Call him the best swordsman ever and you MIGHT see him blush since he'll be so off guard. Just might.

Will compliment you back in private, especially if you're dating.

Isn't one to focus on looks when appreciating someone, but will if you just did. Mostly points out your skills.

After some time, he won't feel embarrassed at all and will get a little cocky.

Usopp: A heart-shaped device. Dunno what that device would specifically be but it’s probably based on whatever you needed and he decided to spruce it up for you.

Sanji: Mr. Prince does everything. Bugs you two dozen glitter roses, large teddy bears, and heart shaped everythings. Gives the gifts to you all day and makes sure to make a romantic vday dinner with you. Lots of kisses.

Chopper: cotton candy!!! And it’s pink!!! And kinda looks like a heart!! (Please ignore the way he wants to take a bite of it… or don’t and just forfeit all your possessions to him).

Robin: A lovely scrapbook and some flowers. She likes homemade gifts for you and her, so she made sure to buy those for you to always carry the memories you two shared with each other.

Franky: a miniature boat with figures of you and him he dubs the ‘love boat’. It’s so cheesy but it’s so expertly crafted and made you can’t help but be l happy about it.

Brook: a new song just for you. Brook is always happy to perform for you, and you’re his biggest muse so he’s always got you on the brain. He crafts a love song just to express his feelings for you.

Jinbei: a nice new tea and some desserts for you two to indulge in and relax with. Sweets are always better with you <3

Buggy: New makeup and a matching outfit with him. He loves when your outfits complement his so he wants to have you dress up in a similar fashion to him!

Mihawk: Nice homemade meals and a romantic dinner. He’s extra attentive and romantic today, making sure to pepper you in kisses and hold you close to him.

it's the perfect place to have early lunches on sunny days and a late dinner on calm and cool nights under warm string lights.

your extensive knowledge of plants and your natural green thumb make you a versatile member of the crew.

on one end of your greenhouse, you were growing medical herbs for chopper's research and medicines. on another side, you made a special place for nami's tangerine trees you helped her take great care of.

on another corner were many vegetables for sanji's amazing dishes. and close by were the sweetest fruits in all of the grand line that would sometimes go missing the next morning

which is why you have decided to start locking up the greenhouse at night.

but who can forget, the flower crowns !!

a small gesture that would have a lasting impact on each of them, all with their own flower that you believed best represented them based on the flowers' meanings and your crew's personalities.

luffy puts his crown around his hat. when the flowers start to die and lose their color, he will become sad and ask you to make another one for him to replace it.

zoro was confused as to what exactly you wanted him to do with it until you motioned for him to put it on his head. it's uhhh...definitely not for him. but you're like a sister to him so if you flash puppy eyes, he'll wear it

sanji finds the crown you made for him adorable. he finds you even more charming for going out of your way to make it for him. he doesn't deserve such gifts from you but he is happy to wear them to make you happy. he preserves them so he can hold onto them forever.

robin definitely helps you make the flower crowns with all those extra pairs of hands that she has. like sanji, robin preserves the flower crowns that you give her. she will take a piece of them and put them in resin to make homemade jewelry from.

jinbei is your favorite to make flower crowns for. with all of his long beautiful hair, you are constantly putting big, colorful flowers in his hair because he sits there and just lets you do it. sometimes he'll even put flowers in your hair. flower pals !!

brook, like jinbei, enjoys it when you put flower crowns and stick flowers in his hair over cups of tea.

usopp pretends that he doesn't want one, but he secretly does. so after he politely declines and you (pretend to) take his word for it and walk away, he's so sad. pls no, give it to him !!

chopper loves making flower crowns with you. he could make them all day. he loves wearing several of them on his antlers, so he can spin, turn, and dance and they flow in the wind.

nami loves extravagant flower crowns. the bigger and more colorful, the better. she will throw little hints that she really wants one made of sunflowers and roses, such as saying how much she really REALLY wants one, and will sigh out loud when she's in front of the flowers. so when you actually surprise her with one, she's so happy she could squeeze the life out of you. you're her favorite for a reason

franky is so gentle with his flower crown. he's terrified that he may accidentally break or bruise the flowers that you worked so hard to put together. he will pull out the tiny yellow hand to put it on or take it off. he is going to make this thing last !!

Zoro: Grayscale - He saw colours as a child, Kuina was his (platonic) soulmate, but she died. He doesn't remember what colour moss is but he keeps correcting people that insult him to That Insult because he's not a grass head, he's a moss head.

Nami: Grayscale - avoids touching people because she doesn't want or think she deserves a soulmate

Usopp: Colours - Luffy touched him before he joined the crew

A/N: (cringe title? perhaps…) I'm not really into kpop so I hope I used the term “bias” correctly lol :) also I haven't really edited this super closely yet, so if there are grammar mistakes I'm sorry about that!!!! pls enjoy, ty to the anon who requested!

The last thing you expected to see upon entering the bar for a midday pick me up, or the last people you expected to meet rather, were the Strawhat Pirates. Yet there they were, in all their glory: from the boyish captain to the grandiose cyborg, the latest addition to their crew. Still in a state of disbelief, your eyes scan the bar trying to get a headcount on every one of them.

And low and behold- almost the entire crew is somewhere within the dimly lit bar. Luffy, Usopp, and Chopper are gathered around an old arcade machine. Zoro and Nami are at the bar, and Sanji and Franky are eating at one of the few regular tables. It's kind of strange to see them all in such a normal setting, acting like normal people instead of, well, The Strawhat Pirates. “What are they doing here, of all places?” You wonder. The only one you don’t spot is one Nico Robin, with her gorgeous black hair and blue eyes. Perhaps she’s watching their ship; you’d heard that was common for pirates, to leave someone to watch the ship since being attacked was always a possibility.

However, your curiosity is overridden by the pure excitement in your veins. To say you're a fan of the Strawhat Pirates would be an understatement- you had followed their story closely through the World News ever since the events of Alabasta. You thought they were just what the world needed: people who fought for such righteous ideals as freedom and happiness and peace. Still, Robin is your favorite, so it is just the slightest bit disappointing that she isn’t among the others. If she was, you’d surely approach her and strike up a conversation, even compliment her on something. Her intelligence, her power, her beauty…

“Hi there.” A calm voice greets you to your left.

You turn your cheek and blink in astonishment when you find Nico Robin in the bar stool next to yours.

“Oh- hi!”

“You’ve been watching my friends. Why is that?”

“I- I’m so sorry, I didn’t think anyone would notice, um… I just, well, I’ve heard all about you guys from the World News, and, gosh this is embarasing, I just think you’re a really cool crew!”

Robin tilts her head and leans her head on her hand. You can’t decide if she’s suspicious or -, so you continue rambling. “I don’t mean you any harm, really I… I have your wanted poster on my wall!”

At this shocking and unintentional reveal, Robin quirks a brow and her lips twitch up in the subtlest of smiles. “Is that so?” She laughs politely behind her hand. “I didn’t know I had a fan!”

“Well, y-yeah, I guess you do!” You laugh along, albeit more awkwardly.

Robin hums contemplatively. “So, are you on a crew yourself? Or a marine division perhaps?“

You shake your head rapidly. “No, no I… I couldn’t live that kind of life. I’m not as strong as you guys…”

“That’s too bad,” she smiles softly, “I’d love to get to know you better.”

“Really?” You didn’t mean to sound like such a fan, but you couldn’t help it. It was Nico Robin, for fuck’s sake; she was practically your pirate bias!

“Mhm. What’s your name?”

You smile back and shake her hand. Her grip isn’t espescialy firm, but it is stable. “Y/n, it’s very nice to meet you.”

“Nico Robin,” she nods and extends her hand- the one she isn’t resting her chin on- toward you in greeting, “but I suppose you already knew that.”

You can barely contain the way your smile breaks out into a grin. “Yeah, I did.”

“So, I expect you want an autograph then?”

Your mouth gapes- is she serious? Not that you’d turn down an autograph from the Nico Robin, but… isn’t that kind of a weird thing to ask for? Especially when all you want is just to talk to her, and get to know her better, too.

“I’m kidding.” She laughs again, but it’s more unrestrained this time around. Then she looks around the bar at her crew mates, and back at you. “Come on, y/n. Let me introduce you to the others.”

Happy Halloween/X-mas!

I got a Halloween prompt in for my Secret Santa so I jumped at the chance <3 I hope they like it [they don't have a tumblr but posting it here also @op-secret-santa

Sabo and Ace throw an awesome Halloween party for the people they care the most about. PLATONIC Word Count: 965

“Think this is the year we tell Luffy he’s getting way too old for Trick or Treating?” Ace asked as he climbed up on the chair, hands full of fake cobwebs and a roll of sticky tape, the intention of sticking the webs across the ceiling of their apartment.

“I mean, he seems happy enough to keep going and he’s not dragged us out in a minute so, I don’t think it’ll be the end of the world if he puts on a cape and goes screaming through the streets for candy, right? Keeps him out of trouble and eating everything we put out for the party.” Sabo replied and picked up the scattered magazines from the table.

“I guess your right,”

Ace shrugged his shoulders as he focused on his task, pulling the tape taut and using his teeth to cut it, a wad of cobwebs in the other hand, sticking it across the ceiling. Sabo watched for a moment making sure his brother didn’t fall off the chair, again.

“How many people are we expecting this year?” Sabo asked as he retrieved his phone from his pocket, looking at all the notifications, seeing messages from those he’d invited to their yearly Halloween party.

“Oh shit, now your asking.” He sighed and finished sticking the last string of white nylon covered in tiny fake black spiders in place. “Marco, Thatch, Izou… Kiku… Yam’s… I think all of Luffy’s friends are coming over when he finishes up…” Ace paused, thinking of the guest invites in his head as Sabo flopped on the couch.

“Koala is my only confirmed guest..” Sabo sighed and tapped his foot on the plush carpet, looking over in time to see Ace almost fall off the chair as he climbed down. “Eh, she’s the only fun one anyway so it doesn’t matter right?” Ace offered with a grin.

“That’s true, the rest are busy working, and no one seems as into Halloween as me.”

“Man, no one is as into Halloween as me you, and Luffy though, most people are normal about it.” Ace grinned, his freckled cheeks rounding as he could tell he was making his brother’s mood change, the frown melting away into a matching grin.

“Yeah, that’s a good point.”

Ace and Sabo spent the rest f the afternoon rushing around, decorating, and carving pumpkins to set around the apartment. It was a lot of effort and work but was something they both loved, it helped them feel closer as brothers, something they could always agree on.

Sabo was in the kitchen looking at how many beers they’d stuffed in the fridge along the shelves that didn’t have food. People always thought the brothers brought in help when it came to hosting their Halloween parties but no one really knew how put together and handy around the kitchen Ace was.

Both had headed into their respective rooms, rushing to get dressed for the party. Ace wore his cheesy werewolf costume, fake ears, paws, ripped jeans, and his chest on display. Sabo had gone for something fancier, and something that covered more of himself. A grim reaper in a vintage-looking cloak, gloves on his hands, and some dark makeup.

The doorbell rang and alerted them of their first guest, they made bets on who it was as Ace walked down the hall, opened the door, and saw his three best friends standing there. Thatch dressed as a pirate, Marco as a bat, and Izou as the bride of Frankenstein. Ace grinned and stepped back, letting them all in.

Koala didn’t take long to arrive with the other girls, Nami and Robin, Kiku. All dressed in matching outfits, looking beautiful. Ace was about to compliment Kiku when he felt an aura emitting from Izou in the corner and simply welcomed her to his home.

The rest of their guests came in one big group,  Luffy letting himself in with everyone piled behind him. Usopp, Brook, Franky, Sanji, Zoro and Yamato. The party suddenly got very, very loud, and even more life was injected into the get-together.

Everyone dressed up, milling around their apartment, catching up with friends, having drinks, and eating snacks before Ace, Sabo, and Luffy got to them all first. Marco sat with Ace on the sofa as people chatted and swayed to the cheesy music.

“You did great everyone's having a good time,” Marco said sipping his beer and watching Ace stretch out his legs, the beaming look of pride on his face. “Yeah, we didn’t do too bad huh?” Ace sighed, happy as Sabo suggested spooky-themed games to which there was a collective cheer.

The night grew longer as games were played. Sabo was in charge of the first few games before Ace picked himself off the sofa to join in. At some point the music was turned from songs to spooky sound effects, someone had dimmed the lights, and Ace and Sabo had helped usher everyone into a circle around the room.

“Ghost story time!” Thatch proclaimed as Ace got comfy on the floor, Sabo sat next to him cross-legged as Luffy draped himself across his brothers with a loud giggle.

Everyone took it in turns to tell spooky stories, Thatch always the king of them, making everyone (well, not Robin) sit on the edge of their seats, biting their nails and gripping the cushions as he told his.

Ace leaned in, intently listening before Thatch shouted, a jumpscare, he jumped and elbowed Sabo who was laughing at him, Luffy in fits of giggles and was rolled off of their laps until he was in the center of the room. Everyone now laughing at their friend's outburst.

The party was so full of life and joy as friends and found family all enjoyed the night.

i absolutely DO NOT hate anyone for shipping the pairings under the “ships i don’t like” sections, btw. this is all for fun and to get to know me better! i don’t want to hate at all. i just don’t ship them romantically, but i respect anyone else who does

1) my first op ship was zolu, for obvious reasons. i even shipped them before watching the anime

2) this’ll be the biggest shock for everyone: i didn’t “like” saboala until i watched dressrosa for the first time. they’re now my babies who mean the world to me and i love to post about them often <3

Zoro: getting flustered bc of the amount of attention he’s getting(he’s not used to it)

Sanji: absolutely loving the attention, I think he’d be a lil confused on why hes getting so much attention (even from the male gaze) but will still be loving it

Usopp: an absolute flustered mess, he’s still telling his lies but is genuinely confused on why or how hes getting so much attention

Nami: kind of feels weirded out by the attention and why she’s getting it, but quickly starts using it to her advantage

Thoughts on queerplatonic Zoro/Nami?

!!!!!!!!!!! I love them. I think I have said this quite a lot already but the dynamic between Zoro and Nami is so interesting and sweet to me.

Something about Nami being seemingly weak but showing she has been through a lot and being one of the strongest members of the crew and Zoro acknowledging that and admiring her for that but protecting her every time she needs help because he knows what she's capable of. Nami knowing Zoro carries a burden all by himself and trying to help even though he doesn't want her to because that's just how they work.

Their personalties clash a lot but they understand each other so well when needed and share the bond of being the first crew members to join Luffy!!! They act like they can't stand each other but actually they share such a deep bond and love,,,, It's insane. Gay/Lesbian but you never know if it's solidarity or hostility, they're just there supporting each other and sometimes yelling at each other too.

Since I'm a multishipper I love lots of ships within the crew I believe that a lot of them are just in a poly relationship, but Nami and Zoro have always been the ones on each corner of the polycule because I don't consider their dynamic to be romantic at all, but it is deeper than just a simple friendship. So QPR Zonami is more than welcome in my headcanons because they're just that sweet.

By that I mean, Y/n became their crewmate very long time ago (after Zoro joined) and despite do not have any devil fruit abilities - she was kind of pillow of support in the crew. Always kind and understanding towards the crew but sometimes she is really shy with people.

However, one day - the pirate crew approach them and they were one of the crew that Y/n was been before Strawhats. They had not really intentions about Y/n from the start - they wanted to use her trust for their own good but Y/n run away after she find out about it.

I just really interested what they gonna do. But, again if you feel uncomfortable - please ignore this.

(Y/N) never really understood pirates. Sure, she’s been in a ruthless pirate crew before, and in a better one now, but she still can’t understand them. Understand their motive.

Luffy has told her many times that his goal is to find the One Piece. But what is his motive to find it? To look for it?

(Y/N) would never know, and perhaps she doesn’t want to know. She felt comfortable where she is now. Comfortable with the home she has now. With the real friends.

She never thought she’d say that. Real friends. Gosh, she was so overjoyed to say that and hear it out loud, she could throw a party for it.

Of course she’d never do that.

She woke up that morning with a smile. Finding herself smiling all day, matter of fact. Even her crew members got suspicious.

“Are you the real (Y/N)? You’ve never smiled this much.” Sanji cringes at her, a cigarette in hand.

Usopp was too scared to say anything, nodding to agree with Sanji.

“Yeah. It’s kinda scary.” Zoro says.

“Oh, would you guys stop? Is it impossible for me to be happy?” (Y/N) laughs.

They chuckle with her. Robin and Nami walk out onto the deck, their smiles turning into confused ones as they look at their crew mate.

“(Y/N)? Did something happen?” Robin asks, gently patting her shoulder.

Nami looks worried. “Yeah. Did the boys do something to you?”

“Not you guys, too!” (Y/N) groans.

“Uh oh, is someone sick?” Luffy’s voice echoes through the wind. The crew looks up at the head of the ship. Their Captain sitting at his usual spot. “Do we need to get Chopper?”

“No! I’m fine!” (Y/N) calls over to her captain. The crew laughs together.

The day went smoothly. Everyone was enjoying themselves, floating along the ocean like no care in the world. At the moment, they didn’t have a set place to go.

But soon the sky turned dark as gray clouds set above, covering the sun. The crew looked around, expecting a storm to come through. But nothing was coming. It was a calm, dark day.

While trying to figure it out, (Y/N) sees something from afar. Something way too familiar.

A dark ship was heading straight for them. She could see the familiar Captain standing at the tip of his ship.

(Y/N) froze. She knew exactly who that was, and never would she see them again.

She joined the Strawhats just after Zoro did. But a while before that, she was in another pirate crew. She thought it was a kind, gently crew. A crew that took her in, and were even friendly with her. But as time passed, she didn’t realize the lies they’ve been telling her. All they wanted was her trust for their advantage. So she ran away, and never looked back.

Then Luffy found her, distressed and alone. She couldn’t trust him at first, but she noticed his kindness. Is this what true kindness is? Was her first thought of seeing her Captain.

But as she stood there, frozen to the ground, Luffy and Zoro knew exactly what was going on. They quickly stood in front of their friend, protecting her from anything to come their way.

“You’re alright, (Y/N).” Zoro says to comfort her.

“Remember, we are your friends!” Luffy announces with a smile.

The other hop up with the two. “We don’t know what’s going on, but we’re right with yah!” Nami claims.

“Yeah! We’ll protect you!” Usopp says.

“I may be small, but I can still protect you!” Chopper stands in front of (Y/N)’s feet.

The others then agreed, saying their own words as well. (Y/N) had tears rolling down her cheeks.

So this is what real friends are like.

She steps forward, between Luffy and Zoro, a confident look in her eyes.

Zoro and Luffy look at her in shock, questioning her actions.

“We’re friends, aren’t we? Friends never leave each other behind.”

I took a break from my event to create this extremely self-indulgent and rushed headcanons since I finally got my braces off! I have a very strong dislike for my retainer now but it will grow on me :’) Anyway this is comfort for me since my mouth is in pain lol.

One Piece Characters Reacting to Reader getting braces vs. getting them off!

One Piece Characters x Reader (Gender-Neutral/Nonbinary)

*I just did the Straw Hats, Law, Marco, Ace, and Thatch for this! (I did not add Jinbei as a straw hat since I am still not all the way caught up)

Warnings: This is long, Fluff- The characters reacting can be considered platonic/romantic- I will have any romantic (kissing) headcanons in bold. Except Chopper. He is strictly platonic because he is baby.

This is their normal One Piece world since I was a bit curious how they would react since I imagine that if there are dentists/orthodontists in their world it would be rare or only in like huge cities like Water 7.

This is weird for him since your teeth seem to be trying to look straight?

As for when you get them off- He is in awe that the braces did their job! And now you get to wear this weird plastic thing in your mouth

How the heck did you even get it in there?

He has no clue what a dentist/orthodontist is so he will just call them mouth doctor and think Chopper is the one helping you lol

Kissing with them on is also a weird experience for him! (I really hate to say it but he will love if you do not clean them very well. It makes him surprised but happy if he tastes food on them alfdjaslkf I HATE THIS lol)

Anyway, he sees the metal and he is confused but once you explain it, he really does not care anymore

If you are partners though- He will be intrigued how kissing you would be. He takes the chance and decides it is an experience for sure tasting the metal in your mouth. (May remind of blood so he pretty cool with it alfdjalk)

Speaking of blood- If something ends up poking him or cutting him... He will enjoy it to the max tbh however if it is you that is hurt he will cease all kissing and only go for pecks until later

When you get them off I think he would miss tasting the metal

Then it hits him!

Nami is huge on hygiene so I think she would love to know more about dental hygiene and the concept of braces

She is understanding with your diet restrictions and will scold anyone who gives you weird looks or tries to get you to eat something you should not

She is your go-to for this since she also wants to see the end result as perfect

She is tad worried in the kissing department- Not wanting to mess your braces up since she knows how much effort goes into them but she also worried about her safety and if a wire or lose bracket will poke her or worse you. So she sticks to gentle kisses until they are off

She actually goes with you to your orthodontist to see how they take them off and to be there for you

She is happy with and for you upon seeing the end result!

Usopp:

As a tinkerer he will notice and also be intrigued. He has never seen braces (like Luffy and Zoro) and has never heard of them

He asks so many questions

Luffy, Zoro, and him are the ones who forget your diet restrictions which causes much irritation on your side. You will constantly glare at them for offering foods or drinks you can’t have

Usopp will eventually start remembering and be considerate on your behalf

When he kisses you he is soft and gentle- Not wanting to hurt you or himself. If he tastes blood he will pass out in fear just because he will blame himself and think he hurt you. He is too sweet :’)

As soon as your braces are off he will ask SO MANY QUESTIONS about the retainer like how was it made and such? Does it feel weird?

He is just so intrigued by it and of course- It makes you smile even more.

Sanji:

Tbh I feel like he would have had them as a kid or wanted them if his dad cared enough aldfjakl

Also notices them immediately

He will actually cater to your diet needs/restrictions because he knows how much they mean to you if you are going through such a time consuming thing to get your teeth fixed

Besides that he is just a friend you can go to if you are in mouth pain- He will make something soft for you every time you go for an adjustment or tea to help sooth your mouth

If you are kissing on the other hand- If homeboy does not pass out first he will be so gentle. He is terrified of hurting you or making you uncomfortable with your braces on (and lowkey is the same way even if you get them off- You will have to be the one to make the first move)

When you get them off- It is a food celebration! Whatever you missed eating or that you could not eat he will make it all for you!

He does notice if you are smile more and if you are more confident with your new smile! : )

Tony Tony Chopper:

HE IS YOUR BEST FRIEND DURING YOUR BRACES TIME.

He will constantly worry about any mouth pains and since he is a doctor is intrigued how someone labeled as a doctor for teeth does their jobs

He will asks questions constantly and write about your journey with this

Make sure he is stocked on simple pain meds for you

She notices them but does not say anything or ask questions unless you want to talk about

She is sweet and looks out for you

He knows what braces are and is not that interested in the work only because he prefers his medicinal studies that are more morbid than the mouth

However, he is very observational still and notes how you care for them and what your diet is

He had to finish this and go back to his goal of becoming the worlds greatest swordsman for him and his friend. For her.

Zoro sighed and closed his eyes, things felt easier when he was asleep and he could hear his voice again. That soft laugh, it brought a smile to his face. But wait. He wasn’t asleep. His eyes shot open when he saw a shorter male with black hair and a straw hat smiling up at him.

“Join my crew!” And with that, Zoro’s life had changed. When he slept next, he was on the ship with his captain, Luffy. This time, he didn’t see his light friend, instead he saw his captain smiling at him and going with him on the adventures just like the light being did. Zoro didn’t understand what that meant, but he also didn’t think that much into it. These dreams went on for weeks, and then it was months and before he knew it, he was on the Thousand Sunny exercising with Robin in the room and talking to her about his dreams.

“Have you ever had the dreams with a person of light in it?” Robin asked as she flipped a page in her book. Zoro grunted and thrusted his arms down with the absurdly large weight on it.

“The light dreams? I did for a long time, but that light person isn’t there anymore,” Zoro explained as he continued with his set. When he noticed how silent Robin was, he paused his exercise and looked over at her curiously. “Why?”

“Has that light been replaced by someone else?” She asked as she looked at the swordsman with a soft but excited smile on her face.

“I think? I’m not sure. I don’t remember when the light started to go away,” Zoro admitted as he went back to his set, he still didn’t understand why Robin was asking him all these questions. “What about you? Do you have a light person in your dreams too?” Zoro asked her. Robin smiled and shook her head.

“Not anymore, mine went away rather recently,” Robin shared as she glanced back at her book. That was where their conversation ended but this was when Zoro began to think about some things. He didn’t understand why Robin asked him that, was this normal? That was when he decided he needed answers. When he was about to ask the woman about this, Robin stood up and softly smiled at Zoro. “You wouldn’t believe me if I told you,” She said as she walked away. What did that even mean? Zoro put down his weight and frowned, he didn’t understand what she was going on about anymore. Zoro decided it would be easier to just ignore it and go about his workout.

When he went to bed that night, he couldn’t seem to fall asleep in the boys cabin. He laid awake, staring up at the ceiling before he glanced over at his captain who was curled into his blanket and softly snoring. Zoro looked at him for a small moment before he took in his features. His black hair falling over his face, the small scar on his cheek and the way Luffy’s lips were parted as he breathed in the cool night air. Zoro rubbed his face after a second and went back to staring at the ceiling, that would be easier to explain than staring at his captain. He didn’t dream that night, or the night after that, or the one after that. In fact, this continued for weeks and confused him even more. During this time, Zoro found himself having more restless nights where he would watch over Luffy or go walking around the ship to make sure everyone else was safe.

During the day, he would work out and fall asleep in the crow’s nest, but no dreams would come. Just the fact that he wasn’t having dreams wasn’t the only thing bothering him. The other thing that frustrated him was how soft he was becoming towards his captain, one of his closest friends. Were his eyelashes always that long? Was his skin always that smooth? Zoro felt his mind beginning to swim the more he thought about it. And the more he stared at his captain, the less innocent his thoughts became. When Sanji passed by him with a tray of drinks, Zoro grabbed one off the tray and poured the sticky drink over his face to snap himself out of it.

“OI! Asshole! That was for Nami and Robin!” Sanji began to scold, but his words fell on deaf ears. No matter what Zoro tried, his mind couldn’t get off his captain. When he trained, the music in his ears was Luffy’s laugh. During dinner, he didn’t feel like he could drink alcohol since he was drinking in Luffy’s smile. God, when did he become like this? Was he always like this? The swordsman looked frustrated with himself the longer this went on.

He needed help.

There was only one person he knew he could ask about this.

“Robin, please. What does the light in my dreams mean? And why am I not getting dreams anymore?” Zoro asked with his tail between his legs. His pride faltered, his emotions were beginning to get the better of him and he needed the help of Robin before he lost his mind. Robin looked over at him and chuckled. She knew he needed help, but she didn’t expect him to stake her out in the ship’s library for it.

“You’re not getting dreams anymore?” Robin asked as she put her book down and rested her hand on the bookcase. She brushed her long black hair away from her tanned skin and sighed. “That happens, don’t worry. You’re close to realizing it, there’s one more step until you can see your dream person again,” Robin explained, and to her surprise, Zoro was listening to her with intent. He pursed his lips together and nodded, he needed to know what to do to get his mind back to normal again. He wanted things to go back to the way they were, but he supposed it was maybe too late by this point. “You need to kiss the person who used to show up in your dreams,” Robin grinned. Zoro’s face bloomed red at that and he took a couple of steps back in shock.

“Kiss? I have to kiss Luffy?” Zoro blurted out before he covered his mouth with his hand and stared down at his feet. Robin’s laughter filled the room and it made the swordsman that much more embarrassed.

“So that’s why you’ve been staring at him, I knew it, I was just teasing about kissing him, don’t worry,” Robin smiled, Zoro looked over at the woman and rose a brow, silently asking her to elaborate what she meant. “The only way you can get him back in your dreams is if you’re honest with yourself and him,” she said, “Remember how I said if I told you back then that you wouldn’t believe me? Well, I feel like now you may believe me. Maybe,” she said as she picked up her book again and began to leave the library with Zoro trailing after her. “He’s your soulmate,” she casually said before leaving the room. Zoro was left standing in the room, stunned and confused. It felt as if he was hit by a cannon ball. Not only was Luffy potentially his soulmate, he had to kiss him. Maybe. Right? Just thinking about doing that to his captain felt wrong to him, after all, how on earth could someone like Luffy reciprocate the feelings that Zoro was experiencing?

But before he could even think about kissing his captain again, Sabody happened. Then instead of it being days, it was weeks. And months. And then years. Zoro believed that time would fix his affliction, it would make him not be so distracted over his captain but he was proven wrong. The longer he was away from his captain, the more intense his feelings became. He distracted himself with his training, and before he knew it, two years passed and he was physically a lot stronger and mentally too in all things except one. Him. Zoro was ten days early to their meeting spot. Every day was filled with dread, anxiousness and excitement as he waited for his friends and captain. When the day finally came that he saw Luffy again, he didn’t even have time to take him in because of the fight that occurred on the island. But when they were all on the ship again, Zoro watched as everyone had a proper reunion. He said his greetings to his friends, but ge actively avoided Luffy until he was forced to confront him in the night.

“Oi, Zoro,” Luffy said up to the swordsman. Luffy had his arm’s crossed over his chest and stared up at Zoro and looked him over. Zoro had a scar over his eye and seemed to be sporting some new clothes. Nice. “I missed you,” Luffy said before he hugged onto the swordsman and laughed. Zoro gasped and felt his entire face turn red when he felt his captain’s cheek against his rapidly beating heart.

“I missed you too,” Zoro managed to say before he cautiously hugged Luffy back. And when his hands met the small of his captain’s back, his entire body flooded with warmth and his pulse steadied until it felt like his and Luffy’s hearts were in sync. “So much…” Zoro said as he tightened the hug. He felt like they were the only people in the world. He didn’t mind having to wait longer for Luffy if he had to, he would wait his whole life for him.

That night when Zoro slept, he found himself looking into a colorful ocean, and being on a bright ship. On the bow of the ship sat his captain with hands stretching out towards the swordsman. Zoro took his hands and moved to be sitting next to him as the dream Luffy babbled about nothing and everything. Even if Luffy didn’t feel the same about him now, or ever, Zoro was alright with that. At least he would always have his dreams.

Question, which ship do you personally find the most cannon, ZoLu, ZoSan or ZoLaw? To expand on the question which ship for you has the most potential to possibly become cannon, I personally love all the ships, but I was wondering your thoughts on it? Short Answer:

Zoro x Luffy is obviously the ship that makes the most sense and has the most examples you can point to in the canon while saying, "see that, that is love."

Long Answer No One Cares About:

This question awoke something dark inside of me, and I apologize for the overly long answer.

So, here's the thing: I don't really like 99% of "crack" ships which I would personally define as characters who have never met, whose personalities clash with one another's, and who share no common traits or grounds on which they might potentially relate to one another. Pretty much, if you have to invent a secret, noncanon background that totally changes a character's personality so that they can hook up with another character, I'm probably not going to ship it. Though, hey, if that's your thing you fly that flag high and proud. Shippers should support other shippers, regardless of cargo.

Buuuut.... At the same time, I also do not give a fuck about my ships being canon. Not only because, hey, it's my imagination and I'll do what I want with it, thank you very much, but also being a canon ship doesn't mean shit. Just because a creator decided two characters should hook up doesn't mean that it's logical or sound or feasible or healthy or somehow more "correct" than other pairings. In fact, what it usually means is that one character is a man, the other is a woman, and they are both attractive. Which, you know, is a pretty bullshit reason to start a relationship. If you've ever gone out with someone solely because they're attractive and the opposite gender of yourself than either:

Congratulations on what I hope was some truly amazing sex

So sorry about that awkward sexual encounter

You likely have first hand experience on how unstable and unsustainable such relationships can be.

So being a canon ship does not necessarily give you a pass in my books. For starters, most of my ship's be gay as fuck, and as someone who grow up without a lot of gay representation in media, I have learned not to expect anything despite how OBVIOUSLY DEEPLY CONNECTED characters might be.

[Side Note: And, yes, it's mostly male characters, because throughout the history of entertainment culture the vast majority was created by people men who had total faith in their ability to write realistic female characters despite all evidence pointing to the fact that they never once talked to an actual real life woman. I mean, how hard could it be? All women have basically the same personalty traits (boobs) and everyone knows female are monolithic group whose sole purpose in life is finding the most protagonistic male out there and immediately become his love interest. Which is why I just don't even bother with folks who look down on fans of slash/yaoi/gay ass ships because in a frankly sad amount of media, these pairings often make more practical sense as well as being more appealing to those of us who want romantic relationships based on personality, shared interests, or just between two well developed characters rather than one fully realized character and one cardboard cut out of Generic Attractive Female Person.]

When female characters are written as stereotypes whose defining characteristics is "she's a girl!" then of course the male characters with fully realized personalities and complex characterization will appeal to most people, including those of us who prefers their romantic pairings to have an actual foundation outside of "penis + vagina = love" it makes sense to ship the male characters who we get to see build a relationship, share common interests/traits/goals, and just generally ) So I have accepted that canon couples often mean nothing, because when it comes to romance so many creators are stuck in some heteronormative mindset where they totally forget all the work they've done building the character and defining their personality and sticking them with the first person they meet that has tits.

Basically, I am an English major whose end game is to be a college professor. And I am all about Death Of The Author, but also Show Me Your Workings. I don't need a relationship to be canon, what I need is for there to be a reason behind it. Preferably one that is deeper than "Tarzan love Jane because man loves woman" or "but they're both so pretty!!!!"

Taking all that into account, Zoro and Luffy were my first ship for a reason. There are so many little moments between the two you can point at as proof of their devotion and love (romantic or platonic, however you prefer to see it) for one another. I don't just mean the way Zoro took all Luffy's pain. I'm talking about how Luffy will always say things like, "I hope Zoro and the others are okay" or "When we get there I want to have huge feast with Zoro and the others". How often do you designate one of your friends over all the rest, naming them apart from the group? Personally, I either name everyone or no one, the exception being if one of them is someone I'm dating and therefore actually in a separate category from my other friends.

It's the way Zoro has all this nonverbal dialogue with Luffy which allows him to implicitly trust in whatever mad scheme Luffy has cooked up. When more rational people (Nami and Usopp) object out if, you know, sanity, Zoro can always tell when Luffy's plans are just silly gun, when he's throwing out his first thought just to say something, and when he's statement is made with full, unyielding conviction. And Zoro believes in Luffy enough that, when his captain has that level of assuredness, Zoro has no reason to doubt in him. Zoro is a man of actions - while oaths and promises are important, they only meant anything if you always follow through with actions. Luffy never fails to turn his promises into deeds, and so in a way they speak the same language. They understand one another on a deeper level.

And again, it's small things. The way Luffy can get even post-time skip Zoro to smile, or how Luffy will offer to share his lunch with Zoro, the way at the coliseum in Dressrosa, Zoro gets upset about Luffy not informing him there was a fight and Luffy actually apologizing. They have all these little moments to show how deeply connected they are, how much they understand one another, and more importantly how much faith they have in one another so even when one of them might not fully understand the other's reasoning, they never fail to support one another or know the other will pull through.

In my opinion, that is the bases of a strong relationship. That support and understanding; the sense that even if one of them may fail (and almost get chopped in half as a result) or fuck up (see Luffy. Just... Luffy) that it doesn't lessen the other one's believe in them. If anything, they know these set backs mean the other will fight twice as hard to come back even stronger.

I could literally list a thousand moments when they have each other's backs, when the whole crew doubts one of the except for the other, when they offer support even if it's unpopular or seems crazy. And yet they still have little fights, they aren't "made for one another" the way shallow love interests often are, but when it comes to the important moments they trust one another implicitly and show unwavering acceptance without the other having to validate or explain their reasoning. Luffy trusts Zoro with the crew's life, the most important thing in Luffy's world, and Zoro... Well in many ways Luffy has become the most important thing in his world. You see it the moment Zoro kowtows in front of Mihawk - the man Zoro has sworn to defeat and who is at the center of Zoro's life goal - all because Luffy needs him to be stronger; for the crew, to achieve Luffy's dream.

Mihawk even thinks to himaelf, who is the man you are willing to set aside your pride for, because he knows men like Zoro and the only reason they would ask such a favour from a rival is out of loyalty to someone.

So, yeah, not that it matters, but I'm terms of canon, Mihawk basically says, "this kid is in love, only someone in love would be so willing to set aside their dreams and goals for those of someone else."
