She works to suppress her shiver. “But you are right, of course, there’s more to this.”  Elena leans forward, gripping her glass tight, “what do you want from me?” He leans forward too, and she’s glad she has her necklace still, or she’d have no choice but to listen to him. “I think the more appropriate question, darling, is what I can do for you.” She blinks at that, her fingers turning white as she clenched the stem of her glass, “what’s that?” She’s interested now - this has never really happened before. People want her for what she can do for them, not the other way around. 

Just a little preview into my Lucien/Elena fic for AU-gust. It's supposed to go up on the 29th, but since I'm travelling, I'm not entirely sure I'll be able to publish it on time. In any case, I thought I'd leave this here, just in case.

Another AO3 thing I’m curious about, how do yall decide if something is good enough to read? Usually I follow a rule of 1 kudos for every 10 hits. One because it’s easy math and two it’s yet to fail me. Thoughts? Do you just go for it and pray it’s good?
