Sam was leaning against the doorframe of Becca’s room, smiling from ear to ear. His eyes were lit up, watching the boy across the room. Sam couldn’t believe this scene was real, he couldn’t believe that this was his life. Grizz was swaying Eden about, bobbing her up and down ever so slightly. She was cooing slightly, but only loud enough for Grizz to hear. Sam had agreed to babysit Eden whilst Becca was visiting Kelly. He wasn’t sure for what, the two of them had gotten closer the past few weeks. Becca wouldn’t tell Sam, like so many things, but Sam didn’t want to probe or push. Luckily for him, the absence of Becca meant that Sam would be able to witness this sight. Eden being cradled in Grizz’s arms, like it was the most natural thing in the world. Sam had been watching the two of them for a while, Grizz unaware that he was being watched. He didn’t want to disturb them, not quite yet.
“You’re good with her, better than me.” Sam started to move towards the two, almost tiptoeing towards his boyfriend. Grizz turned around slowly, giving Sam a small smile.
“I doubt that Sam.” Shaking his head, Grizz turned his attention back to Eden.
“I’m serious. She loves you.” Sam signed this, putting emphasis on the sign for ‘love’.
“Maybe she just has good taste.” Grizz shrugged, before checking Eden was settled and placed her back into her cot. He watched her for a moment until she was still again and turned back to Sam leading him to perch on the edge of Becca’s bed.
“You had any practice?” Sam signed this quickly, knowing that Grizz would have no trouble understanding him. His sign language had got so good recently, Sam wouldn’t be surprised if he was better than he was now.
“Pfft, no!” Shaking his head, Grizz stretched himself out, clearly feeling a little tired from the babysitting. Before New Ham, babies weren’t even on Grizz’s radar. Before Sam, they weren’t on his radar. Sam had changed him. Not for good but not for bad either.
“You...urm, your parents didn’t want any more kids?” Sam’s childhood wasn’t exactly easy, having Campbell as an older brother made sure of that. Sam could barely remember a time when they did get a long, Campbell always seemed resentful of Sam. He hated him, that was plain as day. But it wasn’t like he had a terrible childhood. His parents loved him, always tried their best, supported him – even if they did ignore a lot of the signs from Campbell. Maybe it was jealously with Campbell, he was the oldest and then Sam came along, took away all of the attention. It was worse when Sam lost his hearing, even more attention was given to Sam. Attention that was taken away from Campbell.
“Wha-I guess, yeah. I think my mum would have liked one. But…I was fine on my own. It was easier not to I guess.” Grizz never really thought about having siblings, maybe he wouldn’t have mind a brother or sister but that wasn’t really on his radar. What he said was right though, it was just easier only being Grizz. Maybe his mum would have liked some more kids though, she was so good with kids. But with Grizz’s dad? Grizz couldn’t think of anything worse.
“You dad.” Sam nodded, understanding why Grizz never had any siblings. It was safe to say that Grizz’s dad wouldn’t have welcomed another addition to their little family. Thinking about Grizz’s childhood upset Sam, even without knowing the whole truth. It made him realise how lucky he was with his parents. They were a constant support, always there for him, as much as they could be. Maybe they should have done more for Campbell. Maybe they should have done. But there was no point wallowing over it now. They were gone and Sam just had to do better for Eden.
“Yeah, my dad.” Grizz repeated, avoiding Sam’s eyes. He clearly didn’t want to think about that any longer than he needed to. Maybe Sam shouldn’t have mentioned it, maybe it was still quite raw. Grizz didn’t really speak about his family, especially his dad. Sam had thought they’d reached a point where they could be completely honest with each other. But maybe some things were just too hard to talk about. Sam had to understand that.
Sam thought for a moment, he wondered whether he should steer the conversation in a certain direction. He knew he probably wouldn’t have another chance, especially as any time he had tried to mention it, Grizz had managed to avoid the question and change the subject. “I guess you could say you already had brothers.”
“Sam?” Looking quite bewildered, Grizz turned to Sam trying to gage what he was saying. Maybe it was a bit of stretch, Sam thought afterwards, but he had to try, right?
“Like Luke…” There, he’d done it. Sam wasn’t scared of what Grizz’s reaction might be, but he was wary of upsetting him. He didn’t want to upset Grizz, he never wanted to hurt him again, especially after last time. But this was important, and they needed to talk about it.
“Sam, not this again.” Grizz sighed, crossing his legs. He was tired of Sam trying to mention Luke in almost every conversation they had. He didn’t want to talk about Luke, he didn’t want to think about Luke. It was easier just to ignore it all, be in his own little bubble with Sam. That’s what he wanted. Although he doubted, he would be able to ignore it all for much longer. Things were getting worse. And it probably wasn’t going to stop there.
“Grizz, just listen-“
“No!” Grizz shouted out louder than he had expected, surprising himself. Eden, who had been completely silent up until this point, started to cry quite loudly. Realising what he had done, Grizz rushed over to Eden’s cot before Sam had even realised that Eden had woken up. “Oh shit, sshh shh.” Cradling her so delicately, Grizz managed to quiet her down, although Sam doubted Eden would go back to sleep now. “I shouldn’t swear in front of her, should I?”
Sam shrugged, walking over to where Grizz was holding Eden, desperately trying to get her back to sleep. “She doesn’t understand you.” it was true, he doubted Eden understood a word anyone said. Becca had started to attempt to teach Eden simple words or even sounds but hadn’t been successful yet. They’d get there eventually, but for now it was easier for Eden to just make those strange sounds. She was still only a few months old. Sam had read in one of the baby books Gordie had found for him after Eden had been born, that babies start to talk around ten months old, so there was still time. There was just a little nagging feeling at the back of Sam’s brain that for some reason Eden wouldn’t talk.
“You gonna teach her to sign?” Still cradling Eden, bobbing her up and down, Grizz looked directly at Sam when he spoke, knowing he couldn’t sign whilst holding Eden. Grizz had been trying his best to sign more than talk with Sam, which Sam had appreciated but he hadn’t expected it. Grizz enjoyed learning ASL, he wished he had done it sooner.
“It’s a bit early for that, she hasn’t even said her first word yet.” Sam moved to play with Eden, now cooing quietly, she grabbed his index finger with her tiny hand, squeezing it. He sometimes forgot how tiny she really was, she was growing every day, that was true, but she was still so small. So delicate.
“I know what it’s gonna be.”
“Oh yeah?”
“Grizz, obviously.” Grizz couldn’t help but give Sam a cheesey grin, to which the boy beside him shook his head. He loved it when Sam did that, when he almost managed to not smile or laugh at Grizz. He was pretty good at it most of the time, but sometimes he let it slip.
“How so?”
“You said she loves me. So I figure, if I just keep repeating my name, it’ll go in her head.”
“Think it’ll work?”
“Yeah. That, or I guess I’ll just keep you around. You say my name enough.”
“You’re an idiot.” Sam didn’t smile at Grizz this time, but that little twinkle in his eye that always appeared whenever he was around Grizz decided to make an appearance. He just couldn’t help it. Sometimes Sam wondered what he had done to ever be this happy. It odd, when he thought back to when the fear and worry was rampant throughout New Ham. That seemed like another world, another century, just so far away. Not that there wasn’t still fear and worry, but not so much for Sam. Not in this moment.
“But you love it.” Grizz mused as he placed Eden back in her crib once again. This time, Sam was sure she wouldn’t wake back up. She was too settled now.
“Maybe.” Sam shrugged, giving Grizz a devilish smile. “See, she never goes down that quickly with me.”
“Well-“
“It’s like she knows.” Sam avoided Grizz eyes when these words escaped his mouth. He was just thinking aloud, really. But this had been in his mind for a while. Clearly, she didn’t know, Eden was just a baby. But that self-doubt, that feeling of a lie, Sam just couldn’t shake it.
“What do you mean?” Confused, Grizz shook his head, not understanding. Sam raised his eyebrows at Grizz, waiting for the pin to drop. It soon did, to which Grizz, clearly embarrassed, started to go red. “Oh.” He hadn’t thought about Eden’s parentage much, but thinking about it in that moment, he supposed it had been on Sam’s mind constantly. Grizz couldn’t really imagine how he’d react. He didn’t know if he would have made the same choices as Sam, but he couldn’t judge him for it.
“Yeah.” Sam nodded slowly, he thought it was obvious what he was trying to say. It wasn’t as if he had bored Grizz to death with his tales of woes, but Grizz knew Sam wasn’t her dad. He must have had some idea what Sam was feeling, what was going through his mind.
“She’s a baby, Sam. And that doesn’t matter. You’re her dad, in every other way, right?”
“I don’t know…”
Knowing it wouldn’t be a good idea to keeping going over this, Grizz quickly changed the subject. “Becca still hasn’t told you?” Grizz realised the question seemed a little more intrusive than he meant it to be. He couldn’t blame Becca for not wanting anyone to know; teenage moms always got judged and that wasn’t fair. But he understood how hard it was for Sam, too. Becoming a father to a kid whose father could be living just across the street.
“I don’t want to know. That’s her business. But…” It wasn’t fair for Sam to probe or push Becca. He had to no right to do that. He couldn’t demand to know, and he didn’t want to do that. If Becca was going to tell Sam, she would, and only when she was ready.
“I get it.”
“It’s stupid, it’s selfish.”
“No…Sam, you’re not either of those things.” Grizz would never have described Sam using either of those words, quite the opposite. “I don’t think that. Becca doesn’t nor does Eden.”
That made Sam smile, rolling his eyes at how giddy he felt whenever he was in Grizz’s company. Grizz could always make things seem better, whenever Sam was feeling down. It would probably take some more time for Sam to really believe what Grizz was saying. But he appreciated it. He appreciated him. His boyfriend. That word, it still seemed strange that Sam had a boyfriend. That his boyfriend was Grizz. Sam moved to give Grizz a small peck on the lips, not expecting anything in return. He just wanted Grizz to know how important he was to him, how much he appreciated him. No, not appreciated him. He did, he loved him. He loved Grizz.
“I saw, Helena, yesterday.”
“Sam…” This time, Grizz didn’t shout, he didn’t raise his voice. He spoke softly and signed Sam’s name slowly. Maybe he was tired of Sam constantly bringing the situation up or maybe he was coming round to the idea.
“She wasn’t too happy, she’s been struggling.” Sam took this as a good sign and carried on, not wanting to waste the moment. Now, this wasn’t a lie. Sam had seen Helena. He saw her only a few days ago when Sam had taken himself for a walk. Becca was making lunch for Eden and Sam saw it as a good opportunity to get some air and some space. The past few weeks had been a lot and Sam just needed some time alone. He was walking up near Helena’s house when he saw her, outside, sitting on her porch. It was true that she didn’t look too good, she had clearly been crying. They only spoke for a few minutes, but that was enough time for Sam to know he needed to persuade Grizz. Grizz was the answer.
“So has Luke.” Grizz huffed, as if he was ready to argue but didn’t say or do anything. He just listened. “I know you don’t want to talk about it, but you should talk to him.”
“Why should I? He hasn’t come to me.” Grizz looked hurt, it was clear to Sam that they couldn’t ignore what had happened forever. It was clear to Sam that Grizz was struggling, hurting because of everything. It wasn’t fair on Grizz, it wasn’t fair on Sam or even Luke. Something had to be done. Grizz, who was now completely avoiding Sam’s eye and fiddling with his loose shoelace, was clearly angry about the situation. Maybe he was angry at Sam for constantly mentioning it, but if Sam didn’t, it would never be solved.
“It’s stupid and you know it. Don’t do something you’ll regret.” Sam hadn’t meant to sound so harsh, but the sentiment was there. What Luke had done was shitty, it was awful, but this couldn’t go on forever. For the sake of everyone. “Please. You know it’s right.” Sam was pleading with Grizz now, and he couldn’t ignore that. He knew that.
“Okay, okay, You don’t need to beg, Sam. I get it.”
“You can stubborn when you want to be.”
“And you can be persistent when you want.” Grizz laughed, a genuine laugh. Sam loved it when he laughed, when his face lit up, when he smiled. But it didn’t last long, his smile soon turned into a frown.  “But I can’t, Sam. I can’t do it.”
“Why?”
A cry escaped from Eden’s cot, Grizz noticed and started to move. “I thought she’d stay asleep.”
Sighing and wishing she could have stayed quiet for even a minute more. “I’ll go.” Sam moves over to comfort her before Grizz could avoid this conversation any more than he was trying to.
“You should be the bigger person. You’re not talking to him now; you’re avoiding him and almost everyone else apart from us. What do you have to lose?” Sam signed this before picking Eden up, cradling her slowly in his arms. Grizz was way better than Sam at this, it just came naturally to him. For Sam, not so much.
Grizz didn’t want to argue with Sam, not anymore. He knew Sam was right, even if he didn’t quite want to admit it. And he missed Luke, he could say that at least. Things weren’t the same without him. He was still angry, still confused. He didn’t like to think about what had happened. But the more time passed, the less he could ignore it. “Okay, okay… fine. I’ll talk to him.”
“Now?”
“Well, not now. I’m doing a very important job.” Grizz slowly walked up to the two standing by the crib. He loved to watch Sam with Eden. He knew Sam found it hard sometimes, he understood the importance and responsibility but also the burden. Not that Sam would ever truly admit that, not even to Grizz.
“Oh, and what’s that?”
“Becoming Eden’s favourite person.” Grizz moved his hand to delicately stroke Eden’s cheek, a little hiccup appeared from her mouth which made both Sam and Grizz smile.
“Okay, but after, yes?” Sam moved back, Eden still in his arms, giving Grizz a meaningful look. He trusted Grizz, he’d trust Grizz with anything, but he just needed to hear him to say the words.
“Yes, Sam, after. I promise.” Grizz gave Sam a small smile, one that meant so much more than the two realised. Sam had Grizz wrapped around his little finger, but that didn’t bother Grizz one bit. Not at all.

Some Advice For People Leaving Comments on Fanfics:
“I liked your fic”
Nice, but basic and easy to overlook
Doesn’t compel the author to do anything other than take the compliment
Sounds like you might be a bot (ew)
“I am going to eat your floorboards!”
Unique and attention grabbing
Makes me second guess whether I should have bought that insurance
Sounds like you might be a termite (how did a termite learn to type????)

sneak peek...
"you really think i would make friends with a mudblood?" he sneered, upper lip curling up in disgust as you shrank backwards, his friends smirking at your heartbroken expression.
"i-"
"filthy mudblood."
two words snarled at you. two words that broke your fragile glass heart as you crumpled, leaving you heartbroken and hurt. two words that completely destroyed whatever friendship the two of you had managed to build up, leaving only ruin in it's wake.

"fuck you" is basic. "i hope there's a major character death in your favorite ao3 fanfic after 56 chapters and 148k words" is smart. it's possible. it's terrifying.

Oh crap. Tim was coming towards him again. Danny squeezed between and behind various other gala attendees in his effort to escape Mr. I-Just-Want-To-Talk for the fourth gala in a row. What was Mr. Drakes problem? Danny honestly didn't know but between running DalvCo which- Danny had rebranded into a new company with a space themed name and slogan- and keeping up with schoolwork and his social life he had little energy left to deal with the Wayne Enterprises CEO
Danny saw a blue suit in the crowd ahead of him and let his shoulders sage in relief. Ever since he inherited Vlads company Mr. Kord had taken him under his wing. He had told him everything about how his parents were mad scientists and how his godfather, Vlad was a supervillian who had become creepily obsessed with him after comparing him frequently to his mother who he had been romantically obsessed with for twenty years.
Danny hadn't told him everything, no one but his friends and sisters knew about his ghost half. But Mr. Kord was the first and only adult he felt he could confide in.
Danny slid in between him and his kinda/maybe boyfriend Michael Carter, both of whom gave him big smiles and welcomed him warmly. Danny looked back at Tim who was glaring at him half heartedly. There was no way the other teen was going to come try to drag him off. Not with how Mr. Kord had scolded him at the last gala.
----
Aka Vlad manages to kill Jack but also accidentally kills Maddie too.
Vlad dies due to reasons and the bats are convinced that Danny did it. Also DalvCo had been involved with countless illegal things and is essentially built on crime (which is one of the reasons Danny needed help so badly) and Ted Kord (Blue Beetle) helped him gain control over the situation after finding Danny crying in a hidden area at a gala and Michael Carter (Booster Gold) has taken up being a "fun uncle" to Danny whenever he gets too overwhelmed.
Tim is either trying to get close to Danny to prove that he's innocent or is just as convinced of his evilness as the others (the second one sounds more fun) also Batman hasn't had his identity exposed to the JL so they don't know who Tim or the other bats are.
Did Vlad die in whatever scheme he made to kill Jack? Did Danny go into a Pit Rage apon finding out Vlad killed his parents and kill him in revenge? Did Vlad fake his death in another hair brainded scheme to get to Danny?
In the meantime Danny is not only making his new business survive, but thrive as well with branches opening up in various cities all over North America and soon one in London.

“secret admirer” - dead poets society (final)
summary: y/n confronts their poet (lightly inspired by this post)
pairing: (not-so) anonymous!dead poet x reader
word count: 536
previous
Tumblr media
Y/N felt like they were having an out of body experience—maybe they were dreaming? That seemed like the most reasonable explanation for a night like that.
They kept waiting for the moment where they shot awake in their dorm room, but it had yet to come.
No, this was real, and it was more beautiful than they ever could have imagined.
It was also over much faster than they would have liked. Y/N and Charlie bounced glances back and forth all throughout Neil’s monologue and the following final words from the poets. They were the last two to exit the cave.
Y/N spoke up once there was some distance between them and the rest of the poets, “So it was you this entire time?”
“That it was,” Charlie grinned as he shoved his hands in his pockets.
“God, you’re so annoying.”
“What?” Charlie laughed out.
“It’s such a you move to be waxing poetic to me in secret while being an absolute terror in person.”
“Well, I had to get through to you somehow.”
Y/N was having a difficult time being annoyed at the grinning boy.
“You could have tried talking to me like a normal person—you know, the old-fashioned way of doing things.”
I thought this was the old-fashioned way?” the grin still hadn’t left Charlie’s face, and the light look in his eyes made Y/N’s stomach flutter, “Besides, you wouldn’t have had any of it.”
“Who said I’m having any of it now?”
“Well, you’re here, and you’re actually having a conversation with me without trying to run in the opposite direction,” he stopped walking and faced Y/N, “I’d say that’s a start.”
“Maybe so,” Y/N shrugged and couldn’t help the smile spreading across their face.
Charlie’s features softened, “I liked your poem, by the way…not as good as mine, but it’s the thought that counts.”
“You’re insufferable,” Y/N laughed.
“But you’re suffering me anyway.”
The pair stood in silence for a beat, exchanging soft smiles and savoring the moment.
“So, where do we go from here,” Y/N inquired, “what’s your master plan, Romeo?”
“We go out on a couple dates, get married, grow old together—you know, the usual.”
Y/N rolled their eyes as their cheeks flushed, “would it kill you to be serious for five seconds?”
“Maybe,” Charlie grinned as he entwined his hand in Y/N’s, “I’d really like to kiss you.”
“Then kiss me, Dalton.”
And so he did, and it was perfect.
That is, until the cheering and wolf whistles began from up ahead.
Y/N was impossibly red as Charlie pulled them along with him back to the poets, a mixture of pride and adoration on his face as he looked at them.
“Really, Dalton? We leave you alone with an individual for one minute and you’re already putting the moves on them?” Knox teased the boy.
“Long con, boys,” Charlie wrapped his arm around Y/N’s shoulders, “works every time.”
“Have I mentioned that you’re insufferable?”
Charlie just smirked and leaned in for another short kiss. Sounds of mock disgust fell upon deaf ears.
Meeks was right, Y/N thought, this night really did wonders for my spirit.
~~~
a/n: keeping it short and sweet for the finale—thanks for all the love on this story <3
ATTENTION DPS FANS: i’m rewriting the Dead Poets Society book right now! I just finished the first scene in the chapel with the four pillars and where Neil and Todd talk to Nolan with their parents. I’m taking script from the actual movie and book but improvising it. This will transcend the book, END HAPPILY (no neil death, no fired keating, no expelled charlie), and go on through their sophomore, junior, and senior years because I want this to be very long! It will be Neil/Todd-centric with ships of temporary Knox/Chris, endgame Knox/Charlie, Ginny/Chris, and Meeks/Pitts. It is on ao3 under @/mqddiegh.
todd is a shy kisser. and neil loves it.
the small intake of breath followed by the tentative meeting of their lips. neil can hardly stop himself from smiling into it. and the way todd melts into it makes him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
and don't even get him started on the look todd gives him. delicate doe eyes, poetry personified in a gaze alone. how he wished he could write about everything he saw in his eyes. so bright and clear, like the ocean. he'd swim in them if he could.. no, no. that sounds cheesy. scratch that. todd's better at describing beauty than he is.
he'll settle for observing such perfection. running his thumb along a plush lip, drawing out a shaking breath before going back in for another kiss. one not quite as shy. comforting. sweet. soft. and he won't be able to hold back his smile this time, pulling away with a small chuckle to regain his composure.
"neil," todd whines. "we only have a minute or two until we have to go.. c'mon.."
"i know, i know. i'm sorry." neil laughs again, not able to wipe the smile off of his face.
todd returns the smile, resting his head against neil's shoulder. ".. you know, for an actor, you're not good at keeping your emotions in check."
"oh, and you do?" neil drags his fingers through a few blond strands of hair. "what do you know about acting?"
"i'd say i'm pretty damn good. i keep myself composed whenever i'm around you."
"you can't say stuff like that and expect me not to kiss you again."
todd lifts his head up. "well? what're you waiting for?"
neil fixes his face and kisses him again. a little rougher. lips part and breath is stolen. when they pull away to breathe, both panting, he flashes that grin of his again. "now who's the bad actor?"
ORLANDO (FIRST KISS)
- charlie, your best friend, attempts to set you up with the crush he is convinced you have. (charlie dalton x gn!reader, includes some neil being a good friend, slight angst into fluff, happy au, no beta we die like real men)
Tumblr media
word count: 2,647
a/n - i love charlie so much oh my god 😭 hopefully there’s more to come with him! i’m planning a very long fic for him, hopefully similar in feeling to my neil fic “the last time” :) this is slightly inspired by the song “orlando” by leith ross so pls check them out!!
Tumblr media
It’s 1:32 AM on a Friday night (Saturday, technically, but that rarely seems to matter), and Charlie Dalton is refusing to let you sleep.
“You’ve got to tell me. I swear, cross my heart, I won’t tell a soul.” He begs.
Charlie has been your best friend for god knows how long. You met so long ago that you don’t even remember how or why; it just was. That’s exactly what your relationship is. There’s really no rhyme or reason, considering you would detest anyone else with his personality, but you’re friends anyways, and you love him with all your heart. Opposites attract, you suppose. You don’t know for sure. Most days, including today, he is extremely and desperately annoying.
You slump down onto his bed, covering your eyes with your hands. He’s gotten it into his mind that you have a crush, and he won’t rest until he finds out who it is. Lucky you.
“Charlie, it’s no one.” You groan, peeking past your fingers to stare at him with a cross expression. “Even if I did like someone, I wouldn’t tell you.”
The problem is, you do like someone, and he’s sitting right in front of you with messy hair and pajama pants.
Your feelings for him, just like your meeting, are so far buried in the past that you couldn’t dig them up with an excavator. One day, you suppose, you just started to fall in love with him. He’s annoying and rich and a total smart-ass, but you love him. In some soft, quiet ways, he is the kindest boy you’ve ever met.
He notices when you get cut off mid-conversation or when you’re just a little too uncomfortable to talk to the person in front of you. He knows you like the back of his hand and puts his knowledge to use without ever having to ask, like how he always gets you exactly what you want on your birthday. He’s smart and energized and a breath of fresh air, no matter how stale the room is. And, of course, though you would rarely tell him, he is dashingly handsome.
He sits up straighter and begins listing every boy you’ve ever come in contact with. “Meeks? You always did like his type. Ooh, or Pitts? He’s a pitiful lady-killer. Todd is another good choice. Knox has got his thing with Chris, so you probably wouldn’t like him unless you’re into getting your heart broken.” He stops his ranting to take a breath, then continues on. “You cannot like Cameron because if you do, I won’t ever talk to you again. It isn’t Cameron, right?”
You scoff. “I don’t have a crush. Stop trying to guess a person that doesn’t exist.”
“Neil?” He questions. You hesitate just a bit before waving away his suggestion. Neil is a very good friend of both yours and his, and truthfully, he would definitely be the best boyfriend out of all of them. Despite that, you do not love him like you love Charlie. Not even close.
He catches on to your hesitation with scary accuracy. The tilt of your head, the twitch of your hand, the way the corners of your mouth almost curved up into a smile. Charlie feels his heart drop. “Oh my god, it’s Neil. Of course it’s Neil, it’s always Neil! You like Neil.” Neil is, unbeknownst to him, a complete catch. It makes sense that you would like him. After all, he’s kind, outgoing, and a whole lot nicer than Charlie is. That doesn’t make it hurt any less.
Like you, Charlie doesn’t exactly know when you came into his life. Maybe a stuffy dinner party or a prep event- all that matters to him is that you’re here now, and he loves you. He does, however, know when he started loving you.
It was seventh grade at a school dance, and you had decided to go with a boy he barely knew. When the boy asked you out with a pocketed rose and a shy smile, Charlie felt his blood boiling. How dare he, he thought, take you away from him? You’re his best friend. He would have bought you an entire flower shop had you said the word.
Seeing you waltz with him in your pretty outfit, as awkward and stiff as you both were, was too much for him to bear. Charlie left early, prompting you to follow him. The scene that resulted was one you both tried heavily to erase.
“Charlie, what’s wrong?” You panted, hurrying after him as fast as your pinchy shoes would allow. “Charlie. Charlie! Talk to me.”
“It’s nothing. Just go away.” He sniffled. You turned the corner to see him sitting on a curb, tears tracking down his face. If you knew one thing about Charlie Dalton, it was that he hated crying. You sat down next to him, but he turned to face the trees to his left.
“What happened?” You asked gently. How he despised your gentle care.
“I hate you. Go away.” His voice broke in the middle of his sentence. “I never want to see you again.”
Something in you snapped in that moment, something angry and sad all at once. He was hurting, and you loathed it, but Charlie always got what he wanted in the end.
You stood up and left, muttering a “sorry” over your shoulder.
He tried to avoid you for a while after that, but as with all fated things, he couldn’t stay away for long. He went back to you without a hint of apology, and you took him. Begrudgingly, you just couldn’t be without your best friend for very long.
He knew he loved you then, and that fact hasn’t changed in the present.
“I don’t like Neil.” You insist. “Trust me.”
Charlie stands to pace around his room, talking with his hands as per usual. “Y’know, you always seem smiley around him. I should’ve seen it coming, really. The way you talk to him can’t be platonic.” You sigh from the bed, and Charlie flops down beside you. You can feel the heat radiating from his skin. It’s pleasant, like a ray of sun on a cold day. You instinctively move closer to him as he opens his mouth. “I could probably get you a date with him. Not that you couldn’t do it yourself, but,” he pauses, a hint of hurt humor in his eyes, “I could be your wingman.”
He doesn’t want to be. He really doesn’t want to be, but what can he do? He would rather see you happy with Neil than miserable with no one. Despite how much he hates it, he’s gotten over most of his prepubescent jealousy. He knows deep down in the very achingly sad part of him that you don’t love him. At least, not the way he loves you.
You’re facing him, your nose inches away from his chest as your heart pounds in yours. He really wants you to get with Neil. Well, if that’s how he feels, you don’t feel the need to reject the offer. Maybe this is just the thing you need. What’s the point in pining after him when he’s actively trying to set you up with his second best friend?
“Yeah. That… I would like that.” Charlie’s heart crumbles in his chest.
“Then I’ll get right on it.” He grins. Behind the smile, sadness is swimming in his eyes, but you don’t bother to look at them.
It’s winter break, one of Charlie’s favorite times of the year, but he doesn’t think he’s ever felt this sad before.
By the time the next weekend rolled around, you had almost forgotten about Charlie’s proposed setup. But, on this Saturday when you’re cozy in your room, Neil comes knocking at your door.
You open the door, slightly surprised. He’s holding a bouquet of flowers with a small grin on his face. They’re your favorite flowers.
“Hi.” He says. His voice is breathless.
You raise your eyebrows, but for some reason, you can’t help but smile. Neil is standing in your doorway, and you feel like you know what he’s going to ask. “Hey.”
“Do you want to go on a date with me?” He implores, holding the bouquet out for you to take. “It doesn’t have to be right now, but… I’m ready if you are.” He’s dressed in a crisp suit, and if you’re being honest, you’d hate to make him go home without putting it to use.
You laugh lightly, the feeling bubbling out of your stomach. “Yeah, I’d love that. Just let me get ready and I’ll be out in ten minutes.”
Two days prior to Saturday, Charlie proposed a dead poets town trip. They were milling around, bouncing from shop to shop before Charlie clasped Neil on the shoulder.
“What do you think about Y/N?”
Neil turned, confused. “What do you mean?”
There was a smirk on Charlie’s face, but he hesitated like he didn’t actually want to say the words he was about to say. “I mean, I think you two would be a pretty cute couple.”
Neil let out a huff of air, almost in disbelief. “You’ve been in love with them since seventh grade, Nuwanda. Don’t try to act like you aren’t.”
Charlie gasped exaggeratedly and put a hand over his heart. “How dare you suggest that! I just want the best for my dearest friends.” The others laughed. Every single one of them knew that Charlie harbored deep feelings for you- and every single one of them knew he would never admit it. “Look, just one date. Ask them out on Saturday. They really like you, and I know they’re free, so they can’t pull any excuses.”
“I just don’t know.” Neil admitted. “They’re great and all, but I’d feel bad if I stole away your crush of four years.”
“You won’t be stealing anything, my boy. Just think about it.” Charlie knew he was lying, and it left a bitter taste in his mouth, but he also knew that somehow, he was making the right decision.
Like all of your romantic endeavors, your date with Neil is slightly awkward. He’s your friend, sure, but you’ve never really thought about him like this before. You never even considered dating him. It’s always been Charlie. Maybe, just maybe, it’s time to broaden your horizons.
After the initial tension, you would like to believe it went well. Neil walks you out of the restaurant, holding your arm. He’s smiling, and you feel your own expression falter. You like him, you really do, but some part of you knows that he will never be Charlie.
He leans closer to you, almost close enough to touch. Your heart pounds in your chest as he whispers something into your ear. “Don’t look, but Charlie’s watching. Pretend I’m kissing you.”
You’re taken aback as your eyes try to search for his brown hair, but after a second, you comply. You shut your eyes and thread your fingers through Neil’s. To anyone else, especially anyone inside of the restaurant, it looks like you’re smashing tongues with him.
Neil walks you home as the day fades into night, and as much as you ask, your questions are left unanswered with a sly wink.
“I can’t believe you would do that.” Charlie rages. “It was meant to be a date, not a date and a tongue fuck! That was their first kiss, Neil, and you’ve stripped them of it!” He doesn’t know why he’s so outrageously enraged. It was a quick kiss from the boy you’ve been crushing on. He should be overjoyed for you.
“It wasn’t like that, Charlie. Just ask them.” Neil is surprisingly calm, considering his friend is screaming at him. “Ask them. Go on.” He pushes Charlie’s shoulder. “I walked them home.”
Charlie grumbles, his gut twisted into shaking, angry knots. “I will. If they tell me you did anything weird, though, you’re dead.” Neil shakes his head.
“I think you’d kill me even if I didn’t kiss them.”
For the second time, you hear a knock at your door. This one is loud and frenzied, but through the haze, you can tell who it is. Who else would knock so harshly at 11:23 at night? It’s a good four hours after your date, so it definitely can’t be Neil.
You open the door, clad in pajamas and a frown. “Seriously, Charlie? You’re gonna wake the whole neighborhood.”
“Did he kiss you?” Ah, straight to the point. He’s never one to beat around the bush.
“What’s it to you?” You defend. “You didn’t care about that possibility when you wanted me to date him.” You cross your arms. Why the hell is he so upset? You don’t understand anything about this. His motives, his feelings, right now, they’re more confusing than he’s ever been. Well, save for one night. Oddly, this reminds you of that dance a few years back. You don’t want that to happen again, so whatever’s going on has to stop.
He opens his mouth and then closes it like he’s actually considering what he wants to say for the first time in his life. “I just…” A defeated expression tugs his face down. Your heart plummets. You rarely ever see him crestfallen. The last time was four years ago, and you had hoped you would never see him like that again.
He turns to walk away. He can’t do it, he just can’t. He’s walking so fast the pavement under his feet is a blur, and you chase after him.
“Charlie, what are you-“ He turns, seeing the confusion on your face.
When he looks at you, all Charlie can see is love. He loves your voice, the curve of your lips, the way you do anything and everything. In that moment, when he sees you with tired eyes, his inhibitions flee like rabbits from a wolf. Maybe, just maybe, he can.
Before you can ask, yet after you see the fire in his eyes, he grabs your arm and cuts you off.
“Can I kiss you?”
You’re taken aback for a moment, lips parted, not speaking a word. His hair is messy and the tear tracks on his cheeks glisten in the street lights. It’s like everything you’ve ever wanted has sprung to life before your eyes. “Yes, but-“
He presses his lips to yours, effectively cutting off any further communication once again. His grip on you softens as his hands reach up to cup your face. Your eyes flutter shut, and a million different things race through your mind. All you can consciously think is that you never want it to end.
When he pulls away, breathless, something new is shining in his eyes. “I hope that wasn’t bad for a second kiss.” He smiles. He’s still worried, more so than he’s ever been, but that was the most amazing thing he thinks he’s ever done.
“Second? Charlie, that was my first.”
He pauses. “So Neil didn’t kiss you?”
You laugh, and upon seeing his even more excited face, you laugh so hard you double over. He joins, and your giggles are probably too loud for how late it is. “No! God no, he told me to pretend because you were watching.” Your voice comes out humorous and strained, with so much joy behind the tone that Charlie can feel himself starting to laugh again. “Were- Were you in the restaurant for our whole date?”
“Yeah.” He chokes out. “I couldn’t just let the love of my life date some other guy without my knowledge, right?”
“Oh, totally. Maybe you should ask me out next time, then, to completely avoid this whole scenario.” He pulls you in, laughing against your shoulder.
“Sure. Yeah, I think I will. Next time, I’ll make sure of it.”
Valentines Celebration Prompt
Pairing: Rafe Cameron x FemReader
4. You’ve always pretended you hate love to avoid getting hurt but then he stumbles upon a journal where he discovers you romanticize everything, including him.
Tumblr media
Rafe was not used to being the upbeat friend with absolutely anyone. That was except for you. You were just as annoyed with the world as him if not more. So somehow he took on the job of making sure you keep an open mind on everything around you. When someone talked to loud on their phone he was the one to keep you from saying anything and when an old couple kissed on the beach he was the one to remove to scowl on your face. He wasn’t sure whatever made you see the worst in everything and everyone but he knew you deserved more. You deserved hope. So even though he had been tainted by the world himself he still wanted to make sure it was a good place for you.
Which is why most of his weekends are spent taking you on small adventures, trying his best to get you to see the beauty in the world. So just like every Friday night he sits on your bed and waits for you to finish your shower so you could start off the weekend together. Other than today he was extremely bored. His phone had died and your bedside charger hadn’t quite brought it to life yet and he didn’t know what to do with himself. Which probably explains why his hand reached to pull your bedside drawer open.
Of all the things he expected to find in there the last was a diary. You hated everyone and everything. There was almost no practical reason for you to ever have an item intended to romanticize the life around you. And yet, leather bound and all is a dainty pink journal that has clearly been touched everyday. He doesn’t want to open it, but the more he stares the more he realizes he can’t even picture you lying here in bed at night and spilling every thought you had in the journal. So he opens it to prove himself wrong.
Today was a perfect day. Not only did Rafe make the most perfect fluffy pancakes for breakfast but he used strawberries to add a smiley face to them. He’s so good like that. Taking such small gestures and making them resonate within your entire being. I told him I wasn’t a child the whole time but secretly I loved it. It was adorable to think of him standing in my kitchen, smiling to himself as he crafted a perfect smiley face just to put a smile on mine. I could barely eat my pancake. I just watched and appreciated him. He hums while he eats, no particular tune but I never want to forget it. It’s my favorite song. I also love the way his nose scrunches when I make him laugh. It’s the cutest wrinkle that makes me wish I could smooth it out with my thumb every time. People are always so worried about getting laugh lines when they’re older but they’d look so handsome on Rafe. A constant reminder of all the times he saw me for me and accepted who I was. I hope I get to see those laugh lines for the rest of my life and be reminded I was the one who put them there. No one else deserving of the radiance that is Rafe Cameron. He makes every day a perfect day.
“What are you doing?” your voice startles him, the journal flipping from his hands and landing to the ground on the side of your bed with a thud.
“I- uh. My phone died, and I was just-. I thought you’d have a book or something” the excuse is weak and his stutter confirms his lie even more. Your hair is damp over your shoulders, more than likely soaking the black fabric of the small shirt you have on.
“I have a whole shelf over there, this is private” your words are sharp as you move to grab the journal from where he had lost it. He watches as you lift it up only to discover the pages he was on. Your eyes move fast across the page and then dart up at him quickly. “Did you read this?”
“Um, I uh-“ but your standing and hugging the notebook that just revealed you are so much more than a girl that’s hates the world but a girl that’s in love with it for all the things that make it beautiful. Including your relationship with him.
“Oh my God you read it” and now you’re pacing, unsure if you should fight off tears or the panic that’s lodged its way into your throat and is making you sick.
“Hey, it’s okay. It’s no big deal” Rafe is scrambling off the bed, grabbing your shoulders to ensure you stop pacing.
“It is a big deal Rafe, this is humiliating. These are my private thoughts” you tell him, a bit exasperated to even be in this predicament right now.
“I know but I thought your private thoughts would be more along the lines of ‘not only did Rafe wake me up early for a surprise breakfast but he put a smiley face on my pancake like a kid. Mornings suck and smiles are for ignorant children’” and you hate that he knows you so well, or at least the person you hid behind. A girl can only wear her heart on her sleeve so much before it finally gets torn apart.
“Ugh, you really did read it” you groan out, moving to sit on the end of your bed and Rafe lightly chuckles, still filled with shock over his discovery and attraction towards you. It must be that adorable pout.
“Yes, but it’s not a big deal. I thought it was sweet” he says sitting beside you and wrapping an arm around your shoulders.
“Ew, do not call me sweet” you groan and a laugh bellows out of him.
“Oh please, you love it. And me too apparently” and now your face is as red as a firetruck because Rafe knows everything. That you really don’t hate the world around you.
“I can’t even deny it anymore” and now that you weren’t entirely embarrassed and owning up to the situation, Rafe feels the seriousness hit him like a wave. Suddenly his arm is wrapped around a girl he’s liked for a long time and never thought would like him back. Yet now he knew that she did.
“If it helps, I like you too. If I didn’t I wouldn’t be making you pancakes early in the morning” he tells you, body nudging into your own, and you lightly laugh. You always assumed that your love for Rafe would be hidden by your hate for everything but now that the truth was out it made sense that it didn’t. Secrets never stay secrets for long.
“You still shouldn’t have found out that way” you say lifting the journal in your arms and he smiles softly at you.
“Can I ask why you pretend so much?” Rafe asks after a beat and you sigh, turning to face him which makes his arm fall off your shoulder. He watches as you finally release the journal on your bed and he knows you’re ready to open up.
“A girl can only wear her heart on her sleeve for so long until it becomes ruined. When you expose things to people, put them out there in the real world, they’ll always come back a little less perfect than before. I was tired of getting hurt and if you already assume the worst there is no chance of ever breaking down” you tell him, knowing how silly it sounds. To pretend to be so mean and vile towards everyone and everything when in reality all you ever wanted to do was love.
“I can understand that” Rafe says, thinking of all the times his own father had tainted his heart when growing up. Why Rafe was willing to do anything to get his Dad to love him. See him as something good, just like Sarah.
“I didn’t mean to lie, I just thought if you knew how I felt you would hurt me too” you say and Rafe sighs before scooting closer, hating that you had put distance between you both.
“Honey, I hate everyone and everything except for you. You should’ve known everytime I cheered you up and made pancakes at the ass crack of dawn was because I liked you” he says and the laugh that bubbles past your lips makes Rafe’s heart soar.
“I suppose you’re right, I guess I just couldn’t take my chances” you say and Rafe is grinning, hands wrapping around your hips, and pulling you flush against him.
“I’m going to kiss you now” he tells you and your heart doubles in speed as your eyes glance into his own. Rafe smiles briefly before ducking close and nudging his nose against your own. When your lips part for him he quickly seals against you. A soft hum of delight somehow finds its way from your throat and it has Rafe squeezing you closer as his tongue dips into your mouth. Once you’ve been kissed dizzy he pulls away, eyes glossed over as he looks back at his perfect girl.
“I was right” you say as he glances at your face, lips swollen from your own.
“Yeah, about what?” he asks with a teasing tone to his voice and you wrap your hands around his neck, grinning widely at him.
“You make every day a perfect day”
hi darling! alright i was wondering like y'know when gwen said “in every other universe gwen stacy FALLS for spiderman. and in every other universe it doesn't end well.” and then i was wondering if you could do a fanfic where the reader is in danger and literally FALLS but at the end miles saved her
i got you. [1610!miles x f!reader]
summary: gwen stacy always falls for spiderman. at this case, [name] is miles' gwen stacy.
warning: sensitive content, fluff and maybe angst. bad grammar, missed spellings (grammarly is starting a villain era)
note: takes place where spot finally attacks miles' universe. she/her for reader, he/him for miles.
[earth-1610]
gwen and miles sat on the edge of the clock tower, gazing over the city upside down. "y'know, i heard from someone that gwen stacy is spiderman's true love." she started. it made miles to steal a glance at her, wanting to know what's she's implying. "and in your universe, i bet [name] is your gwen stacy." she throws him a teasing stare.
miles chuckled, looked back to the city—eyeing a spot where her neighbourhood is located. hoping that she's doing well, smiling softly at the spot "yeah, i guess you're right."
the way miles looked talking about his significant other made gwen feel some sort of guilt in her heart. "in every other universe, gwen stacy falls for spiderman..." her eyes flattered close, many deaths of her alternate version of her selves always made her shudder, "and in every other universe, it doesn't end well."
not understanding the meaning behind her words, miles could only give her a look of sympathy, thinking she meant about her other alternative selves.
[name] read a book, as she waited for miles to come back. she told his parents to keep him company and to talk about what happened earlier at the party, which made them let her go.
the girl could only pursue her lips when she saw the room empty with the window open. seeing an orange sweater by his bed, which she had never seen before, it made her confusion even deeper. [name] figured she'll ask miles once he comes back and fold the sweater by the foot of his bed.
as the [h.color] hair girl turned her page, she heard a series of laughers from outside the window, and one of them is her boyfriend's. miles poke his head in the window, checking if his parents are around, and the white outline of his mask squint into a happy expression as he sees her. "[nickname], hey!"
she was scooped in his arms before she could even greet him back, erupting a pit of giggles from her lips. "miles!" he sat her down to his bed, letting her pull off his mask, exposing a wide grin under it as he looked at her lovingly.
"miles! you know i'm not from around here, why did you lef— oh." a familiar looking stranger is standing near his window. her arms seem to be tacked by her side. it seems like she's almost uncomfortable in the being in the room. it made [name] look at her in questioning why she looked familiar.
"uh, hi!" was all gwen can utter. it feels wrong to see her like this and not limp like what she saw, she wants to start a conversation, but don't know how; she feels a small pit of guilt and blue down to her stomach.
"[name], this is gwen, one of the other spiderpeople i told you about!" realization hits her instantly, muttering an understanding noise. a bright smile tug her lips.
"hi, i'm [name] [last name]. i knew i've seen you before. it's nice to finally meet you!" thrusting a hand, gwen shook it as she took her mask off. the gap in her teeth is seen as a timid smile plastered in her features.
"nice to meet you too! have we met before?" she asked, thinking a reason why [name] said she looked familiar.
"can i tell her about the sketchbook?" the girl whispered to miles, smiling sheepishly at her boyfriend, yet gwen heard every word. she found it adorable how sweet they interacted, the horrible feeling is coming back once again.
"sure, she already saw it, though." gwen snorted at miles' words, thinking back how he tried to take the sketchbook from her. her look soften as [name]'s beam get wider, and took gwen's sweater from the bed and gave it to her.
she hook her arms with spiderwoman as they walked to the living room, chatting away. happy to have a female friend to be with.
"i knew you look familiar, i saw you once at his drawings. he really misses you guys, y'know." [name]'s muffled voice can be heard through the walls. th
"yeah, i missed him too. speaking of his drawings, i saw a lot of your face in there," miles could only shake his head at them as he put on his jacket, a smile is present.
unknown to what gwen is truly feeling at the moment.
[spider-society]
"[name] is my gwen stacy." miles repeated the phrase from hours ago, as he looked at gwen. betrayal is seen in his features, that made spiderwoman turn away from his eyes. "you knew about this."
it feels like the world is crumbling as he learned his girlfriend's death. falling to her death in three days, worst of it he saw it— he saw it in a vison spot gave him. witnessing her body go limp made his body lost its soul.
and knowing that gwen knew about it and she acted like nothing is wrong when she and [name] interact, made him feel almost sick.
"miles, i tried to tell you.." gwen's voice trailed as miles turn away from her, a lump build in her throat. gwen feels disappointed to herself when she didn't have the courage to tell him let alone, her. as the two girls talk, the gloomy feeling is started to consume her more and more. "i know you wanted to want to save her, i do too! but—"
"but it's her fate." miguel interrupted, hands on his hips as he gave miles a blank stare, "you can't mess up what's the universe has set for her."
no. miles can't have that, he needs to go home. now.
[spot's ambush]
everything was out of control, ever since he came back to his world.
civilians panicking, scattered around to find shelter; a safe place to avoid the chaos. other spiders did their very best to keep them safe while some fought for the fate of the universe. spot is destroying earth-1610. his home.
he spent too much time in earth-42, it feels like he's running out of time.
everything was a blur, high pitch rang in his ear as he particularly searched high and low for her. for [name]. panic is starting to bubble up, it's slowly eating him up.
"miles!" faint voice in the crowd is heard, he search for it spinning in circles before his eyes caught sight of her. "miles!" her hands are stretching out reaching for him as she run towards his direction.
[name] almost lost her footing as miles dives into her, embracing her real to him, mumbling something in a relief voice she doesn't seem to catch. she hugged up just as much, kissing the side of his mask.
"are you— are you okay? y'alright? p-please tell me you're alright—!" miles blurbs out, stuttering over his sentences. his eyes was swift as he scan all over her body, she have few small scratches that he should be treating to not get infected. he's too paranoid to think straight.
"miles!" she called out again, the warmness of her palm made him realised she cup his cheeks to make him look at her. "i'm okay! I'm doing just fine. are you alright? oh, baby... " it was the same [e.color] eyes that he swore he could get loss in every single time.
[name] craddle him in worry, he have a huge gash on his shoulder, his suit is ruin, blood is spilling from his wounds. "we need to get out of here," she starting pulling his arm with her, guiding him to the a much safer area.
"no, mi vida." miles stayed in his position, making his girl spun to him in worry, "you have to get out of here. gwen is with mom and dad, if peter or hobie fin9pld you in the crowd they'll take you with th—"
"what about you?" she breaths heavily, "i can't leave you, the other spiders can handle it, you need to be patch up." [name] knew reasoning with him won't change his mind about fighting, but his next answer wasn't what she expected.
"he's here for me. for you." he blurbs out, hold her firmly by her arms. panic is still present to both of their bodies. "we're the one he's after and i can't—" he paused, white like eyes on his mask widening in alert.
"mile—" he pushed her behind him, arms out ready to fight. her hands gall to his shoulders.
"oh would look at that." a new voice called out, a black figure floats from the ground, hovering over them. white spots are all over his body, it seems to be glitching. portals opening and closing behind him. "that's real sweet." the figure commented, pointing a finger on the two.
"what is that?" [name] thought out loud, she'd seen mutants before in the news that spiderman capture, but this one. she never seen anything like it, or figure out what it is.
the figure snap its head to look at her. that one big white circle in his face is moving. it feels like her soul is being sucked in.
"what am i?" he taunts, tilting his head at them. it feels like the world as stopped, as the villian focus on the two. "well, let me tell you."
the black figure hovers forward to them, miles backing up, causing the villain to make a portal on the ground to stop them. [name] squeal as she almost lost balance.
the portal shows the top of the clock tower, the tower that is all familiar to miles. the one where he hang out with gwen upside down.
"i'm the one who spiderman thinks a joke," his head glitched, ticking into its place. drawing more and closer to the couple. "i'm gonna show you i'm no joke." the figure thrust his hand forward, attempting to grab [name], but miles was quick to move a punch. too angry to think the spot can lay a single finger on his girl.
sadly, the villain caught up to him and made a portal to in his face. miles punched himself that was hard enough to made him feel a concussion coming.
he punch too hard thinking that the fist wasn't for him. miles lose his balance, leaning into [name] a bit — big mistake.
"wait no, no, no, no!" [name] lose a footing as his weight drops on her chest a bit, she screams as she falls from the sky to the top of the building. she hugged miles tighter into her.
her scream causes miles to snap out of his pain, he was quick to shoot a web by the side of the tower. panting as he held the two of them two together.
"are you okay? you got scratched or anything, tesoro?" her arms are wrapped around his neck as her legs clang by his waist, mimicking a koala. his arm have a dense grip by her waist, their forehead rest on the other. [treasure]
"i'm alright, what about you?" she caressing the side of his neck, looking at him with scared and worried stare.
miles only sighed, peaking her forehead through his mask, he did his best to climb up till they're the top. letting her rest for a bit, calming her down.
yet, it was the calm before the storm. spot once again appeared before them. to make matters worse, the sky was getting darker and darker. "i'm the spot. and i'm your mortal enemy, spiderman." spot started, [name] can feel her heart dropping deeper as the black figure getting closer and closer to them.
"look, man. the collider did this to you, i didn't make you like this!" miles desperately tried to explain, getting infront of [name] shielding her from the villain. "and she has nothing to do with this!"
"i know." spot paused, looking almost expressionless. "but every villain has to take away one of the heroes' loved ones, and i happen to get her first."
a bus appeared in front of them, almost crashing the two. miles swift swept her off her feet, climbing to the top of the tower. the glass roof made her feel a little nauseous by how deep the bottom looked from up there. "i need to get you out of here," miles muttered to her, he was look all over the place. his senses are highten up, so much so that he can hear her loud and fast heart rate.
a mail box was dropped from the top of the two, spiderman easily dart it as it was aimed badly at them.
but to his horror, he saw the glass beneath [name] cracked and let her fall inside the tower with a bloody murdered scream. "no!" miles exclaimed.
"oh, there she goes." spot said, witnessing the scene from below him.
miles dived to the hole, his eyes fixed on her and only her. he expertly dogde the portals spot made for him in order to not save her. words of miguel and the others rang in his head as his eyes only meet hers, and nothing else.
"[name] is your gwen stacy." did the other spidermans experience this too? too late to save her. living while the guilt and burden lie heavily in their chest.
"its her fate." is there nothing he can do? he can possibly do? he wants to live his life it her. he doesn't want to end it like this. no, please. please.
glass shard was falling with them as well. her arms were stretched to reach him. it feels like everything was in slow motion. her life flashes right through her eyes; and worst of it, miles can see it as well. she doesn't know how long she's been falling. she hates how she's gonna die, just like this.
their hands touched.
even when it was only a millisecond, miles already have an iron grip on her hand hard and shot a web by one of the flatforms inside the tower. her feet only inches from the ground.
the couple feel water works burst in their eyes, too relief about their miracle. "i got you, it's okay, you're okay. you're okay, amor." miles chanted as he pulled her up to him.
her hand landed on his chest, briefly feeling his rapid heart and embracing him tightly. she was at her final point that she cried in his neck, scared about her life just a second ago.
she cried, thinking that was her final moments with life and she'll never see him again.
she cried, relieved that she's with him. alive. and being craddle in his arms.
miles gently landed at the bottom of the clock tower, he have her envelope in his arms. he took off his mask as he couldn't calm his own breath. he feels his legs give up and kneel on the ground with her still in close to him.
she's not letting go. and neither does he.
"i thought i was gonna die..." she sobbed, her shoulders shudder as a hiccup coming up her throat.
me too... he thought. miles gave her head a peak, "i got you, tesoro. i got you." [treasure]
