New Mature Content Warning Overlay (And How to Get Rid of It)
More fun community label "features"! Unlike the new mandatory label for #NSFW, this one is a bigger deal to me because it affects my entire blog and it can't be avoided by just using a different tag.
Apparently on custom blog layouts, if you happen to post or reblog even a SINGLE post that's been flagged with the mature content community label, a full-page warning overlay will appear blurring out your entire blog that must be manually clicked through every single time the page is refreshed. At first I thought this was just a bug due to my older layout but I've come to realize it's not. It's a feature (as confirmed by this recent changes post) that affects all custom themes. The formatting will vary based on your own theme but here's what it looks like on my blog:
Tumblr media
I don't know about you but I find this is stupid and annoying. If it could be dismissed once and never seen again that might be one thing, but that's not the case. The vast majority of my blog is not "mature" enough to warrant such an aggressive and invasive warning. I also think pop-ups are obnoxious in general and I'll be damned if tumblr's going to force me to have one on MY blog.
After some desperate googling for a known workaround and being unable to find even a single mention of it, I decided to take on the challenge myself. I'm not a theme coder, so apologies if there's a better way to do this, but luckily it only took me like 10 minutes to figure out a simple fix, which I'm now sharing with anyone else who may want it:
.community-label-cover__wrapper {display: none}
Just copypaste that somewhere in your CSS and goodbye pop-up!
If you're not sure how to access your theme code, check out this help article. You can also add the code via the Advanced Options menu, which is actually even better (if you can get it to work, it depends on how your theme was coded), because it will then automatically be reapplied to a lot of themes without having to remember to manually add it every time if you change your theme in the future.
Obviously this will only remove it from your own blog for anyone who may visit it. If you never want to see this warning again on other people's blogs you can also add this custom filter to your ad block:
tumblr.com##.community-label-cover__wrapper
Unfortunately I do not have an easy tutorial on hand for this one as the method will depend on your specific ad block app or extension.
Some additional notes:
After adding the theme code and saving the changes, give it a minute to update as it sometimes takes a little while for the page to refresh.
The warning overlay only seems to appear if a "mature" post is on the FIRST page of your blog, which is still annoying and makes the whole thing even more pointless and stupid because what if someone visits any other page of your blog, and oh no, happens to see "mature" content they weren't warned about?!
The warning also appears on direct links to "mature" posts.
This hack has NOTHING to do with entire blogs that have been flagged as NSFW. It only works for non-flagged blogs with custom themes that happen to have individual "mature" posts.

"We don’t even know how the human brain works in full and you’re over here trying to diagnose (or un-diagnose?) random teens on tumblr because you think them applying to themselves a label that makes sense to them is harming any of you?" The "endogenic" label is harming the OSDDID community. Actively so, actually, by examples you provided. You mentioned yourself that some people may self-identify as endogenic because their trauma has been deeply hidden and buried within their mind. If you are diagnosed with DID or OSDD, that is a childhood trauma disorder. It confirms that there is trauma that happened in your childhood- and the best, healthiest option for you would be to find where it is being held, and help that part of you process the trauma, usually through therapy. It may be long, and grueling, but it is ten thousand times healthier than denying you have any trauma and never working through it.
Now, let's say you are diagnosed with DID or OSDD, and instead of following the recommendations, you instead say "Nope! I'm endogenic which means I have no trauma! My entire system is actually just here because God willed it! (real explanation some people give)" Despite the fact that this person has a CHILDHOOD TRAUMA DISORDER, and there is ZERO significant medical research even suggesting you can have DID without childhood trauma, you go on to deny you have any trauma and keep it deeply buried. You have switching triggers that don't understand. You blackout for days. You are dealing with constant mental anguish and symptoms of unresolved trauma, all because you have used something based on no medical science to deny that your childhood trauma disorder is caused by childhood trauma.
So yes, creating an outlet for people with a very serious and debilatating childhood trauma disorder to deny their trauma is, very much, harming us.
Okay so here’s the thing, anon. You are not these peoples psychiatrists. You are not their therapists. You do not know them. You are making blanket assumptions about their mental health based on tumblr posts. Do you realize how asinine that is?
Do you not realize how insane it is for you to say “these people are suppressing trauma in an unhealthy way because I read their tumblr bio and they used word I don’t like so I know them better than they do!”? You realize that’s insane, right?
And again, I cannot emphasize this one enough, if you have multiple guys in your brain meat, you’re a system. You can go full armchair psychiatrist and try to gatekeep plurality for… whatever unhinged reason you use to justify that, but ultimately if a person is actually people I kinda think they’re gonna know that about themselves better than you do. Attacking random mentally ill strangers online and trying to force them to unearth a childhood trauma isn’t exactly making you the hero of the story.

Honestly, I find it also quite telling that it is always demanded of mspec lesbians to historically prove their right to exist as their identity. I just feel like, with all the stuff about "transgenderism is a modern trend" and "xenogenders & neopronouns are a modern trend", and all of us always needing to prove with history that we exist, it becomes quite obvious what lesbian exclusionism and lesbian separatism is: just another form of denying people their identities.
The moment you demand someone to prove their identity based on whether it is "new" and "modern" or actually historically documented, you are a shithead, because 1) no one has to prove their identity to you 2) no one's identity has to be around for a longer time to be valid 3) a lot of queer history has been erased, so there's that 4) a lot of queer history is very normative and focused on binarist views on queerness
I am radically inclusionist, because I am convinced that it helps no one if we exclude people based on prescriptivist definitions of labels. The "radical" has been assigned to me by people who wanted the good sound of "inclusionist", but didn't feel like committing to actually including everyone. Yet still, I will take that term with pride, because in our anti-queer society as well as a very policing queer community, yes, it seems to be a radical act to not exclude.
And that is also why those going against me hate the idea of "including all good-faith identities", because it is a pure principle that you can either commit to, or not. The moment you start making exceptions is when you betray that principle. Which is also why there are no "inclusionists" who exclude mspec lesbians. Because they are, as result of their exclusionist stance, exclusionists.
Even less surprising then is the entire force that is used against the word "queer". Its usage as liberating term exceeds by far the use it allegedly found as a "slur". Heck, people use "gay" ten times more as a slur, especially nowadays, and I don't see people going against the reclamation of that term. No, the people taking issue with "queer" that I have encountered so far were, by majority... too young to even have experienced the alleged great usage of it as a "slur". They take issue with the word, because unlike acronyms like LGBTQIA+, it also conveys a stance - that we are weird, yes. By which is meant, yes, we go against norms. We go against regulations of a gendered heteronormative patriarchal society. Our identities may fall in line with their views here and there, but we don't adhere to them, because we are who we are without bending ourselves to what others want us to be. This spirit goes against everything exclusionists and separatists try to do. This spirit is much more common here on tumblr, so no wonder Twitter exclusionists don't feel welcome here at all (and they shouldn't!).
The only reason why history is brought into this entire matter in the first place is that they've tried to use history against us. They've tried to use revisionist radfem history to exclude us just like lesbian separatism has done in the past. Only for them to be proven wrong by those who managed to dig deep enough into the history of the lesbian label. And yet, still, we don't need that history to prove our validity. Because we are here, we are queer, and proud of all that we are, not giving up any of our identities to please others.

Welcome to The Bad Batch Appreciation Week 2023!!!
The time for appreciating Clone Force 99 is near! The prompts have been revealed HERE, so we must set some rules. Seems fair, right? So, here they are:
Event Info & Rules
TBB APPRECIATION WEEK is a week-long, prompt-based creation challenge to celebrate our love for the Batchers and the show. There are 7 groups of prompts—one for each day of the week—, which can be used, skipped, or combined in any way you’d like. They are meant to be an inspiration without being taken literally (i.e., you don’t have to include the exact wording of prompts in your work). Feel free to interpret them at your convenience. For example, if the prompt is “anooba”, you can create either something about the animal, use it as a name/mascot of a sports team in your modern-day/our Earth AU, or as an analogy for someone with a voracious appetite. It’s up to you.
Each group contains a character plus 5 different prompts (SFW, AU/Trope, Dialogue, NSFW, and a color palette). As it says above, you can use any, some, or all of them. Also there's also a short list of jokers/alternatives that you can use only one time each to replace any of the main prompts. The idea is to give everyone as much creative freedom as possible. The participants can create works in any media they choose, including but not limited to: writing, art, edits, gifs, videos, playlists, cosplays, etc. The only restriction is that it needs to be focused on The Bad Batch.
Also, people can participate as much or as little as they want, meaning that you don’t have to do ALL the days if you can't/ don’t want to.
Collaborations are welcome and even encouraged. For example, if an artist and a writer want to work together, or a writer and a podficcer, or two writers, go for it!
When uploading TBB Appreciation Week content to your Tumblr blog, be sure to mention this blog and add the following hashtags:
#tbbaw2023
#the character of the day
#day 1, #day 2, #day 3, etc… (the corresponding day)
#medium (gifset, fic, podcast, fanart, etc.)
#trigger warnings, if applies. (Please do NOT to add “tw” in front or at the end but only use the word/trigger itself, because the way Tumblr tag blocker feature works, it makes it harder for people to block the right tag.) (List of trigger warnings)
#prompt(s) used
#nsfw (only for NSFW content)
#any other relevant tags go here
PLEASE BE DILIGENT WITH YOUR TAGGING (both by mentioning the blog and putting the necessary tags). That'll ensure that your post will be reblogged on this blog.
I'll do my best to reblogged everyone's posts, but if it passes 2–3 days and I haven't posted yours, please let me know.
In addition, you can also add your work to the Ao3 Collection if you want.
If you are posting NSFW fics or art on Tumblr, I ask that you use the Keep Reading break and/or the Community Labels to hide the NSFW portion of your work; and please, give the proper warnings; (If you don't know how to do a keep reading break on mobile, go to this tutorial). On Ao3, please, use the correct rating and warnings as well.
There won't be censorship in this event, so everyone is free to create whatever they want. Participants are expected to hold judgment to themselves of others and their works, even if they don't agree with or find it repulsive. That means that harassment of anyone or anything that they post (even if said work is something you personally find morally reprehensible) WILL NOT BE TOLERATED. Anyone that breaks this rule will be banned from the event. Curate your own experience by blocking what upsets/squicks/triggers you, and leave everyone else alone. That's the importance of the correct tagging, as it says above.
If an author or artist has asked for constructive criticism, you may give it (with constructive being the keyword). However, refrain to give any of the unsolicited kind, as it can be discouraging for the author or artist.
Important!! Show support to other participants by liking, reblogging, AND commenting. But most of all, HAVE FUN!!! This is meant to be a lay-back event to show love for our favorite characters.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you all come up with!
If you have questions, you can check out the F.A.Q post. But if you don't find there the answer you're looking for, send me a message to the ask box or a DM, either in this blog or my fandom blog @nimata-beroya.
Thanks for reading, and happy creating!

What do you want to see/read more with heroes and villains?
This is a great question, and I can only hope that I'm both doing it justice and also interpreting it correctly...
I suppose I'm not quite sure. If I'm being perfectly honest, I haven't quite been active in the hero/villain community on Tumblr in at least a year. The concept was staring to bore me, and I soon felt pigeonholed by the same broad labels that were supposed to be freeing for my writing.
As you've probably noticed, I haven't been very active on this blog recently. I'm writing a lot of fanfiction on AO3 and my other Tumblr... and now, I find that when I have the itch to write, I turn to fan fiction because it has pre-established characters and universes that I can then bend to my own will and desires. It's much easier to avoid the pitfalls that can plague the hero/villain content, because there is already at least some minimum foundation of knowledge required for fanfiction pieces to be comprehensible to the audience.
With that said, I think I'd like to read more hero & villain pieces that utilize one or more of the following qualities:
Satire. I really enjoy pieces that—to some degree of consciousness—have a sense of awareness. It doesn't necessarily matter how this awareness is cultivated, but it can manifest in different ways. Here are some examples that come to the top of my head:
the hero thinking about their role [either in life or in the story] as a hero, and how this commitment to heroism influences their own actions. sometimes, this shows through in their backstory; other times, this shows through in their own conceptualization as a hero.
same thing goes for the villain–how they interpret their own villainy can have a massive impact on the story. how do they see themself? do they think themself to be evil—and if so, to what degree—or perhaps taking on the burdens that others aren't courageous enough to take?
some acknowledgment of existing tropes. I've seen this executed quite well in a simple moment of dialogue, with a hero or villain poking fun at the situation they find themself in. humor is an effective weapon during moments of tension in stories, and it also introduces a new feeling to a concept that may already exist elsewhere. (but, again, as I'm sure most of you have seen, if humor is the only thing going for the piece, then it is likely going to feel uncomfortable or even cringey. gotta have some balance!)
I also enjoy pieces that don't spotlight romance. This is mostly because, a lot of times, the romance can feel either rushed, forced, cliche, or a combination of any of these. A hero falls in love with a villain, forbidden relationship, blah, blah, bLAH. It's been done a million times before. And, honestly? There's much more nuance and creativity in the components of a rivalry/tense alliance/hard-won friendship than in a hero/villain love story. Don't get me wrong, romance can really enhance a story—but I prefer it to show through in smaller actions and ambiguous, undefined relationships. It feels more meaningful that way.
Lastly, I'd say that I really enjoy stories that use a hero/villain dynamic but show it through different characters. This can show through in mythical beings, creatures, and humans that aren't a "hero" or a "villain." Detectives, pirates, vampires, fairies, aliens... There's nearly limitless potential!
The truth of the matter, in my opinion, is that the hero & villain dynamic has already been thoroughly explored. This community on Tumblr has been around for a while. Selfishly speaking, I miss the days when heroes & villains were a new and fresh concept—when the tag didn't have many followers and there was an air of excitement and intrigue to it all. About a year (and a half?) ago, I got so frustrated with this that I purged my entire blog and nearly deleted all my work.
The reasons I've detailed are why I've been recently struggling to write the dynamic. I don't want to create something that has already been created and, unfortunately, that is very difficult to accomplish now. But! This question has gotten the rusty cogs of my motivation to start whirring away. I'm going to challenge myself to utilize and uphold these standards I have listed out here.

I understand in theory why tumblr staff decided it was a good idea for people to be able to flag/suggest a community label on posts they didn’t make, but in practice it’s a horrible idea & means that transphobes, queerphobes, and just…prudes in general, have the power to penalize art they don’t like. :(
Community labels are an ok idea, but I prefer not to use them and just tag appropriately, and if it’s text, put things under a read more. I think it’s just such a terrible idea. I’ve had some of my non-sexual nude art get a forced community label on it for “sexual” stuff and it’s so frustrating because community labels massively shrink the reach of the piece. I wish they would take away the ability to “suggest” a label on someone else’s post. We already have a process for genuinely harmful content, or content that you personally don’t want to see— flag and/or block, or unfollow, people can block posts, blogs, & whole tags very easily. In the long run this process generally works & doesn’t harm the reach of artists.
But the ability to “suggest” a label & get tumblr to force a label on a piece of art that may not be applicable (sometimes it’s non sexual nudity, sometimes it’s just queer!) — directly harms artists, and I’ve never had an appeal be listened to. Someone suggests a label and it just kneecaps the piece :(

build your own dashboard! we'll give you such exciting options as
triggering content you specifically have in your muted and blocked words tab but we will make sure to show you every single time
people that you have blocked but they're still in your orbit because all of your fake friends love them too so we're going to keep showing it to you even though you've told us repeatedly that you don't want to be around those specific people
stranger things
borderline AI generated porn that we will put in five videos at the top that you can never actually turn off but we can let you snooze them every 7 days and pretend that that's an option and not a forced feature
and do not be one of those dirty trans and post yourself because we will flag your disgusting fucking face but we will constantly allow nsfw ads to lead you to a clickbait website where you can get all kinds of spam and porn! should you ever talk about wanting gender affirming surgery though we will immediately mark it with a mature community label but if terfs harass you it may take us weeks to respond.
welcome to Tumblr!

I feel like I am beating a dead horse here but, sex positive is not the same thing as liking sex or kink or being really into sex or kink.
I see a lot of people nowadays who call themselves sex positive and may even post in the sex positive tag on Tumblr, who seem to have some trouble with boundaries and need to hear this.
Sex Positive:
accepting and affirming everyone's sexual attraction, fantasies, kinks, or desires, regardless of what they are and regardless of whether or not you relate to them or feel comfortable with them.
accepting and affirming positive, consensual sexual activity, and also accepting and affirming people's choices not to engage in any sexual activity they don't want to
supporting people's right to express themselves sexually with other people who want to engage with those expressions. supporting people's rights to have spaces where they can talk about sex and be sexually explicit, create and share sexually-explicit works, etc.
Not Sex Positive:
only affirming or accepting attractions, fantasies, or kinks that you experience or relate to, and shaming or reacting with negativity to people who express ones you dislike or are uncomfortable with
thinking it is okay to act on any fantasy or desire in any way IRL
sexually assaulting or raping someone (CNC and/or dubcon kink is okay, actual non-consent or dubious consent is not okay, only full enthusiastic consent is okay IRL)
making unwanted sexual advances or continuing to flirt or engage in sex talk after someone has told you to stop
sexually harassing people or making unsolicited sexual advances with people you don't know and who haven't expressed any openness to it
posting sexually-explicit content in settings where minors are likely to be present (yes, this includes making tagged tumblr posts without using community labels in tags, minors might be browsing those tags)
otherwise forcing your sexuality on people without their consent
coming into spaces (this includes certain Tumblr tags) people use to share or connect with others about certain sex- or kink-related content that is being properly labeled and tagged, and then reacting negatively to that content and/or harassing its creators.
Like no, you're not being "sex positive" by posting erotic content, without community labels, in widely-used Tumblr tags. You're not being "sex positive" by sending people unsolicited sexually-explicit pictures or messages. You're not being "sex positive" by running your mouth about your fantasies in DM's without reading people's blog bios and pinned posts and respecting their boundaries. And you're not being "sex positive" if you speak negatively about ace-spectrum people, sex-repulsed people, or people who are more reserved about sex. You are not "sex positive" if you uncritically use words like "prude" or "slut" (reclaiming these terms for yourself is okay, using them as slurs is definitely not okay, and using them to refer to someone you don't know is an area where I recommend treading very lightly.) You're not being "sex positive" if you publicly comment about someone's fanfic or personal fantasy being gross or bad or that making them a bad person. (If they overstepped a boundary, criticize them only for that, because that's the only thing they did wrong.)
And yes I am not just talking to men here, being a woman does not make it magically okay for you to do these things. Frustrating that I need to say this but I definitely need to say it.

༊*·˚ a helpful guide about trigger, content and tumblr warnings
Tumblr media
༊*·˚ tumblr warnings
↳ ❝ tumblr has community labels that can be toggled in the settings of your accounts. these can be used if your posts have sexual themes, violence or drugs/alcohol. tumblr may notice that your content needs to be put under certain warnings and automatically do it but these can also be used if you do not want to see any content under those labels. ❞
༊*·˚ trigger warnings
↳ ❝ tw = trigger warning. this is to indicate that the content is potentially triggering for some parties, usually based on trauma. this can be in relation, but not limited, to posts with death, violence, mental illness or other topics. these are more about the heavier triggers that people can have and a way to inform them about the content of what is being spoken about so they can avoid it. ❞
༊*·˚ content warnings
↳ ❝ cw = content warning. this is to warn about certain subjects that are broader and less triggering for a wider audience such as nsfw content or food. typically content that isn't rooted in trauma. these are to help inform people of the content of what is usually being shown or spoken about so they can avoid it. ❞
༊*·˚ when should you use warnings
↳ ❝ this varies for everyone but the good base is to always use warnings when talking about triggering subjects or showing nsfw content. over the years, food has been a point of contention but it usually gets placed under content warning to avoid any issues. ❞
༊*·˚ what is the best warning to use and when?
↳ ❝ it can get confusing when you should use tw or cw but think about what it is that you are showing or speaking about. is it something that could make someone uncomfortable? is it something that is to do with trauma or is it just something that some people might not engage in? it can be hard to find that line but usually thinking about topics that people may actively avoid can help narrow down which warning to use and when. ❞
༊*·˚ someone tagged you in a post and didn't use a specific warning?
↳ ❝ if you have certain triggers and have been tagged in a post that doesn't have that tagged specifically, there are different ways to navigate it. if you have been triggered, take a step back, breathe, and work through it. the person didn't intentionally trigger you so attacking them about it isn't going to do you or them any good. think about whether it's relevant to tell them about, if this is content they seem to regularly post then reach out and either ask to not be tagged in that content or simply block and don't engage with them anymore. you cannot force someone to put a warning on something that they may not see as triggering or needing a warning and often, it can cause friction to occur so taking a step back is best. unless it is someone you want to interact with then communicate and ask if it's okay to either not tag you in that specific content or to warn it. ❞
༊*·˚ best way to navigate warnings
↳ ❝ a way that i navigate tags is that i will usually cw nsfw, violence and food posts depending on how descriptive it is and tw anything graphic or personally triggering for myself. i cover the broad bases and if someone approaches me, i take it into consideration but i do also have the contents of my chatbots stated on the pinned, so if someone wishes to be removed, i respect that. everyone can navigate it differently but if you have it written somewhere on what it is that you post or talk about, people can choose to continue to engage or be removed. ❞
༊*·˚ important note
↳ ❝ a very important note to make that is something i have talked about at length within the writing community amongst my peers is to remember that you are not responsible for anyone's triggers and that people are not responsible for yours. everyone has triggers that are specific to them and we aren't aware of them — we don't have to be. as long as you do your best to warn someone, that is all you can do. you are not obligated to change things for someone else because it is your account. this also goes the other way around — other people are not responsible for your triggers. as someone who has sought help to work through my triggers, i have learnt that only i am responsible for myself and my triggers and if someone else triggers me based on a subject then i need to take a break rather than blaming them for triggering me. you are allowed to curate your space so that it is safe for you but you cannot blame other people for triggers and trauma that they are not aware of nor responsible for. ❞

Update - Community Labels & Content Visibility
Hello everyone! π here.
Recently, Tumblr quietly released a new feature onto the platform, labels, to ensure more creative liberties for its users. Assuming you follow me, you also follow a few other writer blogs of similar nature, and they may have shared this with you as well. Our primary content falls under sexual content, which may or may not be visible for you moving forward!
Now's the time to check your settings to continue enjoying our content. Here's how:
For desktop/mobile app:
1: Click on the person icon at the top right of the site, then click Settings.
Mobile users, tap the gear icon at the top right of your profile and then tap General Settings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2: Scroll down to Content You See, and you'll find Community Labels. Everything should be under Hide.
Tumblr media
3: Change every topic from Hide to Show. Of course, the degree of each topic can vary according to sensitivity and nature of the content itself, so click these at your own personal discretion!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Posts:
Tumblr media
According to Tumblr's new guidelines, other users can flag/report your post and force labels if not properly inserted, which can't be removed or edited! However, at the bottom, you'll see the Everyone tag next to the post button, or whenever you edit your previous posts. You can set the labels for your content, so unless you want your posts to be marked, this is important!
I have begun updating/editing my previous work with these labels, and future fics will have a 48 hour window (Tumblr pls be kind lol) before I manually hide them behind their respective labels! So please, double check the settings to continue enjoying content from your favorite blogs.
Of course, should things go to hell, I will still publish these on AFF, Wattpad, and AO3, so follow me on there. If you already use those as your primary reading site, then you shouldn't worry.

Intersex-Exclusive Terminology Masterlist
This is heavily inspired by the masterlist by intersexfairy; however, it has not been updated in a while and has quite a few broken links as well as possibly questionable sources - I have nothing against him (he/ze/they) at all!
Part 1 of 2 posts. Next post will be about gender identities of intersex individuals, because neither do all exhibit difficulties regarding gender nor do all identify as LGBT due to their conditions and prefer to be excluded. As a result, please do not tag with LGBT or MOGAI as this post is not inherently tied to these two communities. Thank you <3
General Terminology:
Intersex (adj.) / Intersexness/Intersexuality (n.) / IS (abbr.) - Intersex is an umbrella term for differences in sex traits or reproductive anatomy. [source] It is common knowledge that the term "intersex" stems from them being "between" the sex binaries - female and male. Differences in Sex Development (n.) / DSD (abbr.) - A common medical term for intersex traits. Intersex people frown upon the usage of "Disorder" rather than "Differences" because it supports the hypothesis that we are to be "fixed" or "cured." [source] Variations in Sex Characteristics (n.) / VSC (abbr.) - See DSD. Variations is used as a term to label the cause of someone's intersex condition. They are listed as variants of the human condition, rather than being inherently disordered. [list of variations] [source] Intersex, Sex, and/or Gender Diverse (n. / adj.) - A term that is widely frowned upon by the intersex community due to not only its redundancy, but also how it feels like an attempt at erasure of the word "intersex" in itself. [source]
Dyadic (adj.) / Dyad (n.) - An umbrella term for people whose sex characteristics fit within the normative sex binaries - female and male. There is no direct source of where this term was first used. It is the most commonly used term, but is frowned upon by some communities due to suggesting the strictness of the sex binaries. Perisex (adj.) - See Dyadic. Coined by tumblr user actuallyintersex (dating prior to November 2014) due to the possible implifications that the usage of "dyadic" can have in terms of sex binaries. The original post has since been deleted, and the blog can be searched regarding the controversy of this term. [source] "Peri" is used rather than dyad because it means "around," as dyads may not fit directly within the normative sex binaries. It should also be noted that "peri" within medical terminology is used as the "outer layer," of things, such as the pericardium. Endosex (adj.) - See Dyadic. [source] *It should be noted that none of these three terms are more accepted/acceptable than the other, and all are used.
[TW - Intersexism] Intersexism / Interphobia (n.) - The discrimination or prejudice faced by intersex individuals. Intersexism is more commonly used. Dyadism (n.) - The concept that being dyadic is the norm of society, and inherently implies that being intersex is unnatural and intersex people are need of being "cured."
Medical Terminology:
[TW - Intersexism] Intersex Genital Mutilation (n.) / IGM (abbr.) - Non-lifesaving procedures used to alter natural variations in genital appearance. It is connected with the concept of dyadism and trying to make intersex people appear more "normal." [source] Forced/Coerced Hormone Replacement Therapy (n.) / F/CHRT (abbr.) - Due to lack of terminology, this is separate from "just" HRT due to the fact that intersex children do not consent to receiving this, and may not be life-saving. Often seen frequently alongside IGM, especially as a response to the removal of gonads that produce required hormones. [source] [source]
[TW - Intersexism] Sex Assignment (n.) - The process of legally assigning a child "Male" or "Female" at birth. Some people may be recognized intersex at birth, but will likely be given one of the sex binary for legal purposes. [source] In some places, it is noted that markers other than these may be followed. "X" may also be used as a gender marker, but is not typically used for the legal sex. [source] Assigned Sex At Birth (n.) / ASAB (abbr.) - May also be called Assigned Gender At Birth / AGAB. See Sex Assignment. Coercively Assigned Sex at Birth (n.) / CASAB (abbr.) - A non-exclusive term referring to ASAB. Typically used by transgender individuals, but it is also common within the intersex community. See Sex Assignment and ASAB. Forcibly Assigned Sex at Birth (n.) / FASAB (abbr.) - An intersex-exclusive term referring to CASAB. See Sex Assignment and CASAB. *It should be noted that sometimes people put "I" or "IS" as a prefix in ASAB abbreviations to indicate that they are intersex; i.e., ICAMAB. *It should be noted that some people use "X" (see Sex Assignment), "I" (meaning intersex), or "Unassigned At Birth"/"UAB" when speaking on assignment. I cannot find credible sources for these statements being used legitimately, but that does not exclude their validity as a self-identifier.

So last year on my old writing blog, I attempted to do kinktober but I didn't fare well at all. I was determined to try it again this year, for fun and practice because fuck knows, Ashes needs that, and this time, I think -know, actually, that I've managed to pull it off. Are we ready for 31 days of sin? Because the time is upon us, babes.
𝚠𝚑𝚊𝚝 𝚢𝚘𝚞 𝚗𝚎𝚎𝚍 𝚝𝚘 𝚔𝚗𝚘𝚠.
-- Read all warnings before reading. They're there, I promise you. Your media consumption is your own to control, make good choices.
--All works are only meant for 18+ on up. Any -all, characters I've written about are 18+ because it's my world and I make the rules. Minors, go find some fluff to read or better yet, do your homework.
-- All readers are female. All pairings are m/f, but I did try to make the readers as non-descript as I possibly could. Apologies in advance but this is what I'm most comfortable with... for now.
-- The majority of my prompts come from this kinktober list by @the-purity-pen and can be found here. Any additional prompts I do for funsies, those will come from @sxcret-garden and can be found here. Huge thanks to both of these amazing bloggers for their lists. Note, I may choose to add my own personal ideas into this also, so some things may not have a prompts list they came from.
-- All posts are queued for 8 pm my time with any additional posts to come at 9 pm my time and beyond. Please make sure you have fixed your settings so that you can actually see my posts (gee thanks, community labels) just in case tumblr decides to force a warning label on them or anything because sometimes it be like that lol,-instructions on how to do that are here or here.

Hello, can you explain more about what willowgenic, parogenic and tulupas(?) are, maybe their differences and similarities as well? I've only ever heard about tulupas once before I stumbled across your blog, reading through your blog I can't help but feel lost😅
Thanks for asking! :D
I'll go through the basics from what I understand, but if you want to understand better than what I can say I recommend doing research yourself /nf (not forcing, it's not a common tone indicator so better specify XD)
I'll explain the best I can but can't guarantee quality ^^
They're all very similar, and often particular labels are up to personal preference- similar to bisexual, omnisexual, polysexual and pansexual for example.
I'll explain tulpamancy first, since that's the oldest term and the one I found out about first.
Tulpamancy is the practice of creating tulpas, or autonomous beings that I find are easiest to liken to imaginary friends. They're like imaginary friends, but aren't controlled by the person who made them. (Or aren't controlled consciously, though typically in these communities it's believed that they are their own conscious, separate being, at least to some extent.)
Tulpas are usually created purposefully, and I won't explain how because that'd take too long. There's a lot of tutorials online, or you can always ask how they're created in another ask if you're interested! However, some tulpas were unintentional, like normal imaginary friends that gained autonomy.
The definition I found that's the shortest is: "system that is [usually] intentionally created using thought-based methods. For some, this may also include some metaphysical parts, often in the form of energy work."
Tulpamancy does fall under the parogenic label, (alongside a few other practices), and some tulpamancers use it while others don't. Parogenic also generally describes systems, while not all tulpamancers consider themselves and their tulpa(s) a system.
I personally use the label "paromancy" since it doesn't imply us being a system as much, since I don't like calling us a system for a few minor reasons. It means pretty much the same thing though.
I'm shamelessly copying from the multiplicity and plurality wiki for this, but "A willogenic system is a system that was purposely created, or willed into existence, through psychological or spiritual means. It is a term for purposefully created systems that is not connected to parogenic systems or tulpa systems, due to the controversy of tulpamancy. Due to the nature of the term, it does not encompass systems that consider themselves to have used tulpamancy to create their system."
It's pretty much synonymous with parogenic except that it clearly rejects tulpamancy.
Now's the juicy stuff XD. The reason willogenic specifically excludes tulpamancy is because tulpamancy terminology is often considered to be cultural appropriation.
I don't want to get too into it, if you're really interested in the discourse it should be easy enough to find. Very simplifying it, some tibetan buddhists said and explained that the words for tulpamancy are cultural appropriation. At least one tibetan buddhist said that it wasn't cultural appropriation, and there were some other arguments on the pro-tulpa-terminology side. (If this information is inaccurate sorry, I don't have the time to go looking for this stuff, but it's definitely close to accurate)
There was a lot of discourse on tumblr about it, but from what I hear tulpamancy communities elsewhere didn't really get as much of this discourse there, and a lot of folks aren't aware of it really.
This obviously prompted people to use other terms, as to not do cultural appropriation. Parogenic is one of those terms, but the original definition of parogenic includes tulpamancy, so willogenic was created to totally exclude tulpamancy.
So the differences between them are: -tulpamancy vs parogenic: parogenic implies that it's a system, (but doesn't have to be) and also includes other similar practices. Parogenic as a term also definitely isn't cultural appropriation, while a lot of people consider tulpamancy (the terminology) to be cultural appropriation. -tulpamancy vs willogenic: willogenic also implies that it's a system (but doesn't have to be), and some tulpamancers say that "willing" their tulpas to existance doesn't suit them. Willogenic also excludes tulpamancy, because of the whole cultural appropriation controversy. -willogenic vs parogenic: willogenic clearly excludes tulpamancy. That's about the only difference I know XD
Sorry if any of this is unclear, I was trying to not make it any longer than it already was. Feel free to ask more questions, though I'm not particularily versed in the community/discourse aspects of all of those related labels!
And yeah my blog kind of requires the reader to be familiar with these concepts XD It's too difficult to explain it all the time.

To all the great denizens of Tumblr…
What is your most despised plot/writing trope of your favorite genre? And what is your most Ride or Die trope?
!MINOR SPOILERS FOR JOHN WICK 4, SKYSCRAPER (2018), NIGHT AGENT (2023) AND LOST!
Action stories are definitely up there as one of my favorite genres.
To everyone else this may seem like a hot take, but I do not particularly enjoy romantic plots. Unless the story is a romantic genre I tend to get annoyed of them, especially because it’s always the two main characters and a good portion of the time are a guy and girl. Like- why can’t they just be best friends at the end of the story, instead of having this prologue of them ending up together one way or another?
I recently watched Night Agent, y’know that Netflix show? Needless to say it had this exact plot device. It came completely out of left field too. I’m not even joking. Peter and Rose showed almost no indication of a relationship and were colleagues for a time (which I was really digging), then completely out of left field they start smooching and stuff in episode 6 I believe. I may have the timeline messed up but it was after their dumbasses managed to get labeled traitors of the US. The ‘woe is me’ trope I speak about more below about REALLY came into full effect here for Peter. It messed with the tone too. I felt less of a feeling of dread for Peter specifically being framed, and more of a ‘oh so THIS is how they force him and Rose together?’ There’s scenes where Rose is healing his wounds, then caressing his muscles, all while this broadcast plays about Peter being a traitor. The entire time it’s like the writers forgot we are supposed to feel terrible about that and instead made it into a scene, where we are made to feel like it’s hot that this girl is running around with her fugitive boyfriend and is the lone person who believes in the good will of Peter.
I find that romantic plots such as these are usually shoved in to add some amount of drama to the story where that drama never had to be present. It gets pretty repetitive and lazy as I see it over and over again in medias outside of the romantic genre. As mentioned before, I see they tend to do more harm than good. There’s usually some amount of ‘woe is me’ involved, or a love triangle or needless break ups and such. One example that immediately comes to mind for me is Lost.
Bro- the love square going on in Lost was a mess. I cant even begin to fathom why they dragged out the whole ‘Who will Kate end up with? Jack or Sawyer?’ for as long as humanly possible. There was the silly old simplicity of the ‘bad girl with a soft side™️’ having to ‘choose between the bad boy with a heart of gold or the noble Boy Scout™️’. Not to mention the random inclusion of Jack maybe ending up Juliet and that needless amount of tension from everyone questioning her loyalty. The story did this a lot where they simply didn’t have characters communicate with each other, and this was by far its worst example. If Jack just pulled Kate- or heck anyone aside- and said ‘It’s not like that, she’s just letting me know some valuable information that can save our lives’??? That is just the tip of the iceberg with that whole debacle, but I’d rather move on to my favorite tropes.
You know what tropes always get me good? Is my number one Ride or Die trope? I love fluid fighting sequences. Especially ones that in some way show the characters wit or willpower. I don’t mind these scenes when they go on for several minutes, typically because any well written one won’t FEEL like it’s been several minutes. It will just go and go and fully immerse you into the action- and suddenly it’s been ten minutes and the scenes still going but you don’t know that. Why? Because you are having too much fun watching those creative and unique ways each participant is using to try and take each other out.
I do believe the greatest modern example of this trope done right is the entire John Wick franchise. I could rewatch all four of those movies in a heartbeat and it’d hardly feel like an hours passed for me. All because of how beautifully choreographed those fights are, and how unique each opponent is for Wick. How each character has their own distinct fighting style even if it may just look like they’re throwing punching at each other. John Wick 4 especially had this really cool scene (well several actually), showcasing a new character called Caine, and the several ways he navigates around being blind and still putting up as good a fight as every other High Table assassin. There was this one moment in particular where he was being introduced as a threat for the first time that we see him very clearly have limitations in navigating his surroundings, but uses sounds such as the enemy drawing their bow, the woosh of an arrow, the footsteps of another, and so on to tell where his opponents are. He even has these little audio buttons which he places along one of two routes the enemy can enter from so he knows when they are coming. It’s quite nice seeing him maneuver around being blind while still being realistically blind.
There is another really tense action scene from a film Skyscraper (2018), where the main character Will is trying to get through the towers manual override to rescue his child. Because he is locked in a room with no access to the control panels he decides to deactivate it by cutting the wires outside the building (complicated I know but bear with me). What follows is this moment where we visibly see Will’s exhaustion as he makes a precarious pulley system and makes his way to the panel. Him deactivating it seems like a small victory, however because of the encroaching flames he’s forced to make a daring escape where he then is left wildly dangling on the side of he building. We are forced to watch him struggle to gain his bearings as he twists and turns midair, before being slammed into the buildings wall and nearly falling to his demise, only for his prosthetic leg to be caught in the rope. He then used his leg as a more solid bearing to grab into where he finally climbs back up to safety. All I’m saying is it was a really great scene, you could hardly tell it was three minutes.
Oh yeah! Before I finish off please know I don’t hate neither Lost or Night Agent. Lost especially is one of my favorite shows. My opinions are more so my own preferences for writing, as I am sure many really digger the romance in both those shows. I’m just not too much a romantic person. It just means those plot lines are not for me. Every creative work as some amount of value, every creative work has potential, always remember that! I cant wait to see your responses! 💙💛
