Patience and Strategy
Tags: Aventurine x Reader, Sunday x Reader, Dan Heng IL x Reader, Ratio x Reader, Teamwork, Aventurine Boss Fight, SAHSRAU, Action, Character Development, Humor, Tension.
Warnings: Minor violence (combat).
A/N: I'm not proud of this one and I hate it... 🧍♀️ (Plus idk how the in-game battles work or how to describe it...)
Requested by: @neuvillette-x-water

The battle was set.
Aventurine, Dan Heng, Sunday, and Ratio stood in formation, each of them ready to face the final challenge. Their target? An imposing figure—Aventurine's counterpart or his final form, an enigmatic and unpredictable powerhouse who had taken on a form much more powerful than any of them had expected.
The screen flickered, the usual ominous energy swirling in the air as the enemy loomed before them.
"Alright, team," Aventurine said, flashing a grin that was only half a facade of confidence. "It's game time. Let’s see how luck and strategy fare today."
You couldn’t help but groan from behind the screen, frustration bubbling up inside you. "Why'd you roll a 1?!" You shouted, the words sharp and full of disbelief.
Aventurine blinked, his grin faltering for a brief moment. His gaze flickered upward, as though trying to spot you somewhere in the unknown expanse of the fight. But of course, he couldn’t see you. He didn’t know where the voice was coming from, but he could hear it. Loud and clear. He straightened himself up quickly.
"Nothing like a little motivation," he muttered under his breath, though his eyes narrowed at the boss. "Alright, time to show you what a ‘1’ really means."
Dan Heng, ever the professional, ignored the distraction. His eyes studied the battlefield, calculating each possible outcome. The battle was no longer just about defeating an enemy. It was about survival, precision, and strategy.
You couldn’t hold back your frustration. "Dan Heng, stop being so serious! Just land a hit already!" Your voice carried a hint of exasperation.
Dan Heng’s lip curled slightly, though the rest of his face remained as serene as ever. "I am calculating the best approach."
"Don’t overthink it!" You snapped, pacing behind the screen. "Just—Ugh, you’re making me nervous!"
Despite your irritation, Dan Heng didn’t rush. He moved fluidly into position, his body tense and poised. "Patience is key."
Sunday, ever the introspective one, spread his wings slightly as if to channel the celestial energy within him. "I have seen many battles in my time... but this one is different." His eyes glinted as he muttered to himself, the halo behind his head giving off a faint, ethereal glow. "The conflict between the dream and the waking world... which shall prevail?"
Your eyes narrowed in frustration. "Just get on with it, Sunday! What do you mean, 'which shall prevail?' You’ve been in a million battles, it’s just a boss fight!"
Sunday let out a soft chuckle, his calm demeanor barely broken. "Perhaps. But you see, sometimes, the world’s true enemy is not the one we face, but the one we carry within."
He raised his hand, a flash of light swirling around his fingertips. As the battle raged on, Sunday’s voice echoed in the midst of the chaos, soft but resolute. "I will not let this darkness cloud my vision." His magic surged, and an ethereal barrier formed to shield the team.
Ratio, standing to the side with a confident, almost smug look on his face, adjusted the straps on his armor, eyes glinting with intellectual curiosity. He smirked at the enemy. "I assume the strategy here involves a bit more than brute force?" His eyes scanned the boss with disdain, but that only made him more eager to dissect the fight. "Let’s see what this thing can withstand."
You gritted your teeth, feeling the tension rise. "Ratio, can you stop showing off for two seconds? Focus on the fight!"
"Ah, but it’s all about understanding the pattern, yes?" Ratio replied, as if the battle was a mere intellectual puzzle. "By the time this beast even attempts an attack, I’ll have already deduced its weaknesses."
And with that, he flicked his wrist, sending a surge of energy toward the boss.
Aventurine, however, had heard enough. "Enough talk! It's time to win this!" He shouted, his voice rising with an intensity that sent a thrill through you.
You quickly gritted your teeth, watching intently. "Aventurine, beat his ass! Wait... hold on, don’t get too cocky!" You warned, anxiety rising in your chest as the gamble felt all too risky.
Aventurine ignored the warning, the thrill of the gamble coursing through him. "This is what I do best!" He launched himself at the boss, his movements fluid, almost elegant, as he played the ultimate hand. But as he struck, the enemy retaliated, the shockwave of power slamming him back.
Your stomach dropped as you watched him stumble. "Aventurine!! What was that?!" You yelled, disbelief and concern flooding your voice.
Aventurine grinned, wiping a trickle of blood from his lip. "A setback! You’ll see. I’ll turn this around." He winked, determination flickering in his eyes, and you could feel the resolve in his voice despite the blow.
Despite the tension, you found something strangely comforting about hearing his voice—a reassurance that they weren’t about to back down. But with each blow and each retreat, the team began to notice that the enemy was growing stronger, adapting to their moves.
Dan Heng, ever the pragmatist, quickly adjusted his approach, leaping into the fray with careful precision. He struck from above, his sword flashing as he aimed for the weak points the team had uncovered.
Finally. "Finally!" You exclaimed, a rush of relief flooding over you. "Took you long enough to get in a good hit!"
Dan Heng’s lips twitched into a barely-there smile, but his movements were sharp and decisive. "As I said, patience."
Sunday’s wings fluttered in time with his next spell. He called upon celestial energies to lock the enemy in place, creating a soft glow around his body. His voice, though gentle, carried across the battlefield. "In the end, it’s not about winning or losing… but the balance we must strike."
You rolled your eyes, frustration boiling over again. "Balance? What are you, a philosopher or a fighter?"
Sunday shot a quick glance toward the screen, his golden eyes amused. "Perhaps a bit of both."
As Ratio unleashed another wave of energy, the battle seemed to intensify. But the mysterious boss was relentless, responding with overwhelming force. The team began to feel the strain, but they weren't about to back down.
"Come on, guys, don’t let up! You’re so close!" You urged, a sense of desperation creeping into your voice. The enemy was weakening, but the team was running out of time.
Aventurine’s eyes gleamed as he saw the opening. "This is it!" With a flourish, he rolled the dice of fate one more time, pulling off a calculated strike. The boss’s defenses cracked, and with a final, well-placed blow, they brought the enemy to its knees.
The screen lit up with victory.
"Yes! Finally! That’s what I’m talking about!" You cheered, letting out a breath you hadn’t realized you were holding.
Aventurine, breathing heavily but smiling, turned toward his team. "I knew it was in the cards. That’s how we do it."
Dan Heng, his posture still relaxed despite the battle, nodded once. "We’ve won, but I’ll be ready for the next challenge."
Sunday let out a quiet sigh, wings fluttering once. "A victory, but a fleeting one. There are always more battles ahead."
Ratio adjusted his robes, a slight smirk tugging at the corner of his lips. "Not bad. I suppose there’s merit to a victory like this after all."
And with that, the battle was over. Your team, victorious once again. And while you could never physically see them, you knew they could hear you. After all, you were their guide, their unseen strategist.
"Yeah, yeah," you muttered, wiping your brow in relief. "But seriously—next time, let’s not roll a 1."

This Donnie and Raph move from Owari, while short-lived, changed my brain chemistry permanently.
These two end up having THE BEST battle choreography in every series, you actually can NOT change my mind. Unless you're talking about the rise movie choreography
We need more acknowledgement regarding Donatello's strength and Raph's agility in this series, because there are multiple moments where this boy is dramatically spinning and twirling. I think Donnie can bench press a schoolbus if he tried.

ADDICTIVE EMPTINESS
Have you ever wanted to play a game from the perspective of a 14-year-old trans kid with mummy issues and bpd who was admitted to a mental hospital after an attempt and is now in a toxic poly relationship with some trans woman and a trans obsessive man he met in the mental hospital? Probably not! But I have the game if you wanted.
In our game Addictive Emptiness, you play as a 14-year-old teenager who recently got admitted to a mental hospital after trying to kill himself with his boyfriend at the time (18yrs). Their friend snitched on them and that's how they ended up there.
Meet the characters !
Mato is the protagonist, you play from his perspective as the main character. Mato is a transgender 14-year-old who suffers from BPD and anorexia as well as syncope and hypersexuality, suicidal and self harming intentions. Being the manipulative guy that he is, he might hurt the others around him. He has really bad mummy issues.
Neffy is the deutaragonsit and also one of Mato's partners whom he meets in the mental hospital. He's a transgender 15-year-old with asthma, heavy daddy issues, autophobia, impostor syndrome, and obsessive love disorder. At first glance, he comes off as a shy, childish guy, but there are more layers to him. Oh! He's also a drug addict.
Pandora is the second deutaragonsit, also one of Mato's partners along with Neffy. She's a transgender 14-year-old with schizophrenia, manic disorder and paranoia. Coming from a seemingly happy family you wouldn't expect her to be that problematic. Well you'd be wrong. Very wrong.
WARNINGS!

wait. fuck. kakagai victim of the "mean-spirited queer-coding for comedy to more sincere depiction via gradual loss of absurdity through normalization" pipeline??????? in the original naruto anime???? its more likely,. than you think
#dying on the hill that kakagai are perhaps the most *intentionally* queer-coded paring#because of the 1- lack of female romantic interests for both of them#and 2- the domestic nature of their relationship#like don't get me wrong plenty of other stuff to read as queer.#just. within the framework of how naruto relationships exist. stuff like obikaka and sasunaru and danzen are merely results#of naruto narrative's focus on male friendship and exploration of acceptable emotions in them.#(notably they tend to focus on points of conflict/revolve around teamwork as an ideal/allow 'big' emotions but no small comforts)#also their relationship is set up as a point of comedy in early naruto#(both for 'isn't it absurd that these two opposites would be rivals' reasons and also 'haha gayyyy' reasons. source: piggyback clip)#and slowly develops into something more sincere. gestures. that's fucking text-book baby!!!!!!

Shadow no :’(
Maybe I’m jumping the gun here, but how is Shadow after he’s presumably rescued? Seems like that would leave a mark on a guy :(((
he'll never look at salad the same way again </3
nah but fr he's been better. immediately after being rescued and separated from the hivemind, he's honestly a little scared. like, it's so quiet, and he doesn't feel relief; he feels fear. you know? he hasn't been able--allowed?--to think for himself in a long time, so his first reaction is panic. what happened? where is everyone?
sonic sees him start to panic and is like woah buddy take it easy, you're safe now, those weeds can't get you here.
and shadow flinches, cuz he's not used to hearing someone ELSE talk. talk out loud. with their mouth. because plants don't HAVE mouths. they would just tell him what to do with their brains directly. but they're not here. they're not here, and he...
he doesn't have to listen to them anymore?
it's still quiet, shadow realizes. it's just him.
but if it's true, and he can do what he wants again, then that raises another question: what does he want to do, anyway? eat people? n... no, that's what the plants wanted. get revenge on the space colony for what gerald did? no, that's... also what the plants wanted.
he takes a breath. no vines appear to choke it out of him.
his fear is ebbing.
then the relief sets in. when he finally calms down enough to take in his surroundings. it's not green, like he'd become so accustomed to. like his world had been smothered in. now, it's blue. there's so much water. and he finally sees sonic (who by this point looks very worried).
shadow remembers what he wants. and it's so twisted, cuz he remembers his world was shattered. a horrible situation, everyone and everything he's ever known is gone and might never return--but that's just it. he wants to get it all back. he wants to fix his world. and he's so relieved to reclaim that goal, because it was taken from him by the plants. no matter how horrible his situation... at least he knows that it's his own.
#anonymous#ngl he might cry justttttt a little bit. cuz like. he's been through hell#also so fucked up once he realizes maybe that wouldn't have happened if he'd just told sonic about#what he was hearing and how bad it was#if he'd been honest about the severity of the situation from the start. maybe it could've been avoided and he#never would've gotten caught by the plants#woah... character development?!#teamwork development even?!?!?!#10verse

Labru (shrug) I just might like it
#After the newest supplemental comic#I just really like the idea of them being great friends and kind of settling into something more#later on. I just have a bunch of visuals of them having fun and dancing (which is teamwork)#Farcille is built on a foundation of 10+ years of friendship so it's always felt much more potent to me#but Kabru and Laios are likely eachother's firsts in many ways including completely mutual friendship#And Kabru's potential for development post-canon as he discovers himself FOR himself#I JUST THINK IT WOULD BE SO FUN and not the sordid affair most people think it'd be#with Kabru hating on Laios 24/7...#I mean Kabru also has Rinsha and that relationship is built off of many years and shared trauma and household#So I mean like a first in adult friendships. Since that's markedly different in way

Assignment 3 - Postmortem
Playtesting has been an invaluable part of the development process, offering firsthand insights into how users interact with our game. It revealed important aspects of the player experience and provided essential feedback that helped guide improvements and enhance overall quality.
Working on Shadowy Friend as a group project taught me the importance of collaboration and communication. By consistently sharing updates and assigning tasks based on each team member's strengths, we were able to meet expectations and deliver results efficiently. As one of the programmers, I learned how to identify and troubleshoot visual bugs and refine the mechanics I implemented. Collaborating closely with the other programmer helped me resolve technical concerns and build confidence in addressing challenges.
Our team’s designers, responsible for the art and animations, were also highly communicative and supportive. They adapted their work when necessary to align with gameplay needs, showing great flexibility and teamwork.
Overall, IGB120 has been an engaging and rewarding unit. It has deepened my understanding of core game design principles, the structure behind effective gameplay, and the value of iterative development through playtesting. I now have a stronger foundation in both the creative and technical aspects of game development.

Mastering Leadership and Teamwork: A Comprehensive Guide

Unlocking the Power of Leadership and Teamwork: A Path to Success Introduction:In both academic and professional settings, leadership and teamwork are crucial for success. This blog post explores the core principles of these essential skills and how they work together to foster growth and achievement. Drawing inspiration from the Leadership and Team Working (University 1st and 2nd Year, Level 4 and 5) course offered at labm.institute, we’ll uncover what it takes to become a successful leader and team player. Understanding Leadership Defining Leadership:Leadership goes beyond holding a title—it’s about possessing the skills to inspire and guide others. A strong leader is a visionary who leads by example and empowers their team. Key qualities include vision, integrity, empathy, and effective communication. Rather than asserting authority, great leaders influence and motivate their teams toward achieving a shared goal. Leadership Styles:Leadership comes in different forms, and the right style depends on the situation. Transformational leaders inspire innovation, while transactional leaders focus on rewards and performance. Servant leaders, on the other hand, prioritize the needs of their team members. Knowing how to apply these leadership styles can help leaders adapt to different challenges. Leadership Development:Becoming a leader is a continuous journey of self-awareness and learning. Leadership skills can be developed through education, practice, and feedback. Courses like those at labm.institute provide essential insights and strategies for aspiring leaders. By investing in leadership education, individuals can refine their abilities and achieve personal growth. The Importance of Teamwork What Is Teamwork?Teamwork is about bringing together individual talents to achieve shared objectives. Effective teamwork enables creativity, innovation, and synergy, which help tackle challenges that no single person could manage alone. Teams that collaborate effectively tend to find innovative solutions and achieve better outcomes. Building High-Performing Teams:Successful teams don’t just form by chance—they are intentionally built. Teams go through stages of development, such as forming, storming, norming, and performing. Establishing clear roles and communication fosters trust and helps teams work efficiently. Strong teams are characterized by their commitment to goals and open communication. Teamwork in the Workplace:In the professional world, teamwork is essential for driving productivity and innovation. Organizations that emphasize teamwork see benefits in problem-solving and employee satisfaction. When employees work well together, they contribute to a positive workplace culture and help the company stay competitive. Leadership and Teamwork in Education Leadership in Academia:In the academic setting, leadership skills are just as important for students and educators. Developing leadership in students helps them excel not only in their studies but also in extracurricular activities and future careers. Educators play a key role in fostering these qualities, promoting mentorship and encouraging students to take on leadership roles. Teamwork in the Classroom:Collaborative learning in the classroom allows students to develop vital teamwork skills. Group projects and discussions teach critical thinking, effective communication, and collaboration, all of which are key in both academic and professional environments. Why Enroll in Leadership and Teamwork Courses? Overview of LABM Course:If you’re interested in enhancing your leadership and teamwork abilities, the Leadership and Team Working (Level 4 and 5) course at labm.institute is an excellent option. This program provides essential tools for personal and professional growth, preparing you for leadership roles. Benefits of Enrolling:By enrolling in leadership and teamwork courses, you’ll gain valuable skills and certifications that can boost your career prospects. These courses offer networking opportunities, mentorship, and practical knowledge.
Whether you’re a student or professional, investing in leadership and teamwork education is a step toward long-term success. Conclusion: Empowering the Leaders of Tomorrow Leadership and teamwork are essential for personal and professional success. By developing these skills through the Leadership and Team Working course at labm.institute, you’ll be well-prepared to face the challenges of the future and become a leader in your field. https://labm.institute/mastering-leadership-and-teamwork/

Part II of Negotiating with a terrorist
***If you haven't read part one, go to my blog, scroll down a bit, and read it. You're almost guaranteed to get an undesirable outcome if you fail to use these concepts in concert with one another.***
The ultimate goal in any negotiation should be to establish a solid foundation and foster a cooperative, long-term, and mutually beneficial relationship of collaboration.
A good collaboration involves a combined effort in the acquisition of a mutual desire, as well as the joint aim of expanding the understanding of what that desire might evolve to be across time.
When negotiating, you're faced with two different aspects of the same problem, and if you collaborate you might come to a better outcome. It's not possible to know the best outcome because you don't have all the facts. Go in with an open mind and do it in a way that this person wants to talk with you again.
When negotiating, you're aiming to understand the other person's desires and being transparent about your own. The goal is to create a shared vision and plan a mutually satisfying path forward that both parties will willingly follow. Ideally, this leads to a lasting, reciprocal relationship. It's also important to recognize if the other person is not interested in achieving this outcome.
There are no foes, only friends waiting to happen. It doesn't matter if you think the guy on the other side of the table is the worst human being that every crawled on the face of the earth. They're a human being, and you must realize this. If you think about it as "us vs. them" you might as well hang up and call it a day, because you're not going to make a deal here.
If your biggest fear is "no," you can't negotiate. If you're dead set on what you want and you're not willing to be open to other possibilities, you've already turned this into a lose-lose scenario.
Listen to your gut, not your amygdala. When dealing with a high-conflict or overly aggressive counterpart it's easy to get swept up in emotion and start thinking with your limbic brain. Our whole body thinks. Gut feelings are important to listen to. If something feels off, there's a good chance it's not just your coffee talking back to you, something might actually require further inquisition and clarification.
Stay emotionally unattached and unavailable for manipulation. When you're letting your emotions call the shots, all kinds of problems can occur. Detach emotionally and stay in your logical brain. If you're caught up in emotions, you need to take a step back because you're about to make a big mistake.
Principles before personalities. Separate the people from the problems. Avoid falling into the trap of putting your counterpart into a box labeled "problem." If you think of this person as part of the problem, there is no solution to this problem because you're not going to fix, manage, or control other people's behavior.
Remain clinical, analytical, and pragmatic. Stay detached from the outcome and the emotionality of the circumstances and treat this like you're an analyst discussing hypotheticals with a colleague. This will help you remove your own emotional hang-ups and keep you from making any decisions based solely on feelings.
Unconditional positive regard. Become resolute in your intention to treat your counterpart with respect under any conditions. See their humanity, even if you have to dig through a lot of layers of ego to get to it. When in doubt, go back to the Golden Rule: treat others the way you want to be treated.
Before going in guns blazing, ask:
What is their vision of the future?
How does it affect their identity?
What kind of losses are they looking at?
What is important to them?
"Do you see what I see?" Your counterpart is only interested in what you have to say if you actually understand where they're coming from first, and you articulate that without a shadow of a doubt. If you don't see what they see the way they see it, then you don't understand where they're coming from and anything you have to say is irrelevant to them.
"How are you going to help me?" Your counterpart is only interested in how you're going to help them. If you can see the problem from their perspective and get creative about how you're going to help them with your mutual problem, you've got a much better shot at reaching a solution you can both live with.
Series of "no" questions. Ask them questions you want a "no" answer to that reflects their perspective. This lets them know you've been listening and are here to help. People are more willing to give a "no" than a "yes," so, utilize this and get them thinking about the possibility of working with you instead of against you.
Summarize why they're doing what they are doing using empathy and respect; validate their experience. When you've got a pretty good understanding of what they're after and why they're doing what they're doing, let them know that by empathetically reiterating the points they've made. Use deference and tact but avoid condoning or excusing their methods.
Keep the person separate from the problem. Get them out of that box you've labeled "problem" and get them thinking about working with you on solving your mutual problem with teamwork. There's a good chance this person just wants to be understood, validated, and respected. If you've already laid the groundwork for this, you're in a much better position to get a positive outcome.
Negotiate not position-focused but interest-oriented. You've gained their respect by respecting them. You've let them know that you see the problem from their perspective. You've expressed interest in helping them solve the problem by working together. Now focus on your interests and avoid digging your heels in and being stubborn on a point.
This is not an all-inclusive step-by-step guide. Use your neocortex and do your research before attempting to enter a high-stakes negotiation. You need tools, tactics, and techniques. The same level of understanding it took to get to the problem will not aid in solving the problem.
Remember, this isn't about a temporary fix, but a way of interacting with people, regardless of circumstances, that ensures you are doing the best you can with what you have to maintain a peaceful and cooperative environment for getting things done.
A tool is only as ethical as the one who wields it. You can use information to help or hurt. Don't be an asshole and do what you can for others.
