We as a fandom joke about Tim's cloning stint a lot. It was a fucked up thing for Tim to do and definitely showed off his Mad Basement Scientist vibes quite literally. It is, objectively, pretty funny.
On the other hand, how much of Tim's soul was lost that he tried 99 times to create a replication of Kon? He knew it wouldn't bring his best friend back. He knew, at best, Tim's project would be closer to Kon's biological sibling instead.
Despite that, Tim tried 99 times. Each trial might have brought him closer, but they would've taken an extreme amount of time. It would have cost so much money and resources.
Tim, as he slowly broke down in front of a glass tube that once imprisoned his friend, did not stop. He wouldn't. He couldn't. He knew Kon would hate him for this. He knew his best friend would be furious at the blatant disregard for clones. Tim was so lost that he gave up everything for a mere impression of Kon. He sacrificed his time, effort, and resources. On the line was his reputation in the hero community, relationship with Kon, and mental stability.
The thing I've learned about being on testosterone that was difficult is that if I want to see the full extent of fat and muscle changes, I've got to eat well and often. I'm still not good at doing that, but it's so good seeing my work and care play an effect into the way my body is changing. It's about the food, but most of all, it's about the care, and I think that's a valuable lesson I will always appreciate. To anybody who is transitioning: it's about the care, it's about the food, and that is neutral at worst. You deserve nourishment and care and love and respect, especially when that care and love and respect is coming directly from you💛
everytime eddie is watching a show (usually a telenovela bc he loves drama and gossip no matter how much he denies it) buck will join him and watch it with him, asking him questions every five seconds bc even if he says he knows spanish from his peru bartending days he actually doesn't know shit. (eddie tries to be patient bc he loves the guy tho)
and then buck proceeds to call it 'their' show. which means eddie cannot watch the show without buck. his boyfriend is kind of an asshole like that but he loves him anyway.
Saw this video on tik tok and loved it so much. Of course I immediately knew it wasn’t an aircraft carrier, but because I’m me I did some digging on the effects of rough seas on aircraft carriers.
I remember seeing the pitching deck covered in an episode of Carrier, a PBS documentary covering life on an aircraft carrier that I refuse to shut up about. In a previous post I highlighted the effects of the pitching deck on pilots during nighttime carrier landings and just how TERRIFYING they are by adding a video from PBS Carrier episode Rite of Passage. During that episode a pilot had this to say:
Dude, all I know was I was in close and they’re like ‘a little power’ and I look down and saw the ******* back of the ship above me and I was like AHHHHHHH!!!!
But it’s dark and we can’t really see from that one video just how much it’s moving but like holy swear word tumblr won’t let me say!
And it’s crazy because to those below deck it looks a little different. Thanks to the sheer size and intricate design of aircraft carriers, there’s nothing more than a little sway to those on board.
I mean one wrong step and you’ll be hitting something hard I’m sure.
Of course there’s more to it than that. One person stated that you really just had to time when to go up ladders like when the ship falls off of a big wave you’ll kind of float up the ladder. He also had the following to say:
The North Atlantic is a bitch during winter. On the USS Kennedy 1976, in really bad weather, the seas were very rough. The ship turns into the waves, and goes up and down, no “rolling”. I watched 6 sailors, watching the TV in the berthing compartment, rise 4 feet into the air, and fall back to the Deck. no one even moved from the chairs. They were watching the recorded “Muppet Show”. A big hit back then!
