When you're watching a show from the early sixties with an all-male cast and (I'm pretty sure) by the end of season 2 each one of the leads has either cried onscreen, tried to hold back tears, or been implied to have cried offscreen

(Joe and Adam definitely cry in The Truckee Strip and The Dark Gate respectively, I'm pretty sure Ben cries in Elizabeth, My Love and there's a scene in Vengeance where the makeup clearly shows he's been crying - Hoss, perhaps ironically, is the only one I'm not sure about. these two and iansan are mavuikas trio and I've said this many times (i will continue to say it). they're so DONE. iansan at least is endeared and polite about it. kinich and xilonen will not hesitate to give mavuika a stern one and I'm sure mavuika appreciates it.

he doesnt KNOW what hes bringing her either but I imagine citlali keeps hiring him only because she knows he wouldn't say anything (or care, in the first place) and so every few weeks kinich keeps getting these commissions to bring these abnormally heavy stacks of papers to citlalis door. he doesn't care tho!! money!! (this is canon btw idk why im stating it like a hc)

citlali canonically calls kinich a brat (AQ) which i think is hilarious. she just hates her male grandsons. they do everything wrong in her eyes

something that gobsmacked me initially is xilonen telling kinich he's "the only one who knows how to handle [citlali]" during AQ. like. what does this even mean??

aside from mav and ororon, i think xilo and kinich are actually some of citlalis closest friends. mostly because they arent scared of her and treat her like any other person. granted they don't show enough respect as citlali would like (see AQ) but fr I think that's why citlali loves them

or citlali just appreciates kinich's mental processing and his ability to act like nothing is happening around him when fact shows that everything is*

1. kinich walks into citlalis house and it reeks of beer, possible puke and that smell that comes from not leaving the house for three days straight, and Does Not React. dgaf final boss 2. citlali crashes out over ororon being ororon (whats new) and kinich just nods absentmindedly. hc capitanos death hit ororon really hard (thats the canon part) so he started looking out for his friends more often and psychoanalysing their actions for whether they're planning to kill themselves (oh god), and absolutely dreads the day kinich is going to die. he searches high and low for some sort of solution but if citlali couldn't do it there's no chance he could so now he just has to accept it somehow. moving on!

CHASCA AND KINICH: THE CLOSEST THINGS WE'LL GET TO LAW ENFORCEMENT IN NATLAN!!

okay i love these two i think their personalities are pretty similar only chasca is more trigger-happy and kinich more seemingly apathetic. if they had to play good cop bad cop they'd both be bad cops idk it is what it is

out of the six heroes, these two would be the most physical/carry out the dirty work. stay with me now.

1. theyre the most morally ambiguous imo. and its not in the way that they will harm innocents in a war, for example (they could, but id say theyd try avoid that outcome as much as possible), but that they can hurt the enemy in ways the other four cannot. ororon has (imo) clean-cut morals and lines he refuses to cross. i think he, iansan and mualani are simply too (and I don't mean this in a bad way) soft and kind-hearted to harm someone beyond necessary. they have the physical strength to, but they wont. 🤷 xilonen is a bit more confusing, but I do believe she normally wouldn't just because she wouldn't consider it necessary. chasca and kinich might, but xilonen wouldnt. i read her character stories and she does not seem like the type to believe in physical lessons the way chasca or kinich would. yo what i cant believe i just wrote that. im keeping it because thats deep but damn i didnt mean for it to be while the other four wouldnt, chasca and kinich may. theyre a little harsher on the world as we've seen from their characters, and i think between kinich's skewed perspective of "price" (not in the form of money) and chasca's abyss-tainted bloodlust, they could definitely go overboard in the eyes of worldly moral. not their morals, but our morals.

This is a personal rant about my thoughts on Greek mythology retellings, and just the way Fantasy books and the publishing industry is at this point 🧍‍♀️

I have nothing against Greek mythology retellings, or just anything Greek mythology related in fantasy in general!

However, I have certain gripes about the way Greek mythology is portrayed in media, specifically in the way its interpreted in Fantasy.

I love Percy Jackson, and I think that Uncle Rick did a wonderful job at expanding the world and making Greek, Roman, Egyptian, and Norse mythology entertaining and easily digestible for young audiences. Genuinely, he does a better job at writing children's books than R*wling could ever be capable of.

However, as much as I can love PJO as much as I do, I still find certain bits of the world building and character writing as... Very hit and miss.

To start, I don't like the way Ares was written in the series. I can understand that it would make sense for his personality to be that way, because he's the God of War and it helps with Clarisse's character development; but I find fault in it because Ares in the myths is nothing like PJO Ares. (He literally killed one of Poseidon's sons because he raped his daughter, Alcippe, and he's one of the only gods who doesn't hump anything that can breathe in air. At least Ares has the courtesy of asking for consent 💀)

The Gods being the reason behind WWII and Hitler being a child of Hades. All I must say.

The portrayal of the Aphrodite cabin

The fact that Athena can have children. Annabeth, pjo fandom at large, I love you are, but you gotta admit it must've felt weird when you first read the books and you find out Athena — the maiden Goddess of Wisdom — can have offspring. Regardless of the reasoning, I still find it weird 😭 (EDIT: I've now just remembered that it was a reference to how Athena herself was created 🤡 I'm a clown)

I get that the Hermes cabin is also the cabin for the unclaimed, but couldn't have Hestia's cabin worked too? She doesn't have offspring, sure, but it probably would've made more sense for the unclaimed to go to Hestia's cabin so that the Hermes cabin wouldn't be so crowded

This isn't really a world building issue, but I think I should bring it up: I'm not saying this against the Kane Chronicles fandom, but... Sadie and Anubis. Why. Like you can't convince me that no one WASN'T weirded out by that.

Less of a complaint and more of a question because I can't remember if the question was answered in HoO or not, but when Percy told the Gods to start claiming their unclaimed children and be more decent parents (as he should, go off king), did that request apply to the Romans at Camp Jupiter too? Because that's gotta have been confusing when the unclaimed kids at CP suddenly started getting claimed 😭😭

I could go on a whole ass tangent about PJO, but that would make this post longer than it needs to be 😭😭 and any of the points might not make much sense, since I haven't read the books in a LONG time

Off to the YA Fantasy segment... Hoo boy.

The oversaturation of Hades/Persephone retellings makes me SEETHE. Why is it always Hades and Persephone why can't it be something else 😭

I just don't like the “modern feminist” retellings of Greek myths in the YA Fantasy genre, in general. They tend to completely miss the point of the original myth, and it's the case with a lot of Hades and Persephone retellings where they try to paint Hades as the good guy taking Persephone away from her control freak mother, Demeter.

Because that wasn't what the myth was about. The myth isn't a love story, at least, not a romantic one. It was about Demeter's love for Persephone and how much she wanted her daughter back after Hades stole her away. Keep in mind, in the historical context of the myth, the daughters of women in ancient Greece never really get to see their mothers after their engagements are solidified.

If they wanted to make a “feminist” retelling of the myth, they'd have it centered around the love Demeter had for Persephone to almost doom the mortal realm to an eternal winter to get her back.

I love the myth of Hades and Persephone, truly, I do. I understand the appeal it has on people, the appeal it has one me. I can see why people adore the myth in the way they do because Hades is one of the better husbands in Greek mythology (a low bar, but my point still stands).

Personally, I blame Lore Olympus and especially the video of the myth by Overly Sarcastic Productions for the way the myth is portrayed in mass media. And I say this as a former LO fan and a fan of Overly Sarcastic Productions 😭

I'd also want to go into my many, MANY gripes about “Crown of Starlight” by Cait Corrain, but in all honesty? I don't think I can properly convey how much I DESPISE Cait and their book. So I'd highly recommend y'all to check out the videos about Cait Corrain by Reads With Rachel, WithCindy, and Xiran Jay Zhao on YouTube if you're interested in going into more detail about the controversies, especially for those who weren't made aware of it.

I feel like the publishing industry just... Isn't good anymore, after Booktok went viral. Reading has been “hot girlified”, and all Booktok seems to ask when they get recommended a book is: “Is it spicy??”

Reading is like fast fashion, now. It's all based around certain popular tropes that that's how books are promoted now. Not for the plot — or sometimes lack thereof — but for the tropes the book has.

The only thing I can thank Booktok for is that they helped me discover The Cruel Prince. And even then, it's marketed as romance on there, when it's a political fantasy with a romance subplot.

I, personally, don't read — nor do I like — Sarah J Maas. (Especially considering the problematic aspects of her storytelling, character portrayals, and is (apparently, correct me if I'm wrong) a Zionist)

However, that isn't to say that I don't like some of the characters she makes. A lot of them have potential, actually! From what I've seen, I think Nesta, Gwyn, Azriel, Eris, Tamlin and Lucien from ACOTAR are the only characters I actually like, based on what I've heard — and seen — on anything in the SJM critical tag on this hellsite.

And while we're at it, let's discuss the elephant in the room with ACOTAR, right? Rhysand.

By all that is good and holy, I hate Rhysand so much and I think I'd hate him even more if I actually READ the books. I don't get why Booktok is so invested in him when Maas retconned Tamlin's character to make him look better as Feyre's love interest.

Also, from what I recall, didn't Rhysand sexually assault Feyre? And he didn't bother to apologize for it, and justified it with his sad tragic backstory??

I can't with y'all, istg 😭 the fact that “Feysand” is apparently a Hades and Persephone retelling too makes me even more mad about it because it isn't even a GOOD retelling. It just takes away what ACOTAR originally was— a Beauty and the Beast retelling, with Feyre and Tamlin as the leads.

Didn't Maas dedicate ACOTAR to her husband because “He would go under the mountain” for her??? BECAUSE IT CERTAINLY WASN'T RHYSAND WHO SAVED FEYRE FROM UTM, I'LL TELL YOU THAT

I think, out of all the series Maas has made thus far, Throne of Glass is the only one I ACTUALLY kind of like, based on what I've heard. Crescent City seems to be too complicated to understand, and even though I've never read it myself, I miss what ACOTAR could've been. (My hope lies with Nesta, Elucien and Gwynriel, at this point)

With Nuru, her sister thinks she’s absolutely insane for going on this journey, not only because of Kotoan traditions and the way the court works (Nuru and her sister need to be both alive and well for the kingdom to prosper, essentially, it’s a whole thing; Koto is very big on their religion?? Cult?? To the stars?? Anyways, whole thing) but also because NOBODY trusts Corona with ANYTHING and there’s a mf there that’s from Corona and another one that’s from Ingvarr. So. It doesn’t look great. They definitely argue about it, above all Nuru argued with their mother in FRONT of the guys so she’s definitely not in a very nice place right now but Nuru’s the single most stubborn girl in the planet and if her mother sends any other Kotoan on this journey she’s throwing a fit (also the point that the royal family is trying to keep the fact that this whole meteor situation is out of their control as a secret, so) because the whole point is to protect their people, ma’am. With the way their kingdom works though, they can’t get apart on bad terms so they have to swallow up their pride before Nuru leaves. They definitely wanted to get on each other’s throats about but this whole thing but they have to keep up an Image, so.

With the whole criminal thing, Hugo is sketchy as fuck but he’s an anonymous threat in Ingvarr, he doesn’t have a wanted post and nobody knows who he is actually so it’s easier for him to hide and attempt to pass for a normal guy. With Varian… ehhh, I’m thinking about but I think with Corona’s brand new thing of reforming criminals and thugs there might be a bit of?? Propaganda?? Going on there, I don’t know how to explain it properly but specifically the Coronian press is doing a huge work of trying to clean up the images of their reformed criminals, they take back wanted posters, yadda yadda. (I have to keep Rapunzel in mind while thinking about this, it’s insane, how is she even a child of that kingdom.) Anyways, Corona’s Most Wanted are pretty unhappy with this whole thing, Varian is literally a bitch at most of the royal events he’s dragged into and RUNS AWAY from his job the second he turns eighteen, so.

↑ I do believe there’s been some work into ““““hiding”””” Varian’s crimes since in most 7k works Yong and Nuru don’t?? Know?? SOMEHOW Nuru never knows which is insane, but alright. I also think it might’ve been something that the fandom came up with, Varian is called “The Alchemist” a lot when it comes to Who commuted the crimes, so I think they might’ve uhhh been on this whole work to separate The Alchemist from Royal Engineer Varian of Old Corona.

Now to my sweetest little boy (/lie) Yonggggg!!! He’s to me what we call a “temporão”, which means a child that’s born many years after their sibling before them, so there’s already this disconnect between Yong and his siblings who are much older than him, also his parents are the most tired couple on Earth, they’re trying their best but holy shit. I do think that Yong’s siblings never like how much their parents pushed him to so many different mentors (“passed around from hand to hand like a bowl of fruit”, remember? Also the first three were there for more personal reasons than anything and the latter ones are only there for the money and aren’t that mindful of him), but. Y’know.

They definitely tried to help sometimes, given how their parents are I think some of them were often at their family’s home to try and make some things easier. Also them just?? Letting their son be out travelling with this random Coronian son of a bitch?? I have to think more about why in the ever-loving fuck they let that happen, I think that most of all Varian advertised his thesis and it being easier to help in his. Man, my brain isn’t braining, anyways, the final end goal would be Corona because it’d be easier to work there and Varian’s stupid naive ass thought the journey might’ve been easier, the main character syndrome haver.

And even though Bayangor and Ingvarr are years light ahead of Corona (Kingdom of Innovation and Kingdom of Industrialisation, respectively), Varian HAS been able to get Corona going on the Industrial Revolution, like, clearly >>>>ONE OF<<<<< the brightest minds of Tangledverse’s 19th century, so. Gotta give him some credit where credit is due. Also Yong likes him (Yong hasn’t liked any of his mentors in a long while) and maybe, maybe the reason why no one has been able to “fix” Yong thus far is because they needed to expand their horizons.

At the end of the day the final word is with their parents, even if Yong’s siblings would rather he DOESN’T go live for God-knows-how-long withy his random guy (smth smth Ancient Greece), but then again Yong has been having the worst time of his life ever since last year’s events so maybe some fresh air and change of ambient will do him good (please please please please do him some good).

Honestly atp, not even i can defend Gege on this. Each chapter is about 15-20 pages, which means we have about 75-100 pages to conclude the finale Sukuna fight, the aftermath, and so on. Where we are currently, there are many moments that are just straight up missing in the lore and LET ME TELL YOU, Jujutsu Kaisen is a show that'll MASSIVELY benefit if they get expanded on. Can we talk about how the majority of Uraume vs Hakari has essentially been off-screened??

And people say that sure Sukuna doesn't need a flashback arc but i find it NUTS how you hype up a certain era as being the "Crème de la crème" of Jujutsu Sorcery and then BARELY show us any of what happened back then?

Then there's so much we DON'T know about characters like, say Tengen and Kenjaku, we don't know the details of how things went for Yuuji's father, we don't have YUUJI HIMSELF knowing anything about his family. And its highly likely the merger point is getting dropped. We dont know anything as to WHY Uraume has been chosen by Sukuna to be his cook without Gege saying like, what? 2 lines in a databook?

This is just..unjustifiable at this point , the lack of character moments has always been an issue but this will just, take the cake.

Hi! Hello! Welcome to my little slum of a blog where I scream into a void and have nothing to contribute to society except good commissioned artwork and bad takes. I recently moved from Twithole & Bsky, back to Tumblr after many years of being away, because it's the only place where Hogwarts Legacy is still active.

As you can tell - I am a very tired lady that tries to see everything as a good time and I never try to take anything too seriously. Regardless of my personal stances, I do try to put my own opinions behind me so I can enjoy fandoms as they are. I am a firm believer that: 👏ALL👏CONTENT👏IS👏GOOD👏CONTENT👏. On the rare chance, there might be some content I might not consume for personal reasons, but most content regarding the fandoms I love, is good content to me. With that said, I can be very sarcastic, so in turn, please never take anything I say too seriously... As a reminder as well; Please be kind to everyone!! I always believe in treating everyone with kindness, so if you think I'm coming off mean with my sarcasm, I apologize deeply now and remind you that I am not trying to hurt you.

Just so it's known here as well; I am just a writer and that's all I will be. I am not one to really interact in terms of OC roleplays or story building, because I can be very overbearing and in people's face with my ideas. That has caused a lot of tension and I have lost friendships over it. So, I wish for that to not repeat. ☺️ Recently I have gotten more comfortable with sharing my thoughts, but I have generally pulled away from interacting overall because my opinions are strong and I don't wish to interject on anyone's safe space or their own world. However, if I do interact, I expect nothing in return. I have gotten negative backlash and/or exclusion over past attempts to be friends with fandom peeps (in all fandoms btw). This is because as just a writer, me interacting with artists is seen as looking for freebies or leeching. So, um, no. I don't need freebies. I spend my own money on artwork I want from artists, I don't need people to give me things. While I am very grateful and always cherish pieces given to me as gifts, that has never been my intention with making friendships nor will it ever be.

The disclaimer comes off harsh, I know, except at this point - I'm not taking my chances. I am going to take the time to explain my stance when it comes to stuff like this, so people understand that my boundaries are as such.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters. It has gotten me through so many hardships. Plus, I was able to accept that I won't have children of my own and doing what I wanted in life. So I am able to project that want and need onto my son, Mokuba. While also able to create my own story that fulfills my want for family and strength.

“So let me get this right,” Jin Ling pressed his pinched fingers on his nose, sending a prayer to any Gods that might be hearing that this would be just Lan Jingyi's overactive imagination. “Of all my uncles, as you're so fond of pointing out, you saw the ghost of the one we know for sure that wouldn't be able to be here because he's very much walking around and shamelessly married to Hanguang-Jun. Is that right?”

“You know very well that Wei-quianbei is not actually Mo Xuanyu,” Lan Jingyi grumbled over his cup of tea, not meeting Jin Ling's eyes.

“No, I know that, because he died to get his revenge.” Jin Ling had to take off his hair pin, undoing his updo. He could feel his headache coming. “Remember that? Because I remember very clearly telling you, Lan Sizhui and Ouyang Zizhen about that.”

“Of course I remember that!” Lan Jingyi said with his tea cup clanking loudly against the table. “But something is happening, Jin Ling! Why would Nie-zongzhu go meet me at the gates after him sending a letter to me to help him with Qinghe's resentful energy?”

“He did what?!”

He didn't intend to scream, and he had been better at his bursts of reaction, as his jiujiu would call it. But knowing his uncle, he would react the same way if he knew about Nie-zongzhu going after Lan Jingyi's help. Not because of Jingyi, but for the fact of Nie Huaisang requesting for help at all.

Jin Ling wouldn't touch that with the longest sword in the world, but the Guanyin Temple night affected them all in different ways. How could it not? Jin Ling had gone through the most awkward family secrets reveal one could go under, all while being held hostage by his own uncle. Zewu-jun had to witness his closest friend and sworn brother go through all the stages of madness before killing him in what to this day no one knew if it were a genuine reaction or another of Nie-zongzhu’s lies. His uncle had the least exposure to the entire nonsense, but he still had to deal with the fact that Wei Wuxian was back and obnoxious as ever, on top of being all lovey dovey around Hanguang-Jun.

And then, there was Nie-zongzhu.

Jin Ling didn't remember much of that night, he had other pressing things to be worried about. But he remembered how collected and poised Nie-zongzhu had walked away from the temple, as if he had just gone out from a walk instead of witnessing his revenge unfold beyond the eyes of some of the most important political figures of the Cultivation World.

And Jin Ling hadn't been fully present for the whole Chief Cultivator transition, his uncle shielding him from most of the hysterics that followed that night. But he knew enough, and heard enough, to know that the entire five Sects were expected to crumble under the scandal and Nie Huaisang's weak pulse.

However, the complete opposite had happened. Nie-zongzhu stepped in and with a sweep of his fan was able to put measures to hold back the fire and the power vacuum Jin Guangyao had left behind. And such efficiency had one and one explanation only:

“How long had he been planning for this?” he heard his uncle whispering deep in the night, while piles and piles of documents covered his desk, a bottle of wine next to him long emptied.

The answer never came, be it in the form of letters or be it from Jiang Cheng demands to speak with Nie Huaisang in person.

If Jin Ling had any resentments against Nie Huaisang, it would be for the following years of silence between him and Jiang Cheng, as Jin Ling was forced to see his Uncle grasping straws to comprehend where it all began. How much of Nie Huaisang's friendship had been real? How much of it had been him using the Jiang clan for his own gain?

And the saddest thing? The moment his heart broke for his uncle into a million pieces?

When he caught Jiang Cheng sitting in front of Jiang Yanli mourning tablet, asking again and again-

“I could have helped. Why didn't he ask for help?” as if his sister would show up with a hug and soft hands to clear his tears away.

like I love requests so much I love sharing brainrot and being able to write a fic for someone and making them happy w my writing it’s the whole reason I started writing in the first place. but I just love my own brain and the fics that I come up with on my own as well and I think it’s rly important for writers to consistently write things that their own brain thought of and write them just because they want to. I’ve seen writers put sm pressure on themselves to complete requests and I totally understand that but I kinda hate how they even feel that pressure in the first place bcuz it takes away the joy of writing and you find yourself unable to even think of what to write anymore cause it’s become associated with the stress of “getting it done” like some sort of school assignment. requests can be such a blessing and a way to connect a fandom more and build a community and even a little family within a blog but it can also be so stressful. feeling bad that you’ve taken too long to finish a request, having anons harass you in your inbox for not writing their request “quickly enough”, and the general entitlement ppl have adopted when they’re literally asking— ASKING someone else to do something FOR THEM. I don’t experience this too often and I don’t want any of the people who have sent me requests to feel bad for sending them in, trust me I LOVE the requests. but I do wonder sometimes if ppl on my blog wonder why I take so long to finish requests and why I never close them either lmao. cause it is quite different from all my moots’ blogs and majority of blogs on tumblr that I’ve seen… and I just think I always want to have that option for readers to spill their thoughts into a request without the pressure or expectation that it’s going to be answered quickly. closing and opening inboxes is an amazing way to work through requests systematically and consistently while also not getting bogged down by too many. and I think readers probably like that system(?) cause it’s a higher chance of their request getting done quickly! (and to those readers who send out the same request to a bunch of different authors idk WHY you do this idc if it’s just bcuz you wanted to see how we would all interpret it differently, honestly fuck you. bcuz it just feels so empty and pointless like you don’t actually care abt us as authors and our writing but just want to see how fast an author can get your idea written and posted. it’s like you’re using us as machines and testing who will be the fastest and who will stay on the loading screen the longest. it’s so disappointing tbh. and maybe this is also why i enjoy writing for lesser known groups bcuz when I get a request it’s so precious to me i know that the reader sent it in bcuz they actually like my writing and know I’ll be able to write for a group that they love that not many other ppl write for. despite the fact that I won’t get more than 10-30 notes for a fic from a nugu group doesn’t mean that it is less rewarding.)

but then again I’ve also seen readers ignore the authors rules stating that requests are closed or get mad that they are and it’s just… sigh… we are literally writing for free for your enjoyment, we spend hundreds of hours writing these fics whether they are “good” or “bad” they still take time and effort and love and a whole lot of brainpower and googling of synonyms and staring blankly at the two sentences you’ve written before switching tabs and procrastinating for 2 hours only to come back and finish in one flurry of motivation lmao. but for me having my inbox always open and welcome for requests feels like it’s actively counteracting the expectations for writers to pump out fics like some sort of machine to feed their audience while only getting blank likes as a return (this is truly JUST my thoughts and how I view it I’m not trying to say how I do things is better or how others work their blog is wrong or anything like that. if ur a writer and u rly focus on getting ur requests done lowkey I admire u cause I do still feel some guilt looking at requests I have sitting in my inbox from like last year although I am happy and content w my system and feel that it does put the focus on me and my creativity and less on the pressure to take others ideas and make a fic for them with the side effects of time pressure and guilt for not following through if that makes sense.) all that rambling is to say that now that brain is so focused on tasks that are much more important and I have less time to think of silly little delusions, having these requests sitting in my inbox waiting for me is rly nice :) and I’m rly excited to complete more of them cause most of you have given me rly rly amazing fic ideas <3

ummm… hi 🥹 i didnt realize people on here thought of us still. i mainly lurk nowadays because life has been insane (good) but i still have you on notifs because i love you dearly. i actually only use social now to keep up with the news for the few fandoms im in. that anon is absolutely not weird, your blog is a place we will always remember for life for obvious reasons, people wanting an update is actually really cute. jake (sax) and i hit our year in june and just put a down payment on a house just outside the city - the commute is worth it 😍 i think that’s the big update everything else is the same 😂
