and what not, so she is like supposed to talk to people about their problems.”
Maverick snorted, “I’m a chaplain not a therapist. Talk to doctor Adric if you need that.” She turned to look to doctor Krill, “If anyone should be talking to him it’s you. You’ve been his friend the second longest and you are the most logical.”
Dr Krill waved a hand, “I am not equipped to handle your human issues.”
“That is such a cop-out answer.
The squabble continued for a few minutes, until finally Sunny raised her voice, “Fne, fine, I will go talk to him. You all wait here.”
They quieted down clustering around the door as they watched Sunny move forward into the room. She took a deep breath and slowly approached coming up to stand beside him. She turned her head fearing what kind of expression she might find on his face, and was both surprised, relieved, and concerned to find he had an expression of puzzled concentration on his face, brows knit together, mouth turned down in a frown.
She reached up and rested a hand on his shoulder, “Hey, you alright.”
He turned his head to look up at her, “Hmmm, oh yeah…. Fine as I can be I suppose.”
“Do you want to talk about it?”
His mouth turned up in a tight smile, “Only if you tell the others to stop loitering in the door and come help me out.” He raised his voice so that the others could hear and, in abashment, they headed into the room. Surprisingly Conn drifted in from the other side of the room where he had been spying from the other door.
They clustered together on one of the tables taking a seat as he turned to face them. He was smiling pleasantly, and the group glanced between each other in concern. It seemed like he was doing fine, but who were they to judge, they had been wrong before.
“Worried about me again I see.”
“I mean, you’ll forgive us. You have been…. Questionably erratic in the past.”
His smile continued,” I know, and I thank you, all for your concern about me. It is nice to know I have friends who I can count on.” He turned to look at Conn, “Go on, tell them.”
Conn floated off to the side ribbons undulating in his simulated zero gravity field, “He is stressed but not overly so.”
They nodded relieved.
He turned, putting his hands behind his back and began to pace. Hisback was straight and the way he walked was like a general examining his troops on the battlefield. “I admit that I have been distant, and I admit that in the past something like this would have overwhelmed me. I still FEEL overwhelmed though not in a drowning sort of way.” He turned the other direction, “I feel like I have been caught in an intergalactic game of chess where I am the king facing down a queen and her rooks.”
Sunny didn’t understand the metaphor but Krill certainly seemed to.
“I don’t have enough experience to play the game and so my movements are limited. But the chairwoman…. She’s a Rundi, and has trained for politics all her life in one way or another.” he turned back in the opposite direction. “And just like a king in chess I find myself the most important piece of a game that I cannot directly influence.”
They watched him pacing back and forth. They had never seen him like this, though it was better than the other options.
“I think you underestimate your position.”
Admiral vir lifted his head, “And how is that?”
Dr Kate idly played with the ends of her hair as she thought, “Well, you know what she is planning. And she doesn't know that you know, which, I feel, gives you a leg up.”
He nodded, ‘And you are right, for sure, butI find the problem being that I’m not…. Smart enough to know how to use it.” He turned in the other direction, “I had my IQ tested at the academy you know…. Above average but nowhere close to genius, which I would need to be in order to play this sort of game.” He turned to eye krill, “We have a certified genius aboard the ship, but something tells me that politics wouldn’t be your strong suit.”
Krill shrugged rather abashedly. That was true enough.
“If only I had some sort of secret weapon.”
***
Eris had never been off-world.
Noctopolis had been her home for as long as she could remember though the early days of her life had been spent inside a cage. She was Eunique, the only one of her kind, half human and half starborn, and sometimes, it felt, completely alone.
Despite her maturity, she was less than three years old, and had been grown at an enhanced rate inside a simulated womb using adapted DNA to configure her parts. She was completely unnatural, a freak of nature that had nothing to  do with nature. She was an unnatural abomination. And since they had been rescued, she had spend her days living and working for other people. The hybrids had needed a stable home, somewhere they could learn and grow and feel loved.
She had created that place, and provided that for a time, but she was growing exhausted.
Others had stepped in to help and volunteer. People from all over the galaxy had really shown their compassion in coming to her and either adopting the hybrids or offering to help and work athr foundation. A sweet LFIL couple (Tesraki and Human pair) had offered to take over for her as she was struggling to run what what essentially a business in some ways, though it was more a boarding house for the hybrids.
In the end there were only a few left who needed watching, and her burnout had been obvious to others.
She needed to get away.
To find her own path, but….. What was that?
Eris couldn’t survive in space like a starborn, that was well established, her bones and organ structures were like that of a human. The internal structures of a hybrid always had to be one way or another to avoid horrific malfunctions, so in most ways she was human.
Accept for her skin, and eyes of course which were starborn. She was as pale as alabaster and her eyes were wide and dark. This made her a freak to humans, so she kept her dark hair very long inorder to hide her face, which she grew more and more ashamed of by the day.
It didn’t help that she had the ability to read the thoughts of others, and knew better than anyone what people thought about her.
She wore a gravity belt sometimes since she found it felt better on her joints, but she had stopped when she left the foundation and struck out on her own. Today she wore a hoodie -- with the UNSC logo on it -- and very dark sunglasses.
Final boarding call for flight 1427 to earth, Final boarding call.
Eris followed behind the tide of other humans pulling her luggage along behind her. She was tired, and her knees ached a little, but she supposed she was ok. Due to the nature of her eyes, she didn’t see very well as humans did, but reading the minds of others as a constant background in her head she was able to navigate better than anyone there as she knew when they were going to move on when they were going to stop. She maneuvered the tide of human bodies like no human could.
Again, Eris was mostly human. She didn’t hear though, and relied on others to do that for her, and she couldn't taste or smell either, but that was also something she could borrow.
Her senses lacked only what the people around her could and could not see.
She follow the boarding call with the other passengers and offered her ticket to the flight attendant.
The woman squinted under her hood rather suspiciously, but didn’t say anything. These space ports were well guarded, and Eris had already had to deal with other people staring at her when she went through security.
She followed the other humans onto the shuttle and took a seat. The floor glowed blue throbbi in time with the engine as she locked herself into her seat. Out the window she could see the surface of mars, Hazy grey in the distance with rough red plateau’s rising up in the distance.
It was strange to be in the human system, the genesis of half her ancestral line. SHe didn't know about her starborn half as she had never met one. She knew who her DNA donor had been in theory, though he had likely had his DNA stolen.
Eris doubted that he knew about her.
And then there was her human donor, Admiral Vir, the most famous human in the galaxy.
Eris Vir
She kind of liked that, though she never really used it, feeling he might see it as a breach of privacy. The man had been nothing but good to her the few times she had met him, and the one time he had saved her. She admired him a lot and wished she had a better relationship with him, though his job took him far away. She wasn’t the only one, most all of her hybrid brothers and sisters, who were part human, had been grown off his stolen DNA.
She was the only one, however, that seemed to care.
Eris Vir.
She sighed and leaned her head against the window.
What was she doing?
Below her the ground sped away as the automated safety system continued to give instructions.
“Preparing for warp.”
She held onto the seat feeling her insides churn as the warp sequence engaged. She jerked once against her seatbelt as te warp stopped, and below her she could see the glittering vista of the human homeworld.
Earth.
She pressed her face up to the window and gasped in awe.
It was beautiful blue and green swirled with delicate white clouds in churning spirals.
Herheart raced inside her chest.
This was it…. This is where it all began.
Preparing to dock on lunar 1 please remain in your seats until the seatbelt sign is off.
She waited patiently and stopped off with the others, walking out into the fifth spaceport of her trip, her suitcase rattling behind her.
She followed the sins to the proper docking station and waited for another shuttle that would take her to earth. It would be at least an hour for the next one to Mid-Mericanda, so she would have to wait.
She slumped in her seat and listened to the music of the girl next to hre. The music was ood, it had a nice beat.
When her boarding was called, she stood and followed onto another shuttle, which took her down through the atmosphere rattling and bouncing in her seat. She did her best to keep her hood covering her face as she stared out the window at the wondrous view below her. It was so bright!.
Noctopolis had no sunlight, but this was beautiful and colorful, and it looked so warm.
She didn’t see why everyone thought earth was so dangerous.
They touched down outside an Airport where she could see planes fuling for in-atmosphere flights, and stepped out onto the tarmac with wide eyes. Wides eyes under the radiation of the sun. Glorious, glorious heat, it warmed her through her sweatshirts and into her body making her drowsy and happy and warm. Her entire body felt energized, and even her knees seemed as if they were aching just a little less. She stood in the sun probably longer than she should have.
“Been a while since you’ve seen the sun huh?”
She jumped a little in surprise, which was unusual for her and turned to look at the human baggage attendant standing on the other side of the gate, “Oh yes…. A very…. Very long time.”
The smiling human tipped his hat at her, “Well enjoy your stay ma’am.”
She couldn’t help but smiling back thinking about how pleasant he was. His memories were warm, filled with sunny days spent with his family. It made her chest ache just to think of it as she turned and headed towards the baggage claim.
She picked up her bags just fine and then walked to stand just outside.
Suddenly very lost.
She looked up at the sky which  was a beautiful blue color she had never seen before and she breathed in the air of earth, Air thousands of years old, breath in by countless humans that had come before.
Eris frowned at herself. She needed to stop thinking of them as being so different from her. She was half human after all, even though her eyes and skin were a little strange. Still, it that moment she had never felt so alien, unsure of where to go or how to proceed.
“Need a lift. Lady.”
She turned on the spot coming fact to face with a man leaning back against the hood of his strange yellow machine…. A taxi it seemed.
She searched or his intentions and heard nothing but his desire to work.
She walked over nervously and held up a small piece of paper, “I am looking for this address, do you know how I can get there.” He scanned the address with a chip implanted in his hand and then tilted his head to look down at his wrist as a map appeared.
He chewed slowly on a wad of gum and blew a bubble, “Yeah I can get you there, can you pay.”
“Do you take credits?”
“Take anything as long as you meet the exchange value for dollars.”
She nodded, “I would like to be taken there then, please.”
The man nodded and touched his forehead helping her ut her suitcase in the back before opening the door for her. She climbed in, and h slid into the front seat pulling away and into traffic. Looking around she could see most of the vehicles didn’t touch the ground, though a few rolled on wheels. The high speeds at which they drove made her nervous and she clutched the harness holding her in place.
Below her she could see the city unfolding in a great sprawling vista. She stared, the architecture was so strange with sharp geometric lines mostly of steel and glass rising hundreds of feet into the air. They dropped lower into the city and eventually out to where lines and lines of similarly cut houses stood in sharp rows.
She had seen this in the memories of humans before but never thought shed see it.
They drove for a little longer until the houses gave way to sprawling fields and little tons until they pulled into a small place in comparison to the city, past a school and some other amenities before pulling in to another one of the subdivisions.
She recognized the house even though she had never seen it in person, and the Driver pulled to a stop.
She paid the man and stepped out of the car thanking him as he got her bag for her and then just drove off.
Eris was left standing alone on the quiet suburban  street under an earth sun. Though she was alone her mind was full of strange images, seen through the eyes of unusual creatures. It made her disoriented for a moment, but she quietly walked forward up the sidewalk and to the front door of the house.
She paused.
She could feel people inside, and knew that she was at the right palace, but she was nervous, how would they react to her. Would they even accept her existence?
What was she doing here?
It’s not like she was part of thor family, not by choice anyway.
She almost turned around but stopped and then raised a hand knocking softly on the door.
Eris held her breath and waited, footsteps approached the door, a man approaching thinking nothing more than one of his neighbors come to ask a question.
The door opened and Jim Vir looked down at her.
He was a tall intimidating man, one who had work hard all his life.
He tilted his head in that curious fashion humans had, “Can I help you?”
Nervously, Eris pushed back her hood and pulled off her sunglasses letting her long black hair roll down next to her face. The man’s eyes widened slightly in surprise, but the thought in his head was a little less than what she expected.
Another one
He frowned, “You’re…. Not a starborn ar you?”
Hedidn’t seem to think so recalling that Adam’s friend Conn couldn’t survive without a 0 gravity field.
She shuffled nervously, “No…. well yes…. I’m half starborn and half human.”
Yep, another one.
To her surprise he smiled and opened the door, “You must be Eris then.”
She blinked, “You know about me/”
Dumb question as she could see Adam had told his parents about her. They even had a picture of the two of them together.
Despite hos scary he looked his thoughts and demeanor were pleasant as he opened the door to invite her in, “Guess this makes you my granddaughter in a way doesn’t it?”
“In the technical sense.” She said quietly smiling
“Well Family is always welcome here.”
Isn’t that nice she thought.
She hoped it was going to work out

HER!!!!!!!!!! 3.5 YEARS LATER AND MY PROJECT VEILSPUNS ARE FINALLY COMPLETE OHH MY GOD
Tumblr media
121 hatchlings and 4 males later, we FINALLY have a natural murk/bronze/peach female to cap off the batch of veilspuns I scried back on their release day........................... I've been playing FR since Nov 2018 so this godforsaken project has taken up well over half of my time here to eventuate! what the fuck!
unfortunately one of the only candidates I had to work with was one of my pre-existing, well-loved coatls who I wasn't willing to breed change for a shorter cooldown, so I was only able to roll the dice on one nest each month (which is absolutely part of why this took so long when their colour ranges are only a few points apart! the other one is because all of the other candidates that showed up in my AH listings were blood relatives!! then once I started collecting them in my hibden out of frustration they stopped appearing lmao)

Mornings at the Manor
Clark's mornings start at the first peek of the sun at the horizon. Bruce is usually dead asleep next to him or just coming to bed. It's slowly rousing with Bruce's warmth next to him and the heat under the blankets that just on the right edge of not too hot to be uncomfortable.
Alfred is usually in the kitchen preparing breakfast. It's the scent of freshly brewing coffee and eggs sizzling in the pan while classical music plays softly from the little radio.
Dick is usually on his morning jog with Damian and Titus and Ace. The sun is just rising and the grass is still wet with morning dew, their breaths coming out in white puffs.
Jason is usually in the kitchen with Alfred, helping with breakfast. The music from the radio is turned up just a bit louder while they work together, Jason frying some bacon while Alfred prepares a stack of waffles.
Kara is usually up even before Clark and out on her balcony basking in the sun. It's the soft warmth of sunrays on your skin and the fresh, untainted air of a morning after a night of rain.
Mon is usually on his own balcony next door, half asleep with a cup of instant coffee, black, no milk, the steam of it clearly visible in the cool morning air as it curls around his face while he's sipping on it, eyes directed somewhere at the horizon.
Tim is usually still up, having helped Bruce with a case or studying, and asleep on a sofa somewhere. Where Tim is, Kon is usually not far, so chances are, the two are sleep-cuddling on a sofa somewhere. It's the softness of the blanket wrapped around them, with the scent of breakfast slowly permeating the Manor. It's moving sluggishly under the blanket, like through water, and sharp inhales as they wake up, noses nuzzling into soft bed hair and exposed necks.
Cass is usually on Dick's and Damian's jog, but she's always faster. It's the comforting thrum of her feet thudding on the ground and her breath fogging in the air before her while cool wind pulls at her hair.
Steph is usually passed out in her room if she's at the Manor, with class notes sticking to her face. It's the scent of ink, the comfort of a desperately needed night of sleep where the surface doesn't matter at all.
Barbara is usually in the kitchen with Jason and Alfred, adding milk and sugar to the freshly brewn coffee, with her hair up in a lazy bun while subconsciously drumming codes into the countertop until Alfred nudges her fingers.
Harper is usually already logged into one of her online classes in Cass' room. It's hearty yawns with a cup of tea and bleary eyes attempting to focus on the slides.
Cullen is usually still passed out in bed, snoring softly in the muted dark of his room.
Duke is usually in the bathroom, he's the only morning shower guy among the Bats who all shower after Patrol, in the middle of the night. It's the comfort of a hot, steaming shower thundering down on your tired body and the steam fogging up the mirrors while no one is in a rush yet.
Claire is usually still drowsy and making her way to the kitchen. It's long yawns and shuffling, slippered feet on thick carpet and creaking hardwood.
Bran is usually out on his windowsill, soaking up the sun until Cass passes by his window, when he jumps down and finishes her run with her. It's the rejuvenating feeling of his body charging up again and the fatigue slipping from him, the cool wind breezing in his face as he jumps down to join Cass, the still exhilarating sensation of free fall.
Laney is usually struggling to put on his cell stabilising shirt for the day while trying to swallow his meds dry like a fool. It's bleary eyes trying to focus enough to get the pills out of the packaging and legs tangled in blankets, muttered swearing and suppressed yawns.
Chris is usually in the kitchen with Alfred, Jason and Babs. It's the clatter of dishes being set on the big dining table and soft clink of glasses and cutlery being set down.
Damian is usually on a run with Dick and the dogs. It's fresh, cool air filling his lungs and Titus' and Ace's panting as they run next to him.
Jon is usually fast asleep in bed or on a morning flight with Krypto. It's the whip of air in his face and the sensation of speed as Gotham shrinks below him, Krypto barking and the silence above the clouds.
Billy is usually in the kitchen with Alfred, Chris, Jason and Babs. It's the sound of pouring coffee and the whistling tea kettle, the low murmur of morning conversations and the sizzling of new eggs being broken into the oiled pan.
Terry is usually deep asleep, passed out over his phone. It's the slow rising when the alarm starts to buzz, the tired searching for the phone and nuzzling back into the pillows for another five minutes.
Matt is usually the same. Sometimes, he sneaks into Terry's bed in the mornings and snuggles up to his brother, the warmth under the blankets just bordering on too much.
Helena is usually already up and running in her room and on her way to her brothers' rooms. It's the energy and good mood that can only come for a child this early in the morning, bouncing steps with slippered feet and the hum of a childish melody.
Luke is usually getting ready for the day at WE or having morning sex with Jean-Paul. It's the languid movement and deeply sated pleasure, with lazy kisses and sighs so deep.
Kate is usually found at the closest coffee machine or in the bathroom straightening her hair. It's the hum of the instant coffee machine preparing her cup and the light sizzle the hair iron makes when it clamps around her hair.
Nissa is usually already gone to wherever she goes after patrol. It's the sounds of a slowly waking city for her, the hushed murmurs of business people rushing along the streets and distant whooshing from the underground.
Maxine is usually getting ready for school. It's sneaking throughout the house as silently as possible, the little wince and pause when you hit that one creaking floorboard.

Movie Review | The Aviator (Scorsese, 2004)
Tumblr media
I think when you're portraying a famous public figure, you already have your work cut out for you in making the character your own rather than just dressing up as them. And the challenge is especially great when you're playing someone like Katharine Hepburn, one of cinema's most instantly recognizable screen presences, the challenge is even more pronounced, even if you're an actress the calibre of Cate Blanchett. Credit to her, she makes this tension essential to her performance, particularly in her breakup scene, which is the movie's best moment. ("Ha. I'm not acting.") For all the (extremely wrongheaded) criticism Martin Scorsese gets for the lack of female perspective in his movies, scenes like this prove he gets women, even if he's directing from a male vantage point.
Unfortunately, I think she's mostly an exception in this movie, which suffers from the flaws that seem to plague biopics. I've read about the amount of research that Leonardo DiCaprio did to prepare for his role as Howard Hughes, and while I think in later movies he's disappeared into distinct, magnetic characters (The Wolf of Wall Street, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), the level of calculation that goes into all his choices is a bit too obvious here. There are times when his work rises above that level, usually depending on the strength of his co-star. One particularly good scene has him spar with a rival airline mogul played by Alec Baldwin, who uses his smugness to goad DiCaprio into spilling his secrets in an almost parodic display of dick-measuring (that their business is airplanes makes the metaphor that much more appropriate). But elsewhere, as when he argues with Kate Beckinsale's Ava Gardner, the movie devolves into two actors shouting under period-appropriate make-up, costumes and accents. As with many period movies of this scope, there are a great many cameos, and a number of them here are by actors who look distractingly modern, for lack of a better word.
To be honest, I'm no great fan of biopics (I struggle to think of many recent ones I've had any serious fondness for) and I think this movie's need to fit its material into that template hurts it significantly. I suspect Scorsese identified more than a little with Hughes as a creator and filmmaker (and like Hughes, he apparently sank his own money into the project to finish it), but based on a few of his movies, I suspect he has no great love for free enterprise, and the senate committee hearing scene in the third act, a sort of last hurrah to appease the genre's demands, comes off as a little obvious, as does the way Hughes' growing OCD lines up with the overall arc of the plot. (I'm sure many have pointed out how the pandemic has made Hughes much easier to empathize with in the latter respect, but I'm not sure that helped me enjoy this much more.) I understand Scorsese battled with producers heavily on this film and I wonder to what extent these narrative decisions were forced on him. Compare this to The Irishman and you can see how a sense of sprawl and langour in the narrative helped that movie immeasurably. Perhaps a less neat structure would have helped this one better evoke its subject's idiosyncrasies. (As to what kind of structure would be a thematically appropriate match for Hughes' OCD, I think you can argue in either direction.)
Scorsese's cinephilia manifests in the technical choices, some of which I struggled with. Visually the movie is supposed to evoke early Technicolor, with the first act in particular having the gaudy red and cyan look of the two-strip Technicolor process. I can't fault him for making use of technical innovations (perhaps in the spirit of the cinematic era he's evoking), but the CGI-enhanced colour scheme has an ugly digital veneer that I found extremely unpleasant to look at. Perhaps if this were achieved through more traditional methods, it might have had the tactility necessary to ground its artificiality. His cinematographic choices also make the CGI in the flight sequences look a little too obvious, although the scene where Hughes' plane crashes looks appropriately bruising, and otherwise look like something out of retro science fiction. I hate to come down too hard on this as it moves along quite nicely despite running almost three hours and usually has something halfway interesting going on in the meantime, but this is also close to my least favourite thing I've seen from Scorsese. But because he's a master filmmaker (and likely incapable of turning out something truly boring), this still muscles its way into a slight recommendation.

Title: Eurydice WC: 1500
“Did you not understand the conditions of the agreement?”  — Hal Lockwood, Knockout (3 x 24)
He thinks cinematically—or maybe theatrically is closer to the truth, given his pedigree. This was true before her. It seems true in the distant memories he has of Before Her. She crowds all else to the margins—to the wings, to follow his metaphor—but he dimly recalls thinking this way from early on, in stage directions and lighting cues, in bit players and main cast.
This peculiarity of mind is a mercy when the doorbell buzzes. It renders the moment legible to him—his daughter, exits downstage, a new character appears, and we see the man, older and careworn, will play a small but vital role. Kate’s father.
There’s the necessary comedic beat on two sides of a threshold. There is the long moment in which our hero stands there gawping, reviewing in his mind all possible exits, staring. There is the same long moment in which the dry-witted supporting player waits him out. This lasts for a count of twelve—not eleven, not thirteen—and the tension breaks. Sir. Yes. Jim, right? Sir. Come in. Please. If you would like. Twelve monosyllables, one for each comedic pulse.
There is the stage business of coffee. It follows hard on the silent agony the audience sees on our hero’s face as he comes within one breath—one sharply bitten tongue—of offering wine, beer, hard alcohol by names general and specific. But in the end, there is the salvation of stage business coffee.
The hero crosses upstage to join the supporting player—the father—near what seems to be the the sole point of light in this universe, a table top lamp, softly shaded and touching each man’s face with incongruous autumn gold. The dialogue that follows is banal on the surface—it is the small talk of strangers jostled unexpectedly together, party goers stranded without benefit of finger sandwiches. But the audience sees easily beneath the surface: In the caged bird flutter of the hero’s hands, they see he is eager to know more of her. He is eager to be known by this man—her father. He is eager for countless things, every one of which orbits around her.
The father, in turn, is dryly amused, He sips his coffee and doles out his answers in tantalizing increments. He understands this planetary arrangement, these gravitational forces, inevitable and eternal. He understands them far better than the hero does, not as well as the hero will.
The dialogue proceeds, a spiral-armed galaxy that speaks of her. It reminds the audience that everything here speaks of her, players and pauses, lights and curtain drops, the faces of two men, touched with incongruous autumn gold.
The scene is the hero’s call to action. It is the divine charge laid on him by the benevolent and broken. It is a solemn, unexpected, and daunting task. The hero’s head bends under the weight of it.
The sole point of light in this universe extinguishes. The scene ends. Fade to black.
***********************
He thinks cinematically—or maybe theatrically. Maybe epically. This is irrelevant, in context. It’s no blessing or anything else. Any fool with any kind of mind can see the cycle inscribed and where he falls: He is a hero, refusing he call.
His task is impossible. The audience knows this, though there is no antic soliloquy. His duty is clear, his flaws are countless and fatal, his failure is inevitable.  But failure is still far off as of yet.
He refuses the call. He thumbs his nose at the prophecy. He draws a blanket around his shoulders and mingles with the men by their several campfires, hoping for deliverance—for someone to clap him on the shoulder and say he has done enough, that they will take up the burden from here, and they will succeed where he surely—surely—would have failed.
But there is silence, only. There is stage business and fists raised in the general direction of the gods. There is, eventually, and a tip of lamp light shining through paper, a false sun with its circumference described by condensation, sublimation, desperation.
There is a scene change, a chase from wing to wing with the blackness of the background all the same. The temporary light of a conjured sun that dims almost  as soon as it appears. It is a call to stage business, nothing more. The men, all but he, exit, stage left. The hero lingers. He stands at right angles to the tableau already fixed in the mind of the audience with its upstage light, well shaded, seemingly the sole light in this universe.
This scene, in contrast, is all stochastic illumination. The overhead buzz of stark white pours in from nowhere, rendering his face gaunt with shadows, yet his hands, his body swim in and out of overlapping ovals of something kinder and not quite autumn gold from the several desk lamps.
The scene, well lit, nonetheless suggests a skeleton with its slatted ribs of vinyl blinds. It suggests a hero swallowed whole, and a long-term stay in the belly of the beast is tempting. Stark white slashes across the hero’s face and the audience understands that it is tempting. He is, after all, the hero, refusing the call.
He is the hero, trying and failing to jerry-rig his own god in the machine. He lingers, one-hundred and twenty degrees away from another character, well-known, a small, but vital role—her mentor. The dialogue here proceeds in shorthand born of long acquaintance, deep respect. The dialogue here is terse, intense, efficient. The mentor offers up ancient history, a blessing because he yearns to know her. A curse because it ushers in  the second inevitable dictum.
The mentor, benevolent and broken, lays the charge again, like a ghost pointing soundlessly from the ramparts, a ghost taking his closing bows on the last of a three-night engagement.
The hero is the hero. The call has been refused—pointlessly refused. And scene.
*********************
He thinks cinematically—maybe theatrically. Operatically in this case. The scale of this, in every sense, demands nothing less.
There is a second call to action, literal this time. A one-sided phone call. Sir. Yes. Yes. There are monosyllables without benefit of the comedic beat. There are monosyllables, resigned and barely audible, though the audience surely knows their tenor.  There is a journey accomplished off stage—a journey deep into this cavernous underworld, with its hulking metal beasts, blue–black lit and hair raising.
The hero arrives, unbeknownst to anyone, in medias res. The hero, having refused the first call, the hero having failed, arrives, unbeknownst to anyone, to fail again.
She is an upright column of black picked out of the blue. She is a sharp-featured face, an elegant pair of hands drawing the blue into her, gathering what light there is to wield as her weapon. She is, for a single instant, a head bowed, a spine bending under the weight of history revealed, disordered allusions to a terrible past by the man, the mentor, the villain, it seems, clothed entirely in shadow.
These sins weave through the heavy black air to wind around her, to transform her. She shakes the weight of devastating realization from her shoulders. She is an upright column of black, demanding and implacable, terrifying and beautiful in the hair-raising, blue–black light.
There should be chords striking for this, low brass, heavy and dissonant. There should be thundering, unrelenting percussion that slams into the metal bones of this place, that slams into every useless cell of his body. There should be urgent strings rising to a fevered pitch and melancholy winds crying out in between.
But there is no such thing. The dialogue here is pointed, traditional. It is a confession in recitative where there should be a villain’s aria, fiery and defiant. Instead, there is only this—a confession in recitative, painfully extracted, painfully made, painfully witnessed.
He thinks cinematically, theatrically, epically, operatically, but the five-act structure fails him here. This is neither complication nor climax, neither reversal or falling action. This is the hero, watching helplessly from the wings. This is the nightmare of lines unlearned, a role that is nothing but a blank, page after page.
This Is the fourth wall tumbling as the man, the mentor, the villain invokes him—the hero, now a miserable, ill-equipped god in the machine, stumbling from from the wings. He pleads with her. His vocal line is all but lost in the rising chaos, beneath the hiss of gravel under tires. His vocal line is all but drowned out by her absolution ringing out above all.
There is an urgent sweep of jaundiced light. There are his arms, banding around her, nothing like a spiral galaxy. There is a flight from the underworld. There is an arrival at the very threshold of life once again. An arrival, but no hero’s victory.
She looks back. She looks ever back.
A/N; This is late and hot garbage and certainly not a thing. I am so behind on everything and I will die behind on everything.
