Hello I’m sorry to bother you but I’m looking for a fic that I had a tab to it and then lost it without ever reading it but I think I remember the summary.

It went a bit like the Starks and Parker’s were good co workers or family friends and when Peter’s parents died in a plane crash I think, Tony decided that he would take care of Peter in their stead. I think people disagree with his decision and Tony is like I’ll prove you wrong.

Casually, he typed into his phone’s search bar, ‘How to take care of a sick teenager.’ Although the devices autocorrect, promptly updated the search to ‘How to take care of a sick toddler.’ After noticing the unwarranted correction, he looked thoughtfully at Peter. The kid was lying pathetically across the couch, staring vacantly at some weird-looking cartoon on the television. Suddenly, the new search terms didn’t feel all that far off and he thought to himself, ‘Eh. Close enough.’

“Mr. Stark?” Peter hesitantly questioned from the edge of the kitchen.

Mr. Stark, hummed, brought his second cup of coffee for the morning up to his lips, and turned toward his name. “Yeah, kiddo?”

“I was just wondering,” Peter began, his body language screaming anxiety. “Do you think I could stay home from school today? I just- I don’t feel good.”

Mr. Stark raised an eyebrow and set his coffee aside. “Trying to skip school, are we?" he teased. "That doesn’t sound like you.”

“No seriously. Mr. Stark!” Peter rapidly replied. “I legitimately don’t feel good, and I already spoke to May. She said that if you confirmed I was actually sick, she’d call me out.”

Tony was mildly surprised. “You spoke to May?” The kid’s aunt had taken off for a grueling conference just a few days prior; which was why Peter was there on a Tuesday morning, to begin with. Of course, he and May both knew the kid was more than old enough to handle himself. They just didn’t particularly like the idea of him sitting alone in the apartment for a week. Turns out that was a good call because once he was actually looking, he realized Peter definitely looked sick. His eyes were glassy, and his face was thoroughly flushed.

“Yeah. I got off the phone with her a few minutes ago, actually,” Peter said, pulling Tony from his thoughts. “I just- I woke up and my throat kind of hurt and my nose was pretty stuffy. It’s probably just a cold or whatever but I’m tired and really don’t feel good. So I called her.”

Tony watched Peter fidget with the hem of his shirt and quirked a half-smile. “So I'm supposed to do what? Take your temperature?”

 It was a joke, of course. But taking care of a sick kid wasn’t something he actually had any experience with. It simply wasn’t a part of the unspoken co-parenting arrangement he and May had stumbled into. She had her territory and he had his. Though he supposed there was probably a little gray area in between. And maybe that’s where taking care of Peter while he was sick fell.

Flufftober Day 2: "You've Told Your Parents?"

A/N: The funny story about this one is that I wrote it in 2 different documents writing the first half for StarkBucks Bingo and the 2nd for Flufftober and then I realised that they were perfect together! I might continue this again at a later date (maybe with another flufftober prompt) enjoy for now!

It’s not that weird to be thinking about dinner at breakfast, right?

Bucky Barnes is a parent or at least a husband to a parent and so that means Bucky will sometimes find himself driving to Midtown high. “Up and at 'em Pete, you have an hour till we leave,” those words have found their way into Bucky’s traditional vocabulary and with no sound of movement, he goes back to knocking on the door. “Pete there’s french toast in the kitchen if you’re quick enough,” and with the sound of movement, Bucky smiles going back to breakfast.

In the kitchen sits Tony drinking the coffee Bucky had made that morning, which makes Tony much more reasonable in the morning. “Good morning,” Bucky lightly kisses Tony before going to make the french toast he promised Peter, “I’m making french toast, do you want some?” He asks beginning the process of turning on the stovetop and getting out a pan.

Tony laughs at his husband's gesture, “what puppy eyes did Peter throw at you to make french toast?” It’s not completely unreasonable for Tony to say this as Bucky really does want to make Peter feel at home so if that means french toast to wake him up Bucky will make french toast.

Shaking his head Bucky continues his morning process making another coffee while the pan and butter heat up. Then continuing to talk to Tony refuting the previous statement “no puppy-dog eyes just want him to feel comfortable.”

“You want him to wake up for school,” Tony teases at how evident his husband is, smirking as his son walks down the hallway, Peter comes to hug Tony from behind, “did you guilt trip Bucky into making french toast this morning?” Tony punches Peter as he moves onto the barstool next to his dad. 

Bucky flips the french toast off the pan and sighs “Peter did no such thing, I just wanted it to be a good day, it is a Monday after all.” Smiling, Bucky stacks the toast passing the plate to Peter who immediately digs in, “hey! Don’t stuff your face you’ll get sick,” Bucky points with the spatula.

Peter rolls his eyes but listens anyway slowing down his eating habits, “can we do take out for dinner tonight?” He asks between mouthfuls, Tony and Bucky both give him weird looks for it.

The confused looks come from the parents who just cooked breakfast, “we’re eating breakfast and you want to talk about dinner?” Tony questions, he knows Peter’s a hungry kid with a large metabolism but even then this is a weird request from Peter.

Swallowing Peter smiles looking at both of his dads, “I wanted to invite Harley over for dinner, but thought that it might be a big enough struggle to cook that takeout might be best, he really likes Chinese maybe we could do that?” Peter takes one big breath trying not to continue rambling as he normally would and that tells both his dads that this is extremely important to Peter. 

Looking between them both Bucky wants to make Peter comfortable and so he nods to Tony that he thinks this is a good idea. Tony finds himself satisfied by the nod, answering for both of them, “of course Pete you always know Harley is welcome here, but I would suggest that if you do want to invite him that you actually need to go to school first, “ Tony reminds looking at his own watch. 

Bucky smiles grabbing Peter’s school bag and throwing it at him “come on kiddo, time for school,” and Peter groans after him.

The bell rings signifying the end of not only a school day but also the end of any co-curricular classes or detention anybody may be serving. Peter Parker is excited as he quickly runs towards his boyfriend's locker with a large smile on his face. It may be late, but no better time to ask.

“Do you want to come to my place for dinner tonight,” Peter asks Harley as he leans on the other side of the now-closed set of lockers. With the day coming to a close and Peter and Harley supposed to walk home together after decathlon practice it seems like a good idea to ask now. Peter continues as Harley puts on his backpack, “It would just be my dad’s nobody else, I wouldn’t ask you to meet the team or anything I feel like that’s way too dramatic.” 

Harley smiles listening to his boyfriend struggling to string words together. Smiling he grabs Peter’s hand walking through the front of Midtown high, “have you told you’re parents?” Harley asks because that seems like the normal thing to do as he pulls out his phone to tell his mum that he’s spending dinner at the tower and that she won’t see him until he gets home. 

Peter stops in motion his eyes wide, arms swinging between stops and he whispers, “not about us, I haven’t said anything about us but, I could if you wanted me to I’m sure they’d be fine with I think I just would need a bit more time but if you want to then that’s okay.” The sentence comes out in one spur of words and Harley feels bad for putting these thoughts back into Peter’s head. 

Kissing Peter’s dimple Harley smiles back at him, “I was asking if you had asked your parents about if I was allowed to come to dinner tonight. Not about us, I understand if you’re not ready too, that is perfectly okay.” Harley kisses the other side of Peter’s face as his dimples come back with a smile on his face.  

They go back to holding hands both walking the 20-minute journey back to the tower hand in hand and smiles on their face the whole way back. At least before the impending doom when they walk into the tower walking hands, straight into Tony Stark, “what’s this?” His eyebrow raises at the pair.

But that is a story for another day.

So not sure I'll do anything with it but saw an incorrect quotes where Peter was like, tell the bad guys to stop praying for my downfall because they've got it. And I know the author probably meant it as funny but my brain could help but poke at it.

Like what if after Thanos, Tony survives but Peter still faces trial after trial without really ever recovering. But May and everyone just keep pushing him to be Spider-Man because people are counting on him especially with Cap out of commission and Tony missing an arm.

Sam and Bucky are off doing their thing with the military, and Wanda is who knows where so he's left to shoulder the burden, practically alone, as the face of modern superheroes and the leader of the next generation of Avengers. And Tony's his lifeline, supporting him and handling as much of the media crap he could, because Peter's still in HS and you can't really get an away program because you have a secret identity.

But eventually it's too much and Peter just ....collapses. He folds like a house of cards after an interview gone wrong where they go after him for what happened with Mysterio maybe or something else. He's 18 (only because they made him repeat an entire year of HS because of the snap), and doesn't even know if Tony's going to be able to fix the whole MIT thing, and everything is his fault.

Tony finds him curled in a ball crying, and after talking him down from the ledge, realizes the kid needs a break, like a real break. He and Pep are separated and doing the whole co-parenting thing anyway, so it's easy to carry Peter to a jet (and when had he gotten so light), and fly away to a remote location with only an AI and the bots.

May fights it at first but after the first time Peter lashes out and breaks things/ hurts himself, May steps back, because Tony's clearly prepared for a super human meltdown and their little apartment in Queens is most definitely not.

Tony tries to keep any codependency from developing but frankly he's old and lonely and Peter's desperate for someone that doesn't need or want anything from him. Maybe even just for release, someone to tell him what to do and make the choices so he doesn't have to.

And when they finally come home, Peter is smiling again, back at a healthy weight, but he moves in with Tony and stays there. Friday keeps him on a strict schedule, and he goes to Columbia or does MIT virtually but it's Tony he reports to and Tony who absolves him of guilt when being Spider-Man goes wrong. When the guilt eats him up, it's Tony who puts him on his knees and says I decide if it was bad or not, and helps Peter find solid ground again.

Peter confesses his fear to Tony, a few years into their relationship. That the man will die and Peter will follow shortly after because he can't do this without Tony anymore. So Tony digs through his old files, and starts with Cho and extremis, anything to extend his current life. And then he makes a back up. A fully developed AI version of him that could interface with the suits. Just in case plan A fails.

Since becoming Superior, Tony had not wanted for much. It was easy to put on a mask, smile at the right time and no one even noticed his eyes went from brown to blue or that he'd practically stopped aging. Nor did the few people he still cared about notice when he spiked their food with a watered down extremis at his birthday party. After Obie, and Killian, after New York, Tony wasn't willing to take chances any more.

And it turned out to be a very good thing after something tried to crash his systems and kill JARVIS. With his link up, he'd been able to initiate a complete shutdown of everything, isolating the threat quickly and with prejudice. The alpha played it off as a hardware failure, working quickly to restore everything even as he tightened his security around his files.

Time passed and Tony continued to shore up his power behind the scenes, schmoozing the right politicians, investing in everything from green energy to education, all the while building his reputation with the public. It was funny how no one noticed that it was only his image he was building, not the Avengers or even SI. He stood back as Rogers and the others drove themselves to ruin in the public opinion until he was the only hero worthy of being venerated with War Machine and the Falcon at his side. And oh had stealing Wilson from Rogers been the feather in his cap.

Now, he stood at the pinnacle of success with everything he wanted. Except for one thing.

Peter Parker.

The little omega had originally popped up on his radar years ago when he had started his Spider-man gig. He had been genuine enough that Tony had sponsored him discreetly, providing a new suite with an AI, ostensibly to help the pup stay out of trouble, but also to monitor him in case he started to stray from the path like so many heroes before him. And yet, as the years passed and the boy finished high school, he never strayed. Tony updated the suit on occasion, and repaired it when the AI deemed it necessary, but otherwise, he simply stood back.

Tony hadn’t been expecting much when he cleared out the traffickers trying to encroach on his space. "You don't seem to want to get out of here. Can you tell me why?" Tony asked, doing his best to appear casual. The boy looked like he'd spook if Tony so much as raised his voice.

"Please don't make me go back there, sir, please," the kid whispered.

"Go back where, kid?"

"To the group home."

Peter managed to shrink even further into himself as he answered and Tony couldn't help but narrow his eyes.

"You're an orphan then, kid?"

"Yes, sir."

"They handed you over, didn't they?" It wouldn't be the first time Tony had heard of it happening. Teenage boys were known for being trouble and running away from group homes even when they were run well. Given the shitty system in place, it would be so easy to hide kidnappings among the missing children.

Peter nodded and flinched when Tony lifted his hand to touch the boy's face.

"Abused you too, didn't they." It was less a question and more a confirmation. Still, Peter nodded and tears welled up in the boy's eyes. Tony felt his chest twinge, even as a flash of rage ran through him. His own father had been an abusive asshole which was why Tony was so strict about the actions of his men and what he would tolerate in his territories.

The first thing Tony always did with a new patient was find out what had already been tried. Tony waited for the boy to follow his instructions, then waited a few moments longer until the tension slowly eased.

The Birds and The Bees

Peter’s internship was on Tuesday and Thursday. The weekends were optional, but the kid made a point to show up on either Saturday or Sunday. Tony looked forward to those days. They worked in the lab, figuring out all possible improvements to the spider suit or tinkered with some of Tony’s inventions, and if the kid wasn’t feeling up to anything, they’d simply order pizza and watch a movie.

That, however, began to change.

“Sorry, Mr. Stark. I won’t be able to make it this Thursday.”

“We have a big test on Monday, so we’ll be studying the whole weekend.”

“Decathlon practice got moved, can’t make it today.”

“I’m helping to move some furniture as Spider-Man tomorrow, don’t wait for me.”

Now, don’t get him wrong, the kid has cancelled a session here and there before. That’s why he hasn’t picked on anything suspicious the last few weeks. Life happened, Tony understood. Not everyone was a superhero billionaire able to cancel and reschedule things without repercussions.

The final nail in the coffin came in the form of Peter last-minute cancelling every single session these last two weeks.

There was only one possible explanation.

Peter was avoiding him.

The next Monday, Tony walked into a quiet coffee shop, heading straight for their – well, “their” – booth. May was already there, looking at the menu.

He slid into the seat opposite of her. “Hey, May.”

“Hey, Tony,” she greeted with a smile, setting the menu aside.

After the whole Homecoming disaster and the kid’s accidental identity reveal to his aunt – and the following yelling, tears and negotiations – Tony and May came to an agreement to meet once a month to discuss their spiderling. May would talk about Peter’s grades, and Tony about the internship and adjoined activities. If either of them found something unsatisfactory, they would push the kid into the right direction.

Peter not getting enough sleep or his grades slipping? Reduce patrol time. May worrying about his safety? Work on upgrading the suit.

Sure, he could push the responsibility onto Pepper, but ultimately decided against it in fear for his own safety. She and May were in a different (terrifying) league, already got along too well, and with the kid having Pepper wrapped around his finger, Tony would be the one to receive the scolding even though it was Peter’s chemical reaction that covered the walls with extra sticky webs, Pepper, I swear it wasn’t my fault—

Anyway…

Placing their usual order for chocolate cappuccino and butter croissant for May and black coffee and blueberry muffin for himself, they went over their “checklist”. Grades were great, the kid was healthy, and his social life hasn’t suffered.

Usually, Tony would’ve already known that Peter aced the big chemistry exam or was helping Ned build a new Lego set. He could keep smiling and nodding along, pretending that everything was okay, but May’s threat of “ripping him a new one” if he kept something from her again made him reconsider.

“He’s avoiding me,” he admitted. “I have no idea what I did, but he’s avoiding me. Every time we are supposed to meet, he has some excuse.”

And then May laughed at him. Well, more like chuckled, but still.

“Don’t worry, he’s not ditching you or anything,” she said, wiping her mouth with a napkin. “He’s just spending time with his girlfriend. You know how beginnings of relationships are. First, they can’t get enough of each other, and once the lovey-dovey stage passes, it’s more or less back to normal.”

“Oh. Okay. That’s good then.” Tony reached for his cup and took a long sip, tension bleeding from his shoulders. So, the kid hasn’t suddenly decided to ditch him. He was just being a teenager, doing teenager-y things and spending time with his—

Wait…

Tony spat out the coffee.

Tony’s phone pinged, the shrill sound feeling like a sledgehammer hitting his skull.

Groaning, he blindly felt for his phone. Damn hangover. Tony felt exactly zero desire to deal with whatever was sent to him right now, but Obie said he should be more responsible.

Ugh, where was that damn phone? He knew it was there somewhere… aha! Tony’s eye opened a smidge as his fingers closed around the device and pulled it to his face. What he didn’t account for was the brightness of the screen and his eye was immediately getting stabbed with what felt like a hundred pins.

“Shit,” he grumbled under his breath. Trying again, it took him a good ten seconds to realize what he was looking at.

Oh, right. That was from Mary and the baby in the picture was a result of their drunken one-night stand. Something had failed and… well, the result was there. Tony had no desire to be a father, but Mary assured him that she had a boyfriend who was willing to raise the baby as his own, since he couldn’t have his own because of some illness that killed the man’s brother.

So, a lucky accident.

The first and the last time (as he’d hoped) he’d seen the baby was when he’d been born. Tony hadn’t been there longer than five minutes – just long enough to give his congratulations. Mary had thanked him as she cuddled the ugly, wrinkly potato, her now-husband’s hand on her shoulder and a look of total adoration on his face.

Still, Tony couldn’t fathom why Mary sent him the picture. She’d said they didn’t want anything from him back then, that they had enough resources to raise him… maybe she thought of him as an awkward or proud man that didn’t know how to reach out and ask about the kid’s well-being, so she sent this?

Well, the baby obviously did well. They were obviously a big, happy family.

And with that, Tony switched off the phone, threw it back on the bedside table and buried his face into his pillow.

The chandeliers casted a soft glow over the room, adding to the already sophisticated vibe of the event. A quartet played somewhere in the corner as Tony gulped down another glass of champagne. A few more minutes and then he could ditch this event. He’s already found a company for the night.

Two couples passed him, the women gushing about wanting one of their own to their partners.

He glanced to the direction where the pairs came from to see a small group of people started to dissolve. For reasons unknown to him, it sparked Tony’s curiosity.

It’s gotta be something interesting if so many people are interested in it.

He still had time until his company returned, so why not check it out in the meantime?

The last couple of guests left just as Tony got there. A single woman remained at the table, her back facing him. And when she turned, Tony wished he would’ve never come here. The chatter and music faded into the background, feeling almost like an invisible barrier pulled them out of time and space.

She worked closely with Steve Rogers after he was injected with the super soldier serum, helping him to become the world’s first superhero. However, after losing him, and maybe in an attempt to feel closer to him after his supposed death, Peggy allowed herself to be injected with a copycat serum Howard created. She took the place Steve left behind as Captain Carter. Seeing as the serum has dramatically slowed her aging process, she still works with SHIELD in smaller capacities as most of her attention has been on the Avenger following the Battle of New York.

Here's a quick little rec on a Monday morning. It's no secret that I'm a May Parker stan and an irondad fan, and if there's one thing I love most in this fandom, it's Tony Stark and May Parker co-parenting Peter Parker. Just did a re-read of this excellent piece, and I thought I'd share the joy!

"If someone had told May that Iron Man himself would one day occasionally show up uninvited to her quiet little apartment and intrude into her quiet little life, she would have laughed them out of the room. But then her life seems chock-full of unpleasant surprises these days.

Or, Tony Stark wants a bigger piece of the pie. May Parker learns to accept help. Peter just wants to keep the peace."

Why do I love this piece? There are SO many reasons. It's told fully in May's pov as she adjusts to finding out and learning to accept that her kid is Spider-Man and everything that comes with that. This May is feisty, imperfect, overwhelmed, and a fiercely protective mother to Peter, while learning to let him have his independence as Spider-Man. May and Peter's relationship is wonderful in this, and you get a sense of how much they love and support each other and are a team. The interactions between May and Tony are genuinely so much fun. Starting antagonistic, bonding over their shared love for their vigilante spider-kid, and eventually warming to a friendship and respect that is clearly good for both of them. Bonus points for the spider bite causing Peter to do some weird things sometimes, and a scene involving two tired parental figures wishing their kid's teenage rebellion was a little more typical. The writing style is a joy to read and easily pulls you in. Xo
