INTJ's Concept of Failure

INTJ here, in the academic-professional world. A Science Researcher, a title that aligns with my personal characteristics, skills, and values. INTJs are very skilled in any career form, especially something they are passionate about or strongly attuned to. May it be analytic, creative, or even passive. It may seem that INTJs have their shiz together. (Most of the time they do). However, we cannot overlook that there is an inevitable small percentage that INTJs will encounter failure at certain points in their life, especially when we're freshly navigating new grounds. The concept of FAILURE is dreadful. Confronting failure, being in a situation face-to-face with failure is quite gut-wrenching and we feel like our hearts are dropping to the pits of our stomachs. If given the chance, INTJ will try to avoid it but over time will need to accept that they need to overcome their fear head-on. As an INTJ, I am currently facing a failure that is crucial progress to our project. A failure not only in a sense of duty but personally in terms of competence and quality. Ultimately, we INTJs need to overcome and recover... though not necessary to bounce back quickly. I think this failure only boosts the fact that we still have room for improvement and growth.

Who can give you closure— when you ask only for your own release, not for my truth, not for my peace?

When you say you hurt, because my words exist, because my pain breathes, but you never asked how much it hurt when you carved it in.

Who can give you closure— when all you want is freedom from the shame, and the burden of my name?

You say you needed space to grow, you say you needed time to know, you say you now can understand— but you never reached out to meet me where I stand.

You want forgiveness, like a favor owed. You want redemption, without walking the road.

But I— I have walked on the shards you left behind. I have buried the weight of what you declined. I have mourned the friendship you never fought for.

So no— I will not give you closure. I will not be the balm for your unrest. I will not untie the knot you tightened around my chest.

I do not owe you peace. I do not owe you grace. I do not owe you a place to wash away the ache of your mistakes.

I know now, I was never enough for you to stay, never enough for you to fight.

Are other infjs angry like me? Is it an infj thing? It wasn't always this way. I remember being happy or at least less angry. A lot less angry. But over time the anger grew and grew, almost imperceptibly, until one day it just became my default mood. And that, despite all the appropriate self care, sobriety and years of therapy.

I'm not writing this because I want or need a diagnosis. It's not pathological. The anger is just a response to an environment that crushes everyone but a few; the few who do the crushing. And that social justice component makes me wonder, are other infjs angry too? Is it an infj thing?

no one ever talks about how if you're a woman who:

• has an earthy or bohemian style

• have down to earth hobbies & pursuits (gardening, hiking, crocheting, collecting rocks, etc)

• have a demure personality & good at listening

people (romantically & platonically) think you're like some manic pixie dream girl who is supposed to heal them and be their therapist. and when you can't be all of that for them (because you're not a therapist & sometimes have bad days), they get mad or disappointed at you and want to treat you like you're defected and ditch you quickly.
