you know me i don't like to think too much about the guys but i think it's kind of nice how in lost the seemingly nice guys will at one point do something very horrible and all the seemingly horrible guys will at one point become pretty decent guys

sending this as an anon bc im mega shy but..... I think there are pretty solid grounds for the jb marriage to stand on!

I know the idea of marriage between them can sound a little bit tired, but IMO it's a marriage that simply by existing can be nothing but subversive. Firstly, it would be a union for love between nobles. That never hapens. Maybe they fall for each other later, but choosing to marry for love is already a subversive idea for Westeros. There are also subvertive political elements to it: There is a future power imbalance that Jaime and Brienne will experience. By deserting the Kingsguard Jaime becomes a traitor to the crown and so would extremely likely be ineligible to be the heir to Casterly. This makes him as good as a fugitive hedge knight. If we assume Brienne's father has fallen in battle, or died in some other way, that makes it so that the title of Evenstar is already Brienne's, making it so that the man in the match is the one to marry into higher power and not the other way around. There's also the fact that even if he *could* claim the Rock, it would be a pointless alliance given the distance between their territories. There are no good politics aplicable to it, save for it maybe being a good way to protect Jaime in the future (?), but overall it would give them absolutely no "benefits" to marry each other. So like, even at a base level it would probably be the weirdest marriage ever.

and a bit less seriously: Brienne publicly and officially bagging the Hottest Man In the Continent (tm) is a very fun idea to me lol

oh no i agree i think there's definitely some subversive elements to a jb marriage and im not opposed to it happening. like i said i think it could be a great opportunity for grrm to present a vision of marriage that is not patriarchal or controlling, but given that he's a hippy and that he and his second wife were together for decades before they ever got married i'm not sure he'd feel it's necessary to do? and he's not religious either so he certainly doesn't believe in pursuing it as a sacrament. then again he is a self professed romantic and yes having a marriage that can be solely for love in a society where it is largely used to cement political alliances, put women under the dominion of their husbands for the purposes of continuing bloodlines, securing wealth, etc, can be subversive. jb would certainly be an oddity in that regard. any love match succeeding in this series would be actually.

and it is true that if jaime is to survive to the end his status will likely be very diminished, therefore flipping the typical marital power imbalance on it's head. i just personally don't like to hedge my bets on jaime surviving since there is so much foreshadowing in regards to his death and the themes of legacy, redemption, how we're remembered after we die etc and brienne is the perfect person to carry that torch for jaime after he's gone. george loves his tragedy and bittersweet endings and i don't think jaime and brienne are an exception, whether their relationship culminates in a marriage or not. i'm not at all opposed to them surviving the series and being together, i just don't think it's likely.

Anyway this probably sounds kinda dumb .... but what if simon is gonna become ice prince ? When he reaches a certain point in his character arc and stuff ?

Also what if the ice prince isnt somekind of alternative version of the ice king but something else entirely ? For starters the ice prince in fionna dreams doesnt wear a crown at all only the gems that power it . Plus the ice prince does not have the pointy long nose that is associated with evergreen and he wears glasses which is a simon thing plus instead of being called " ice king " he is named " ice prince "

Sure both are royalty terms but a king and a prince can be quite different

Maybe its a compromise of sorts ? At the start we see simon struggling in ooo with the fact that he is normal/mundane but everything else isnt so he feels like he doesnt fit in the fantastical magical land of ooo its why he starts wanting to have the crown back and stuff

Then he goes universe hoping and seeing the other ice kings and crowns and sees that having the crown and being " ice king " isnt it all what its cracked up to be

So maybe a comprise could work ? Funny enough that also fits within fionna character arc !! At first she hates all the mundane stuff and craves for adventure .... then she has adventures but realizes it isnt all fun & games either so maybe both of them reach a balance bewtween both things ?

Who knows !! I'm just spitballing but it would be cool plus that has some cool aplications when it comes to the fionna and cake universe changing as well

hi! i'm sorry if this is a bit random but i wanted to know if the process of college aplications is hard in the US ?? in my coutry we only do one big exam and the higher the grade the more courses and universities you can pick from ( like, for medicine you need 900 on this test but for music you only need 400)

oh GOD okay you're gonna set me on a bit of a rant bc i have so much to say about college apps here,,,, it's so horrible 😭😭 (nothing against your ask lmao, i'm down to talk abt how much us college apps suck ANY TIME)

so im just gonna split this up into types of college, expectations of colleges, and what we actually have to do to apply:

so there's a bunch of different types of colleges with varying levels of prestige, which is what's really important here. to get into community college, you just need to graduate college and send in an application! but the problem here is that a lot of people look down on that option, and especially with parents, there's a lot of pressure to get into a "good" (high-ranking) college. there are people who will do literally anything to get into an ivy league. but that's neither here nor there, the point is: when you're trying to get into college in the us, the process can actually be very easy, but most people (including myself) choose to make it harder for themselves. partly bc of better opportunities, internships, extracurriculars that are offered in higher-ranked colleges, partly because of the "college experience", or partly just because their parents/friends/counselors/media (have you ever heard of a not uc or ivy league talked about in tv shows??? very little at least, and if you have, it was probably a college that was ALSO super prestigious with a 3% acceptance rate) pressured them into it and make them think that they'll never make it in life if they choose community college.

now onto expectations - again, this depends on the type of college that you're trying to get into. but for the purpose of this entire thing, i'm gonna be talking about how hard the college app process is when you're trying to get into like a high-ranked college with a small acceptance rate. so many colleges these days are down to like 5% acceptance rates, and that's ridiculous. but anyway, they accept you based on a weird combination of gpa, extracurriculars, essays, SAT score (optional in some colleges), recommendation letters, and intensity of your workload.

that means you don't just need to get good grades in high school, and you don't just need to do important things outside of hs. it's not a make or break thing to just have like one b or something, but *so* many people applying to these prestigious colleges have all a's, run five clubs, do three sports, and take all ap/honors classes (aka really hard college-level classes).

OKAY NOW ONTO THE ACTUAL COLLEGE APP PROCESS LMAO:

so the main thing we use is what's called the "common app" and essentially you submit your application, and then you pay fees and choose which colleges you want to apply to. problem is, not all colleges are part of this common app, some colleges want supplemental essays, and every college you apply to has a ridiculous fee.

so first you have to choose the colleges you want to apply to (usually a range of like 5-15), and divide them into 'safeties', 'targets', and 'reaches'. safeties are the ones you can definitely get into, targets are ones where you match most other applicants who got in, and reaches are like. all the ivy leagues and other top-ranked colleges. this whole process in the first place is a ridiculously long college because there are over 1k colleges in the common app, and even more outside of the common app. for example, all uc's (universities of california) have their own separate application form. a bunch of other colleges also decide they want to be special and have their own application.

once you do that, you need to write an essay for the common app. and another few supplemental essays for colleges who wanna give you a harder time. and different essays for uc's if youre applying there (sorry, being from california, i just know a bit more abt uc's, idk if it's different on the east coast or anywhere else). then you create a list of every single extracurricular you did in your hs years and choose which ones are most important, show leadership, passion, and interest in your chosen major. it's basically a resume of ur hs career. you need to get a letter of rec from two of your teachers and your counselor, and you will most likely also take the SAT or ACT (two standardized tests. lots of schools have it optional now, but it's still a big deal in some colleges - often, though, you'll even take that test several times to get a good score).

and then repeat that for any colleges not part of the common app that you want to apply to

and THEN. youre done with your college application! except youre also spending that entire time working on essays/applications for scholarships and filling out a FASFA form (financial aid) because colleges are EXPENSIVE AS HELL. like, just from a california standpoint, the cheapest UC tuition is ucla, with a tuition of $15k for in-state students and $45k for out of state, not including your living situation (and trust when housing will never be cheap in la).

so, yeah. that's the general gist of it all. i probably skimmed over some things and forgot some, but!! im in hell and college apps are the literal worst here😭

It's really not that hard to do. Songs are very often important/special/meaningfull to people for other reasons than the lyrics being a fit. The sound of a song is what catches me personally most times, there are songs that mean the world to me, without them being aplicable to my person at all. Song can be special becuase they remind you of a certain time; a song you hear at a holiday often, or a song from a funeral or a wedding for instance. Or the song can change meaning for you, like Little Mix's Secret Love song... is it about a queer relationship that has to be hidden, or is it about having an affair? Songs about love, can often also be applied to friendships. Sometimes having a best friend feels almost as intense as having a relationship... just without the physical stuff.

Troye Sivan himself (!) dedicated this song to his fans. Making it very clear that it is not a reach at all. What it looks like to me is that the song does hold meaning to Jk, because they probably listened to it while in Tokyo, since the song was still big then, having been released only months prior. Sivan describes the song as "an anthem for accountable friendship and love". He does dedicate it to the lgbtq community, but as support.. not as a dedication of romantic love. "When your tears fall down your pillow like a river, I'll be there for you." "When you're screaming, but they only hear you wisper, I'll be loud for you, but you gotta be there for me too." Those are words of friendship, of support and wanting to be supported in return. Both Jk and Jimin would know that feeling and connect to it. Jk dedicates things to army ALL THE TIME. BTS were going through the toughest time in their career. This is for army. It is him telling army he's there for them, asking army to be there for him too.

I think it very possible Jimin is queer as well. Which would make the message more pointed indeed. Asking army to be supportive of them being queer in general. But the way they described the trip, the way it has been used for promo heavily, the footage of the trip, it's all not indicative of it being a romantic trip at all. And if you think a South Korean company would allow their artists to put out a footage that points at their actual queer relationship... you are the one being tonedeaf to the situation.

(liane's fighting style is more on the defence i think? her animations probably are more her trying to incompacitate someone and not kill them. that also works into her special talent as a support; [name in progress]. that works for her to not be able to land finnishing blows on enimies but gives a 15% elemental mastery and attack buff for everyone else wile shes in your party. snd her main stat is actually elemental mastery! thats what her attack scales off of at least. so shes very good for more reaction based builds[like her with the others fiwbcjebdj] plus shes designed as a support)

Mary: Rise with me!!

(secondly, mary is the dps of the group. her animations also work with her mostly going for the kill? but also trying to control the combustion of flame near her because the strength of it is hard for her to control properly. and her scaling for both attack and healing is with her hp. dont have any special talents with her yet but i hope her general workings are interesting enough for playing on their own)

(lucien is also a designed support- cause heck it supports great love my supports best. his fighting style is more, how do i explain this, just trying to attack? i think thats best way to put it. yeah his animations are mostly him trying to attack and aim fast enough wile doing it properly. like after last attack if you leave it off at that he'll do a checking prostetics animation. then his special talent ive figured out so far is [name to be found] where when you tap the elemental mastery button it shows the world from his point of view. so like, cant see details of things but can see their elemental signature and general structure even through walls. it also turns the elemental mastery button into a switch to change this view on and off. plus can still use it like that when on another character so can be fun for pictures hehehe. and he scales off of elemental mastery? havent figured that out for him fully yet but yee. also he holds his bow upside down sometimes cause, yeah)

Arata: Call to jury!

(and then lastly arata! he is sub dps, and i also think his fighting style is sorta defencive but more show-y? like, have you seen fencing? thats sorta what going for for his style of fighting. mixed mabey with a bit of more slashing but mostly he poke poke. also also ignore him using the wrong dom hand here- ill figure out more how the lore in a bit ehe. right yes his talent feature is called [still havent named these], where any elemental reaction that is caused by him wont be taking out or removing others reactions. like, if you have a frozen comp but also have him, you can do superconduct or electrocharged wile keeping that freeze on the enimie. he isnt best electro aplicator but this makes him more interesting and makes him fit to more hypothetical comps. and his scaling is also off of elemental mastery)

A Stalwart Gem: The Movie. I’m tired of getting all the lil community theatre actors in my noggin together to act out the story. I, just once, wanna sit back all lazy-like, and watch it happen on the big screen.

But like…do you have any HCs or Drabble about the scene/a scene where Leto tells Jessica about his feelings for Gem?? Bc that’s one scene I think should be in the film and I’m drafting Stalwart Gem fanfic in my noggin and pls help.

I just think it’d be such an interesting scene because I wonder if they’ve discussed something like this before or if this is the first time, and it’s not like Leto can HIDE anything from her bc of his lil micro expressions of, probably; love and concern and horny, are all over his face. But was it dramatic? Was there an argument? Or was it sweet and understanding? I need to know pls- for the movie I’m about to produce.

Also congratulations on your thesis and good luck on applying for jobs. I don’t know how tf you find time to do all these things and still make us yearn and weep, but you’re amazing.

It starts as a sneaking suspicion.

Leto can be subtle at the best of times; his looks and actions can, at times, misdirect. They must, if he is to lead Caladan without showing all of the cards that he keeps so close to his vest. 

But with her—with this new-old-arrival, this bright ‘gem’, as he’s called her—there’s something different. His looks linger on her when they’re in conversation; his eye unwittingly seeks her out when she’s nearby, but just out of sight; his lips twitch with a smile at the sound of her voice, the mention of her name.

It’s odd to Jessica—to be on the outside, and not the object of his attention. It’s foreign, and it’s uncomfortable. Jessica feels the pricking of jealousy beneath her fingertips, the lurch of her stomach when he smiles at the girl. But she knows that there’s something there that must set her off, something good. As Thufir Hawat has always told her, it's easier to be terrified by an enemy you admire. 

There is something in this Gem that Leto must admire, and it must be beyond her beauty. Jessica has heard whispers from the ladies maids—whispers of nightly walks, and the possession of a kindjal and a sharp tongue. Leto and Jessica came together as a matter of necessity. Jessica doesn’t know if Leto has ever come together with anyone in a blatant matter of desire. It's new for him, something that he ought to have liberty to explore.

But the jealousy prickles, still. 

When he returns one night from a walk, hair and coat dampened, a nick in his neck, she can’t help bubbling of questions—but she shuts them tightly behind her lips, watching him change and drop his wet clothes onto the hamper. 

“...Where did you go?” She asks, as lightly as she can.

“Just to the river orchards.” 

“Mm…” She nods, taking in his pruned skin, his naked form before she adds, “How was she?” 

Leto hesitates for a moment before he tugs on a pair of loose pants, tying the chords.

“Shaken. Upset.” 

It’s the confirmation she needs—it churns her stomach.

“Is it lasting, you think?” Jessica asks.

“What, specifically?” 

“Your fascination.” 

Leto turns to face her, eyes sweeping her face, her body, before he asks, “Are you worried?”

“Have I anything to be worried about?” 

Leto lowers his head, and she can practically see the wheels turning and ruffling his dark, damp curls.

“Whatever the answer is,” Jessica adds, “Know that it changes nothing for me.”

“I do not believe that,” Leto asserts, meeting her eye again. Jessica purses her lips, considering her next words wisely. 

“... You are the father of our son, you know that I care and want only the best for you. This may cause a shift, perhaps, but not a rift.” 

Leto takes slow, careful steps toward the bed, lowering himself down to sit in front of Jessica. When he takes hold of her hand, it steadies and excites her as much as it did when they first met. Jessica closes both hands around his, giving it a gentle squeeze. 

“I do not know if it is…Lasting,” Leto admits softly, eyes flitting to her face. It’s odd to see Leto nervous. She doesn’t rush to fill the silence, and instead gives him the moment or two to gather himself before he goes on:

“What I feel, it is…Different. Different from what I feel for you. You know that you will always have my devotion, my affection—”

“Yes—”

“You gave me our son, you have given me your time, your care…Your love.”

Leto’s eyes hold Jessica’s, but there’s a skittishness there.

“What I feel for her…I cannot describe it in a way that—”

“You will not upset me—”

“I can’t chance that. I won’t.” 

Jessica turns her head from him, her jaw working tightly. She hears Leto sigh, sees him bow his head out of the corner of her eye. 

“Do you trust me?” Jessica asks after a moment of tense quiet.

“You know I do—”

“Then trust me with this. For the sake of our partnership, trust me with this.”

She doesn’t push into his silence now, either. She knows Leto—knows that he’ll snap if she does, knows that he’ll settle if she doesn’t. This flurry of emotion is new for both of them, but they know one another.

“...I don’t know how much time that I have with her,” Leto finally says, “In the way that I know I have time with you. Until then, I…” 

“You want to explore.” 

“I do.” It’s said firmly, with his eyes set heavily on her. Jessica gives a slow nod, lowering her eyes to the bedspread and giving Leto’s hand a squeeze.

“Then that is what I want you to do.” She tips her head up and reaches out, thumbing the nick on his neck. “So long as she doesn’t take your head off.” 

Leto hisses softly, glancing at the pinprick of blood on her forefinger as she draws her hand away.

“She was upset with you?”

“No…No, with herself. But she’s been in the center of a storm for years now. It seems easier to turn her anger outward...She will learn.” 

Jessica hums thoughtfully, looking at the smudge of red on her finger. 

“...Would you be terribly upset if I didn’t befriend her?” She asked lightly.

“Of course not,” Leto soothed, rubbing his hand over her thigh. 

“I won’t make an enemy, mind, but—”

“I will not begrudge you distance,” Leto fills in. Jessica nods a little, lowering her gaze to her lap. Leto ducks his head, resting his forehead against hers and giving her other hand a squeeze.

“You will always have me. You must know that.” 

Jessica can’t help her small smile, and she tips her head, nudging her nose against his. “I do.”

The next time she passes her—his gem—she finds herself slowing and holding her gaze. She sweeps her eyes along the woman’s form, meets her eyes again, and gives her a small nod.

“Come, Paul,” Jessica murmurs, carefully steering her son down the hallway. 

This gem may hold Leto’s fascination for some time, but Jessica has his son, his devotion—and he will always come back to that, and to them. Let him hold this interest, this gem, for as long as it lasts.

Hi, I've seen that you criticize the concept of Innangard/Utangard and other Heathenry related things. I was wondering what are your opinions on frith, oaths, and kinship? I read an essay/article on Scribd called The Problems of Heathenry: The Differences between Pagan and Modern Society this is partly why I'm asking because I'm looking for more information/criticism on these concepts and why they aren't historical or are historical but not necessarily aplicable to today's society and living.

For full transparency. i am a, albeit infrequent, Loki worshiper. These concepts are used by nokeans to justify treating Loki worshipers like dirt. I wrote a post calling out a group on FB for this. They call Loki an oath/frith breaker and a kinslayer. I'm not sure on either of these because I'm not really sure on what counted as kinslaying in Norse society. Also, I'm not sure if Odin killing Ymir is a kinslaying because according to them it's not, and I can't find anything talking about it.

Peace, oaths, and kinship are all fine. I'm skeptical of heathens' culture of oath-swearing these days, but there's potential there for something useful. But I don't really see what they have to do with anything here.

It's certainly true that people in old times did not approve of people killing their own family members, though contrary to popular belief they weren't really big fans of people killing others who they aren't related to either, except in certain circumstances, which is also true today.

These folks sound so intolerably boring that I honestly don't get the appeal of wanting to coexist with them anyway. Sure, they are entitled to their careless, boring re-slotting of mythic components into the moral categories provided to them by basic western moral dualism inherited from Christianity, but I don't know what anyone gains from it. If heathenry is just another cosmic game of picking the right side, I want out.

Don't get me wrong, that's an easy way to read the myth, probably the easiest way. It just takes a little lack of critical inquiry into the sources for Norse mythology and a straightforward, surface-level reading of the myth to say that Loki is the "bad guy" in it and Baldr is the "good guy." It's just as easy to get around that by deferring to Saxo, who doesn't implicate Loki in the death of Baldr at all, or to modern scholars like Anatoly Liberman who have made arguments that Loki's implication in the myth was a later innovation in a much older myth. Personally, I think that's cheating -- we can hold all these ideas at the same time, including the myth as Snorri (a guy who, I'll remind you, did literally go to war with his own family) tells it to us. After all, we get bits of it in Vǫluspá as well, and I'm not prepared to throw out Vǫluspá as an important text.

But I don't trust anyone who reads the myth of the death of Baldr and says "the meaning of this story is that the gods reacted correctly and rationally and this is a model for how we should conduct our affairs."

Now I don't really have time for a deep exegesis of the myth of Baldr's death and ragnarök but let's let it suffice to say for now that if these people are being a bunch of assholes then there's no amount of interpretation of myth that can make you go "oh no wait actually they weren't assholes after all." They could even be correct and it doesn't matter. That happens a lot with heathens. I'd rather blót with people I disagree with but like than people who are correct but are unkind blowhards.

By the way, whether or not Óðinn has familial obligations to Ýmir is probably to be considered ambiguous. In a culture like medieval Iceland's, people had extensive knowledge of their family trees and often knew exactly how they were related to the people on the other side of a battle. Where exactly the boundaries of different obligations fell was not only often ambiguous but actually could be a driver of conflict itself, if one person acts according to what they consider their obligation to be but someone else feels betrayed by them.

Another thing about these conflicts -- they usually start small. Someone who lives in a feuding society would probably see things like, just to take a completely random example, imprisoning someone's son because of something they might do in the future, as a potential first step in an incrementally-escalating series of acts of aggression that will only end after enough people are dead that it's impossible to continue. Personally, that sounds worse than giving up a discursive moral high ground, but that's just me.

Riddle- ....Halloween?

Riddle-  In my hometown, it seems to be standard for children to gather in the plaza and “have fun together”.

Jamil- It seems like .... you are talking  as if it is someone else’s problem.

Riddle- I only participated once. So I’m not familiar with it....

Riddle- What impressed me is that we all did “Apple Bobbing”

Floyd- Goldfish, apple bobbing.....what is it? It’s has an interesting name.

Riddle- You fill a large tub with water and apples, and you have to grab the apples with you mouth. Of course , you can’t use your hands.

Jade- That is ....a game unique to land.

Azul- Yes, as soon as you take your hand off the apples under the sea, they’d rise to the surface immediately.

Jade- If it were a game to chase the suddenly rising apple, it could be done even under the sea.(I’m pretty sure he said this to tease Azul)

Floyd- That might be unexpectedly interesting.

Silver- However, an apple....can you really get it with just your mouth?

Riddle- It is usually done with small apples....but its still difficult. (say that to the tweels and their sharp ass teeth)

Jade- Its a game in which  well-build children have the advantage to grab the apple.

Riddle- Yeah. Not only the size of the mouth but also jaw strenght is required.

Ruggie- If we did it in this school wouldn’t Jade and floyd be super advantageous at this game then?

Ruggie- Their body is big. And the teeth are sharp.

Jade- (*angelic smile*) Kufufufu What about it? Opening my mouth wide in front of everyone would be embarassing...

Jade- I may not the able to take the apple because I hesitaded to catch it. ( yes yes, i’ll try to belive you)

Floyd- How do you decide who wins or loses this game?

Riddle- I think the rule was that the person who gets the apple in the shortest amount of time would win.

Riddle- It seems that even in Wonderland this game is played in some areas. ( i didn’t understand what he said, he said” Kiseki no kuni” wich translates to Land of Miracles\wonders, so I assumed he was talking about wonderland)

Riddle- Cater once challanged me on  “How many can we get”.

Riddle- I couldn’t get the hang of it ,so my face and clothes got soaked in water....

Riddle- When I think about it now, the result isn’t that important.

Riddle- We laugh and make noises as we try to get the apples. I think that is the main purpose.

Jade- Certainly. It is very interesting the sight of Riddle desperately opening his mouth and chasing apples...

Jade- No, It seems to be worth watching.

Kalim- Its a bit different from my kingdom, but the Halloween in the Land of Hot Sands is really fun!

Kalim- No, the halloween in the land of hot sands its a “treat banquet”! 

Kalim- It’s bacause in my country, talking arround the banquet is the most enjoyable thing.

Kalim- So when it’s halloween time, we prepare as many dishes as you can put on the table.

Jamil- So that the ghosts who have returned, can eat as much as they want.... together.

Jamil-  We prepare a large range of sweets, salty foods, spicy foods....from light foods to large dishes.

Jamil- When Halloween is near, the kitchen is always at full capacity,starting with the preparation of the ingredients.

Jade- Someday I would like to see susch magnificent banquet. Do you have any traditional dishes?

Kalim- Speaking of haloween treats....I like that

Kalim- It’s a dish that has baked vegetables and sauce on top of each other.

Jamil- so? go on? ( His expression is 5* XD, he be like”I’m not payed enough for this...., but then again,I’m not paid”)

Kalim- Oh,That face is definitely pinpoiting, you see, the ingredients are potatoes, eggplants and tomatoes!

Jade- ..........So it’s like lasagna, but it replaces the pasta with vegetables?

Kalim- Oh, that’s close. When it’s freshly baked its really delicious.

Azul- So that’s it. It seems to be preferred by healthy-minded owners.

Jade-Jamil, can you tell me the name of the dish?

Jamil- Its....Moussaka, it’s a local dish. (It really exits, I looked it up)

Kalim- Oh yeah. That’s it!

Kalim- When I was a kid, and I really wanted to eat it even though it wasn’t banquet day, I’d ask Jamil to make it.

Jamil- It was terrible at that time. My parents and other servants scolded me....“Don’t use fire when you are alone!”

Kalim- Eh!? Is that so !?

Jamil- I was still in elementary school.

Jamil- I didn’t cook as much as I do now...It would have been bad if I had started a fire.

Jamil- Now I can understand, why my parents and the other servants were angry with me.

Jamil- Moussaka is a time-consuming dish that requires 2 kinds of sauces because it requires many ingridients.

Jade- The ovens at Mostro lounge aren’t that big....is it really so hard to produce it in big quantities?

Azul- Isn’t there any way to increase the production quantity by making them all together on a big oven?

Jade- I don’t have the habit of wearing clothes on a daily basis.

Jade- It’s fun to dress in various ways on land because I’m not familiar with it.

Silver- In fact, disguises are not a fun memory. Even as I recall now, it’s horrifying.

Floyd- Eh, wasen’t Mandako-chan (Lilia) smaller than now when it happened?

Silver- Oh, he looked the same as now....

Silver- But the only time I saw such terrifying appearence of Lilia was on that halloween.

Jade- That’s interesting. He is a very cute person, as he is pround of.

Silver- The frighteningness of Lilia disguised is scary... 

Silver- I would tremble with Sebek as I was watching with him

Silver- That night was so frightening that the two of us promised that we would definitely stay up until morning.

Jade- If I get this scared, I’m sure I’ll cry out lound.

Floyd- Well, now I want to see. I have been with you since we were born , but I have never seen that.

Ruggie- So, why did you and Sebek pray in tears for the morning to come?

Silver- Oh no....I fell asleep middle way without noticing.

Riddle- After everything.....

Silver- Sebek couldn’t dare going to the bathroom all night, in the next morning he was angry with me and  I was called “Traitor!”

Ruggie- Hey, seems like Sebek also has a cute side.

Jamil- So, how was halloween where you lived?

Ruggie- Me? The story of Halloween in the slums isn’t very interesting.

this song feels like acceptance to me, and i think it’s important to put on this list because imagine you’re born and you know there’s something different about you, and then when you’re like 8 years old someone’s like oh by the way. you’re the human representation of the country we’re currently living in, or smth like that. i would cry. i think it’d take a while to accept, and that a lot of them don’t really like themselves, but this just feels hopeful and ok and i think its very good.

my lotr brainrot is showing again lmao. this is half bc of elves also being semi immortal beings who live for thousands of years in tolkein’s work, and also because the nature of the song is that we’re saying goodbye to all these characters and especially goodbye to frodo and bilbo. i think that goodbyes are something that’s sort of central to life as an immortal, at least in a place where immortals are rare.

it’s always been my interpretation of this song that vienna was supposed to represent heaven and a peaceful death. a piece of nation lore that i like is that they can be killed, but they’ll come back as long as there’s a nation still existing, and that a lot of them might want to die but they can’t, and are therefore dreaming of a ‘vienna’ of their own.

this song fits into the theme of death again, cause the message is that you never really lose anyone as long as they’re still with you emotionally. i like that vibe and i think it fits again with being an immortal in a world of humans.

i think the idea of life being a marathon is especially aplicable to the nations, bc they have no idea when their marathon is going to end. at least you and i know we’re going to die someday, and some of the probable causes. the being glad to run at is also a bit strengthening to me because yeah life is such a wonderful thing, even if you’re cursed with so much of it. finally, the line about love giving you meaning, rather than a trophy, is something that’s just so. good line. but it also has another layer of meaning where the nations are concerned, because love for the nation literally gives them existence (imo) so. yeah. and then trying to enjoy it, because that’s all you really can do. idk its powerful to me

Couples firsts

Sorry, girl. Lila asked us to go to the movies with her because it’s national ditch day in Italy. Had to respect her heritage.

Marinette sighed and walked into the building, all alone except for Ms. Bustier. The most prestigious school in France offered to give their class a tour and they all skipped it to go to the movies? Stupid.

They stood in the main hall, until a pale, blond boy in a grey suit walked up to them.

“Hello, my name is Felix Culpa. As the class representative, I will be showing you around Aster Academy... excuse me, but where are your other students?”

Marinette saw Ms. Bustier shoot her a look and internally groaned. “I am Marinette Dupain-Cheng, also class representative. The rest of my class is... otherwise occupied. I will be the only one joining you today.” Good, that sounded professional and well put together.

“Very well,” he looked at Ms. Bustier, “since this is a small class, feel free to have some coffee in the teachers lounge and relax.”

Ms. Bustier gave him a grateful smile and walked off.

“So, I imagine you’ve heard of our school before, is there anything you would like to see first?”

“Yeah, what about the designing wing?”

“Yes, the design wing is rather extensive, right this way.”

Marinette glanced up and down the street, completely lost.

Are you sure these directions were right?

Her phone buzzed almost immediately.

Duh, Lila gave them to me you probably just got lost

Marinette growled and pounded at her head with her fists. Normally, she wouldn’t allow himself to express her emotions in such a way, what with akumas and all, but when it came to the pure and utter detest she had for Lila Rossi, she was willing to make an exception.

“And then, she said she could arrange a meeting between the two of them! The man has been dead for over a decade!”

“Hmm.” Felix stared blankly at a novel he had started, but lost interest in.

“Of course, they believed her! And they decided that I was the one wrong for pointing out that he is deseased!”

“Unfortunate.” He turned a page.

“I just… ugh!! I hate her.”

“I could help with that.”

“…”

“She sounds like a horrible individual. Do you want her gone? Because I can arrange that.”

“You mean…mur-“

“Let us not say the ‘m’ word, i don’t want anything being traced back here.” He gave her a warning glance.

Marinette thought about Felix’s proposal for a moment, before jumping at him, pushing his back against the office chair and kissing him until she had to pull back.

“Sorry,” she breathed, “well, not really, but sorry if I made you uncomfortable.”

He smirked. “All this because I offered to get rid of her?”

“Yep.” She pecked his lips. “So you better deliver.”

She was weeping, hiding her face in her arms. It was too much today, too much of Lila’s attitude and Alya never batting so much as an eye at her.

Marinette had heard her parents murmuring to each other, so she was expecting a cheery attempt to make her feel better any minute.

What she was not expecting was Felix barreling into her room, arms full of sweets, blankets, stuffed animals and a laptop.

He unceremoniously dumped them all onto the ground without a word.

He then pulled her to him and began to wrap her in blanket after blanket.

“Life is objectively awful.” He explained. “So I plan on keeping you warm and feeding you food while watching all of your favorite movies until you feel better or the apocalypse, whichever comes first.”

She stared at him for a moment, and nodded. This is what I need, she realized, a break with my perfect boyfriend.

They had just finished watching their third movie, when Felix spoke.

“I have aplications for you to transfer to Aster, if it’s ever too much for you. I know your classmates’ treatment of you can be… less than ideal.”

“Not yet,” she whispered, “but thanks, Felix. I love you.”

She felt him stiffen beside her. “I… love you too.”

“I know.”

Marinette walked into her apartment to see Lila tied to a chair. Felix was standing behind her.

“Hello, dear, how was your day at work?”

“Uh, it was good. I was able to approve a bunch of great designs.”

“That’s lovely.”

She sighed. “Well, if you’re not going to say it, I will. Why is she in my apartment?”

“Well, all of the important moments of our relationship happened because of her; us meeting, our first kiss, the first time we said ‘I love you’, so I decided she should be a part in this event as well.”

He walked around the struggling brunette and knelt in front of Marinette.

“Marinette Dupain-Cheng, would you do me the great honor of becoming Marinette Dupain-Cheng-Culpa?”

She fell to her knees in front of him. “Yes.” She whispered. “Yes, oh, Felix!” She wrapped her arms around him and kissed him deeply.

When they parted he slipped the violet ring onto her finger. “Thank you.”

“No, you beautiful boy, thank you. This is so sweet. But, if you bring her to our wedding, I will divorce your sorry butt.”

Hello Myra, I was searching for TAW aplications and found yours, I was totally amazed by your aplication letter and your old and new beautiful art, thank you for inspiring me so much! I wanted to ask you...I've always wanted to study animation, I've grown up with animation and truly love it (especially japanese animation) but do you think it's ok to study animation if what I truly want is to pursue a career more oriented to comics? I hope not to take up much of your time,thank you so much Myra!

As for advice... I’m not sure what “okay” means in this case. There is nothing wrong in studying something you don’t end up working with! Or to study something you arent that passionate about! People do it all the time! Lots of my animation teachers studied things like IT or physics or biology before ending up with a career in animation. I know people who studied animation at TAW, who are now working with making comics.

So, maybe the question is rather, is it SMART or EFFICIENT to study animation when you want to work with comics? And I mean, no? Probably not? Of course it will be easier to start working in comics if you have had the chance to study the craft practice, and maybe get advice from other people with more experience. But the two of them DO have overlaps. You will touch on design and storytelling and acting in both!

I think the point is, you should study something you want to really learn in depth about! And if you are planning to work in a different field later, just know that you will still have to learn about that thing in depth too, but on your own initiative.

first a disclamer I have seen the hole show but never all in one go so if my time line is fucked or I miss a point sorry, secondly I should mention I have never seen kora so keep that in mind.... lets start with Iroh, he is such an important charicter, one cus he’s like one of two mentally stable people on that show, and two because hes hella powerfull, this man taught our king Zuko everything he knows pretty much was the crown prince growing up is actually leavel headed and you know can BREATH FIRE, honestly hes just like the best and like whenever I need some good advise I just try to think of what Iroh would do, like this man didn’t let the fire nation corupt him, like yes he was a very promanet and powerful general, yet we never see him ecxibit the same type of coruption that his brother does also he is the main reason that Zuko is able to see the coruption of the fire nation himself as well as how Zuko is able to see that his place is as the avatars teacher and not as the exiled prince, Iroh is literaly the only man I will ever love hes like the father I never had, not that I have a bad relationship with my dad, its just that Iroh is the man I look up to he is able to do so much for those around him with out sacrificing his charicter or his own morals and I think we can all learn something from Uncle Iroh even if its just to have a nice cup of jasmin tea

next I’ma talk about Ozi I don’t have much to say other than that he is the reason I have trust issues with my country well him and living in the states

Azula honestly I know shes suposed to be a villan but what can I say shes hot also her flirting skills are honestly about as good as mine I also really love that we get to see more than just one out come of having an abusive parent because of her, now I’m not going to diagnose Ozi but if he were to have narssasistic personality dissorder I would not be suprised I mean its supper clear that he uses Zuko as a scapegoat and that Azula is the “golden” child I will say that even though Azula has her issues they are born of her trama I mean she thought her mother didn’t love her the only prase she gets is from Ozi and only if she acts how he wants her to, I think the best example I can think of is when she Mia, Ty lee and Zuko are at the camp fire sharing trama (which like mood) she acts like everyone is just puting on a show to earn sympathy bc she only got love or attention if she put on a show for Ozi if she made sure that she was exactly who he wanted his child to be, you also see this when she is trying to capture Zuko and Iroh she eassaly is able to act like the loving welcoming baby sister Zuko wants she is extreemly skilled at making people see what/who she wants them too, I think its also important to keep in mind when we talk about/think about Azula to remember she was 14, and who knows how young she was when she started being a part of councel meetings, I mean she saw her father burn half her brothers face off at...12? I think

now to touch on Mia, I personaly wish I had a better grasp of her personality bc she is defenatly someone who has a lot to say, I mean that hole “no you miss calculated I love Zuko more that I fear you” like DAMN that was amazing, she is amazing! yet the thing is I really never saw her love for Zuko other than in that one seen like yeah they dated but it was like how kids date in middle school for the title of boyfriend/girlfriend I also feel like she and Zuko only brought the worst out in each other, all I’m saying is that that relationship was bad for her (also I ship her with Ty lee but thats a diffrent convo) all in all I think that she is a very powerfull woman and I think that she sould have gotten more screen time, also as for why I ship her and Ty lee is i mean I couldn’t have been the only one who saw her reaction to Ty lee being with Azula right?

Honestly Ty lee deserved better than she got with her friendship with Azula she was just trying her best to be her own person yet insted she was made to be Azula’s play thing esentally she was since childhood made to follow Azula’s wishes without complaint and when she finally gets herself on a path to happyness Azula comes along and rips that from her, and I jusr want her to be happy like actual real happy

ok an honerable mention before I finish my fire nation post, I will be making a post for every one else as well, that one fire sage who helped Aang he is the real mvp of the fire nation, as well as the poor fire nation teacher who had to teach Aang i have no clue what she is being paid but having to put up with Aang as a student she deserves a rase

and last but definetly not least my favoret, Zuko now I’m not gunna say much on him cus everyone have probably already said it and better than I could, but like his charicter development is some of the best writing ive seen also the fact that we get to see a teen just trying his depressed sleep deprived best is the greatest thing on that show, I just really love that even though his allyances changed his character didn’t he was still just a teen tramatized by war and working towrds peace and prosparety and that is something I can relate to, hes a fuck up but hes doing his damn best

☕️ cloning exinct animals (jurassic park: great idea, y/y/YAY?)

i'm actually going to have to go with no. mainly because we'll fuck it up.

i'm only tempted because then all the detective work and educated speculation of paleontology would be rewarded with "look! this is what they were like! you were so close! or so very, very wrong! but now you know!". and also there's the whole "goddamnit, People of Yore, if you hadn't killed all of them, i might've been able to see a real live individual of this species!" temptation.

but then the cat would be out of the bag and there'd be no catching that cloned de-extincted cat.

because, okay, science would be really interested in this, and it would be really interesting, but we'd still have the ethical responsibility towards the creature we cloned, even if just one individual. if it's something on the order of a fruit fly, there's less hoops, but still hoops, and then if you get into higher order animals, then "should we really have this one individual of this species in a lab to study" becomes a very pressing question.

and the question would be really, really pressing for extinct animals (and hell, plants, let's go there) that could have medicinal aplications. you might be able to get "for the good of humanity" to beat out ethical quandries.

but then either shit gets super well regulated (...which is never Step 1 for new technologies and science we're just barely getting the hang of) or we get pandora's unboxing.

we'd be getting multiple cloned individuals, and then where do we put them? zoos? they don't have the extra money. reserves and parks? do we have the ecostystem them even need? are they going to create a Big-Ass Ecological Mess? are we just gong to keep them in cages and then, what...?

and then of course Capitalism. everyone is going to want a fancy extinct creature. black market everywhere. exotic pet market gone wild because regulations, what regulations?

and of course, what about the actual existing species that are on the verge of extinction? are we going to ignore african elephants because look, shiny mammoths! let's find money and space for mammoths instead! or worse, we'll say, fuck african elephants, we can always bring them back from extinction later. there will be No Consequences. we can fuck up any ecosystem, take up and ruin any land, because, hey, we can Fix It. we have the ctrl+z.

and similarly, the ctrl+z Magical Undo Button for recently extinct animals would be tempting but would not be the answer. take the golden toad. we could bring it back and even put it back, because we know exactly where it lived and it could probably live there again...except unless we ruin that ecosystem. unless we're still doing all the shit that led to the species' (and many others') extinction in the first place. it'd be a really shitty band-aid.

so in conclusion, 1) the animals deserve better than we can give them, 2) we don't deserve shit, 3) we'd fuck it up in so many ways, and 4) science has dealt with lost potential before and we've just got to deal with it.

like, look, i'd love to see a live thylacine as much as the next one, but there is absolutely no way we would not fuck up every single thing about it.

until we've fixed our mistakes, we deserve the consequences.

Entrapdak Human AU II

Entrapta was so excited, so so excited. Nobody ever invited her to anything, definitly not parties. People always said she was weird or awkward, no not awkward. Entrapta Vesselak wasn't shy, not awkward. She was a little blunt. Yes, that's it. She didn't keep much back. Her morbid facination in all things existencial and morally inappropriate. One second the group was talking about someone's birthday, the other, about the eventual heat death of the universe.

That one always killed the mood.

This time they didn't have a choice. The very CEO of the company invited her, just like every other employee. Actually, the invited sounded more like a manditory threat. Everyone was to show up or their job position would be compromised. But Entrapta didn't mind. She was extatic.

Entrapta was new to HordeWorld-Wide. Started two days ago. Entrapta, pleased her aplication was accepted, as was HWW for her participation. The doctor of engineering and biology was quite talk of the town, or rather of the country. She was famious, no thats not it. Infamious. Yes. She was the infamious, contraversial doctor of engineering and biology.

The Makers Guild, in her early career days, threw her out after coming to the conclusion of her experiments being, 'extremely unsound in the ethical departement'. Then she turned to The Price Alliance, she met some nice people there, but they just forgot about her, just left. Let the funding pool for her projects to dry out.

Then, TPA's main competator came to her with an offer, a deal she couldn't refuse. Her own departement, dedicated souly to her findings and projects. No, nos. No ethical or moral guidelines. Free reigon. Entrapta was in heaven. She could do anything, HordeWorld-Wide was the most versitile company in the world. A tree of many branches. From medicine and prostetics to military weaponary.

The world was in Entrapta's palm.

Tonight, she wasn't alone. She was with a friend, Scorpia, who was an intern for HWW for about a year now. She knew everybody and every little nuck and crany of the building. That made her helpful, so Entrapta kept the girl close. Incase she needed some information or a question about the angsty teenager who was incredibly mad at everything ever time she came into her lab. The purple haired woman soon found out that girl was, Catra. Scorpia's girl-friend. Definitely a bad influence, but that was the fun part Entrapta assumed, weither or not Scorpia knew it. The strong girl was drawn to the danger aspect, the bad girl.

It was a formal party, so Entrapta wore a suit, black and white, standard. Scorpia helped her find one and pay for it. Even though En was comfortable and prefered her regular work clothes. Her overalls and sweat shirt, which she always forgets to wash, so many stains on it.

Scorpia wore her stunning black-crimson dress, she said appearently someone allowed her to borrow it. They definitely attracted some eyes, but it almost seemed like they've seen something more abstract today.

Scorpia didn't really payed attention to the crowds, Entrapta was very much the opposite, that was the only reason she came. Analysing and studing people in a social experiment was like watching embryos grow in a petri dish. Truly facinating.

The way people interacted or avoided each other was a journey to observe. People were just like reactants, bumping into each other creating reactions that spread out over the whole equation, producing new changed products. A pattern, a cycle. Observing the pathway and course of life in it's most basic elements was always facinating.

The short woman quickly had her way across the entire hall. Carefully observing even the most minute details. She disturbed quite a few guests, but she never payed attention to criticism of curiousity. She would explode the world if it meant learning something ne-

She pauses. The world slows down. Everything fades away. Entrapta fine focuses on a singular figure amoung the masses. A lonely, luming figure at the buffay. A champagne in hand. Averting eye contact with the outside world. She couldn't make out if the towering peron was a man or a woman, but they were...

Beautiful.

The pigtailed woman quickly dragged Scorpia over to her side, the strong-built girl was surprised at the smaller woman's strength. She never saw Entrapta work out, so it was a shock.

"Who. Is. That?"

Entrapta pointed in the directionbof the mysterious figure. Scorpia could tell she was inthroled. The girl followed the finger and her eyes widened in an alert manner.

"What!? What is it?! The way you looked at them means it's something big. Tell me! Tell me everything!!!"

Entrapta began to shack the taller girl back and forth. Scorpia managed to break out of the hold.

"Okay. Okay. That's Professor Hector Kur. He's like a super big deal. He runs his own departement and branch of the Horde. He's incharge of engineering and biology. His brother owns HWW. He's a real silent type, kinda creepy too. Never talks to anyone, and no one talks to him. Spends all his time in his 'Sanctum'."

"That's so classy. What about that on his arms, sacres. How did he get them?"

The shacking continued as Entrapta got closer to Scorpia's face with a big obsesive smile.

"I don't know. He's a sensitive guy. So you probably shouldn't-"

Scorpia half way through that sentence realised her friend wasn't listening. She couldn't let her get near Professor Kur, he'd eat her alive. She still wan't sure if that was just a humor, the dude was scary. But the big gal knew she couldn't out facinate. So she tried a different tactic. She would distract.

"Yeah, En. Check it out, they got tiny food, your favourite. We should get some. Anything. Anything you want."

Entrapta didn't even look at her friend, the predator in her locked on to the man infront and the scientist in her pulled out an audio recorder from her suit pocket.

"I want that."

She said as she strolled forward with confidence and purpose. Scorpia saluted her friend goodbye, for she was about to lose her job.
