"Good Evening, Welcome to A.M.L., who are you and what do you need?" Their tone sounded slightly annoyed. 'Rude much?' you had thought to yourself.

"Hello, My name is Mc. I'm here for my tour and to sign my contract. Do I sign it here or?...." You say as you wait for their response. Instead, their neon green eyes look you up and down before they pick up their phone and dial a number. You hear them mumble your name over it before the person on the other line hangs up first.

"He'll be down here to get you and greet you shortly, please stay still and wait." They say before going back to drawing whatever they had been before you interrupted them. You decide to look at their name tag, 'Thirteen', what a weird name. Before you know it you see him, your eyes lighting up with recognition. Simeon Angel himself has come to greet you!

"Ah! You must be Mc!" He had begun to speak before a small bark sounded from his bag. You looked down at it just to be greeted by a light blonde chihuahua in a white hat. 'cute..' you thought to yourself. Simeon coughed before he chuckled. "Don't mind Luke, let's go to my office so we can get your papers signed," he says before motioning you to follow him into a nearby elevator. "Just leave your bags here, they'll be taken to your new living quarters by some fellow employees," Simeon states as he steps into the open elevator.

"Of course sir!" You say and do as told, dropping your bags in a nearby chair, and watching as they're taken by two mysterious people before you follow the slim male into the elevator. Eventually, you find yourself sitting at a desk, Simeon Angel behind the desk and in front of you. 

"Well Mc, I'm happy to congratulate you in person! I have your contract right here, please do sign it." The man says with a smile as he hands you a clipboard, your contract on it. You briefly read it, not really paying attention to the details, he definitely wouldn't be hiding anything dark in this contract, right? You sign the contract and hand it back to Simeon, who smiles at you and stamps it, confirming you signed it. Simeon speaks up as he takes Luke out of his bag to roam his office, "Thank you! You're the most perfect person for this role! Here take this." The male before you hands you a watch, it looks... weird, you put it on anyway, and once on your wrist, it locked around it. "Don't worry about that! It's just waterproof." Simeon says, his smile still kind and bright as he stands up and motions you to follow. He leads you out of his office, leaving Luke in it as he takes you to go get your uniform and badge. You take the bag containing your clothes and ID, smiling at Simeon before you speak up,

"Thank you, sir!" You begin with a soft smile, "Which part of the lab will I be working?" You miss it but a dark look crosses Simeon's face as he softly smirks.

"I'll take you down there now!" Simeon responds as he motions you to follow again. As you walk with him, you notice he's taking you to a darker part of the building, it somewhat looks hardly used. He stops you at an elevator and digs out a badge, using it to call the elevator. "Your department is top secret, as stated in your contract you can not talk about this work with anyone at all, we'll know if you do." He says, his voice having a somewhat dark undertone despite the soft smile on his face. "Now come along, the tour begins now!" Simeon states as the elevator door opens and he steps inside, you waste no time in following him.

You feel nervous the lower the elevator goes and decide to speak up, "So, why is the department I'm in on such a low floor?" You ask nervously with a small smile, trying to think of what kind of work you could be doing down here. You jump as the elevator stops with a thunk, not expecting the elevator to sound like, especially when the rest of the building is so modern and well-built.

"Well Mc, you will be a caretaker of sorts for our... subjects... I know it won't be too much for you to handle! They're sure to love you..." Simeon says as the dark look on his face is still present, but he still is smiling. You raise a brow, didn't A.M.L claim to not use animals as product and medicine testers? "This is the entrance hall, where you'll use your watch against that machine to clock in." He speaks softly as he points to a machine in front of the both of you. He walks forward and expects you to follow of course. Your eyes widened as you entered the next area; It was a long hallway of some sort, different testing chambers on either side. As you walk beside Simeon you aren't listening as he speaks about each room. Your heart is full of fear and dread as you see what, no, who they are testing on. In the testing room, before you stands a man with white hair in a lab coat, a sinister and sadistic look on his face as he uses a cattle prod to poke and taze a much taller man with black hair, his red eyes showing displeasure and disgust for the man prodding at him, he doesn't even flinch as he is tazed, no spasming or reaction at all came from him, his clothes were disheveled from the prodding though. That wasn't the weirdest part of the man, no it was the very pointy ears, the black horns coming from his head and the four wings coming from his back, all pitch black and some feathers clearly missing, whether it be from this kind of abuse or stress you can't tell.

"W-what the fuck?" You stuttered out as you stepped away from the glass on the testing chamber, not seeing the amused expression Simeon flashed your way.

"That is one of the nine subjects you will be looking after! His name is Lucifer, he is one of the best "demons" we have!" Simeon states as if he is just talking about the weather and not a fully grown man he's having his employees test on.

You stare at the dark-skinned male before you, a look of shock and fear across your face as you speak up in a confused but fearful voice, "Nine? Demons? Huh?" Just as you were about to continue before loud crashing, low growls, and yelling interrupted you; they came from down the hallway. Looking over revealed more "demons", specifically two certain ones fighting. One was a dark-tanned male, with slightly pointed ears, a full head of white hair, and blue eyes that had a golden-yellow gradient. He has horns that look somewhat like spirals atop his head, large bat-like wings come from his back and they flap violently. He's on top of the other male, throwing punches as different scientists try to pry him off the man below him. The male below him has pale skin, and what seems to be scales on it in certain places, he, like the two before him, has pointed ears, but his seemed to have two different pointed ends, somewhat like fish fins. His hair is a blueish-purple color and his eyes are a glowing orange with a purple gradient, the whites of his eyes seem to be a slight grey color. His horns look like coral and are a black color but have a hint of blue to them, he also seems to have a long lizard-like tail.

"Ah, Mammon and Leviathan are at it again. We'll have to punish them...again..." Simeon says, his tone showing distaste but amusement at the chaos around him as he ignores your comment. A door behind you opens and you turn to check it out, you are horrified at the man who stood behind you. He had to be about 7'5 in height alone, he was so muscular and well-built, with a muzzle around his mouth and his hands cuffed in front of him as he looked down at you with interest; he was sniffing you through the muzzle. His hair is a bright orange, his ears pointed but droopy, and he has purple eyes that seem to fade into magenta and then red, one of the whites of his eyes isn't white, but rather an inky black color. Scars litter across his body, along with weird black markings, he has black horns that curve and almost crown his head, fly-like wings coming from his back buzz softly as he continues to stare down at you. "Beelzebub! Now, Now, stop drooling into your muzzle at your new caretaker's scent! Mc this is Beelzebub, Beelzebub this is Mc, your new caretaker!" Simeon says to the towering male standing before them, who looks at Simeon with a somewhat blank expression, you can see some fear and pain in his purple eyes as he stares at Simeon.

"Wait a damn minute please!" You cry out to Simeon, finally catching his attention, and now Beelzebub, who watches you closely but with clear hesitance. "I can't possibly work here after seeing all of this! This is s-so.. so.. fucked up!" You said as you took several steps away from Simeon.

You're stuck here...unless you'd rather face certain consequences for trying to go against your contract." As he spoke the watch around your wrist tightened and its screen flashed red. By the look on Simeon's face, you knew the consequence of going against him would either be death or the same fate as the subjects you'll be in charge of.

"B-but- I-" You tried to protest but Simeon put a finger to your lips to hush you, a sinister smile on his own lips.

"Shhh, Mc. You already signed away your life to me." Simeon began to speak softly, but his eyes showed sadistic amusement at your internal conflict about all of this. "If this really had bothered you..." Simeon begins again, Beelzebub looks at you sadly and with pity as a guard begins to walk him back to his containment chamber, he can tell you're a good person who just got caught up in a bad situation, he can only hope you stay a good person in here. "Then you should have read the fine print." Simeon finished speaking with a cold smile as he looked down at you. Dread filled you completely, these two years weren't going to end well.

"Welcome to A.M.L, Mc. I can't wait to see all the good work you'll do."

"how are you feeling?" you heard your fiancé ask as he walked up from behind you

"nervous, I have this feeling that something big is going to go wrong and will ruin the whole thing" you shook your head the pit in your stomach that had been there for days now was getting bigger, and it made you want to throw up

"everyone gets that feeling, it'll be fine, I promise, I'll make sure nothing happens" he rubbed your shoulder

"why are you awake?" you asked him

he was a good young man, he was a Hufflepuff from Hogwarts, you never talked in school as he wasn't in your year, but rather in Harry's year. Zacharias Smith, you started going out about 2 years ago and things were going really well that he popped the question at the end of last year

"you weren't in bed, so I went looking for you" he shrugged

you were getting married in a few days, and things were a bit shaky.

you're bridesmaids turned up today to start helping with setting up and making sure you weren't to stressed

but as soon as Ginny, Hermione and Angelina walked through the door, they could sense it.

the Weasley's came alongside Ginny and as soon as you saw George for the first time in what seemed like forever, you started panicking.

"come on, let's go get some sleep, you'll feel better" Zach said as he took your hand

"you go ahead, let me just stay here for a bit" you insisted, letting him go

"I'll give you 10 minutes" he smiled before going up the stairs.

you closed your eyes as you heard the door shut, telling you he had gone back to bed.

"you alright?" you heard a careful voice say from behind you, making you jump in surprise

you turned around to see George and felt like you were pass out.

the only reason he's here is because his family were invited, you couldn't just invite his family and say he wasn't allowed to come, he was also a very close friend of yours, even if he was also your ex boyfriend

"go back to bed, George" you whispered as he walked up to you

you were ashamed of yourself for even looking at him, and you'd never admit that you still had feelings for him, that after all this time of avoiding them, that when you locked eyes with him this morning, all the love and care for his began to present itself again

and you would never say it, but you never felt the passion for Zach like how you did with George.

but you hadn't been with George in almost 2 and a half years and you never would be again after that day.

"do you really love him?" he interrogated selfishly

"don't, George, you can't come here and question if I love him or not" you shook your head, looking away from him

you were spaced out, thinking about what George had said to you the night before

you were all by the venue that the guys had made for the wedding. it wasn't completely set up due to the wedding being tomorrow but it was cleaned out and the floor had been put down for it

Ginny followed your gaze as Hermione went inside to fetch you some tea to calm your nerves

you walked out of the house for the second night in a row, to get fresh air, everything was clouding your mind and you couldn't think straight

you noticed a dark figure on the bench that was near the floor.

as much as you didn't want to approach them, your feet decided to move closer, almost like it was begging for trouble

you sat beside them and stayed silent for a while

"give me one reason why I shouldn't marry Zach" you looked over at him

"why does it matter anymore? you're not going to just not marry him. so what's the point of trying?" his voice was cold and emotionless

you couldn't admit that you didn't know what to do, that at the end of the day, you were meant to marry Zach, but that you're heart called George's name.

you couldn't tell him that even a small part of you wanted to start again with him, because you had no idea how he would react, he could either pressure you into running away with him or get mad at you and leave.

"nervous, it's not everyday you're supposed to get married tomorrow" you shrugged

"well you love him, right? nothing's going to get in the way of that so why be nervous" he replied dully

you didn't have enough willpower or energy to respond to him and he could sense it

"you should go get some rest, you've got a big day tomorrow" he smiled softly, even if it was pained

he kissed your head softly, his lips lingering as if he wasn't ready to let you go yet, but soon he pulled away and ushered you to go back inside and get sleep

you got up from the bench and left him there to stare out into the distance.

you sighed as you walked into the door grumpily

"how are you feeling?" you heard the awfully familiar voice that belonged to Molly by the window, looking out at George

she turned to you and gave you a sympathetic smile with a knowing look

"good... I'm feeling good" you lied, you never would have even thought about lying to someone like her, who you once considered a second mother, but you couldn't bare to say the truth to her this time

she thinned her lips with a tight smile, letting you go to bed for tomorrow.

"piss off" you grumbled as you covered your face with a pillow

you had a quick shower and got into your dress, you're up in, drying to be ready for styling it.

Hermione came through the door with Angie by her side

"ok, so, the cake-" she started, a worried look on her face

"Hermione, the cake is the last of my worries, if there's something wrong with it, do what you think would be best" you cut her off with a smile

"ok" she nodded vigorously, Angie staying in the room to do your hair

"are you thinking in or out?" she asked

"I really don't mind, what do you think will be best?" you sighed calmly

"well i think having it out will really compliment the sleeves" she tilted her head, looking at you through the mirror

"then do it" you nodded

"how are you this calm? are you not worried at all?" she raised her eyebrows

"no, I'm fine" you beamed as she started your hair

"do you want your make up now?" Ginny came in with her makeup bag

they were all dressed in their bridesmaid dresses with their make up already done, looking beautiful

Angie started putting clips in your hair as Ginny brushed your cheeks with a light pink

you started hearing Hermione yell out orders as the girls finished you up

you felt Angie step away from you and looked at your hair

"you look beautiful" Ginny said as she put her brushes down

"Y/n, he doesn't want to see the woman he loves most in this world get married, I heard him talking to Fred saying that the invite felt like you were trying to torture him" she rubbed her arm

"can you tell him to come here so I can talk to him please, Gin" you took a deep breath

"yeah, I'll go find him" she looked down, walking out of the room

after a few minutes there was a knock on your door, you knew it was him and you called him in

the door slowly opened and he walked in, you stood in front of him as he stared at you

you noticed his eye slightly twitch at the sight of you

"you look stunning" he nodded to himself, looking at you sadly

it was then when you noticed he wasn't dressed like everyone else, but in his everyday clothes

"I don't want to go" he said, knowing what you brought him here to say

"but I want you there" you blinked

"why? why do that to me?" he looked away from you

"am I not allowed to have my friend at my wedding?" you didn't want to hurt his feelings but you could tell you did by his face

"I should go home" he said suddenly

"what? no, please don't go home, George, please" you pleaded, stepping closer to him as he backed up

"I'm just going to ruin it, I don't want to ruin your day. that wouldn't be fair, our break up was my fault and I need to live with that, not take it out on you, I'm sorry" he put his hands out for you to not go near him

"you're not going to ruin it, you'll ruin it by not being there, George please" you begged for him to stay

"no, if I'm there all I'm going to do is make it worse, you love him and I need to accept that you're not mine anymore"

"George Fabian Weasley if you don't go to my wedding I will hex you, you're still one of my best friends George, please" you pouted, not wanting to cry

"then hex me, please that'll be much better than going to your wedding" he smiled

"fine, go home then" you frowned, turning away from him

you heard him open the door and stay there for a while before you heard him sigh

"I love you, forever and always" he spoke carefully.

you heard the door close and you felt like you were put into a dream, and you were brought back to all the times he said that in your relationship.

you both would say that when leaving each other, whether it was after saying goodnight, parting ways to go to class, or leaving each other in general

the last time he had said that to you was parting ways during the war, he went off as Tonks pulled you away to cover a different part of the castle

that was the day your relationship changed forever, he almost lost Fred and he became paranoid, and finally, a few months after the war, you broke up with him, he was lashing out and he wouldn't sleep and he would get mad at anything, you knew it wasn't his fault but you wanted a break from it.

you stood next to Molly and Arthur as your bridesmaids and groomsmen in front of you, waiting for the cue

"he stayed, you know" Molly said, pointing to the back of George's head in the audience

"good" you said, she walked away and took a seat, Arthur staying to walk you down the aisle

"I know you think our family hates you for leaving him, but we don't" he started

"why not? I broke his heart"

he chuckled lightly "it was the right thing to do for yourself, he was miserable, and he knows it"

the music started to play and they started walking down, you peeked your head around the corner and saw Zach at the end of the aisle, Smiling brightly and you felt like you were going to be sick

"Ready?" Arthur asked

"Yeah"

You took a deep breath and began slowly walking down with Arthur by your side

Everyone turned to look at you with bright grins, they were happy. But you weren't.

You couldn't bring yourself to be happy when you felt sick to your stomach.

You got to the end and Arthur kissed your forehead

You then stepped up in front of Zach and he grabbed your hand.

You looked to at your family and friends.

You looked at your mum. Who was smiling widely. Then you looked to the other side to see George.

He was frowning as he looked at the front. His eyes were dull and rested, as if he was tired

You began to feel dizzy and you spaced out as the ceremony started

you turned your head to find George in the audience, looking down at his lap.

he looked up and locked eyes with you, in that moment, you wished he would stand up and say something, to get you out of this position you put yourself in, to save you from marrying a man you knew you didn't love as much as you did George.

but he remained seated, his lips in a tight line, not daring to ruin the ceremony

"alright.

you looked back at your hands that were connected with Zach's

you spaced out again until the officiant turned to you

"Y/n Y/l/n, do you take do you take Zacharias Smith to be your wedded husband to live together in marriage? Do you promise to love him, comfort him, honour and keep him for better or worse, for richer or poorer, in sickness and health and forsaking all others, be faithful only to him so long as you both shall live?" you looked at Zach, who was grinning from ear to ear.

in the corner of your eye you saw everybody staring at you, waiting for you to speak

but you couldn't, a lump formed in your throat and stopped your from talking, from breathing.

you turned to the audience once more, your eyes meeting George's again. he had a fake smile on his face even though his eyes were droopy and sad

the longer you looked at him, the more the smile of his faded away, he furrowed his brows as you shook your head

Zach gave your hands a reassuring squeeze and made you look at him

"are you ok? what's wrong?" he mumbled

"I'm sorry" you choked as you lifted your dress, running down the aisle, away from the wedding, hearing the calls from your friends and family

you don't know where you were running to but you ended up at a small lake.

you leaned against a tree and slid down, crying pathetically

you sat there alone, for a while. the wedding was far away from where you were that you couldn't see it and you could barely tell where you were.

you stayed there for what felt like hours before you heard footsteps coming towards you, stepping on the crisp leaves on the grass

you didn't dare to look up, fearing it was Zach.

you knew what running away would do to your relationship, but your feet felt like they were moving on their own accord, you knew that as soon as you ran away, that it meant you and Zach were done. that you could no longer be with him

you left him

"I couldn't do it" you spoke to the person

"what was stopping you?" you heard his voice, the one that caused you to run

you looked up at him, seeing his gentle brown eyes looking down at you

"you," you whispered, seeing his face slightly change "you and your stupid brown eyes" you sobbed, beginning to cry again.

he stood there for a second before sitting beside you, keeping a little distance from you

"I said I wanted to go home, I didn't want for this to happen, I never meant for you to do that" he rubbed his face, genuinely feeling bad about the situation

"you never do, George. that's the problem" you cried, hiding your face in your hands

"he's called the wedding off, for good" he informed you

"figured, I wouldn't want to do it again, I can't. I can't do it, George" you closed your eyes

"I can't bring myself to marry him"

"why not? you love him" he told you.

but that wasn't true, you could never really love Zach when there was George out there, the George you knew before the war.

you don't know how or why it took you so long to notice that throughout your whole relationship with Zach that you craved something more, he wasn't enough, his touch and his words didn't make you blush the way George's did

Zach was great, but it wouldn't be fair to him to marry a girl that didn't truly love him the way she should.

"not as much as I love you, Georgie" you bit your lip, still not looking at him

"you love me?" he questioned

it was silent for a while, you both looking at different things and letting the conversation sink in, the words imprinting on both of your minds

"I don't think I ever stopped" you whispered

you felt him reach for your hand slowly and carefully, not wanting to cross a boundary

you let him take your hand in his and you felt the tingly sensation you never felt with Zach

it felt right but wrong at the same time,

as much as you wanted to enjoy it you knew it was wrong, you were supposed to get married

"how'd you find me?" you wondered, finally looking at him

"I took you here once, remember? it was Christmas and you were staying with me and my family, we snuck out and ran away, we ran here" he raised his eyebrows, looking at the lake

you looked around you and you were hit with the memory of that day

"it was where we had our first kiss" he muttered

you subconsciously smiled at the memory of a scared George slowly leaning closer to you, his hand in yours as he connected your lips, kissing you delicately but with eagerness

you struggled in your dress as you got up, making George confused

you looked around at the trees and noticed you were leaning against the one you were looking for.

you looked around the trunk of it and reached up to trace the scratch marks that you and George made that day

George stood up and followed your gaze

his smile dropped when he recalled that you had jinxed it that if you both ever stopped loving each other it would crack, symbolising that you were both broken hearted

but there was no crack, not even a faint line of where it would be if you ever did fall out of love

"would you consider giving me another chance? I'm better now, and I'm not saying I deserve you but I can't picture my life without you in it, I want you by my side, forever and always" he asked

you smiled at his words, he was indeed better, all The Weasley's had told you that a year after you split up, and you could see it yourself, he had the sparkle in his eye and the genuine smile that he had lost.

his posture was straight rather than the hunch he had, his mood was different too. he was better and that's all that you cared about, he was George, the George that you loved and cared deeply for

he was your George and you wouldn't pass him on for the world

"I would love that, Georgie, let me just figure out what I'm going to do about this whole Zach thing"

he placed a soft kiss on your forehead, leaving a tingly sensation. it felt good.

"I'll wait as long as you want, as long as I know you'll be mine again" he beamed.

"my heart always belonged to you, I was yours from the beginning, George" you grinned

"good, because my heart was made for yours"

Okay so on a scale of 0 (cuddle hater) to 10 (cuddle expert), here is the cast of Pride & Justice

Pride: 7/10 on a good day and 2/10 on a bad day. His emotional issues make it so he either wants attention all the time from everyone or or has an "if you touch me I'll bite your fingers off" level of touch-aversion. When he's in the mood, he will plop himself into your lap for cuddles whether you like it or not, and it's only like 60% of the time because he wants to have sex. On a bad day, he'll avoid touch even if he really wants it (which is why the score is 2 and not 0). Sometimes he'll be able to crawl out of his shell to lay his head on your shoulder, but only rarely.

Justice: 10/10 on any day of the week, Justice loves cuddles and cuddles love him back. He's a very physically affectionate person (if you're okay with it, of course), and can span the range from gentle headpats to ultimate bear hug. He's very warm and large, and he'll definitely fall asleep.

Honesty: 0/10 but also why would you want to cuddle her. She's a strict authoritarian who's only goal is to bring down Enemies of The Lord. She doesn't have time for cuddles.

Lust: 5/10 because Lust is only going to cuddle if it turns into sex and after that you're getting kicked out of bed immediately. It also chose the form of a lifelike sex doll, so if you're into that, I guess it would be a good time.

Kindness: Another 10/10 cuddle master. Kindness' cuddles have the vibes of... mom hugs, your favorite aunt hugs, big sister hugs, "best friend from middle school you lost touch with but still think about sometimes" hugs. You're gonna feel like crying for a loss you never knew you needed to grieve. She'll pet your hair the whole time.

Ollie: 8/10 butch cuddles are chicken soup for the soul. Ollie likes cuddling while laying down and doing other stuff (watching TV, playing a game, etc.) so it might take a few minutes to find an optimally comfortable position. The best way I can describe her body type is a bit fatter than this woman here, so very soft, very comfortable. However, your limbs will risk falling asleep, because she's not moving.

Sofía: 6/10 because she's going to insist on snuggling with her cat, Marbles, and will jump up and run away to go get him if he leaves. Other than that, Sofía is a cuddly little catgirl herself, if fidgety.

Dante: 4/10 on a good day. Dante is cool with long--ish hugs, arm-around-shoulders, head-on-shoulders, but that's the extent of their touch tolerance. They don't want to do a full-body cuddle, sorry not sorry!

Stella: 8/10 more mom hugs. Ideal scenario is you laying on her chest while she reads a book to you. She has a wife and also multiple other partners, so they might join you.

Emelia: 5/10 because she just can't sit still that long. She likes cuddles well enough, but would much rather not spend more than an hour there. Cuddles are fun! They're neat! But while you're cuddling, she's studying the blade, etc.

Chris: 7/10 very friendly chill cuddles on this one. It's going to let you pick the position you're comfortable in and just roll with it, Chris is great at being a body pillow or a person-shaped weighted blanket. And then it'll show you pictures of its frogs the whole time.

takamura takes his son to the zoo "ok son today is really important. we are going to find you your special move so pay close attention to the animals". it'll probably end up with takamura finding a stupid new move like the sloth punch or something

ultimately takamura would let his son pick what career path he wants to take and wouldn't pressure him

volg has mixed feelings. he's so shocked that his son is inspired by him but also he doesn't want his son to go through the pain of what he had to while trying to climb the ranks since the world of boxing can be an unfair one

he realizes ultimately that maybe his son won't take it up as a career. but he would still prefer that his son only takes up boxing as a hobby since he's scared of the possible injuries that could occur

volg would sign his son up for boxing classes just so they have a closer father son bond

eagle

eagle would let his son try out boxing classes at a local gym or school. he secretly hopes that he was able to pass on his athletic genes

eagle would try to promote positive masculinity to his son since some boxers can be gross and toxic from the fame and power *cough* bryan hawk *cough*

he would even happier if his son tries to aim to be a gold medalist in the olympics. no matter how much it costs he would let his son have the best training and coaches to reach that level of boxing

ippo would be so happy that he inspired his son. he sees it sort of like how he saw himself and his dad

i watched the 911 promo clip and here are my thoughts

captain hats - obviously one them becoming the interim captain

i know a lot of you on tumblr don't like the idea of it being buck but i think it could be him

hen will be settling in with the new child and that requires a lot from a person

chim is busy planning the wedding with maddie and literally every time a wedding has happened the person planning was not captain

it could be eddie but we've never really seen him want to be anything more than the role he has at the fire station currently

we saw how buck took charge in the bridge collapse and it's made him think his ready to actually be a captain but the cruise will make him realise he still hasn't properly dealt with his trauma and maybe he isn't actually ready for (or doesn't actually want) the captain's title

wedding ring - madney wedding

like i said chim is busy helping plan the wedding so maybe he won't actually be on call for the cruise

everyone he knows, all of his family, is working on it except him

it'll be a fun callback to season 2 after he got stabbed and called tommy(?, an old member of the 118 who transferred) in for extra help

buddie having keys to each others houses is such a big thing to the fandom and if abc want to be great they definitely would've picked up on it

linking to the captains hat buck or eddie (or both) have panic attacks because of how much fucking trauma they have because of the water (the plane in s1, the tsunami, the well, the lightning strike - you could probably find something im every season) and they end up staying at eddie's together for awhile so they don't have to be alone

of course they both have their girlfriends (marisol and natalia) but they just don't understand this situation and the trauma they shared together and how bad it affected them

i think the time on the watch is at 7:30 (obviously i could be wrong) and y'know what else had 7 and 3?? 3 minutes and 17 seconds

the number has been such a big part of tragic/traumatic storylines throughout the show i wouldn't be surprised if it was here now

timing is such a great them and goes perfectly with the already set up storylines for this season

madney wedding - there's no time like the present, lets gather everyone we love and have a wedding in a meaningful place (bathena backyard) and be happy together forever as soon as possible

baby wilson - they're finally ready to grow healthily, they've had a lot of things test their marriage (hen cheating, ivf, hen's kidnapping, karen losing her job, hen going to med school, karen almost dying in an explosion at her work) and now they can finally say they're at a place where they want to expand their family properly and permanently

buddie's girlfriends - the issue with their girlfriends had always been timing and when they meet, did marisol and natalia come at the right time? will they stay and be permanent for the boys? will they break up? will the break up still leave them as friends (i hope so)

bathena cruise - i don't need to say much. they thought they finally had time to relax and be themselves and be with each other. it seems the only way they're going to get that is retirement

some other fun stuff/thoughta:

you can see a helicopter light, could be lucy or tommy flying - we know they both can

the time duration on the call being 1:18 is great 10/10

the keys could also be about may? her being on college/uni, no longer being at dispatch, she wouldn't know what's going on other than through the updates on the news and anything she can get out of whoever is at the call/maddie (but then anyone at the cruise is highly unlikely to answer their calls/messages)

This month's challenge will be a little different. The previous host had to back out so I am taking over... however, I was already planning on hosting 2 celebration weeks in August, which with the 2 book clubs would leave me with 5 events, and that's too much, even for me. So we're making August a combination month!

PlayChoice Game's 7th birthday is August 17th, so instead of having a birthday week, I'm including prompts for this event below and it'll run through the entire month of August.

There will also be prompts for Hollywood U + High School Story, as it's been one year since PB pulled those games. Without their success, we might not have gotten Choices.

Also, I've rescheduled sibling appreciation week a few times, so let's just add that in.

I also have some August holidays and summer prompts.

Summary : Eddie Munson, tour guide for the British museum in London, is passionate about his work, and is infatuated with an ancient statue called 'The Beauty Of Stéphanos'. But what will happen when he crosses paths with a man who looks exactly like the statue he is so enamoured by?

Everybody in the museum noticed Eddie’s upbeat attitude as of late.

Eddie was more compliant with wearing his sweaters and hair up, his hands moving at the speed of light whenever he spoke, not just when he was talking about history.

But nobody knew why

Eddie was practically skipping around during his tour. And when he got to the statue of Stéphanos, this man was talking at a million miles a second. Really, half of the tour group had to ask him to slow down.

And during his lunch break he would sit on his phone and giggle to himself, pulling his hair in front of his face.

'Eddie!' Thomas yelled out.

Eddie looked up, slamming his phone on his desk, internally grimacing at the thought of his phone most definitely having a crack in it.

'Yes sir?' Eddie asked simply

'I need you to show around our new curator. And for the love of God stop calling me sir' Thomas groaned.

Eddie gave the grumpy museum director a quick salute before standing up and out of his chair.

'So what's your name?' Eddie asks the girl with a bob.

'Robin' she said, looking around Eddie's office. 'So why exactly did you slam your phone down? Were you watching porn or something?' she continued.

'W-what?-no-I was messaging a friend'

'Right'

Eddie's face went red and he just grumbled telling Robin to follow him.

Eddie did a fast paced tour around the building while also giving Robin some valuable information, such as which coffee machine to use and what time the ass kissing receptionist went on her half an hour smoke breaks.

'Jesus Christ, you seriously know everything don't you' Robin said, adjusting her bag.

'I do my best. Now this is your office, do whatever you want with it, Thomas will try and get you to keep it professional for about the first month. Then he just gives up' Eddie smiles

Robin nods, looking around the dusty office that hasn't been used for maybe two years?

She puts her bag down and sits in the chair, immediately regretting her decision as a cloud of dust shoots into the air, causing both her and Eddie to erupt into coughing fits.

'God-you, you cough like a grandma' Eddie laughs between coughs.

'You're one to talk' Robin shoots back.

Eddie checks his watch, he's got a tour in about 10 minutes. Shit.

He says a quick goodbye to his new co-worker and rushed out the door to his office, grabbing his lanyard and hair tie.

And right as he's about to leave his office, his phone buzzes.

Eddie picks it up and as soon as his phone lights up his face is splitting into an almost Cheshire grin.

It's Steve! Steve!

And as he opens Steve's message, Eddie swears that his heart skips 4 beats.

Hey! Wanna grab coffee after your shift? 3:21pm

Okay Eddie, play it cool. Of course he can play it cool. How can somebody play it uncool over text? Calm down Eddie. Seriously.

How about we make it dinner? It'll be late by the time I'm done with my paperwork and I know a really good restaurant close to the museum 3:22pm

That was cool. Right? Or was the message too long? Maybe asking to go to dinner was too forward.

His phone lit up again

Even better! :) 3:22pm

Alright. Meet me outside the museum at 6? 3:23pm

Eddie was practically giggling like a school girl. He never understood the saying 'butterflies in my stomach' saying. Well, he may have before with other crushes, (God he's 23 and he's still saying crush?) but with Steve, It felt like his stomach was on fire. Flame tickling his insides.

God he's such a sap.

Eddie looked up at the clock for the 8th time in thirty minutes. He couldn't help it ok? The most gorgeous man alive was interested in Eddie. Maybe interested. Well, Eddie hopes that Steve is interested. I mean it feels like it, they message nearly all the time, and Eddie feels like he's known Steve for years.

But maybe Steve wasn't interested. Maybe-Maybe Steve just thought Eddie was a fun toy to play with. Eddie hasn't always been seen as a guy everybody wants. Especially in high school. Eddie was the kind of guy that was asked out just for laughs.

Whether it be the time Eddie got asked out, just to have him covered in eggs, or the time that he got left a rose every day for a week before valentines and when he finally got a note asking for Eddie to meet them somewhere, Eddie got stripped to his boxers and tied to a pole.

But he left all that behind and moved to London.

Eddie looked up again at the clock and saw that it was 5:58pm. Shit.

He grabbed all his things and bolted out the door. Nearly forgetting his backpack.

He burst out the museum doors and saw a startled Steve.

'Jesus dude' Steve laughed

'Sorry, sorry! I had to rush, I got caught up' Eddie said, bending over and leaning against his knees, gulping down air.

'It's fine don't worry about it' Steve smiled. God that smile. Safe to say that Eddie has known this guy all of 2 weeks and he is absolutely whipped.

'Shall we?' Eddie asks, after finally catching his breath.

'We shall, sir Eddie' Steve laughed.

And he was a nerd? How was Eddie not supposed to fall for him.

Eddie practically dragged Steve towards the restaurant that was a couple blocks over. Everyone around them looking at the two like they were crazy kids.

Eddie let go of Steve's hand and rushed up to the doors of the restaurant, holding one open gesturing to Steve 'For you, King Stéphanos' Eddie smiles.

'Jesus nobody's called me that in ages' Steve chuckles, his eyes widening slightly 'King I mean, I used to be called King Steve in high school' he continued.

Eddie giggled boyishly at Steve's admission.

'Hi! Welcome to Nostalgic Diner! Table for two?' The hostess asks 'Oh hi Eddie!' She smiles recognising the young man.

'Hey Sue, yeah table for two' Eddie said.

Sue guided the two to a booth before throwing down some menus.

'Strawberry milkshake Eddie?' Sue asks knowingly

'Please, Sue'

Sue smiled at them before walking away.

'So you come here often?' Steve asks

'Trying to hit on me?'

'What-no no, I just meant that the hostess she knew your name and-and you knew hers so I-'

'relax I'm kidding, yeah. I come here a lot'

Steve visibly relaxes and Eddie slides a menu towards him.

'You want to take a look at the menu or do you want to hear my amazing recommendations?' Eddie asks

'I mean, you seem to know what's good on the menu here. So what is your amazing recommendation?'

'You seem like a chocolate milkshake and a bacon burger kind of guy'

'Then, a chocolate milkshake and bacon burger it is'

Once they got their food, they talked about anything and everything

'So what is your accent anyway? I can tell it's not British but it's something. Some of your words, they have a twang to it' Eddie asked

'Yeah...I lived in Greece up until I was about...um 12' Steve answered. But why did he almost sound unsure?

Eddie didn't think about it for too long, already asking a million questions about Greece, and if Steve had seen all the ancient landmarks.

But Steve didn't mind. He answered every question with as much passion as Eddie.

'So, did you get your ring from Greece?' Eddie asked. And he could have sworn he saw Steve's smile falter for a split second, before answering

'Oh yeah, my mom gave it to me' Steve replied softly, staring at the ring.

'Could I take a better look at it? It looks old but somehow preserved amazingly'

'No! I can't take it off!' Steve suddenly shouted. Eddie widened his eyes at his response and tried not to take it to heart.

'I'm sorry, I mean, I can't take it off because my mom died and the last thing she asked was for me to never take it off' Steve said, sadness covering his entire face

'No, I shouldn't have pushed' Eddie said, almost too quickly.

The silence was quickly broken by Steve telling Eddie about the trips he would take to see the Temple Of Poseidon, to which Eddie was nothing but totally invested.

Later. Bella had cleared away a few leftover plates after everyone else had left the house. Then she tried to read a book, but she couldn't concentrate. Her path then led her upstairs. Michael was lying on his bed, staring in one direction. until he noticed his sister. "Hey, are you OK?"/ "Can't we have a look at the cemetery, Micha? I want to see how everything has been made beautiful again"

Michael sat down on the edge of the bed. "Bella…". His sister spoke excitedly but confidently. "I know you miss mom and dad a lot too. But I would so like to put flowers down for them, or a nice vase. Sometimes I feel like I forget what they look like, we don't even have photos anymore. Please, Micha…". She looked at him with wide eyes. He could see that it was incredibly important to her. "hh, well… O.k…. I just want to have a quick drink of water." . Her eyes began to light up and she clapped her hands. "mhm, o.k."..

It was an extremely oppressive feeling for Michael as he walked hand in hand with his little sister towards the cemetery. And it wasn't even a 10-minute walk. When they reached it, he stopped briefly in front of the gate and looked up. "Almost everything destroyed… But this rusty thing is still standing…"/ "Come on, I can already see Lisa and the others. Ooh, flowers…". He looked after his sister as she ran to the others. Then he took a deep breath and walked slowly after her.

Michael hadn't been to this place since the catastrophe. And cemeteries were never particularly appealing to him. But when he saw Peter, he thought of the hug he had offered him. He felt good about it, at least for that moment. And maybe it would be possible again without standing in front of him with swollen eyes.

Everyone was busy doing something else in the cemetery. The girls were making sure the flowers were well aligned, a few boys were clearing away the remaining piles of earth. While Michael made his way to Peter, he was observed "Don't look, your protégé is here…". Xander paused for a moment. "Oh, really? I thought he wasn't ready for that step yet."

"Well, sometimes you have to let young people decide for themselves when they're ready for something, Xander. My own father was pretty strict, so he had to have his way. Michael has a wounded soul, and it needs to be handled gently." Meanwhile … Peter smiled … "hnhn, somehow I knew you'd come"/"ah… Really?".

"hnhn, so VJ didn't intimidate you, hm?"/ "that's not why I'm here…Bella wanted to come here. And I don't like to let her go anywhere alone."/ "I understand. ". Peter didn't say much yet, because he wanted Michael to relax first. "Where did… you get all the flowers?".

Once he had the spade in his hands and tried his first stab, Peter had to smile a little. "Hey, don't stand there so tense, it has to come more from the hip… Should I…"/ "No, no, I… I can do it…". That would have been the most embarrassing moment Michael could have had. That's why he made an extra effort now. "Yes, better, hnhn".

Peter watched Michael as he put the earth back into the hole. He was almost fervent about it and even started to sweat a little. "Hey, you don't have to completely overexert yourself now, okay? It'll really make your muscles ache later"/ "h-hh, it's okay… it's not much…". Peter looked at his friend and grinned a little "OK, have it your way, but don't say later that I didn't warn you".

A little later. "Have you ever noticed that Peter and Michael spend a lot of time together?" Candy looked over for a moment. "They've become pretty good friends. And Peter was very supportive of Michael when he lost his parents…". Lisa grinned and replied mischievously. "do you think there's some kind of bromance between them?"/ "Well, bro sure, but mance?"/ "Hnhn. well, it's none of my business, let everyone do what they want".

"Well, I wouldn't be surprised, there aren't any girls left who are free. But you and Davy?"/ "Hey, he's not that bad, he likes to talk, I think that's great. There are boys who prefer to watch soccer or go out with their mates"/ "Yes, that's true…"… Detlef's voice rang out a little later. "You've done a good job, kids. How about a photo of you all?".

The young people stood in a suitable place to have their photo taken. Detlef had a camera, which fortunately remained intact, "Very nice, and now everyone says 'cheese'". Not everyone was necessarily in the mood to put on a happy face. But it was definitely a photo you could hang up. At some point… "OK, that's it. Thanks for your help"…

Yuri Anime Masterlist (as of Oct 2022)

(For those not familiar with the term "yuri" (百合), it is used to refer to anime, manga, light novels etc. which focus on the close relationships - often romantic - between female characters. However, as it is considered a genre in itself, the term is both looser and more restrictive than one might expect, e.g. a work concerned with platonic and not particularly intense relationships between female characters may still be considered "yuri" if it fits the genre tropes and/or if it is marketed as such.)

One day I thought it'd be good to have a masterlist of yuri anime which included commentary on the show, to give people a better idea of what might appeal to them (or what to be wary of). "It'll be easy," I thought. "There aren't that many specifically yuri anime out there," I thought.

Turns out, 22 series may not be a lot if you're looking at all the anime out there, but it certainly doesn't feel that way if you have to write a proper entry for each one. 1. Revolutionary Girl Utena (39 episodes + 1 movie, 1997) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Okay, so this series was not actually marketed as being yuri, but it’s far too ubiquitous for me not to put it in this section. When she was a child, Tenjou Utena (Kawakami Tomoko) was saved by a passerby prince, so she decided that she too wanted to become a prince as an adult. Fast forward to high school, and she hasn’t forgotten that conviction: Utena gets sucked into a series of duels while trying to protect her best friend’s honour. After winning the first duel, she becomes ‘engaged’ to the eccentric “Rose Bride” Himemiya Anthy (Fuchizaki Yuriko), and the two start living together in the same dormitory.

First things first: there are a million content warnings for this series, including implied rape, sexual assault, incest, and homophobia. Although the issues are handled well (in my opinion), it does go to very dark places, so those wanting a light, fun anime to unwind to should look elsewhere. Second, this series is very much a psychological drama utilising the episodic duels as a way of hone in on Utena’s opponents and their stories, so Utena and Anthy’s relationship – though important – is definitely not the focus of the anime. Third, the TV series is limited to hinting at the romantic relationship between Utena and Anthy, not to mention that they spend most of the series being little more than acquaintances rather than actual friends. The movie Adolescence (which can be taken as a retelling or sequel, depending on your perspective) is much more explicit on this front, but also suffers from a significantly shorter runtime and a much more opaque approach to storytelling.

That being said! If you’re okay with all of the above, this series is pretty much a must-watch. The simplistic premise belies a much more complex and nuanced story about gender roles, sexuality, and human relationships and remains one of the smartest anime ever made, over twenty years on.

2. Bloom into You (13 episodes, 2018) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Probably one of the slickest-looking yuri anime out there, Bloom into You is a beautiful, polished adaptation of a manga of the same name by Nakatani Nio. Main character Koito Yuu (Kanemoto Hisako), who hasn’t experienced romantic love before, thinks student council senior Nanami Touko (Kotobuki Minako) is the same way until Touko suddenly confesses to her. The story follows the two girls’ trials and tribulations after that confession, and in particular how Yuu grows into her romantic feelings for Touko. The story can be messy at times but it’s got plenty of heart, and I really really love the other explicitly queer side characters – they’re so good that this series is worth watching even if you don’t click with the main couple IMO.

3. Maria-sama ga Miteru (39 episodes, 2004) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

A list of yuri works would be incomplete without mentioning this genre-defining juggernaut of a series created by light novel author Konno Oyuki, which is responsible for reviving the Class S genre and ensuring that yuri was for a long time – and to a large extent still is – associated with genteel all-female schools and girls calling their older targets of affection “onee-sama”. It starts with the elegant and aloof Ogasawara Sachiko (Itou Miki) inviting the main character Fukuzawa Yumi (Ueda Kana), an ordinary junior from the year below, to become her “petite sœur” (“little sister”, essentially a mentee), but branches out into more of a slice-of-life ensemble piece looking at Yumi and her friends and the various “sœur” pairs of the prestigious Lilian Girls’ Academy. Due to the “sœur” system, there is a whole fleet of F/F ships to pick from, but do note that only one character out of the very large cast is overtly queer.

Personally, I found the anime a bit dull, but the light novels and drama CDs were much more to my taste. Either way, anyone with an interest in the history of yuri as a genre should definitely check this series out in one way or another.

4. Kase-san and Morning Glories (58-minute OVA, 2018) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

The popular manga by Takashima Hiromi has sadly never received the full anime treatment, but at the very least there’s an OVA which adapts part of the story. The OVA starts with two high school sweethearts having recently entered into a relationship together, but Yamada Yui (Takahashi Minami), the timid one of the pair, is plagued with doubts over her relationship with the sporty Kase Tomoka (the eponymous “Kase-san”; Sakura Ayane). Famous for being teeth-rottingly sweet.

5. Aoi Hana (11 episodes, 2009) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Despite the somewhat misleading OP, Aoi Hana is a character-focused slice of life show about lesbian high schooler Manjoume Fumi (Takabe Ai), her crush on the prince-like Sugimoto Yasuko (Ishimatsu Chiemi), and her coming out to her childhood best friend and first love Okudaira Akira (Gibu Yuko). You might be wary as this anime is an adaptation of a series by queen of messy LGBTQ-related manga Shimura Takako, but the story ends before it gets into the real melodrama, leaving viewers with an open but hopeful conclusion. The gentle pastels of the anime also look very nice IMO, it’s a great fit for Shimura’s art.

6. Otherside Picnic (12 episodes, 2021) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Adapted from the ongoing light novel series by Miyazawa Iori, Otherside Picnic opens with college student (in a yuri anime! I know!) Kamikoshi Sorawo (Hanamori Yumiri) poking around in the supernatural “Otherside” and nearly being killed by a monster for her efforts. Her rescuer is the gun-toting Nishina Toriko (Kayano Ai), a young woman who happens to attend the same university. Since Sorawo is deeply interested in urban myths and Internet creepypasta, she decides to team up with Toriko, who is trying to search her friend who went missing in the Otherside. Otherside Picnic draws on existing Japanese urban myths and the Russian SF novel Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, but is also, though nobody seems to mention it, very much influenced by certain parts of the massive Touhou franchise – specifically the exploits of Renko and Merry (Sorawo in particular is strongly reminiscent of Renko). Although the anime doesn’t adapt enough to get to the explicitly romantic aspects of their relationship and has been criticized for undermining the horror elements with cheap CG, it has been praised for its college-age leads (though you wouldn’t know that from the character designs) and genre fiction focus, which are unusual in yuri.

7. Simoun (26 episodes, 2006) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

In the original SF anime Simoun, viewers are introduced to the nation of Simulacrum, which is embroiled in a bitter war against two other nations. On the front lines of this conflict are the main characters, a group of under-seventeens who pair up to pilot Simulacrum’s mecha (the titular “Simoun”). It’s a bit of an interesting case because although it is known and marketed as a yuri anime, for the duration of the series, the majority of the cast are not known to be female – the pilots come from a species where they are born monogender (although the designs skew feminine, similar to the Asari in Mass Effect) and pick their preferred gender at the age of seventeen (honestly, this sounds like a very sensible system). Don’t worry though, since sources say that a bunch of the endgame pairs do end up being F/F. Actually I’ve never watched this anime before as it’s known to be fanservice-heavy, but it does sound rather intriguing on paper.

8. Yuri Kuma Arashi (12 episodes, 2015) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Directed by Ikuhara Kunihiko of Sailor Moon and Utena fame and with character designs by prolific out yuri mangaka Morishima Akiko, Yuri Kuma Arashi is a surreal tale set in a world where bears can take on human form and are feared and reviled by the human population, who have constructed the “Wall of Severance” to keep them out. Amidst this, main character Tsubaki Kureha (Yamane Nozomi) is a bear-hating human who finds out that two of her classmates – Yurishiro Ginko (Arakawa Miho) and Yurigasaki Lulu (Ikuta Yoshiko) – are actually bears in disguise. The anime is generally well-received, with critics praising its handling of homophobia, prejudice, and exclusion, but I personally felt that the series suffered from its length (it was by far the shortest of Ikuhara’s outings at the time) and heavy use of imagery and symbolism in place of character-building and narrative construction, so YMMV. Please also be warned of that there’s some rather gratuitous fanservice, especially in the first few episodes. The three-volume manga of the same name by Morishima Akiko was good though – it uses the same premise but takes it in a very different direction!

9. Akuma no Riddle (12 episodes, 2014) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

A rare case of a yuri anime which manages to cover the entirety of the series it was based on, Akuma no Riddle is an adaptation of the manga written by Kouga Yun and drawn by Minakata Sunao. Assassin-in-training Azuma Tokaku (Suwa Ayaka) is exceedingly skilled but suffers from a career-ruining mental block: she can’t ever bring herself to land the killing blow, no matter how much she wants to. Tokaku is given the chance to prove herself by entering a girls’ school battle royale where she is to compete with other young assassins to kill a certain target – the bafflingly ordinary-seeming Ichinose Haru (Kanemoto Hisako). On an impulse, the otherwise cold Tokaku swears to protect Haru from the others, and becomes her bodyguard. As with Maria-sama ga Miteru, the series comes with a lot of pre-packaged F/F pairs for your shipping pleasure, but only one pair is overtly romantic. (Also, I was very unlucky and latched onto a pair which happens to feature the only character who has a male love interest… RIP.) The story needed a bit more space to breathe IMO, but others have enjoyed it for the action, fun premise, and for being one of the few yuri anime that isn’t yet another high school coming-of-age romance.

10. Citrus (12 episodes, 2018) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

An adaptation of the hit manga by Saburouta, Citrus focuses on the tumultuous relationship between rule-breaking gyaru Aihara Yuzu (Taketatsu Ayana) and uptight student council president Aihara Mei (Tsuda Minami) – who, it turns out, is Yuzu’s new stepsister. It is controversial for its frequent depictions of non-consensual kissing and other physical contact, and for the generally melodramatic, titillating approach taken to the relationship between the two leads, but some queer women really love this series and I’m not here to police, so here it is.

11. NTR: Netsuzou Trap (12 10-minute episodes, 2017) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

One of the most infamous yuri series out there, this is an adaptation of the manga by Kodama Naoko. It’s essentially a daytime soap opera dressed up as a high school drama: Okazaki Yuma (Kakuma Ai) and Mizushina Hotaru (Igarashi Hitomi) are childhood friends who both have boyfriends but end up messing around with each other. There’s cheating, abusive boyfriends, toxic relationships, and melodrama galore – very rare for yuri anime. If you enjoy soap operas this might be just the thing, although there’s probably more fanservice than normal.

12. Adachi to Shimamura (12 episodes, 2020) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Quiet slice-of-life series “Adachi and Shimamura” is an adaptation of an ongoing light novel series by Iruma Hitoma. The story depicts the everyday life of high school student Adachi Sakura (Kitou Akari) and her friend Shimamura Hougetsu (Itou Miku), who she has feelings for. Adachi’s feelings towards Shimamura are overtly romantic, but be warned that their relationship is more open-ended than in the light novels due to only the first few volumes being adapted. Received praise for its atmosphere-building, but this is tempered by there being a lot of fanservice throughout.

13. Inugami-san to Nekoyama-san (12 5-minute episodes, 2014) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

A series of vignettes adapted from the yonkoma (4-panel) manga by Kuzushiro, Inugami-san and Nekoyama-san is about the relationship between the dog-like cat-lover Inugami Yachiyo (Uesaka Sumire) and cat-like dog-lover Nekoyama Suzu (Toyama Nao). I haven’t seen it myself, but judging by the reception, it’s a good pick for those looking for a quick, fluffy watch.

14. Sasameki Koto (13 episodes, 2009) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

This adaptation of Ikeda Takashi’s manga follows high school student Murasame Sumika (Takagaki Ayahi), who has a crush on her female best friend Kazama Ushio (Takamoto Megumi). The twist is that she knows Ushio is into girls… so what’s the problem? Well, unfortunately for Sumika, Ushio can’t stop going on about how she likes very cute, “feminine” girls, and Sumika just doesn’t fit that type. And on a meta level, time is Sumika’s worst enemy, because this is another case of the main couple not getting together by the end of the anime due to the limited runtime. The series’ scope extends beyond the romantic storyline, however, and touches upon homophobia and queer media (okay, yuri doujin). On the downside, a lot of the humour is dated, and a cross-dressing character is dealt with in a poor manner.

15. Kashimashi Girl Meets Girl (12 episodes, 2006) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Part of the 2006 yuri anime boom, Kashimashi is based on the manga by Akahori Satoru. The story starts with young boy Osaragi Hazumu (Ueda Kana) having a rather confusing day: after being rejected by his female classmate Kamiizumi Yasuna (Horie Yui), he is killed in a freak UFO accident, and then resurrected – albeit in a female body. The anime shows the gradual process of Hazumu coming to terms with the new body and becoming mixed up in a gentle love triangle with Yasuna and female childhood friend Kurusu Tomari (Tamura Yukari). Apparently it’s quite sweet despite the decidedly mid-2000’s premise.

16. The Executioner and Her Way of Life (12 episodes, 2022) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

A twist on the usual isekai formula by light novel author Sato Mato, Executioner is centred on Menou (Saeki Iori), the eponymous Executioner tasked with eliminating with magically-gifted people from another world, i.e. isekai protagonists. One day, a routine job goes awry when Menou discovers that her target – a Japanese schoolgirl named Tokitou Akari (Kahara Moe) – has the ability to control time and thereby reverse her own death. Unwilling to let a person with such dangerous powers roam free, Menou joins Akari on a journey through the country, albeit one that ends before anything much happens – the anime adapts only the first two volumes of the ongoing light novel series. Also, somewhat surprisingly given the premise, the show is apparently an ensemble piece which focuses more on its world-building and action-packed plot, although Menou and Akari’s growing closeness does get some screen-time.

17. If My Favorite Pop Idol Made It to the Budokan, I Would Die (12 episodes, 2020) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

One of only three series on this list which do not mention school at all (the others being Simoun and The Executioner and Her Way of Life, to my knowledge), OshiBudo is an adaptation of the ongoing manga by Hirao Auri where protagonist Eripiyo (Fairouz Ai) overworks herself at part-time jobs in the name of supporting her fave Ichii Maina (Tachibana Hina), the least popular member of already-unpopular local idol group ChamJam. Despite the uncomfortable implications of the initial setup, the anime dodges the most obvious pitfalls as Maina’s relationship with Eripiyo is strictly that of idol and (overzealous) fan even until the end, and there’s actually more of a focus on Eripiyo bonding with her idol fan friends (sadly all male). Obviously there is only subtext in this show, and not anything heavily hinted at that, but it’s not a bad thing in this case.

18. Kannazuki no Miko (12 episodes, 2004) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Ah, Kannazuki no Miko, adaptation of a manga by Kaishaku. Famed as a yuri classic, nobody told me that it was actually a mecha anime (!) with a third, male protagonist (!!) in which one half of the F/F couple we’re supposed to be rooting for rapes the other and the story just glosses over it (!!! - rage). And it’s a pity, because the premise is solidly of the mecha genre and therefore refreshingly different to the usual yuri fare! An ancient evil looms over Japan as the Orochi mecha pilots begin to awaken, forcing main character Kurusugawa Himeko (Shitaya Noriko) and her classmate and friend Himemiya Chikane (Kawasumi Ayako) to work together as the sun and moon priestesses to seal the threat away. Unfortunately, in practice, it’s mainly Himeko’s male childhood friend Oogami Souma (Majima Junji) doing the fighting, and the anime spends more time building up a budding (straight) romance between Himeko and Souma before the sudden pivot in the last few episodes – a pivot which is difficult to be happy about due to the sexual assault. Watch if you’re interested but be warned that it definitely has the problems of mid-2000’s yuri and then some.

19. Strawberry Panic (26 episodes, 2006) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

An adaptation of the light novels by Kimino Sakurako, apparently this is basically Maria-sama ga Miteru done in a moe style and with fanservice. I don’t have any more to say as I haven’t watched it and the summaries don’t clarify much beyond it being a slice-of-life character drama set at a girl’s school (possibly multiple girl’s schools).

20. Fragtime (60-minute OVA, 2019) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

Fragtime adapts the manga by Sato about Moritani Misuzu (Itou Miku), a girl who can stop time for three minutes every day, and Murakami Haruka (Miyamoto Yume), a classmate who isn’t affected by Misuzu’s power. Audiences seem split between those who appreciated it as a slightly supernatural-driven coming-of-age romance and those who found it superficial and male-gazey (there is a very juvenile obsession with underwear).

21. Sakura Trick (12 episodes, 2014) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

This adaptation of a yonkoma manga by Tachi follows best friends Takayama Haruka (Tomatsu Haruka) and Sonoda Yuu (Iguchi Yuka) who, worried about drifting apart due to a change in the classroom seating, fall into a kissing-focused friends-with-benefits arrangement. Some find it sweet, others find it male-gazey, it’s a tale as old as time when it comes to yuri.

Bonus: Yuri is My Job! (upcoming anime) - Anime News Network | MyAnimeList

The recently-announced anime will adapt Miman’s ongoing manga about Shirasagi Hime (Ogura Yui), a high school student who gets pressured into working at a yuri-themed café where the waitstaff pretend to be students at a girl’s school who are in ambiguously gay relationships with each other. Hime is paired up with Ayanokouji Mitsuki (Uesaka Sumire), who plays the perfect onee-sama when working but hates Hime’s guts behind the scenes. Part human drama – like many a yuri series before it, the manga delves into the various characters inhabiting the café rather than just Hime and Mitsuki – and part metatextual riffing on the yuri genre, this should be one to look out for.

Let's see...without the ability to have a conversation, I'm not sure where exactly you are in skill level, so I guess I'll start with some basic quality-of-life tips.

General:

You don't have to go to college to get good at art. I didn't go to art school!

Watch youtube videos from good artists, or those you admire!

What kind of art do you ultimately want to produce? This isn't an instance of "I can only pick one thing", it's more like...each type of art requires different skills, and if you know ahead of time what you want to do FIRST, you can narrow down what you have to learn.

learn proper sketching and use of circles and other shapes to build the figure, don't just jump in making the final lines right away! It's not a "cheat", it's proper technique. It's "caring about your work".

Same for references. Google up some images of what you want to draw and look at them while you draw your own picture. It's not only okay, it's what professionals do. You need to train your EYE as well as your hand.

It's okay to mimic styles you like! But be aware that each artist may stretch or squish or exaggerate proportions to fit what they personally like to see. This is why it's IMPERATIVE that you learn realism alongside any manga style you want to try. Once you learn where the eyes sit on the face, the different facial planes and what bones they relate to, and different sizes and builds for the face, you can then manga them up to any style you want!

For real paper:

Use a protector sheet, or wear a glove on your drawing hand. You want to make sure you don't get graphite or colored pencil on the side of your hand, and then smear it on your drawing. Placing a piece of paper under your hand will protect your work!

Don't touch your art with your fingertips. Fingertips have oil and gunk on them, and will smudge your drawing. (If you're working with charcoal, this could work to your advantage! But you're probably not using charcoal. It's messy and usually limited to college art students.)

Get the right tools! You can buy a small eraser set in the art section of Wal-Mart for like $3 -- it has a polymer eraser, a smaller white eraser, and the all-important KNEADED ERASER. This thing can be squished and torn apart and it'll pick up graphite like a champ! Do not bother with hard pink erasers, they're trash.

You don't need special paper to learn. I used to draw on the backs of my dad's extra math photocopy papers. Copy paper is smooth and not too fussy and I like it. "Sketch pads" usually have a rougher grain, and I hate the way the paper feels. Also there's a lot of ugly white spots when you try to shade or use colored pencils. Only use that if you're keeping a cute little book or using pastel crayons or something (or it's all you have). Don't fuss over it too much while you're learning. It won't make much difference until you're ready to specialize!

Blending stumps are cool and even pros use them.

Get a small electric pencil sharpener. They're less than $10 at places like Dollar General, and those stores are literally everywhere.

If you get a manual sharpener in an "art set", that's fine, too, but it hurts my hand to do it manually. I like the ones that have little covers.

It DOES matter what kind of ink pen you use. Gel pens will smear. Most markers are washable, and you better believe they will run at the first hint of moisture. India Ink also smears and runs with water. I recommend Sakura Micron pens, Zig Mangaka pens, or my favorite --- the Kuretaki Bimoji felt tip brush pen. You can get all that on Amazon, and it's like $6. I got the superfine tip.

LET YOUR INK DRY BEFORE YOU PUT MARKERS OR WATERCOLOR OR ANYTHING AT ALL OVER IT. It takes maybe 20 minutes.

If you don't plan to color it, you CAN draw with a ball point pen and it'll look just fine.

Do a tiny little water streak test with any markers you plan to use with watercolor. Just brush a tiny bit of water over the mark after it's dry to see if it bleeds. I use that bleed to my advantage sometimes, but you just gotta be aware of what's what.

Digital:

You can buy a small, cheap tablet from HUION for less than $40. MAKE THE INVESTMENT. IT'S WORTH IT.

Clip Studio Paint is EXCELLENT. Well worth the $50-$60 price tag. I think you can try it before you buy it, too. It gives you access to the Asset Store -- which is the single greatest artistic sharing tool I have EVER seen, and I've used SAI for ...probably a decade... I've used dozens of custom brushes and even made my own, and I just can't even believe what is available with CSP. Do yourself a favor and get it.

"But I can't use a tablet! I can't look at a screen while I draw!" Yes you can. YES you can. Yes you can, if you'll just try it. "but I tried once and it didn't work" Well YEAH, if you only tried a handful of times, OF COURSE it didn't work. Do you know what practice is? HUION screen tablets are over $300!!!!! Do you have that kind of disposable income lyin around? (plz donate some to me if you do lololjk =u=; )

Start saving a folder full of refs.

Ask people to tell you what to draw. Let them request something for free. This makes you draw things you wouldn't normally draw, and there is INCREDIBLE value in stepping outside of your comfort zone. You will level up in no time.

Apprehensive green eyes scanned the packed bags by the open closet over and over again. His heart was in between a sort of bittersweet pain and worry mixed with pride at the events unfolding in front of him. Time flies is the truest statement especially now. And he couldn't help but to see his now teenager still as a small child even in pivotal moments as such. That same face now smaller, all the diaper changes and zoo/aquarium visits zipping through his mind. Each and every small school award, first steps, first word, small dimpled hands holding his much larger ones on walks now long gone...where did the time go?

"Dad, are you crying again? It's been 10 minutes since the last one." His kid chuckled at him. He smiles and quickly wipes the tears away that seem to keep pooling back up instantly. "Apologies, it's just that I'm...feeling quite a bit in this moment." He laughs sheepishly. His daughter/son/kid smiles softly and moves to give him a quick hug before zipping up the last bag. "Dad, I know you're probably really worried but I promise UA is a safe school and with my meta-ability, I know how to take care of myself haha!"

"Yes, but the dorms have me a bit worried. Are you sure you don't need me to just move there? Deika isn't too horribly far away for me to travel, for work. Besides, I can get a lot done remotely and-" His child laughed and shook their head. "Nah, this sounds a little bit more like bargaining haha. I'm not a kid anymore, and besides, I know even if I DO end up needing help that it won't be too far away. Especially not with uncle Tomoyasu's satellites trained on me." They wink before picking up some bags and beginning to lug them out to the car. Rikiya follows suit and grabs the remaining collection as he follows closely behind them. He watches with a twinge of sadness tugging at his heart as his kid finishes loading up and gets into the driver seat of the car. They smile sweetly and buckle the seatbelt. "Dad, I love you and I swear I'll call as soon as I finish settling in, okay?"

"I should hope so, or I will be up there within the hour if not."

(he wasn't joking, despite the smile)

The two bid their goodbye and as he watches his child pull out of the garage and head down the road, Rikiya can't help those familiar tears welling up in his eyes again for the millionth time today. Later that night he doesn't settle down for bed until he gets a call letting him know his child is okay. Even so, he still tossed and turned just a little bit beforehand. It'll take some time to adjust, but he's sure to get down to it eventually.
