On note of the Blockbuster thing and Dick’s over working himself, I can recall a time when after the first time Blockbuster got taken out, Dick was so lost emotionally and mentally, he went for months on end getting the absolute hardest cases and capers imaginable, getting more illnesses and injuries so much and frequently. It got so bad Bruce and Alfred had to drag him to the Batcave and Bruce had to get some tough love across.
He let Dick know that he was upset at him for failing to take care of himself and self forgive for what happened to Blockbuster. He forgives Dick for the latter case but will not tolerate Dick losing the value of his own life in self pity and guilt
Thoughts on this?
YES!!!
Dick overworks himself so hard that he kinda passes out and dreams so vivid that they're almost hallucinogenic but when he wakes up-

Bruce is PISSED. Ofcourse it's gotta be because Dick let Blockbuster die right? He just stepped aside and let Catalina take the shot despite the no kill. He broke the OATH the two of them had forged. That's why Bruce is mad right?!

WRONG WRONG WRONG!!

"You have no right to expect me to excuse you - for losing sight of the value of yours."
CMON BRUCE!!
He basically said "I don't care if you killed someone. If you want me to forgive you fine. But don't you dare fucking think for one second that I'll forgive you for almost dying."
Bruce is crazy about Dick. I've already talked before how he has control issues regarding Dick life but I want to reiterate that Bruce wants control of Dick's everything. His life, his relationships, his death.
You can see the visible rage in Bruce's body. You can see how hard he grips Dick's chin. He's furious that Dick would put his life below anyone's.
This isn't the only time Bruce gets furious at Dick almost dying either. Remember Forever Evil?

Nightwing (2011) Issue #30
His sole reason for beating Dick is LITERALLY beat his frustrations and fear that Dick almost died!! He's the one that died Bruce!! Why are YOU mad?!
The thing about Dick and Bruce's relationship or rather Bruce's relationship with Dick is that Dick could literally be standing in a room of blood and corpses and the first thing Bruce would do is rush over to him and check if he's okay. And then scold him because "what if they're blood accidentally got into you, Dick? Haven't I told you the dangers of bloodborne pathogens and other transmittable viruses? How dare you let them hurt you!"
Bruce has a no kill rule but sometimes when Dick's life is in danger he definitely looks the other way. No punishment if Dick does something to someone else but he travels at the speed of light when Dick lets something bad happen to him.
Not only that, he doesn't mind other people dying if it means saving Dick's life. Between the world surviving and Dick, he will always choose Dick. And how do I know that? Because he's done it before.

The justice league is gone.
The villains who actually wanted the end of the world are so shocked by the state it's in now that they've decided to become heroes. But none of that matters. It doesn't matter to Bruce that half the population is gone, people are killing, stealing, and dying. As long as Dick is alive - it's okay.
In fact an entire world could be corrupted beyond saying but as long as Dick isn't then it's a world worth saving.

Forever Evil Issue #3
Do you realize what this means? It means that Bruce's scale of measurement for evaluating the quality of a whole fucking planet IS Dick Grayson.
Even an hyper-intelligent construction questions what happens if his favorite, Dick, dies.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Infinite Crisis Issue #3
What happened after Blockbuster, where Bruce completely ignored the death of him. Ah-I said ignored but the reality is created an excuse for - is completely in line with his relationship with Dick and more importantly highlights two things.
Breaking the no-kill rule is acceptable if it's Dick Grayson or relates to Dick Grayson.
Bruce is crazy about Dick and he will go crazy for him.

PART 1
Never-before-seen photo of four royal mothers, including Queen Elizabeth and Princess Margaret with their newborn babies, as a personal token to doctor who delivered them to go on display at Buckingham Palace

It is a remarkable and never seen before snapshot of royal motherhood.
The image, taken by Lord Snowdon, shows Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Margaret, Princess Alexandra, and the Duchess of Kent holding their newborn babies in 1964.
It was captured by Princess Margaret's celebrated photographer husband as a personal token of thanks for Sir John Peel, the royal obstetrician who delivered all four babies within two months — Prince Edward, Lady Sarah Chatto, James Ogilvy, and Lady Helen Windsor.
And it will be one of the highlights of a new exhibition Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography, opening tomorrow at The King's Gallery, Buckingham Palace.
The charming picture will be displayed along with a handwritten letter from Princess Margaret to her sister, asking her 'Darling Lilibet' to sign a print 'as a souvenir of an extraordinary two months of delivery.'
The new exhibition — the first to be held at the The King's Gallery since it was renamed following the death of Queen Elizabeth — will also include The Queen Mother's personal copy of her daughter's Coronation portrait and the earliest surviving colour photographic print of a member of the Royal Family.
It charts the evolution of royal portrait photography from the 1920s to the present day through more than 150 items from the Royal Collection and Royal Archives.
The photographs presented in the exhibition are vintage prints – the original works produced by the photographer – most of which are on display for the first time.
Alessandro Nasini, curator of Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography, said: 'The Royal Collection holds some of the most enduring photographs ever taken of the Royal Family, captured by the most celebrated portrait photographers of the past hundred years – from Dorothy Wilding and Cecil Beaton to Annie Leibovitz, David Bailey, and Rankin.
Alongside these beautiful vintage prints, which cannot be on permanent display for conservation reasons, we are excited to share archival correspondence and never-before-seen proofs that will give visitors a behind-the-scenes insight into the process of creating such unforgettable royal portraits.'
'Royal Portraits: A Century of Photography' is at The King's Gallery, Buckingham Palace, from tomorrow (May 17) until October 6, 2024.

What if: Lexor
One day, Superman and his allies were battling Lex and co.
A blast happened, and they were all teleported to another planet. It was under a red Sun and was quite different from that of Earth.
The heroes became separated.
Overtime, Lex and his ilk became conquerors over the less technologically advanced people. Lex was regarded as a hero by many in the cities he ruled over.
Lex, after expanding his territory a great deal and solidifying his power, began focusing on finding the heroes, particularly Superman. He sent minions looking for him throughout his territory, in the cities and tribes. He even made deals with rival warlords for them to look for Kal-El in their own territories.
They looked everywhere for the brave warrior.
Unbeknownst to any, a small tribe eked a living within the inhospitable deserts. They often picked up refugees who had fled from the fighting. Among them was a long-haired, pale, thin, & sickly man who was called the Storyteller.
As his title suggests, he told stories that brought such wonder to his audience. He would be frequently surrounded by children pestering him for great tales. Even the adults would listen. Some, such as the more cynical, consider him a weak cripple barely worth having in the tribe.
The wiser ones noticed how his stories contained great wisdom. Many would go to him for advice. And when he spoke, many listened.
The Storyteller was a kind man who happily looked after the children and offered assistance wherever he could help. Unfortunately, he had a mysterious illness that caused him to be weak and frequently was bed-ridden.
One day, soldiers came, looking for any able-bodied men that fit the description given to them by their superiors.
What happens next?
I was inspired by tribal stories + the Clex fic “Apokalips Now” and based this idea off my “What if: Under the Yellow Sun” post + Lexor from the comics + Conan + depictions of desert planets in the media
I envision that Clark, due to his Kryptonian education, would be rather savvy when it came to survival on almost any type of planet.
His tactile field (something every Kryptonian has) would also come in handy as far as sensing danger. (Think anime sensing killing intent or incoming danger).
His drawback: yellow Sun withdrawal that severely impacts his own health.
No one would suspect it, though, as his cousin Kara would continue to be in peak physical condition.
The reason?
She was born in Kandor (when it was still under Brainiac control) and sent to Earth after her early development. Her body didn’t develop a dependence for yellow sunlight like Kal’s did.
So imagine a weak yet wily Clark, on a journey to reunite with his friends, battling his condition while avoiding detection or outright fleeing from his most deadly enemies, in a hostile environment, with few or no allies to rely on?
Quite frankly I find it thrilling.
Meanwhile, in the country of Lexor, within its shining capital, New Metropolis, Emperor Lex Luthor is excitedly waiting for when he’ll throw the now mortal Superman into his Grand Coliseum and defeat him in single combat.
How the hell is he supposed to show his superiority over the alien with a weak, pathetic version of him?!
And, despite his obvious upper hand, the alien continues to remain defiant, speaking stories that mock him.
The alien defies him, either outright or behind the scenes, constantly undermining his authority!
Threats and violence are only met with inhuman blue eyes shining with unyielding determination!

I think, as a treat, Dick should been able to keep the Hypnos stuff without all the annoying failsafe's or whatever. I mean, we don’t really talk about it but technically Dick had superpowers for a bit and I think he should of been able to use them to scare the shit out of villians + random little siblings who invade his apartment at 4:00am.
Random supervillain of the week, who due to plot convivence has been able to capture Nightwing and is about to remove his mask: Finally, after all this time! I can find out who the real person behind the mask is!
Nightwing, who knows exactly what’s about to happen and could probably stop it but thinks this could be the funniest thing to happen to him since Rainbow Batman: Uh huh. Oh no, I am so scared!
Supervillian: Behold! The real face of Nightw- OH MY GOD WHAT THE FUCK

Gothamites during during pride month
Gothamite 1: Are we ever going to address the fact that Batman is homophobic?
Gothamite 2: Explain.
Gothamite 1: I mean, have you SEEN half of the criminals in this city? They should get a free pass during June. Be gay, do crimes all that.
Gothamite 2: I'm sorry, you think the Bat is straight? Have YOU seen him? He has too much flair and drama for a straight man not to mention the looks he gives Superman during Justice League related fights
Gothamite 1: You right. Gay on gay crime?

superman: the man of steel gallery
[ID: a pin-up of Clark Kent trying to get a haircut. He's in his Superman costume and is sitting on his cape in a salon chair with one of his legs crossed over his knee. On the floor is several pairs of broken hair scissors as the hairdresser breaks a pair of large garden shears in an attempt to cut his Super-mullet. Lois watches them from the sidelines with an amused smirk as Clark is looking down and is casually reading Detective Comics #692. END ID]

Look, I get that "the love of my life died and I turned evil" is a classic trope in fiction but I also think it's super interesting that there are multiple elseworlds where Lois dies and Clark turns into an evil dictator, when that's also Darkseid's origin story.
