It’s really bothers me when people act like it was only Juliette who was left heartbreaken that night. Y’all never want to see Calliope side and what she might have felt. Finding her brother “dead” and coming home to see him alive but also a turned legacy vampire. Seeing her brother being the very thing that he hated and the very thing that killed his mother. And then finding out her GIRLFRIEND turn him, all in ONE NIGHT.

Calliette Sickfic

Juliette was starting to get worried, she hasn’t talked to calliope since last night when they said goodnight to each other, she hasn’t sent her usual ‘good morning’ text, or responded to Jules and she’s not answering her phone. Cal was supposed to go to Juliette’s house so they could spend some time together, just relaxing and watching movies.

Cal acted like she was fine on the phone but she’s been feeling kinda sick and stuffy since yesterday, she just ignored it and pushed through, she even went on a hunt with her brothers, adding two kills to the arrow on her arm, but when she finally got home after talking to Juliette, she took some medicine, maybe a tiny bit too much, took a hot shower and after that, her body crashed.

Jules was really worried and by 12 she decided to just go to Cal’s and see if she was ok, when she climbed through the window everything was dark except for the shaded light coming from the window Cal always left unlocked for her. Jules looked around the room and saw Cal curled up in her covers, asleep. Jules knew something was wrong, Cal was always awake early, training, working out, reading, she rarely ever slept in. When Jules got closer to the bed she saw some open NyQuil and a bunch of balled up tissues on her nightstand. Jules laughed to herself and took a picture before she climbed into the bed, sitting next to Calliope.

Cal must’ve felt Jules next to her because as soon as Juliette sat down she got in between Jules’ legs, used one of her thighs as a pillow, nuzzled her face into Juliette’s shirt, and brought the cover up over her face as her arms wrapped around her waist, “you’re so soft” Cal mumbled, it was so low Juliette definitely wouldn’t have heard it had she not been a vampire, and then she went back to snoring softly.

Juliette sat and read a book on her phone until calliope woke up an hour later. “Jules what are you doing here?” Cal asked as she yawned and stretched, still resting in Juliette’s lap, “I got here like an hour ago. You were supposed to come over and I was worried about you, why didn’t you tell me you were sick?”Juliette asked softly, “I didn’t want you to worry about me, I’m fine” Cal responded, as she sniffled.

Cal got up and straddled Juliette’s lap, covers still wrapped around her, she put her face in Juliette’s neck, it wasn’t until then, that Juliette realized Cal was burning up. “No you’re not you’re burning up and it’s almost 2 in the afternoon and you’re barely awake. Have you eaten today?” Said Juliette,as she was speaking she pulled the covers off of Cal’s body, Cal shook her head, “can I have my cover back please” Cal mumbled into Juliette’s neck. “No. I’m gonna order you some food so you can take some medicine, when you cool down you can have it back, lay on the bed for a second” Juliette said, Cal let out a whine and snuggled closer into Juliette, refusing to move away from her.

Juliette stood up with Cal in her arms, in the year they’ve been together she’s dealt with Cal being sick once and on her period many times, and she is always clingy, and sometimes a little bratty, but she had no problem with it, she carried Cal to the bathroom, she could easily carry Cal around with her strength, and used one hand to grab a rag, wetting it with cold water and going back to the bed. Once Jules sat back down Cal lifted her head and let Jules wipe her face, behind her ears, her neck, and her arms, Cal let out a soft sigh as she laid her head back down on Juliette’s shoulder, the coolness of the rag felt good. Juliette ordered Cal some chicken noodle soup and crackers from Panera bread.

By the time the food got there Cal had fallen back asleep so Juliette laid her down softly and went downstairs to get the food. Juliette got the food grabbed Cal a Gatorade from the fridge, and found some cold & flu pills in the cabinet. After everything that went down, Talia divorced Jack and slowly came to terms with the fact that her daughter was in love with a vampire, so now they were at each other’s houses all the time and nobody blinked an eye when either of them would randomly appear at the other’s house.

Cal took the pills and ate leaning back on Juliette while they watched “The L Word” on Cal’s laptop. They got a good few episodes in before Cal curled up in Jules’ lap and fell asleep again. Jules found the way Cal was curled up in her lap adorable, she took a pities and made it her wallpaper, then closed the laptop and moved Calliope slightly so she could lay down. This was not how she envisioned their Saturday, but she enjoyed it nonetheless.

truth serum / system reveal au where shen qingqiu gets hit with an uncloaking spell that reveals the system in the reflection of his eyes every time it pops up.

during one of his missions, in the treasure hoard of some dragon-like creature, he finds a golden, oval shaped hand mirror, its gaudy style more victorian based than anything (airplane you hack!), that doesn't seem to do anything when he looks into it. but when he does, it reveals the system's screen in his eyes.

he doesn't notice this, of course, because he can't see it, and the system, surprisingly, stays quiet.

the peak lords think he's cursed.

maybe mu qingfang is the first to notice, during the mandatory post mission check-up, when shen qingqiu is scrolling through his most recently accumulated points and mu qingfang can see the strange vividly-blue lines reflected in his pupils. it's gone when shen qingqiu blinks, like it was nothing but a trick of the light.

it comes out when yue qingyuan is visiting and, just as he's done laying out the plans for a new mission, shen qingqiu's eyes glaze over and a bright blue box takes over the whole of his iris. shen qingqiu goes quiet; the thing in his eyes moves, shifts, pulses for a second, like static worms crawling all over his pupils. then he blinks, and it's gone, and shen qingqiu accepts the mission that yue qingyuan was almost sure he would decline.

maybe there is an intervention, when the peak lords corner shen qingqiu at qian cao peak and try to figure out what's wrong, subjecting him to all kinds of treatments and curse-finding spells that turn up empty, they can't find anything.

of course, the silencing threat is still very much up and running. at first shen qingqiu was kind of confused by the whole ordeal, but when the peak lords start describing a "strange blue box", he realizes, with sickening suddenty, that they're describing the system. and he can't say anything.

this only makes everything worse, because their fellow peak lord now keeps evading every question and acts like he doesn't understand. liu qingge points right at his face and asks, "that blue box, what is it?" and shen qingqiu laughs nervously and starts talking about how bright the weather is and surely it's the sky and nothing to worry about!

even worse, during the intervention the system thought it was a good idea to start talking to him, so now even the peak lords who hadn't seen it and who might have been persuaded by light tricks and reflections, get a first row view that no, that definitely isn't a trick of the light.

they try to do the whole thing of "are you in danger, blink twice" but shen qingqiu can't even do that because it's still a direct admittance!

maybe eventually he starts saying vague confirmations that don't actually confirm anything, like "this master hears what you're saying", or maybe he goes with a classic "this master can neither confirm nor deny that." but the system starts warning him for that too and eventually he stops saying anything, which worries the others more.

luckily mu qingfang catches on that every time they ask a direct question about the box or shen qingqiu says anything vaguely confirming, it appears. it doesn't appear when they ask about curses or demons, so it must not see that as a threat.

for a little extra angst: maybe the peak lords keep pressuring him for answers, and at some point shen qingqiu gets fed up and snaps out something like, "why don't you understand that i'm not allowed to answer that!" the system counts this as a direct admittance, threatening it's existence. so it punishes. shen qingqiu has a qi deviation so bad it lasts two weeks and takes two people every day to cleanse his meridians. the system doesn't appear in that time. it doesn't appear for a long while after that, either. the peak lords stop asking, mainly because shen qingqiu will instantly leave the room if they do. they don't stop searching for a cure, though.

shang qinghua returns from a business trip and catches on the second someone mentions a blue box and forced silencing.

Every time a streaming service puts out a new show with deliberate focus on diverse casting and featuring queer characters, refuses to devote any marketing budget to the show at all, and then cancels it for not getting enough hype, we should be allowed to ritually sacrifice an entertainment executive.

Bruce would give up the mission if Dick ever died. And not in the angry-grief way of "this is the last straw on the camel's back" aka the way he sorta kicked Dick out, but in the "hasn't set foot in the Cave in over a month because the last time he did he kept hearing Dick's laugh echoing across the stalactites" way. He literally cannot bear to put on the cowl, to be Batman, because Batman has existed longer with Robin than without. Bruce doesn't remember being Batman without Robin (without Dick) anymore. He can recall his first meetings with a few of the Rogues, but beyond that? It's been so long that those first 2-4 years are all just a haze of self destructive grief. Dick flipped his entire life in a 180 to the total opposite direction. He showed him how to hope, to love, to live. If Dick dies as an adult, Bruce would've spent half his life with his first son. No matter what age Dick dies at, Bruce will have always spent more time being Batman with Dick Grayson as a son rather than without him. Dick changed Batman, changed Bruce so irrevocably that Bruce wouldn't ever be able to wear the cowl without remembering him.

Being someone who read Under The Red Hood and came out with the firm belief that, for Jason, it's not about killing Joker, it's about Jason wanting proof Batman would choose him over the Joker (bc shelia chose the joker). Makes seeing any other media where it's all about just wanting the Joker dead is a teeny bit frustrating. to be honest

Jason could've killed the Joker himself, really, really easily. Jason kidnaps the Joker before the confrontation. I can't open my comic for a reference right now, but it felt like he had the Joker for quite a bit before the confrontation. He had him. He beat him up with a crowbar. He had every single opportunity to kill the Joker himself, but he didn't because that wasn't his goal. Make no mistake, he did plan for the Joker to be dead by the end of it, but do you see what im trying to say here

It's not about making Batman kill either. When Batman says he won't kill, Jason adjusts and goes, 'Let ME kill the Joker or kill me to stop me' instead. The test is all about Batman choosing him. The whole final confrontation is Jason's first death again. The parent, The Joker, and the explosives. It even ends with Jason unable to move as a bomb goes off right next to him again because the parent didn't choose Jason. And instead tried finding an option that'd benefit them and (consequencely) letting the Joker walk, again, lol, lmao <-in agony
