curious about your perspective – what do you think is the primary reason for the current comeback, and for the large scale of it (daily videos, new heavily marketed merch, etc)? are they trying to make up some monetary loss? is it true revitalized passion? the influence of the new management? lead-up to a major project/announcement? i'm guessing there's an element of at least the first three, but interested in your opinion as a noted non-cynical cynic (compliment btw)

ahaha. about merch. did you notice how they just continue to promote the calendar and the catboy sweater even though the initial release and promo had a deadline aka till December 1st? this is a fishy marketing right there. and i would love to know: why they did what they did (i'd assume they printed more calendars than people ordered by Dec 1st, but that's not our problem as customers. we shouldn't have been put into a framework in the 1st place if there was a chance for this shit to go south. this theory goes against the "pre-order" with a start of shipping in 2-3 weeks); why their managers allowed it (from a legal perspective); and why dnp didn't say anything. anyways.

i do think that Dan is trying to compensate for wad losses. and i know that he was "joking" about not making money or making negative money on tour. but i saw ticket sales a day before each show (only public information, not the inside official data from venues), it's still on my blog. and the sales didn't look good. so, how much of it was a joke? and compensating by making content that we and they enjoy isn't a bad thing, btw! i also think that he feels guilty for leaving us and the dnp brand behind for so long without actually giving us anything in return. thus so many comments on this 5-year hiatus and potential future ones. blame youtube originals, i know. not really his fault, but his choice of (the lack of) communication is his fault. and again, i always come back to wad. something fucking clicked in his head when he saw not as many people as he hoped for (or expected), how dedicated were some of those who still supported him during wad, and also he realised that without stronger managers he was not gonna make it solo. and he dragged Phil along because they do everything together and only then it works the best, and also dnpg's return in full force needed new energy for the amount of sponsorships they decided to do (i think, it's mainly Phil's pushing, because he is pro-sponsorships, they just need to be more careful with it on dnpg because Dan (hopefully) has principles when it comes to this. which is amazing. you go, girl!)

i'm very suspicious of dnp's new management right now. so idk. i think, again, most of it comes from Phil, because Phil thrives on their gaming channel, and that's basically the only easy way to survive on youtube and make money right now (for him). i'm glad dnp separated dnpg from their solo careers at least on the management and content levels. it gives Phil the room to use dnpg as a brand to pitch and fund his ideas/projects if it's ever needed. and now, after we survived the hiatus, they can pause dnpg for a couple of months to focus on their solo projects without losing the majority of the audience because technically we would know the reason and also we grew a thicker skin.

i do think that Dan is using dnpg to later help himself with a stand-up special or tour or some sort of series (danisnotokay). i also think he will use it to promote wad dvd (which is good. i will be disappointed if he doesn't use dnpg. like, bitch, why are we even here then? those who went through wad with him, i mean). i wonder if Inter Talent (i'm separating their name intentionally at his point because they piss me off) was smart enough to announce Dan and Phil's signings 2 weeks after UTA announced Dan to just make us pay attention to Dan's solo career again. as a hint of something coming our way. you know what i mean? i wonder if it was intentional. like UTA made a huge announcement, Dan retweeted it and posted it on instagram stories. it was a big deal. meanwhile, dnpg began thriving again and our eyes were on Dan anyway, so of course we noticed that solo career was on the maps again. Inter Talent was basically silent as another representative of Dan (and Phil), despite having them on the website for at least a month. and now 2 weeks after UTA's announcement (which was on November 22, 2023) Inter Talent was like, "hello? do you remember we signed Dan? and also Phil, and their joint channel?" Dan said wad dvd is almost cooked. wouldn't it be genius to stir our interest up step by step? (a part of me still thinks that Inter Talent's social media managers are just slow as fuck though. also they don't even care to check facts about their clients. UTA didn't fuck the announcement up like that, btw. and i doubt Inter Talent realises how nosy dnp's audience is, and that we are very likely gonna notice and spread even this stupid announcement. maybe they are dumb and it's me who is a fucking genius planning steps to present wad dvd to the masses, ugh. when will Dan pay me, like for real.)

i'm surprised you don't think it's heavily connected to new projects. i would bet my kidney it does. Dan will fuck off the moment he needs to focus on danisnotokay or someone offers to sponsor another tour (which, please, someone do. i need to see him for professional reasons). the question is, fuck off for how long and if it's gonna be communicated thoroughly or not. i'm not saying he will leave for 6 months without giving us something in return to balance things out. no, no, no. i don't think he would dare. but 3-4 weeks, maybe 2 months? sure.

is it true revitalized passion? well. *nervous laughter* i'm gonna defend Phil like i'm a phillie, even tho i'm not. he wanted it just as much as we did. so i believe it's a true revitalized passion at least on his part. i hope he fights for it if it's necessary, i hope he asks us for help if needed. i hope he threatens Dan with an actual divorce and forever home if needed. like, bitch, if there's a chance to keep dnpg alive without Dan actually losing his will to live, we should use that chance. Dan's stubbornness and delulus are not the reason to kill the most fun and profitable thing they ever created aka dnp brand. let it exist, even if alongside solo projects, even if it's 2-3 videos a month. damn, even 1 video (i don't mean during pauses made specifically for the peaks of solo projects). i do think Dan enjoys the attention, money, and possibilities their returned audience can give him. he also enjoys working with Phil. he certainly does not enjoy promoting their videos. and he is lucky he has Phil for that. is it a true passion for the gaming channel and joint branding solemnly? i genuinely don't think so. now, this dnp brand puts Dan into a framework, unfortunately. and i understand his desire to grow as a "strong independent Dan", and i wish him the best. i will root for him no matter how much of a floppy-ding-dong it can potentially be. i want him to fulfill his dreams and have a team that will fight for his interests. and i hope to god, UTA and Inter Talent are the ones. don't fucking tempt me with your unprofessionalism. but do i think Dan's head and heart belong to dnpg or dnp brand? no. i'm happy that he is at least trying. a part of me doesn't even care about the reason. i'm curious, but in hindsight, it wouldn't matter or change anything.

i'm glad dnp took back a bit of control over the editing on dnpg. i hope they will try to edit more themselves when gamingmas is over. or they will teach their editors better. because man, we need to slow down with these cuts.

i do think that dnp brand will expand, and dnpg and merch aren't the only things we should expect. (twitch, podcast or liveshows, onlyfans or its equivalent, vlogging series not limited by ditl, and other things that i forgot). reaction videos are already a thing and it's very funny because it's what youtube wants, so Dan must feel amazing right now falling for it :)) it's good thought because it's fun and torture for all parties involved.

i think by these reaction videos they are trying to rewrite their internet history a little bit for those who are new. it's not gonna work with us but at least dnp can control the narrative in new people's heads (i wonder for how long though).

with new people, the phandom will become more generic and dnp will love that. it can actually help Dan with new projects i think. Phil as well, but we don't know shit about it right now.

I was listening to this cast by The Weeb Crew, with SteveM as a guest, going through some other Evangelion video and dissecting the mythical memetic tropes it buys into. Which was a lot of fun, I recommend the cast, and the video they are critiquing is a bit of a grad-bag of zombie memes about Evangelion from the 2000's, which yeah have aged poorly.

One of the ones they get into is the idea that Evangelion's TV ending was "intensely unpopular", and Anno & crew were getting like bombarded with death threats and stuff. Which happened at some level sure, but certainly wasn't the median response. The video actually sites the "emails" shown on screen in End of Evangelion as evidence:

And like, bro those emails are fake! The staff wrote them for the movie, they didn't use real death threats or fan mail, that would be a huge legal liability. Not saying they are analytically useless or anything but, you know, you need to know that.

Anyway, SteveM mentions that of course there was pushback against Eva's ending, but actually the big wave wasn't interior to the fandom - instead it was sparked by Eva "going mainstream" discourse-wise. In particular a review essay by social critic Eiji Otuska (who is also a former lolicon creator ding ding ding) that was published after the finale aired sparked a widespread discussion in the media by other critics. He links to the essay in their discussion....except he doesn't. He thinks he did, and then when they look, its just someone else mentioning it in an article in 2003:

Bitter disputes broke out on online bulletin boards, with some critical of the producers for failing to provide a clear-cut end to the story, and others who praised the finish for being "typically Evangelion-like." But when commentator Eiji Otsuka sent a letter to the Yomiuri Shimbun, complaining about the end of the Evangelion series, the debate went nationwide. "The debate that erupted over the ending went way beyond our calculations," Gainax's Sato chuckles. "Anno probably knew what was going on. He realized that media other than anime had taken notice of Evangelion."

Which triggered in me the thought - why doesn't he have it? He references it in his own work after all. As you can guess, after some searching I am pretty sure I know why; no one has it. Its never been scanned or reprinted in an accessible format! It definitely is important in the history of Evangelion - I have seen this claim in other contexts, the essay that sparked a discourse, and you can find many works about Evangelion citing Otsuki (generally later works, like an article published in September of 1996 which you can buy) But what the article article said is only discernable via the clues dropped from second-hand accounts.

So can we find it?

First of all I need to figure out what is even being referenced. Searching through contemporary Japanese sources, I dug up an extremely handy find:

A somehow-still-existing 1997 fan page by a Japanese otaku (I'm giving you this stuff auto-translated btw, what would you do with a wall of kanji?) who extensively catalogued every media mention of Evangelion. I am sure they missed some, but they didn't miss a big one like the Otsuki letter - which we know from the above interview appeared in gigantic newspaper Yoimiuri Shimbun:

This gives us three candidates; given that we know it was written after the finale aired, and that was March 27th, 1996, our most likely candidate is the April 1st essay; I was able to find a secondary source mentioning the review was "immediately" after the finale, so I think that nails it.

Which alas does not bring up anything! Try as I might I cannot find any extant blog post, or scanned image, or long quoted form. But after trying the usual methods I did realize something - unlike my average document hunt, this is Yoimiuri Shimbum, a newspaper, a big newspaper. Which means they probably have their own archive, which I might be able to access. and low and behold, they do! And my university research services actually have an account!!

Incredibly blessed by this stroke of luck, I went digging for everything containing "Evangelion" and "Eiji Otsuka" in 1996, and found it:

And it's fucking blank. If the article is scanned or anything it will have that "Japanese Text" you see on the first result, or "Scanned Image" tag or something. I swear its like the only ones not scanned, all the random ads and list of best sellers are all there, but the entire cultural essays section is just an archival void. Shot in the skull right at the finish line.

Alas I am out of ideas of this one - its a newspaper, no one is selling this on Yahoo Auctions. Though hey, at least now we know the title:

"Aum" by the way is Aum Shinrikyo, the cult terrorist group that conducted the 1995 Tokyo subway sarin gas attack. Which you can imagine really took the chattering classes by storm; it was the culmination of a series of "extremist" actions that began in the 1980's that built up a narrative of societal decay and alarm. It really isn't surprising that Otsuka linked Evangelion to Aum Shinrikyo; the apocalyptic connections were obvious, there was even an episode of the show that had to be changed due to the attacks as the production team thought the events were too similar. And additionally, if this essay was gonna spark a "societal backlash", it has to say something controversial right? I have definitely seen other critics like Hiroki Azuma discussing Eva in relation to Aum as a "social phenomenon" - I am betting Otsuka is the source of that comparison being so ubiquitous.

From other sources like people on twitter and other articles, I can pick up a few other details on what it contained; apparently he referred to Evangelion's finale as a "self-help seminar" for otaku and lambasted the idea of airing one of those on TV. And from his other writings I think you can certainly piece it together - essentially seeing Evangelion's self-involvement and hyper-introspection as a product of the same societal malaise that birthed Aum Shinrikyo, while failing to deliver a solution that could "go beyond" that. Which, the shit you said about media in the 90's, I want a hit of what he's having! But while today its quite obvious that groups like Aum were, sure, saying something about society but turned out overwhelmingly to be fringe weirdos as opposed to canaries in the mental institute coal mine, at the time this was very much the zeitgeist.

Still, I don't really care all that much what it says - its an important artifact! It started the "Eva discourse boom" that broke out of otaku circles and launched Evangelion into a cross-societal phenomenon! We should have a record of it, it should be preserved. I will ruminate on it, and see if any other ideas pop up. And meanwhile if anyone out there happens to see what I missed definitely let me know.

Funniest thing about 1st edition of Warhammer RPG mode is that it included a skill system that was basically professions/lifestyles (same as AD&D 1E, btw), and to determine what skills your PC has you rolled d100, and one of the skills with 1/100 chance was transvestite.

There was additional explanation for some of the skills but not for this one, and while the system wasn't really detailed it stated that you could take levels in skills.

(Seriously, while it probably was a joke, adding randomly generated quirks is a fun idea to make people play more diverse characters. So that your halfling rogue could be a transvestite or a vegan or colourblind, things like that. The only problem is that they have to be relatively minor mechanically)

But yeah while some things about that game are very of its time I do like that type of minimalistic skill system where your pre-adventuring career acts as a guideline as to what things your character may be expected to be able to do without introducing randomness into the mix. It very much feels like a predecessor to the WFRP career system, although that one made it more fine-grained and basically like a class system where you were expected to ascend to one of the better careers

So I believe a lot in time travel, and I do think that if you manifest to relive it in person one day, you will probably just start to remember it that way with all the things you changed, and you won't actually remember about the manifestation of it. 

For me, time travel is something that can be done, and shifting is a proof of it, because with shifting, we can shift back in time (in another time line) and shake things up.

now to the questions:

I want to know how your awareness will respond to it?

Our awareness shifts with us once you do the manifestation. As said before, I think you will just remember it as if you already lived that day like you wanted it, so the awareness of changing things up will not be there, or it will be there by just a really small amount of feeling dissociated.

Will you continue your experience here and I'll wake up in a different reality?

You will not be in a different reality; you will simply change your memories and the memories of one of the others that were with you, and from their point of view, they can feel more confused and remember some parts in a different way than you do because their perception of things gets involved because that is no longer only your perception involved.

Will it all actually go back and happen again?

Yes and no. You will not feel the effect on a physical level (you will not wake up on the first of April to relive it all again), but you will have the effect as if you did. meaning that yes, you will go back to the first of April to go back in time.

Do we alter the lifes of other when we manifest for them?

Using your example of the trip, if you manifest your friend going on a trip with you, you will alter your reality, not theirs. For them, it will be a conscious and calculated decision, and this decision stays in their reality.

yoooo so Ive read that one post about how you work with kids and I was like "omg literally same !" and I was wanting to lyk that even though some kids can be little shits, a lot of the time if youre patient with them, joke with them and, heres a big one, talk to them like theyre friends and not just kids theyll treat you wayyy better. I also know you said you work with first to second graders(at least Im pretty sure you said that) and I work with fourth to fifth graders so there probably is a difference. i also took this job because i weenie hut jr'ed out of taking an Actual Teaching position at a school because i got really nervous ( bc kids in 1st grade have to read A LOT, like without context, they start at the begining of the year reading a level books and have to finish the year reading i level books WHICH IS A LOOOT OF LEVELS )

and that bc ur first year of teaching is the hardest year ( a lot of ppl drop out/quit ) i would fuck up bc idk what i'm doing yet and a bunch of kids would end up behind bc i didn't teach them how to read correctly. like, when i tell you that sitting here in the lounge typing that literally makes me want to cry like...that would Devastate me. :(((

but anyways, i am...trying to be chiller w/ the older kids. bc i came out the gate being Strict ( because no jokes, every other school i worked out the kids had to be HELLA quiet like they could not talk or be rowdy ) but i guess…the school i'm working at is not like that? and a lot of my coworkers...don't press the kids that hard? Haven't seen one of these floating around for the recent MTAP tag but here's some gameplay tips I've picked up as a newbie who picked this up while it was 80% off on steam. I was mega stressed early on due to not knowing things and would be happy to pass on advice to save others the stress:

1. Reddit is good for advice and tumblr is penalizing me for links so yeah. Use the reddit community and/or wiki when stuck. Link to a decent set of advice is in the replies to this post.

2. Repair your workshop as soon as possible bc you'll wake up with low stamina daily until that gets done. Doesn't take more than like 30ish or so pieces of wood.

3. Yep the advice to make more than one machine is correct. Even for the blender. Maybe not the cooking setup or basic skiver per se. Yes, this will use up resources and space. Use the For Sale sign to expand space (or be like me and try to cram a level 2 house into a space too small for it 😅).

4. In the small planter boxes, grow lettuce, cotton, and wheat as much as possible if you can. You can also grow other things, but these seem to be the most helpful for feeding mounts and skiver crafting. Large boxes are for the special giant seeds and you can get the box from the church store and seeds from the Mysterious Man. Fertilize often to have the best shot at winning the Autumn Festival!

5. No, you can't have a rival romance with Higgins, tragically. But you can spar and body block him and chat to him until 9 AM to prevent him from taking commissions, especially the fancy valuable ones. I'm currently chill with being at rank 2 in my first year so I don't bother yet. I still think we should be allowed to woo him. As a treat. And mechanic to make him nicer 😅. Btw once he scams you (you'll know when) talk to him as soon as possible after and you can at least guilt him into giving you money.

6. No seriously do use Gust's shop in A&G to swap for 999 wood and keep furnaces running. You'll get wayyy too much stone from mining and the first quarry only gives so much marble for stone tables to sell en masse when the market is up. Other quarries are annoying to get to in the early game. Use the excess for wood first, then making stone bricks or stone tools etc to sell or whatever. Go wild. I make excess glass to sell since it's more profitable than raw resource selling, yep even with the wood cost. Still haven't figured out how to make excess soil more profitable besides planter boxes.

7. If you don't wanna feel like a monster for killing llamas for their worn fur, you can totally kill panbats. I like all the critters so I feel like a monster regardless 🥴. Kinda has to be done for certain quests and quest items tho.

8. Make allll the Dee-Dee Stops you can for the spots marked on the map. You can also have your mount follow you to the next stop.

9. Bring or make stamina repletion food when mining, esp if you have the game speed slowed down and don't run to the Round Table to replete (you have a limited number of things you can eat and can only eat once daily... Or you could try sitting for an hour if you aren't like me and it won't drive you crazy to sit and do nothing).

10. Annoying timed storyline quest needed items that you can collect earlier while the main story has no time limit for progression per se: pretty much all ores/ore products and special mining items like valves and engines, wild cocoons, ironwood (more than you think), bat wings, bamboo papaya, information discs (I keep the extra beyond the ones I give Petra for research in general for the storyline quest diagrams; I can complete the relics later), knight badges from the Round Table (minimum 250 of them), old parts, crystal necklace x1, dog food x1, soap x1, wildflower bouquet from Alice x1, tempering fluid, copper and steel wire, steel planks, welding rods. Can't think of the other ones that were super urgent and non-commission board rn as of Winter 1st (my latest stopping point) but yeah this is totally a hoarding game.

11. P.S. To get into the hazardous ruins area as a lower level, literally just dodge and run for 60 seconds. Do a hit if you feel brave. Yes, it's cowardly but it totally works and unlocks neat stuff you really need for certain quests. You can kick their asses later.

12. The worst that can happen if you die is that you get warped back home. Same for passing out at 3 AM but without the health depletion. Use that knowledge for what you will. I've noticed in boss battles it just bumps me back to the start of the battle with full health and stamina so I only get warped back further in other situations.

Things are not as they were. Unless major reform is enacted a third party will never win in the usa. Not as it is. And any hope of reform will disappear if we get another red prez. Between gerrymandering and the electoral college and the pearl clutching moderates who get scared of progressives, to Republicans with no morals who will 100% vote red without hesitation. We effectively only have 2 parties. At least for now.

A Republican candidate hasn't won the popular vote in decades yet they somehow keep running things.

Everyone I know is scared. Scared this will be our last election next year. But no one is more scared than the disabled. We are terrified. Theres a lot of chatter from the right about "dealing" with us and other "freeloaders" we are legitimately scared for our lives.

Protest votes is what gave us that disaster in 2016 and why roe vs wade is gone now. If they win again they are going to push the rest of their agenda through. These posts about refusing to vote or voting third party are exactly like they were in 2016. We've been down this road once already.

If given the choice of neglect vs active homicidal intent we all have at least a chance to survive neglect.

And neglect gives us time to do something. Work locally. Try and push for reform. It's horrible but it's what we have. And for most disabled it's ALL we have. We can't run, other countries won't take us.

I've even seen some scream about revolution but with zero plans for us. What will their revolution do with us? Will we still have our medical access? Will we still be taken care of? Or will the wheels of the revolution be greased with our blood?

And let's be clear, Trump won bc of electoral collage he did not win popular vote in 2016 you where overruled the vote didnt matter. Just like Bush did against Al Gore in 2000

That doesn't mean its hopeless or that you shluldnt vote particularlly on local levels. More ppl then ever in history are voting!! Turn outs are the highest they've been since 1950s!! (Also the last peak in union reforms btw) It's scary flipping parties, you might loose to Democrats or Republicans. It will be horrible. But yall are on the cusp of a civil war and fascism anyway, as an outsider who should hold little say over what you choose in this election, I'd still endorse the 3rd party. idk yall your system seems fucked and legit doesn't seem to care how you vote so scare them into using your vote for someone else and make them admit they're not actually counting your votes.

Its yours. It's scary out here no matter the outcome rn. All great, except for the fact that meals in polish hospitals are free, so...; 3rd was pretending to be a right winger (going as far as tagging polish right wing organisation) and he was going on and on about wołyń. Hi ! What is kenta's career story ?

It's hard to fully explain but basically he's part of what gets called the "golden generation" of jpnmags who were born in 1996 (kenzo, kazuma, wataru, kenta and fuya)

Now obvs we know kenzo kazuma and wataru ended up all being super successful

Kenta was just as good, like super promising, very talented. But unfortunately he was also like. The biggest flop the world has ever seen. In 2017 he qualified in 1st to the all Japan AA final- beating both kenzo and kohei. He ended up dropping right off the podium to 6th or 7th (like Teppei this year but unlike Teppei this year did not make s grand recovery at NHK). PH used to be his best event (or joint best with pbars) but it became so massively inconsistent for him (see: making the 2018 Asian Games PH EF then scoring sub 11 in the final). Also at some point recently he went "I think I want to be better at rings" and randomly became one of the best rings guys in Japan?? Which is not a super high level lmao but very impressive how he did that.

Last year in November he and Teppei posted an ig story saying they wanted to go to worlds together in 2023 and literally discussed it with my friends like "lmao impossible it would take a miracle to even get one of them there".

This year he places 11th at all Japan- pretty good result for him, nothing really out of the ordinary, he scored sub 13 on PH both days. Then at NHK he randomly enters GOAT mode, has the best competition of his ENTIRE LIFE to end up 4th less than 0.1 away from an automatic spot (behind Teppei, his son and heir to the kingdom of floppery btw). So he has a great chance to make the team but he needs to hit 2 PH at event championships routines to drop those 12s to make it a sure thing. Which seems unlikely, given his entire career so far. But nope... he did it. And he's going to worlds for the first time at the age of 27.

Meanwhile Kenzo who is the same age as him has been retired for 2 years. Kenta is the oldest Japanese gymnast to being going to his first worlds since at least 2005, possibly further. I can't find any recent gymnasts who went to their first worlds at older than 27 (if anyone can lmk???)

Idk it's just crazy bc watching him you eventually just kind of accept he's a flop and that it'll never happen for him. Except it did.

I keep thinking of how to compare it to someone that would put it into perspective for people but there's really no story out there that compares. Like even Teppei making the team feels like UGH FINALLY and he's only 22. Imagine if he kept flopping for 5 more years and THEN made a team. It's just a beautiful story. There is a reason basically every Japanese gymnast was posting specifically to congratulate Kenta, it's huge. So, I’m planning on having a “Red Light” district in my town, and today I started work on it. Yes, I did! 1st thing I did was go over to TSR to see if they had anything - which they did! Mutske built one! Only problem was it was on a weird-sized lot. So, I downloaded Wimmie’s Sunset Mall and am converting it. 

This is a 50x50 space and her lot was much smaller, so it will be perfect. Anyway, first thing I did was get rid of all the interior crap she had on those top 3 levels. This is going to be a content-heavy lot with just the lower 2 levels, so no use cluttering it up with useless nonsense just to fill up space. Then I started re-arranging interior walls. On this end, I moved the itsy-bitsy bar she had in the dark brown section to the 2nd level. It’ll still be a bar, but it’ll have a lot more space.

In that light tan part, she had 2 of those coffee bar thiniges and 2 tables and chairs. Period. I got rid of all of that - including a bathroom, that I moved elsewhere. (BTW, the exterior will change as I proceed. In fact, this tan build has already gotten a new exterior texture. Plus, I’m adding more signage and stuff as I go. That lighted billboard by cyclonesue, for example).  

I added this bump-out to the back of the building to give my sims a bit more seating. Then, I added those planters to keep the student sim drivers in the parking lot where they belong.

I’ve made this into an ice cream shop - mostly because my sims always like to visit them. That, and nectarys. Anyway, I changed the finishes on the windows and doors - hers were way too dark for my new color-scheme - then redid the floor. Where the ice cream counter is, is where she had her bathroom. Moving it, freed up a lot of space. Then I put in that archway into my greenhouse room. Actually, apart from the 4 walls, everything has been changed in this part. Including the wallpaper.

It’s just some tables and chairs back here - plus that chocolate thingie from the store and a coffee machine from that Cafe set from TSR. The bathroom is now on the other side of the elevator. That’s the area that used to have the bar - about 5 or 6 spaces wide. Now, I’ve divided it up into a hallway to the elevator, and the rest will be my PI office.

btw the sorcerous origin i am currently attempting to homebrew is based around fungus/mushrooms (i am tentatively calling the subclass ‘mycelium soul’; it’s a work in progress). i’m not that far but here are the quirks/manifestations you can have (roll a d4):

You are faintly biolumenscent; you shed dim light out to five feet.

Mushrooms grow on your body like moss on a tree.

You release a cloud of spores when you sneeze, cough, or speak too loudly.

Mouldy or rotten food doesn't bother you, and you have never gotten sick from it.

and that’s all i got so far! i’m still trying to figure out balancing for class features; some of my ideas include resistance/immunity to poison (or maybe necrotic?) damage, advantage on saves against the poisoned condition (or just immunity depending on what level). it’s more complicated but i was also thinking the player could like... gain access to local mycelium networks and learn things like the location/size of any creature within a certain radius (60-120ft? maybe?). or allow them to like... infect creatures with spores that could do certain effects (my thoughts for that were paralysis that functions similarly to a monk’s stunning strike vis a vis saving throws and activation method, or additional poison/necrotic damage that scales with sorcerer level/CHA mod, or some kind of hallucination [in the same vein as spells like phantasmal force or hallucinatory terrain]).

howdy! yes, the one year anniversary of me stopping the headcanons was the 15th. i can't believe it's been a year. (or maybe it was the 1st of september? heck, even i don't remember.)

my day is going... interestingly. i have nine days before i head into college, and... hoo boy, there's a mixed bag right there lol

but enough about me. how does someone get through high school...

well, there are several things a person can do. i won't talk about studying tips, those are fairly easy to google, and you'll have to work out what works for you.

the single most valuable piece of advice I can give is to ask for help before you need it, not during the height of a crisis. talk to your teachers, fellow students, and parents/guardians/found family at the beginning of the trouble, whatever it is. don't wait until the last minute, because it gives less time for people to accomodate you (if you need an extension on an assignment, for example) and it will leave them less time to lend a hand before something hits. and, the longer you procrastinate asking for help, the worse your stress level gets, and the harder it may be to ask due to shame.

it sucks, but if you get it out the way early, things will go much better for you.
