Is it just me or does this line hit different when you remember that David Tennant actually has a non-binary kid who uses they/them pronouns, and has worn this non-binary rainbow pin to a bunch of interviews in support of them—?

EDIT: So this has circulated to some TERF spaces and the reading comprehension is as expected, so for clarification: if you do not relate to this art, then it is not for you. This is not “oh, you would rather people kill themselves than detransition!!” No. It’s not. You should get the gold medal for mental gymnastics tho.

I want trans folks to survive. Trans existence brings me pure exhalation. Anti trans legislation is forcing people to detransition, either by making it medically impossible or making the world so hostile that they will detransition for safety. There is no shame in detransitioning. If it was for safety, then thank you for surviving another day. If it was because you realized that you aligned more with the gender you were assigned at birth, then I am proud of you for finding what works best for you.

Detransition is not an option for me. If I am going to die, then I’ll die as my authentic self. I have no plans on killing myself. If the cowards and bigots in power want me to die, then they will have to do it themselves because I’m not doing them any favors. Trans rights are human rights!

Queer kids deserve to become queer adults. To grow up supported. To go through adolescence finding themselves, instead of going through their 20s grieving the years they weren’t safe and had to pretend to be someone else. To be safely queer before financial independence. Wanting queer youngsters to not have a lifetime of conditioning and trauma to unpack isn’t child abuse, it is literally the opposite. Queer kids deserve to be safe.

Even if it seems like the whole world is against you, I promise there are people out there who care about you. One day there will be a world where we can live freely.

It's okay for you, specifically you, to be trans.

I'm not sure how long you've been looking for permission to be trans. You don't need the permission, but you have it.

There's a whole community of other trans people that want to support you.

Protect trans kids so they have the chance to grow up! Every child deserves to feel safe and loved. I saw several works of art depicting trans tigers and wanted to join in, even if the nonbinary one looks like something for the LSU Tigers.
