Writing any kind of story is a scary proposition, especially if it deals with personal stuff. And writing about trans people during a bogus moral panic is especially daunting -- it's easy to either pull your punches, or feel as though the burden of good trans representation weighs on your shoulders. The good news is that we are living during a time of extreme riches when it comes to trans stories, and a ton of wonderful authors are writing trans tales that defy categorization and bust through boundaries. So please write the story that speaks to you, the story that only you can tell about your own obsessions and dreams. It can be scary or funny or comforting or escapist, or all of the above — don't worry that what you write will be singled out as the One True Trans Story, or seen as a representation of all trans people. Just write your story.

i love how miss tracy never tries to be subtle with the order’s eugenicist, misogynistic and racist values and beliefs. from culling female scions to moriaen not being allowed a seat at the Table, to their reaction when nick chose bree as his page to the regents’ refusal to reconcile with vera’s rape, to the colonialist history they avoid, to even arthur himself taking advantage of bree’s medium abilities. it’s very in your face and you can never forget it throughout the whole series, which i don’t understand why that’s a negative trait in some people’s eyes especially considering the context of the year (2020) lb was published. but anyways, miss tracy did her big one

Trans Day of Staying In and Having a Nice Book
Tumblr media
TRANS DAY OF STAYING IN AND HAVING A NICE BOOK! returns for 2025. Are you a trans person living in the UK? Would you like someone to buy you a book of your choice for TDoV as a gift? The request form is now open: here
Individual book requests will be posted here in a while, but in the meantime allies can also donate towards the funding pot which will go towards buying nice books for trans people to enjoy as a lil gift
(once again, this project was inspired by the work of the very very good Gender Reveal)

there are lots of things to do during pride! for example, you could dig up your mother's grave, take her clothes, and dress your father in them to make him into your new mother! :)

Thinking about this page tonight. Remembering why the book makes people cry. This page would make me cry, right now, if I was still capable of such things.
