So I recently just finished Book 5 and I need y’all to know Vil is like my top fav even before starting book 1 and I just ended up loving him more even now and how so much care and knowledge was written to create such a layered and complex character

I’m not that good in gathering my thoughts into posts like this but I just wanted to share my thoughts cuz I genuinely love the writing in Book 5 as of now :3

BOOK 5 SPOILERS KINDA

1. Envy

The baseline that drove to Vil into overblot. How his desire to play the hero and be on stage longer, his inner envy towards Neige, it accumulated so much from childhood till now and to the point of almost potentially killing Neige but I personally don’t think it was the main reason for his OB

2. Reflection

I’m going off by the official ENG translation but I really love his line before overblotting, “Don’t look at me with those eyes”

He knew what he was going to do if Rook hadn’t stopped him and he immediately regretted it, he became the role he detested for all those years and he hated himself even more for it, he couldn’t forgive himself, which I feel is the real reason he OB compared to a simple jealousy buildup over the years and wanting to be the best. I really like this route more as someone with intrusive thoughts during my worst, it’s a horrible feeling when you realised the horrible things you thought of and the thought of acting it.

3. Loneliness

The higher your power, the lonelier you become.

I feel like this can be said for like every housewarden but I’ve rarely seen ppl talk about this aspect regarding Vil. He couldn’t star in hero roles because he was TOO perfect and beautiful that an average person couldn’t relate, it’s the complete opposite to the rest of the housewardens where they were lonely due to being inferior/intimidating which is an interesting thing to spin the loneliness part onto Vil really well.

He didn’t even appear to have any close friends since childhood, I don’t think he’d consider Jack or Neige to be his close friends but more like at a distance due to how far Vil is in most things. But I don’t think loneliness is the main point of his overall character or trauma but it’s an interesting aspect to consider especially when fitting with the rest of the housewardens.

4. Jamil and Vil Parallels

It’s really funny Jamil shares almost the exact same thoughts as Vil and it brings me back to my second point considering both Jamil and Vil have someone they consider to be superior than them being the most pure and kindhearted person (Kalim and Neige). It’s even more interesting Kalim was the one that escalated the OB and not Jamil from the previous pattern of OB characters escalating the next char into OB. Book 5 expanded a lot on Kalim as a character and he never makes the same mistake twice once he learns which is why it was heartwarming he saw the same eyes Jamil made in Vil’s and tries to stop him.

Bonus :

Rook constantly being the observer in the background and always watching out for Vil really warms my heart, even if its for the good, he always thinks the good for Vil specifically. He saved Neige but only cuz he knows Vil isn’t that sort of person. He cares so much about him he’s so sweet.

I really love love love how they touched on how being an actor can make you be perceived. As a kid you’re very impressionable towards specifically live action actors playing a certain character because your brain would find it hard to find a separation between actor and character and could even paint one as a villain in real life. It has happened before and it’s still a thing now so I really love they added this in even if Vil doesn’t seem to be too bothered by it but it minimally added a little fuel to the fire on why he hated the roles as a villain.

Anyway I really love Vil as a character I can dissect him forever nobody can make me hate him I love him so much 😭😭😭

Does komaeda really lack empathy? I mean I've seen tons of ppl portray him as such but I don't think that's the case. I think this interpretation of him stems from his reaction to his classmate's death, but I read his reaction as a result of him not being taught about how to properly cope with loss so he resorts to hope as his only coping mechanism. In conclusion, I think he DOES feel sadness when he faces loss and CAN empathize with other people.

Nagito has learned through having so much trauma to use his coping mechanism and has become numb to a lot of extreme situations. His coping mechanism itself is looking towards what he can predict about what he thinks is hope and whatever his luck may do, the luck also gives him anxiety when good things happen because he know bad luck is coming. This all results in tonal issues. He does not lack empathy, his mentality is just extreme. This is literally in the text. Quite literally. He has no reason to lie and generally is an honest person, this is especially proven by the fact that when he gets the despair disease which Reverses their Personalities he gets the Lying disease. He weirds out everyone by rambling and being extremely honest while being at his worst, this doesn’t mean he can’t lie of course, but he generally doesn’t.

Nagito does not lack empathy, he lacks the proper response and understanding. His absolute beliefs, what he sees as objective, his coping mechanism, and his trauma all lead to tonal issues and lack of understanding of other’s perspective on the topic of hope and despair. Every single case In Danganronpa 2 is personal to the point it wouldn’t make sense for him to die, Nagito is frustrated and doesn’t understand why anyone more capable won’t just kill him so he can help somebody capable creating pure hope. He doesn’t understand because he’s become so far gone with his coping mechanism and beliefs that he sees it as objective. It works the same way in reverse too, the others struggle to understand him because they can’t understand how he sees it as objective. Some of them don’t even try because his rambles are so insane to them. Hajime is the only one who tries, he’s hurt and conflicted but he cares. He doesn’t want to think about it, but when he is forced to he is able to fully understand him. They solved Chapter 5 by Hajime being forced to put his trust in Nagito again to understand a fragment of his worldview and thought process.

Nagito feels empathy and is genuinely saddened by every death and has to cope with it in his unhealthy way. If Nagito didn’t feel empathy or cared he wouldn’t have postponed the test in Danganronpa 3. Nagito has the ability to understand and share emotions of others, he just has a coping mechanism and is traumatized which that causes his reactions to come off as uncaring. Funnily enough, he shows empathy and sympathy for Hajime in the first few seconds that we even see him.

Hopefully this helps to understand that he does indeed feel empathy and that the idea he doesn’t feel empathy or sadness is honestly a harmful misinterpretation some people have. Thanks for your ask!!! <3

This is when Fenrir asked for Aventurine to teach him avgin-sigonian for his Masters in linguistics - it took him a lot of courage to do it because Aventurine has a 50/50 chance when it comes to asking about his Avgin heritage, he either feels like 10 bajillions daggers and his ancestors coming to beat his ass or he feels appreciated and seen for his dead culture and this gambler is the only man fenrir couldn’t read fully.

They started out normally but fenrir keeps beating around the bush to kind of get aventurine pissed off so that he couldn’t feel sad, like too focused on being angry to hate himself type shit. As they are, they’d probably end up in a fist fight cuz yk, if you got recycled, youll still get the marks of what you once were (talia lore) the question dropped in the middle of the fight and aventurine just said yes on a whim- fenrir broke down and just be liek ‘HELL YEAH VASHA YOURE THE GOAT’

i know i talk a lot about how caring fenrir is towards aventurine most of the time but that isn’t really how they act “canonically” UHGF

Theyre bicker, pester and shit. theyre the only one who can get under each other’s skin and sometimes their little momentarily bantering do distract their self esteem bc they lowk find the other person more annoying (when the suicide hotline hung up on u and ure too confused/pissed to kys typa dynamic). they act petty and would often annoy the other but would never say a bad word and would still do anything to save them. because in the end, fenrir and aventurine still considered each other family (old married couple with early love beef) considering their journey through talia together.

they still know that the reason why they found comfort in each other so easily despite all the tension is because, really, they are the same side of two coin. They are each other’s foil, they emphasize each other’s character - which is something both fenrir and aventurine HATE (self-loathe hell yeah jigsaw) but also they found that there are also others with the same wound.

They bite each other, but its their teeth that stopped the bleeding.

i feel aventurine is charming and he compliments everyone bc thats gonna get them to grow on him - yk ppl likes compliments. if theyre not affected by compliments? money. if theyre one of those “i dont like compliments and money” he’ll just act crazy, putting himself on the line and bending them to his will by other forms of manipulation. i don’t feel like aventurine values relationship because he doesn’t even value himself, which is an important factor in a healthy relationship (regardless of romance or not). Most of his connections would mostly be transactional and he does have very few people he kept by - Dr Ratio, Trailblazer, etc.

Fenrir? he hates himself too much for compliments to work. he’s too talented to need money and he’s also a master when it comes to manipulation. As they are, same sides of two coins. fenrir has the same issue with aventurine, none of his tactics worked, he couldn’t bend aventurine to his needs so easily. so with the forced proximity, stranded in the desert with no one else but each other, they learn to co operate rather than to use one another. Both Fenrir and Aventurine would be forced to not see their relationship as transactional - and thus create a foundation for a more genuine relationship.

The only way they can break out of their habits of seeing everything being out of obligations is when they’re forced to turn their head a different way. if they were given the permission to stay, they will stay in the hellhole that they found comfort in rather than the ground where they can walk freely because they never learned to walk without the weights - they will fall because they can’t balance themselves.

People who ship incest… get real, it’s 2024. This includes half-siblings, step-family, adoptees, etc. because they ARE relatives. Yes, I have seen ppl in this fanbase say it’s ok to ship adoptees because they’re not “real family” — specifically using Thor/Loki as an example (in the replies of a post about Merlin & Mordred having a “brotherly” relationship, no less). Those of you still shipping Arthur/Morgana and Morgana/Morgause… A ship being gay doesn’t magically make it progressive. Racism and misogyny — particularly this fandom’s misogynoir towards Gwen. Common sense, except many of you will read this and think it doesn’t apply to you when it does.

If you think that Arthur is incapable of loving Gwen as much as he loves Merlin (despite the opposite being true in canon), if you call Gwen “a beard” or act as if Arthur broke centuries of tradition to marry a servant out of “convenience” or to use her for her womb — why do you want Arthur to objectify this woman so bad?

If you think that Merlin would’ve needed to teach Gwen, Lancelot, or Elyan how to write despite the fact that Gwen and Elyan were co-running a small business with their father for years + the season 1 photoshoots of Gwen writing + s5 Gwen writing onscreen + the fact that Lancelot and Merlin were writing each other for years — we get it, you watched Holes.

Villainizing Gwen and/or Elyan (e.g. the Kingdom Come fan script). Gwen accepts Merlin’s magic with a grace that Arthur doesn’t offer in the same episode, but fans often interpret Arthur’s reaction with good faith and ignore Gwen’s entirely. She and Elyan both suffered the wrongful death of their father when Uther accused him of consorting with a sorcerer and didn’t give him a trial. Elyan saw/experienced firsthand the wrongful persecution of the Druids when he was possessed by the spirit of a Druid child, so fics where he is disproportionately aggressive towards magic while Leon and Arthur are disproportionately calm are especially transparent (e.g. that Arcane Dominion fic on Ao3).

If you think that whole Helios arc (especially with Gwen’s outfit) or all the “Southrons” shit in the show wasn’t racist (or, if you don’t know, please look up what orientalism is and how it affects people irl).

Homophobia - a lot of merthur shippers (and others, but one’s kinda more popular) have a lot of homophobic beliefs. For example, if you think that sub = bottom and dom = top, that is both misogynistic and homophobic. If you think that Merlin or Arthur (or, like, Gwaine) is “weaker” than the other and decide their position as dom/top or sub/bottom based upon that criteria, again you are being misogynistic and homophobic. This goes double for presenting Merlin as a dom/top because of his magic (not in general), when it’s pretty clear in the show that magic peoples are experiencing a genocide because they are stereotyped as dangerous. Hmm, I wonder what groups this logic might apply to in real life who are demonized and hypersexualized to justify their eradication… not gay and trans people, or poc, or other oppressed groups! They could never have anything in common with a hypothetical oppressed group !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Transphobia - fics going on about how “[x gender] could never [perform y reproductive function]” is obviously something you say when you forget or ignore that trans ppl exist. Doesn’t matter if you’re making fun of mpreg or whatever, and no it’s not just merthur fics.

Religious persecution - first of all, if you generalize any persecuted religious group/culture or decide that genocide is justifiable towards some people, you are either a Nazi, a Zionist, or some other white supremacist, and you are not welcome here.

When you villainize Merlin for keeping his identity a secret in a society where he is, in written law, to be executed for the way he was born, you’re sending a horrific message to people who should never feel guilty for the most bare minimum acts of survival. Fiction is informed by reality, and may support certain societal aspects/ideas in return. Stories are a form of speech, which is cycled through the sociopolitical atmosphere of the storytellers. You are not immune to propaganda, but you are especially susceptible if you refuse to acknowledge that even allegories exist.

There’s also the fact he shows no discomfort whenever L touches him specifically during Yotsuba arc, and also the fact that in the manga he asked one of his friends to send him a holiday card to which his friend replied “I only send them to girls” which is essentially stating this is a romantic gesture and Light did just ask for it.

And yeah I know about the kataang stuff. It’s weird for me too. See Lawlight is my OTP hands down. Kataang is a strong second contender. I don’t care for Zuko and Sokka, I think it’s kind of in that same category as zvtara and I don’t care for that ship at all.

I actually ship Zuko with Aang lol. Like Zuko and Aang when they’re older, I can get behind zukaang 100% in part because they are like that kindred spirit thing similar to lawlight to me. I really enjoy that aspect of their relationship and I again think canonically, zukaang would be plausible if it weren’t for maiko and kataang.

I’m sorry I’m getting to this very late. But.

I haven’t read that chapter so my opinion might be a bit off.

I think he’s a very interesting character. I do think he is a jujutsu freak, but not in a bad way. He didn’t really have a choice. There is no world in which he could have come out normal with six eyes and limitless. I do think he cares about people, I think he cares a lot.

I don’t think anyone can really fully understand him. There was a point in time in high school where Suguru understood him, they both had strong techniques and were on the same level. That didn’t last very long though. It’s really sad to think about how lonely it must be to desperately want someone to understand you, and for everyone else to think you’re this god.

In terms of how he died, I think he understands it wouldn’t have been fitting to die from a disease. In the world of Jujutsu, most sorcerer get killed. And he’s the strongest, so of course he’s gonna go out in style. I think he thinks it was a good ending to his story, it would have been boring if he was 70 and in bed surrounded by his loved ones, no matter how much he deserved it.

I do think he cares about strength, but not in a bad way. I think he purposely goes out of his way to help yuuji and yuuta because they are strong, and they don’t know what to do with it. I think he can see himself in other kids. There was a time when he was clueless.

I think he finds them and tries to aid them because he doesn’t want them to be used. I think he understands that sorcerers, especially strong ones, are used as pawns. He’s used for his strength, and his best friend was used until he was tossed away like trash, shoved aside to rot until he left.

So I think he does care about strength. I think he appreciates it, and wants to help those who are confused. Caring about strength doesn’t have to be a bad thing.

Plus, we see that he cares about people who aren’t as strong. Like Nobara. She’s strong yeah, but when you compare her to the likes of yuuji, yuuta, and gojo, she isn’t comparable. But he cares about her and thinks shes cool in her own way.

I think when people talk about his obsession with strength they make it out to be this hideous, nefarious thing when I really don’t think it is like that.

He knows no one will understand him, but there are some people who might come close, and he wants to help them so they don’t get treated terribly.

Would he be as interested in yuuji if he didn’t have Sukuna? No. I don’t think so. I think he would still care, but he wouldn’t be as interested. Sukuna is a legend in jujutsu, so of course gojo is going to be interested. But also, he understands that yuuji was put in a shitty situation and he doesn’t know what to do and no one understands him either.

I think people don’t understand gojo which is really sad. Obviously everyone’s free to have their own opinions, but I think people who think he’s this killing machine are missing fundamental aspects of his character.

If he really was like that, why would he have left Suguru alive for 10 years? He cares so much about people.

If he only cared about strong students, why would he mentor everyone else? He does this because he wants the next generation to change everything, to not treat people awfully.

like the thing that i think a lot of ppl gloss over is that a large majority of the talon aligned heroes have little to no interest in the actual ‘goals’ of the organization (to the point where we still don’t entirely know what talon wants or why they exist, lmfao) so much as it just being a means to an end. like we can all conceptualize that sombra is pretty much just there because it gives her access to more resources she can use towards her own goals, moira is there for research opportunities and funding that she’d never get elsewhere due to the nature of her work, i can only imagine that ramattra’s alliance with talon (and thus null sector’s as a whole) is purely situational because it provides advantages he considers useful, reaper is pretty much just there because they’re against overwatch therefore he can use it as an avenue for his revenge, even doomfist doesn’t really seem to hold as much stock in talon as an organization as he does use his position as a tool to achieve his goals, if it stopped being useful he would likely just walk away.

in opposition to the overwatch aligned heroes who all seem to be coming together solely for the sake of this like, ideal of Overwatch as a concept being this paradigm of good and justice and doing what’s right, and rallying behind their faith in the organization and what it symbolizes… i genuinely don’t think any of the talon operatives really care all that much about talon at all. it’s just a job. like, sure, we’re doing cartoon supervillain shit, but the pay is decent and we’ve got benefits and i can continue to do my own thing on the side, no questions asked. it’s honestly a pretty sweet deal.

all of that to say i really don’t see why people seem so averse to the idea of sigma having that same mindset. like yeah, he’s not exactly thrilled to be using his research and abilities to assist in acts of violent terrorism, but does he have many other options? he says it himself in that interaction with baptiste, talon gives him everything he needs - funding, resources, something to fall back on after being in total isolation for decades and coming out with absolutely nothing. it’s a guaranteed safety net — so long as he’s with talon, there’s absolutely no chance of anyone dragging him off or locking him up again, and so long as he contributes when he’s needed, he’s free to pursue his research to his heart’s content. does he regret it? sure, sometimes. i think they all do. i doubt there’s a single talon-aligned hero who genuinely believes what they’re doing is genuinely morally correct and sound. but ultimately in his mind he didn’t have many options left, so he had to settle for something he knew would at least guarantee his safety and continued freedom. it doesn’t really mean he’s being manipulated or held against his will any moreso than most of the other talon heroes, imho. he’s not proud of it, but hey, it pays the bills.

i feel like he regards it with a similar level of resentment/annoyance as i felt towards my horrible soul sucking corporate retail job of several years - like don’t get me wrong, the company i worked for absolutely sucked and i HATED how they operated, policy was bullshit and so much of it was unnecessary and needlessly counterproductive. but i also really connected with my coworkers in the same situation AND i got to get paid to do stuff i already would have been doing on my own anyway, and ultimately the experience i got and connections i made were really helpful in pursuing what i actually wanted to be doing with my life. it’s like if your shitty day job required you to kill people but they also like, got you hooked up with a place to live and a healthcare provider and all that shit and paid for all of your living expenses no questions asked AND gave you a decent budget to screw around with so long as every now and then you showed them what you were making and maybe used it to kill people more efficiently sometimes. i wouldn’t exactly feel any amount of loyalty to the company paying me but i wouldn’t exactly be in a hurry to quit either

Yeah Gray Wing is an ass lol. His problem to me so far as of finishing my reread of Thunder Rising mainly seems to be his obliviousness towards others. He will realise he has said something hurtful, will feel bad about it, and then nothing clicks in his brain that he should maybe apologise or try and correct it. He just moves on leaving whoever he upset feeling really bad about themselves. Granted he does apologise to Turtle Tail but that literally takes weeks for him to realise he should.

To me at least, his moving on to Turtle Tail didn’t read as a “well this is the only woman in my life left do who likes me”. He realises he does actually care for her more than a friend once her kits are over a moon old, and when they were born he didn’t know why but he really instantly loved those kits and wanted to be there for their birth and it just absolutely puzzled him as to why he felt that way about them.

When it finally does click with him that he might be into Turtle Tail he’s thinking to himself how he doesn’t want to be alone any more, but he’s thinking that because he’s missing Thunder, Storm isn’t in his mind at that point let alone Bright Stream

however, aside from desdemona’s father, iago is the Most and honestly only maliciously racist character, and it’s not even just towards othello lmao (looking at his speech about how a black woman who’s smart would only be of value if she married a white man 😒) like, i understand the ideology behind wanting to read homoerotic jealousy into his actions because why is he so fixated and jealous of this (1) man who has “everything he wants” and tbh perhaps it could work if the play itself wasn’t saying, in part, that othello cannot be trusted with the things he was “freely given” stolen because he’s black/dark skinned/from the Moors, however ya wanna put it.

however, what gets me is the play already does give reasoning behind iago’s actions. like as i was reading wiki and analyses of it after i finished my first pass of it, there seems to be a lot of “discourse” around iago’s motivations and how they’re not clear… but they are? at least to me? like, he’s egotistical, and big for his britches. he’s petty and jealous and feels that he deserves things simply because he wants them. he wants the lieutenant position because he feels he’s owed it for being done the disservice of having to serve a Moor in the first place and for being a tenured soldier for so long; and whether or not cassio is competent are neither here nor there, the point is if you get passed up for a promotion at work: work harder, accept it, or just fucking quit. but iago decided to make it everyone else’s problem. it really didn’t have much to do with desdemona herself (though i could argue that he was perhaps jealous that othello had a pretty wife who actually loved him; because even though i mentioned the racist sentiments about white women and black men earlier i don’t think desdemona is a racist character in the slightest: she fell in love with othello for who he is and she is faithfully in love with him to the end. that doesn’t change the outside perspective of those who see their interracial relationship, which is very translatable into real life in how interracial relationships are viewed but that’s a whole different conversation), nor do i think did it have to do with this weird homoerotic tension people want to force into the reading.

whenever iago says that he ‘loves’ othello, people should understand that in this time period the word “love” was (1) more freely used to describe a wide variety of positive emotions (2) in this context probably meant something more akin to “loyal” that he wouldn’t betray othello or that he values him as a subordinate should (which is clearly sarcasm) and (3) be read with heavy damn sarcasm especially when iago is not talking directly to othello. he doesn’t care about othello in the slightest; and i would argue that even if iago was made lieutenant from jump he would be scheming about how to become general. we would still have a play about how iago hates and wants to “dethrone” othello. like he’s just fucking selfish in how he treats everyone throughout the play lmao. he doesn’t even describe othello in a “i hate that i yearn for you” type of way like there is Nothing that can construct this narrative to me in the text.

so like long story short (i didn’t mean to rant but yknow ya got me going) i think a homoerotic reading of iago is just kind of out there at best and just irresponsible at worst. there’s plenty of other characters you can read as gay in shakespeare’s works, even fucking desdemona and emilia in this play itself have a better gay reading than iago and othello lmao.

tom is much the same in that he thinks he needs status and power and money to secure greg when greg has genuine affection for him. he doesn’t notice how greg doesn’t pull rank in america decides bc he’s too focused on keeping his position, and later on he’s too set on becoming ceo to realise he’s actually pushing greg away, frightening him into making that call he did to ken in the finale. the fight in the bathroom is the culmination of their frustration in how much they love each other and how the other just doesn’t understand that they do. tom can only see it as mistrust and disloyalty when it was a move for survival and attacks greg. greg can only see tom getting mad at him as ignoring all the hard work and love he has been putting in for him the entire season and that’s why he fights back. it is not fair to him that tom only notices when he does something wrong, when he makes a mistake, not when he does things right, not when he supports and cares for him like an ideal spouse.

i do think the sticker scene was laced with something - it felt different. special. i’ve said before but tom’s forgiveness was not by way of the materialistic this time, he didn’t offer money. he only offered his compassion. he told greg that regardless of his mistakes, he still has him. and greg probably realises then that the reason tom has been acting how he has is bc he’s been fighting for this position so hard to keep greg safe. i think this moment they realise that actually they love each other very much and it’s actually like. for real. greg’s sheer happiness, plus the way he checks tom out again like he has multiple times throughout s4 lol, indicates not only his relief but feeling comfortable and confident enough to act around tom like he has before - like his best friend and partner.

They really are out there with the same discourse cishets have about the community. They don’t understand using bi/pan as the norm or that saying everyone is bi/pan is not fucking inclusive. also is it just me or like writing smut has always been relatively easier than fluff or even suggestive banter type shit? because in smut, you can bullet point- yeah they gonna do this and this and this and call it a day but fluff requires some depth. a perfect setting for the fluff or angst to actually be enhanced.

And according to each author’s writing style, they have to add imagery, or like metaphors or engaging dialogues to make it work. For me, when I was writing suggestive/banter related fics for kuroo or gojo, I was staring at the screen in despair so that my brain conjures some smart words or a perfect setting for them to act on. So it was relatively harder for me. And if other authors have faced such similar challenges and yet post majority sfws, you can guess the amount of hardwork they’ve put into it and would love for any sort of appreciation of their work. And

Im not downplaying smut authors by any means, every piece of writing takes up a fair share of effort and even I’ve had my fair share of challenges in writing smut too because firstly I experience high key embarrassment proofreading it and secondly, good smut requires the same criteria too (it’s just sfw fics gets the floor to portray a reader’s personality more than its nsfw counterpart) it’s just we want the audiences to interact with these posts with the same enthusiasm and not read and toss it aside :((

i honestly am shocked by how many ppl commented on that. (someone said i was ‘insulting the intelligence of those who only read smut’ and was being ‘misogynistic’. i didn’t intend to do that, and think my words were taken out of context by that point, but it is what it is now.)

i do agree that with smut if i have an idea of the dynamic i want and what the characters might be into, i can plan a course of action for what is going to happen. sometimes i start w smut and then incorporate the plot later tbh.

you’re absolutely right, there’s nothing wrong with reading and writing smut. no one is any better if they don’t read smut than those who do. personally my comment was only towards the select who constantly intake content on here and aren’t always careful about what they read. even heavily more so towards the porn link posts too. hence why my original comment said ‘some’ because obviously it doesn’t apply to everyone.

i really do admire those who are able to world build so fluently and with great detail whether that is in smut or not. i agree with your point that it may be a bit more complicated to build a story without smut if you’re focusing more on characterization, personality, and setting. smut pieces that bring this to the table seem like the longer ones for the most part, but that doesn’t mean shorter ones can’t either. also i know it’s another tricky thing to mention is how people go about making their reader with personality or not bc ppl complain anyway anyhow when there’s something they can’t identify with.

at the end of the day i just wish to keep supporting ppls writing in general but also wish the tumblr community was more friendly like it used to be. a lot of ppl seem discouraged lately about their writing and i hope that things can get better soon.
