"How can I ensure my safety during this meeting?" Kit asked.

"Do you see any guns pointed at you?" King raised his arms and gestured to the open space.

Kit smirked as she glanced at the man before her. "There are much more creative ways to kill me than a bullet."

He gave a short nod. "And you could be recording this conversation, yet, I've chosen to go through with this meeting. Have a little trust, Kit." A smirk tugged at his lips.

"It's Agent Tane." Kit said as she pulled her visi-screen out of her purse and set it on the table between them. At her command, a hologram came to life above the screen. "This is Planet Whisp'el," she explained as the image of a large green planet twirled between them. "It is located on the outer arms of-"

"I know where Whisp'el is," King said boredly. "What does this have to do with me?"

"The Earthen Space Agency has caught several ships flying to Whisp'el under strange conditions. They didn't appear to be smugglers or criminals, yet, the ships were stolen."

The image on the hologram changed again and five stolen ships appeared between Kit and King. "Do you recognize these?" Kit asked.

"And what if I do?"

"I...won't arrest you or your people for anything as long as you cooperate. Something strange is going on in the universe, and I plan to figure it out."

King gave a wide, white smile. "Good for you. What a miracle it will be for someone to finally save us all," he moked.

"I never said I would save anyone," Kit clarified. "We have been picking up distress calls from Whisp'el...something is happening to the people there, but I don't know what it is."

There's a version of the "don't go grocery shopping while hungry" rule specifically for writers where you should never under any circumstances be allowed to touch your draft within 3 hours of reading a really good story. Because sometimes when you read something great your head goes "fuck this is so much better than my stuff I should make that more like THIS instead!" Look at me. That's the devil talking and you should close the document NOW.

one thing i CANNOT forgive that they took away in the new pjo series is the very small moment when percy and annabeth are squinting trying to read the sign on Aunty Em's Emporium

Percy asking what does it say and annabeth being like "i have no idea" and Grover having to translate to them bc they’re both dyslexic and cant read in red cursive neon english

like is such a small moment but is such a core memory to me
