Historians Wouldn't Call Us Lovers
i know the prompt was "valiant" but you never specified the type of valiant, so i twisted it.
and just so you know, i spent most of my afternoon on this and had a dilemma, so please enjoy it!
Day 2: Valiant
Sophie, the princess of Havenfield, could hear trumpets coming from the castle walls.
She looked out the window and saw that a special traveling party had come back from the outskirts of the kingdom.
A smile grew on her face and she hitched up her skirts so she could descend the stairs to greet them before her father did.
“Do you think Mare and Linh are going to be there?” one of her best friends, Princess Biana of the Everglen kingdom, joined her as she passed one of the many hallways.
In some of the years prior, Biana had gotten to know two knights-in-training, Lady Marella of the Fluttermont estate and the exiled princess who was adopted, Lady Linh of Solreef, and had confided to Sophie that she was in love with both, but they were in a relationship with each other and Biana didn’t want to intrude.
It broke Sophie’s heart a little because she could sense that both knights had shared affection for Biana as well.
“I don’t care.” Fitz, Biana’s brother, remarked. “I want to see if-”
“If Dex went home, I know.”
“N- no I don’t!”
“He definitely did.” Biana whispered to Sophie and they both giggled.
Fitz had also fallen in love with one of Havenfield’s knights, and Sophie’s cousin, Dex.
Fitz wouldn’t admit it, but there was no denying how flustered he got when Dex was mentioned in the smallest way.
And, by the looks of it, Dex felt the same, but was better at covering it up by using his one-sided rivalry with the Crown Prince of Everglen.
“Well, a lot of them seemed to come back, so I’m positive.”
They came to a stop as they reached the doors that would open to the foyer.
Sophie could see the doubt on Biana’s face and patted her arm.
“We don’t have to see them if you don’t want to.”
“No, I do. Open the doors, please.”
The three royals hurried down the stairs as soon as the doors opened.
As soon as they passed the bottom step, the knights knelt in front of the princesses.
They were arranged according to rank and Sophie took pride in the fact that they were organized in a straight line. That must have been her lover, Stina’s, doing.
“You may rise and take off your helmets. I want to see the heroes that saved my kingdom.”
The knights did as she said and took off their helmets one by one.
When Linh and Marella undid their helmets, Biana ambushed them both with an embrace, causing all three girls to fall down, laughing.
Eventually, when Dex took his off, Sophie gave him a quick hug and went on her way.
When she looked over her shoulder, she could see Dex blushing and Fitz talking animatedly with his hands.
As Sophie moved to the left, she got worried each time someone took their helmets off and it wasn’t her lover.
She tried to stay positive, but she was starting to lose hope like she’d already lost her love.
When it came to the last knight, she held her breath as they lifted the helmet and… long blond hair spilled out of it instead of the coily brown hair she was used to.
The face behind the helmet was her lover, Stina’s, second-in-command, Keefe.
His face bore the familiar look of a soldier who lost a loved one to a war and she feared the worst; for Keefe was known for his jokes and smirks.
“Where- where is she?” Sophie whispered softly, willing herself not to cry.
“She- Stina insisted on staying back. She was convinced that she made a discovery about the dragon. I- I tried to go back, but she kicked me away as the cave collapsed. I’m sorry. I tried.”
Sophie could feel a tear sliding down her face.
No.
No.
It couldn’t be.
How could the gods let this happen to her?
She’d done nothing wrong.
How could the gods take her love away from her?
After everything she did-
Sophie let out a sob and collapsed onto Keefe.
-------
For the next two weeks, Sophie mourned her lover.
Her mother had tried cheering her up by saying that there was a possibility Stina was still alive.
It was no use.
She was inconsolable and didn’t leave her room.
Food and beverages were either tasteless to her or left cold.
A month later, a handmaid went in and woke her up.
"My lady, a suitor has come. They claim to have done something unachievable before. The king sent me here to get you ready.
Sophie could feel her head nod although she felt numb inside.
Her senses were numbed as she was led away to get ready.
Years ago, when she turned 15, her father had started a contest for her hand in marriage.
Ever since then, suitors had come far and wide in attempts to woo her, but none of them struck her like her friend from childhood, Stina.
Stina was the daughter of the Stable Masters and had made her ambition to be a knight obvious.
Originally, Sophie disliked Stina because she’d caught Stina saddling a horse in a way that made her think that the horse was being mistreated.
She’d come to her father and told him what she saw, but he simply laughed and told her that it wasn’t harmful to the horse in any way.
Sophie, being only 10 at the time, huffed and promised that she’d never ride a horse without its consent.
Her mother, who was sewing nearby, had laughed and accidentally pricked her finger on the needle.
When she was 12, Stina teased her for falling off a pony.
Sophie ignored her and got back on.
When she was 14, she became friends with Stina and they put their past behind them.
That was also the year Stina started training as a knight.
When she was 15, she found out she was in love.
When she was 16, they became lovers.
At 18, Stina had been bestowed the official title of knight.
But despite the fact that she had fallen in love with Stina and had made their love public, the contest would carry on until she was too old to marry or Stina proposed; which would never happen now that she was dead.
She was currently 21; there was plenty of time until she was illegible for marriage.
-------
As she was preparing to be presented, Sophie couldn’t remember anything. She felt numb and emotionless as she went down the stairs despite most princesses’ excitement at a suitor.
Her father smiled when he saw her.
“You’ll like this suitor.”
Sophie nodded with no emotion behind it.
She was brought into the throne room and seated on her throne.
A knight was brought in after a few minutes of sitting.
They had a familiar figure, that crest seemed familiar, and, wait, was that-
The knight kneeled in front of Sophie and Sophie had a weird feeling that this had happened before, but she forgot when.
“My lady.”
Sophie’s eyes furrowed as she tried to remember where she’d heard that voice before.
“Rise and take your helmet off, please.”
The knight rose, but didn’t take their helmet off.
“I can’t take my helmet off, my lady.”
“Why not?”
“I’m quite hideous.”
“That’s no excuse to deny my request.”
“I- I do believe that you would not like my appearance. People have fainted at the sight of it.”
“I have seen worse. Take. It. Off.”
They went back and forth over the helmet with the knight changing their argument every few sentences.
When the knight changed their argument once more, Sophie finally lost her temper and stood up.
She walked over to where the knight was standing and grabbed the sides of the helmet.
“Suitor or not, I am your future queen and I am determined to find out who managed to accomplish something that hasn’t been done before.”
Sophie started to pull the helmet up.
“Wait, I don’t recommend-”
But it was too late.
Sophie had pulled the helmet and-
It- it couldn’t be.
She had to be dreaming again.
Standing in front of her was Stina; the lover she thought was lost.
She burst into tears.
“What- but- how- Keefe said-”
Stina sighed and smiled.
“This was supposed to be dramatic, but I guess we’ll have to make do.”
Stina held out her arms and Sophie tackled her to the ground.
“Never do that again.”
“Do what?”
“Scare me like that.”
“It wasn’t intentional. I found out that the dragon was just lonely. She needed some company, so I gave it to her.”
“That’s so you.”
“She’s also flying above the castle, just in case you didn’t know.”
Sophie quickly pulled away.
“SHE WHAT?!”
“Don’t worry, she’s harmless! She wants to negotiate with you!”
Sophie sighed affectionately.
“One of these days, you’ll give me a heart attack.”
“Of course.”
Stina stood up and helped Sophie up, but then went back down on one knee.
Sophie could feel her face turn red and her heart beat even faster; a feat she didn’t know could happen.
“Stina, don’t you think it’s too soon? I mean, I just found out you’re alive and there’s a dragon circling our heads and oh my stars, YES.”
-------
On the day of their wedding, Sophie started panicking inside when she saw Stina in a wedding dress.
Stina had chosen to wear the dress when it had come to choosing wedding apparel and seemed to be bent on keeping it.
Now, Sophie was glad that Stina had fought to keep it, but was kind of regretting not getting a dress that gave her more room to breathe.
Stina’s cheeks turned pink seeing Sophie and gave a soft smile.
“You’re beautiful.”
“Not as much as you.” Sophie replied without thinking.
-------
Everything was perfect.
Sophie finally had things the way she wanted and needed.
Stina was beside her as her bride;
Biana had gathered up enough courage to confess to both Marella and Linh and all three of them were dating;
Fitz had finally asked Dex out and were in the over-sweetened beta stage of their relationship;
And even Keefe seemed to have gotten a crush on Linh’s brother, Tam, who had been visiting from their adopted country, Solreef, and they were busy arguing over hair, but Sophie could see that they were both smitten.
Really, there was nothing else the gods could do to make her happier.

here i go again with "big brother dick grayson strikes again" prompts.
thinking of Dick probably helping his siblings on their first dates and offering to take them to the location.
Dick to Jason: Hey, Little Wing. I know you can take one of your motorcycles, but let me take you. You can just focus on being pretty.
Jason: Shut up, Dick. But, are you sure? I don't know why my hands feel a bit numb-
Dick, takes Jason's hands on his to warm them up and untighten the nerves there: It's okay. I got you. You're okay. It's going to be okay. Don't stress yourself out.
Jason: I know I fucked up many times, Dick. I don't want.. I don't know what to do if I fuck this up.
Dick, brings Jason closer: Shh. You won't, Jay. You're very smart and strong, and so so caring and you don't even realize it it. Ask the kids at the Alley, they idolize you. Roy adores you and everything you do. He knows who you are. And trust me, I'm not that bitter anymore of one of my best friends dating my younger brother.
Jason smiles which warms Dick's heart, making him smile too.
Dick: Plus, we wouldn't want Ollie to think that a Wayne cannot dress up and be romantic right?
Jason grins this time.
Dick to Tim: Timmy, I have a great idea! I'll drive you there. I know you're tired from work already. Just let me know which restaurant then you can rest a bit when we travel there.
Tim: It's okay, Dick. You're also tired from your shift. I'll just let Kon know I'll be late for a few-
Dick: No, no. If you want to rest first, let him know, he'll understand. But I'll still take you.
Tim: But, Dick...
Dick: Nah-uh. I didn't drive you to prom, remember? Let me do this, Baby Bird. And for me to also look out for Lex, just in case he bothers Conner again. We don't want that happening in the middle of your date.
Tim, laughs: Well, Kon will just have to drag Lex's ass to space.
Dick laughs with him.
Dick to Cass: Aww, you look beautiful, Cass. So where you going? Where will you meet Steph?
Cass, fixing her necklace: By her house.
Dick: Great! I already know where that is. I'll drive you there. We don't want to ruin your beauty. I mean, that's totally impossible, but I want you to just relax before the date.
Cass, blushes: I can do it.
Dick: Of course, you can. But I want to. Pretty please, pretty please. I'm a little protective over my sister.
Cass, rolls her eyes fondly but smiles: Of course. Thank you.
Dick: You're most welcome. And tell Steph if she does something extreme like set some fireworks, tell her to lay off with those energy drinks she started on her diet.
Dick to Duke: Little D, Little D! Don't even try to say no cus maybe your brothers and sister have already told you, but this is kinda my tradition now. I'm taking you to your first date.
Duke: They did tell me. But, Dick.. I don't want to be a burden. Weren't you injured-
Dick: No, no. That was like last week. I'm good. As long as you're good with me to take you, right? Now, I don't want to be the burden.
Duke, smiles: Never.
Dick, smiles and gives Duke a side hug: Then you're never a burden too, Little D. A big bro has to look out for the younger ones. Plus, I can say that you dressing up nice comes from my influence.
Duke, chuckles: Who else am I looking up to, right?
Dick to Damian: Shush, Dami. I know you're dating a super, and he can come and get you without a minute to spare, but tell Jon I'll be taking you.
Damian: Richard, please. I'm already at the right age.
Dick, puts a hand on his little (not so anymore) brother's shoulder and he refuses not to tear up (he fails ofc): I know, you've grown up so much, Dami. So much, since I made you Robin. But please, it will make me really happy to do this. It will give me peace, in some way. It sounds ridiculous, but yes.
Damian, doesn't even try to hide the fond he has on his face: Alright, Richard. I'll let Jon know.
Dick: He's not taking you somewhere out of Gotham or Metropolis, right? Cus then we'll have to take the Batplane.
Damian, chuckles: It's in Metropolis, don't worry.
Dick: Phew. I was as nervous as the time I took Tim on his date.
so....
maybe after a few years on Dick and Wally's wedding day, Dick's younger siblings will be walking with him on the aisle by his side and Bruce, their Father, on his other side of course. and they're thankful that the aisle is wide enough to fit the whole Wayne kids. Dick is a crying mess and he hasn't even reached Wally yet by the end of the aisle. because he's genuinely happy to have his siblings take him to the love of his life this time.

Lucid Dreamer (2/2)
part 1
Gepard stalls almost a week before he finally goes out to the safehouse, and it takes him a couple days to find it because Sampo didn't have the time left to be wasn't super specific about the location. But he does find it.
It's pretty bare bones, really. Gepard knows that was probably to be expected, but… It feels crushing, when he realizes there are so few personal things here. It's nothing specific to Sampo. Just some food, some medical supplies. A cot and a heater and a lot of mismatched blankets. Nothing to remember someone by.
But he does find the letters, in a metal box stashed away under the bed.
There are two for him. Three for Natasha, and two for Seele. One for Hook, one for Serval, one for Pela, one for Bronya.
Bronya's is mostly business. They knew each other from the whole Stellaron incident, but not much beyond that, and the incoming catastrophe is a more pressing matter. Seele's is actually two copies of the same letter, and Gepard realizes why when Seele is so angry she rips the first one up without reading it. He gives her the copy a couple days later, and she slinks off without a word.
Pela seems completely normal after hers is delivered, but Gepard knows better than to trust that. The next day, he finds her asleep in bed with Serval, bottles abandoned on the floor, both their eye makeup smeared and running and Pela's glasses horribly smudged and crooked on her face. Serval doesn't read hers in front of him, but she's clingy with Gepard, Pela, and Lynx for quite a while after. She throws herself into her work a lot. She insists the heater from the safehouse is busted and she needs to keep it. It's too dangerous for use by someone who's not an engineer. Might burn their house down or something. Gepard doesn't argue.
Hook's letter is short, with easy to read words. The rest of it is actually a treasure map, and she and the moles spend the next several days running through the Underground, finding hidden candy and toys. Hook asks them when Sampo is coming back, because one of the marbles she found from his map looks green, just like his eyes, and she wants to give it to him. Natasha shoos Gepard out of the clinic before he can even begin to think of an answer.
Natasha refuses to let him see what's in her letters, which ok, fine, he'll respect that. He hears from Bronya who heard from Seele who heard from Natasha herself though that one of the letters was a map and the other a catalogue, with all of Sampo's hidden "warehouses." Gepard promptly marches himself back out to the frontlines, where he can turn a blind eye. If a ton of stolen goods suddenly enters the black market, and if the orphanage and the clinic suddenly have new supplies, well, technically that's none of his business.
Gepard goes to bed, curls up under mismatched blankets and closes his eyes.
He doesn't dream.
One of Gepard's letters was also business, like Bronya's and Natasha's. He and Bronya follow everything meticulously, down to the letter, because there has to be some good to get out of all this, there has to be. Gepard can't let it all be for nothing, it would bury him.
And so the catastrophe passes. Not without casualties, and not without a lot of damage and destruction. But Belobog survives.
And after that, time just kind of…goes on. Gepard has been a part of the Silvermanes since he was old enough to enlist. The Fragmentum had gotten so much worse in the years before Welt sealed the Stellaron. He knows the statistics, it is literally his and Pela's jobs to keep track. He knows when he sees a face everyday in the camps and then it's suddenly gone. He's not unfamiliar with things like grief and loss.
He still catches himself checking the trashcans and the supply crates and soldiers' footprints sometimes, though.
But there comes a night where Gepard goes to bed, holding the mismatched blankets to his face, and he dreams. And it's strange, it's off, it sticks with him. Sampo doesn't look the same. He's thinner. His muscles have atrophied. He looks like how Gepard has seen soldiers after months in the hospital.
The most unsettling difference is there's a scar across the left side of his head, Gepard can see it over his ear, peeking out past his hairline, carving towards his cheek. Sampo is always careful about his face. Gepard once saw him dodge a Fragmentum monster and literally let it cut across his neck just to keep his face clear. He wouldn't let that happen for nothing.
Their actions in the dream itself aren't new. Sampo seems tired, run down and worn out, but he announces his presence with aplomb by lobbing a bunch of smoke bombs off the rooftops and sending his soldiers scrambling. Same shit, different day.
The new part is what he says when Gepard chases him out to the edges of the camp, tackles him into the snow. Gepard pins him to the frozen ground to detain him and Sampo doesn't even fight it, just looks up at him like he's seeing sunrise for the first time in months.
"I'll be home in one week."

do you ship helena bertinelli with anyone? if yes, then which characters and why? what's your favorite helena ship? do you have any helena rarepairs? (i know you've talked about helena/steph and you're so right about it, it's a very interesting ship)
!!!! i have so many ships for my best girl ever yes oh my god thank you for asking.
my top pairing is probably Vic Sage/the Question. Vic is the basic answer, but man. i love them so much. no couple has matched each other's freak like that have. Justice League Unlimited is a great adaptation of Helena in general, but it also did a great adaptation of Helena and Vic's relationship. how he just dedicates himself to helping her with no expected return, but also wants to make sure she doesn't go too far in a hunt for vengeance that never ends for her. i think a lot of characters often want to change Helena or expect things out of her for their own needs, like the Batfam and the BoP. but Vic is one of the few people who just wants her to be better for her own good. when he tries to stop her from killing it's not because of his morals, it's because he doesn't want this crusade to consume her. and i just. man i think about them a lot. Helena rlly likes weird little men who give themselves wholly to her.
Zinda Blake/Lady Blackhawk is also a top ship for me. tbh i just like Zinda. but i do love how Helena and Zinda interact, being the more rough and tumble members of the BoP. they're both outsiders, in different ways. Helena is an outsider of the Batfam and Zinda is literally from a different time and an outsider to the current world. their friendship is so genuine and i think if Babs and Dinah can have. whatever homoerotic nonsense going on during BoP, then Zinda and Helena deserve some homoerotic nonsense too. as a treat.
if we're willing to count New-52 Helena, then i enjoy Helena/Dick/Tiger. i think Helena and Dick being a past relationship is really important in pre-Flashpoint for Helena's development, though i don't ship them as a serious couple beyond a fling. but in the New-52, i think this throuple be fun. Helena and Tiger respect each other as two very driven, no-nonsense agents and then well. they both clearly have some kind of thing for Dick. so it's fun finding the balance of how they could all work together romantically.
and ofc. it's a crime to mention Helena ships and not mention Renee Montoya/the Question. every time they interact it's really fucking gay. it's so gay that Kate Kane, Renee's own ex, assumed Helena and Renee were gay. i cannot be convinced against this ship. i genuinely think this ship should be canon. i mean. DC did tease us with this moment from an alternate universe and it's lived rent for me since. fucking criminal for us to only get one panel of what we could have if DC let Helena be a fruit in the main universe. being in love with Helena Bertinelli should be a right of passage for the Question mantle, i personally believe. if you asked me like. genuinely who i want to see Helena date in the current comics, Renee is my top pick. (i would say Vic but he's fucking dead and the New-52 butchered him so rip my mans-)
lois lane (2019) #10
besides those ships, just about every ship for Helena probably falls into the category of rarepair. like you said i've talked about my love for Helena/Steph before bc god. i think it should be a thing more people ship. once i finish the fic i'm writing about them i will convince others to like it.
i also think Helena/Cass could be fun. in a *lot* of ways Helena and Cass are narrative parallels to each other. Helena was a victim of her family being murdered at about the same age Cass was forced to be a murderer. Helena grows up to believe in lethal justice because of this, and Cass grows up to be staunchly against it. Cass' Batgirl suit was made *by* Helena. they both want to be protectors of the most vulnerable people. they balance each other out in a lot of ways and i think they should kiss about it.
also probably a rarepair, i think Helena/Lady Shiva is fun. their fight during Birds of Prey (2010) had... questionable moments for Helena's characterization, but i do love so much that Helena knocks Shiva off her feet and gains a deep respect from Shiva. like. Shiva gives her a nickname and shows her admiration. i would like to see fanfic where Shiva continues to be weirdly admirable of Helena and bothering her non-stop. they could be a fun fucked up toxic yuri moment. this is just. so gay to me.
birds of prey (2010) #6
my most rare Helena pair would probably be Helena Wayne, actually. but specifically Helena Wayne of JSA (2022). ever since, for some reason, it was made canon that the current Helena Wayne was named after Helena Bertinelli and took the name Huntress to honor her i *cannot* stop thinking about them meeting. because in-universe it makes *no* fucking sense for Bruce to name his kid after *Helena Bertinelli*, someone he's regularly at odds with and doesn't like. it's clearly an awkward explanation to try to make the whole two Huntress situation make sense. (it's almost as bad as Helena Wayne in the New-52 using Helena Bertinelli as an alias.) but because it's such an odd choice, i do think it could be fun for Helena Wayne, when she's back in time to see Bruce, to find Helena Bertinelli to get to know the woman she was named after and Helena Bertinelli just being. baffled by the idea of *Batman* naming his kid after her. it could be a fun fucked up moment.
my other super rarepair is Kara Zor-L/Power Girl. they had like. one meaningful interaction of JSA Classified and it's been PLAGUING me. something about when Power Girl doesn't remember her past and she's seeking a friend, she instinctively goes to find Huntress? but it's wrong bc this isn't *her* Huntress and neither of them understand why Power Girl would seek Helena out? god it's so good. i'm always a big fan of ships where one person in the ship is *so* obviously using the other person as a replacement for someone they lost and they both know it. it's such a doomed angsty thing where you could play with Helena actually really liking Kara, but knowing that she's just a replacement for Kara's Helena Wayne. good fucked up shit man.
and lastly: i really ship her with Dawn Granger/Dove. there's no canon basis for this, they didn't have a ton of interactions even when they were both on the BoP. but there's a very kind innocence to Dawn that contrasts Helena's violence really well. and i do love a ship with a corruption kink vibe to it. let Helena corrupt Dawn. i could write such fucked up porn about these two.

I've been thinking about Ochako's role in the story, and thinking about how underdeveloped she was compared to Izuku, Shoto or Katsuki's, which got me thinking about it and since the manga's in its final arc and there's nothing to lose, why the heck not.
If Izuku is set up as someone born with "nothing", Shoto as born with "everything" and Katsuki as someone who was born loved, why not set Ochako as someone who wanted to give back love? It'd be a nice four-way connection/foil, considering she should've been set up as one of the main players of BNHA.
Ochako foiling Shoto alongside Izuku and Katsuki as born and raised in a loving environment, and how they've responded in comparison to his broken family unit - since she's the poorest classmates with humble beginnings and he's the son of a top 10 hero;
Ochako foiling Izuku alongside Shoto and Katsuki as born with something he "lacks" in comparison - which is both opportunity his Quirkless background wouldn't give and his shattered sense of self worth, compared to her who would be okay with being anything else but decided to be a hero for the money she could provide for her family;
Ochako foiling Katsuki alongside Izuku and Shoto as someone who started off as a hero who wants to help others in contrast to his motivation to be a hero who never loses a battle, with her sharing that same competitive streak and fighting edge while ultimately focusing on helping others before her. (Which is something Izuku does fill in the story but it could've worked imo)
This is partly because I want to imagine if she was part of the Endeavor Internship Arc, she'd benefit from forming a deep bond with the main deuteragonists on some level, if only to take her out of the preconceived notion she's there to be Izuku's love interest first and foremost- removing that aspect or using that expectation she's there to revolve around him to make her "one of the boys", give her the rotating spotlight a bit more.
But also it'd be a nice setup as as she could compare her background to Shoto and reflect on how she perceived the ideal hero vs. how flawed they can actually be, and her reason to be there could've been she's looking for a way to be strong in a way that can properly help others after Sir Nighteye's death. Imagine the bond they'd have if they were allowed to interact with each other the same way they do with Izuku and Tenya.
The less wealthy classmate with a loving and supportive family and the most wealthy and well-known classmate with a broken and dysfunctional family, two of Izuku's closer friends being inspired by him and trying to break away from the labels others pushed on them and be their own people? One with envy for a villain who reminds her of feelings she wanted to bottle up and the other whose villain's anger mirrored his former to his consumed his family for years? And yet both coming out of their experiences wanting to extend their hands to Himiko and Touya, to start anew and ease that pain?
And with the Paranormal Liberation Front Arc, you could still split her up but using that as a build up, with her and Shoto following Izuku and Katsuki, but she sees people in need of saving and decides to help others instead; make her confrontation with Himiko happen before Dabi's Dance; then let her join the battlefield shakened after spotting Gigantomachia from a distance. (Would it be cluttered? A little, but that arc was already somewhat cluttered, coming from someone who loves that arc A Lot.)
And to avoid her from being too OP, one could make her try to fight but still thinking of Himiko's tears while using her grappling hooks or Zero Gravity on debris to stop Gigantomachia- it could've foreshadow the conflicting emotions she feels are allowing her to surpass her own limits there and come back full force during her fight with Himiko later on, similar to Katsuki with his Cluster technique or Shoto developing Phosphor.
And imagine her worldview shattering even more from finding out a hero would fall so deep into obsession into being the greatest, he lost sight it what it means to be a hero and it created his own villain. Wouldn't that push her even further to try and be a hero the others can rely on, and later, the one Himiko needed? After all, if Ochako and Himiko already parallel, let's use the love thematics; they both love passionately, and unlike Himiko, Ochako didn't give up on a better world for everyone- she just realized what everyone entails.
Just thoughts from someone who'd love to see Ochako breaking out of that label of "love interest"- love and passion are a defining part of her, but her crush shouldn't be her defined role, the story itself has realized that. But it could've realized a lot sooner. It probably wouldn't have removed the fandom's perception of her, but it would've helped her in the long run, especially when the merch set her up as even more of an protagonist, and to an extent it feels like the fans want to believe she was planned to be like that when we know Horikoshi was playing around with her character until he finally settled on what to do with Himiko and wrote Ochako around it.
