“do you want me to keep touching you?” a nod. eyes closed. they don’t trust their voice.

tracing invisible shapes on their palm, the kind you used to draw when you were kids. “i remembered you liked this. i didn’t forget.”

arms around their waist from behind — “i don’t want you to think you have to be strong all the time.”

brushing their knuckles over a scar you didn’t know they had. “does it still hurt?” “not when you do that.”

falling asleep with your head on their chest, hearing their heartbeat steady for the first time in forever.

“you’re shaking.” “i haven’t been held in a long time.”

hugging them like you’re afraid they’ll disappear. and them hugging back harder.

“i know i don’t say it often but... i miss being close to you.”

they hesitate before leaning into your hand — then cling to it like they’ll fall apart without it.

“can you just… stay like this?” the words are small. the need is loud.

letting them cry silently into your hoodie, not asking questions. just staying. just being there.

you offer your hand. they stare at it like it’s the sun. like they forgot warmth existed.

“i’m scared.” “me too. but you don’t have to be alone this time.”

“Are you okay, your face seems a little red…” The question is so soft that Ash barely hides her smile, shrugging and playing with Emi’s bracelet a little where she’d grabbed her wrist earlier. She was still learning to believe that Emi had always wanted her, that she wasn’t some consolation prize to the other woman. “I’m okay…. You’re just really hot when you get angry…” “Asshole should learn to back off when someone tells them to go away.” Emi mutters but smiles at Ash’s blush deepening. “You’re into protective?” “I’m into you… the protective is hot because it’s you.” Emi laughs then, letting her free hand cup Ash’s cheek, kissing her softly. “I’m glad you think so.”

Touch Starved Prompts

It was strange to touch each other without one of them dying, but maybe touch was also something for the living.

Like magnets they moved together, pressing into each other's warmth.

There always needed to be a reason, an excuse for their bodies to touch.

Being touch-starved and needy was really starting to mess with their reputation as a tough guy.

It was like their skin was calling out for the other's gentle touch.

They didn't like to be touched by just anyone. But that didn't mean they didn't also crave it sometimes.

A coldness took over their body that only the warmth of another person could erase.

They wanted to be touched, to be missed, to be loved. Was that too much to ask for?

Leaning onto each other, just being close, was enough.

Their bodies fitting together like they always were intended to become one.

merlin gets sick. like. bad sick. maybe its a curse maybe its natural idk all i know is that merlin gets sick. he has a fever so high he is somewhat delirious. his whole body hurts. he feels like death. he ends up traversing the castle to enter arthur’s chambers and climbs into bed next to him. he was in pain and felt like shit and in his delirious state, he went to the one person who could always offer him comfort. arthur wakes to find merlin curled up next to him, his tunic fisted tightly in his hand as if to keep arthur where he was. gaius quietly walks in and extracts merlin from the bed, apologizing and explaining that merlin was ill and delirious with the fever. merlin is being tugged out of bed, away from arthur.

he’s fighting as best he can which, considering he’s sick, isn’t that good as gaius doesn’t even blink. then merlin is being dragged across the room, away from arthur and his body heat which was chasing away the chills and his touch was easing his pain. merlin starts complaining, whining more like, about how he wants arthur. gaius apologizes again and says he’ll send for a replacement to serve him before finally getting merlin out of arthur’s chambers and back to his own bed. gaius steps out for an hour to retrieve herbs from the town and returns to finds arthur curled around merlin in his little cot in his room, merlin fisting arthur’s tunic and arthur’s hand rubbing up and down merlin’s back.

FAVE TOUCH STARVED WHUMPEE THINGS! coming right up! there are so so many things i love here but here’s a handful of them:

the way it physically hurts. hurts in their body, the way their bones ache and they feel cold to their core and their skin feels too tight and wrong. they know what would fix it, how they would feel better, but they can’t acknowledge it. they can’t ask for this.

the shame. the SHAME of it all.

when touch starvation is combined with traumatic touch aversion. touch has been somehow turned into a dangerous and frightening and traumatic thing they had no choice in. but they still want and need this. they’re both equally powerful and so they need something that they fear. they need someone it’s safe to get it from, but how can they explain it? how can they explain that they need something that terrifies them but they still need it, and need help from the person they need it from to make it safe and okay?

when it’s so overwhelming they choke up and can barely speak when they finally get touch, causing the person touching them to be afraid they’re making things worse, going to pull away, and whumpee crying harder and hanging on tight.

skin contact. direct skin to skin touch - cupping whumpee’s face or neck, cuddling in little clothing, helping them bathe. the extra layer of intimacy and intensity to the touch being so direct.

whumpee feeling like they’re doing something wrong when they seek out touch or ask for it. they don’t deserve it, there’s something wrong with them for wanting it, they’re dirty or ruined in some way. the person they want it from, feel safe with, isn’t a romantic partner or a biological parent or someone else really socially accepted to want touch from.

the thing where people assume whumpee won’t want touch after what’s happened to them, or think because of their fear and flinching and shrinking in on themself that it’s too triggering. meanwhile whumpee thinks that no one WANTS to touch them. miscommunication abounds, heightening the eventual moment when whumpee is finally touched.

Living Weapon Whumpee having a bad day after one of the missions and finding the team they're assigned to sitting around and playing cards. Whumpee getting down on their knees next to one of the team members and hesitantly resting their head against the team member's thigh. Whumpee silently begging to be pet like a dog or at least just allowed to say here because they just haven't positive, non-painful human contact in years and they're just... cold.

Bonus points if they choose the member of the team that hates them the worst because that's the one they feel the biggest need to please.

that big hug in the airport when character A comes home for a holiday. B runs into their arms and squeezes them so tight that A is thinking they might break a rib.

character B feeling character A’s hand on the small of their back while going through a crowd.

character A knows exactly when character B needs cuddles. long day at work? cuddles. didn’t get enough sleep? cuddles.

Character B is away on a trip (either with friends or for work) and Character A is laying awake in their empty bed. the only thing that can get A to sleep each night is a long phone call with their favourite person. telling B about their day calms them down enough for sleep. and they do it all again the next day.

“we don’t have to talk about yet it if you don’t want to. we can just lay here like this, just relax into my arms.” one whispers in the others ear.

Character A is worried about coming off as too clingy and first. Once Character B realised how much A thrives on physical touch, they make sure they set aside enough time each day to just hold them.

If they ever go to bed while in an argument Character B still wraps an arm around Character A, knowing that they won’t sleep without it and to let them know they still love them although they’re arguing.

Touch starved Whumpee who finally got a hug they actually liked.

But after, that's all they got. There is no next hug, no more touch. They don't know how to ask for more, don't even really know what's happening.

They start to subconsciously rub their hands over their arms, grip objects tighter, shiver without reason... and suddenly they realize how much they miss it.

Maybe they feel sad about it, and get anxious. Or maybe they're angry at themselves, and lock it all away again. Telling themselves to stop, this is stupid. 'They don't need it.'

There's just something so cathartic about a Whumpee who collapses into someone's arms, clinging to them as if this is their last chance at comfort.

I love a Whumpee who are just so worn down that all they can do is lay in someone's lap, sobbing at the warmth, even if it is just Whumper's lap.

A Whumpee whose chin fits perfectly in the crook of Caretaker's neck as they struggle to stay upright on shaking legs is exactly where it's at.

Perhaps Whumpee needs a weighted blanket or one of those heatable stuffed animals to sleep without nightmares.

The other witchers at Kaer Morhen have always grown tired of Geralt's random moodswings and bouts of gloom and grumpiness during the winter. He'd be happy and carefree, safe in his home, and then some dark thought would crest in his mind, and for a few days straight, he'd be in a horrible mood. When one year he brings his bard with him, they realize the moodswings have disappeared completely. That is, until Jaskier starts trying to "bond" with them all and spends less time with Geralt. Then all of a sudden the snarls and snaps from Geralt are back. One day, Lambert gets tired of Geralt's sass, and shoves Jaskier at him, and they're all amazed when Geralt loses his bad mood and instead chooses to carry his bard off to cuddle in front of the fireplace. Nuzzling him and purring the whole time. Thus commences a new rule of Kaer Morhen. If you spot Geralt being pissy, you chuck the bard at him. Jaskier has been taken away from a meal, a game of gwent, his chores, his bed while asleep, and one especially embarrassing time he was taken from a bath. Jaskier is quite alright with the new rule, as it always ends in deligthtful Geralt cuddles, but sometimes he wishes Geralt would just find Jaskier instead of moping when he misses him.
