my theory on the birth order of the kids of Naruto and why it’s probably not what you think it is:

So something I've thought about a lot recently is the actual birth order of the kids in Naruto.

We don't have years for any of their birthdays, just the actual dates, so a lot of people, naturally, assume that it likely goes January to December in order when it comes to the ages of the kids and that they were all born within the same calendar year. Out of the rookie 9, this would make Shino the oldest and Hinata the youngest, with their birthdays being in January and December, respectively. This would make sense, theoretically, if you don’t really think about it too much. But, after thinking about it, I realized it's actually literally impossible for that to be the case if they all graduated the academy at the age of 12 unless their graduation took place sometime between the 27th of December and the 23rd of January.

But that is not when graduation takes place in most places in real life, and I can’t really see graduation taking place at that time in the Naruto world either. If we were to base this one when graduation takes place in Japan in real life, it would take place in late March. If we go with this timeline and the assumption that all of the rookie 9 were born in the same calendar year then Shino and likely Sakura would be 13 at the time of graduation.

And yet all of them are canonically listed as graduating at the age of 12. While this could always be an oversight and one of those ‘this detail doesn’t really matter’ type situations, I don’t think it is. Because if you do follow the timeline of an actual graduation in Japan and also consider the fact that, in any class in a normal school anywhere in real life, not every kid in the same grade is born within the same calendar year, it’s actually completely possible for them to have all graduated at the age of 12.

Children within the same school year are usually born within a year of one another, but not the calendar year. It’s different everywhere, but the cut off date is usually shortly before a new school year begins in that particular location.

The school year in Japan begins in April, so any children born before April would typically be in the previous year’s class. If school their very first year started in April then Shino and Sakura would have been a grade above the others due to being born before the cut off date of the previous year. Since that is not the case, I have to assume that, instead, they were born shortly before the cut off date for the class they are in.

Sakura’s birthday is March 28th, so it is possible for her to have just turned 12 at the time of graduation, making her the youngest of the rookie 9, not Hinata.

Choji is born in May, so he would be too young to be in the previous class but be among the oldest kids in his class, making him the oldest of the rookie 9, not Shino.

Which would make the age order:

Choji, Kiba, Sasuke, Shikamaru, Ino, Naruto, Hinata, Shino, Sakura.

and not:

Shino, Sakura, Choji, Kiba, Sasuke, Shikamaru, Ino, Naruto, Hinata.

like most people tend to assume.

The only characters out of the rookie 9 who would really be affected by this are Shino and Sakura, but, as someone who consumes a lot of content with Shino, since he’s my favorite, it’s something I have thought about a lot because I see people quite often refer to him being the oldest. While this could still be true if there is actually a case of ‘not putting much thought into it’ taking place here, I see no reason to think it is given this theory which I have had for a long time.

While none of the rest of the rookie 9 are exactly affected by this, several other characters are. Gaara’s birthday is technically first chronologically, being January 19th, several days before Shino’s. This, if we went back to assuming their ages were in order when it came to the calendar year, would make him the oldest out of the kids their age (so, leaving out Team Guy and Kankurou and Temari). This would also set him as being 13 when we meet him, not 12. But he is also specified to be 12. But if he is also born the year after most of the others alongside Shino and Sakura, then he would be 12 when we meet him during the Chunin exams which start on July 1st.

In regards to even more characters who are affected by this, we have Team Guy. They are all supposed to be 13 when we meet them and are all also listed as graduating the academy at the age of 12. Like Sakura, Tenten’s birthday is in March. If we went with the ‘everyone in one class is born in the same calendar year’ theory here, their birth order would be Tenten, Neji, Lee. If this was the case then Tenten would have to be 14 when we meet her, rather than 13. The only way she could be 13 is if she was born in the next year, which would make her younger than Gaara and Shino, which is obviously not the case.

If we went with the timeline that makes sense for them to graduate at 12, it would be Neji, Lee, Tenten. Tenten, like Sakura, would turn 12 shortly before her graduation. Neji would turn 14 during the Chunin exams, but, given his birthday, that would be the case regardless.

I’ve seen people talk about the timeline of Naruto and also come to the conclusion that graduation takes place in March just like in real life Japanese schools, but the majority of them never seem to consider what this means for the characters’ graduation ages. I’ve only seen one person ever have this same theory about the kids’ birth order before, but it was on a Sakura stan twitter account and didn’t seem to get much attention. I doubt this will either, but I needed to make my thoughts on this known. I tend to get obsessed with little details like this especially when it affects my favorite characters, so I just wanted other people to hear this theory.

Trying to get Soshiro to blush is definitely rarer than a blue moon. Trust me, even his own platoon of talented rookies tried catching him off-guard — it's just near impossible!

Keyword: Near impossible. That's where you enter the picture.

As a Platoon Leader, you do your best to be a figure of inspiration to your officers, thus keeping up your facade of a strict mentor; but honestly—you’re not fooling anyone, you're totally a softie! Despite your personal ‘no-distractions-during-work’ policy, obvious signs of your feelings for the Vice Captain naturally slip out occasionally. Still, you refuse to get your relationship in the way of your work.

Behind closed doors lie the reserved intimacy and affection you held for him. He won't ever admit it, but he sometimes pushes himself too hard, hard enough to have scars and calluses all over his hands from his intense training, and you can only imagine how tight and desperate his grip is on his personalized close combat weapon.

He’s always desperate to prove his worth, desperate to keep the only thing that gives meaning to his existence, and you know that your words are not enough to quell the distress behind each swing and slash of his blades.

That's why you do what you know will calm him best—love him just as fierce as he swings those blades of his.

You caught him training again one night, exhaustion evident on his form. The adrenaline coursing through his body has yet to be quenched, and you know you have to do your magic to get him to rest.

“Soshiro. You're here again. One more night of this and you’ll really strain your body.” you softly said, concern evident in your voice.

He stopped midway his slash, breath heaving as he turned to face you. “Can't rest easy when the rookie officers are a whole ‘nother level, dear. If I don't do this, I doubt I’ll be able to get even the slightest hit on No. 9.”

Sighing, you made your way to him. “Put your weapon down for a while, please? Let me at least do something for you.”

Doing as you asked, he kept them somewhere safe and curiously stood in front of you again. He gave you an inquisitive look, patiently waiting for what you're planning to do.

You took his hands and caressed them, slowly feeling the roughness and evidence of all the nights he's spent bruising himself up just to get even stronger. You move his hands so that his palms are facing you, his eyes widening at your next move.

He felt a soft, careful kiss touch each of his palms, followed by a kiss to each of his fingertips.

He thinks his ears are on fire with how hot it's burning.

“W-what are ya doing, dear? I haven't cleaned my hands up!”

You entwined your hands with his before he could even pull them away, thinking that he didn't like what you just did. “I’m sorry, did I make you uncomf— Oh.”

Oh, indeed. The sight that greeted you when you turned your face up to see him is… remarkable. You can't believe the Third Division’s Vice Captain would be blushing over his significant other tenderly kissing his rough, tired hands.

“Ya didn't have to do that… I know you love me plenty! And please stop gripping on my hands harder, ya aren't letting me turn away!”

You snort. “Of course I won't let you. This is a rare sight. Still, I didn't know something like that could get you severely flustered.” you said, a hint of pride in your tone.

“Told ya I haven't cleaned ‘em up. I was holdin’ those nasty blades moments ago.”

“Ah, excuses. Just say you liked the kisses more than you expected. I’ll let you off this one time and say it's just out of exhaustion.” you giggled.

Your expression turned soft and serious again, now hugging him. His arms wrapped around you, a tired sigh coming from him. “You do so much for me, ya know that? I thought I was gonna explode earlier. Don't know what I did to deserve ya.”

“Mhm, ‘Shiro. You have no idea how at a loss I am sometimes to do something for you. I want to shoulder at least a piece of your burden, want you to share your pain with me without worrying about whether I can take it. Because I will, just for you. I’ll hold your hand whatever happens and stand side by side with you. All I ask is that you take care of yourself.”

He let out a soft laugh of relief. “I should be sayin’ these things to you. I hope ya know how amazing you are to me.”

You both pulled away from the hug, him taking a hand of yours in his. “Let's get some rest. Don't wanna worry my princess over here.”

Smiling in content, you nod your head at him. “Thank you, Soshiro.”

EREN JAEGER -

as soon as this man sees you, the love of his life, caught in a wretched titans hands, his fight or flight kicks in. and you know damn well it’s FIGHT. he drops everything at that very moment, no matter to rescue your dumbass.

erens minding his business, doing what he usually does with the levi squad preparing to transform and help at any given moment until he hears a familiar scream. he swiftly turns his head and sees your body trapped in a titans large hands - he immediately drops everything he’s doing with the levi squad and starts to make his way towards you QUICK.

levi and the rest of the squad turn to face eren but quickly realise he’s ran off somewhere, they all start screaming at him telling him to get his ass back over there but he doesn’t even hear them at this rate. he’s blinded by pure rage seeing the situation you’ve gotten yourself into.

he slices the titans nape with a war cry and snatches you out of its hands. he places you down gently and asks how the hell you ended up like that but, before you could answer the levi squad come over and take him away.

before he leaves, his squeezes your hand tightly.

MIKASA ACKERMAN -

this mf rescues you in two seconds FLAT. cmon now, even as a rookie they compared her to 100 soldiers, you’re more than safe in her hands.

she sees you tightly wrapped in a titans grasp, swoops in and rescues you immediately. while taking out several titans on the way, she swiftly takes down the titan and swoops you into her arms before you could land on the ground. as she rushes you back to safety somewhere she lectures you while on the verge of tears.

as she puts you down safely, she looks at you with tears still welling in her eyes. she gives you a stern look and says

“don’t you dare do that again. please.”

ARMIN ARLERT - 

poor baby gets so scared. he just thinks back to when he froze and he thought eren had died because of his cowardly attitude.

he cant do that again. he knows he’s not a coward and it’s time to show himself and you that he’s not. although, he’s not confident to take on a titan by himself so, he comes up with a very quick and witty way to get you out of that titans grasp.

he asks jean to help him with his plan and then get you out of there. thankfully, you held up the titan with your kicking and slicing of its fingers.

jean takes down the titan as armin takes you in his arms. he keeps flying until you’re somewhere safe and secluded, he takes this brief moment to take you into his arms. he takes in your scent as you embrace.

he thinks about how he could’ve lost this. thank god he didn’t.

SASHA BRAUS -

although she may be a bit of a goof, if your life is in danger she’s not messing around. she’s getting you out of that situation, FAST.

her mind is moving as fast as her body (for once).

sasha suddenly noticed that you’re not flying next to her anymore, her concerns grow quicker by the second. when did this happen? how long have you been gone?

she scans the area with pace, asking everyone in sight where you were then, she swung her head and saw a familiar person about to get eaten by a titan. she jumps into action, making her way towards you with speed, avoiding all obstacles that stood between you and her.

she slices the titans nape with ease and brings you back down.

“don’t scare me like that!”

CONNIE SPRINGER -

he gets so scared when he sees you in that situation, it makes him sick to his stomach. but once again, he is not going to mess around when you’re in danger.

although he has this horrid feeling rushing through his body and his head is pulsing from the stress of it all, he’ll come and save you immediately.

connie patrols the area, making sure it’s clear of titans, there he spots an abnormal chasing someone down the streets and it was… you?! it seems you had run out of gas. connie makes his way over the rooftops fast even faster than when keith makes him run laps.

he takes down the abnormal and scoops you back up taking you to the nearest station to refill your gas.

JEAN KIRSTEIN -

never seen that man move faster or kill a titan faster. he’s filled with pure adrenaline, the attack was quick witted and slightly blinded by rage/love. but it all adds up to saving you as quick as he could.

all he sees is you in a titans hands out of all places, the world around him is blurred as he makes his way to you and FAST. he’s slashes the titan nape deep as you catch yourself and carefully lower yourself to the ground to take a breather. he stands over the titan looking down on its lifeless body, he’s so disgusted that it touched you. he quickly makes his way over to you and his face that was filled with rage two seconds ago turned to a face of concern. he places a hand on your back.

“are you okay?! you’re not hurt are you? don’t run off on your own next time.”

REINER BRAUN -

comes after you IMMEDIATELY, his body moves before he can even think straight seeing you like that.. wrapped in a titans dirty fingers. only titan that should be grappling you like that is him🙄.

this man is lucky he’s so good at what he does because the way he was blinded by so much rage, he’d end up like eren in that situation if it wasn’t for his immense skills. though, he quickly realises that he needs to calm down and snap into action to save you, which he does diligently (of course).

he pats you down quickly as he examines you to make sure you’re not hurt and gives you a quick kiss on the forehead. you guys make your way back to the rest of the group with him keeping a verryyy close eye on you.

BERTOLT HOOVER -

this man is so FUCKING terrified, he’s almost on the verges of tears when he sees you like that. he couldn’t think of anything worse to witness.

he speeds off to go rescue you as the tears fall of his face into the strong winds and right behind him is reiner, knowing he’d need someone whether to help him rescue you or just emotional support.

as bertolt comes in and rescues you, reiner is behind him making sure no other titans try to ambush you guys. the process is quick and you’re out of there in no time. he squeezed your hand tightly as you take a slight breather but, you cant stay for long, you had to get back to fighting even more titans.

after it’s all over, he genuinely has an existential crisis about his own identity after this incident…

what if he causes you harm while in titan form? he could never live with himself if he did such a thing. i suppose it’s not something to think about yet.

ANNIE LEONHART -

rescues you in a heartbeat, you barely even realised you nearly got eaten by a titan because it all happened so fast😭.

i swear the same second that titan even TOUCHED you.. you were suddenly in annie’s arms, like what the flip? she takes down the titan swiftly, grabs you and puts you back down on the ground. you stand in shock trying to process what just happened as she looks at you, deadpan.

she sighs “i suppose we have some training to do when we get back.”

LEVI ACKERMAN -

pfft, cmon now. saving you is another day in the life really, isn’t it? this is levi flipping ackerman, humanity’s strongest soldier.

the titan didn’t even have a chance to grab you in the first place. he just sees it going for you before you even notice yourself, he slices it’s nape with precision and catches you and all! he sets you down and quickly scans the area before he grabs you, pulling you into his arms.. his nails dig into your clothes.

“i’m not letting what happened to them happen to you.”

ERWIN SMITH -

as the commander, he’s got a lot of duties to keep up with not including making sure his soldiers stay alive *ahem* but you’re not any soldier so!

he has no time to rescue you himself but trust me, someone close to him will be picking you up right away and whisking you off right next to him so he can see you’re safe and also give you a lecture.

however, if desperate times call for desperate measures he would leave his position for a split second to come save you, pat you down, make sure you’re okay and then dip again.

an unfamiliar hand whisks you away from your near death experience and places you right next to the one and only, erwin smith. he looks at you closely and pats you down as he says,

“well you don’t seem hurt, are you? you’re going to be staying beside me for the rest of this expedition.”

HANGE ZOË -

drops whatever they’re doing for you even if they’re doing their like deputy work, they’ll call someone to take over their position (could be an average soldier, causing great confusion).

no no no, hange saw you locked in that titan’s grasp and immediately springs into action. she taps the shoulder of a nearby soldier and said “hey! can you just- yeah, just stay right there” as they grab them putting them in their place next to erwin.

erwin eventually turns around and sees an awkward soldier waving at him instead of hange. he sighs.

while that’s happening, hange is flying through the forest chasing after you. they take down the titan and take you to a nearby branch. they frantically spin you around, making you dizzy in the process, making sure you’re not hurt. you did have some cuts on your legs due to you being squished with your swords beside you.

hange realises this and whips out a random roll of bandage from their pocket (?) they patch you back up and after they’re done asking if you’re okay, is the bandage too tight etc they eventually start talking about the ‘rush’.

“WOO!! IM SO FULL OF ADRENALINE RIGHT NOW, WOW.”

Temari was pregnant on her wedding day: A Naruto Timeline analysis

[usual disclaimer: I love studying canon timeline but no one's headcanons have to be bound to it just do what you like bye]

Note: for simplicity, I gave years numbers, the Kyuubi attack/Naruto's birth are in 2000 and the other dates are based on that

Fact 1: Gaara is at least 20

In Gaara Hidden, one of the councilmen tells Gaara "You've steadily grown, and reached the age of twenty" and Temari and Shikamaru are in the process of choosing their wedding date in this novel as well, so the Wedding has to happen later than that.

We know from the data book that Gaara is from the same school year as Naruto, and born in January, so he is born in January 2001. (In Japan, the school year is from April to March of the next year and the children in the same class are the ones born during the same school year, not civil year. If you want to know why I say that data books are based on school years, not civil years, flick me a request and I will happily do so! Just not here because it'd be too long.)

We can conclude that the wedding is in February 2021 or later.

Fact 2: Shikadai graduates 15 years after the 4th war

There is no indication that I've found in canon material about when the Boruto events happen, but we can read in this interview that Naruto Gaiden happens 15 years after the last chapter of Naruto. (We will have to assume that "last chapter" here means chapter 699, not 700, or else all the new gen has spent 15 years being teenagers at the academy.) Naruto Gaiden opens with Shino telling the class (Shikadai is there) that the graduation exam will be in a week.

The issue here is that chapter 699 happens in October (Minato says happy birthday to Naruto in chapter 691 the same day, and we know from the data books he was born in October) and the graduation is presumably in March (again, that's one the school year ends, and Itachi is also said to graduate "in the springtime" in Itachi Shinden). So it could mean either 15,5 years later, or 14,5 years later.

The 4th War happens in October 2017 (Naruto turns 17 during it, that's the age the data book gives us).

We can conclude that Shikadai graduates either in March 2032 or 2033.

Fact 3: Shikadai graduates at 11

It is the minimum age as per the law (it is said in Itachi Shinden, this law is made shortly before the Rookie 9 graduate: “now that it was a time of peace [...] it was no longer possible to graduate in a short time [...] no matter how talented Sasuke was, he couldn't become a ninja until he was eleven years old”).

It is the age at which all the Rookie 9 graduate (they are said to turn 12 during the first year of naruto and 13 during the second, again, I can give more details about data book ages in another post if needed).

The naruto wiki tells me that the Naruto data book says he is 12 for the Chuunin Exam, but the scan I have of the data book do not seem to indicate any age that I can find?

So this is not 100% a fact that I have found a canon material number about, but it's the most logical possibility (he's not allowed to graduate younger, there's no reason he would graduate older, this is what happened to the previous gen, and this is what the whole fandom seems to believe, so, yeah).

Similarly, everyone seems to agree that his birthday is September 23, I have not found where that comes from yet, but I have to assume it does come from somewhere. If you know please tell me!

[Edit: apparently it comes from a bonus calendar in the Shounen Jump issue 6-7 of 2019 but I haven't found a scan yet.]

We can conclude that Shikadai was born in either September 2020 or 2021, depending on the graduation date.

Conclusion

If Gaara Hiden and the wedding were in 2021, Shikadai cannot have been born in 2020, so he has to be born in September 2021. If we imagine that Gaara Hiden takes place right after Gaara's birthday (the earliest date) and then Temari and Shikamaru got married on the month that followed, Temari would have been 2 months pregnant, and this is the minimum she could have been.

The Rookie 9+Sai Sexual preference Headcanons

Naruto-while he may deny it, Naruto has as a bit of a voyeur fetish. Something about watching really gets his horses running. He's also a breast man. Playing with them, kissing them, paizuri, titfucking, all of it. So, other than his wife, he's had at least one fantasy about Tsunade (though he'd never admit it on pain of death).

Sasuke-he may not admit it, but our resident emo boy loves to be manhandled by a woman. Maybe because he didn't get close to anyone in his youth, he loves how his wife picks him up or holds his hands above his head. He also enjoys being blindfolded.

Sakura-While Sasuke is her one true love, Sakura is a sucker for any decently handsome dark-haired male. In fact, in another timeline, she would likely have fantasies about just about every able-bodied Uchiha male.

Sai-Sai is what you call "sexually curious." He likes to explore things and is just about up for anything. He's usually pretty docile as a partner, though.

Ino-Ino has a stomach fetish. Like, whether she's kissing someone else's or someone's kissing her's, she loves it. She's also pretty confident in her sexuality and is pretty willing to experiment. She has had fantasies about a number of people; Sai, her teammates, all of Team 7's members, and a few older ninja in the village (such as Kakashi and Asuma).

Shikamaru-guy's as lazy as it gets, so he's pretty much into letting his partner take the lead. Also, dominant women (whether he admits it or not) get him worked up, so expect a lot of commands and maybe a little hair pulling.

Choji-oh, Choji is the kind of person that'll cuddle you. Sure, he likes the ol foodplay, but really Choji is the best when it comes to aftercare and snuggles.

Hinata-growing up the way she did, Hinata likes a partner with golden retriever energy that will just shower her with affection. On the more taboo side, since she loves being smothered in love and attention, group sex and gang-bangs are kind of her hidden kink. So it's good that her husband can make ten of himself.

Kiba-Kiba is a wild child between the sheets; he loves it hard and fast, changing positions in the blink of an eye.

Shino-he likes a sort of "gentle touch" type of love making; like brushing sheer cloth across his skin slowly or a soft kiss on an erogenous zone.

In your personal headcanon, who do you consider older between Face and Murdock?

Let's just leave out Dirk and Dwight real ages, simply take as reference the characters themselves - this is something that I suppose we all asked ourselves at least once... and since there are no sure infoes from the show (for Murdock at least) I think most of people at some point created their personal idea on this topic

In my opinion Murdock is a little bit older than Face, now I'll explain why :P

At some point during the show they said that Face was born on 7 december 1950 (if I'm not mistaking lol) and in several episodes they reiterated that they knew each other and were already active as the A-team in the late 60s... which means that he enlisted at least in 1968 (considering the 8/11 weeks of recruit training plus the period before he met the team)

Anyway I think this age suits him very well so I simply go with it :D

Now it comes the difficult part: Captain H.M. Murdock

I haven't found even the most little clue indicating his age, so I went by traces: if I remind correctly he surely worked 2 times for CIA and the first of them was in 1967 (if I'm wrong please forgive me, I'm going by memory :P)

Now, I don't know how this things works but I don't think that the agency would simply took rookies (for how skilled they could be) on their first month... I mean, I assume they searched for someone who had some experience that went beyond the 'school flighting hours' for being sure that the task they'd do would be completed successfully... which in my head means that Murdock would be already flying from some time in 1967

I started reading an autobiography written by a Vietnam War heli-pilot and he said that becoming a helicopter pilot during mid 60s took about 9 months - Murdock though can also pilot planes and military jets (as showed in a episode of season 5) which would have taken similar time, maybe a little less, even if always thereabout 7/8 months

But when he learned to pilot them? In my headcanon this all happened before the heli-course, cause if after, where he would have found the time to go back in the u.s. between flying troupes and spending some time with the team?

Even considering his ultraterrain skills in learning everything there would have been a least 1 year and some months of training to get both his plane and helicopter licenses, so he would have to start from the first thing in late '65 or at the beginning of '66

I think he would have started the plane training when he turned 18... so to me his age go well as Dwight's one, cause having him born in 1947 would leave him the time to do all this stuff before meeting the team

This would make Murdock (born in 1947) about 3 years older than Face (born in late 1950) and I think it's a dynamic that suits them pretty well

Splitting up Team 7....Let's get into it

Disclaimer❗️: I'm not trying to dog on anyone who makes alternate team headcanons for fun. I have my own thoughts ofc, but as long as you're truly not hurting anyone, it's not that deep. I'm sharing my thoughts on this since I've seen this take a few times over the years, but do with it what you will!

Tbh, it baffles me when ppl say that Sakura (bc that's usually who's removed from the team in these takes) or anyone else on Team 7 would've had better development if they were assigned to a different team. I think people fail to consider that Team 7’s close, consistent proximity and becoming teammates was one of the key reasons why they were able to get past their initial impressions of each other and form a deep bond.

This is only one example, but as far as we know, no other team went on any dangerous missions like Team 7 did to the Land of Waves. Granted, that was an outlier since that mission was supposed to be a C rank; however, it was vital to their individual growth. It shaped their perceptions of each other as teammates and of the shinobi world as a whole. If Sakura, Sasuke, and/or Naruto were placed on a different team (assuming little-to-nothing else was changed in the series), I'd deem it unlikely that they would've grown to be the shinobi they became, although not as quickly.

If you want, you can view this through the lense of recent media, particularly the YA genre. There are many reasons why they tend to be set in middle/high school (though I think that's starting to change and expand, thank goodness), one of them being the outcomes of forced, consistent proximity.

The characters are placed in an environment where they're (more often than not) forced to interact; it's not like college or other settings where you can simply leave if you don't want to be there, especially without it being fair to others in your group. While it’s ultimately up to them to choose whether or not they want to become more than acquaintances with their classmate(s), their relationship has a higher chance of forming due to being consistently around each other.

The same applies to Team 7 and honestly, the other Rookie 9 teams. They were all placed on their teams- a learning and training environment with forced, consistent proximity- for a reason. Ino-Shika-Cho being placed together since they're THEE Ino-Shika-Cho trio (if any sensei had messed that iconic trio up....bless their hearts fr), and Team 8 all being trackers.

For Team 7, it was also so they could all learn and benefit from each other in some way. Naruto could benefit from Sasuke’s proficiency in ninjutsu, Sakura's intelligence, and both of their calmer personalities(give or take with Sakura) seeing as he got the lowest marks at the academy and misbehaved a lot. Sasuke could benefit from Naruto and Sakura's social and outgoing personalities seeing as he got low scores in cooperation and teamwork.

While Sakura performed well in her academics, she slacked greatly in anything pertaining to using physical strength. She could benefit from Sasuke and Naruto's taijutsu and battle skills seeing as she got low marks in taijutsu.

I think it's also worth noting that Sakura is a balance of their personalities while having her own. While she's not always on 10 like Naruto was, she was able to be social and upbeat and like him. She wasn't emotionally cold or nonchalant like Sasuke, but she was able to match his calmer "think first, act later" demeanor. Ofc, they've all had their moments and didn't act the same way all the time. I love that Team 7 can share one brain cell at times, lol.

As I said in the preface, I'm not trying to down anyone making alternate team headcanons for fun. That being said, it's just odd to me that people claim that placing them on different teams would suddenly "fix" their characters. Becoming a team was an integral part of their characterization, with each of them serving a unique purpose in one another’s growth. (This includes Sai too, though that may be a convo for another day.)

Like the title says, this was a starting "Let's get into it" post. I have more specific thoughts on this take, but these are my initial thoughts for now :).

on the yandere sasuke thing, I've seen 1 or 2 fics where yandere shinobis are kinda common because they're all so fucked up. what do you think bout that? I'd think it'd be more common with certain clans, like the uchiha, the hatake and maybe the nara, depending on how they're portrayed.

do you think sakura would notice the whole yandere thing? girliepop is observant, but sasuke kinda blocks all her common sense lol

Wouldn't surprise me, therapy doesn't exsist to these mother fuckers so some shit had to develop because of it. I could also see one of these fucked clans actually praising when one of them went yandere. I know they all had to be dragged to therapy kicking and screaming when Sakura used her privilege as sensei's favorite/good child to get Kakashi to make therapy mandated for shenobi.

I think at least at first Sakura would do what a lot of people would do, and she would rationalize away any yandere traits she saw. Maybe she didn't question because she saw some similar things from Ino during their friendship. Probably thought, oh, this is a ninja clan thing. Then, probably sometime between the land of Waves arc, she starts questioning it to herself quietly, rationalizing it less and less. By the time we reach the Forest of Death her eyes are fully opened to some of the fucked up shit ALL her teammates and other graduates do. Now she's like ok what the fuck? But she treats it as normal because that's all she's surrounded by, and she's 12/13 she doesn't know better.

When starts training with Tsunade and spends more time learning taijutsu with team Gai, spefically with Lee and Tenten (the only others I headcanon as coming from non ninja clans) she realizes this is not supposed to be normal. ALL her friends from her rooki 9 are just fucked up. That's when she makes it her mission to drag all their asses to therapy and learn how to at least compromise with the yanderesim.

She and Sasuke probably have a system worked out, so he doesn't kill random civilians that most likely involve conseual genjutsu use on one another. Enemy ninja are fair game, though, and if Sakura starts copying some of these habits that she's been surrounded by forever well, that might just stay Sasuke's secret.

5. [QUESTION] What are some of your headcanons for his FBI career, do you have any?

I don’t have many head cannons for his FBI career, I tend to write/ think about his life outside the BAU more so most of these revolve around him and the team.

I think like how Spencer had Gideon as a mentor, Rossi was that for him. Rossi saw through Aaron’s mask of confidence to the man who was just trying to keep afloat, I don’t think Rossi would have made it obvious he was trying to take care of the man beneath the agent, but he would make sure Hotch was eating and sleeping on cases.

As a rookie member of the BAU he saw how everyone worked alone and the cases that could have been solved if they collaborated, maybe he put the idea forward of working as a team.

After his time on SWAT he keeps up with most of the skills he was taught/used there- it's the only way I can rationalise him suddenly having sniper? skills.

He learns what cases affect which team members, often taking them out with him to do a coffee run to give them a break but denying that was the reason. He would also have remembered everyone’s coffee and food preferences.

He really doesn’t want to climb higher than Unit Chief, needing to be out in the field doing the legwork rather than behind a desk, this probably caused issues with Haley wanting him working 9-5.
