god okay but have you considered that
guy and honey who are broke college roommates turned lovers who dont make great money, they've scraped together coins for cheap gas station food and $1 dvd rentals for friday nights indoors. guy brings home dinner frequently because its cheap. honey has the public transportation routes memorized. their car/s is/are old, used and has more than a few problems that they're only fixing with duct tape and a prayer. their furniture is thrifted and upcycled with a little DIY work when manageable, or its handed down to them from friends, coworkers, family, etc. guy and honey who get food stamps and sign up for the programs around the holidays that supply people and families in need with a holiday meal. guy and honey who know plenty of tips and tricks to make their clothing last. guy and honey who are friends with the people at the food banks, pantries and soup kitchens, and who regularly volunteer when they have the time. honey, who has a (very small) veggie garden that sits in their window sill (it grows onions and mint). honey who hasn't bought a new pair of tennis shoes in like 6 years. guy and honey who bought their couch on facebook marketplace for like $20 from a guy in a sketchy alleyway. they collect their plastic bottles and cans to donate at their grocery stores for a bit of extra cash. their walls are mostly bare. they have a small tv on an even smaller shelf in their living room and college dorm era fairy lights hung behind the couch. they have a 14 year old plant that was gifted to them by one of honeys coworkers they consider a 'work mom' and it's one of their most cherished valuables. they eat dinner together at their "table" which is just two tv dinner trays pushed together with salt and pepper in between the trays. and its the mostbeautiful thing to them because it is their home that they created together.
bc i think u should consider it.

I'm kinda really into the idea of Fiddleford meeting Stanley before meeting Stanford.
Pretty early on after being chased out of New Jersey, Stanley ends up being chased out of Kentucky and drives the night through Tennessee until his car breaks down somewhere west of Murfreesboro. He gets the car towed to a nearby garage, where a young mechanic takes one look under the hood and says he'll have it ready in a jiffy. All Stan will have to do is pay a few bucks inside, and he can be back on the road in no time.
Sounds great to Stan, except - well, he's broke. He can't pay the guy. He knows this, but the guy doesn't know this, so Stan spends the next few minutes trying to talk up one of the old-ish Stan-vac Vacuums he's got stashed away in his trunk, hoping to give it to the guy in lieu of cash.
Turns out the mechanic is a chatty guy himself, and Stan learns a few things about him: his name's Fiddleford (Stan calls him Fidds right off the bat, and for some funny reason the guy's over the moon about it) he likes building little gadgets and the like in his off time, and he's working at his uncle's garage for a few months to earn some spending money before he heads off to some back-up college in California.
Next thing you know, Stan's got the trunk popped open and Fidds is examining the vacuum, humming and hawing and narrowing his eyes at the shoddy design. The car's fixed up and ready to go at this point, but Fidds is taking the vacuum over to a workbench where he's got a set of tools nearby, and Stan's following him, trying to explain that the vacuum isn't bad exactly, it's just --
"So, the thing doesn't actually suck stuff up," Stan says as Fidds deftly pulls the machinery apart. "I mean, it'll pick up some dust bunnies for a few minutes before giving up, but then it kinda - uh, spits them back out."
"Well," Fidds says, squinting one eye to look into the dust bag. "Aside from the clogged exhaust port on this one, I reckon you just needa fix that shoddy wiring to the motor and adjust the coolin fan. That'll take care of both problems."
"Shoddy wiring?" Stan groans. It wasn't like he was the one who had made the thing. He was only slapping his name over the handle and selling it. "What am I supposed to do about that?"
"It's an easy enough fix ," Fidds says. He rubs his chin and plucks the motor up, looking at it thoughtfully as he twists it to and fro and then adds, "If you want it to perform its most basic functions, that is. But I bet if I tinkered with it enough, I could make it even better."
Suddenly, he's got this almost manic gleam in his eyes, and Stan would be worried if the guy hadn't already piqued his interest. "Yeah? Better how?"
Fidds glances around the corner at his uncle, who's snoring away in a plastic lawn chair, then looks back to Stan. "Better as in it could pick up a dust bunny hiding under a bed on the third floor from the kitchen."
Stan's feeling a little manic himself. “Pal, as far as I’m concerned, you’ve just made this thing marketable to every single sucker from here all the way back to Jersey.”
Fidds doesn’t have the right tools there in the garage, so he says he’ll have the thing ready in two days. Which is fine with Stan, he doesn’t have anywhere to be anyway, so he asks if there are any secluded places where he can park his car for the night - which prompts Fidds to cheerfully offer up a spare bedroom back at his family’s farm. It catches Stan off guard, until Fidds explains the terms - he just needs to do some chores around the farm from sunrise to sunset, and that’ll take care of the room and the car repair, no problem.
So that’s how Stan finds himself in this little room somewhere out in the hills, sitting in a cushiony bed, suitcase at his side and car parked out under some sycamore and hickory trees. Fidds is at the door telling him what time dinner’s at and what time everyone gets up the next day to start with all the chores, and Stan is nodding, suddenly feeling like he could fall asleep where he’s sitting, even with the mechanic’s rapid-fire twang going on and on, which he doesn’t mind - the guy’s voice is nice. The bed is comfortable. The room is warm and dry and it’s about a thousand times better than sleeping in his car for two nights.
He kicks off his boots and he’s still nodding when he falls back, drowsy and relaxed, and falls asleep to Fidds’s voice explaining how the room’s available for a few weeks, as long as Stan’s up to working on a farm.
Stan wakes a few hours later to a plate of dinner sitting on the bedside table and some banjo tunes being plucked out somewhere outside. He looks out the window and sees Fidds sitting under a tree, sticking his tongue out as he adjusts the strings on his banjo before looking up and waving cheerfully at Stan. Stan waves back.
He wouldn’t mind staying here for longer than a couple nights, he guesses. Working on a farm wouldn’t be too bad.
(Throughout the weeks, they learn things about each other - like how Fidds’s family wants him to marry a nice girl, have a few kids, inherit the farm, forget about computers and physics and college - and how Stan’s dad kicked him out for ruining his brother’s future, and how his brother hasn’t talked to him in months and probably won’t for years)
(and once the vacuum is done, they try selling it together, and it goes well - until the vacuums are so strong that one dummy gets their arm sucked up into it right up to their shoulder, and someone says they lose a hamster to one - not that the dummy or the hamster suffer anything worse than minor injuries, but an angry mob chases Stan and Fidds right out of Tennessee and through Arkansas and all the way to Texas, where they find themselves feeling kind of despondent in some seedy little motel, and then Stan turns to Fidds and asks “Hey, you know anything about making the adhesive on the backs of bandages better? Or maybe just less painful?” and Fidds’s eyebrows shoot up and the manic gleam is back, and needless to say, they spend the rest of autumn being chased from one city to the next.)

I find it almost impossible to read Dinluke fics without witnessing ‘fandom osmosis’ idiocy. Esp those ones that are set in-universe, after ‘The Mandalorian’ s2.
‘The Jedi are not baby-snatchers anymore thanks to Luke!’ – you confused Jedi and Sith. Rewatch TCW.
‘Jedi despised stupid familiar bonds, but Luke doesn’t anymore, he loves his sister more!’ – Jedi never ‘despised’ families. Also, probably, if Luke wants to commit to his family – then he shouldn’t become a monk? The Jedi are monks, you know? And anyway, canonically Luke is very capable of Jedi-y letting go, he doesn’t have any problems with loving his family and being a Jedi.
Often it goes hand by hand with Luke coming to Din and them creating a nuclear family ‘because Grogu needs his dad!’. Canonically, Grogu is raised as a Jedi (fuck s3 retcon, because Disney wanted money from DinGrogu brand). In the end of s2 he lets Din go, he’s capable of living without his foster father.
It’s not uncommon that Luke eventually joins Mandalorian culture, throwing Jedi-ing out of the window. I won’t even comment on it – obviously a warmongering culture is preferable over a peacekeeping one. Because the latter doesn’t encourage having spouses and kids in a common sense. /s
As a cherry on the top – ‘poor Anakin never was given a chance to love his son properly, because Jedi never allowed him. He’d be such a good dad!’ – yeah, sure. The same guy who choked his pregnant wife. Even in the sweetest fix-it I cannot imagine Anakin becoming even a decent father without tons of therapy before.
I love Dinluke, but are there any fics that are NOT shitting all over Luke’s culture? (Btw, Luke’s a Jedi, less of a Tatooinian, his Tatooine heritage is not important to the canonical story at all, he seems quite happy to leave the planet behind and commit to Jedi).

Zero distance (Harrison BE)
Ellis (BE) Harrison (BE)
I found here a translation of the first two chapters, a premium ending, and even an epilogue.
But before I start… I wanna mention that in every story, one of the other guys shines. In Liam's story, it was Alfons, in Ellis' story - (obviously) Jude, and in Harrison's… Victor. For some reason, this combination seems extremely right.
In the first chapter there was a very peculiar comment of Victor.
Popcorn? Lets see...
This is a fragment from a Wiki article.
But... this is in US. What about UK?
We have a problem… Guys, you need to fix this before anyone else notices.
Bitter ending
When Harry suggests a counterattack, Oliver is hesitant. There is very little time left until the next show. Harry tells the children that if they help, they will make it in time. Kate thinks Harry is testing them to make sure they really want it.
The children agreed with Oliver..
They set a trap to catch the leader. And after they finished, Harry told the children they should leave the rest to the adults.
The leader has fallen into a trap. Harry suggested him to choose his own fate.
I'm changing Harry's words a bit. Translator said: "you will become food for the lion as the centerpiece of the show", I can't imagine Harry letting the kids see a lion eating a person (and this is a circus, there defitenely will be children there), so I decided to say that the star of the show is a lion, not "his food." Maybe I'm wrong, and he said it to scare the guy.
Hello, sweety. My real star of this show…
Victor's intimidating smile makes the leader tremble. And for obvious reason, he couldn't choose for himself, Vivi made the choice for him. He takes the cage with him and pushes it away, but before leaving, he told Harry to talk to the child, who obviously has something to say.
And again Lionel admitted (the same thing happened in the premium ending) that he hid the key because he hoped that they (Harry and Kate) would help them (the children). For saving the children, Kate and Harry were allowed to watch the show from the front row.
After the concert, they walk down the night street… They were tied up again, but not with handcuffs, but with a red ribbon.
It was part of the show. Kate asked if they should take it away. But Harry replied that everything was fine, she seemed to like it.
She's upset because she thinks she's bothering him again. He (as in the premium ending) admits that he never felt annoyed while they were connected, he was laughing because she looked so cute…
Oh, no, he's blushing…
He said he knew they were different. And despite that, he chose her.
That means you don't have to change to adjust to me. He's so cute…
That's it. I'm in a cotton candy paradise. Has this world always been so pink?..
Kate said she loves him exactly for who he is, and she doesn't mind changing for him as well. You know… If you both do it like you said, you'll be the exact opposite of each other again.
I can't stop smiling. It was incredibly sweet.

There’s this guy in town who owns this little house, and a while back he rescued a street dog that was going to get put down. Turned out she was pregnant.
Problem is, he has mental health & drug issues and couldn’t afford to get them all spayed & neutered, so now there are 6 grown bitches with 15 puppies total, and they’ve dug under his fence in multiple places but he can’t afford to fix it so they go roaming all around town. (When I say can’t afford it, I mean his house is currently running on a generator because he can’t afford his electric bill.) He’s also a day laborer so he cannot take multiple full days off work to take them to the vet an hour away. He’s in a really rough spot.
He’s not a bad person. He’s just overwhelmed.
And this little conservative town with 6 churches for 300 people, have they tried to help their neighbor? Have they adopted the puppies he’s been trying to give away? Have they offered resources?
NOPE! All they wanna do is talk shit about him and complain about the dogs but never lift a finger of their own. And they come to his house to yell at him and cuss him out about the dogs, which does not exactly engender in him a cooperative attitude, as you might imagine.
So after a while of this going on, my mom gets fed up with all the NIMBY bullshit and starts talking to the guy, because she’s done animal rescue for 20-odd years and has Connections. He’s resistant at first, but when he realizes she’s not being an asshole to him on account of his addiction or the dogs, he decides to let her help.
She gets to work organizing and networking. Finds a non-profit that will cover vaccinations, spay/neuter, and flea treatments for all the dogs. Talks the next-door neighbor into paying for materials to fix the fence, since this guy can do the work of it himself. Gets him in touch with another non-profit that will adopt out the adult dogs.
Less than 2 weeks after she decided to do something, all puppies have been to the vet, 10 puppies and 4 adult dogs have been adopted out, and the second non-profit is coming by next week to pick up the remaining 7 dogs to ship them out for adoption.
I’ve learned a lot of things from my mom—some good, some bad—but I think the most important positive message she lives as an example of is this: sometimes, when something needs done and no one else is willing, you gotta stand up and say “I’ll do it.”

being alive at the time i gleaned some general elements abt encanto but never actually heard we don't talk about bruno beyond awareness it existed popping off & i think i heard like the title recited off key off rhythm but in a way that indicates speak singing nonetheless lol so upon experiencing it it's like oh but it's the Verses? while the last refrain goes harder but prior to that it's comparatively underwhelming to said verses which feels appropriate like verses / pieces of a larger picture & that a "we don't talk about him" as a disappointing Lid on infinitely richer more characterful & dynamic "but: talking about him" instances. like well personally it'd be like um seven foot frame....anyway besides being able to firsthand go like oh damn Real (the kind of thing you know exists if alive at the time) it's like alright hang on lol. one thing when a core theme is yeah like "is it a refuge if 'especial' vulnerability ultimately gets pushed out rather than made safer" subset like the parties whose even observation of truths (problems) & drawing attention to them is seen as Ruining Things, like if you're painted as Making futures that aren't simply what's desired or reassuring rather than a guidance via just observing & sharing the truth. but then it's like whaddaya mean living in fear of bruno stuttering and stumbling you could always hear him sort of muttering and mumbling lmao like now that's just Association between the Truth Perceiving & Telling behavior & behavior that's just apparently distinctive of the same person. & like Not Accidentally when [what if people were magic] specifics are obviously primarily abt a metaphorical meaning & like, indeed it was made clear like oh this situation isn't Just b/c [boo we hate your prophecies] & that [an Ability that isn't directed towards what anyone Wants / is "weird" even by these magic standards] isn't Coincidentally given to someone who just so happens to already be "weird" in other ways & be set up to have a different perspective & be pushed away due to having the supposed "extra" vulnerability of unmet needs / insufficient support, same as someone who doesn't "correctly" have any kind of magic ability....like yeah banger and also like Oh Yeah Kind Of Devastating re: that metaphorical resonance allowing for like [set the metaphor aside] now hang on with this about this disabled family member lol. misinterpretation to The Ruinerrr / The Problemmm / The Maliciousss etc (i.e. the scapegoatinggg) despite their efforts likely entirely to the contrary. then despite like, efforts aside, Just Existing, always kind of muttering & mumbling like & what of it. & then like oh sorry weird pets. weird [auspicious for adaptable tenacious thriving surviving; either way simply creatures, existing] pets.
truly like As Is The Idea I'm Sure quickly becomes like hands behind back standing at the window Uh Oh Sisters musing on all the [disabled person] metaphorical & already literal elements there. blair witching it in contemplation like We've All Been There whether being so resented for the mere disruption of "existing in a group as the 'abnormal' odd one out" or like people talking shit abt anything associated w/you as soon as you've left the room, which is also made relevant like, this wasn't Only directed at this person when seemingly permanently gone, nor were they unaware / unaffected prior....pacing in the Musing parlor like things don't Have to be compared to billions but i only ever even see so many things & it's like billions sure is like "get scapegoated rword" & then said scapegoating is presented as only beneficial & we hate autists & even beyond that it's like, grabbing billions, Imagine If Things Meant To Be About Something Were About Something. quite a contrast when they are & furthermore like, deliberate thought & Care for [who gets scapegoated & why] & the truth of like, people getting pushed aside & out who have a key perspective & are primed / liable to come through for others similarly vulnerable & the supposedly Ruinous, Problems Generating disruptiveness is actually the strongest effort to make essential changes to a group. & come through with like, it'd be undermining thee point if it was "reassuring" us like oh haha people will be supportive b/c bruno will be more normal, so great that it Didn't like no, no Normality Reassurance(tm), presence of abnormalities(tm), Good, & everyone Can Deal b/c if you don't then it's pushing this person away, is exactly what happens, including even if they're still Around but are being mistreated b/c that is entirely part of that pushing away like anyone's victim blaming is ready to pounce at any time but if someone can't stand to stay / leaves b/c they can't see another option like that's not out of nowhere nor Regardless of what full support & flexibility they were getting lol. these Active Measures everyone loves so much, which are everywhere always & would include Staying & Trying To Make It Work & those efforts would be "disruptive" & resented & Bringing It On Oneself & etccc smh
that is to all say like. Woww when clearly basically the core thread was these beats of like, the crucial site of [thee scapegoated], & why that comes down on someone & how that plays out. endless ideas about how someone weird(tm) & disabled (&/or queer. but there's no Or here lol. & again like it's a Context like, to even be the one person without kids? likely not living up to "full" correct sexuality in that way alone; any oppression's logics of "inferiority" being logics of ableism, ready examples being that "inferior" race, gender, sexuality (& their experiences as people classed as inferior) all being pathologized as disordered) are seen & treated as someone Ruining Things & who cannot belong like whew. bracing. winding. which, i also recall like i was watching with headphones & during this one dialogue pause i was like "?? what's this Extra Sound i heard there" & had to go over it like twice before being hit upside the head like well it Was still the dialogue pause but it was also bruno Stuttering in a very quiet whisper for the duration of that pause before continuing like iiiiiiii x_x
