Nearly four years ago, long before you could find them just about anywhere, I found a post praising the plague doctor Squishmallow, jokingly calling it 'bingus'. Jokingly— and as a byproduct of being in my plague doctor phase at the time— I quipped that if I ever wound up finding one, I would name it Dr. B. Ingus.

Fast forward to 2024, and not only does the real Dr. B. Ingus now reside on my bed, I've also finally concocted an original design for the brilliant plague doctor turned plushie, largely in part of being invited to a plague doctor community on tumblr! 💜🖤💜

Dr. Brenius Hildegard Ingus, better known as 'Doctor B. Ingus' or even simply 'Dr. B.' was once a standard plague doctor... for lack of a better term. Ever since his youth, he knew he wished to pursue a career in tending to patients, and he would make good on this dream once our nation found itself plagued with a contagion most potent... the Everdark Plague.

Brenius spent every waking moment of his corporeal life formulating a cure, though as the years went on, he feared that old age would put an end to his research, effectively doing away with everything he had done to rid of the Everdark Plague. However, Brenius— ever steadfast— made a vow that not even death could stop his heroic efforts.

Somehow, a deal is made, and Brenius' soul is set free from his mortal vessel, allowing him all the time in the world to continue his studies... at the hefty cost of immortality. Ever selfless, he hires a local toy maker to create a new vessel to store his restless soul in; a charming plush toy designed in his likeness. While it takes a while to get used to his new form, Brenius resumes his studies in secrecy as though nothing out of the ordinary had happened, now vowing to only speak to plague doctors he trusts with his studies.

Personality-wise, Dr. Brenius is a very well-spoken, considerable and sophisticated man in spite of his now-smaller stature. In his past life, he was quite the fashion aficionado, and collected headgear of all kinds to top off his outfit, his current hat he immortalized himself with being his favorite.

Chapter 4: Enchanted

Summary:

Quinn is loving it at CHB, but how long will the good times last? Warning: This had to be written in the present tense (sort of) for the sake of the chapter, a similar warning may appear in later chapters (6 months have passed, Cresent and Quinn are friends, and this is mostly just a filler before we get to the angst)

Notes:

I just got free time to write this, and then writer's block hits. I know what I want, but I need to switch these 2 because I need it won't make progress otherwise. WHY ME, UNIVERSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Songs are Enchanted and Style

Living at CHB is amazing, there is so much to do and hanging out with Cresent is amazing. She’s so cool and pretty, and creative and I could just go on for hours but we have plans, so I should get on with this.

I got her a really cool gift for her birthday in a few weeks, it’s a dagger that can grow into a sword if she every needs one. It had a black leather handle with purple stars a painted myself. I also got her a matching purple seethe with darker crescent moons on it. I hope she likes it, because I now owe cabin 9 a lot of candy and wins at capture-the-flag, worth it though.

There something else I’m planning on telling her on her birthday, but I’m not sure how she will react. It’s so hard for me to keep this a secret from her, but I was still getting over the fact for myself, and what it could mean for our relationship. Will she look at me differently, maybe. But she’s my best friend and my crush, so I have to tell her at some point, might as well make it a good day.

We have archery together now, so I better go before she scares the heck out of me with her shadow travel, then asks me for a Kit Kat, cause she always craves them afterwards.

“Ready for training” She was holding a CHB-made bow

“Ready for me to beat you” She always beat me, but that’s only cause I let her.

Chapter 5: 100 Bad Days (Cresent's POV)

Summary:

Cresent is not Ok, and it may have caused her to make a few bad decisions.

Notes:

I hope this chapter causes as much pain as I felt when I wrote this. It was so hard and PAINFUL, I still recommend it though. This chapter is based on the songs Not OK and 100 Bad Days

This week has been, AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If one more person, especially an Aphrodite kid, asks me for a jewel in arts and crafts. I’m sending this camp to Asphodel and the Aphrodite cabin to the field of punishment.

I don’t mean to be rude and I love the attention, believe me, but I have been so busy lately, with everyone asking for something to do with my powers. Summer is so hard, there are new campers and the ones that went to school came to be safe. It’s so crowded and loud, and Quinn is getting all this new attention from the other campers.

We haven’t hung out in weeks cause he’s always with cabin 9 and we’ve wasted so much time that we could have used to hang out. I usually have archery with him, so we just meet up there or I go and get him from his cabin. I try to act like it doesn’t I’m not bothered that we don’t hang out, but it’s tearing me apart.

Ok, this is officially the worst week possible in the history of worst weeks possible, and it’s all because of Quinn. I would like, no love to say it was something completely different, like a bunch of the younger kids wanted me to perform a shadow puppet show, and I just couldn’t say no. Or something in that category, but of course the fates hate me.

I was walking to the dining pavilion all by myself, as usual, I sat at my table and waited for Quinn to arrive. We didn’t sit together but our tables were close, so we could still talk. Quinn came and sat in his usual spot, but there was a tiny problem. He looked very nervous, which is typical for him, but it wasn’t his “surrounded by people and I’m not comfortable” look. It was one I had never seen before, and I didn’t like it.

“Hello, campers. Hope you all had a great day, of bashing heads and doing whatever other things so children do” Mr. D said, The Ares cabin, whoops, knowing full well what was coming next. “After dinner, we will all get ready for capture the flag, This week’s teams are on the bulletin board outside for those who forgot already. In other news, a new quest has been given to none other than Quinn Victory” “What, you got a QUEST and didn’t bother to tell me” I could have possibly yelled this out loud to the entire pavilion and also got up in a not-so-silent rage. Quinn tried to pull me down, and I decided to give him a chance since he was my friend.

“I was going to tell you once I understood what it was asking for.” “Ya, likely story” “When are u leaving” It seemed like a good question at the time “Tomorrow morning” He sounded nervous, he was right to be nervous. “You mean you were going to go on a quest, most likely without me, then magically message me from whatever state you are in” Was I being unreasonable, not if I just found out that my best friend was going to be on a quest, and I wouldn’t have known until he somehow contacted me from wherever he was. “I mean, iris-messaging is a thing” “Wow, this guy” “You know very well what my point there was” I was NOT ok.

“I’m sure whatever my quest entails, I will be doing it with you.” “I hope so” He gave me a smug look, the audacity “So, I’m part of your quest group?” That also seemed like a good question. “Not exactly, I haven’t made it yet” He mumbled the last part. “What do you mean you haven’t made it yet? You’re going tomorrow!” “Well, I’m supposed to choose after capture the flag” That, made me snap.

“We aren’t even on the same teams for that, we never hang out anymore, and you’re always busy.” “Cres, wait…” I wasn’t waiting anymore. ”I tried to give you space, but I’m getting sick of this, I am NOT getting left behind. You know what, don’t put me on that list of people to go on a quest with. I, no we, need a break. Cause clearly only one of us can bother to tell the other before leaving” I was tired of this week, of camp, and most importantly, I was tired of Quinn.

I didn’t bother to listen to what he said as I left, I wasn’t even hungry anymore. I knew I was probably going to see him at Capture the Flag (which was sadly a must to go to) unless he was going to be scouting people for his stupid quest instead. Of course, his quest was more important than me, and I know that sounds unfair, but I just broke up with my best friend, so don’t start with me. I just wanted to go home, but I probably wasn’t wanted there either because I am always put last on everything. I just wanted to lock myself up in my cabin and cry, but I had to put on a brave face, cause I sensed that something else was about to happen.

I mainly write 3rd person and do tend to write a lot in the replies, this being around 2-5 paragraphs or more, I like to get into detail within replies as it’s most fun for me personally. I would appreciate it if you could match this but it’s okay if not! :) I also would appreciate it if we had at least one reply a day at minimal but I also understand that not everyone is free every day. 

For the genre it will be romance mainly but there will be other genres involved depending on which fandom it is, e.g horror, action, violence ect. I’m also open to AUS. We can also discuss the plot in dms depending on the fandom.

Oooh alright thank you!! I think instead of discussing just one fic this time, I'm gonna give you the director's commentary on roughly how I come up with new OCs, since I think that's kinda cool to think about and compare

Okay so obviously I write a lot of OC x canon, since I really like using OCs to explore the canon characters' personalities and character development over time. Some of what I decide about an OC is at random, or just based on vibes/what I find interesting, but I also try to come up with some solid themes when coming up with the OC and core conflicts of the fic. I mainly use a lot of opposites to accomplish this, since it gives a good amount of both internal and external conflict to work with

Here, have some examples:

Billy (6 Underground) moves fast, and it's canon to the movie that he was betrayed by his ex-girlfriend in the middle of a high-stakes mission. So I give him Quinn: someone who once could move as fast as him, who knew him so well they were practically chained to the hip, but who was affected mentally and physically by the same betrayal. Billy hates luck, but Quinn's injuries make it clear that he was the lucky one for walking out virtually unscathed.

Peter Maximoff is impatient and impulsive, he can't slow down and gets bored easily. So I give him Robin: someone who he loves dearly, but who he couldn't be with unless he changed his habits, learned to slow down, and pushed past his immediate boredom. She's Deaf, which meant him learning ASL and changing some of his habits (like talking with his mouth full or starting a conversation without getting her attention first) in order to communicate effectively with her. Then she gets a TBI on a botched mission, and recovery can't be sped up, so he has to learn how to be patient and steady as she recovers.

Alex Summers is prickly and hostile, and keeps people at a distance. So I give him Madison: who doesn't at first seem like his opposite, since she does the same thing, but it's growth for both of them. She's not comfortable with a fast-paced fling or relationship, so he has to learn to let those walls down and prove she can trust him before pursuing romance. They're definitely a "behind closed doors" couple, though - in public, they tease and poke fun at each other to no end.

While he's caught in the fighting ring, Warren Worthington feels like he has nobody to rely on, and no future to strive towards. So I give him Rae: who would risk her own life to save the people she cares about, who will claw towards her future with everything she has, who's filled with so much fire and vitality that it gives him a reason to keep fighting, who won't back down from a fight even if she's horrendously outmatched.

Even Kyle and Jasper: obviously they get along well from the beginning, and they end up sharing a lot of interests, but visually they're very different people. It's a play on college stereotypes, seeing the straightlaced frat boy with the queer nonconformist punk. Most of the play on opposites here is less with Kyle vs. Jasper and more Pre-Death Kyle vs. Post-Death Kyle (at this point he's basically an OC too lol, the show gave us so little to work with for him). But there's still a lot of roots that I've laid down for that, particularly in how gentle and patient Kyle is in the early parts of the story.

This is true for pretty much all of my OCs, actually - including the ones like Eris and Nikoletta who I haven't fully written about yet. It's not quite "opposites attract" since usually they've still got a lot of similarities to bond over too, but there's almost always some core trait that drives them both to evolve as characters.

Cassian (ACOTAR) + Nesta (ACOTAR): This asshole is finally starting to talk to me again after months of silence, and I screamed when you posted something about modern AU ACOTAR. High fantasy can be a struggle for me sometimes, but they would slay in a modern verse!

Frank Castle (Daredevil) + Harley Quinn (DC): Idk I just really want to throw Harley at one of my gruff guys like Frank or Brock and watch them have to deal with her chaos (but probably come to love her because she's adorable, obviously???).

Daryl Dixon (TWD) / Paul Rovia (TWD) + Ellie (TLOU): I looove crossovers, and mashing up these two zombie apocalypse universes would be so much fun! I could see Jesus as part of the Fireflies initially. Not sure what Daryl would be up to, but I'd love to find out!

Meu restyle da Ariel!

Oi pessoal! Tudo bem? Ando bem mais bonequeira nesses últimos tempos, e inclusive até comprei uma Barbie (quando chegar vou fazer vídeo e fotos irru).

Também fiz um restyle na minha Ariel! Costurei uma blusinha (amei como ficou a miçanga de estrela nela ⭐ ) e a saia, que fiz originalmente pra minha Shadow High Zooey Electra. Gostei bastante desse penteado nela, que me lembra um pouco o da Harley Quinn!

E é claro, o Sollux pra acompanhar a foto! Ele foi meu parceiro nesse restyle inteiro, então uma salva de palmas pra ele: 👏👏👏
