Pitch Plan
29/04/2024
I have my pitch presentation of the 1st of May, so I have tried to refine my presentation as best as I could to get across my idea effectively.
I have added in pages that focus on the group aspect of the project, as well as my own personal work for the project and the background story for my character, which I'm hoping will show how unique our narrative is.
An additional thing I decided to focus on in my pitch is effective rigging and animation for this model. Since I don't have much animation experience as a games artists, I wanted to effectively show that I've looked into the proper techniques and believe that I can do it. I have animation and rigging experience from my Bachelor's degree, so I'm confident that I have the basic background knowledge to then be able to build upon in my piece. I have added extra time for my animation stage on my Gantt chart, so hopefully it will all run smoothly!
I'll be starting the experimentation process from next week.

Introduction
After the Live Brief project by Playground Games, I transitioned seamlessly into planning for my final major project. Given my deep-rooted passion and hobby for automotive modeling, it was only natural for me to decide that my final project would encompass a realistic and visually striking automotive visualization. To kick-start this ambitious endeavor, I delved into a comprehensive phase of research by immersing myself in tutorials on platforms like YouTube and closely studying the works of other accomplished artists in the field. This immersive investigative process was vital in shaping my strategy for achieving a level of realism that would truly set my project apart. Inspired by the incredible talents I encountered along the way, I sought to engage with some of these artists to glean insights and expertise that could further elevate my work. Aiming to establish connections with these creative minds, I made multiple attempts to reach out, only to find that most of them were occupied with their own commitments. However, amidst these challenges, luck shone upon me when I successfully connected with a like-minded artist hailing from the same native place as me, opening up a world of shared experiences and invaluable collaboration opportunities.

Blog 1 - Live Project
For week 1, our group decided to come up with ideas for the cutscene. One of the ideas was further developed by the concept artists after presenting them to the whole group. I will write in detail about the idea I came up with based on the story brief that was provided.
Summary The scene begins when the player and their companion ( to represent Hanse and Gretel ) enter the cave of an ancient god with tree branches and plant or tree stumps that look like they have bioluminescent veins. The cave also has a few scattered bones within it. The player advances cautiously into the cave's opening where rare ore can be seen growing from the ceiling. The ores are crimson and have a faint glow to them. The cave walls have branches and veins that give it an appearance similar to the insides of a creature. The cave closes from behind and the scene loses its main light source. The player and their companion turn around in surprise while the walls start glowing yellow as if they have come alive. The cave is now lighted by the ores and the walls. A face morphs out of the wall and hands start reaching out to grab the player. The player and his companion readies themselves into a fight stance after avoiding the hands and the scene ends with a wide-angle shot of the cave.

IDENTIFY UR PASSIONS ;
through identifying what things ur passionate about, ur tapping into what lights ur soul on fire. start passion projects. a passion project is exactly what it sounds like and its an amazing way to use ur own creativity and also serves as something to go back to when ur longing for that inspiration again.
its important that when u have passions and interests that u explore them and foster them. fostering what ur passionate about and practicing it makes u more comfortable and oftentimes when we are more comfortable in something we are open to doing greater things cuz were not constantly psyching ourselves out.
SELF EXPRESSION ;
self expression is so so important because when u express urself honestly and authentically, u uncover passions and ur values and so many other things as well. when u express urself its not only good for ur soul but u can express urself through so many different outlets.

u can express urself through things like art, poetry, song writing, makeup, and even just speaking. its a healthy way to release pent up emotion and passion into a beautiful piece. not only that but self expression fosters creativity and innovative thinking, so its a wonderful way to spark inspiration from within urself.
EXPERIMENT WITH YOURSELF ;
try out new things with urself and ur appearance. whether thats trying out different makeup looks, style, etc. experiment until u figure out what makes you YOU. if u already know ur own style and the things that make u uniquely individual, still experiment with ur look because thats what u do with a muse. the definition of muse is
a person or personified force who is the source of inspiration for a creative artist.
so be ur own creative artist and look towards urself for inspiration. another way to look for and foster inspiration is through pinterest. i have so many boards on pinterest for things that i use as inspiration not only for the songs i write but for my posts as well.

BE OBSESSED WITH URSELF ;
compliment urself constantly, be absolutely obsessed with urself to the point where you HAVE to love urself. loving urself is such an important and essential form of being ur own muse and just such an essential step as well. every artist loves their muse, every artists adores their muse so why should u be different?

🔪 3 Plot Twists That Slap (and 1 that should be arrested) 🔪

hello and welcome back to me yelling on main about storytelling crimes. today we are talking about plot twists. specifically: the good, the god-tier, and the why-would-you-do-this-i-trusted-you tier.
let’s go.
✨ The Twist That Reframes Everything ✨ a.k.a. the “wait. WAIT.” twist. This is when you drop a twist that doesn’t just add drama - it recontextualizes the entire story. It makes the reader go back and reread earlier scenes like “was this character ALWAYS sketchy or am I just stupid??” It retroactively changes the emotional weight of everything that’s happened. Suddenly that offhanded comment in chapter three hits like a brick. The romance subplot becomes 500% more tragic. The villain’s motive makes SENSE now. Delicious.
✅ Best used when: the breadcrumbs are subtle but real. The twist shouldn’t come out of nowhere - it should feel inevitable in hindsight. Like Sixth Sense, Knives Out, that one betrayal in your favorite anime you still haven’t recovered from.
2.🧨 The Emotional Betrayal It’s giving: “i would’ve died for you” energy. This is the kind of twist that hurts. You thought they were loyal. You thought they cared. They did care - and still did it anyway. Or they never cared, and now you’re spiraling. This twist slaps because it’s not just about plot, it’s about trust. It stabs the characters AND the reader in the same motion. Bonus points if it’s a slow burn betrayal. Bonus bonus points if the betrayer feels genuinely torn up about it.
✅ Best used when: the reader is emotionally attached. Don’t waste this one on a side character we barely know. Save it for the love interest. The best friend. The mentor figure with dad energy. Make it personal. Make it RUIN lives.
3. 🧊 The “They Were Dead the Whole Time” but Make It Interesting Listen. This one’s risky. It’s a classic for a reason but also easy to flop. But when done well? Haunting. Creepy. Unhinged in a gorgeous way. It doesn’t have to be death either - maybe the character’s been possessed. Or they’re not real. Or the narrator’s memory is lying. The KEY is to not lean too hard on the shock. Lean on the vibes. Give it eeriness. Make it a slow unraveling. Give us dread. Give us melancholy. Give us psychological decay with a side of unreliable narrator.
✅ Best used when: you’re writing something surreal, gothic, speculative, or emotionally weird. This twist isn’t about plot logic, it’s about atmosphere and emotional rot.
🚨 The Twist That Should Be Arrested: “It Was All a Dream” 🚨 I’m sorry but. no. if I read 80k words of someone’s descent into madness just to find out it was their stress dream and now they’re normal again?? I will throw the entire book into a lake. This twist erases tension instead of escalating it. It invalidates everything the reader emotionally invested in. It’s the narrative equivalent of gaslighting. don’t do it. UNLESS - and this is a big unless - you’re doing it with INTENT. Meta intent. Dream-within-a-dream psychological horror intent. If you’re gonna do it, it better haunt me. It better RUIN me. Otherwise? Into the lake.
okay that’s all. go forth and commit plot crimes responsibly. bonus points if you use all three Good Twists in the same story and then look me in the eye like “oh was that too much?”
it wasn’t.

(especially elaborating about other senses as well.. can you "hear" in your mind just as well as you can "see"? taste? etc.) It's an interesting topic to me, as someone who's like a 4.5 at MOST lol. #tumblr polls#hrmm... a little poll perhaps.. about a subject I find interesting.. since this image came across my facebook today#still really not feeling that well. no longer shaking violently and such but I still feel weird and weak much more than usual#They did say my markers for like infection or inflammation were elevated but that they werent sure of the cause so hopefully#it's nothing too serious. they did also say a lot of different things can cause that thing to be higher than normal but didn't go into spec#fics of what. maybe some of them are relatively benign or something. I still havent felt much back to normal since#I got really sick that one time though. I feel fine on and off but then little bouts of feeling weird and sick happen. hrmmm#ANYWAY.. looking for small ways to be productive. such as little doodles on evil ipad or editing game videos#or posting polls or cat pictures or some other like not very labor intensive things#I WISH I COULD FOCUS on writing HHRGGhh... I need to finish my game.. it would be so freeing.. a project that's been looming#over my head for like 5 years even though througouht that 5yrs I've probably spent a total of 3 months working on it lo.. ANYWAY#I still partially really cannot beleive that people CAN see stuff in their heads. There's always part of me that's thinking like. well mayb#e everyone DOES see the same exact thing but we just describe/conceptualize it so differently that we think we're talking about#different things when we're really not. But I have been assured by people I've talked to about it that they can GENUINELY really see#stuff in their heads like as vivid as an actual picture in real life or something. And the other senses are neat too. Like for exmaple I#can hear in my head much better than I can see imagery. I still CANNOT hear vividly like as if I were listening to actual music out loud..#but I think it's developed more than my sight. AND interesting how this varies the creative process. a friend I was talking to on the phone#said they write by literally just watching stuff play before them like a movie. where my process is COMPLETELY different. AND that affects#the content/what details we focus on as well as our individual styles of writing have differences that can be traced back to that.. hrmm

While getting some final inspiration before submitting my pre-production work, I found this piece by Dustin Brown. This is a 3D modelled character made using Maya. Dustin is a senior character artist at Insomniac Games, so this is a really high quality art piece to take inspiration from.
Venom has a similar head shape to the character I want to create, so in this piece I'm really looking at the way he has modelled his teeth and mouth shape. Additionally, the overall bulkiness of the character is something I'm now looking at, so using this model as a reference for muscle placement in the arms and legs will help me with my own experimentation.
The overall shininess of this model is really effective for the character. Venom is meant to be an alien that attaches to a host for survival on Earth, wrapping around the human body. The shine gives it an almost slimy look, which is exactly what this character needs. I'm looking at making my character have a slimy look overall too, like its skin is always a bit wet, so I will need to look at textures with different roughness's to achieve this.

Throughout my extensive research endeavor, I have been diligently exploring various methodologies aimed at enhancing my understanding of the techniques involved in constructing an asphalt road and simulating natural environments within the dynamic realm of Unreal Engine. It was during this rigorous exploration that I stumbled upon the innovative concept of Procedural Content Generation (PCG), which has proven to be a game-changer in my pursuit of creating immersive landscapes and intricate vegetative elements on a grand scale. The utilization of PCG technology has not only streamlined the process of generating diverse terrains and lush greenery in a virtual setting but has also opened up a world of possibilities in terms of enhancing the visual realism and depth of the virtual environment. Embracing the power of PCG has empowered me to push the boundaries of creativity and realism within my Unreal Engine projects, enabling me to achieve a level of detail and authenticity that was previously unimaginable. Through harnessing the potential of PCG, I have been able to infuse my virtual worlds with a sense of organic beauty and complexity, thereby elevating the overall aesthetic appeal and immersive quality of my creations. Furthermore, the adaptability and scalability of PCG have enabled me to efficiently create vast and diverse landscapes teeming with dynamic elements that respond organically to user interactions, resulting in a more engaging and interactive virtual experience. hi! i am constantly thinking up new projects to work on, and roughly one month ago i came up with a concept for a card game (i’m usually a writer or crafter so i really don’t know where this came from but hey).
if you have the time you can read more about it below the… read more.
while i did write down everything the game would need and its rules and mechanics, it wasn’t written in a manner than anyone would actually understand except for the person who made it (me!!). i was asked to share it and that gave me the motivation to actually shape my notes into something more comprehensible and so i did, and the document above has all the details of it. i’m sharing it as a separate post because while i don’t know if anyone else is interested, posts don’t cost money. so.
i should clarify that it requires original decks and that i Do Not have designs for those... but i do have everything else in there if on the offchance someone feels inspired by this for personal use, or maybe they know of a game system online that would allow them to play it? i don’t know.
but yeah, unfortunately i cannot draw. if i had the funds to commission someone to design some fun npc designs and card backings i absolutely would. right now i’m thinking of editing pngs of my stuffed toys for graphics (the game isn’t supposed to be too serious). until then or otherwise, if you have a pen and paper (and some sort of temporary adhesive) and probably two playing card decks you could definitely make this yourself.
as implied, i've never made a strategy based game before (i've done the logic for story based rpgs but nothing else) so if anyone tries it and they like it enough to give me any suggestions for improvement i'm definitely open to hearing them!

On super-suit modesty
This is a conversation had more broadly across most superhero franchises, often highlighting how objectifying certain suit designs are. For the most part I agree, especially when such design choices impede practical functionality (e.g. as someone who as worn a full-body latex catsuit, they are NOT the best for dexterous movement ^^'). Although I do roll my eyes at people who simply see a woman in a skin-tight suit or mild cleavage and clutch their pearls at its "indecency". Since I've returned to MHA after a hot minute and binged the series, I'll be using it as my example in this discussion but a lot of what I say can be applied across Marvel and DC too. Before anyone assumes I just want everyone to be naked and sexy in every show / comic, that is not what I am arguing and in-fact would like a greater variety of suit designs - especially on femme characters. Mech suits, baggy and experimental gear that is a lot more expressive than what is essentially a recolour of the same boring unitard or leotard over and over.
In terms of cleavage, chest support is what matters so I tend to mainly have gripes with underboob and side-boob since it's hard to actually support the chest while maintaining that design. Two obvious examples of impractical / unsupportive suit design are Momo and Bubble Girl. Momo's quirk would work better with a long-sleeved crop top and leggings (potentially with holes in them to access her leg fat) or shorts since that's where her largest fat deposits to draw from are. I also think Long sleeves and leggings would be better not even for modesty's sake, but to keep her warm. She can't afford to lose energy that would be stored as fat to instead keep herself warm - and sleeves / gauntlets could provide more space for storage of emergency high-nutrient snacks!

I've seen people call Ururaka's suit overlly sexual / immodest, despite its almost full-body coverage, due to it being skin tight... like a majority of supersuits? If a suit being skin-tight is all it takes to become indecent then get a load of this slutty specimen!

I also tend to see a disproportionate amount of the out-cry against indecent suit design being directed at characters like Ururaka but not characters like Mina Acido. Why is that? Sure she get's less of a spot-light but her outfit shows more skin, it feels a little strange how selective people are in their criticism since both characters are the same age and neither of their quirks require anything but their hands to be exposed.

On that note, if skin exposure also contributes to the "sexualisation" of a design then why don't people apply it to characters like Kirishima? He could have the support team develop an armour or fabric based on his own hair that hardens with him to provide extra protection, or be compartmentalised into weapons / projectiles he could break off or throw! Oh wait... bare skin, like tightness, is only sexual when applied to women it seems!

Mt.Lady's and Miss Midnight's super-suits actually don't differ that much in design. A pale leotard with a darker-coloured bodice, mask and boots. Yes, Midnight's suit contains things paying homage to kink, but they aren't actually any more indecent for any reason but their association with kink. Or at least what vanilla society most strongly recognises as kinky. Ignoring the multitude of characters that play into other fairly common but less recognised kinks like gas masks for breathplay, general cowboy stuff, anything heavily reliant on mind control or restraints... basically a lot more heroes are kinky or could be kinky. Midnight just makes "Insert recognisable femdom here" her brand, and its overtness is what people find inappropriate.

I say all this to vent my frustration at older fans supposedly trying to safeguard younger fans from inappropriate content, but what they end up doing a majority of the time is just perpetuate sexist, puritanical views of "modesty" and what is "ok". I would say the only characters' suits that actually are sexualised are Momo's, Bubble Girl's and Miss Midnight's - and that last one is part of her branding. Yes, I get the critique of writers and artists giving characters powers that make "sexual" clothing a necessecity feeling like an excuse to implement horny designs into a story. It personally doesn't bother me and frankly in a world where 80% of the population has powers ranging from rusting metal quickly to shapeshifting, there are bound to actually be powers that work that way. What, should characters like that only be written in specifically sexual contexts? Frankly such quirks are more creative and sensible than the 500th OC with a mind-reading or empathy quirk that somehow got into UA.
