no but I genuinely think that person-first language is something that non-disabled people came up with to make themselves feel more comfortable.

We're not appreciating the Weird Barbie enough. It's said in the movie that she helps everyone who need help while they always see her as someone who's not as good as them. She was friends with all dismissed Barbies and Kens, was there to offer support and safe shelter for everyone who needed it in Kendom, without her nothing in the movie would've been alright. When Stereotypical Barbie calls her "ugly and unwanted" she still helps her.
She was representing a woman in women's world who was pushed aside by other women because she didn't fit in but still had more wisdom and kindness than everyone who thought they're better than her.

Identity-first version for person with FASD?
So, thing is, I have FASD, and I hate seperating my disabilities (at least the ones that affect my brain) from my identity so I'm asking for an identity-first verson of person with FASD (like autistic instead of person with autism, and kinetic instead of person with ADHD), I've yet found "FASD person" which generally I like but see the potential on mishearing it as "fast person" in spoken language, so I'm looking for an alternative.

Whether someone prefers being called autistic or a person with autism, others shouldn't need us to remind them that we are, IN FACT, people.
Kindly cease your neurosplaining.

It seems like we “individuals with autism” wouldn’t be treated as poorly as we are if person first language did what they think it does.

yeah we all know (and love <3) all the butches with masculine personality; and let me make it clear that you’re all loved and valid!! but let’s talk about butches that cannot or simply don’t want to get rid of their “feminine” traits and energy.
like seriously i could never kill a spider without screaming or change your car’s tire but i’ll definitely cook you the best dinner when you get home from work and i’ll be more than happy to stitch the holes of your favorite shirt, with all the patience in the world; because that’s how my mother and my grandmother used to show their love to me. i could never ever ever imagine being affectionate to someone in any other way.
something that always bothered me as a transmasc butch was the fact that everyone would clock me the moment i opened my mouth, which is already something that causes me waaaay too much dysphoria. so, i would try to “compensate” that by being the most masculine being that i could ever be. but deep down, i knew that i wasn’t being fully me, you know?
not being “masculine enough” would often make me feel like i wasn’t butch enough, that i wasn’t doing the “job” correctly or something. at least where i’m from, people expect me to fill that role and pretty much just act like a man 24/7.
but as i was cooking some dinner for myself and my mom tonight, something hit me; i’ll never be 100% masculine when it comes to my traits, my energy or even the way i speak. i’ll protect you, i’ll be there for you and i’ll try my best to intimidate whoever tries something bad with you. but sometimes, maybe i’d wanna be protected too; maybe i’d wanna be the little spoon every now and then; maybe i’ll cry in front of you and expect you to dry my tears. and that won’t ever make me less masculine or less butch.
i hope that my future partner understands that, no matter what happens; at the end of the day, i’ll still be your guy. i’ll just be a sensitive guy, you know? it’s kinda scary to admit this out loud but i feel like someone out there would like to know that they’re not alone. butches come in all shapes and forms, and it may be scary to be this kind of butch in a world where masculinity is praised, but i think we’ll be fine.
and also my dinner was so delicious what the fuckkk 🤤🤤🤤 i’m such a good cook like i genuinely believe i’m the butch version of guy fieri

as far as being a trans person in japan goes, despite all of the difficulties that come with that, I think one of the most accommodating things has been... just the nature of pronouns themselves, in the language.
sure, literal translations of gendered third person pronouns exist (彼 and 彼女, kare and kanojo, he and she respectively), but... like, nobody uses them. for one, they're both words for "boyfriend" and "girlfriend" respectively (even if 彼氏, kareshi, is more common than just 彼), so you run the risk of a... rather awkward miscommunication. but, perhaps more pertinently, it's much more common to just use a person's name or title.
on the other hand... you know what does have gendered nuance and is commonly used? the word "I." or, more precisely, all the different first person pronouns in the language.
Tumblr media
just by saying "I," "me," or "my," you can... so seamlessly make a statement about yourself and your identity in the middle of nearly any sentence.
queer people use this to express their gender identity. queer people use this to express their subversion of gender roles, too. in retrospect, it makes saying "my name is [name] and my pronouns are [pronouns]" feel so clunky when I can just... move on to my next idea, and just casually convey similar information!
speaking english in the states, i feel like it can be dangerous, sometimes, to introduce yourself with your pronouns, especially when the whole point is to greet people you're meeting for the first time. best case scenario, it's like, oh, those are your pronouns, that's cool. worst case scenario, it's "oh, pronouns? you're one of those trannies, aren't you?" much more commonly, though, is "oh he identifies as a woman," which Makes Me Want To Tear My Hair Out All The Time Why.
when i'm in japan, though, I can just be me, and simply, casually, refer to myself as such. and I think that's pretty cool.

Did anyone else noticed that Charles seems to be the only one that puts effort to save them from death or being taken away?
Maybe I need to watch the show again, but of all the times they were in danger of being separated, Charles is the first one to step in and defend them. I don’t think I remember seeing Edwin step in or fight or do something to avoid the situation, I wonder why that is? (Unless he did but I don’t remember because I have a brain of a goldfish) but I wonder why, some times it gets me thinking if it was Edwin’s turn to fight for them, is he going to do it? WILL he do it? Is he willing to go as far as attacking someone (like Charles did with the night nurse) or even worse? What would he do in that situation?
It gets me thinking as well, even if Charles doesn’t feel the same way. His feelings for Edwin (platonically) are so so deep and immense that he would literally do ANYTHING to not get separated from him almost like he literally CANNOT live without him, maybe he cannot imagine what he would do if he doesn’t have Edwin by his side. They have been together for so many years, he’s used to him. Losing him would probably send him into a mental breakdown or worse, and that is something interesting to think about.

I think this is often for a few reasons
- it leaves a lot less room for characterization errors (if thats something readers care about, which sometimes they don’t mind)
- most shows and visual media is naturally done in third person so to read fan works for that media in first is unusual
- most fan works are done in third person and so it’s sort of seen as a default where as books have a full mix
For clarification
1st person: I sat in the chair and looked over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” I asked.
2nd person: You sat in the chair and look over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” You asked.
3rd person: She sat in the chair and looked over to the window. “What’s Jon doing here?” She asked.
Which works together with Past, Present, and Future tenses too. They aren’t the same things, but they do go together.
Past (3rd): Jon pulled out a chair and sat down.
Present (3rd): Jon pulls out a chair and sits down.
Future (3rd): Jon will pull out a chair and sit down.

I love how the only intelligent thing lestat said in the whole iwtv book is that Louis was in a dangerous situation (predicting what will happen to Louis and Claudia in Paris many years later) because of not only his weak powers, passivity and refusal to feed on people but mostly because of his sensitivity (a real double edged weapon), he being a kind of romantic philosopher in search of answers. Louis at the beginning of the book feels superior to his maker, he experiences vampirism as if it was the greatest experience he has ever had and the greatest adventure of his life, his 'vampire eyes' are for him to admire the beauty around him in his endless search of arts, aesthetics and human nature. Actually Louis believes that it is lestat and his rude, ignorant attitude to be the real peculiarity among vampires and that outside new orleans he could find many members of his species who share his love for knowledge and his sensitivity (even claudia, although she has many traits in common with Louis, cannot understand the motivation for his behavior and pain). But Lestat was right, many vampires are cruel solitary predators that don't need Louis and his reverence for books/art/moral principles, killing is basically their only belief. Louis, although at the beginning of the story could not know it, has always been the exception among his species, armand himself in iwtv affirms that he doesnt understand Louis, is a mistery to him. Lestat in tvl says that Louis is the most interesting, particular vampire he has ever met (even more than marius! and anne rice said that lestat is the person who understands Louis and his love for humanity the most) . So Louis had to implement a change to survive during and after the events of Paris and to the modern era. His feeling of spasmodic longing for human life had waned a lot, allowing him to find some semblance of stability and protection for his inner world. He becomes armand's reflection at the end of the novel, even colder and more dissociated than armand
