[Amy Maud Bock] was convicted of impersonating a man and served three years in the New Plymouth men's prison. She always pleaded guilty for every charge. I made a patch out of her guilty signature and I've got it embroidered on a jacket. You name it, I'm guilty. I'm guilty of all of it.

People do not see masculinity as being as fluid and complex and nuanced as femininity and it’s annoying as hell. Because of patriarchy’s stranglehold on masculinity and radfem theory’s stranglehold on queer spaces, people really think with their whole heart that only femininity is subversive or experimental, or frankly, queer, and that masculinity is only a power grab and nothing more. Embarrassing!

The idea of gender in performance was not very well received, and there was no debate around whether it was about gender or sexuality. It was all viewed as illegal anyway, so there was no need to discuss anything.

Sometimes, you might be so fed up as a binary trans person that you might think, "it would be so much easier if I was nonbinary!". Sometimes, you might be so fed up as a nonbinary person that you might think, "it would be so much easier if I were binary!".
It's understandable to think that if you don't know about the experience of other groups of trans people - you might think that some groups of trans people are entirely exempt from certain experiences. However, this isn't the case - even if two groups of trans people typically have different experiences, there are still hardships that they might experience. And to a transphobe? It doesn't matter who you are, it matters that you are. This is why solidarity between all groups of trans people is so important. We survive together.
