A loud crash from down the hall caused you to jolt upright in your bed. The cool air seeped through the thin cloth of your shirt as you stepped out from under the covers and locked the door across from your bed.
You jumped out your skin as footsteps raced up and down the hall, the slim line of light under your door slipped into your room, the faint shadow of two sets of shoes lingered outside. Heart racing quickly, you rushed to your wardrobe and hid between the tops and trousers piled in each corner.
A loud crash echoed throughout the room, the yellow candle light from the hallway chandelier leaked into the room, letting the dressers and cast aside shoes and toys bask in the beautiful glow.
“Search the room.” A tall man in a black jacket barked at a group of soldiers, giving them orders as they raced to check every spot in the room. Under the bed, behind the curtains, beneath dressers. Anywhere and everywhere.
But fear jolted through your body as one walked over and reached for the handle on the wardrobe. The bright white light of their torch as it flashed in your eyes made you flinch.
“Found the kid.” The soldier yelled over to the man, making the man in charge race over as they pulled you out.
You kicked and squirmed to get out of the soldiers grasp but couldn’t. The man in charge looked down at you, urging you to be calm.
“My name is Agent Crawford of the FBI. You have nothing to worry about, you’re safe now.” He smiled softly, not expecting the harsh kick to the stomach you gave him.
A single gunshot echoed down the hall as well as two thuds.
“Mama?” You called out.
Enough squirming finally became useful as the soldier loosened his grip to much and you ran off. Panting like a dog, you rushed down the hall until you got to the master bedroom. You came to a halt, seeing blood cover the hard wood floor and the body of your Mama and Papa sprawled out. A knife lay in your Papa’s hand, his grip slowly loosening and his eyes briefly glancing at you before softly gazing off into the distance.
The colour drained from your face as realisation set in.
As you tried to run over, a hand caught the back of your shirt. Tears spilled out your eyes and rolled down your cheeks as you fought against whoever was holding you back. You yelped quickly as they pulled you into their embrace holding you tightly against their chest. The slow rise and fall of their breathing calmed you slightly as they held you in place, not letting go no matter how hard you struggled.
Pain stung your soul as you were dragged away from the scene, watching everyone else allowed in. Everyone was able to see them except you. Their child.
“I’m going to set you down now, can you promise to not run?” The voice hummed through your body as they kept their hold on you. Their voice was soft but rough, round yet pointy, like the sharp end of a dull pencil. An accent as well. Not one you had heard before- or ever. It was pretty though.
A small nod was all they needed to trust you.
They gently set you down with a grunt and watched as you turned to face them. He was a well-dressed man, in his mid 50’s with greying hair and nice brown eyes. You gazed up at him and saw him reach for your face. Worry set in and you reacted the only way you knew how.
Fear and acceptance.
You clamped your eyes shut and braced for him to strike you. Instead he tussled your hair, his touched moving down to hold your shoulder.
“Theres no need to worry.” He started, bending slightly to be at your level. “You’re safe with me.”
You felt tears run down your face as you opened your eyes. Staring at him, a look of happiness settled as well as a soft smile as you hugged him. You clung to his midsection, feeling his arms embrace you, one hand tangling in your hair and the other rubbing your shoulder.
Someone gently cleared their throat from behind you, causing you to begrudgingly let go and turn. Another tall man, thinner framed than the one behind you, with casual clothes on, messy brown hair and thin rimmed glasses on the bridge of his nose.
“Dr. Lecter, can I speak to you over here?” He asked.
A soft hum left Dr Lecter’s lips as he stepped around you and walked away with the other man.
Curiosity got the better of you as you spotted most police and FBI agents trying to get press away from the windows, giving you the opportunity to see your mama and papa.
Quickly and quietly, you waltzed into their bedroom, under the crime scene tape. You saw the blood that rolled from your mama’s lifeless body. Gallons seemed to have drained from the wound in her chest. Her eyes were cold, desolat of any feeling or emotion. She was half covered in a black bag, yellow pieces of paper with numbers in bold surrounded the cornered off area.
The floorboards screeched under your weight as you knelt next to her, brushed the bloodied hair off of her face. A sob left your lips as you looked at her. She always said she’d never leave you, not after the deal of issues she and papa had went through to get you. She made sure you knew she wouldn’t leave your side.
She hadn’t lied fully. You were beside her. She just didn’t know.
You hadn’t realised the river of tears sinking into your shirt and the amount of sobs that echoed in the room.
Heavy boots raced to your spot, grabbing you under your shoulders and dragging you out of the taped off area. Your body began trembling. The adults surrounding you watched and began trying to help you as you shook like a leaf in the wind. All their words blurred as you fell into someone’s arms.

Your eyes opened slowly, analysing your surroundings. The soft beeping of a heart monitor, machines huddled around the twin bed, dull walls empty of anything other than scattered motivational posters.
A hospital room.
“Good. You’re awake.”
A gasp left your jaw agape as your gaze shot over to the speaker.
“My Name is Will Graham, this is Dr. Hannibal Lecter. We both work with the FBI and wanted to speak with you about your abductors.”
“Abductors.?”
Dr. Lecter folded his jacket and placed it on a chair beside him. He stepped forward and placed a hand on the guard on the edge of the bed. “The people in this drawing.”
He placed a sheet of brightly coloured paper on your lap. A crudely scribbled sketch of a family of three stretched across a plain sheet of paper with your name on the bottom left corner. The family was your mama, your papa and you.
“The perfect, happy family.” Your papa always said.
You listened closely as they began to explain who your ‘parents’ were.
Drug smugglers. Human traffickers.
Mafia boss father and mother who dabbled in modelling. They had wanted kids with each other since they met, but found out your mama was infertile.
That’s where you came into the equation. They saw you at the park with your family and just knew the three of you would be perfect together.
So, of course, they stalked you and your family. They found out your school, when your parents went to work, when you’d be alone with a nanny. Apparently, one day your old nanny went ‘missing’ so your parents hired a new one.
Dr. Lecter suspected that you were either unconscious when your parents were killed or suppressed the memory. You couldn’t remember it if you tried your hardest.
Your face contorted as you heard your mama and papa had drugged you with each meal to keep your their little angel.
Oblivious and innocent was what they wanted.
It was what they needed.
Your heart sunk as Mr Graham spoke about how your father had lost all their money in casinos and splurging on stuff he wouldn’t need.
To save himself and his wife from their investors hunting them down and spending hours torturing them before killing them, he decided to commit to a murder-suicide plan.
Turns out that Mr Graham had been the one to shoot your papa right as he had plunged the knife deep into your mama’s chest.
Your breath hitched as you thought about how horrible that must have been. Life of both yourself and your wife’s fading in front of you as an agent drags your child away. No chance to say goodbye. No nothing.
You sobbed into your palms as you held yourself still, threatening to tremble once again.
Dr Lecter placed a palm on your back, rubbing gentle circles into your skin and assuring you that ‘Everything would be okay in the end.’
For weeks you waited for that good end.
You were cooped up in that small hospital room for what felt like years until you were finally permitted to leave under supervision.
That supervision was, of course, Dr Lecter and Mr Graham.
When you were out they would take you to cafes and restaurants you liked, as well as clothes shopping and toy shops. They gave you everything you wanted.
Dr Lecter brought you to his house at some point too. He cooked for you and let you hang around his kitchen and watch. After some time Mr Graham came to the door, surprised to see you answer.
Will threw you over his shoulder, delivering you to Dr Lecter. He gently placed you down next to him before closing the oven door.
“Could you two set up the dining table for me? I forgot to do it earlier.” He said softly, going back to chopping up vegetables.
You and Will grabbed some cutlery and began placing things down where you were kinda sure they went. Needless to say, Dr Lecter had to rearrange them all.
After a lesson on how to set a table properly, you were allowed to start eating.
Hannibal smiled as he saw you happily chewing away. He hadn’t seen you smile properly before and he thought it was adorable, especially due to the fact that it was at his cooking. Such a small creature that had been through so much yet still had a smile on its face.
Will had taken notice as he watched you guzzle down your food. His gaze focussed on you before glancing at Hannibal, as if communicating with him. Hannibal looked back and smirked softly.
You looked at them as you finished your food, seeing that had been done for a while. A gentle apology left your mouth before Hannibal swiped yours and Will’s plates away.
Will walked towards you and took your hand in his, saying he had an amazing surprise for you. He guided you upstairs and to a door with a white sign on the handle,
‘Y/n’s Room’
You looked up at him, eyes shining with wonder and he opened the door.
The door rolled open with a loud creak and stopped just before hitting the wall. Will flicked on the light and presented a room- your new room. You quickly stepped inside and began to explore but stopped at a burgundy desk pressed up against the wall below a window.
On the desk was a paper with lots and lots of writing you would never read. You heard Hannibal’s footsteps come upstairs and stop at the doorway, watching with Will as you read the title of the sheet.

Simple skin & accent tutorial!
I'm only familiar with making accents in CSP so some of the things you see here might be program specific, but for the most part it should be generally applicable.
Okay with that being said, here's a very basic tutorial, under a readmore because it got long (image heavy)
Assuming you already know roughly what you want to make and what breed pose you want to make it on, go to the custom skins page on the sidebar then download PSDs. For this step I'm choosing coatl F!

It should download automatically, the file will be compressed (zipped). I normally just open the folder and move the top file (without elements_friendly) to my accents folder to access it from my art program:

Open your preferred art program and open the file! It is a PSD file so it should be compatible with most art programs. When you open it, everything should look like this:

The layers probably look complicated, and it isn't super clear where you can and can't draw- but I promise it will get easier to understand! Before I even start drawing I do two things: I resize the image (changing the image resolution) to 700px by 700px. This means the image the resize better later on when I need to downscale it to 350px by 350px. Next, I make a new folder under both the existing folders with a single, full white layer in it. And set everything in "Through Skin Parts" to 50% opacity.

Lastly, put the bottom two folders completely out of your mind, we won't be touching them at all. The only folder that matters is "Through Accent Parts". As I'm drawing the accent itself, I make the lines and shadows layer invisible because they can just be distracting, like this:

That layer beneath both lines and shadows layers? The one labelled "Accent Goes Here"? That's where you draw, and you can make more layers to draw more on later. For now you can sketch your design on that layer. Here's my sketch for my skin Strawberry Pavlova:

It's pretty rough at the moment so I want to add another layer to draw my clean line art on, in CSP this means just adding another layer and turning off clipping which automatically applies as the layers above it have clipping turned on. When that's done it should look like this:

(You can absolutely use more layers for lining if that's what you prefer!)
Next is adding colour. An important thing to note for this step is to avoid using colours that are very close to black, and to avoid using black altogether. This is against skin and accent rules as you need lines and shadows to remain visible over your design, and very dark colours make this a lot harder!
When I typically colour my skins and accents I will separate out design elements (so for example all plants on one layer, all blue cloth into another layer, all jewellery on another, etc etc.) into different layers- this is purely to make recolouring easier and isn't necessary. In this case I didn't have my colours separated out as I had no intention of recolouring this skin! This is what this skin looked like when I was finished colouring:

Now I just need to do some final finishing polish on the design! For this one it involves adding a bit of pink transparent colour behind the strawberries, adding pale transparent colour under my lace and of course- adding sparkles! One of the final things I do is recolour my own line art to a red-pink colour (in this case I had it set to multiply as well- but this isn't needed!) this takes some of the harsh edges out of the accent and make the design feel more cohesive imo!

And the design is finished! The final step before we can submit this is a big one! We have to change the lines and shadows that we've been ignoring this whole time. For this I flatten all the art work into one layer, like this:

Why do we have to change the lines and shadows? Well...

The default shadows are pretty high opacity and very grey, they cover up my accent and make the details harder to see. And the default line art is black. You can edit these layers to make them much nicer. You can edit them manually- making sure to lock transparent pixels so you don't edit the coverage of the lines and shadows. Or you can do this: (You can ignore this next part if you're finding it overwhelming) Duplicate your accent design twice (so you have three layers with it on total), set both your lines and shadows layers to normal and unclip them. Your layers will look like this:

Ignore what the accent looks like for now. Next move the copied layers so one is above the lines and one is above the shadows, keeping only one in the original position. And then clip these duplicated accent layers to the layers directly beneath them, it will look like this:

Merge the accent copy layers with its corresponding lines or shadows layer, you should still have 3 separate layers when you're done: The lines, the shadows and your original accent design. Like this:

Then clip both of the lines and shadows onto your accent design layer and set both lines and shadows layers to multiply. Like this:

If you've done it all correctly your accent should now look like this:

This is a lot better than the default lines and shadows already! It's pretty dark in spots and my lines are definitely too light in other places though. So next I usually start by setting my shadows layer to 50% opacity and then going over both lines and shadows layers manually recolouring the lighter parts to a darker colour so they are visible on top of my final design. When you downscale your art to submit it, lines and shadows that were super obvious suddenly vanish- so don't be afraid to downscale it and keep editing the lines and shadows.
Here's what the final product, downscaled to 350 pixels, looks like:

This got accepted first try by skin mods (just in time for valentines!) Important things to note: places where my design is less opaque the lines and shadows are also less visible, this is completely fine! You don't have to fix this. Lines should always be visibly darker than the shadows they're on top of, this means sometimes they will have to be black to get them to show up or you may even have to make your accent underneath lighter to get everything to conform to the rules! Lastly, lines and shadows are subjective and you may end up getting rejected a few times before they're to skin mods liking. Its one of the harder parts of skin making and you won't always get it right.
Community feedback is your best friend, don't create in a vacuum! Go join discord servers where other people are making accents too, ask for help! Now go forth and make!

Quick notes: I'm using Photoshop 2021 on Mac and working in video timeline. Must have basic gifmaking skills and know how to use layer masks. This is primarily a gif layout and text tutorial.

I used a light leaks/film texture, ripped paper textures, folded paper textures, and transparent pngs (arrows + post-it notes + smiley face).
We'll start with this gif.

Make your gif! The gif here is 540x600px. I color and sharpen it to my liking. Go to image > canvas size > change height from 600 to 770px. I left the anchor in the middle, though it doesn't really matter.
I drag and drop my folded paper texture and change the layer order so it's under my gif. Then I change the blending mode on my gif to Screen so the texture shows through the gif, but I keep the texture at 100% Opacity and Fill.
Now I move my gif around and add my ripped paper textures. I wanted to give it a sort of poster-like feel to it, so I made more room on the bottom for my main text and ended up with something like this. Blending mode is set to Lighten for the ripped paper textures.

I then use layer masks to hide what I don't want shown and add my light leaks/film texture. Blending mode on light leaks/film texture set to Pin Light, Opacity: 50%, Fill: 70%.
I use Levels and Brightness/Contrast adjustment layers to darken the gif up a bit more, then I add a patterned paper texture. Blending mode for patterned paper texture set to Lighten, Opacity: 100%, Fill: 75%. Result:

Now on to the text!
I'm going to be honest here, a lot of this was clicking around until I settled on something I liked. There's three layers to create this text effect. The font used here is King & Queen.
For the first text layer, the font color is set to black (#000000), font size: 87 pt, leading: 80 pt, tracking: 25.
Layer styles used here are stroke and drop shadow.

With all those settings applied, the first text layer looks like this:

Duplicate the layer, clear all layer styles, and change the color for the second text layer to white (#ffffff). All other text settings (including warp settings) should stay the same. The only layer style then applied to this text layer is stroke.

Blending mode for the second text layer is set to Difference, Opacity: 90%, Fill: 100%. Nudge the second text layer a bit so the first text layer is a little more visible or move to your liking.

Duplicate the second text layer, clear layer styles, and change the color of this third text layer to a dark grey (#1a1919). Again, all other text (and warp) settings should stay the same.
Layer styles applied to this layer are stroke and gradient overlay.

Blending mode for the third text layer set to Exclusion, Opacity: 100%, Fill: 100%. I also moved the third text layer around, down and to the right a few pixels to give it that 3-D Word Art effect.
With all three text layers active:

Next are the arrows.
Take your transparent pngs and place them to your liking. Blending mode for these is set to Difference, Opacity: 100%, Fill: 100%.
Command + click on an arrow thumbnail to select all the pixels in that layer. This is why the image must be transparent!
With that selection made and on a new blank layer, right click the selection and click on stroke. Settings for that are width: 2px, color: white, location: center. Move that a couple of pixels over.

Do this for all arrows for a total of 6 layers for arrows. I group them together to keep my workspace clean, then I duplicate my arrows group with no further changes made to the second group to get what you see in the final gif.
Next is the smaller text. It's three separate text layers for each word, so I can move each of them around to my liking.
Font used is Pea Wolfe Tracks, font color: white (#ffffff), font size: 24 pt, leading: 6 pt, tracking: 25. Bold and italic options checked. I set the blending mode to Difference, Opacity: 100%, Fill: 100%.
And that's it! That concludes the tutorial for this gif!
Now on to this gif.

We'll start with the background gif. There are three separate gifs. You could make them one gif, but I wanted the option to order them differently if I needed to.
All gifs in the background are the size of the canvas: 540x770px. Color and sharpen to your liking, but keep them all black and white. To get the blurry effect go to filter > blur > guassian blur. Set radius to 7.0 pixels. Add this to all three gifs.
Then I add two folded paper textures. Blending mode for one set to Lighten, Opacity: 60%, Fill: 100%. The other set to Screen, Opacity: 70%, Fill: 90%.
I found this tutorial a while back for a halftone effect. They include links to the halftone pattern used here as well as textures and gradient maps not used here.
I'm only using the halftone pattern here.

I also added a gradient overlay layer style to the halftone pattern which gives the gifs the color you see above.

Now on to the square shapes with rounded corners. In the interest of keeping this tutorial short(er), I found this tutorial on youtube that explains how to make squares with rounded corners.
I set my stroke size to 6px, stroke color to white (#ffffff), and fill to no color. I don't use the stroke layer style to make the borders of the shape like in the video! I'm only linking the video to show how to curve corners with square shapes.
Note: Be sure you know how big or small you want these to be and how they're going to fit on your canvas in order to make all the shapes and edit them. It can be tedious to change the settings.
Duplicate and resize to your liking.
In this instance, I wanted to make three squares total, so I had to duplicate twice and resize until I had something I liked.
Settings for the shapes used here are:
Innermost shape: W: 200px, H: 280px, corners: 50px
Middle shape: W: 220px, H: 300px, corners: 60px
Outer shape: W: 240px, H: 320px, corners: 70px
Once I have the size I want for all three shapes, I group them together to make a set and duplicate that group twice, then adjust each set on the canvas for my layout.
What the sets look like all together:

Colors used: orange #e47100, blue #0062d1, yellow #ecac00
To add color to the shapes, either change the color of the shape itself or use layer styles. I used layer styles.
Note: I didn't add the colors until the end after I knew what gifs went where and what color scheme I wanted, but I don't want to add more images than I need to here.
To keep this short, I found this tutorial on youtube that explains how to wrap text around a shape. However, I wanted the text to align on the outside where the white line is and not the green line (left image):

So I created another shape just inside the innermost square and used that as a path for my text (right image). Adjust the text to your liking until you have your text where you want it. Refer to the video tutorial if you need help moving the text along the path!
You don't need the shape path once you have your text where you want it, so use the layer visibility tool to hide it. You can hide your other shapes too so you can work with your text.
Do not delete your shape path!
I duplicate it once I start working with my "jock" text since all the sets are the same size. The "loser" text has to be worked a little differently, but we'll get to that later.
For the princess, jock, and loser text, there are two text layers to create the overall effect. For both layers, font used is Kiera, font color set to white (#ffffff), font size: 60 pt, blending mode set to Normal.
I added a gradient overlay layer style to the first text layer which I'll call the base layer. Opacity for this layer is 100%, Fill: 100%.

When I make my shapes visible again (minus the one I used as a path), I get this:

The shapes are clearly in the way of the text, whether they're above my shapes layer or under it. I use layer masks to hide what I want, so the text is legible. It looks cleaner this way and I wanted the text to be a part of the shape itself. I do that for each rounded square.

Now on to my smaller gifs. I like to crop, resize, sharpen, and color separately because my laptop and Photoshop would kill me if I tried to do it all on one canvas. I use the size of the middle shape for my gifs (220x300px), so I can have a little wiggle room when adjusting. I then use a layer mask to hide the parts of the gif that are outside of the shape.
A quick way to do this is to command + click on the thumbnail of the innermost square. With that selection made, I got to my gif layer and add a layer mask. Sometimes you need to invert it. Use command + i with the layer mask selected (not the gif) to invert the layer mask.

I repeat this process with my Steve and Robin gifs. I have to go back and forth with all the layer masks to hide parts of the gif/shapes I don't want for each set. It's kind of a long process, but not all that difficult. I label and group my layers together as I work to keep things clean and it helps me keep track of what I edited and what needs to be edited when it comes to things like this.
The picture below shows where I hid the bottom right corner of Nancy as well as the shapes that make up her set using layer masks. I also did this with the Steve and Robin sets, hiding the bottom left corner of Steve.

Similar text settings used for jock. The gradient overlay layer style for this base layer is different than that of princess because of the positioning of the text. Again, same as princess, two text layers are used here. Blending mode, opacity, and fill for both are the same as the princess text layers as mentioned before.

Image 1: We start with Robin.
Image 2: To make the loser text, I had to create a new path.
Image 3: I make it so the text is on the inside of the path instead of the outside. (Hint: Refer to video tutorial if you don't know how to do that.) I then adjusted the tracking between the letters in the word "loser" so they didn't look so squished together.
Image 4: Then I use layer masks to hide the parts of the shape I don't want shown.

You can then hide the path or delete it. You only need it if you want to adjust the placement of the text. I keep it (hidden) just in case.

Next are the post-it notes! This is probably the easiest part of making this gif. You just have to repeat this process for however many post-it notes you're making.
Image 1: To start, place your transparent post-it note where you want it. You can also rotate it if you'd like.
Image 2: Then create a text layer and write what you want. Font used here is Post. I wanted this text underlined to give emphasis, so I click on the underline option. I also adjusted the leading because I wanted more space between the word and the line. Rotate the text so it looks like it's written on the post-it note. Note: It looks better if you choose a font that looks handwritten.
Image 3: I wanted another line to give emphasis to the "Dingus!!" text and make it seem more handwritten. I use the line tool to create another line.
Image 4: Then I adjust that line to my liking.

how to make neon signs in inkscape!
I lost my mind and spent a large amount of hours yesterday perfecting my methods and figuring out how to do this, so if you're interested in making something like this:

here's how to do that!
step 1: cover your workspace in a dark grey rectangle, and lock that layer down.
I've been using 80% or 90% grey - you want this so you can see your neon effect, but you don't want it entirely black at this stage, or you won't be able to see your shadow layer.

step 2: create some text!
pro tip: rounder sans-serif fonts look the best for this, because think about what a neon sign is made of - it's tubes, bent into shapes! so if your font or design looks too sharp and pointy, it'll feel unrealistic when you make it neon.
(this is, of course, a perfectionism thing on my end, so feel free to ignore any and all rules in order to make the thing that you want to make. as with all art, you can do whatever you want forever!)
bonus pro tip: if you, like me, have over 1400 fonts installed and programs tend to lag when you browse through all of them, nexusfont is a great free software that lets you sort your fonts into categories, search them, and preview what any text looks like in different fonts! I love it. it is my best friend
now I'm going to do this with a few different fonts, so that you can see how it works with them. so today, I'm picking Futura Round, Harlow Solid Italic, and then to challenge myself, Beauty School Dropout and Block

make the text white, and also select the text and go to Paths -> Object to Path, because some things don't work right if they're not paths.
let's start off easy with Futura Round!
Step 3: duplicate your text layer
now bear with me here. but you need to take the text you're working with, and either right-click duplicate or copy/paste the layer until you have seven total copies of the text you're working with.

arrange them like this, making sure the top one is the first layer on the list (and so on), and then in the layers tab, label them like so:

pro tip: if you don't have the layers tab open, go to Objects -> Objects and Layers, and that'll pop it right up
Step 4: blur time!
switch to the Fill and Stroke tab, and make these changes to the paths:
glow small: 15% blur, 100% opacity
glow medium: 20% blur, 90% opacity
glow large: 50% blur, 70% opacity
glow xlarge: 70% blur, 70% opacity
your workspace should now look like this:

this is good!
pro tip: these numbers are just loose guidelines! at the end, mess around with everything to make sure that the glow looks right to you! nothing is an exact science
Step 5: shadow and outline
for the shadow layer, make it solid black, and then change the opacity to 50%
for the outline layer, we're doing something fun and weird. so right now it's a fill object, but we want it to be an outline instead! so let's hit the X in the lower left to make it empty, and then shift-click on...for the sake of this, let's say blue. to make our nice blue outline.
now's the weird part
now. use the align tool (Objects -> Align and Distribute), select the outline layer and the main layer, and align them so the outline text is exactly centered on the main one.
then go to Paths -> Path Effects, and when the tab opens, select just the outline layer, then click the drop-down arrow in the Path Effects tab and select Offset
here's our goal right now:
we want to offset the outline until it fits inside the text underneath it, and also mess with the stroke layer settings until you have a nice thick outline that doesn't overlap itself.
mess around with the plus and minus buttons. there are no exact numbers here; you just have to know when it looks good! but for me, the settings were a -0.34mm offset, with a stroke width of 0.700mm
this is roughly what you want it to look like:

now, with the outline layer still selected, blur it out just a bit until it looks fuzzy, and like the white center is a highlight rather than a separate layer. for me, the right number was about 8.3% of blur, to get a result like this:

Step 6: layering and changing colors
okay! at this point your work should look something like this:

you now want to select every layer except the shadow layer, and use Align to center them all on top of each other.
pro tip: make sure to untoggle "move/align selection as a group", otherwise this will not work.
you should now have something that looks like this, with the shadow layer sitting all by itself somewhere off to the side

now's the fun part: colors!
since we've decided that this neon light is going to be blue, it's time to change the glow to reflect that!
here's what it looks like when you change all of the glow layers to be that same, #0000FF blue as the outline layer

and here's what it looks like when you take the glow small layer and make it just a bit lighter (#4343FF) using the stroke and fill tab

in general, mess around with the layer colors until you like how they look! I find that it generally looks better if the glow small layer is a bit lighter, and the glow medium layer is as dark as the original color. everything else is fair game.
also the main layer can stay white (if you want it to seem very bright), or you can make it a very very light blue if you want it to be a bit more subdued.
Step 7: final steps
take your sad, neglected shadow layer, and move it slightly up and to the right of your main layer, so that it works...well, basically like a drop shadow.
then take your original rectangle, and switch it to 100% black.
now. gaze upon your masterpiece

but now. now's when we lose our minds
Steps 8-??: perfectionism and nonsense
so let's move the Futura one aside (and hide it! inkscape lags if there are too many blurry layers visible at once, so hide anything you're not using!), set the rectangle back to grey, and move on to Harlow Solid Italic.

I've sped through a few of the steps here (out of order) so you can see what I'm doing. I've added outlines to the large glow and xlarge glow, and bumped them up a bit so they'll have a larger glow area in general

this time I've made the large glow a little bit lighter than the xlarge glow and medium glow, and made the main layer a very pale pink instead of just white. I also blurred the outline layer just a bit more, because this font needed a bit more fuzz to make it look good.

hell yeah. this rocks.
now, one detail for perfectionism: in neon signs IRL, if you look closely, there are wires attaching them in the back, often connecting each letter to the next. so...let's do that!
get your pen tool, set it to spiro path, and then make little droopy lines connecting each letter.

make these thin, 100% opacity, and a very light (almost white) grey color. then group all of them together, and move this group under the small glow layer
pro tip: some of the cords might go mostly through the shadow layer. if this is the case, just put the cord group one layer above the shadow layer instead, and then it'll be fine. but you might make the cord color a pale-greyish pink to make it look like there's glow hitting it.
ultra advanced technique: duplicate the cord group, make it black and 50% opacity, position it slightly up and to the right of the original, and then move it one layer below it. you've got cord shadows babey!

and now: the one that will be the most work
let's gooo Beauty School Dropout!
this one I'm using as an example for what to do with a font that's a bit too pointy to look realistic

this font is really fun and bendy, but the ends of the letters are flat instead of rounded, and the corners are a bit too sharp. so...let's fix that!
now, there are several ways we can do this (after doing Object to Path ofc).
one way is to edit the path yourself, going slowly, and making sure everything is perfect, editing the nodes individually.
or, you could select the text layer using the node tool, then click the button in the top bar labeled Add Corners LPE, and then drag the little circles and triangles around to smooth out the corners

I've decided to do the LPE method, but the problem here is that if you apply the LPE effect before making sure all of the corners look good nodes-wise, it's hell to try and fix it. so before LPE-ing, look at all the spots that you're going to apply the effect, and make sure each has one point at each sharp corner, with no weird overlapping bits. okay? okay.
also for the line beneath the text, it looks like it's made up of a bunch of different segments

and since I want to keep this line because I think it looks cool, we're going to have to deal with that, and make sure that it's all one solid piece, otherwise the outlining won't work. so I've gotta delete all the extra segments, and then move the points on just one of those segments until it's the full original line width, before rounding those corners as well.
basically I've got my work cut out for me here, this will all take a bit.
...aaand an episode and a half of Supernatural later, here's this!

let's make an outline-style neon sign!
my seven layers:

for all but the last two, I've not used the fill option with them at all - I have simply used the stroke outline.
now don't be worried! the stroke-to-path still works just the same way even using an outline to begin with! so it's easy to get an outline of an outline, and do the offset thing just like you did before
however, because this font is more complex-looking, there will probably be some errors when you offset it

for example, it didn't fully outline the second half of the Os, so I just copied the left halves, mirrored them, and replaced the right half with the complete left half
pro tip: keep in mind that you have to re-apply the offset to any bits that you add to the outline layer!
doing the same steps as last time, editing the glow blurs as I see fit, once again we end up with beauty and perfection.

another thing you can do: turn off the lights!
I'm going to use Beauty School Dropout and Harlow for this, but after making your beautiful neon signs, here's how to make it look like a turned-off sign, for if you want to make...idk, a gif of a light turning on and off, or a burned-out sign, or something like that.
so start with (ideally, duplicated copies of) your neon signs:

and then simply delete every glow layer, change the outline layer to 90% grey and your main layer to 70% grey, change the cords' color to a darker shade of grey than whatever it already is, and lower the opacity of the shadows by about 10-15%.
doing that, you end up with this

bam! lights turned off!
last thing: logos and other stuff
you can make neon signs with images as well as with text! the steps are essentially the same, though you may have to do more editing to make it look good, and use simplify on the path if it's too detailed.
and if you're using anything besides an .svg, you first go to Paths -> Trace Bitmap to turn your image into a vector! but unfortunately I've already used 29 images in this post, so here, just look at this Keith Haring thing I made as an example:

is it messier than the text? yeah for sure. does it have some pointy bits I could smooth out more? definitely. but, I've watched three episodes of Supernatural today, and that is more than enough time spent on this. so this is what you get.
but yeah, that's how I make neon signs in inkscape! I used to do it in GIMP, but this works much better, and looks so nice and clean! <3

Solas doesn't care about Rook. He's tired, probably depressed and doesn't give a damn. But. What if it changes when Lavellan shows up? No more 50 shades of grey but it will become colorful again. The way it was back in time they were together.
(It also could work with Rook depending on relationship status they and Solas will have, but it's not for the solavellan type of post).
If Varric gave up on Solas (as John Epler said, he might) and Cole is out, Lavellan is possibly the only one person left who still believes in Solas. The only defender he has this side of the Veil. Advocatus Dei, I guess. (Or advocatus diaboli, depends on your canon Lavellan and their personality).
For some time Rook thinks Lavellan' first name is Vhenan.
What if the Lighthouse itself can react to Lavellan' presence?
The spirits, wisps and/or Caretaker knows who Lavellan is. (Not only because Inquisitor shined like a beacon with an anchor on their hand 10 years ago).
At this point Lavellan is well-known person behind the Veil. Demons are being urged to not bother them. Spirits are highly interested in them. Maybe even Ghilan'nain and Elgar'nan heard some echoes while they were imprisoned. And that's.. unsettling thought.
Solas can communicate with Rook but always avoiding Lavellan in any way. He doesn't talk with them, doesn't use Rook as a mediator, doesn't ask questions, doesn't argue if disagree because he still can't face his regrets even if think there must have been a chance to choose differently. They said they would've understood, but are they willing now?
Regrets, regrets, regrets.. so much regrets, but maybe and a tiny shadow of hope?

Ketu Dominant Men

Ketu or "Chaya Graha", envisaged as the dragon's tail or a headless form, is a symbol of the utmost spiritual significance in Vedic astrology. It is the shadow planet representative of the South Node of the Moon, and it has the most significant karmic role. Ketu represents the process of spiritual growth that comes from isolation, detachment, and renunciation. Through the immersion of intuition and ascetic practices, Ketu facilitates the shedding of life's illusions and aids in the journey towards spiritual enlightenment, demonstrating how its influence tends to embody the more complex and often challenging aspects of the human experience on the path to spiritual release. In the kundli (birth chart), wherever Ketu is placed signifies where the soul is stripped of its external dependencies and illusions. Simultaneously, the placement of Ketu indicates where one possesses natural power brought into this incarnation from a previous mastery in prior lifetimes. Tapping into this energy requires a process of purification, where one is compelled to let go of attachments, desires, and even identities that no longer serve spiritual growth. This celestial influence, while guiding us towards spiritual enlightenment through the accumulation of past knowledge and garnered lessons, is regarded as a malefic influence. It is often associated with the idea of sabotage or obstruction in one’s material life. Ketu's malefic character can be understood as a necessary catalyst for transformation. Just as a dragon's tail signifies the end of a creature and a headless form denotes a lack of conventional sensory perception, Ketu's influence is about the cessation of the familiar, more comfortable aspects of life. This nature of Ketu reflects the complicated and somewhat paradoxical journey of spiritual growth. Similar to Rahu, it challenges individuals by disrupting the status quo in ways that may initially appear destructive or sabotaging. These disruptions are not arbitrary, however; they are purposeful, forcing introspection and reassessment of one's life path for the sake of uncovering higher truth.
Ketu, in Vedic astrology, holds a significant influence on an individual's personality and life path, and this influence extends distinctly to Ketu-dominant men, distinguished by having primary placement(s) in either of the three Ketu ruled nakshatras: Ashwini, Magha, or Mula. Ketu's dominance in a chart often results in a personality that sets people apart in their approach to life, relationships, and self-expression. While many of these observations may apply to both men and women, there are particular traits and tendencies that seem to be more pronounced in Ketu dominant men that I'd like to focus on. By looking at the examples given in this post, I hope you'll be able to look at Ketu a bit more clearly through the expression of its natives.

In Vedic astrology, Ketu's influence in Ashwini Nakshatra creates distinctive qualities in men under its sway, embodying a dynamic and vivacious essence. This nakshatra conveys notions of speed, agility, vitality, courage, and tenacity, traits deeply ingrained in Ashwini men. They are often perceived as energetic and quick in thought and action, carrying a persistent zest for life that propels them towards new ventures and experiences with remarkable swiftness. This Nakshatra, associated with the Ashwini Kumaras – the twin horsemen sons of Surya (Sun god) known for their healing prowess in Vedic mythology – bestows upon its natives a natural inclination towards healing and rejuvenation, be it in physical, emotional, or spiritual contexts. Ashwini men exhibit an adventurous spirit and a curiosity that extends beyond the physical and into spiritual and intellectual explorations. Ashwini's initiatory nature also comes with the caveat of dropping old paths and starting again. They can be sort of "hit it and quit it" when it comes to many different things in their lives, and you will have to look to different areas of the chart to see if they can be "tamed" so-to-speak. Ashwini Nakshatra also holds a special significance as it is the exaltation point of the Sun, a factor that adds another layer of complexity to Ketu's influence in this nakshatra. The Sun's exaltation in Ashwini indicates a nature compatible and conducive to the energy of the Sun, which is known for its righteous purity and expenditure of energy in addition to its scalding nature when things get too close. Since Ketu cannot provide or reflect its own light, its ability to give energy will depend on the planets it is with and the energy it absorbs from others (but it will do best by itself realistically). This will inevitably create a sense of exceptional vitality, confidence, and a strong sense of self for these individuals. Ketu's celestial alignment with the Sun in this nakshatra suggests that, while Ashwini brings qualities of introspection and spiritual inclination (especially as it relates to initiatory beginnings), they also possess a powerful presence, an ability to lead, and a radiant quality symbolistic of inborn power. In essence, the exaltation of the Sun in Ashwini Nakshatra can bring forth a unique archetype of individuals who are not only seekers and healers but also leaders and changemakers.

Clear night sky, a warm breeze and the city of starlight. You thanked the Mother for the weather and sat in front of the mirror dressed in a grey robe. You were currently in the River house getting ready for your wedding.
“No!” Nesta shouted “I told you to put stardust on the roses.” Silence “I don’t care go find some”.
She entered your room with a huff, and you glanced at Mor’s reflection who was doing your hair. Both of you started biting your cheeks to suppress the giggles.
“Those idiots!” she exclaimed.
“Calm down Ness, I don’t care about stardust. As long as Azriel and all of you are there the wedding will be perfect” you smiled.
“No! You didn’t get to enjoy the mating ceremony or the days after it and, we destroyed the proposal. This wedding will be perfect!” She huffed.
“Okay get out you will make the bride nervous” Mor waived goodbye at Nesta but sighed when Feyre burst in.
“Nesta I need you to terrorize Cassian, he is trying to steady the arch and he is destroying it.” “I’ll fucking kill him. Who let him out of the cell?” She growled and you flinched.
Poor Cassian. You thought.
“He started whining about not seeing his brother getting married and about how the thought broke his heart and Azriel fell for it.” Feyre explained and offered a tight smile.
“Illyrian idiots” Nesta mumbled before marching out. “50 bucks Cassian won’t be at the wedding” Mor shouted.
“Make that 100” Feyre responded and followed her eldest sister.
“Mor… do you think that everything will be okay? I fear that something is going to ruin the wedding too and I don’t mean the arch or the flowers… something bigger.” You sighed and stared at your friend.
“Oh sweetie no, everything will be fine. We will have the time of our lives.” She smiled reassuringly.
“I hope so” you mumbled and stared at your reflection.

“Call your shadows back” Rhysand scolded “Let the girls handle everything, you and y/n need to relax. It’s your day afterall.”
“I just want everything to be perfect” Azriel sighed and paced in his room.
“Don’t worry brother, Nesta can handle everything” Rhys smirked.
“That’s what worries me” Azriel frowned “She might actually kill someone and ruin the decoration with the blood.”
Both of them started laughing and Azriel felt calmer.
“No no Ness I’m sorry” Cassian’s voice boomed through the halls making them furrow their eyebrows. The door slammed open and Nesta walked in dragging Cassian by his ear.
“Lock him somewhere, put a leash on him I don’t care but if I find him again in the garden touching the decorations, I will take y/n and leave.” She stomped her foot to make a point and left with a huff. Both males stared at their brother with quirked brows.
“I’m sorry I just wanted to make sure that the arch wouldn’t drop on your heads” Cassian said sheepishly.
“Don’t make me lock you in the cell” Azriel growled and picked his suit.

“Time for the dress” Mor exclaimed after putting the silver circlet on your head and setting the crescent moon between your brows. It was the same color as Azriel’s siphons, and you smiled before slowly caressing it with your finger.
Mor helped you into the dress and you stared your reflection in awe.
It was a white ball gown silhouette dress with small crystals that made you look like you were floating around the stars. It had a deep V neckline that showed off your tattoos and highlighted your breasts.
“It’s perfect” you gasped.
“You are perfect” Mor smiled, and you heard two more gasps.
Feyre and Nesta were standing under the door frame wide-eyed.
“You look amazing” Nesta wiped a tear while Feyre nodded with her jaw dropped.
“Thank you” you smiled.
You took a deep breath and let the girls lead you downstairs where some priestess waited and started chanting the moment they saw you. Your friends sent you kisses and hurried off outside to take their seats.
You walked in the middle of the four priestesses and started walking outside, their chanting got louder as you moved closer to your mate. Azriel was dressed in a black suit looking more handsome than ever, the first two buttons of his shirt were undone showing off his toned torso. He looked like he was created by the night and stars, and you blushed at the thought of taking off his suit.
The shadowsinger scanned your silhouette and his breath hitched. You could see a rosy shade appearing on his cheeks and his shadows darted to you, slithering around your dress and caressing your cheek. Once you approached your mate Nyx stumbled between the two of you offering to you your wedding bouquet. You giggled at the sight of the little bat dressed in a suit and crouched taking the bouquet and leaving a soft kiss on his cheek. He smiled shyly and ran back to his mom shout-whispering “I did it!”.
Azriel chuckled at the little boy and stretched his arm to you.
“You look mesmerizing” he smiled softly and kissed the back of your palm. “Likewise” you muttered coyly, and his smile grew.
Gwyn grinned and started chanting, her eyes turning white and her voice louder at each prayer.
“Cauldron strengthen this union, Mother bless their love. Bless them with happiness and fortune. Bless their bed and future seed. May all the gods be by their side new and forgotten.” She finished the prayers and picked the wedding bands giving one to Azriel and one to you.
“I vow to always love you, protect you and honor you. I vow to be gentle and understanding and make your days lighter till death do us apart.” Azriel spoke and placed the ring on your finger.
“I vow to be by your side in sickness and in health, to love and cherish you. I vow to be the light in your darkness and protect you from any harm till death do us apart.” You said and placed the ring on his finger. “Mother bless you” Gwyn shouted, and all your friends started whistling and clapping.
Azriel cupped your jaw and leaned in capturing your lips with his own and wrapping his arms around your waist. “I love you angel” he breathed into the kiss.
“I love you hubby” you giggled making him chuckle too.
You walked to your friends with huge smiles on your faces. “I heard that in mortal lands you throw the bouquet and the female who catches it is the next in line?” you quirked a brow and Feyre nodded. “Oh okay. Nesta catch” you shouted and threw the bouquet at her. She caught it and stared at you wide-eyed, Cassian poked her waist, and she spun around noticing her mate on one knee.
You couldn’t hear what he said to her but suddenly she burst into tears and hugged him tightly shouting yes again and again. Cassian gave her the ring and they both smiled at you thankfully. “Congratulations” you cheered.
You spent the rest of the night drinking and dancing with your friends. At some point you were all so drunk that you ran around the streets of Velaris singing and dancing and enjoying the cheers of the passing by faeries once they noticed your wedding dress.
Azriel grabbed you by the waist once you reached the main square and pressed you against his body. “My wife” he mumbled and kissed you passionately while your friends danced around you.
“Our perfect wedding” you whispered and let the happy tears escape.

Chapter 64 Sneak Peak: Pawn and King
The fog covers everything like a balmy damp shadow, the snow going straight to sublimation. Pockets of old streetlamp lights punctuate the darkness. But through it there are husks of metal rising like soldiers. The sky orange behind them from the distant lights of the city,
Jin’s car is there. Hobi spots it. Its blue paint stands out through the overlap of grey brush as his headlights roll over it. And then further in the darkness maybe 50 feet away, Jimin's car. Shiny and black like the husk of an insect.
You're about a mile away from where they must be doing demolition. A singular crane and floodlights shine, casting everything, the river, and this building into a grey-slanted light.
You pull around in the yard in front of the largest and most intact building. You leave the keys in it. Tumbling out the second it glides to a stop.
“Stay here.” You say, but Hobi gets out anyway. He hasn’t noticed the gun tucked into your waistband until now. It makes his pulse tick higher when you take it out. He stares at it.
"Hobi," he looks up at your face, and you flick the safety off. "Sink or swim?"
His hand finds yours. "Swim."
You shake your head like you're angry with yourself, not him. squeezing it once then letting it go. You don’t waste another second arguing. "Stay behind me."
You head off following the disturbed dust, Hobi trailing behind. Ducking from pocket of light to pocket of light.
He always wondered what happened to the gun you’d pointed at him that night you’d run away. That train ticket that still burns a hole in his pocket, a distraction maybe. He's spent the last few months fixating on it- and you of course too. Too fixated to notice the small things that he sees plainly right now. There are facts here that Hobi has not noticed.
The way you hold the gun is not practiced; and why should it be the only one who knows how to handle guns in the pack is Jimin? But the way you walk; completely silent as you transfer your weight from one foot to the other, is heartbreakingly familiar. Hobi knows how and why you've learned to move quietly.
It's almost a dance; the way you glide across the floor. The gun is an extension of your arms, like a dancer's ballet fingers. Spreading and flaying like a wing. Pinky to trigger and index finger along the barrel.
Hobi had always assumed that it belonged to Jimin. Hobi had almost forgotten about it. It was almost 6 months ago now, wasn’t it? there are some things that you never forget, and trauma makes his bones quiet. He's not as good at walking silently as you are- but if the crunch of his red Converse against the gravel bothers you, you do not have a tell.
Hobi feels like he should have asked more questions about it at the time, but now he just bites his lip and stays quiet. You'd promised. You'll tell him in time. Hobi trusts you.
That's the worst thing, isn't it? That Hobi trusts you. You've known he shouldn't since you picked up Jin's call.
Jimin is easy to find if only because he’s sitting in one of those puddles of light, leaning up against one of the containers on the ground floor. Alone. You let out a quiet whimper when you see him. You and Hobi pause in the doorway and Your hand on the gun goes slack
“Minnie!” you forget the gun and run to him, tucking it back into your waistband and falling to your knees at his side. Fingers finding water-dark fabric. Not water- blood.
Hobi stays there, his pulse thudding through his ears, an odd sort of peace to him as he takes in the details. The blood that pools dark on the dusty floor, bubbling. Jimin’s half covered with dust himself. Something wooden and red in his lap. The little bit of blood that’s dripped down his shoulder gathering there. There is a dragged-through patch of dirt a few feet away, more blood, a puddle of it. Jin is nowhere to be found.
Minnie’s eyelashes flutter. “Alpha-” you say. Almost sobbing in relief that he's alive. Alive you can handle. Alive you can work with. You bend down, getting your hand on his cheek.
“Hey pup” he murmurs, he laughs a little, half delirious with pain. He flinches like making the sound hurts him. “You came to the party" he coughs, "did you bring Tae?”
You pull back to look at him. “Tae?”
Jimin grins, eyes fluttering closed, pretty face tipped up against the light. His lips have blood on him- and it looks like a disturbing imitation of Tae’s lipstick. The shadows she leaves on your mouth, on his.
“Yeah- wanna tell her I love her. Wanna tell her that I’m sorry. Could you-" jimin's coughs overtake him, and fresh blood drips down the tips of his fingers, finding home in the soil below.
"Could you tell her for me?”

Growing up in the sweltering armpit of Hell has caused her to love the heat, but also crave the refreshing coolness of the salty ocean
Has so much fun slashing in the waves and dragging a resistant Vaggie into the water with her
“Come on Vaggie, it will be so FUUNNNNN, ohmygoshohmygoshohmygosh”
Brings all sorts of fun toys and trinkets to play with at the beach
Volleyball, beachball, speaker, sand castle buckets and shovels, floaties, and a surf board
Is currently struggling to learn how to surf, but is determined to get good at it
Wears the most extravagant, tropical, neon pink swimsuit
Would definitely start an epic game of Marco Polo with the others
Her competitive nature would cause the game to escalate quickly into a war-like battle
Will be in a good mood for the next couple of days because she is so grateful that she can go to the beach with her friends and experience this mini vacation

Vaggie is very much like a cat in water, she is practically hydrophobic
Has a thick layer of sunscreen, the largest sunglasses and sun hat, and will only stay underneath an umbrella
Stands in the sand with her arms cross refusing to get even a drop of water on her
Is wearing one of those scuba gear under suits, all black stretching down her arms and legs so that if water does get on her it doesn’t actually touch her skin
If someone tries to drag her into the ocean, the ex-angel grounds her feet into the sand, taking a battle stance, and threatens to gouge out their eyes
Unlessss it’s Charlie
For Charlie she will do anything
Despite her disdain for the water, watching Charlie have fun splashing in the waves causes a slight smile to form on her face, cracking her previous resting bitch face
Will go as far as to build sand castles and catch tiny crabs for Charlie so that she can please her
Tries helping her learn how to surf but is also is terrible at it

Alastor originally said he wasn’t going to go on this beach trip, yet somehow was found already lying on a beach chair by the time everyone arrived at the beach
Is wearing a Hawaiian T-shirt and red trunks
Brought a mini radio to drown out Charlie’s obnoxiously loud speaker, although ends up being isolated since no one else wants to listen to his old-time corny jazz music
Even though it’s lowkey a vibe
Actually prefers to have this new 50 feet radius of isolation, although Vox sometimes will sneak up on him to kick sand at him
Goes full on Radio Demon mode causing Vox to freeze in fear and slowly back up back to the rest of the group
Doesn’t go into the water and instead spends his time sunbathing to brainstorm evil masterplans like taking over Hell and ruining Vox’s life
Will send his shadows to go check up on the others’ beach adventures but will stick to himself
Also uses this time to practice his singing, specifically to the song “We’ll Meet Again”

Drunk Husk tries to play volleyball with the others, ends up stumbling around and falls into the sand after being hit in the face with the ball
Drunk Husk also exposes his jealous nature and after he sees Angel flirting with the hunks he stomps over to drag a whiney Angel back

Treats this trip as if it was a super important team mission, checking up constantly on the others and not resting until everything is perfect
Came to the beach in his blue soldier blazer and refuses to take it off even when swimming in case “a violent battle commences!”
Being a cold-blooded reptile, he ends up sunbathing for hours straight up raw: no sunscreen, no sunglasses, no umbrella or tent, bro is NOT afraid of a little sun
But is very much afraid of his Egg Bois boiling in the sun so as a precaution prior to the trip he engineered a clear cooler to fill with cold water that can drive around the beach kind of like a space rover

Can rest now that his Egg Bois are guaranteed to not cook in the sun
Being a snake he thinks it’s fun to pretend to be an electric eel and play pranks on the others

Until she decides to absolutely obliterate him and stomped on him slithering through the water

The beach is not exactly Vox’s thing, and no one understand why he tagged along on this beach trip
Being an actual TV, he begins to overheat and his screen starts glitching and flashing random colors  (uh oh the TV’s buffering!)
He also can’t be in the water… because he is a LITERAL TV
This is the one time he feels insecure about himself because he is unable to do practically anything at the beach
Put on sunscreen? No, that would mess up his hardwire. Build sandcastles? No, the sand would clog up his cracks. Play volleyball? No, the ball might crack his screen.
At least he looked good, he specifically bought holographic trunks, although he only wore them for 20 minutes because had to leave early
Was so glad to be back in air conditioning and far away from any large body of water

Is of course wearing a bright red and orange Hawaiian t-shirt with a pink lei hanging around his neck, and came with a digital camera to take photos of the whole experience

Brought a bunch of his rubber duckies to float with him in the ocean
This white as hell angel needs a whole three inch layer of sunscreen all over his body, and brought a whole ass tent which he magically set up in a flash with his “pure angelic poweeer”
Was the most excited to go on this trip and is already freaking out over the fact that there’s a snow cone truck by the shore
“I want to get a large one with Tiger’s Blood and watermelon syrup and—oh Charlie, look, they have a piña colada flavor too!”
It’s obvious Charlie gets her optimism from her father
Is running around the beach trying to do everything he could in the time that they had

Literally so cool, although she ends up nearly drowning everyone and it was at this point that Vox decided to leave
Is matching with Angeldust with her hot pink cunty bikini
Helped sneak in Angel’s flasks and stashed some drugs by hiding them inside her swimsuit bra
Is crazy energetic, has so much energy throughout this entire trip, that even afterwards on the car ride home she is belting songs at the top of her lungs
Yet when they arrive back at the hotel she is the first to pass out on the sofa

“Captain Buggy, the love of my life, I was on deck now and one of your freaks handed over some kind of box.” You entered your shared cabin and froze at the doorway. 
“Nine, ten. And a couple more for luck.” Buggy was wearing only pajama pants and doing push-ups with his fists. “Eleven. Twelve. Four times twelve, I'm still pretty good.” 
“Geeez! You should've warned me about this. I walk into the cabin, and there’s such a sexy picture. You’re half naked and doing push-ups.” You smiled and raised your eyebrows.
 “Like what you see, huh?” He chuckled. 
“I don’t just like it, I’m delighted! My love, the box.” You shook the package slightly.
“Wait. I'll do three more push-ups. One. Two. Three.” Buggy stood up from the floor. “The seduction program is completed, right, pumpkin?” He kissed you on the forehead. “Why are you looking at me like that?” 
“I love you, bastard! How did it happen that you took me to your ship? I remember my mother was screaming, “Y/N, he's a clown, stop, what are you doing”, while you grabbed the essentials from my closet and then carried me up the stairs on your shoulder.” You kissed Buggy on his cheek.
“See? I liked you.” Buggy wrapped one arm around your waist, and lightly poked your nose with his other arm’s finger. “I came.” Poked again. “And got you.” Poked again. “It's simple.”  
“Yes, just like a real pirate!” You giggled. 
“Hey, I’m a real pirate! We are on my ship, Y/N. I have my own flag and the crew.” 
“Oh, I'm sorry, my love!” You rolled your eyes theatrically. “How could I forget? The scariest crew in the whole world! And you are the most formidable of all the pirates! And you will definitely become the king of the pirates, and you will be feared in all parts of the world. But until that happens, look at the package. The new boy with grey hair who joined your crew a few days ago gave it to me. Said it was sent by some bearded guy.”
“Oh, this is my new set of cosmetics.” Buggy grabbed the box from your hands. “Listen, no one has seen or knows that I’m without... well... without makeup.” 
“No, I made sure no one saw.” You pecked him on his nose. “You know, this is even great. Can you imagine that I’m the only person in the world who sees you without makeup in the morning? I’m the happiest girl. Open up!” You clapped your hands. “I want to see what's there!”
Buggy plopped down on the bed and opened the box. You sat on his lap, began stroking his back and kissed his temple. 
“What's here? Shadows, powder, eyeliners. Lord, why do you need 50 lipsticks?” Your eyes rounded.
“We won’t be able to moor in the near future. I need supplies.” Buggy was taking cosmetics out of a box. 
“But not fifty lipsticks, Buggy!”
“I need this, because one cute pumpkin uses my cosmetics too.” He took one of the tubes out of the box. “Look! New mascara! Waterproof! So if I fall into the water, I'll at least partially remain handsome!” 
“I won’t let you fall into the water! I still need you in this life.” You took the mascara and twirled in your hands. 
“Okay, I need to go out on deck and go check on the fucking crew. But first I need to do my makeup.” Buggy looked at you and winked. “Can you help me, pumpkin?”
“With great pleasure, my love!” You kissed him on his lips. “I’m the luckiest girl. And you made me this, remember that.” 
Buggy stood up from the bed, holding you in his arms, and carried you to the dressing table. It was a huge wooden table with a large mirror and several bright lamps located around the perimeter of the table.
“I love doing this, to be honest!” You said happily. “Watching my Buggy turn into Buggy the Clown, but even under a layer of makeup I see the real you!” 
You stood up from his lap, took his makeup bag, placed it on the table and rubbed your hands. “Let's start! First the white powder.” You took a round black box and a large fluffy sponge. “Close your eyes!”
Buggy widened his eyes. “How should I look at you? No, pumpkin! It doesn’t work like that!” 
“Holy moly!” You rolled your eyes and threw up your hands. “It's starting again! Close your eyes, I'll try to make it faster.” 
“Okay! But I hope that when I open them, you'll be naked.” Buggy smiled widely. 
You dipped the sponge into the powder and began to gently apply it to his face. “Ouch, Buggy! Stop pinching my butt!”
“Sorry, Y/N, I couldn't resist. You're seducing me with your clothes.” He moved his hands to your tailbone.
“I can't seduce you! I'm wearing jeans overalls, Buggy! And I look like a garden gnome.” You said, continued applying the powder. 
“Have you seen yourself? This is one hell of a jumpsuit. Your ass looks fucking amazing in it!” Buggy clicked his tongue. 
“Asshole! Don't distract me!” You bit your tongue and tried to stay focused, running the sponge over his face. “And there you go... Done! Now for the eyeliner.” 
You picked up the black tube, unscrewed the cap, and carefully looked at the brush. You examined Buggy’s face from all sides, choosing the best angle of the light. “Oh, there! Don't open your eyes!”
“Have you undressed yet, baby?” 
“God, you're unbearable sometimes. Don't move!” You started to run the brush along his lash line when your hand twitched. “Stop pinching my butt! Otherwise, I'll poke you in the eye one day.” 
“Oh, if you will be naked at the same time, I’m not against such sacrifices.” Buggy smirked and opened his eyes. 
“Close your eyes! You saw me naked at night, calm down!” You squinted and drew a thin black line with eyeliner. 
“It was a long time ago, Y/N. I’ve already forgotten everything.” Buggy exhaled sadly and stretched his back a little.
“That was two hours ago, Buggy! Sit still!” You ran the eyeliner over his other eye and carefully examined the result of the work. “It turns out beautifully! Why is that all? Because I have a handsome canvas.” You pecked him on the lips, and he visibly blushed. “My Captain got embarrassed.” You giggled. “What's next? Bones or eye shadow? Let's draw bones.” 
You picked up a pencil, white paint and a sponge, and sat on his lap. “It will be more convenient.” You wrinkled your forehead and nose slightly. 
“This is too much, Y/N! Why are you doing this?” Buggy opened his eyes and placed his hands on your waist.  
“I do nothing.” You bit your bottom lip and began to trace the outline of the bones. "I'm just drawing." 
"You're sitting on me, biting your lips. It's kind of a turn on." 
“What's wrong with you today? You can't calm down.” You gently ran the brush down to his eyebrows. “Eyes, Buggy.”
“I'm a dirty pirate, pumpkin!” Buggy closed his eyes and began to lower his hands to your hips. “I never calm down.” 
“Yes, I noticed. Sit still, please!” You slowly began to move the brush from his eyebrows to below. “You have wrinkles. I like it.” You dipped the brush into the jar and felt Buggy’s hands begin to stroke your thighs. “If you don’t stop doing this now, I will tear off your hands and put them in the chest. Sit still, otherwise everything will be crooked. I can’t allow the captain to come on deck with crooked makeup. The ocean is calm and we can’t blame the storm.” You slapped his hands and continued drawing. “Hah, a little more and I will be able to do all this with my eyes closed.”
You grabbed his chin with one hand and turned his head in different directions. “Looks good. Look.”
Buggy opened his eyes and made a displeased face. 
“What's happened?” You asked, looking from his face to the mirror. 
“Not what I wanted. The bones should be bigger, Y/N. What is this? It looks more like the bones of a fucking dead quail than part of a Jolly Roger.” Buggy looked at his reflection in the mirror. 
“Oh, my God. How much more?” You rolled your eyes. “Should I draw something all over your face? I did bones as usual.” 
“No, not as usual. It’s different.” Buggy made a sad face. 
“Okay. Now I'll redo it a little.” You growled, erased the ends of the bones, and began drawing again. “Buggy! Stop it!”
“I do nothing!” He shrugged, answering calmly. 
“You're stroking my neck. Don't distract me, asshole.” You drew an outline for a larger drawing.
“It’s not me. It’s you sitting beautifully on me.” 
“You are unbearable.” You ran the brush a little more and squinted. “Look now, capricious boy. Are you happy now?” 
Buggy looked in the mirror for a long time, tilting his head now to the right, now to the left. “Now it is better.” 
“Hurray for me! Now I’ll cover them up for you and start working on the shadows.”  You dipped the sponge into the white paint and began to paint over the bones, humming softly. “It’s getting better and better. If you hadn't been fidgeting and pawing me, the whole process wouldn't have taken so long. Little mischievous boy.” You kissed his nose. 
“I'm not a little boy. Little boys don't do what we did this morning.” Buggy giggled idiotically and placed his hands on your waist. “That was so-o-o good! I like hearing your voice screaming my name loudly.” 
“Shit, I hope no one on the crew heard me.” You carefully ran the sponge over the white layer of paint again. 
“Fuck them! Let them hear. I’m the captain, and even if anyone says anything bad about you, I’ll throw him overboard.” Buggy wrapped his arms around your waist and looked at your concentrated face. 
“Thank you, my formidable protector.” You pecked him on the lips. “I love you!” You looked at his forehead again. “Okay, I'm done with the bones. Now for the shadows. ” You took a box of blue shadows and a brush. “Oh, I remember how at the beginning of our relationship, you were dying of jealousy when I helped your entire crew with makeup.”
“I wasn't dying of jealousy. I just didn't like it.” Buggy slowly rubbed your back. 
“Close your eyes. I'll draw you your blue things.” You looked down at him and saw him shaking his head negatively. “You don't want to close your pretty eyes? But you have to, Buggy. I promise, when you open them, I’ll be here.” 
Buggy exhaled sadly, closed his eyes and raised his head a little.
“Up, down. Wider here, narrower here. Blue here and here” You lowered the brush into the shadows and continued applying them to his face. “The perfect combination with the color of your eyes and hair. What are your plans for the evening? If you won't be too tired, maybe we will sit on the deck with wine and will look at the stars? I love it when we spend our evenings like this.” 
“Sounds great.” He slightly nodded. “Moreover, I bought you some bottles of wine when we landed on the island.” 
“Thank you, my love!” You pecked his lips again. “Done! So. Look. Do you like it?” 
Buggy squinted and looked at himself in the mirror for a long time. “Not bad.” He exhaled.
“You don't like it, right?”  You stroked his hair. 
“Well, Y/N.. You know, it all needs to be brighter.” 
“But it's still so bright, Buggy.” You looked in the mirror and then at his face.
“Not bright enough, pumpkin.” Buggy shrugged.
You glanced at his upset face. “Okay. I'll fix it now.” You stood up from his lap and began rummaging through his makeup bag. “Where is the glitter? I can't find it.”
“I moved it to the second drawer from the bottom yesterday.” He pointed to the drawer.
“Ok.” You leaned over, heard a giggle from behind you, and glanced at him. “Did you do this on purpose, clown? Did you purposely move the jars down so I could bend over, and you could look at my ass?” 
“Yeah.” He nodded contentedly, without a trace of regret on his face. 
“Idiot!” You laughed and shook your head. 
“What? You have a nice ass, Y/N and I like looking at it.”
You found the glitter and sat back on his lap. “You're lucky we're far out to sea and I can't escape from you.” 
“So that’s why I took you far out to sea so that you couldn’t escape from me.” Buggy hugged you and kissed you on the lips. “It was a strategic move, baby.” 
You rolled your eyes and dipped your brush into the glitter. “Now I will make my bright and handsome clown even brighter and more handsome. One. Two. Three. Look. What do you think?”
“Perfect, Y/N.” He snapped his fingers.
“And now, mascara.” You took the mascara in your hands, unscrewed the cap and looked carefully at the brush. You carefully placed your fingers on his cheekbones, pursed your lips and swiped mascara over his eyelashes several times. “Now your beautiful eyes look more expressive. Okay, we only have lips left.” You took his makeup bag and took out lipstick from there. You unscrewed the cap and unscrewed the lipstick spout. “Put your sweet lips closer to me.” 
“I heard something similar this morning from myself.” Buggy chuckled again. 
“Shut up, idiot.” You swiped the lipstick over his lips a few time. You set it aside and running your fingers across his lips, beginning to smear it around his mouth. “Damn, I think I overdid with lipstick today. See?” You showed him your red hand, which was smeared with a thick layer. 
“Oh, I know a way to deal with this!” Buggy hugged you tighter and pressed his lips to yours. You just squeaked something through the kiss, lightly patted him on the shoulder, but realizing that he wouldn’t stop, you wrapped your arms around his neck.
“Yes, that's much better.” You answered quietly, wiping your lips. 
Buggy looked at you, exhaled heavily and buried the top of his head into your chest. 
“What's wrong, my love?” You stroked his head. 
“Nothing, Y/N. I’m gathering strength for the day. I don’t want to go anywhere, but...” He muttered under his breath. 
“Captain’s affairs won’t take care of themselves.” You said quietly. 
Buggy nodded silently. You got up from his lap, watched him get dressed, periodically glancing at you. 
You helped him with the bandana and kissed him before leaving. “If you feel sad in the middle of the day, just find me. I’ll hug you, and you’ll feel better, agreed?” 
Buggy nodded and kissed the top of your head. 
“Have a nice day, my Captain Buggy. I love you!” You stroked his shoulders. 
“I love you too, Y/N.”

Representatives of factions in Veilguard
Apart from our companions, it seems that each faction in the Veilguard will be represented by a pair (or more?) of main NPCs. Some of them already appeared in the trailer!
Antivan Crows
Viago de Riva and Andarateia Cantori (Teia)
Fifth and Seventh Talon of the Antivan Crows, respectively. We met them both in Tevinter Nights and in the comics (Deception, The Missing). Viago is bastard son of Antivan King and master poisoner. Teia is an elven thief and seductress. Her raise in ranks was considered controversial, since she had no connections and is not of noble blood.
They are dating (kinda sorta?)

Grey Wardens
Evka Ivo and Antoine
Evka is a formerly Orzammar dwarf who was saved by a Grey warden and joined their ranks. Antoine is an elf from Orlais, who was tainted and saved by Joining. We met them in Tevinter Nights, protecting a village from a very non-Darkspawn threat, in short stories on Bioware website and in comics The Missing.

Veil Jumpers
Irelin and Strife
Irelin is a Dalish elf from clan Morlyn. She is a shapeshifter mage. Strife is a former city elf from Starkhaven who joined Dalish as adult. He is a capable archer (and older, at least 50-60). We meet them in Tevinter Nights, short story on Bioware website and in comics The Missing.
They were both confirmed to appear in GameInformer article, which I sadly can't link due to GI being shut down. Irelin also appears in the shot of the trailer.

Mourn Watch
From now on, this is speculation, nothing confirmed in trailer or other media. For Mourn Watch, I think the representative NPCs will be:
Audric Felhausen and Myrna
Audric is a formerly city watch member who now works for Mourn watch and guards/catalogues library. We learn something interesting about him in Tevinter Nights! Myrna is a mage who we meet in the same story he appears in.
Possibly in this shot next to door, as spotted by a friendly redditor!

Lords of Fortune
Again, no confirmation. We meet one Lord of Fortune in Absolution, though Bioware said the cartoon is its own thing and not connected to Veilguard.
In Tevinter Nights, we meet two possible candidates:
Hollix, nonbinary Lord of Fortune, who is expert at disguise. We might have already met them, but we wouldn't be able to tell! Probably human, but its unclear?
Bharv is a dwarf and experienced Lord of Fortune from Rivain.
No pics here either!
Shadow Dragons
This group is most enigmatic, as its completely new to us! It was never mentioned in any of the Dragon Age media before Veilguard. We do meet Neve in Tevinter Nights, though she isn't a member there yet (or she doesn't mention it).
Of course, one has to wonder if we weren't shown any NPC members bcs they will be some of the returning companions. Options include:
Dorian, our beloved companion from DA:I, who returned to Tevinter to fight injustice. He has the advantage of being always alive (unlike other companions, like Iron Bull).
Maevaris Tilani is a character from comics and also appeared in Tevinter Nights (and was mentioned in War Table mission). She is a Tevinter Magister, trans woman and also kin to Varric through marriage. She kicks ass and I sincerely hope we meet her!

Fenris, our beloved companion from DA2! He is a former elven slave and recently appeared in comics as someone who helps others escape slavery, which aligns with Shadow Dragons missions. He can die in DA2, but only in a very specific case - so I wonder if Bioware will pull Leliana with him and just say his lyrium tattoos saved him from death.
