what happens when past present and future are indistinguishable?
quantum theory if they weren't afraid to let lesbians in the room
here i am after stewing on *this* sarah schauer tiktok for a bit - which starts with "have you ever hated the patriarchy so much that you ended up teaching yourself quantum physics?" my musings on this concept reminded me that the world's true and foremost quantum physics lecture is found in relationship. hear me out.....
Tumblr media
you can read the theories and study the concepts. but maybe nothing will move you more to researching spacetime than when you meet someone who you feel you've already met. you recognize firsthand how theoretical time and space must truly be, and you pursue answers because you're so blown away by what you're experiencing. someone has to have experienced this before. and the further down you go, the more you realize it is all cyclical. cyclical to the point of having no true separation. the theory of relativity tells us that time is not measured in an absolute way - it's more dependent on the observer. past, present, and future all coexist somehow within spacetime, interwoven without much distinction. some days will feel like 5 years ago, others feel oddly futuristic. when you let yourself dream, you can see potential universes unfolding for yourself. you will know today's date, but that doesn't mean you feel it. given that the majority of our best spacetime theories end up being some version of "yeah we can't really make solid rules about this, we're just perceiving the best we can", it's up to you to make sense of your current linear time experience. if the beauty of time is differentiated through the eye of the beholder, who else could meaningfully dictate my experience? i smell a candle in Target and it's 2015.
let's take it a step further - if matter cannot be created or destroyed (the law of conservation of mass, if you're nasty), all of these pieces have been here in infinite configurations for as long as we can conceptualize. statistically speaking, the same groupings were bound to happen a few times. given the whole time debacle mentioned above, there is genuinely no way that some of the same pieces of carbon haven't found each other before. people ask if you believe in love as first sight and you're supposed to pretend it's not universal law. here you are again - i loved you then, i love you now - now is no different from then, then is just an extension of now - i never stopped, i just needed to remember. by this same logic, i already know the great loves of my life, i just haven't remembered them yet! i already know on a physical level what it feels like to love them and to be embraced by them and to be wholly accepted as myself. on both my best and worst days, i remember i am always connected to these loves - i picture them in my head, nameless and faceless but identifiable through feeling. i know the feeling so well because it's not our first time doing this! in the meantime, i find inspiration in connecting with the feelings that seem out of place. i remember to write these love letters i will one day send.
to further complicate things, what we immediately label as romantic love in these sort of whirlwind connections often ends up to be something else, though equally as important. that instant feeling of recognition does not always work out to be a compatible romantic relationship this time around, but this isn't the only thing possible for the dynamic to serve us. love itself is much more vast than any singular romantic relationship. often, love is more about keeping you on the path you're supposed to travel this lifetime. like, "i'm back in this lifetime to remind you of what you will need to find fulfillment, in whichever way it best suits you to learn it". sometimes this apparition of love is actually the embodiment of all of your worst anxieties and fears. your relationship with this person feels so divinely triggering that you have no choice but to bear witness. you might find it easier to love your shadows when they appear to you as someone else. sometimes that entirely random person you find yourself infatuated with is the one who inspires you to find your creative medium/introduces you to a career path you’re passionate about/serves to reflect the parts of yourself you found hardest to love. these relationships are never a waste! you're continually brought closer to yourself. you feel that love, you let it change you, you set it free and it sets you free in return. isn't that what love is all about?
adding a note here- i started reading Notes on Complexity (one of the books mentioned in the earlier tiktok) and one of the first things he says is a dedication to his partner Mark. i swear, any time there is really meaningful interconnectedness theoretical physics-esque discussion that catches my eye, it will have been penned by someone queer. perhaps i am naturally biased toward finding such content, but whatever. i find it beautiful how queer love often ends up turning you into a physicist. love that demands you understand the entirety of the gravity of your situation so you can say with certainty at the end of the day "this whole thing, in its enormous complexity, transpired so i could experience your love - as i always have, to some extent, and always will - beyond this physical form". i want to learn every little detail about how we could find each other and what it means that we did. i want to learn about all of the past versions we've been and explore where we get to go this time. what will we teach each other? what is there to know?

I'm reading the book Notes on Complexity by Neil Theise:
1. Love the book so far, I'm almost done
2. I skipped ahead and read the Afterward, and it made me tear up. I needed to see those words
3. I highly recommend this book if interested in life, complex systems, or conciousness. It's also very easy to read, if you don't have a science background. The author made it very easy to understand the topics of each chapter.
4. The part about complex systems being driven by local interactions? Life changing for me. Society develops from each person's individual local actions. Ant food lines form because an ant decides to get food. The point is you don't have to do something huge to change the world for the better. You make a difference in the whole system, every time you make a choice or do any particular thing. You are shaping the system we're in. Just by doing whatever you do. So any time you're kind to someone, that may inspire them to be kind to someone, and so on, until a lot of the system is being kinder. It's easy to feel powerless in the world. It's a nice reminder that small local actions end up shaping the whole mass of huge systems we are a part of - our own bodies, our families, our communities, our societies, our country, our planet, our universe.

when i say "misa amane deserved better" just know i mean it in the "misa amane deserved to have her personality, backstory, and internal monologues expanded upon just as much as her male counterparts and shouldn't have been written as just an extension of light" and not in the "misa amane is a poor baby angel who did no wrong" way.

a show doesn't necessarily have to be ABOUT queerness to BE a queer show. it's a cultural dialect that cishets don't quite speak.
edit: i gotta clarify that the shows do indeed still have to have actual queer characters in them to count

Half-foots are highly discriminated against in the world of dungeon meshi.
They have a difficult time living in places outside of their own territories because places where larger races live aren’t built for their size and crowds can be dangerous.
they’re the least valued race by long lived races because their life spans are the shortest out of all the races. this means that they’re dehumanized and often considered disposable. their superior senses make other races use them as “lures” when hunting succubi/mermaids (usually dying in the process).
They’re often mistaken for/treated like children because of their appearances, and because of this they have a difficult time getting jobs because it’s assumed that they’re immature/can’t handle it.
Because of this, when living outside of Half-foot territories they’re forced to get money by any means necessary (often resorting to crime), so other races stereotype them as “cunning” “greedy” and “manipulative”.
On top of that, members of long lived races who tend to fetishize them.
Even the name “Half-foot” is discriminatory.
Ryoko Kui does a fantastic job at world building.
But even after all of that, im not gonna stop talking about how bad i wanna put Chi Chi in my pocket.

WHY have i seen so little Bill!Jon art. I thought we as a TMA community collectively agreed that Jon will do stupid things for information (INCLUDING SHAKING A DANGEROUS BEING’S HAND WHEN HE KNOWS BETTER THAT LITERALLY HAPPENED IN CANON 😭)/silly
But anyways!! I got to thinking that if Bill appeared to S2 Jon and offered him information about Gertrude’s murder Jon would make a deal faster than a used car salesman

tips on refrigerator ownership for the mentally ill
1.) letting food go bad does NOT make you a Bad Person.
2.) it is okay to throw out only one thing at a time. even especially if there are a lot of expired things in there.
3.) give yourself permission to throw out tupperware once in a while.

So I watched a lot of Square One as a kid and I can still sing you the chorus of the Infinity song and I don't understand how it doesn't go the other way. Like, if you can calculate 10^-35 meters, why not 10^-36? Why ISN'T it turtles all the way down?

Prepare for the unexpected. (DPxDC)
Everyone knew about the reign of Pariah Dark. Even those who did not dabble in those realms have heard the tale of the tyrant. A power-hungry man who ruled over the dead with an iron fist.
Following the rise of Pariah Dark, his realm had been effectively cut off from communication. Many mystics and magic users knew better than to open the door of nightmares that could arise if Pariah Dark's reach went further than his own realm.
Except, the universe had plans to bring the realm of the dead back into the cards.
A new opponent, one that had all of Earth's heroes scrambling for options. A being with powers of a god over weather, destruction was on the horizon. A world ending threat.
It's the only reason the Justice League was doing this. In a deep bunker, far from close civilization as a precaution, the heroes looked on with grim expressions.
The world was already being threatened. It would be destroyed regardless of what the league did. So it only made sense to make the last ditch effort. To summon someone strong enough to defeat the threat.
No one wanted to do it. No one wanted to be the one to pull the realm of the dead back to the living. The consequences were untold if this succeeded. If Pariah Dark was freed and defeated the threat, whose to say he won't want control?
That was a problem for later. For the aftermath. For now, the league could only watch on with bated breath as Constantine completely the summon ritual.
They watched on as the shadows in the room seemed to darken and grow. As the sigil sputtered to life with a glow that was growing increasingly brighter. A sudden gust of wind rushed through the room, the temperature began to drop with eaching ticking second.
And then it was all gone.
The room stood perfectly still. Just as it had been moments before. Nothing changed. No giant king standing before them, no sign that the ritual worked.
The room stood deadly still for another beat before the murmurs started. The team trying to make sense of the situation, figure out what went wrong.
Constantine swore up and down that this was the correct ritual, taking offense that they would even think the problem was on his end. It only made it better when it finally happened.
A loud sound ripped through the room, pulling everyone's attention back to the summoning circle. Just in time to see a tear appear in the space above the circle.
A thin tear that ran the length of eight feet. The fabric of the dimension seems to curl at the edges, pulling back to reveal a deep glowing swirl of greens. A dark gloved hand reached through, fingers curling around the edge of the tear, stretching it even further.
A portal. The ritual had worked, but there had been a delay. A delay that had every hero nerves on edge. Each team member tensed, weapons at the ready as they watched the being stretch the portal to the right size.
Then, a foot stepped out with a heavy thud. A dark boot that looked otherworldly despite its similarity to mortal clothing. A deep black that seemed never-ending. A second foot quickly followed before a full body emerged from the portal.
Not many people in the room have ever seen Pariah Dark, let alone know what to expect. Based on what Constantine and Zatara had said, this wasn't Pariah Dark.
A man had stepped out of the portal, standing at almost seven feet tall, and built like a brick house. One glance at the glowing white hair, deadly red eyes, and shard teeth was enough to know this being was not to be messed with.
But there was no giant show of armor or royal garbs. There is no large crown at the top of his head or jewelry from the infinite realms laced around his neck.
Instead, the man stood before them in combat boots, worn-in ripped jeans, a graphic t-shirt, and a spiked leather jacket. Despite his almost normal clothing choice, the man's jacket seemed to be a never-ending depth of the dark night sky. If one was to look closely enough, the cosmos could almost be made out in the sea of darkness.
None of that would have prepared them for when the man spoke. His tone sounded more bored than anything as he took a step forward.
"Oh, so now you need the help of the dead." The man had spoken, running a hand through his hair. When Batman took a step forward to speak, the man raised a hand. Immediately commanding silence in the single gesture. "I'm on babysitting duty and have yet to have a cup of coffee. I'll be right back."
Just like that, both the man and portal vanished into thin air. Leaving behind a group of stunned heroes. Not only was the man not Pariah Dark, but he was also supposedly babysitting.
"Did that just-"
The Flash had been the first voice to speak up, his eyes trained on where the man had once stood. Except he had barely made it through the first few words before the man was suddenly back.
The man that now had a child hanging off his shoulders and another teen being held up by his scruff. Unlike the man, these kids looked human.
Too human for Bruce's liking. The dark black hair and bright blue eyes had every heroes eyes flickering to Batman for just the briefest moment.
"This isn't fair! I'm not even the king. Why do I have to be here!" The teenager had been complaining the moment the man had reappeared. Arms crossed tight over his chest and seemingly used to being held dangling. "Besides, who brings kids to a show down! Wait til I tell mom about this."
"Aw, come on, Danny. This is gonna be fun!!" The younger girl seemed in much better spirits than the teen, Danny. She had climbed up the large man, sitting on his shoulders and resting her arms on the mess of glowing hair. "It's like take your kids to work day! Ooo, Dan! Can we fight too!?"
Unlike the two kids, the man looked purely exhausted and annoyed. The man, Dan, dropped Danny like a sack of potatoes as he took a long drink from the travel cup in his hand.
It didn't take a genius to recognize the look of an exhausted parent in Dan's expression. A look many of the league members were well acquainted to. A look that even had Batman grimacing with sympathy.
"Can it, little shits. You two were grounded, remember." Dan had growled at the kids before shifting his focus back on the team of heroes before them. His glowing eyes set in a deadly glare. "Pariah Dark isn't coming, and he never will. He's been dethroned and banished. We're the best you've got."
A summoning that started with a group of on edge and scared heroes looking for the ghost king, ended in a way no one expected.
No one was even sure if it made any sense. They weren't sure if they should feel hopeful or in despair.
Because truly, what was a ghostly man with two seemingly human children against a godlike foe with the control over the weather?
The unspoken question of power and ability seemed to vanish following Dan downing the metal travel cup of coffee, and crushing it in his fist.
He tossed it to the side, straighting up his posture as he looked over the heroes. Dan might not be a hero, but he's been playing family for too long.
An almost feral, bloodhungry grin spread across the man's face, sharp fangs on full display. The look made the man suddenly look even less human. He looked closer to a demon from the pits of hell rather than the exhausted parent he looked just a few seconds ago.
"Point me in the direction of this bastard. It's been too long since I let loose and had some fun."

Thinking about marriage/women's rights on Vulcan Some may think that T'Pring not being allowed to divorce Spock was because he was going through the pon farr but if she were allowed to divorce him at all she probably would have done that a long time ago, confirmed by T'Pol when she's speaking with Koss, who isn't suffering from the pon farr. She says that he can choose another mate (without invoking a fight it seems: note the difference between a 'mate' and a 'challenger') and after he makes it clear that nothing she says will change his mind about marrying her, she finally threatens to declare a kal-if-fee. It's clear that Vulcan women cannot divorce/refuse to marry a man they've been betrothed to under any circumstances if A) He himself doesn't consent to ending their marriage or B) She doesn't have someone else waiting in the wings to be given to in his stead. Though, if the challenger she selects fails to win the fight, she'll have to marry her betrothed anyway unless (again) he decides he doesn't want her after the challenge. That seems like an incredibly unfair system, heavily biased towards men. SNW is an alternate universe in many obvious respects but most egregiously in that T'Pring has a lot of non-canonical agency over her relationship with Spock. It's interesting to me that Vulcan society has women in many positions of power and treats women as equal to men from what I've seen despite these laws. We don't really see Vulcans exhibiting a misogynistic attitude towards women in general but in TOS (perhaps because of its general writing style but it's still interesting to note) both Sarek and Spock take on patriarchal attitudes specifically regarding wives. Amanda says that 'of course' Sarek commands her because "he is a Vulcan and I am his wife." It's worthwhile in my eyes to note that she specifies 'wife' instead of attributing this attitude to women as a whole. Again, with TOS' writing style it wouldn't be out of place for her to say "he is a man and I am a woman." Spock, while in a pon farr induced irritation, states that it's "undignified for a woman to play servant to a man that isn't hers" - again implying that there's something specific about being a Wife in Vulcan society which is different from being a woman in general and demands subservience to a husband. This could perhaps stem from the extreme sense of ownership that Vulcan law has permitted men to have over women. A woman legally cannot point blank refuse marriage. There is no option which guarantees she won't have to marry her betrothed other than death. When T'Pau speaks of T'Pring she refers to her as being 'property' and Stonn, before being interrupted, states he's made 'the ancient claim' - we don't know what this is because he gets cut off but it's obvious they're both using the language of Vulcan law. Men are permitted true freedom to choose. If a woman wants to choose someone else to be with there is no option available to her other than the kal-if-fee which might result in the death of the one she wants to be with. And, if her lover fails, her husband can still just decide he wants to marry her and she'll be forced to. T'Pring gives two scenarios: One where Spock 'frees' her and one where he doesn't - it's still ultimately his decision which is clear when he ends the conversation with "Stonn, she is yours." This again isn't just because of the pon farr as T'Pol also goes through this. Koss can choose another mate and when the option is talked about there's no implication that this would result in any sort of fight (both by the casualness of its mention and by the fact that there's no formal word for it unlike the kal-if-fee.) Also, the fact that Koss does eventually grant T'Pol a divorce and it's all fine means that T'Pol isn't lawfully required to have another man waiting if her HUSBAND doesn't want her. It's ONLY required if SHE doesn't want her husband. Tradition must take precedence over individual desire UNLESS!!! You're a man. Then it's fine. Like, your parents might not be happy but legally you're golden.
#as a note do NOT read the comments on any T'Pol marriage clips on youtube they're full of 'haha women amiright' jokes about#how she's leading Trip on and being a bitch for not choosing him etc - if you become interested in female characters you learn#quickly just how much people still hate women displaying any amount of complexity/doing anything that isn't just falling into a man's arms#even if that hatred doesn't take the form of outright vitriol (aka: 'I feel so sad for Trip bc T'Pol's marrying some other guy')#Trip: T'Pol listen this arranged marriage stuff is no good - you've gotta be free! You have to do what YOU want to do!#T'Pol: -legally seen as property of her husband in the eyes of the law- ...............#<- not dunking on Trip it's just funny how easy it makes it seem - but!! He doesn't know all the facts#as evidenced by him saying T'Pol might 'call off the wedding' to her mother - T'Pol can't legally call off shit#It's also interesting how gender isn't really mentioned in any of the clips I've seen - it's very clear to me that T'Pol has no options#specifically because she's a WOMAN within her culture but that's almost like a quiet undercurrent and not focused on as a main#point of dissatisfaction - which I imagine it 1000% would be for Vulcan women when men have infinitely more freedom#Vulcan Man: I don't wanna marry this lady#Vulcan Law: Ok#Vulcan Woman: I don't wanna marry this guy#Vulcan Law: Noted. So - if you and your lover are willing to risk his life there's a chance (if he wins) that you can get out of marrying#him BUT if your husband kills your lover and still wants to marry you you DOOO have to marry him sorry you just gotta#<- this also makes it incredibly dangerous to in any way warn your legal husband that a kal-if-fee might be incoming#the element of surprise is a HUGE advantage when it comes to winning a fight to the death (which your lover can train for)#Vulcans#T'Pol#T'Pring#star trek#I don't think this is bad necessarily (as a fictional worldbuilding thing) but I wish it were explored more#It's especially interesting because it's an aspect of logical Vulcan society - it's clearly not logical but it's also clearly rooted deeply#in tradition which may mean Vulcan long ago used to have a much more extreme gender bias towards the male population#it just implies a lot that Vulcan has these old laws which are unfair towards women yet they still follow BUT women are treated as equal#citizens OUTSIDE of marriage! Maybe there was a feminist movement before? Is there another brewing? Where are the Vulcan feminists!

What are placements that could indicate an inferiority complex?
Inferiority complex
in the natal chart
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The feeling of being inferior towards something, someone or just as it relates to your sense of personal worth and talents. They can manifest in a multitude of ways, but here are some of the ones I can name off the top of my head, based on what I've seen people go through in my personal life.

🪽 Virgo moons
You are very hard on yourself. It can be quiet easy to get on your nerves or strike a cord, especially if you feel inadequate. Can be quiet bitter towards other people who they deem to have what these individuals want. Feels like a salt to their wounds.
🪽 Virgo Stellium
The people with Virgo Stelliums in my life are always second guessing themselves to some degree. They are such harder on themselves than other people that I know.
🪽 Scorpio Moons/Moon in the 8th
From my experience with them, these individuals tend to go one of both routes; either make everyone else the enemy and blame other's disapproval of them "jealousy" or beat themselves up. Seeing themselves as this monster that doesn't fit with the rest.
🪽 North Node hard aspect Sun, Moon or Mars
It can feel like the world is just against you with this placement. Everything you dofeels challenged, but it does make for a stronger character in the end.
🪽 Sun square Ascendant
Your identity, worth, and self image not in alignment with how you want to be seen or are perceived by others.
🪽 Sun square Midheaven
Your career, your reputation and authority figures demanding more from you. Sometimes your efforts just don't feel enough or go unnoticed.
🪽 Moon square Saturn
Feeling inadequate, being hard or strict on yourself. Feeling like you're stuck or stunted.
🪽 Chiron placement (same w Saturn)
Chiron often indicates fear, trauma, insecure but also healing. So by that logic, the Chiron placement in your chart tells you where and how you may feel or have been treated as inferior. I have an old post about it here. As for Saturn, hard aspects to your personal planets tell tend to indicate that person being especially hard on themselves.

🪽 Sun, Moon or Mars in the 12th house
Sometimes makes you feel invisible.
🪽 Chiron aspecting Sun
Literally feeling inadequate. Feeling like you aren't enough, being "lesser" or smaller than other people around you. You have a hard time proving yourself to others & yourself as well.
🪽 Neptune in the 1st house square saturn, sun or venus
A little more specific. Not really seeing yourself as who you are, wanting to perfect this image of yourself in your head (your can set impossible standards for yourself).
🪽 Singleton Sun, Moon, Chiron or Pluto
A "Singleton" planet refer to a singular planet in a hemisphere of your chart that is separated from the rest of your planets (usually also barely making aspects to other planets). This one is rather progression based though, it's something you don't notice early on but build up once it's triggered. You might be just fine throughout your early adulthood but that insecurity or need for something more, just develops at a later date. Sometimes it's like being thrown under the bus lol.
🪽 Ascendant square or opposite Venus
As you might've guessed, the way you look doesn't resonate with what you find to be beautiful or attractive. This comes from a sense of self perception. Feeling like you don't look beautiful or attractive enough (not to your satisfaction).

Mello x reader hcs
Warnings: mentions of sex, Mello is toxic (is anyone surprised?)
Word count: 400 ish
Tumblr media
Imagine having a on again/off again relationship with post-Kira AU Mello who
-Really shouldn't be involved with you and lives a life way too busy and dangerous to commit to a serious relationship, but can't ignore the chemistry you two have.
-Is weirdly vague about what he does for a living (because he's in the mob) but you're smart enough to figure out early on that it's less than legal, and eventually it becomes an open secret.
-Repeatedly bootycalls you, spends the night, and then disappears for days or weeks. Partially because he's in the mob, partially because he panics every time he starts to feel himself developing serious feelings for you.
-Likes to buy you gifts (especially to apologize for disappearing again) and has even gotten you matching couple's accessories despite his insistence that what you two have is casual. Just don't ask where he got the money for that bracelet from Tiffany's (cough drug ring cough).
-Slowly opens up to you a little about his past as he starts to trust you - losing his parents, growing up in an orphanage, the pressure to be the best in an institution full of brilliant children, and you slowly start to understand why Mello is the way he is.
-Shows rare glimpses of uncharacteristic vulnerability that make you realize he gives way more of a shit than he acts like he does (both about you and in general).
-Let the L word slip one time when you two were having drunk sex. He hoped you wouldn't remember (you did).
-Gets unexpectedly affectionate and cuddly in the afterglow of sex for a few minutes until he comes to his senses and remembers he's not supposed to get too attached to you....even though he definitely is.
-Hesitates the first time you touch his burn scars when you're lying in bed together. He'll never say it out loud, but he's insecure about them. No one else has ever touched them before, but he doesn't pull away. Over time, he actually begins to like it - that you don't hesitate to touch his scars and don't treat them like they're off-putting or repulsive.
