foaming at the mouth.
the kent popcorn scene *cracks knuckles*
i think about this scene so often, you have NO idea.
if you choose to blame jodi (why would you?) kent gets mad at YOU and tells you to stop trying to turn him against his wife. he then apologizes & understands that she couldn't have known.
if you choose the positive option of saying it isn't jodi's fault, he COMPLETELY AGREES and says there is no way she could've known. he then apologizes to jodi.
if you lie to him, he gets angry at YOU again and explains how he hates lying. he then apologies to jodi.
no matter the outcome, he always apologizes to jodi and either gets mad at you for lying/attacking his wife or agrees that it wasn't her fault.
he is only mad at jodi initially (with reason, as he is having a ptsd reaction) and soon realizes she isn't the one at fault. all the dialogue options result in him realizing his mistake, owning up to it, and apologizing to his wife.
he loves his wife so much and understands that she couldn't have known something that used to be his favorite would upset him.
i've seen others mention this but, kent doesn't talk to his family about his experiences during the war (likely to protect them) and sam, vincent, and jodi all comment on how kent has slightly distanced himself.
kent knows that, if anyone is at fault, it's himself for not talking to jodi. he loves jodi and would do anything for her (re: a soldier's star quest line)
in the guidebook, he's listed as a "family man" and it hurts to see people say he hates his family/wife.
he literally loves them so much.
anyway: tldr the popcorn scene (especially kent's actions in it) isn't as bad at people make it out to be. he actively realizes his wrongs & apologizes to his wife. he UNDERSTANDS that it isn't her fault and he loves his wife more than anything.
sorry.. i have a favorite character, can't you tell? TT

Oh teenager pregnancy Damian would not have a moment of peace in his home they would not leave him alone they would become overprotective even more when he is partner along and most likely would not let Jon be near him
Teen pregnancy Damian would not know a single moment of peace in that house. The Batfam would go feral. Like the second they find out he’s pregnant it’s over for him. No patrol. No stress. No sharp objects. No walking too fast. Jason installs baby gates around the entire manor.
And if Jon is even slightly in the picture?? Oh forget it. Bruce is hovering like a bat-shaped shadow, arms crossed in the corner. Tim is doing “background checks” on Jon like he’s not the literal son of Superman. Dick’s trying to be supportive but also absolutely putting Jon in a headlock every five minutes to “chat.” Alfred is the only one treating Damian like a competent human being, and even he’s giving Jon a look every time he walks in like “tread. lightly.”
They won’t even let Damian open his own doors. He tries to reach for tea and suddenly there are six hands trying to hand it to him. He gets up from a chair and Dick materializes behind him with a cushion and a concerned “do you need a nap?” He goes to scratch his ankle and Cass is like “do you need help reaching?”
Damian: “I’m not disabled—” Everyone else: “YOURE DELICATE.”
Meanwhile Jon is sitting in the corner like a kicked puppy because the fam has collectively decided he did this and they will not forgive him. Even if Damian very clearly still wants to be near him, they keep gently and not-so-gently inserting themselves between them like “oh Jon, funny seeing you here—go home.”

I'm laughing emotional that Superbat is going viral. Like if it were a few years ago we would see bad comments about the ship and something like that. I'm really happy with the hype of the couple even though I don't ship them both that much (I'm in my Batlantern era) OMG it's so good to see Bruce/Batman being loved with other dynamics.!

Oh great the newest Superman movie isn't out and Superman fans already have to tolerate horrible characterisation from Batman fans who ship them but don't care about Superman
Dear Anon, are you up to a real discussion?
First: how old are you? And I don't mean it in a condescending way, I'm just curious.
See, I turned 40 this year and I'm writing this while on break during my shift as a grocery cashier.
I'm in the fandom since I was in my early twenties, when I was a college student with a lot of free time and mental energy. Now I'm married with two children, a mortage, a potpourri of both physical and mental health issues... I swear I got so many commitments that sometimes I'm on the verge of a burnout.
Still, it's a pretty normal life with a pretty normal amount of stress, and I Iove what I've achieved. Only, the time for engage with fandoms and writing fanfics is now very short and very very cherished. Some days I wish I can turn back time and be carefree again, just for a little bit, so I would be able to truly enjoy the fandom life like before. Though I would do it in a different way: I wouldn't care in slightest about other people opinions.
Because now I can see it: such a waste of time and energy! Who cares about what some stranger enjoy to write or read in their spare time? Does this affect my life in any way? Nope! So why should I give it any fuck?
Why should you give any fuck to me and my  personal view on some fictional characters and their dynamics?!
Anon, I'm giving you this advice with the same spirit of an old wise auntie: do yourself a huge favour and enjoy your time in the fandom without giving a shit about others' preferences. I should be a no one to you. Anyone should be no one to you. You are choosing to give us a relevance that we don't have and don't want, and I'm begging you to stop.
Do it for yourself, since nobody else is gonna do it for you.
That being said, if anyone is actually interested engaging a honest conversation, feel free to submit an ask. But since I'm really too old and tired for any kind of anon hate, I'm unabling the anonymous asks.
Sincerly,
A well seasoned, grey-haired, presbyopic veteran fangirl

Ok I really hate when people quote Roy’s “don’t you dare settle for fine” as an example of how the writers fucked up the ending (usually it’s in regards to Rebecca because of t*dbecca but then they always GROUP ROY IN) and then people comment like “Roy didn’t even get fine he got NOTHING he’s ALONE” …as if Roy’s whole entire arc wasn’t about learning to let people in and accept help and let himself be happy and comfortable in a community of his own making?
Arguably Roy ends up the least “alone” on the show because he’s finally learned how to be vulnerable in front of others and allow himself to truly be close to people in the ways that matter. Like first of all I’m desperate for people to realize “Being Single” does NOT equal “Being Alone” in a general sense. But ALSO, specifically in his case, just because he and Keeley or he and Jamie or he and Keeley AND Jamie don’t “canonically” end up together they are fully shown to be close and arguably ARE ~canonically~ the two most important people in his life outside of his family so like…? The door is SO EASILY open for whatever interpretation you prefer, platonic or romantic??
Tumblr media
(I know this is a bts pic but I can’t find a pic of the actual scene lmao you know what I mean) anyway DOES THIS LOOK LIKE A MAN WHO SETTLED FOR FINE?? Leave him the hell out of this!!!

I know it's awful but this is how I feel about half my favourite hero's. I think Hal Jordan calls men with nail polish fags when he's drunk. I think Clark Kent gets uncomfortable with the idea of lesbians often because he isn't used to romance that doesn't center him. I think Damien Wayne struggles with the idea of a woman who is as competent as a man at literally anything. I think Tim Drake had a "good guy" phase in high-school.
These are some of my most beloved guys but they are guys! I enjoy the idea of them as fully realized people who are influenced by their maleness, who have to adjust and learn to be better people. I understand a part of this is me coming to terms with the men in my life whom I love but hold these terribly grating views, but a part of it is also just having fun with the idea that a superhero is a person and people are awkward and bad and completely malleable to all the little things around them.

Fandoms and Their Awful Habit of Undermining Female Characters to Favor Popular Ships
Hello, Tumblr folks. I’m back to share my controversial opinions here. Although, to be honest, this wasn’t the topic I had planned for my return (that was supposed to be about Star Wars, a subject that had me reflecting for two whole weeks about what I wanted to say; honestly, it stressed me out more than university).
But back to the important matter: I’ve noticed a troubling pattern within the DC fandom, particularly among those who ship TimKon (Tim Drake x Conner Kent). There’s a tendency to minimize or even disparage the romantic partners or ex-love interests of these characters, which I find unfair and harmful.
A clear example of this is Cassie Sandsmark, the second Wonder Girl. The way she’s often portrayed in the fandom is, at best, terrible. Not to mention the hostility toward her over a supposed “infidelity” that never actually happened. This not only affects Cassie as a character but also highlights a broader pattern: female characters are often the first to be attacked when they “get in the way” of a popular male ship.
This behavior is something we see repeatedly across different parts of the fandom:
Linda Park, Koriand’r, or Barbara Gordon when it comes to BirdFlash.
Nika/Flatline in the case of JonDami.
Iris West and Carol Ferris when it’s about HalBarry.
Lois Lane, Talia al Ghul, or Selina Kyle with Superbat.
Cheshire and Kyle Rayner’s many partners when JayRoy or JayKyle are involved.
And, of course, Cassie Sandsmark, Tamara Fox, or Stephanie Brown in the context of TimKon.
Don’t get me wrong: I like many of these ships, but I don’t think it’s necessary to tear down other characters to elevate a pairing.
Are there canon ships that lack chemistry and seem to exist “just because”? Sure, I won’t deny it. But hating female characters solely because of questionable writing decisions by the creators or editorial teams? That’s a whole different story. At the end of the day, the problem is bad writing, not the characters themselves.
My advice is simple: enjoy the ships and stories you like, respect other people’s preferences, and don’t scapegoat other characters just because the canon doesn’t align with your ship. If there’s something you don’t like, let it go, forget about it, and focus on what brings you joy in the fandom.
Fandoms have the potential to be amazing spaces, but only if we learn to appreciate them with respect and empathy.

I don't like seeing hate for Kent. He has PTSD, that doesn't mean Jodi should divorce him and leave him when he's most vulnerable. (I am not referring to all people who don't like him, just the people who insist he's a bad husband or Jodi should divorce him)

I've consumed like four different versions of King Lear this week, two of which were filmed, but one shot of Jonathan Hyde as the Earl of Kent consumed me so completely that I spent one dollar on samsung stickers to bring my vision to life.

Just to clarify, although I have many criticisms of the direction the genre is taking, I don't think there's anything wrong with consuming it. However, I don't think it's too much to ask adults (at least they should be adults) not to romanticize what they're reading, as has happened in booktook.
