i keep getting recommended videos about how minecraft isn't fun anymore and it's mojangs fault. i think its such a fascinating phenomenon because i think at least 70% of that comes down to anything getting a little stale when it's all you do for years and years. of course you're going to not feel like something is as fun as it used to be, you started playing minecraft when you were 11 and you are 23 now with a job. things change and you are experiencing it.
#As someone who's played Minecraft all these 15 years... The game is still great.#Take it slower and build even if it's shit. Mod the hell out of it. Go back and play beta or alpha.#And if you're still not having fun... It might be time to step away for a while. That's okay.#I started another survival world back in January and I still have so much fun with it.#I've heard a lot of critique about the progression but... It's all up to your playstyle and how you prioritize your tasks.#I understand Microsoft's influence has led to some shitty decisions. That's valid. But the community is so strong.#Of course I'm not saying critique isn't valid. I have my complaints too. But saying the game isn't fun anymore isn't true to a lot of peopl#image#described#ignore my rambles I just love MC.

So with the terrible Minecraft movie trailer dropping,
I've seen a lot of people bringing up better stories in the world of Minecraft, like Story Mode or the books or the SMPs, but may I add another option that would be a way better use of your time and money than the Minecraft movie (esp cuz its free)?
Animation Vs. Minecraft
(Note: contains out of context spoilers for this series to give you a sneak peek of what's waiting for you)
There's a good chance you've seen the first video, since it's one of the most watched minecraft videos on youtube, made by the same guy who did Animation vs Animator.
youtube
But did you know that the stick figures pick the game back up and continue the series?
There are now three completed seasons packed with fun episodic content that naturally blossoms into a larger, engrossing story that amounts to /several hours of animated content/. It's got fun characters, gorgeous fight scenes, and even musical numbers, all told with next to no dialogue!

The whole thing is a love letter to Minecraft, with way more passion and knowledge of the game than WBS.
New episodes would show off the latest updates, like when the main characters explored the ancient cities and lush caves before they were officially released.
There are even homages to the Minecraft animation community, such as the episode featuring Monster School (my favorite part of this is the way they purposefully imitate the old janky animation in Herobrine's movements)
Not a fan of piglins always being villains? While there's certainly some bad piglins in this series (though I'd argue they're under duress), the main cast also befriends some, include this adorable piglin child.

Still not over Reuben's death from MSM? Well they've also got a pig (named Reuben by the community), and it both doesn't die, and occasionally does some badassery himself!

Speaking of the action, this series doesn't just reference minecraft's world and creatures: it expands on the mechanics and worldbuilding, creating avenues for some truly incredible action that can only be achieved within minecraft. It takes full advantage of the medium and world.

My personal favorite example of this is the team's expansion on the Lucky Blocks mod, exploring the idea of a "randomizer" power to its fullest extent.

The action scenes are the kind where you have to watch them five times over because each character is doing something completely unique and fun.
Here is all the episodes of season 1 compiled in one video to get you started, though there are also playlists out there:
youtube
All in all, this series is funny, gripping, and adorable, and is worth your attention far better than some corporate schlock.

man im just like. thinking about egg signs and how they've evolved over the course of the qsmp and how the qsmp has evolved over the course of the qsmp and just feeling so much love and affection for every part of the project. i dont have any grand overarching point with this just. like. here's a history of egg comms bc of the kind of person that i am
so wayyyy back ten months ago now at the start of the short and sweet egg event that was planned to last maybe a month at most, the eggs had their own custom, decorated signs!
[ID: Leo with a pink sign with an egg on the bottom corner that reads "hello" in all caps. Her nametag reads Leonardo. End ID]
They were extremely simple, single word signs. There was hello, hola, story, feed, sleep, and maybe one or two more and each was its own separate sign. The eggs could only communicate the most basic needs in words and everything else was through minecraft body language or just hoping their parents guessed right.
But obviously, there was a lot more that parents wanted to hear from their children. I'm not sure who was actually first, but the earliest departure from this system I know about is BadBoyHalo giving Dapper a simple oak sign so he could name his pet slime. (Screenshot from @/lxrd-ren)
[ID: Dapper wearing a diver's helmet standing next to a tiny slime in a boat with an oak sign reading "Bouncy (slmecicle but better)" End ID]
Parents quickly realized how much more convenient this was and pretty soon every single egg had stacks of signs to communicate with.
The next innovation came from Vegetta, who was the resident mod knower at the time. He knew about colored canvas signs and gave Leo signs in her favorite color purple because he loved her and gave her everything she wanted.
[ID: Leo's bed in her room under some Fooligetta fanart with a purple sign reading "<3" End ID]
Colored signs obviously had a lot of advantages. Being able to tell at a glance which egg placed which sign was a huge step forward in eggs being able to have long, complicated conversations as well as leaving obvious marks of their personality everywhere they went. It took a little while for them to be standard for every egg though. Bobby never stopped using oak signs even after Richas and Pomme both showed up with colored signs.
[ID: Two signs reading from right to left a red Pomme sign reading "we already started working on a guillotine factory" and a dark grey Dapper sign reading "thats the most french u have said so far pomme" End ID]
And this was the system for a while! And it worked pretty well for most people! The biggest struggle most people had was egg signs not being translated, but streamers adjusted to that by reading signs out loud so the translators would pick up on them. This also lead to adorable and fascinating dynamics like Richas swearing in signs he wrote for Bad and then warning Bad not to read them out. There was also the genuinely phenomenal development of Leolingo where Leo writes only in Spanish to Foolish because it's easier for her to write and he takes his time to puzzle his way through it and learn in a way that's super cool to watch someone else do onscreen.
Then Tubbo joined the server. And Tubbo himself had no problems at all with the system, but he is dyslexic and he casually mentioned offhand that it was getting kind of annoying to read signs after a ten hour long stream and the admin team Fucking Cooked.
Within 24 hours, they had TTS working on the signs. Within 48 hours, it was working on books too. I can't remember how long it took to get translation working, but it was definitely under a week.
And this opened up a whole new world of possibilities for the entire QSMP. The admin team has been on top of capitalizing on it for story purposes, but also just allowing the egg admins to speak in their native languages to everyone whenever they want has been so enriching for everyone involved. Leolingo is awesome but Foolish has been learning Spanish insanely fast and his process is a lot slower and more frustrating than most people can do in front of an audience of thousands of people without feeling discouraged. That's also one language. We've had everything from Foolish being able to check his work a bit more faster to Phil insisting on his eggs taking a day to speak to him in their native languages to Ramón writing a book for Fit in Cantonese, a language we haven't even seen on the server in any other context!
And all of it is fully understood and fully communicated! Sometimes the translators mess up but no one expects them to be perfect and people ask for clarification if the translator says something that doesn't sound right. It's not only a massive step forward in communication technology, but it's a great demonstration of how to use it and when you can and can't rely on it.
And finally, the most recent innovation! One of BBH's viewers sent him a dono saying they had trouble reading certain signs because they were too low-contrast. Bad, Richas, and Pomme just. Took it upon themselves to fix the problem right there and then. Based on One (1) bringing up their own personal struggle, those three came up with new signs that innovate tremendously on the originals.
[ID: Two separate images of the before and after. The first is the egg signs in their original colors with the corresponding egg's name written on them to demonstrate the font color and the second is in the new, higher contrast colors with the same text. The new signs also have custom decorations for each egg. The second picture also has two signs from Pomme in all caps that read "Send all the love to Richas he spent a whole night making this he's the best <3" End ID]
There are three main innovations visible in the above pictures
1: Obviously, the colors are higher contrast. The signs with white text have darker colors and the signs with black text have lighter colors.
2: The colors themselves are lower saturation. Richas said this made it easier for him personally to read them so he corrected that way, but that's open to change if it causes difficulties for more people than it helps
3: The decorations are for accessibility reasons! People with various different forms of colorblindness will find different sets of colors easier or harder to distinguish, but any of them can look at the decorations and use them to identify whose sign is whose instead.
But! Those innovations are not why I made this post! It's these ones!
[ID: The backs of the new signs when placed on the ground. Most visible are Chayanne's with vines and a hardcore heart, Sunny's with shining sunglasses, and Pomme's with an apple and the Eiffel Tower. End ID]
Richas added distinguishing marks to the backs of the signs too! This is something that Bad brought up specifically as something he wanted because it was hard for him to tell who was talking when he was using TTS from behind signs and couldn't see the colors at all.
We went from custom egg signs (a hotbar or so of words and nothing else to communicate with) through a long journey of expanding communication and expanding who we're bringing along on the communication and how easily they can join in and we've circled all the way back around to custom egg signs (they can say anything they want in any language they want and anyone will know it's them saying it from any angle)
and i guess i have enough feelings abotu that to write All This about it

── 𝐌𝐲 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥
A Twitch streamer and a YouTube vlogger start interacting online, and the internet can’t look away.
a/n: this is modern day tlou au, these are just headcanons but I might make this a series :P
: ̗̀➛Back to source

{[Streamer!Ellie x Vlogger!Reader]}
╰┈➤ 𝐅𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧
You first take notice of Ellie when you come across one of her twitch clips while doomscrolling on TikTok.
It’s a clip of her absolutely raging after losing a game in the funniest, most unhinged way. You watch it three times because her reactions are hilarious and weirdly charming.
You don’t even realize she’s a big streamer. You just think, “Who is this angry little goblin and why is she so entertaining?”
So you fall down a mini rabbit hole, watching her highlights, and funny clip compilations, then finding her Twitch.
You start putting her own for background noise while you edit your vlog videos. Of course having to turn the volume down when you do voice overs, though you can always hear her tuned town voice yelling as she keyboard smashes.
One day you comment on her TikTok post,
Xx.y/n_l/n.xX: You’re the human version of a broken controller and I love it.
And Ellie is IMMEDIATELY interested in you, since she doesn’t really ever have verified accounts comment on her videos who aren’t her other streamer friends.
Ellie recognizes your username, vivid memory of your overly cutesy vlogs popping up on her YouTube feed as she searches for new games.
Ellie likes and replies,
RageSaurusRex: Takes one to know one
On stream, she casually mentions you, “Apparently some YouTube vlogger called me a broken controller… solid first impression.”
After that, you both lowkey stalk each other’s content. Ellie watches a few of your vlogs while pretending she isn’t invested. She especially likes your get ready with me posts. While you still watch her chaotic Twitch streams, trying not to laugh out loud when she accidentally says something stupid.
The mutual stalking goes wild.
In a random Twitch stream, you pop into her chat and she immediately notices. “Wait. No way. Xx.y/n_l/n.xX is in my chat? Mods, behave.” It’s playful, but her ears turn red.
Safe to say her chat went crazy as she perfectly pronounced your user with no thought at all, perfectly memorised.
Ellie slides into your DMs after the stream, casual at first… well, casual to Ellie’s standards anyways… sending you memes so unfunny they turn out hilarious and it quickly spirals into an ongoing conversation that never really stops.
╰┈➤ 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩
Ellie’s streams are mostly chaotic, she likes playing bloody and violent video games, with lots of graphic content. But if you ask her to play more relaxing games she hops on that shit so fast you have no idea.
Suddenly the games she plays on stream are more chilled out, but she somehow makes peaceful games rage inducing. Though she still likes to play her violent games… she likes to throw in some Animal Crossing and A little to the left, just for you.
And you start mentioning her in your vlogs, maybe you are filming a ‘find stuff at the thrift with me’ video, and come across a guitar, Savage Starlight comic, and dinosaur plush and casually mention your online friend liking that stuff.
And your viewers IMMEDIATELY know who you’re referring to. This is the moment where fanbases start to merge.
Everyone goes crazy when Ellie calls you on stream to invite you to play a co-op game, and who are you to say no?
The first few minutes of gameplay are filled with awkward jokes, Ellie trash talking her own gameplay as she mines, and both of you getting caught up in a whirlwind of laughter.
By the end of the stream, fans are already making jokes about you two being ‘that couple’ even though you’re just starting out as gaming buddies.
So now you and Ellie have a little series on her Twitch channel of your guys cute modded Minecraft world.
After the collab, Ellie occasionally drops little comments during her streams, like, “Oh, don’t worry, I’ll let Y/n win this round. I’m that nice.” Her fans eat it up. They tease her, ‘Are you just trying to impress them?’ and Ellie plays along, dramatically rolling her eyes. It’s all an inside joke, but the fans are certain something more is brewing.
You and Ellie have this natural, easy back and forth relationship. Teasing, bickering, laughing at anything and everything. Feels totally unforced too.
Viewers eat it up, clipping every little moment where you two banter like an old married couple and the editors go crazy editing your cutest and funniest movements.
You guys get close very quickly, though you are complete opposites, you guys get on so well. And your viewers notice this, clipping every moment you two mention each other on your channel or her streams. Making cute compilation videos.
Makes people question if you two could maybe be more?
After the first few collabs, you and Ellie start messaging off-stream more often than you did originally. Late-night Discord calls, sending each other dumb memes, casually complaining about trolls and the stress of your uploading schedule … until it starts feeling weirdly personal and real.
You and Ellie fall into a natural rhythm of playful teasing. If Ellie messes up, you’re quick to call her out, “I’m pretty sure I could’ve done that with my eyes closed.” And she comes right back with, “Maybe you should! It’d be an improvement!” There’s no real tension, it’s all fun and games.
But fans definitely start noticing how comfortable you two are with each other.
Off-camera, Ellie is way softer. She sends you voice notes with her raspy laugh, asks you for recommendations for songs she should cover with her guitar on live, and lowkey gets jealous if she sees you post content with someone else.
The line between online friends and something more gets messier every day. Little inside jokes turn into flirty comments. Your chats get longer. Your smiles get a little too genuine on camera.
You’re in the middle of an co-op, and Ellie jokes, “You know, I think we’d make a great team… in life.” Your response? “Right, as long as you promise not to scream my ears off.” Chat erupts. Clips start circulating of the back-and-forth, with comments like ‘Are they secretly dating or just the most iconic duo ever?’
Sometimes, mid stream, there’s this tiny pause after you say something sweet, Ellie wants to say something but doesn’t. And chat definitely notices how her freckles cheeks get a bit more rosy.
Also, even when you two aren’t playing together she always somehow manages to bring you up. She casually mentions your name in her streams, “I was playing with Y/n the other night, and you know, they almost didn’t completely suck. Almost.” Her chat immediately lights up with comments like ‘Aww, they’re cute’ and ‘is this wuh luh wuh?’.
Yeah, you guys definitely could be something more.
╰┈➤ 𝐅𝐚𝐧𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐝𝐞
And people ship you guys so hard, everyone in her chat always asks about when she’ll stream a Minecraft video with you again they practically demand it, and she always laughs it off saying something along the lines of: “She’s got her own channel to take care of, chat. Go watch her vlogs if you miss her.”
A few fan edits appear, showcasing moments when you and Ellie are too comfortable with each other. One fan edit has a side-by-side of you two laughing, with the text “When you realize you’re lowkey in love with your gaming partner.” The comments go wild, including one that reads, “They’re definitely dating, there’s no way they’re not.”
They start shipping you two so much that the hashtag #EllieAndY/n quickly trends on Twitter, even though you two are just friends… for now.
People go crazy when you guys comment on each others instagram posts, especially when she calls you pretty on your most recent post. Your fanbases start colliding faster than expected. The crossover is hilarious, with Ellie’s followers getting curious about your YouTube content, and your subscribers discovering her Twitch streams.
Fans put together compilation videos of the ‘cutest moments’ between you two, including Ellie pretending to be offended when you win a round, her leaning into the mic to yell your name in a faux-dramatic way, and both of you staying up past midnight to finish a game. The fans add text like ‘#CoupleGoals’ and ‘Best. Duo. Ever.’
A flood of fanfiction starts to appear in your comment sections, all based around you and Ellie being an unlikely couple. One fanfic is called ‘Unlikely Duet’ where you two play games and bicker, but end up falling for each other after a series of increasingly ridiculous gaming mishaps. Readers comment things like, ‘If they’re not together in real life, I’m going to riot.’
╰┈➤ 𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐑𝐋
People start speculating on how you posted on Instagram a photo of you at the airport, theorising how you could potentially be letting each other??? Maybe???
Of course they were right.
Ellie starts one of her streams where she just talks to her viewers, and it’s only a few minutes in when she announces she has a special guest.
And pulls you into frame on an old spare gaming chair she has. Her chat goes CRAZY. Even some of your viewers joining her stream.
The stream lasted only half an hour before she ended it. And it mostly consisted of you two giggling and smiling at each other as you talk about random stuff.
Not even two days later you list on your YouTube a vlog titled, ‘Travel with me to Seattle’.
And the blog consisted of you travelling the first few minutes, until you finally meet Ellie in person, giving each other a big hug. (imagine the cutesy edits).
The rest of the video is you and her meeting some of her friends while you film everything cool you could find in Seattle. Until you end it in her film room.
Now, after maybe half a year of just speaking online you guys do everything you can while you’re with each IRL.
Posting on instagram, taking photos together.
Getting on with her friends, Jesse and Dina, who when you aren’t around, tease her about you. Safe to say Ellie may have developed a little crush…
“You’re set up is way cleaner then I thought it would be.” You casually mention as you look at her fancy gaming set up. “You thought it’d be messy?” She laughs at you, nudging you as she lets you play some of her games. (She won’t tell you she cleaned her whole apartment for you staying over for a week.)
When she’s dropping you off at the airport to go home she gives you a big hug that lasted a little too long for friends..
“I can’t wait to do this again.” You whisper in her ear, arms around her neck, your suitcase and bag carelessly left on the ground as you say your goodbyes. She let out a chuckle, shaking her head. “Yeah, me too.” Her freckled cheeks heat up.
And after your year long online friendship, and a whole week of being together in person, you guys share your first kiss in the airport.
It was just a complete coincidence when one of her viewers recognises you two and takes a sneaky photo and post it on twitter.
WAIT STOP I LOVED WRITING THIS SM!!! SHOULD I DO MORE BUT ITS THE START OF THE RELATIONSHIP???

Hello hello! Because MCYoutubers cannot stop referencing their past work, today im making the MCYTCU (minecraft youtube connected universe)
Feel free to add in in the comments with things I missed and other additions to the universe, and with that, lets get into it!
So let’s start with Hermitcraft, because of references within the series, we can assume that seasons 1-10 are all connected. (However I doubt they are in chronological order, with season 8 being the end of the world)
Moving on, in Season ten, Joel smallishbeans has made several references to Lizzie, but specifically Ocean Queen Lizzie from Empires SMP season one. This means that Hermitcraft 10 takes place during or after Empires 1.
And we can’t forget the empires 2 and hermitcraft 9 crossover. This creates a slight inconsistency with Joel’s ocean queen builds, but I've come up with two possible solutions: 1. The rift used to travel between hermitcraft and empires transports people through time as wells as space, or 2. Hermitcraft Joel found out about Ocean Queen Lizzie after both empires 1 and 2 took place.
Having connected Empires and Hermitcraft, we can now add Life series to the mix. In Empires 1, Scott references flower husbands at least twice and Martren from Wild Life was briefly featured on Hermitcraft 10. Considering that this creates another inconsistency in the timeline with Third life being way back in empires one while Wild life takes place in modern day Hermitcraft 10, I’ve decided to save myself a headache and blame it on the watchers.
(A note: I haven’t found any evidence that solidly connects the watchers and EVO to the main universe, seeing as Martyn’s Eyes and Ears au is his personal au and not canon, I’m not counting the watcher’s involvement in the life series)
Here is where the fun begins: On the QSMP, Tubbo and a few eggs were watching Secret life. (As in they had a mod that allowed them to watch it in Minecraft) and Cucuruchotio (I def misspelled that) mentions both Grian and Mumbo, meaning that QSMP takes place around the same time as Secret life.
Using that connection, we can use Philza’s lore to connect Earth SMP, the DSMP, and his personal hardcore world, seeing as Phil is the same person in all four places. (Note that Bad and Foolish also seem to be the same as their DSMP counterparts)
Continuing on with this theme, Bad and Foolish seem to be the same person in The Realm SMP as in QSMP (it’s unclear if Phil is the same person)
Now with Misadventures SMP, we have even more references to Empires 1 and 2 as well as third life with the crypts, further solidifying our universe.
Now let me wrap up a few loose ends and share some interesting tidbits before I end my yap session:
I’m not sure if Martyn’s datastream lore is canon to any of the Smps listed above, meaning I’m not sure if Rats SMP, Pirates SMP, and any of those other SMPs are canon
I don’t watch lifesteal, but I know there are lifesteal members on The Realm, so if anyone wants to add on any contributions for that, that’s fine
FitMC’s QSMP lore makes 2b2t canon
Origins is probably not canon since origins Phil is different from his current lore
I’ve heard through the grapevine that Sausage referenced Empires on The Realm. I’ve not been able to confirm this.
Spanish speaking SMP Karmaland may also be canon due to Spanish speaking QSMP members
The Portuguese Arkanis may be canon as well for the same reasons
Empires 2 and The Realm both have Skulk corruption arcs
likewise, DSMP's egg is eerily similar to Empires 1's xornoth corruption
there are like 5 different Scott Smajors running around
Anyways, I may attempt to make a timeline, but this is literally just a 'lol what if' post made for fun, have fun using it for AUs and Fics as you so please. (And maybe tag me in them because I like seeing these)
as I said before, if something I said was incorrect or there's something I missed, feel free to comment or reblog your addition!

Been watching Calvin’s from the fog videos and now I’m obsessed with Minecraft again.
My Lore for herobrine/players:
Ok so my version of players is that they are basically shapeshifters from the void. All the tiny white dots in the void are player stars (the brain) they command their surroundings void to either consume other weaker stars or the End island to create more void.
Physical Players started being allowed on the surface when the God, Creation (Mojang) found potential use with the void stars, that being helping them create new shit for the world ( Modding ). Now this is where herobrine come in, just before the Piglin war Creation decided to put their experiment into motion by pulling out one of the void stars (herobrine) without any accompanying void and as a defense mechanism it shut itself off. Creation spend months try to find a way to reactivate the star or communicate with it but after 4 month with nothing they decided to let the other gods, Knowledge, Foresight and Action to try their luck with it. Unfortunately before they could get any real work done with it the Piglin war started and they had to turn their attention to preparing the ancient hero for the upcoming battle.
At the end of the war right before the Gods returned to the Well of Fate, Action, who still had the dormant star on their person, drop it into the Overworld without realizing, leaving it for one of the ancient hero’s to find. That hero being Steve, one of the first three hero’s to be summoned by the Gods, he was a scientist and researcher of the slow forming civilization of ancient Builders while his older brother Brian and his daughter Alex were warriors, a ‘real’ hero they’d call it but we won’t get into that.
Anyway Steve found the fallen star and since it was the Gods who left it behind he assumed it was a gift, so he took that star deep underground to a newly constructed city/laboratory (the soon to be deep dark). Down there Steve had a team of 7 main researchers to help work on the mysterious star. 3 cleric villagers, 2 witches and 2 members of the newly made mob, Illagers. During their research, tension grew between the villager and Illagers, it got to the point where every Illager and villager interaction ended in an argument. One of these arguments however happened in the testing chambers where the star was held and currently getting a close contact check up by Steve. It started when one young villager, Issac Larmon kept pestering another young Illager named Esmith Hensworth, about her peoples interest with ‘concerning’ new methods of magic. Their petty disagreement quickly turned into a full fledged debate when other villagers/illagers researchers working on golem creation nearby decided to put their two cents in and pick sides.
Steve needing to keep his focus on the star, it being incredibly fragile, wasn’t able to defuse the situation leaving the tension and negativity to rise in the room tricking the star into think it was back in the void therefore reactivating itself while still being held by Steve. The star began to do what it usually would if it were in the void and that is to ‘make more void’ by drain the life from Steve’s had and replace it it with this tar like substance. ( the exp from Steve’s hand floating within it) This caused Steve to immediately let go of the star let it fall and crack a few shards off, this flip a switch in the star now realizing that it is in fact not in the void and is in desperate need of a shell now that it’s hurt, so it buries itself into Steve’s chest and unfortunately for for the both of them Steve’s human body was not made to hold something of the void along with the fact that it was such a sudden transfer that not only did it completely burn out Steve’s insides and light coming out his eyes/mouth it also cause an explosion and right before that explosion happened Steve turn to see his brother Brian coming down to see what all the commotion was all about. That being the last person he saw before he died and the only thing the star grab from Steve’s died conscious was his brother’s name: The hero Brian aka Herobrine.

Could I request a Singer!Reader x Tommyinnit fic with the song ‘So American’ by Olivia Rodrigo? I think it would be cute if tommy bragged about reader on stream and she wrote songs about him <3
I assume you wanted a song fic, and if not… too late… whoops…
Pairing: Cc!Tommyinnit x Fem!Reader
So American
Drivin’ on the right-side road He says I’m pretty wearin’ his clothes
Tommy’s eyes are on the window, looking vaguely surprised every time that the Uber takes a turn and reaffirms that, yes, he is meant to be driving on the right side of the road. It was something he jokingly called “barbaric” when he first visited your parents with you, but now he simply gives you a disgusted look to confirm that his beliefs on it hasn't changed.
His arm is over your shoulders, playing with a loose thread on your sweater. Technically, it’s his sweater, but you claimed it as your own this morning. You claim most of his clothes as your own, actually. You liked wearing his baggy sweaters, he liked seeing you in them. Your fans go wild for it.
A fair trade, in your opinion.
His clothes were softer than yours for some reason, and they smelled like him. Plus, he had about a gazillion sweaters. He could definitely afford to spare some for you.
“The fuck is that?” Tommy asks, squinting at someone in a chicken costume dancing on the roadside with a sign. “Are they a fucking chicken?”
“It’s advertising.” You explain, laughing at the look on his face.
“Take a photo, take a photo.” He directs you, barely waiting for you to get your phone out before he snatches it to take a photo while the Uber drives by. Then he flips the camera to take a selfie of you two, making a horrified look for the photo. You mimic his expression. “There, send it later, I’ll post it.”
“Got it.” You take your phone back, zooming in on the photo of you two to see how you look in it. Your hair’s a little messy, but that's to be expected. It’s a long Uber ride, after all.
“You look pretty as always, stop inspecting the photo.” Tommy grins at you, yawning after.
“Yeah yeah.” Clicking your phone off, you drop your head onto his shoulder. “Whatever you say, Tom.”
“Damn right, whatever I say.”
And he laughs at all my jokes And he says I'm so American Oh, God, it's just not fair of him To make me feel this much
“This mod adds alligators to Minecraft.” Tommy says, showing you it.
He’s trying to find a collection of mods for a new modded Minecraft video, but he’s run through most of the good working ones. And he wasn’t receptive to downloading a virus for a video on the bad mods.
“What do you call an alligator in a vest?” You ask, looking back down at your phone. “An investigator.”
He stares at you. After a moment of silence, he snorts. “That was so shit. Never make a joke like that ever again.”
“You still laughed.”
“But it wasn’t funny.” He stresses. “It was a pity laugh. Your joke was pitiful.”
“So you say, but you laugh every fucking time.” You smile brightly at him: he can’t help but smile back.
“There aren’t even any fuckin’ alligators in England, man. You’re so American!” Tommy nudges you with his elbow, going back to scrolling through mods.
So American. A common insult, but he has a way of making it seem endearing.
“And you’re so British.”
I'd go anywhere he goes And he says I'm so American
Tour life is exhausting.
Traveling from place to place, staying in hotels that range from absolute shit to five stars, you start to wonder why on Earth you’re doing this. But, for all your complaints, you know Tommy is even more exhausted. After all, he’s the one performing damn near every day. And although he loves it, you know it’s draining.
So there you are. Waiting in the wings after every show, giving him a hug when he runs off stage. Enduring the same creaky hotel beds as he is, although he uses your body as a pillow while you use the hotel pillows.
Despite it all, it’s incredible watching him shine. He’s in his element, sharing comedy and humor with the world. And every single show, he always seems awed at how many people show up.
You’re glad you get to be there to see him flourish and to support him through it. Even if you get stuck with the odd-job of trying to fit Freddy into a dog costume a few too many times for your liking. Even if Tommy drags you out onto the stage for bows despite your lack of being in the actual show and your protests.
Simply put, you’re happy to be wherever Tommy is. He inspires your songs, pages of your notebook filled with the mere idea of his stage presence.
Your fans are probably tired of it by now. You’re not.
I really love my bed, but, man, it's hard to sleep when he's with me When he's with me
“Turn the light off.” Tommy groans, face in a pillow and arm thrown over your stomach.
You glance at the light above the bed, the switch within arms reach. The hotel room is otherwise dark, matching the time of how late it is. And yet you can’t go to bed. With Tom next to you, your mind is racing, inspiration racing through your thoughts like lightning in your veins.
“I’m almost done.” You promise him, knowing you’re not. The notebook full of song lyrics and ideas is crammed full, the page you’re working on is half empty. It’ll be filled by morning.
“Bullshit.” He complains, blindly grabbing for the notebook and pen. He whacks you in the arm, making you shove him, and he finally gets his hands on your prized notebook. “Fucking thing.”
Yelping when he drops it off his side of the bed, you try to lean over him to grab it back. Instead, he acts like an octopus, throwing all his limbs around you like you’re a damn stuffed animal.
“Tom—“
“Light. Off.” He demands.
“I need my notebook—“
“Light.” He repeats slowly. “You have a recording tomorrow.”
“That doesn’t mean I need sleep.” You grumble, but reach out and flip the light off. The hotel room plunges into darkness, and Tommy makes an agreeable noise.
Within what seems like mere seconds, he’s out as easily as you had turned off the light. Exhausted from his stream earlier, no doubt. By all means, you should be exhausted too. Yet the warm body next to yours keeps you wide awake.
If you blink, or close your eyes, he might not be there in the morning. The best damn thing to ever happen to you, a British guy. You won’t lose him, or everything good he’s brought to you.
Laying your head on his arm, you stare blankly at the ceiling. Half-formed lyrics with no background music swirl around in your brain, pushing insistently at your cerebral cortex in a desperate bid to escape from being thoughts and becoming reality.
Tommy snores loudly, knocking you directly out of your thoughts. Laughing, you nudge him with your foot. He rolls, suffocating you with the way he ends up half atop you.
You’re more than happy to let him.
But ain't it love? I think I'm in love
Two steps forward, five back. Turn, flip your hair gracefully.
The metronome ticks in time with your moves, keeping count for you so you stay on time. Although you preferred the singing part of your job, you tough it out with your choreographer for dances. Besides, seeing it all come together is immensely satisfying.
“Run it through one more time girls!” Your choreographer, Elain, shouts with a clap of her hands. You scramble back to your spot, flyaway hairs already sticking to the back of your neck. Who needs a workout when you have dance?
By the time you’re finished with the last run through and take a break to chug some water, you’re dripping sweat. Attractive? No. But you worked damn hard, and it’s proof of that. All of your other dancers are sweating too, chatting between swigs of water.
You grab your phone, swiping it open to check your messages. Your manager was meant to email you about a certain venue sometime today, and you didn’t want to miss it.
But the second you open your phone, it vibrates with a call. A photo of you and Tom pops up, his name broadcasting across the screen. You smile automatically, knowing damn well he has your schedule memorized to call you during breaks.
“I thought you were streaming?” You ask, accepting it and raising it to your ear. One of your dancer wiggles her eyebrows at you, knowing exactly who it is.
“If only my man was that good to me.” Another girl jokes, laughing.
“I thought you were dancing.” Tommy snarks back on the phone. “Slacking, huh?”
“Oh, fuck off. I’d like to see you dance. Last time you broke a vase.” You lean against the wall.
“It was in a stupid place and it was fucking ugly.”
It was on a table, and it was flower-patterned.
“It was fine, Tom. You just can’t dance. Wait— I take that back. You ‘club girl’ dance.”
He gasps commercially, then starts shouting into the phone. “You bitch! I do not! I am a sexy sexy man while dancing!”
Your jerk your phone away from your ear, laughing despite the fact he probably just burst your eardrums.
“Break’s over!” Elain shouts, eyeballing you in particular. You nod at her, bringing your phone back to your ear. Luckily, Tommy’s stopped shouting.
“—Jack goddamn manifold is coming over for the stream, so I have to hide all your shit because I don’t trust him with it—“ Tommy is saying, rambling about a topic. You wish you could skip choreo to listen to him for ages, FaceTime him and watch while he talks. God, you miss him. You really should plan a visit to England again soon.
“Tom.” You cut him off. “Sorry, but I’ve got to get back to dancing.”
“Is it already—? Oh, yeah.” He sighs. “Fine, I guess I can let you leave my amazing presence. Call me after, or else.”
“Promise.” You assure him. “Love you.”
“Love you!” He echoes back enthusiastically.
You end the call, frowning down at your phone for a second. Definitely need to plan a new trip.
"Girl, stop frowning!" A dancer calls out to you, and you laugh, dropping your phone.
"Yeah yeah, I know."
You're lucky to be in love.

Flufftober prompt 24: Game night (Ben Drowned)
list here god i missed listening to nightcore, playing some songs while i write this ueueueu take me back to middle school plsplsplspls i want to go back to being whimsical and making edgy ocs plot: you and ben play some games together and try to have fun! notes: platonic post, heavy on the hcs for the admin, ben is physically inside the console for most of the fic, reader is gn, you guys are playing minecraft because the admin doesnt have much gaming experience LMAO word count: 752 cws: none
"Did you raid my house?" You asked out loud as you looked through the chests in your house. They were all empty, picked through clean. Not a single item was left. You'd be less annoyed if some dirt or cobblestone were left behind, but Ben was thorough. A static cackle pulls itself from your computer speakers.
You don't respond. This was one of the more tame things he's done in the world, at least it didn't destroy anything. You were wise to start a new world instead of opening one of your older ones, you were sure if you had your work would be left in ruins. You were tempted to join a server with him to play games...
What all would he have been capable of there?
In a single player world he's already proven to be able to build anything he wanted- and destroy anything. Large craters and random block placements from him trying to spawn and contain something, or to try to bug you as you tried to run away.
You've sworn off playing alone with him when it's dark due to him playing a well placed noise while you were focused on exploring a cave. Something Ben still holds over your head, and pouts over when you refuse to play with him in the middle of the night.
A finger taps on the keyboard as you think over your options, you could go mine for the materials again if Ben doesn't give them back. Which he probably won't, he may have full access to the creative menu- something you had tried to prevent so the both of you could work together in survival, but trying to prevent a ghost hacking your game was virtually impossible.
You couldn't kick him, either, the game didn't register him as a second player. He was simply there.
Leaning back in your chair you look up at the ceiling.
"You make playing games with you difficult, man... you know that, right?" You glance at the screen as it flickers. The graphics warp and glitch, before flickering into a solid color as a pair of hands reach forward. They feel blindly in the air in front of you, before coming down to the edge of the desk and settling, soon a head peers out.
Ben doesn't pull himself entirely out of your computer, instead remaining in the current position he was in. One that did not look at all comfortable.
Static and crackling filled the air as he remained, his eyes narrowed.
Not angry, more so annoyed.
"It's not my fault you're boring, it's a sandbox game- you can do anything and you just follow building tutorials and mine," He frowns, sticking out his tongue at you.
"It's a sandbox game meaning I'm allowed to do whatever I want," You shoot back. He hisses in response.
"We can try to find something that's more your taste, there's got to be something..." You tap your foot on the ground. You'd have to wait until he retreats back into the computer or exits it. Assuming he would let you run it properly if he returns into it.
"Minecraft's nice, maybe you could put in some mods? Like the ones the people you watch have,"
You ponder for a moment.
"Like the horror ones?"
"Yeah like the horror ones, those ones!" He grins, fingers curling tighter around your desk.
You purse your lips, and stare at him. "Only if you play survival with me, no cheating. It's not fun if I'm the only one getting chased."
"For you, but I think it's funny."
You glare at him, and reach for your mouse. "Whatever... can you move out of the way so I can look for a couple to install?"
He nods, before backing into the screen. Suddenly, he pauses and looks at you intensely, red pupils staring right into your own eyes.
"Don't add too many dweller mods, I can't stand most of those." He hisses.
You nod, knowing full well that he would take control of the computer if he saw you installing a mod he didn't like the looks of... You make a vague mental note to get a better protections on your computer, Ben clicks on just about anything that catches his eye.
He finally fully returns to the screen, leaving you in silence in a now empty world. The sound of your player picking up multiple stacks of items at the same time makes you jolt.
Ben had given you back your things.

𝐎𝐬𝐜 𝐈𝐬𝐜 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐚𝐟𝐭
For my beloved son @jinjersnapz. I know I'm surprised I finally got around to doing this as well. Enjoy :*
Characters: Orderly!Blue, Jonathan, Nathan, Shiv, Jack Warnings: Vague fantasy death and torture references.
𝐎𝐫𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐥𝐲!𝐁𝐥𝐮𝐞 𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬
He saw some 'fuckwit' cleaner playing it on their phone and confiscated it. The moment his office door shut curiosity compelled him. Out loud he murmured that the app was 'stupid', meanwhile for the new few hours of his shift he continued taking over the poor cleaners world until the phone went from 84% to 17% and the diamond chest was emptied.
Most of the time he spent killing things, setting TNT off in the villages, luring creepers into pits of lava and eventually setting traps for any mob in sight. He has a particular hatred for parrots, their habit of mimicking mobs always startling him, especially if it was a spider or zombie sound, the paranoia would set him into a rage until his iron sword had hacked the poor bird to death.
𝐉𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐲
The first time he played this game was in its early days, on an old Xbox, with his daughter. In her youth, she was mostly interested in finding dogs, giggling when Jonathan exaggeratedly fought off zombies and making oak plank houses with neon pink wool in creative mode.
Many years later, when his daughter was too old and cool to game with her dad, Jonathan found the old console and game while cleaning out the attic. Nostalgia plucked at his heart and led him downstairs to the living room to boot it all up. The updates took ages, and two cups of coffee ad a cigarette later he was sat there punching a tree.
Quickly he realised he was more of a creative mode man, much like his daughter, wanting to get lost in building a little plank house, starting a farm and amassing a small army of dogs.
A week later, he's watching YouTube tutorials on building cottages with working chimneys and maximizing villager profits.
𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐧
He was the one that made the working Windows 7 in Minecraft. And the working red-stone powered Die Hard movie.
Ironically, he hated gaming in his younger days, opening more to it as he grew older. Getting up to workout every time there was a minor coding mishap was becoming a drag when setting elaborate red-stone traps to commit war crimes on innocent villagers was free.
On the odd occasion when he's had too many beers, he boots up a crazy mod pack, be it a zombie apocalypse, flood map or something that changes all the mobs to Nicolas Cage.
𝐒𝐡𝐢𝐯
Playing minecraft was a nightly occurrence between Shiv and his son, always putting an hour or two into their shared world before bed.
To Shiv, playing wasn't something he did to appease his son, Minecraft was equally serious to both of them. The man finds himself going to sleep and planning their next nether trip on the odd night, or going to work still pissed off from the creeper that blew up the edge of their base the night before.
Despite being equally as scared of the mines as his son, Shiv takes up sword and shield to protect the boy and their cat as they strip mine.
He also threw his son a minecraft themed birthday party, partially for his own amusement.
𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤 𝐉𝐨𝐡𝐧 𝐉𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬𝐨𝐧
Had never heard of a 'mined craft' until he saw the display of it at a shitty target he was stealing from. Went back every day for a week straight to play on the little 'gizmo', being surprisingly peaceful with a little homestead and farm as he adventured.
Came back one day to see some kid had blew his stuff up and he wired a bomb to go off after the store closed so no one could enjoy it.

i'm gonna say it:
ugly sonic is better than the minecraft movie
i cannot stress enough how fucking angry the trailers make me. the only enjoyment i get from watching them is gawking at how insanely awful the whole thing is. it's uncanny, it's gross, it feel disrespectful to the entire spirit of what minecraft is supposed to be. "flint and steel" was the only thing that got a laugh out of me, not because it was genuinely funny, but more of like a "what the fuck lmao" type of moment.
every trailer has chipped away my already incredibly low faith more and more, to the point that i'm actually offended that they're pushing out into theaters.
ugly sonic may have put me into disbelief, but everything related to the minecraft movie has upset me so much. like. it's not hard to make a good movie for minecraft. even parkour civilization, as overstimulating and cheesy and ridiculous as it is, is so much better. because it embraces how cheesy it is and does it well enough. and i've yet to watch the whole thing because, as i've said, i find it slightly overstimulating. and there are so many series and videos and genuine works of art related to minecraft already out there and it baffles me that a multi BILLION dollar game has a movie that looks this bad.
hermitcraft, life series, stampy's lovely world, white pine, parkour civ, the librarian's from the fog, artimator, 100 days challenges, horror mod series, garfilled, zeemyth, horror args from andrewgaming to the one with the noodle moon anomalies to oldroot, mcc, the fallen kingdoms saga, fucking mincraft story mode. all of these and more embody the actual nature of mincraft so much better because even if modded or altered it's still minecraft. it still has that minecraft vibe that none of the trailers have been able to provide. i can't tell you what exactly the vibe is, but it's there. the movie just feels like those shitty clickbait videos that prey on children for views and money. there's none of the heart, the serenity, the feeling of possibility and beauty that this 15 year old game about building blocks has given so many people.
this game means so much to me. and this movie clearly doesn't care about anyone but the most impressionable, gullible of children. this movie isn't minecraft. it doesnt even look anything like the game.
minecraft is about surviving. struggling. spawning into a world for the first time and being scared of creepers and skeletons. it's running from ghasts, raiding mineshafts, building bigger and better houses. getting spooked by cave noises, swearing up and down to your friends that no, herobrine is real, i saw him and he killed my dog. spawning the wither for the first time, failing to kill it, and running away from everything you had ever known to escape it. discovering the world borders, building an army of dogs, sneaking the tablet late at night to follow a build tutorial. creating a world just to blow it up and cover it with lava. build a hotel out of colorful wool. typeing "deez nuts" into the seed generator to see what happens. typing your name to see what happens. running from the warden, fighting the warden, flying with an elytra for the first time, getting swarmed by phantoms because you've been sucked into a project for several hours. sitting in your room while it rains outside, panicking with your friends because your all backed into a cave, running out of torches and food while mobs close in on all sides. those 2 week long hyperfixation sessions. learning better build techniques. trying out mods for the first time, playing on public servers.
that's minecraft. not... whatever the movie has going on. like i don't even like piglins that much and i feel bad for them getting the short end of the stick in the movie like that.
and don't even get me started on the villagers. dear god.
at least they cared enough to fix sonic. minecraft couldn't give less of a fuck, and it shows.

For a spooky true story post, here's something that's been happening with me and Minecraft for the last >3 years.
In 2021 I suddenly had the inspiration to try hosting a tiny Minecraft Beta 1.7.3 unmodded server for me and online friends, which developed into something great and turned out to be a really prosperous move, even though ever since and from the beginning it's all been played by just me and one other person. But it's also where I started to discover that I have problems with Minecraft usage memory loss.
This isn't the kind of thing that I'd call supernatural or something like that, but it does creep me out, because these occurrences badly go against what I feel should be normal.
And though somebody could just make all this up, I can't make it up because it all actually happened, and I'm not going to lie here about what I think I do and don't remember, either. Everything that I say happened here, to the best of my knowledge, actually happened in Minecraft in conjunction with real life.
Starting with the original Monty Home - the name of this server at the time - in 2021, one day I started making tunnels in the ceiling of The Nether. They were narrow, cheap tunnels, and they had a practically-camouflaged stair entrance. So I didn't stumble upon them again for a long time.
I was attempting to find new interesting places in Beta terrain generation by making new portals Nether-side, yada yada yada, you know the drill.
I did come to a sense of normality with this one in the end, remembering that I had an old venture to bridge distant overworld chunks, but for a while, I was really stumped when I accidentally rediscovered these tunnels one day. I really did not remember that these strange tunnels were built by me. That day in which I found the tunnels again was in 2022. And here are the screenshots I took while I was doing that.
Records in my communication channels say that this scared me and it was a real "What the fuck?" moment. And that I killed a Zombie Pigman while I was in there, which I guess now I realize I didn't have to do because I could have just tunneled around him...
The picture further up in the grassland area is what I believe to be one of the tunnel destinations, taken before I forgot the tunnels that I carved existed. At least the memory came back into focus after a while, though.
Not all of my memories of developing on places I altered in Minecraft have come back.
While checking old places in my records to get information to write this, I was reminded of the time a diamond pickaxe I made in Monty Home went missing. Same Beta 1.7 world as above. I told my friend it went missing and that I definitely made one, and he was stumped. I always privately suspected that he was screwing with me, but not anymore. Now I think my ability to remember erased the pickaxe's location. He told me he found this to be weird and creepy. He wondered if maybe it was a server glitch, but I bet it wasn't. I still don't know what happened to my diamond pickaxe. Nobody allegedly remembers where it went.
After Monty Home, the server was modded and became Monty Cabin. There was also an era of Monty Cabin where I played Better Than Adventure with my friend, which was fun, but has no significant events in today's recollection that are supposed to be covered here.
Skipping ahead to 2023, I've somehow figured out how to mod Minecraft Beta 1.8 with the ModLoader API like a champ, in spite of having very little Java experience and a bunch of other odds. The mod goes online for a good long period and after some much-needed crash fixes, I create the world named Mt Creep. I also have a bad thyroid at this point and being in my brain is a nightmare.
So, my Minecraft mod is well under development in a version called Pre-Alpha 023, and it's September of 2023. I walk into a tunnel in the Beta 1.8 Nether that I do remember paving to, but I find an offshoot tunnel to it that I don't recognize and post these:
Fortunately I remembered what this location was and why I built it in the end, probably because it is now an integral part of a Mt Creep project I was chasing, the swamp base that is now connected to Mt Creep (the town) by minecart rail. People who have known my microblog for a while may have recently seen the video I posted of that railway. I visited the swamp again by going through that same portal in November that year. These days the swamp base is very well long-since built, and I hardly visit it now. Though at some point I'm supposed to add more vines and two kinds of moss stone.
Finally, we have the weirdest one I know about of them all. The flight of stairs in that same mod, in an older NBODE world, this year.
This staircase seems like something I would do, but I don't remember building it. I don't remember the tunneling or the crafting of stairs or even the cave below it, even though I went up and down these stairs and checked out the cave. I'm particularly curious to know why I built it. I can't figure out even now what the actual purpose I had in mind was. Later on I visited the stairs again while the server was being used by two players.
I believe my friend when he tells me that it's not there because of him, he thought of this staircase as being too much work to be him, and that his staircase would be not this tidy.
But I don't remember building it. It's a useful staircase, I like that it's there, and I'm not annoyed with it. But for all my ability to remember thousands of things, things in Minecraft new and old, things in real life that happened a long time ago, even if I never want to remember them again, hundreds of different traumas, things that fuel intrusive memory anger... I don't remember going here and spending several minutes carving virtual rock and building digital stairs.

ive been playing heavily modded skyrim and the combo of a different start mod+ legend of the dragonborn (as well as not using fast travel in tandem with a better horse carriage mod) has COMPLETELY shifted how i play. 1: the lack of dragons at the beginning to the point where the introduction of dragons is going to helgen and seeing alduin fly over and leave has a really striking impact because you know what skyrim was like before dragons, and if it takes a while to do helgen you get used to not having to worry about an enemy that big for a while, the museum mod also changes how i interact with items because everything is now in dedication to my curation, so im more on the look out for unique items and they dont rot in drawers anymore. plus the lack of fast travel has me mentally considering the map more and which places can go where (ex: winterhold is a one way fast travel point so if i want to go there i have to be mindful that i'll have to walk back to windhelm) either way i just wanted to share this because i thought youd find it interesting
I certainly do. I think Skyrim has more in common with Minecraft than most games. It provides basic rules and mechanics and a large place to explore, and it is best experienced at the player's own pace.
I frequently wonder why Skyrim is still the best of Bethesda's work. Well... interestingly, Fallout 3 elicits this same feeling. Bethesda games peaked with Skyrim and FO3, and their attempts to re-ignite those feelings have been incredibly mixed.
With other developers like Bioware or Ubisoft, it's well-known that there's so much personnel churn that the teams who made a specific game don't truly exist anymore. But Bethesda is a rarity in that broadly speaking they haven't had the same extensive turn-over. So they managed to make lightning strike twice but not a third time; no one can argue that FO4, 76, or Starfield recaptures the Skyrim Vibe.
The writer in me wants to posit its due to the narrative; FO4's rising action is such a terrible structure that I genuinely believe it detracts from the Find Your Own Adventure. Starfield's structure isn't the same level of clunker but it also requires too much context that slows the player down. FO76 might come closest with its focus on Pure Mechanics but Bethesda flinched from that and now it's this Frankenstein mess of microtransactions and shoehorned-in NPCs.
But all of that... it's not the reason. I think there was just something specific about the juice at Bethesda with FO3/Skyrim, and the world designers just managed a masterpiece there. If you slapped the terrible FO4 opening plot onto Skyrim, I think it'd still be Skyrim.
Ponderous.

Forever World Trend ~
So if you've taken the time to look around Youtube, you probably saw that the 'Minecraft Forever World' and the 'Two Week Minecraft Phase' are trending. I just wanted to chit chat a bit about this trend, because I find the whole concept of a Forever Lasting World or being honest about a temporary world is SO interesting.
--
My Thoughts
Forever World
I think the idea that this world is essentially going to be forever, or as long as you possibly can play it, makes starting the world and keeping the world ten times more exciting. It isn't just some random world you'll lose interest in after a month, it's the world you'll put all of your best efforts into because you'll be coming back to it every time you play.
As you spawn in, and get a good look at the surrounding seed you'll be covering with builds and farms and other things, makes it feel much more like starting at a new school, making a new friend, an exciting nervous change from the throw-away worlds you're used to.
It also allows you to play the game more as it's intended, a slower place, being mindful of the nearby forests, caves, etc. because unlike a regular survival world, you'll be revisiting them eventually as you build around your spawn.
I just recently started my first proper forever world with my boyfriend, which granted, I guess if we break up, it ruins the chance of a forever world (for him, I'd keep playing on it) but I don't think we're leaving anytime soon.
And, I have been thouroughly enjoying prioritizing normal survival tasks and building rather than end-game. It makes the process so much more fun, especially since we modded it.
I just had a thought, for the writers out there, you can even channel your inner mcyt 2020 era and write lore for your forever world!
Temporary World
Now while the Forever World is exciting, I think being honest about a temporary world and just having fun is equally as exciting. A lot of times, or at least me personally, I tend to lie to myself about these temporary worlds, which causes me to burn out.
I tell myself it's going be long-term, and that I'll come back to see my builds, but it usually gets deleted to make space for the next one I add.
The way I would suggest looking at these two-week phases is for what they are, and use this time to practice things you wouldn't do in a permanent world mindset. Try out new build techniques, styles, areas, crops, mining, etc. Try the new things that won't really change anything when you eventually abandon them.
You can go as crazy as you want, building things out of diamond blocks or crazy old-school Minecraft iron houses from your childhood. That is also super fun. Just channeling your inner child, or artist, or whatever, and going crazy with no restrictions.
If you want to cheat yourself a diamond set of armour? Cheat it! You have full reign to do whatever, and sure that applies to the forever world too technically, but with a world that you don't really care for, you can do anything without regretting it.
--
Well, I know this is a random post, but I just felt like yapping about it a bit since I am in my Minecraft hyper fixation again, and all I can think about is Minecraft and my worlds...
Thanks for reading!

I have two minds to answer this, because part of me is going 'WE GOT EM!!! WE GOT EM!!' While the other part of me is like 'oh god how do I tell them. Who’s going to tell them.' The easiest way I can explain: Tom, Ben, and Harry are not in a minecraft series together, and the lore that I have for them is not based in any actual series. HOWEVER. DON’T LET THE TRAGIC TRUTH MAKE YOU CLICK AWAY /silly so I can explain properly LMAO
Here’s a TLDR for anyone who likes these guys and is a lil interested in them!!
Most of the lore for these three is based on an amalgamation of inside jokes, non-minecraft character trends, and general yogs minecraft world lore!
Tom was an editor (now has a YouTube channel, AngoryTom) and did behind-the-scenes minecraft prep for the Yogscast for so long that he was never really interested in any actual "main channel" series besides [Dig Site - 10 episodes] with Simon, Lewis, and Ben, and [Skyblock - 2 episodes] with Ben! Although he’s also played several npcs throughout various main channel series since he was helping run the show lol. My take on his character is that he’s a former yoglabs employee due to [YOGLABS CLASSIFIED INFORMATION] and now lives his laziest life ever in an undisclosed remote location. He’s also the demigod of death but he’ll never tell
Ben started doing main series mc content a few years ago, but hasn’t done anything mc with Tom and Harry until recently (see below)! His character is a Shark Hybrid due to [YOGLABS CLASSIFIED INFORMATION] who now lives with Tom at the same undisclosed remote location.
Harry has been an insane speedrunning minecraft legend for ages, but was never in any main series content bc he’s actually a graphic designer for the yogs. But he was part of Iskall’s twitch vault hunter event back in November, and he’s now in the [Vault Hunter Series - Ongoing] with Ben and Duncan on YouTube! <3 so there’s plenty of mc content of Harry and Ben, but not so much Tom. c!Harry has lived remote for as long as he can remember, locked in Hardcore, until…?
But again, I base their backstories on a bunch of kinda loosely connected lore dots that are half based on jokes <3
Below the read more includes: links to clips, compilations, and very brief lore explanations (though you can check my other lore drawings in Tom’s tag (#Angory Tom), Ben’s tag (#bedgar), Harry’s tag (#brryhrry) or posts that have any of them, which should be under the (#the outcast trio) tag)!
BEN AND TOM
I’ve been in love with Ben and Tom as a duo forever, since the TTT (modded Trouble in Terrorist Town) days, where Ben’s player model was Left Shark, and Tom’s model was Emperor Palpatine (yes from Star Wars. I can’t stand them). But Ben and Tom have been yogs editors and Behind The Scenes guys forever, so it wasn’t until more recently that they became known personalities in the main yogscast circle (4-5 years is pretty recent in the 10+ years of yogs content timeline LMAO).
Through Warhammer streams and behind the scenes stuff, I kinda fell in love with their chemistry and idiocy, and they worked so well with the “main cast” that I just had to put them in the yogs minecraft universe, somewhere. Turns out, Tom had actually done a majority of the "behind the scenes" work for the Yoglabs series (he built a majority of the main building, did mod research and testing, was present during recordings to make sure things went well, stuff like that) so it only made sense to have his character be the Right Hand Man/ Behind The Scenes Assistant to Xephos (Lewis), the Morally Questionable Head of Yoglabs.
For anyone who’s unfamiliar with Yoglabs, it’s one of the yogs’ more famous series featuring Simon (Honeydew) and Lewis (Xephos) where they tested mods! more info can be found here!
c!Tom also ended up as a Lumian (the fanon alien space species for the yogs fandom, vaguely inspired by Star Trek Vulcans) because of a one-off joke where one of the Yogs artists drew him as a star trek commander, and I really didn’t need any further reason to make him a weird little guy LDKFJG
As far as the “demigod of death” thing goes, it felt right to give him a lore thing that vaguely coordinated with the whole “Emporer Palpatine” vibe, since that’s kinda the mc skin he’s used most recently. There’s another reason there that I don’t think I’ve properly explained, so I’ll leave the rest of that be for now ;]
Ben, on the other hand, plays a shark character in pretty much every video game he ever participates in, so shark hybrid was a pretty obvious way to go. And of course, since the duo had to be in the same place… involving Ben’s shark Hybrid-ness with yoglabs experimentation made good sense and good angst. What can I say :]
Here are the bigger lore posts I’ve made so far (in the order i posted them i believe!), explaining in a little more detail plus art to go with! :] [x] [x] [x]
HARRY
Harry is kinda known as the yogscast’s token memelord? But in the ironic way. He somehow makes it genuinely hilarious idk man. His humor is very dry, witty, and sarcastic, but he’s a sweetheart and kind of a god at minecraft. I’ve been arguing since day one that this man should be in mcc but we won’t go there
There aren't many solo harry compilations, so here's a link to a Harry and Ben compilation hehe
Regarding his minecraft lore, pretty much all of it is based around the idea that he’s a god at speedrunning and hardcore Minecraft. A common consensus in yogscast minecraft lore is that respawning is actually a Yoglabs-based mechanic tied to clones and clone making. I thought it would be interesting if Harry could be tied to a hardcore element in the yogs lore purely by having Somehow slid under yoglabs’ radar. And since he was never in any main channel (aka modded) series, i usually associate him with Vanilla mechanics, and since i also view mods as a Yoglabs-related lore element, it made sense! So basically— no clones, no respawns, no mods!
except that he’s in a main channel series now. So I’ll need to find a new lore reason around that DTBJDFGHK
And his design, well… this man’s skin is straight up Mr Mime, and there’s only so much I can do with that /silly But he’s a HUGE Pokémon fan! He’s played a couple of Disaster Nuzlockes with Lydia from the yogs a year or so ago, if that’s something you’re interested in! Was a huge comfort series for me for the longest time and rly good background noise, theyre soooo good at Pokémon I promise <3
Harry does more twitch stuff (hrry on twitch) than youtube stuff, so twitch is the best place to check him out if you're interested in his solo content!
Last thing I'll say about him is that he designed and ran an original minecraft minigame called "Capture the Wool" and he and Martyn are the hosts for a few episodes i think! i dont think there's any way to explain how entertaining it is to listen to him announce the chaos of yogs members trying to play competitive minecraft LOL
Um, so. TLDR…2, These guys are basically my ocs and now I get Actual minecraft content from them which is crazy. I love them as content creators and cool guys so so much though, so! Definitely recommend listening to these idiots (affectionate) babble and ramble to each other, mc or not <3
#yogscast#bedgar#angory tom#BrryHrry#hrry#ben#tom#the outcast trio#art escapades#sorry that's so long but my love for them is showing hehe#i haven't completed decided if i want the “the outcast trio” tag to be for posts with ANY of them or just ALL of them so --#if you have a preference feel free to lmk <3#also feel free to lmk if you check them out :3 they are everything to the me!

Hi, I really like your art, just wanted to say that
I was also wondering if you have any art tips, I'm trying to get better but am struggling a bit
Also, you don't have to answer this, but what modpack do you use in the minecraft posts? I was interested in playing it but couldn't find it
have a fantastic time wherever you are!
okay, like most things, i think the best way to improve in art is to just practice as close to everyday. doesn't have to be anything big, but even a five min sketch or practicing some fundamentals helps a LOT.
But besides just plain practicing, i found at a certain point i need to be conscious about what i'm practicing. analyzing my own art for my weak points / what i wanna improve on and then dedicating a week of studies to that thing. i think a big thing isn't just blindly repeating the same thing but actively trying to push yourself forwards.
Another thing is that I started really drawing because I just liked an anime series and wanted to draw them, which meant for a while I was just imitating a style without a good understanding of the fundamentals of art. so one thing i'd also recommend is making sure you do study the fundamentals. it's sorta like in calculus where sure you can take a derivative if you know the rules but you should also understand what a derivative is and where those rules come from. if that makes sense. while i was on my little "re-learning art" stint back in like 2023, i used this playlist!
But generally speaking, i think just trying to have fun with what you're drawing is the most important. i had spikes of improvement when i got super attached to a character and just drew that character everyday lol. at least for me i tended to improve more when i was actually having fun drawing. yeah :D
I guess to recap: 1. practicing often (even if it’s just something tiny) 2. make sure you’ve learned all your basic fundamentals (shape, value, perspective, etc). it’s boring but it helps in the long run. 3. analyze your art, figure out what specific thing you want to improve on, then study it. 4. and most importantly, enjoying what you’re drawing :) i always see the most improvement when i’m just genuinely enjoying the subjects i’m drawing.
i'm not the world's best artist by far but yeah :D as for the mods, i’m not really using a specific big mod pack, it's just a couple of mods from a pack my partner made for a separate server that I tweaked a lil. I also don't know a lottt about modding so uh.
i'm using 1.20.1 and fabric 0.16.9, here's a google drive folder with a download for my modrinth profile and also a google doc with a list of all the mods. But for the stuff you see often in my posts: i'm using an mc dungeons weapons mod for all the cool weapons and customizable elytras for the elytra colors & trim.
#ai's asks!#long post#purjopa plays#<- using my mc tag so ppl can look at the mods for future reference lol
