👋
Hi! I'm Rebecca, a 27-year-old fantasy writer from Scotland living the absolute dream because my debut novel came out on 27th June!!
Published by Ringwood Publishing, Song of the Stag is a love letter to Scotland's historic and folkloric past. From ancient kings and black-hearted patriots to bonnie princes and Jacobite songs, this book celebrates a complex, beautiful, and all too often tragic, land.
It also acts as an allegory for Scottish Independence, a subject I've been passionate about since 2014. The story is about the power of autonomy, be that of a person or a nation. Our main character, Cait, is a sheltered girl with an idyllic, conservative, rural upbringing, and her journey to personal freedom mirrors that of her nation.
I'm so excited to be able to share Cait's story with others! The novel can be purchased from Ringwood Publishing, Amazon (incl. Kindle format), or the Waterstones website. (For quickest delivery, order from Ringwood directly).
It's also on GoodReads, so please add to your want to read list, and leave a review if you read it!

✨My YA thriller debut novel, Whispers in the Forest, is now available✨
Cursed by an Angel, saved by its Shadow.
Genesis was attacked by the wolf of legend who’s supposed to protect lost travelers. Then, because the wolf’s evil Shadow protected her, she was cast out from the town! Now the Forest that surrounds the town is dying. The trees are withering, and so are the farms. Animal attacks are becoming more common. And, as far as her town is concerned, it’s all her fault. There’s only one way to get to the bottom of this mystery:
Genesis will have to leave the home she’s known her whole life and follow the whispers in the forest.

"You’re at step 0 but you’re trying to jump to your final destination who knows how many steps away. You’re worried about taking the first step. Which is to write something, anything. Imagine if Usain Bolt, once the fastest man alive, was so worried about not being an average jogger, or so afraid that he would fall down after taking the first step at the age of 1 that he never even tried to walk and remained on all fours his entire life. That’s what you're saying. You assume the great writers you speak of were just born great or that their first writing was great. It also seems to me you assume that they intentionally planned their great works to be that great. Do you think your beloved Milan Kundera thought, “This book is gonna be a classic.” Or, “I know exactly what people will consider a classic and that is what I’m going to write.” I don’t think so. I think he just did his best with the creativity he had; not creativity someone else had. Isn’t writing a form of self-expression? Then isn’t writing something exceptional a result of an exceptional perspective written down in an exceptional way? In which case the ingredients are: having an exceptional writing ability, which is a result of relentless practice coupled with feedback and reflection on one’s work, and secondly an exceptional perspective which is the result of a life lived. Both things take time and effort and a lifelong process. It’s a journey. You want to create something that is the result of other people’s life journey and their writing journey. You have your own unique life, unique experiences, and as life goes on the pool of life experience grows. But by the time that pool of experience is full enough to create an exceptional perspective, you need to have the exceptional writing ability ready. Which is only acquired through writing. If I want to be a great boxer such as Mike Tyson, I can’t just go in the ring and start bobbing side to side trying to recreate his peek-a-boo style. I gotta first learn how to throw a punch. Learn all the basics. When you're at the start you gotta do the basic shit first. Wanna break the rules? You gotta learn them first. You gotta take the first step. The basic step. The boring step. Such as writing a book regardless of genre. If your ideas are about genres that cater to women, well that is your current life perception. Write that. It will change and you will write other things. The key is to write. This is an actual experiment that was conducted. 2 groups. One group was going to be graded based on how many clay pots they can make in a given time period. Doesn’t matter the looks as long as it can function like a pot. What matters is quantity. 2nd group can only present 1 pot to be graded after the same period of time as the first group. The result: 1st group that focused on only making as many pots as possible created much better looking pots than the 2nd group that was given a perfect excuse to overthink the quality. That’s you. You're giving yourself a great excuse to overthink the quality. Which is a trap. Action is the only way to clarity. Action solves all. Think about the best book you can ever write in your entire lifetime. I can tell you right now, the chances of that book being great, a classic, genre defining, etc., is a flat zero. Why? Because it doesn’t exist. The chance changes dramatically as soon as you write a book. You won’t know which one of your books is going to be what you want it to be. So you gotta keep trying and writing. Your books and ideas about them will keep changing along with your life, but if you don’t write anything, worrying about imaginary failures, then you won’t get anywhere. Take the leap. Your debut does not define your success."

IT'S FINALLY HERE! THE TENGU AND THE ANGEL IS OUT NOW!
Tumblr media
Hello, hello, hello, everyone, I have some very exciting news to share with you all! The Tengu And The Angel, my debut novel, is now finally available to buy! That's right, you can now get your very own copy of my fluffy, angsty, gay friends-to-lovers novel! Oh, but why would you want to, you might be asking? What's the book about! Great questions, my friends, and I'll answer them both for you right now!
The Tengu And The Angel is a friends-to-lovers romance about two roommates falling in love, and learning to let go of their pasts. Eighteen year old Kunio Yoshioka has just fled his abusive mother's home in Northampton, and he's journeying up north in search of a new home, and a fresh start in life. He's armed with nothing but his dreams of being a successful artist, and his vivid imagination. He thinks of his new adult self as a tengu; strong, proud, and capable of things his child self could only dream of. Twenty year old Nathaniel seems to have it all; he's gorgeous, he lives in a beautiful apartment in the centre of Newcastle, and he's the owner and founder of Black Rose, a Victorian gothic online boutique. Kunio thinks of him as angel; he's faultlessly polite and kind, and he goes above and beyond to help him when they first meet, even though he doesn't know him. He's also painfully insecure, and he lives under the thumb of his toxic 'best friend', Theo, who uses his mental illness to control him. When Nathaniel takes Kunio in, the two form a close friendship, which slowly blossoms into love. Can the two of them learn to put their pasts behind, and make their relationship work? Well, you're going to have to read it to find out! Get your copy from Rakuten Kobo, or from the Amazon Kindle Store below!

Simon Holiday doesn't want to be a spy, but there are worse things than a guilty conscience. What's selling your soul to one beast if it staves off another?
His work has found him at the center of a new world, translating temple texts alongside the mysterious and outgoing Gen; a man whose body, and mysteries, Simon can't turn his mind from. Even if that attraction threatens everything he's there for.
Gen is too busy running from his fate to fall in love, but it's happening anyway. A former acolyte of his temple's hidden power, he's desperate to become anyone else, even if he knows it's impossible. When Simon is invited into the temple's most sacred ceremony, Gen decides this is his chance find balance between who he needs to be and who he wants to be with.
Until the warmonger Jorel rises to power, taking the core of the temple for himself: Haliz Fundir, a tree with the ability to meld bodies and minds into one. A boon in the right hands, and a terrifying weapon in his, Jorel just needs one final secret to control its dark power. A secret only Gen holds.
A secret Gen uses, melding with Simon to slip through Jorel's grasp.

Now melded into one body and mind, Simon and Gen are forced to face the truths of their pasts and the gravity of their present. Please help me tell people about my book!
Tumblr media
Hi! I'm publishing a book! It's HERE, just in time for Christmas!! It's GAY!! It's romantic!!! It's HOT! It has firefighters and background sapphic romance, and is exciting AF!!!
I'm very excited, too!
Both U.S. domestic and international friends can order shipped Paperbacks from me directly via my Ko-Fi shop (retailers take less of a cut): https://ko-fi.com/castielslostwings/shop Or you can order on amazon directly, this is the only way to get the KINDLE ebook option: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1945687126
Standard EPUB format is available to download directly from me for $1 cheaper than Amazon: https://ko-fi.com/s/2a82c64d56
And WILL be available at other retailers soon!
Here's the thing: I had a pretty solid platform on Twitter, but since Elon took over, a lot of my followers left, the algorithm crashed, and the whole thing might go under. I don't have the same reach on other platforms, so I need some help! Please share this post if you like GAY SHIT and BOOKS and helping indie content creators be successful!!! Please follow me or check out my ko-fi for updates! Thanks!!! Here's my pitch, hope you like it:
"Fire & Ice": The flaming hot queer romance novel where a foray into BDSM helps two best friends find themselves, each other, and what it really means to burn. Summary: "Firefighter Tripp Truett has somehow tumbled into a whole new kind of relationship with his quirky paramedic best friend, Lee, but mutual relief from their high-stress jobs quickly develops into something more. With all the missed signals and crossed wires, can these two ever figure out that they're so much closer to being on the same page than they think?"
**************************************** About the author (info dump ahoy!!!!) :
I'm Robin, sometimes known as Wings! I'm a 36-year-old, queer, autistic, disabled mom of 2 humans and 5 senior rescue dogs, former R.N. & paramedic. I'm a hardcore fangirl and a proud fanfic writer (and reader), and while I know some people will judge me for that, I am not ashamed! I started writing as a hobby after becoming physically disabled and unable to work as an RN. Fanfic gave me an audience and an outlet, gifted me purpose and hope again. Transformative fiction is FUN! It fosters creativity and passion, heals wounds, and makes people happy. If someone wants to discredit me for that, then perhaps they aren't the audience I'm seeking.
Ultimately, I know I'm taking a risk, but since people seem to enjoy my fics, this book is my attempt to try and make ends meet through original fiction! I know some people WILL discredit me. But I'm always about being myself and speaking on what I feel matters: Fanfic should be legitimized as a creative medium. I assure you, friends—the thousands of hours I've spent on my fanworks are as REAL as it gets. The intersection of disparaging fanfic + sexism/misogyny can't be overstated—women (esp queer women)'s unpaid work is often treated as a "hobby," not worthy of uplifting. I'm here to uplift! The risk is worth it—I would have nothing without fanfic & I'm proud. Younger creators shouldn't feel shame about writing/reading fanfic. We should ALL approach it as a legitimate medium. In fact, MOST new media these days is transformative "fanwork" of SOME kind, whether it's inspired by, based on, or outright rebooting existing worlds.
Plus, we queer folk simply deserve to see our stories in the mainstream media and to see the characters we fall in love, identify with, and root for to get their happily ever afters.
TL;DR: I'm keeping my name and history. Hopefully, I'll be successful in original fiction, but if not, I'll still be a fangirl. Please consider supporting me + other creators attempting to dip into original works. Follow or subscribe to my ko-fi for previews, updates, access to my discord community where I share exclusive content, and more: https://ko-fi.com/castielslostwings FIRE & ICE IS NOW AVAILABLE THROUGH MULTIPLE PLATFORMS! Ko-Fi subscribers will have the option to buy signed copies & merch bundles! The link to purchase will also be posted there first.
A MAJOR thank you to my friends, editors, and to everyone who in my server for supporting and encouraging me to put myself out there and try something new. Love you guys so much. <3 Thank you to @chaoticdean for the beautiful cover. Many more thank yous to come. P.S. If you are reading this and know anyone with a platform who might be interested in receiving a free copy in exchange for promo (only if they enjoy, ofc), please holler at me, I can use all the help I can get!

My debut novel, Midnight Muse, officially releases tomorrow, September 1st!
This is such a surreal moment in my life. After writing fanfiction for the longest time, I've finally finally taken the leap and have self-published my first of many books to come!
Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, to every person who's ever read, liked, commented, or reblogged a post of mine.
If you'd like to purchase a copy of Midnight Muse, you can do so on Amazon or through your local bookstores. It is also being released on KU!
Synopsis:
New year. New apartment. New enemy.
Drawing major Quinn Conroy just moved back to town with her best friend for their second year at Vulcan University. She revels in being away from her almost too supportive parents as she searches for inspiration long lost. Her new apartment is supposed to serve as a tranquil space to find the creativity that she’s been yearning for, but when she discovers just how thin the walls are that separate her from her new neighbor, all serenity is torn up and crumpled just like her many attempts at her drawing assignments.
Knox Foster is your quiet, stereotypical brooding upperclassman. Unless you’re Quinn. Then, you’re just an ass. Art student turned tattoo artist, Knox searches for an apprenticeship in the midst of a life-altering motorcycle accident that left his hands in worse shape than he cares to admit. He favors the stillness that the midnight hours have to offer when sleep evades him. It’s when he feels the most at peace, with a piece of charcoal and sketchbook in his hands or the wind against his body as he rides into the night. Until Quinn moves next door, that is. She’s been ruining that peace since the first day they met.
Quinn and Knox share one very common goal—and a wall—to find the inspiration they’ve been missing. It seems like since the day she moved in, Quinn can’t catch a break—between the asshole neighbor that parks his motorcycle in front of her moving truck and the elevator that she swears is going to break down any day, it’s like sophomore year has it out for her. For Knox, it’s the constant pestering from the other side of the wall and the forced proximity he has to the neighbor who provides said pestering, now that his roommates have befriended the girls-next-door.
Quinn and Knox have sworn to hate each other for the entirety of their lease—possibly even longer. But when their walls start to crumble and their lines become redrawn, they might just realize that they have more in common than they think.
