The Ice Castle 2024
I got these fantastic foam pieces and I want to make them into crenelated parapets.
Tumblr media
I also have two of those foam coolers that meat companies ship perishables in.
I'm thinking that these can be turned onto the side to form "rooms" inside the castle. They're sturdy enough to be two storeys worth of inside rooms; one inside the box and one on top of the box.
Tumblr media
Here are my design sketches.
Cardboard or foam core walls, covered in packing foam sheets to match the tops. I want the whole thing to break down into parts that store flat. The smaller pieces can be stored in the two coolers. (Furniture, etc.)
Tumblr media
Tilted at an angle for stability. (Probably a less dramatic angle than this.)
The foam coolers set on either side to be rooms, walls, and ceiling of the sides.
Tumblr media
Not to scale, obviously, but now I'm trying to figure out how to decorate. This will inform some of my construction choices.
There's a fantastic foam piece from the packing box of our backyard grill that will become an awesome hot tub. (Cold tub? Ice Plunge?) I need to carve out part of it, but I can use blue cellophane and bubble wrap for the "water."
Tumblr media
I just need to decide if it's a Castle or a Palace.
Is it a heavily fortified Blue Wizard's Castle, with two dungeon cells, an armoury, a throne room, and an alchemy lab?
Or is it the Blue Prince's Pleasure Palace and Disco Pad? (With a disco ball, apothecary workshop for drugs, "dungeon", boudoir, bedroom, dance floor and hot tub?)
I also have some other nice Styrofoam and foam pieces to include:

I might've added the BG3 Art Book to my dnd assets stash
It' 100% does not have things like the 5e players' handbook + 5e’s character sheet, several gm guides, critical role's explorer's guide to wildmount, baldur's gate and waterdeep city encounters, 101 potions and their effects, volo's guide to monsters, both of xanathar's guides, a bunch of other encounters, one shots, and class builds
In no way are there any pdf’s relating to any wizard who may or may not be residing on any coast
(Edit that I’ve moved the folder to the new link above! So if you catch a different version of this post that link won’t work anymore!)

D&D&D 2024 WAS GREAT!
New group of characters this time.
Tumblr media
A group of friends enjoying a drink together at The Danglin' Anchor.
Two very different Paladins, a tiny faerie magic user, a giant Barbarian and a Faerie/Kitty/Dragon (seen here masquerading as an anthropomorphic Duck.)
We were charged with transporting a tiny prince back to his castle.
(seen here with the Duck/dragon and familiar Iko the Bat.)
Tumblr media
The little prince was sweet but very sleepy.
Our heroes traveled to the Wizard's workshop and met with Randalph the Wizard. (Dragon-born, the pronouns are What/thefuck)
Tumblr media
Iko the Bat joined them to provide a guide through the forest.
They encountered bandits, but not all of the bandits were bloodthirsty. An arrangement was made to safely cross through their heavily "protected" area.
Then they found themselves in the Mushroom Village. Many strange fae creatures were gathered for some kind of festival. Our heroes were given mushroom tea and some of them experienced a wild trip.
Tumblr media
For the final leg of the journey, another guide joined them after Iko chose to stay in the Mushroom festival. A handsome centaur guided them to the special path leading through the dense forest.
Finally they discovered the Ice Palace.
Tumblr media
Made entirely of ice, snow and frost, this ice castle was hidden, nestled into the densest part of the forest.
Tumblr media
Even though it should have felt cold, everyone was comfortable. The chairs had cushions and the beds had soft linens.
Tumblr media
With many amazing rooms!
Tumblr media
And a hot tub!
Tumblr media
The tiny prince turned into a handsome adult prince, and gave the adventurers the gift of...living in the castle and becoming his employees.
The most 2024 adventure; our reward at the end was getting a place to live, steady employment, and no need to be concerned with climate control.

empathy gets treated as this universally positive thing but we forget that empathy often equals pain, and pain often activates fight or flight behaviors. a lot of my most asshole moments as a person were motivated by a twinge of empathy that was too painful to engage with in that moment, so i became aggressive and mean, NOT compassionate and helpful
