Minus MoM’s computers, all the tech in Daybreak Town is like 1920s (edit: correction 1940s) esque (is that spelled right? Autocorrect isn’t helping me lol) so I like to imagine that the only NUL who really knows how computers work is Brain. Like he found the control room and actually took the time to press every button and figure out how the hell to use it. Whereas the others know they’re there and have a vague-ish knowledge of them but mostly just leave the computer stuff to Brain.
So later on when he’s comparing what’ll happen to the Dandelions to a computer in sleep mode the other NULs are just like nodding their heads like, “sure Brain, whatever that means”.

WHO KNEW? 💍💔
Tumblr media
No outbreak!Joel Miller x f!reader
"You took my hand, you showed me how
You promised me you'd be around (...)
I took your words and I believed in everything you said to me (...)
If someone said three years from now, you'd be long gone, I'd stand up and punch them out, 'cause they're all wrong
I know better, 'cause you said forever, and ever, who knew?"
Summary: You and Joel had been married for a few months when he broke things up with you because he'd fallen in love with someone else, Sarah's mom. You parted ways but more than a decade later you end up meeting Sarah and that leads you to face your ex-husband one more time
• Inspired by this amazing HEADCANON request ❤️
Warnings: angst, broken hearts, asshole!Joel, divorce, infidelity, pregnancy, fluff (a little, maybe?) age gap (Joel is four to five years older than reader and the time skip is 12 to 14 years (Sarah's age) but feel free to imagine whatever you want)
A/N: Hi guys!!! I got obsessed with this story ever since I received that ask and turned into a headcanon but it wasn't enough, I had to write a longer, fuller version of this story! I think it's so appealing because we are all used to Joel being our knight in shining armor, always the perfect husband/boyfriend and well, here we can see another part of him. It's not a crime to fall in love with someone else, but the way he broke reader's heart was very mean. Also, I didn't specify reader's profession, just keep in mind she studied A LOT and now she makes good money, but feel free to idealize her job the way you want. Anyway, I hope you enjoy this story, besties ❤️

You never really understood why some people told you getting married so young would be a mistake. It didn't make sense to you, at all. You and your soon-to-be husband Joel, were young, yes, but you loved each other deeply. You figured it didn't take much more than that to make a happy marriage.
You were fresh from highschool, always had good grades and it didn't take long for you to be accepted in many different institutions, and yet, you decided it would be a good idea to take a sabbatical year in order to get yourself sorted out, maybe get a job and save up some money and enjoy your marriage a little. Joel was very supportive of you, even if he knew you would eventually leave for college and you would both have to make it work long distance.
Joel was just a couple of years older, he'd just left the military and he also needed to know what to do in life, in order to support his wife, he didn't have the book smarts his girl did, but he was kind-hearted and hard-working. He also hadn't planned on getting married that young, but before he could even try to make any sense out of it, he was deeply in love with you.
So Joel proposed, you said yes, his dad helped him get a small, but cute house and the two of you started your new wed life.
For the first few months, everything was a bed of roses; you were so in love, that man was simply intoxicating. His touches, his kisses, his body, his smell, everything about him was addictive to you and you couldn't be without it.
You had found yourself a part time job as a sales clerk at a baby clothes store at the mall, just as Joel was working as an apprentice in the construction business, it was a very hard job, and just in a matter of a couple of months, you saw your boyfriend becoming bigger and more muscular. He worked hard for you, for your relationship, your marriage and the future family you would build in a couple of years. Even if your friends had told you it was madness getting married so young and your family had asked you not to do it, everything was just fine, what could go wrong?
Every single day, Joel would come back home, tired from work, and he would be welcomed by you in your fullest housewife version. Dinner all ready, house spotless clean and a loving wife dying to be in his arms. He would not disappoint you, taking you into his arms, lifting you up, pressing you against the wall, his kisses were so urgent, so needy of you, his hands roamed all over your body as you felt his cock throbbing. Every night next to your handsome husband Joel was a delight, it was your personal piece of heaven, nothing could stop the two of you when you were together, but eventually, it happened.
You didn't know exactly how it started, or when for that matter, it was all a thick fog in your mind, being unable to say precisely when your marriage began falling apart. Perhaps it happened sooner than you thought but you were just too naive or too blind to see; first thing you noticed, were the kisses; they were gone. No kissing before going to work in the morning but you shrugged it off, thinking that maybe Joel was just in a rush to get to work. Though you really missed them, your skin seemed to burn and ache for his touch, you didn't want to seem like a clingy wife, or nag him with unimportant things. Whenever he came back from work, he was still all yours; that's why it took you long enough to notice it.
Every evening, he came back with the same hunger he felt, only this time, he didn't seem to have felt that hunger for you per se, more like a desire within that needed to have you to help him relieve it.
He took you every single night, he gave you pleasure, simple, raw, indifferent pleasure. You didn't actually remember the last time you actually made love, because everytime Joel touched you, he always had you on your hands and knees for him, always fucking you on your back. At the time you thought it was just some kink or something like that, but now it was pretty clear to you it was just the easiest way for Joel to close his eyes and pretend you were someone else.
It was just simply fucking, a means to get to an end.
Then, he began getting home later and later, sometimes he would be too late for dinner, or he would just skip it entirely. Never explaining exactly what he was doing or why he was spending less and less time at home.
"Sorry babe, just had a sandwich with the guys"
That's what he would say before shrugging and going straight to the bedroom; not taking his time to actually see you'd cooked his favorite or that you were starving because you'd waited for him until that hour. The weekends weren't different at all, at first, right after you two got married, you'd spend the entire day in bed, just enjoying each other's company, each other's bodies and love; caresses full of affection carried with lust, turned into nothing more than just a memory some months later. Every weekend Joel simply got up, had breakfast and told you he was heading for work; and he would spend the entire day there, no phone calls to let you know he wouldn't be back for lunch nor calls to tell you he would grab a few drinks with the guys.
Always the guys, and as much as you tried to convince yourself it was indeed just one drink, or a burger, or a soccer match with the guys, your heart was sending you signals, trying to warn you there was something seriously wrong. Yet, you chose not to believe it, you told yourself it was actually kind of cruel of you to have such thoughts about your poor hard-working husband. What kind of wife would you be if you became paranoid while Joel was just working hard to provide you a good life?!
Joel was so busy with his work he barely even noticed when you asked for a double shift on Saturdays. Not that you liked working at the mall, but if you were going to stay alone all the time, you figured you would at least earn some money. Maybe Joel was just stressed about having to put up with the bills all by himself, you reminded yourself. Perhaps things would be back at what they were in the beginning, you were now marking six months of marriage and you knew this wasn't supposed to be happening. Your husband wasn't supposed to be that uninterested in you, he wasn't supposed to be indifferent towards your presence or so ungrateful, and yet you decided to fight for his love, after all, you loved him more than anything, more than anyone, it was an overwhelming feeling but you simply couldn't move on from it.
You waited for Joel another night, you'd made dinner, but of course he said he wasn't very hungry because he had grabbed a bite to eat with the guys.
Your heart clenched, he didn't kiss you, nor held you, it was like you were two different people sharing the same house; not lovers, not husband and wife, perhaps not even friends anymore. It felt each time more and more empty next to Joel, but you tried. You sat down and had dinner on your own, as he glued himself to the TV, watching whatever it was on. You knew him enough to know his mind was drifting away, thinking of something or someone, you weren't sure, the only thing you were a hundred percent sure was that he did everything at his willpower so he wouldn't have to spend time with you. It hurt, like a knife piercing through your chest, it was humiliating and you still didn't know why you were insisting. You swallowed after dinner and walked to the couch, he was nearly asleep and you ran your hands through his hair, feeling how soft his curls were; you had missed dearly times like that, it had been only a few months prior and yet, it felt like an eternity. The way your Joel would come to you, crave your touch, and just overall pay attention to you, unlike the haunting reality that you had to face, in which your husband simply began to ignore you, as if you weren't much more than a shadow, or an invisible and yet quite annoying presence. You looked down at his sleepy and peaceful form, he always looked so young and innocent when he slept it always warmed your heart.
The tip of your fingers ran through his scalp once more, he had always loved that particular display of affection. Minutes passed while you stroked his hair, you could feel Joel shifting softly under your touch, satisfied groans coming out like purrs as he began to slowly open his eyes
"Angela.." he murmured under his breath, but it was loud enough for you to catch it.
At that moment you felt as if you'd lost all balance, gripping the couch and staring at him in disbelief
"Who's Angela?" Your voice suddenly loud and serious, making Joel snap away from the sleeping haze he was in and stare into your eyes. He was carefully not to give it away immediately
"What are you talking about?" He got up from the couch, determined to turn his back to you
"You said a name. Angela, who's she?"
"I don't know what you're talking about, Y/N, stop being crazy"
Your blood boiled at the accusation.
For months all you did was try to be the perfect housewife, you cooked, cleaned, worked and brought home the little money you made in order to win back your husband's attention, not only that, you didn't want to have to give away to everyone who told you you would be making a mistake by marrying so young. It had been so difficult to actually admit to yourself your marriage was at a risk, and now you just had enough proof. After months of indifference, your husband was now mumbling another woman's name; as if it wasn't bad enough, he was trying to make the tables turn by accusing you of being crazy. That was so typical of men, but not of your Joel, you thought he would never do that, you were so sure he was honest, honorable, a decent human being, he wouldn't hurt you on purpose in order to prove his point. Or so you thought.
"Don't you fucking dare call me crazy, Joel Miller, for the past couple of months you haven't given a shit about me, you're never home, you never spend time with me, you don't hug me, don't kiss me, you don't even fuck me anymore, and now you are mumbling someone else's name? Who's she? Is she your mistress? How long have you been with her?"
Again, you tried being strong, you really did, but your voice cracked, and the tears threatening to escape now ran freely down your cheeks, he'd walked away from you, but you managed to corner him in the kitchen, you were tired of being blinded by your own feelings, at the same time you were tired of being played by Joel, he had no right to act that way.
"Answer me, Joel!!! Who's the fucking whore?!" You yelled at him, the impatience and anxiety creating an explosive combination inside of you. You were so close to solving the mystery that haunted you at the same time you didn't wanna hear any further word. You just wished you could close your eyes and make all that away, you wish you could just wake up and see the last couple of months were nothing but a nightmare and that you still had the same good old loving Joel Miller as the best husband in the world; instead, he simply groaned, rubbing his face and looked down, not having the courage of look at you in the eyes.
"She's not a whore, don't call her that. I-We.. we're in love. I met her at work, she's the receptionist there and we hit it off… she's gorgeous, funny and I fell for her" he swallowed not sure where the strength to be honest with you about his feelings was coming from, but it was enough to make eye contact "I've never cheated on you, Y/N, I haven't slept with her yet, I haven't even kissed her, but I think she's the one, I wanna be with her, I'm not gonna lie to you anymore"
"You don't love me anymore?" That was all you could ask, out of all the cruel and raw information he suddenly threw on you, the only thing you could register was the lack of feelings from the man who swore to love you forever one day.
"Jesus, Y/N, let's not do this now" he groaned, wanting to shift all that anger towards you, somehow blaming you for what happened so he wouldn't be consumed by his own guilt. He wasn't blind, he knew you loved him, he knew you waited at the door for him every single day, with dinner ready a pie in the oven and giving you those sad, heart eyes in hopes of receiving his affection once more. You reminded him of a puppy, as bad as it sounded, all it took you to be happy was a crumble of his love. What angered Joel was that you weren't satisfied with just crumbles, you wanted more and more from him, and he was unavailable; he simply couldn't give it to you, because his heart belonged to someone else. He hadn't planned on that happening, if it were up to him, he would've honored the vows he took on his wedding day, but Angela walked into his life without a warning and swept him off his feet. He couldn't stay with you out of pity, you deserved to be happy and so did you, but you weren't meant to be together.
"Do you love me or not, Joel?! Did you even love me?" Another grunt from his lips, you were so frustrated you didn't know how to rationalize, how to wrap your head around the fact he proposed to you, he had promised you the world and yet now he was treating you as if you had never mattered to him. His cowardice made you sick, he wasn't even man enough to look you in the eyes, you felt so angry a part of you was glad his body blocked your access to the silverware set because if you got your hands into it you knew at that moment you were willing to make a mistake. You gripped his shirt, slapping his chest and scratching him in a sloppy way, demanding answers from him. He could stop you at any moment, Joel was bigger and stronger than you, but he let you have your moment of hurting him out of pity, before calming gripping your arms and pushing you away
"I guess it's obvious I don't love you anymore, I love Angela, it's not my fault, it just happened, but I'm sure I want to be with her, you and I can't keep lying to ourselves, you can't keep lying to yourself, we're over, just as the love I felt from you, it's over…"
•••
You didn't remember much more after that. Some flashes of the following days, where the initial shock was still going strong, the waves of sadness mixed with anger, how Joel gathered some of his clothes and left the house that same night - probably to go to Angela's, how you refused to eat for the couple of days, you didn't talk to anyone, just spent your time alternating between crying yourself to sleep and actually sleeping, were just moments of blur. At some point you remember Tommy - Joel's brother checking up on you just to make sure you were alright. Tommy was the youngest of the Miller brothers, he was said to be the inconsequential one, but he would never do what his older brother had done.
Only after a few days Joel stopped by the house you once had shared, he had heard from his brother the pitiful mess you'd become because of him, and though a part of him didn't have the courage to ever face you again, another part - a more honorable one - insisted on it because he had to give you some kind of explanation. So after work, he didn't drive to Angela's like he'd been doing for the last few days, becoming his sweet routine and bringing so much joy now that he was free to love her just as much as she wanted to love him. Instead of going to his happy place, Joel drove back to the house that used to be his home for a while, a place where he'd been happy but it hadn't been enough for him. It was funny how he expected things to be drastically different, because his life had taken a dramatic turn just as yours had, and yet, things were just the same, or they appeared to be at least. He got off his truck, seeing that not a lot had changed, but this time there wasn't music coming from the house, it didn't smell like fresh cooked dinner, simply the living room with the lights on were the only thing that showed there was still someone in the house.
When he walked in, he expected to see you crying, depressed and begging him to get back, but much to his surprise, all your bags were already nearly packed and though it was visible you'd had some rough time by dark circles under your eyes and how pale your skin was, you welcomed him with a emotionless expression on your face, pointing at the couch, so he would take a seat and you could talk things through. After all the crying and suffering, you felt as if something had clicked and suddenly you went from heartbroken to numb. You knew the swirl of feelings would come and go, but taking advantage of your numbness, you put your head into place as best as you could and packed all your things, you didn't want to stay at that place surrounded by Joel memories, knowing he'd left the place you once called home and you were both so happy and also so unhappy in a short span of time. You wanted to put yourself back together, heal from him, forget he ever existed, go back to studying and focus on yourself only. But for that to happen, you wanted closure, not only wanting, you needed closure.
His low apologies combined with the rambling that came out of Joel's mouth was getting on your nerves, why couldn't he man up and actually tell you what he needed to in order to finally close that chapter in your lives.
"If you're not getting straight to the point, I will, Joel… I packed my bags, I am leaving this house, it's yours, your family managed to help you with it and I wouldn't feel comfortable living here. I'll go to college as soon as the next semester starts and I'll be waiting for the divorce papers, sign it as soon as possible, and pretend this never happened"
"Wait… what?! You want to divorce?!" Joel was quite shocked, not that he didn't want to divorce, because he did, so he could finally be officially with Angela, but he didn't think it would be that easy for you to agree, let alone be the one suggesting it.
You laughed. It was a dry, ironic laughter, because honestly, you didn't think Joel was that much of a dick, it was fascinating how he broke your heart and he still found a way to have his ego bruised by the fact you wouldn't accept being in a submission position, that you wouldn't cry and beg for him.
"What did you expect Joel?! That I would stay here, legally married to you, cooking and washing your dirty underwear while you go out of the door and keep cheating on me with that whore? Seriously? That's how low you think of me?"
"I already told you she isn't a whore and I have never cheated on you, that's why I want to divorce, us getting married was clearly a mistake and it's not my fault if I don't love you anymore.."
"So whose fault is it? Mine?! Do you really think what you did isn't cheating, Joel? Just because you hadn't fucked her while we were still together, but you had spent time with her, emotionally connected with her, fuck, just the fact you let her get closer to you even though you were married, that's cheating! You say it isn't because you don't want to feel guilty, but deep down inside you just know it is! I agree with you on one thing, though: our marriage was a stupid mistake, because of you I delayed a whole year of my life, I almost sacrificed my future because I really took your words and believed them, that we would be together, I never thought out of all the people in the world, you would be the one to hurt me! I trusted you, do you even know how many times I cried and sulked because I blamed myself for your behavior? The amount of times I felt guilty for even remotely considering the possibility of you having someone else? Because in my mind you'd always been the perfect husband and yet, you were backstabbing me day after day, with that slut!"
"Don't you fucking call her a slut! She's not a slut, she's not a whore! It's not her fault if you are a petty envious woman!"
"She is a slut Joel, I'm sure of it, because if she had any decency she wouldn't have come closer to a married man, my husband! She is probably excited about the thrill, but I'm certain that once the reality hits and she sees herself locked inside having to carry out chores everyday, take care of the house, the husband and even the kids if you two ever come to it, it's not gonna be as fun, and then you'll meet her for real. I don't wish you anything bad, but god help you if you ever have to face a disappointment as big as mine"
You dried your tears and began removing your wedding ring, it was quite pricey taking into account how complicated your financial situation was. You intended to return it to him, but the mere thought of maybe Joel taking the ring and handing it to his former mistress and soon-to-be official girlfriend, was enough to make you nauseated. You gave up removing it and left the ring right there.
"I'm leaving this place tomorrow, you can send the divorce papers over to my parents' and I hope I'll never see you again, Joel"
•••
You wished you could say that was the last time you ever saw Joel Miller in your life, but unfortunately, things weren't too easy for you. Only two months before you could finally enter college and forget about the disastrous year you had, you were working double shifts at the mall, in hopes of saving a decent amount of money for yourself. It was supposed to be another lazy evening, in which you would have to kill time until you could go home, you had just had your break and as you walked back into the store, you couldn't help but pay attention to your left hand. The wedding ring still there. It brought you shame and embarrassment, the mere fact you left it there. You often lied to people and to yourself by saying it was a way of keeping disrespectful customers away, but the truth was, you just didn't know why it was so hard to do it. It felt like a weight you couldn't get rid of, a part of your life that seemed like nothing but delusion.
You were scared of removing that ring, it was a sign that Joel wouldn't be much more than a memory to you, and even if you knew that was exactly what you needed, your heart still yearned for him. It wasn't fair, to still love the person who had hurt you the most, burying deep those feelings but also knowing they were there was nerve wracking.
You were ready to get back to work, just about to enter the store you were so used to spending your whole day when you felt paralyzed.
"What do you think of this one, darling? Do you think our baby will like it?"
It was Joel's voice.
His voice.
Darling.
Our baby.
You stopped yourself right there, too far away from their distracted eyes, taking in all the colorful and beautiful options they had before them, but also close enough so you could actually hear the conversation. Joel Miller was going to be a dad, it was a fact, you weren't having a nightmare that you were about to wake up in cold sweat at any minute, instead, he was there, with her, the woman he dumped you for, the woman who was now carrying his child. Under the shelves you'd been hiding, you could only catch a glimpse of her baby bump, and the way Joel's hand rested over it in a protective way. It was enough to make your stomach upset, your eyes burning with the tears that once more insisted on appearing. He had moved on from you, much faster than you had moved on from him; their happiness could be beautiful to anyone, but to you it was disgusting, infuriating, they had no right to come to your place of work and be so glad about life itself.
You couldn't actually see Angela's face, all you were able to watch from where you stood was Joel's hand on her womb, his right one, but the moment he rested his left one on her waist, you gasped softly. The wedding ring was gone.
Joel wasn't feeling that comfortable about being at that particular store, though it was the only decent baby clothing store at the mall, he knew you worked there or at least used to; but Angela wanted new baby stuff and he was going to be a dad, so it was his duty to take her and help her sort things out. He thought of you, not having seen you or listened to your voice in months he sort of missed you? He couldn't lie to himself, he was glad to be divorced, he was happy in a relationship with a baby on the way, but you'd been important to him too, he wished things didn't have to end the way they did, he has gotten used to living with you, seeing you, kissing you, touching you, it was natural that he missed the dynamics you two had established. A part of him sort of wanted to run into you at the store, he wanted to see how you were doing, if you were taking good care of yourself, but it was a relief to everyone you weren't there. It would be just awkward and embarrassing to be baby clothes shopping in front of you. And of course, he never wanted to hurt you more than he had already done it, but you would have probably interpreted it as provocation.
He scratched down his head while Angela picked all her favorites, Joel tried hard not to pay attention to the price tags, money was still a delicate matter for the two of them, but he had managed to get some by selling his wedding ring. Of course the pair would've been worth a lot more, but he couldn't go after you to ask for your ring, so he just negotiated his own and took the money. It wasn't the ideal situation, but in a few months they'd welcome the tiny little person that would become the most important thing in Joel's life.
You were too hurt to continue watching their display of happiness, you turned your back to the place you were hiding and you returned to the small break room. That was indeed the last time you'd seen Joel Miller; that was it until you also met someone who brought chaos but also colors into your life.
•••
"Aren't you too old to sell cookies door to door for school?" Joel asked while chewing his scrambled eggs and slurped his coffee, watching as his daughter rolled her eyes at him
"Aren't you too old not to eat your vegetables?" She snapped back at him in their usual morning routine.
Sarah was a teenager, much to Joel's sadness, as he still had serious attachments to when she was younger. He knew it was part of life, and watching her blossoming into a beautiful young girl made him proud and hopeful about the future, he knew his sweet Sarah would go far. But that also made him scared, because no matter how irrational it was, Sarah always reminded him of you; and he knew that if any guy ever dared to do to his baby girl, what he did to you, he would be really to kill him in no time. Joel Miller would like to think he had improved a lot as a human being, after all, he wasn't a young man anymore, he was a full grown adult, who had to get himself together and mature after he was abandoned by his girlfriend with a newborn baby. Life was full of irony and he was one to witness it, being left by the woman he loved and trusted a little more than a year after he was the one who walked away from someone who loved and trusted him. It was what everyone said: karma is really a bitch.
Through the years, Joel really felt an urge to call you, perhaps ask you to meet him, so you could catch up and he could finally apologize to you, but he had lost all contact with you. In fact he had no idea what you were up to through the decades, the few times your parents ran into him on the street or at the grocery store and made sure to ignore his presence and pretend they'd never met. He just couldn't approach them and ask for your phone number. Besides, what would he even tell you?
"Hey, I just wanted to tell you the woman I left you for also left me, so now I'm a lonely single dad and I realized I took you for granted and maybe if you ain't busy, we could go for a cup of coffee or something?!"
It would be just straight up stupid, not to mention he was sure you would've found someone nice, someone worthy of you, probably you'd be married by then, perhaps you'd have a kid or two, and he was sure you'd be an amazing mother, because he just knew you were an amazing wife, and he was the only one to blame for not treating you the way you deserved it.
So Joel decided it was best if he pretended nothing ever happened just like you did with him, of course destiny had other plans.
He gave Sarah a ride to school and went to work. It would be another busy day, like all of his days, in which he would work hard in order to save as much money as he could, wanting to assure his daughter the future she deserved. For Sarah, it meant another day of classes and selling cookies. She didn't like the activity, but she didn't hate it either. In fact, on that particular day she felt kind of excited as she was about to head towards the 'good' part of the neighborhood, where most houses were big and seemed expensive. Getting her backpack and her stash of goodies to sell, she left home and went on with her day.
You, on the other hand, hadn't planned on coming back to Austin so soon, as the years turned into a decade, and then a little bit more than that, you had dedicated yourself fully to your academic and professional life, focusing on yourself only, managing to bury deep your memories of Joel and never paying attention to anything remotely close to a love life.
Yes, you'd had relationships, affairs, and you'd been with a few guys: one of them was Javier, he was a handsome but very slutty cop who you had a no-string relationship with; it was good for a while, he was handsome, sexy and he fucked like no other, but he had a taste for women that unabled himself to keep it inside of his pants. You liked the freedom, but that was too much.
You also dated a guy named Dave for a brief period, he was nice, also painfully handsome, a tiny bit mysterious about his high profile government job, but he wanted a family, not just another relationship. He wanted marriage and kids, and you were just out of it in no time. The last straw was when you were traveling back home and during one stop for dinner at a small, cozy bar, a guy dressed entirely in cowboy attire came onto you. It was the undeniable proof you weren't made for relationships at all; it was like Joel Miller had casted a spell, or worse, a curse on you: it had become impossible for you to be in a relationship. Still, that wasn't your main concern, not more than why you had to move back to Austin after all those years shifting from New York to Boston, Texas and even a brief period in Spain which led you into an affair with another guy named Javier, but well, that was definitely another story. You'd simply got a phone call from your parents talking about a family emergency and once you had asked for a leave, your boss had mentioned the opportunity of you working for the Austin branch, it was a promising one, with a lot of chances of career growth and becoming the head of the office would actually come in handy, so you had no other option than say yes and pack your stuff. When you got back to Texas, despite the suffocating heat, you were also welcomed with suffocating news of your grandmother's passing, and a couple of weeks later, the news she'd left you a house in the suburbs, a real good area with many families, easy traffic and a lot of space. Having become an apartment person over the years, you first thought it was so odd to live in a house, especially by yourself. Everything seemed so big but now you didn't have to worry about having to clean it all, being able to afford someone to do so, you found your way by decorating everything exactly the way you liked it, using the spare rooms to build your home office, your closet space and a guest room, you slowly turned grandma's house into your own. However, the exterior still bothered you: there was a great space in the backyard, but the swimming pool was empty and dirty, and you could definitely have a barbecue area built so you could welcome your friends and family on weekends. As it wasn't your priority, you didn't bother so much about it, turning your attention to settling into your new office first.

"Oh, hi ma'am, I'm selling cookies to help our school fund, would you be interested?" Sarah displayed a wide grin, hoping that would soften up the very annoyed looking old woman who opened the door. She noticed how the old lady looked at her up and down and just groaned a 'no' before practically slamming the door shut. Sarah sighed and shook her head, and there she was thinking the people who lived in the wealthier part of the neighborhood were more generous, but apparently they were just a bunch of snobbish cunts. Her stomach growled in hunger as she walked some more, she knew she should've eaten before going to sell the cookies, but she didn't have time at that moment. She insisted some more, knocking on another door, having no clue she was actually knocking on her father's ex-wife's door.
Sighing tiredly as you closed your laptop, you looked around and focused on what you would do next. You knew you needed to go grocery shopping soon, but you just didn't feel like driving to the store and pick up vegetables, so instead, you left your study and went to the living room, getting comfortable on the couch and groaning slightly the moment the doorbell rang. You were just so comfortable on the couch, you considered ignoring whoever was on the other side of the door, but for some reason, a slight wave of guilt made its presence and you obliged to answer whoever was disturbing you.
"Hello! My name's Sarah Miller and we're selling cookies for the school fund, would you be interested?" The smiley girl repeated her memorized speech the moment you open the door, she discreetly watched you, seeing you didn't seem so closed like the woman from the previous house, but still she wasn't sure if you were friendly, not when you stared at her with a seemingly shocked look.
Miller.
Her name was Miller.
Your heart raced and lost track of what she was saying, knowing you desperately needed to get your shit back together; Miller wasn't an uncommon name at all, quite the opposite, you had met a few people who also coincidentally had the same last name as your ex-husband, so your reaction to the girl's name was just absurd. Maybe it was because you were back in Austin, where everything happened, but then again, you reminded yourself Joel wasn't the only person named Miller in Texas.
"I-I'm sorry… I got distracted but yeah, I'll take two boxes" you smiled at the girl, she was a teenager, a very pretty one, she was pretty good at expressing herself though she looked exhausted and sweaty.
"Would you like to drink some water?" You offered her, feeling sorry for her at the realization she had probably been walking under the sunlight for quite some time. Sarah didn't think twice before nodding eagerly as she stepped inside, dragging her school bag and her cookie cart along. You let her in, finding sweet how she looked all over the place, taking in the different details from your home and enjoying that environment.
You guided her to the kitchen, getting her a tall glass of iced water, frowning at the fact she wasn't following you anymore. Instead, she stood in front of your bookshelf, looking at it up and down, trying to take in as many titles as she could. Sarah would love to have her own bookshelf like that, she loved reading ever since she was a little girl and though she used the school's library a lot, she thought the idea of having her own things was appealing, but she understood her dad couldn't simply splurge on books for her whenever she wanted to.
"Do you like books?" You asked her, walking closer and handing her the glass of water, which she killed with only a few gulps.
"Have you read all of them?!" Her surprised voice made you chuckle, she was such a sweet girl, you had no idea why you instantly liked her, but you did.
"Well, not all of them… I've just bought some of them and I haven't had the time yet, why? Did any of them interest you?"
"Well…" she said shyly and hesitantly ran her fingers through them, only pulling one out to read the description at your encouraging nod. "This one seems nice…"
"It is nice… do you want it? You can take it!" You smiled at how she blinked a little confused but nodded, so thankful for your kindness. Even if she didn't know you, Sarah already liked you. She smiled at the book and placed the glass down.
"Have you had lunch?" She shook her head shyly and you smiled "come on, I'll make you a sandwich…"
For the next hour, you and Sarah talked about several things: she told you about her school, her interests and how much she loved reading. She had assured you she would return you the book as soon as she finished it and you assured her she could borrow as many as she would like. She also briefly talked about her family, mentioning she lived with her dad on the other side of the neighborhood and you told her a little bit more about yourself.
She widened her eyes the moment she saw what time it really was, and quickly grabbed her backpack and the book you'd lent her, thank you several times as she walked towards the door "go before your mom gets worried about you" you told her without much thinking, but she shrugged "mom's not around… I live with my dad only, but it was really nice meeting you, Y/N"
•••
And for the next month, at least once a week you'd get a visit from Sarah. It had become a habit of hers to just stop by, spend a couple of hours with you, return you the book she'd borrowed the week before and get a new one. She didn't talk much about her family, it was mostly about school, friends and boy crushes and books. You were kind of suspicious she was missing a feminine figure, since she briefly told you her mom left a couple of months after she was born without looking back, you picked up the hint she wasn't open to talk about it yet, and you respected it. You were glad you unexpectedly got a new friend, a very young friend, and at first you thought it was kind of odd, until you realized she sort of resembled a daughter figure to you. After all, if you had had children with Joel, your child would be around Sarah's age.
Joel also thought it was kind of weird his daughter made an adult friend, he was well aware of how dangerous things were in the world, especially for young, innocent girls like Sarah, but when she told him her new friend was a woman, single, childless woman, who was nice, definitely had some money but also seemed quite lonely, he assumed she was one of those old cat lady kind of women; in his mind, his daughter's mysterious friend was probably a widow, who didn't have any kids and now had to approach random people for attention so she wouldn't be alone all the time. If only he knew how wrong he was, he would've asked your name, but he didn't. And he also knew he should've done it, perhaps even asked for your phone number so he could call you in case of god forbid, an emergency. But he worked so hard, not only that, he was going through a very stressful period too, so he didn't pay as much attention as he should have towards several things.
Sarah had become acquainted with several aspects of your life, from the time you spent together in your weird version of a book club. Mostly the conversations were about her and the struggles she often faced as a teenager, but sometimes you let out information, plans or complaints here and there. It wasn't different the day you were very displeased with how your backyard was looking; it had potential to be a beautiful place but it needed fixing and remodeling. Perhaps it'd been the stress at work, but for whatever reason the way that place looked was bothering you and making you cranky, if any other given day you wouldn't give a crap about it, but at that moment you did, and not only that, you mentioned it to Sarah, who tried to be useful and told you she could ask her dad to take a look at it, after all, he was in the business and could help you with it. You said yes and told her you'd be expecting the two of them on Saturday morning. Only when the girl had left happily carrying another book in hands, was that you realized that maybe, and just maybe, you should've asked her father's name.
•••
"So, you're really sure this friend of yours wants to get some stuff remodeled? And that she can afford it?" Joel glanced at Sarah before focusing again on the street as he drove to her new friend's house. He wasn't truly convinced you would actually want to hire his services, it just seemed too good to be true. He held back a smile at the way Sarah rolled her eyes at him, she'd told him hundreds of times that yes, you needed someone to repair and remodel the backyard, if anything, he could at least indicate you someone who could provide the service you were looking for.
"Fine, let's help the old lady then" he grunted at the same time his daughter turned to him "what old lady?!"
"Your friend… isn't she old? I mean, she's lonely and she lets you hang out… I thought she'd be like our neighbor an-"
"Dad, she's younger than you, I think! And she's pretty too…"
At that information Joel was more curious about you. Why was a pretty young woman all alone and willing to be friends with a girl who could roughly be her kid's age?! Were you really pretty? And did you really want your backyard remodeled or was Sarah playing matchmaker? He really hoped she wasn't, otherwise he would be very angry. Joel didn't need a new relationship, he didn't want to, having failed the two major ones he had in his life, the first one being so immature and cruel to his sweet young wife and the second one he didn't exactly where he screwed up, perhaps he had just been naive and thought the woman who wanted nothing more than just some fun was actually willing to build a life with, or maybe he wanted her to take over your place, after all, you'd set the bar pretty high for Angela when it came on being a dedicated housewife. The raw fact was that Joel was alone all those years later, his first wife was hopefully living her best years with someone who truly deserved her and Angela was God knows where but he didn't give a single fuck. She'd been dead to him from the moment she walked out of his door, denying her own baby, and all that passion he felt turned into hurt and anger. Unlike the feelings he had for you: as the years passed and he grew older, he thought of several times he could've treated you better than he did, he thought of how he would have tried not hurting you as much as he did, even if the situation the two of you were was tricky, he often fantasized about a version of your marriage where he hadn't ruined everything, where he had been honest without being cruel, without playing with your feelings, he didn't know if it was just his conscious weighing heavily on him or what, but he always thought of you with affection and love. At that time he was sure he didn't love you anymore, the passion he felt for the other woman was too intense, too much, it blinded and deafened him from everything around, everything that mattered the most to him at the time. But all those years later, Joel was sure the love for you was still there, perhaps it was just hidden away, or it got stuck under all that shit that went on, still, he didn't know who you had become, what you looked like or where you were at that moment, so it was a fairly assumption he was still in love with a memory and nothing more than that.
"Fine, so what's her name after all?" He questioned his daughter after some moment of silence but before she could answer, Joel parked his truck in front of your home.
You heard the engine and you went to the window, checking the unknown car parked in front of your place and though you couldn't actually see them inside, you knew it was Sarah and her dad. Just as you went to the door, he exited the car, his back to the entrance as you walked to them and greeted Sarah, at the sound of your voice he immediately turned around and the two of you froze in time as you watched each other there.
Joel.
You felt as if you were trapped in a weird dream, the ones you know you are just dreaming and yet you can't move or speak, just taking the role of the audience of a bizarre picture that formed before your eyes. Joel on the other hand, stared at you in complete silence, you couldn't really read him, it was impossible to know what was going on in his mind, in his heart, you could just feel his eyes roaming over your body, taking all the image of you as if he was trying to make sure you were actually what he saw in front of him. He couldn't believe it, after all those years, after everything he did to you, you were there, beautiful as you'd always been, even more so, the fancy lifestyle really suited you, he could tell by your clothes, your nails perfectly done, your hair looking gorgeous and styled nicely, you had succeeded, you had had a life he knew he could never provide you, and for that he felt kind of relieved, at least one good thing came out of your divorce: the chance of you having the success you deserved it, you weren't that housewife who needed to still work part time at the mall, you were above that now, and Joel was so damn proud of you for it.
"I-I.. yo-"
"Nice to meet you, you must be Sarah's dad" you interrupted him before he could say your name and extended your hand to him, pretending you'd just met. He was confused but you tilted your head very discreetly towards his daughter, being sure she didn't know anything that had happened between the both of you. He immediately picked up the hint and introduced himself, as if you were meeting for the first time. His hand engulfed yours like it always did, Joel Miller had always had big and strong hands, surely they got calloused through the years, but you knew damn well what they were capable of doing to you. He was older, looking more handsome than you thought he would, he aged like a fine wine, streaks of silver here and there but the majority of his hair still dark and soft like always, he was bigger too, he was stronger, broad and grew several muscles, all of it a result of years of hard-working. No matter if he had broken your heart, there was no denying he was an extremely attractive man.
He appreciated how heartfelt you were towards his daughter and gladly followed you inside once you invited him into the backyard to discuss what could be done. Sarah was right behind the two of you, but you turned to her, smiling big
"I went to the bookstore yesterday and I think you might enjoy what I bought, wanna take a look at it? They're all in the living room" you suggested to her who nodded and happily went after the books.
Once you and Joel got into the backyard, he stuttered some apologies but you immediately cut him off.
"I don't want apologies Joel, I didn't know Sarah was your daughter and I probably wouldn't have let her in if I knew who she was, but now I got attached to her and I hope our situation isn't going to prevent us from being friends" you told him honestly and watched as he nodded
"You know, her mom, Angela, she left us and I'm very sorry I left you for her.. "
"I don't wanna hear it, Joel. As I said, I don't wanna hear it about her mom or the apologies or anything at all, I mean, Sarah told me what happened and it's enough, you and I aren't together anymore, we're better off without each other, so let's just overcome this part and focus on the job I need you to do…"
"You know, I can indicate you another contractor to do it for you, so it won't be weird…"
"No, you can do it, unless you are feeling uncomfortable but other than that, I'd rather you do it, besides, Sarah would find it awkward"
And like that, Joel got into his professional mood and the two of you discussed the project you had in mind, hiring his services, he told you he could start the next Monday and he would take care of it himself, to make sure things would go according to your wishes. He noticed you didn't wear any commitment rings, nor there were pictures of you and any guy indicating a relationship and in his heart, the hope of perhaps taking you out for a coffee and getting to know you, the woman you'd become after those years, after growing mature and changing your life completely, growing in his heart. It was a fair assumption Joel had an immediate crush on you, the feelings he held within, were now blossoming more, at how beautiful, intelligent and attractive you were and suddenly, the roles were reversed: if more than ten years ago you had it bad for him, now he was the one who felt like a sick love puppy towards you.
The first week of working wasn't so bad at all, Joel would arrive at yours earlier than you expected and would start working. You didn't stay around much, letting him do his job while you were probably working in the living room or any other part of the house whenever you didn't have to go to work per se. He tried making small talk during some of his breaks and since you didn't see any harm in it, you chatted briefly, that was how he'd learned what you did for a living, where you'd been after you left Austin, and stuff like that. He told you some things about his life, mostly about how it'd been the experience of raising a child on his own, but whenever he got near bringing up your past or trying to apologize, you'd cut up any kind of interaction with him. At the end of the day you and him had nothing but a professional relationship. He understood your reasons, and yet, he hoped you would find at least a small breach in your heart to let him in, he really hoped he could show you he was a better man now, that he could be suitable for you, and yet, you kept yourself all the way distant and protecting yourself from him.
So it became a very common scene to always escape from Joel, moving seats or rooms whenever he was around, you didn't know how else to act, what he expected from you. It wasn't like you were old buddies catching up after years in a long-distance relationship. And he always got displeased.
It was about the third week of working at your house, he asked if he could use your kitchen to have lunch, heating up the food he'd eat, you smiled at yourself as you were taken back by the memories of times where you would prepare him lunches and send it in his lunchbox, how you would worry about him being hungry so you would always make sure there was something fresh out of the oven for him to nibble on as soon as he got home from work and chuckled softly, shaking your head and excusing yourself. He'd thought you would at least have lunch next to him, but you weren't willing to do that at all, and that both pained and pissed him off.
"Would it kill you to spend time with me? Look at me? Or act like a human being instead of being all stiff like a robot whenever I'm around?" He asked, breaking the silence, you could see he was frustrated and that puzzled you to no end.
"What are you talking about, Joel?!"
"You don't talk to me, Y/N, I try making small talk, you don't answer me, you don't even look at me, suddenly I'm not worth your time? You're too good to even acknowledge I am next to you?"
"Do you really want to talk about not being worth someone's time? Really Joel? I thought you had grown up during all these years but I can see you are just the same shallow fuckboy who gets pissed off when you see I'm not crawling towards you…"
"Stop being unfair to me! All I'm trying to do is to show you I've changed, I am a better man, a better person, I'm not that same immature Joel you met so many years ago, I'm trying to make you see I'm a new man…" he went from angry to desperate, you took a step closer and looked into his eyes, not breaking the eye contact for one second.
"I know Joel, I know you've changed… you've grown into this hardworking man, this amazing father, I can see it, I hear it every time Sarah comes over, but you don't have to try too hard, it's not gonna change anything… You and I are two different people, we have nothing to do with each other anymore"
"You can't say that, I want you to see we could try it again, I still love you, Y/N!"
"Joel, we'll never try it again, the marks of your betrayal still linger here, all over me, forgetting you was the hardest thing I've ever done, and I don't want to ever feel it again. You don't love me, Joel. You love the idea of me, of picking up the shattered parts of your broken life and making it right, you love the thought of building up a family, of giving your daughter the mom she deserves, and it's all because it didn't work out with that woman. We both know it… if she hadn't left you wouldn't even be thinking of me" you looked down, trying to hold back a tear that insisted on falling, but failing at that matter. "I wasn't good enough to be by your side, to build a family with you, you can't just expect me to throw myself into your arms as if nothing had happened, what exactly do you think would happen between us in the first place? I'd be waiting for you every single night with dinner ready? Those days were over, Joel…" you sniffed and he sighed, placing his hand on his waist.
"Give me a chance, go on a date with me, please… before you say no, just think about it, of what we could have together… please! You don't have to answer me now, think about it and when I finish the job, you can tell me your answer"
•••
The following weeks were as normal as they could be; you hadn't told Joel yes but you hadn't told him no either and even if it pained you to admit it, you sometimes thought of his proposition. Sarah was still coming over, your bond was now stronger, you really liked each other and despite everything that happened, you were thankful Joel wasn't against your friendship. You two had agreed on not telling her anything about your shared past at the moment, but in case you two decided she needed to know it for whatever reason, Joel would be the one to tell her, it would only make sense. You also thought about his words and you decided to be nicer to him, actually stopping to talk to him, or having lunch next to him instead of rushing away as fast as you could and in retribution, he stopped with the feelings talk. The deadline was coming to an end, as your backyard remodeling was getting prettier and prettier each passing day. It was odd and awkward and you wanted to get things over with as soon as possible at the same time a strange fascination with watching Joel caught you. It was hard to explain, but when the final day came, when Joel and his assistant showed you the word ready and done, and after you paid them the large wage you owed them for the services, your ex-husband asked to talk to you. He had hope in his eyes, he was wearing his flannel, and he'd combed his hair a little, which made him look painfully handsome, your heart clenched. Even before he could say anything, you already had your answer. He stood in front of you, baffled at the fact you threw your arms around his body, pulling him for a hug. His hands locked around your waist, strong grip not wanting to let go, while you sank into his warmth. He was your old Joel, the one you'd loved so deeply and broke your heart, but nonetheless your Joel.
Taking your hand to his face, you stroked it gently, feeling his beard scratching your palm a little and you smiled "I forgive you, Joel… I don't know if you wanted my forgiveness or not, but I forgive you anyway, I don't resent you anymore, what's gone, it's gone and now we can only focus on our future. I know that if I tried looking for a space in my heart, I would find it a part that still keeps all the love I felt for you, but we've changed, for the best and that teaches us we should never make the same mistakes from the past, so you do understand why we can't go on this date, right? We can't be together, I'm sorry Joel, but you know it's true… I just need one last thing from you…"
You told him, leaning towards him and pecking his lips. After all that time, it still felt like your favorite place in the world, your heart raced the moment he groaned into your mouth and his hands tightened his dominating grip on you. It was quite pathetic how he still had the same effect over you and if he hadn't hurt you as much as he did and condemned you two to a relationship based on lack of trust, perhaps you could even consider trying again. Forgiving and forgetting were different things, whereas you didn't resent him anymore, you hadn't forgotten about how broken he left your heart. You would never be able to trust him again, always worrying he had found someone better like he did once, you couldn't do that to yourself, you loved yourself too much to go back to Joel Miller. That last kiss you cherished, you would keep it in your memories, but it wouldn't go further than that. You and Joel were done for years and nothing would convince you otherwise.

Heard you're looking for an idea for Graves, so perhaps Graves fell for one of the Shadows' sibling? Y/N visiting work one day to drop something off for their brother and Graves was there so he ended up pestering the Shadow for a chance to get to know them
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for the inbox and very sorry for the wait. Hope i did you justice and i really hope you will enjoy reading this. :3
Below: Philip Graves x F.Reader, Y/N used and reader has a set family name. Fluff and funny content anyone can read it.
***********************************************************
Siren Beaty
It was a bright sunny morning at the base Philip was just about to call a meeting with the Shadows when a young pretty thing walked in the door. Looking around like a wandering baby deer when it realized it’s mom was nowhere to be found.
The beautiful woman was a mystery, Graves would have remembered a face like that, a face that looked like a siren waiting for a man to fall for her game. Graves felt his breath hitch when the girl made eye contact with him. Looking across the room, looking across all the men there but only making eye contact with him, not giving anyone else a second look but still looking at him.
You could only imagine Philips face when the beauty took a step in his direction.
He didn’t want it to be obvious that he was looking at her before so he turned his head to look at his men like he was just there to make sure everything was good and dandy.
“Sorry Sir? Could you help me?” asked the girl with the sweetest voice, it felt like crackling wood in a winter day, warm and homey. Philip could already see there future together even before he looked at the little lady before him.
He turned in the direction of the honey voice.
“Pretty sure I’ll know the answer” was the response, to Graves’ defense he didn’t want to sound cocky, it’s just the way he talks. He wanted to smack himself for sounding like any other prick would. His only reasonable option was to smile and hope it takes her mind off of his not so friendly first impression. That southern smile would make anyone drop their panties faster than lighting, but our mystery girl had self-control as it seemed. She smiled back so in Philips eyes it was a win.
“I’m looking for someone, maybe you could help me find him Mr.Graves?”
The gears turned in the Commanders head. How could she know his name if he was seeing her for the first time?
“Do I know you sweetheart?” he asked confusion clearly written on his features.
“No Sir, I’m looking for Sergeant Miller, he told me your name.”
“Ah the Sergeant.. I can call in for him if you want? What should i say who’s looking for him?” Graves was desperate for a name or some sort of information about the lady …looking for another man…
“Y/N Miller” Graves’ hearth could be heard as it cracked a little. So that means she is taken, by none other than one of his men.
“Wife I assume.” Philip smiled but it did not reach his eyes, it was only for formalities, to not look rude in her eyes.
She laughed, her eyes crinkled.
“Oh god no, no he is my brother.” She said after she calmed down. For some reason this piece of information took a lot of weight off Graves’ shoulders. Philip smiled gently and placed his hand on the small of her back.
“Good to know,” he muttered “good to know..” as he lead her to her brother. When they made their way back to the sleeping quarters Y/N fled as soon as she saw her brother.
“Hey big bro!” She yelled to get the Sergeants attention, Miller turned around and already opened his arms to give her a hug.
“Hi there sis,” he said as he held her “did you get here easy?”
“Yeah, actually Mr.Graves here was nice enough to lead me to you.”
Miller looked up to see Philip standing just at the doorway and nodded “Appreciate it Sir.”
Graves just nodded back in a way to gesture it was no big deal, then looked at Y/N and smiled “It was nice to meet you Ms.Miller.” then he left not waiting for an answer, he didn’t want to disturb the siblings any longer.
Y/N looked at the door and smiled for a few seconds until she was pulled out of her gaze by her brother.
“Don’t even think about it Y/N.” he said and smacked her shoulder.
Y/N turned around to face the Sergeant and showed the tupperware she was holding in his chest “You left this at home dumbass” she smiled as Miller made a face like it was the most physically hurtful thing anyone has done to him.
Two days later:
Graves was on a mission, not on a real one, but this was as important to him as a real mission would be. He couldn’t keep the beauty out of his head. He made his way to the sleeping quarters looking for Sergeant Miller specifically, when he spotted him across the room laughing with te other he took advantage of who he was.
“Everyone out, Miller you stay here!” Graves shouted as everyone scrambled onto their feet and out of the door with a “Yep-Yep” being heard by all of them.
Miller stood with his hand raised to his forehead waiting for anything to come as Graves’ voice didn’t sound quite pleasant.
“Relax Sergeant i only have a question.” this made Miller visibly relax as he knew he did nothing wrong this time.
“What can i help you with sir?” still being careful.
Graves cleared his throat “.. Is your.. khmm.. sister single by any chance?”

never grow up part nine
summary: after the same back and forth for six months, sunny finally decides its enough, until she's given the same hopeful moment again
part eight
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Chris and I will never see a day where we aren’t best friends. No matter what our relationship or our friendship levels out as, I know he would take a bullet for me, and I can’t imagine a world where I don’t look for him first in a crowded room.
Of all the people I meet in my life, it all goes back to him. Every friend I make, every boy I meet, every person I try to love, they will never be him. It’s not even comparable. It will never be a fair battle. It will always be him.
The last six months have been eventful to say the least.
I turned 22. I celebrated in Boston. Chris wasn’t there. Said something about wanting to come and making an effort to fly back out. Last minute he said he couldn’t because he had to work. I said whatever, got mad for a bit, then got over it and got drunk with my friends.
I drunk called him, weeping some bullshit about how my birthday is never the same when he isn’t with me. Cried over how badly I wished he would move back home. He may have cried a little too, but I was too drunk to notice anything other than the pain in my chest from him being gone and the nausea coursing through my body as I held back every gag.
He apologized profusely, promising that he would make it up to me. The same broken promise I’ve lived with for three years now.
I shouted at him and told him to stop lying to me. He insisted that he was being honest. He promised that things would be different. They never were.
I slept with someone else. Had a short fling with someone that I thought could pull me out of the rut I was in, only to realize it was making me feel worse. Every time we fucked I imagined it was Chris. I then felt like shit because I knew it wasn’t fair to either of them, nor was it fair to me. I couldn’t move on. I was stuck on someone who couldn’t make up his mind.
Chris kept promising that we would end up together. Maybe he was right. I was getting too dizzy and exhausted going around in that whirlwind to even let myself be optimistic about our future.
I can’t keep waiting. I know he’s what I want, but I can’t put my life on hold for someone who isn’t sure of me.
So, I called it quits. Told him straight up, I can’t do it anymore. No more back and forth. We go back to being friends and only friends. I cut the ties that he had knotted between us, forcing us to stay attached no matter how hard we pulled. I always fell to my feet and he dragged me through the fucking dirt and I got up, dusted my pants, and let him do it over again. I took the sharpest scissors I could find and cut it in half, sawed at it until my hands bled, and watched him walk away and leave me behind, because finally, I wasn’t attached anymore.
I’ve managed to be okay with calling him my best friend with no underlying meaning. I’ve buried that higher level of us so low in myself that I can look at him across the country and feel nothing but friendship. I like it that way.
I’m graduating today.
Four years of college, stress, and long nights are over.
I let my mom curl my hair, let her pamper me and make me feel like a kid again before it all flies out the window. She puts gentle braids in my hair and curls the strands that fall down my back. She tells me to pucker my lips, and she swipes lipstick over them, making me feel like a little girl playing in her moms makeup again.
“How excited are you for today?” she asked me with a smile.
I smack my lips together, coating the lipstick over every inch. “More nervous than anything. It’s awkward. I just want to get it over with.”
She frowns at me. “You’ll remember this day forever, I know it,” she promises, and I let her think she’s right.
My mom and dad drove me to my school for graduation. I had one other ticket available, which I extended to Mary Lou, hoping she would make it. I grew up with her like a second mom to me, or maybe an aunt considering how close she is to my mother. Either way, she’s family. Always will be no matter how stupid her son can be at times.
When I sat in a folded chair in the middle of an auditorium and waited for us to line up, I turned around and found an empty seat next to my parents.
I for sure thought she would be here. She never missed an event for me. She was there for every sporting event, every birthday party growing up, everything. She wouldn’t leave me hanging like that.
It was empty when I crossed that stage, and it was empty when I sat back down.
I don’t know why it hurt so bad. Maybe she had something come up. Maybe she got stuck in traffic.
All I knew is that I wanted at least one Sturniolo there. And I kept getting let down.
The long day had finally come to an end, and I searched for my parents in the cattle of students and families trying to find each other after the ceremony.
“At least one of us graduated.”
My feet halted. I froze, not even able to bring myself to turn around and search for the voice that I knew all too well.
“Do you think you could copy that paper?” he asked next. I turned around, and the first thing he did was take the book from my hands. He opened it up and inspected my diploma inside. “My mom would love to have this on her fridge. Oh! By the way. She couldn’t make it, so she sent me instead.”
I swallowed, suddenly nervous, like he wasn’t real.
He grinned at me, the same cheesy, childish, and adorable grin I’ve watched remain the same while the rest of his face aged as we grew older.
“Give me a hug, Sunny,” he sighed. “I just flew the whole day away to be here. Think you can crack my back too? It’s killing me.”
My first instinct was to punch his shoulder, playfully of course. He let out a fake wince before grabbing my arm and pulling me into him.
My head nuzzled into his neck out of instinct. That spot was made for me.
“What are you doing here?” I managed to get out.
He laughed. “What a dumb question. I’m here for you, you goof. You thought I’d miss this?”
I pulled back, looking at him closely, like he was something from a dream. He straightened the cap on my head like he found all of this entertaining. “You weren’t here during the ceremony. I looked for your mom, and the seat was empty.”
“I got here on time. I promise,” he assured me. “I waited up top so you wouldn’t see me until now, but trust me, I got here and saw everything. I have pictures and videos to prove it.”
He pulled his phone out and swiped through his camera roll, which were screenshots of me walking across the stage while the rest of his family watched through FaceTime, cheering me on from home.
My eyes welled up, unsure of my emotions at the moment. All I knew was I was feeling something, and crying seemed like the only logical answer.
He held my chin and pulled me to look at him, wiping my tears once my gaze settled on him.
“I came, Sunshine,” he nodded. “I wouldn’t miss this for the world. You’re my number one girl, always.”
My lip trembled at his promise, seeing that he kept it. He shook his head at me, silently telling me to stop it, that him being here wasn’t supposed to make me upset. He wrapped an arm around me and led me to my parents instead, letting me stand awkwardly in photos with the three of them as they gushed and let out their excitement for me.
We all went to lunch after, nothing fancy, but we were together, and that was enough.
Chris came back to my apartment with me, which was now boxed up as our lease was coming to an end. I managed to find somewhere for us to sit comfortably in the clutter and eat our leftovers for dinner in my home.
We talked about the last six months – our lives, things we’ve done, what we missed out on.
“Did I surprise you?” he smiled.
I nodded. “Yeah, especially since I haven’t heard from you in a week.”
He sighed. “I’m trying, I really am.”
I shrugged, tired of this already. “Can we just drop it?”
“No, we can’t,” he insisted. He grabbed my thighs and turned me towards him, and I hate the way my body sparked when his hands were on me again. “I love you, no matter what, you know this. Stop making me feel like you don’t love me anymore.”
I don’t respond.
“Do you still love me?” he asked, now worried. His face softened enough to prove that.
“You know I do,” I mumbled. “Stop making me say it. It upsets me. It hurts, actually.”
“Well it hurts me that you don’t want to say it to me, because I would do anything to make you know I love you.”
Something in me snaps, because his answer isn’t fully true, and we both know that.
“Then maybe that’s all we know how to do,” I throw at him. “We hurt each other but promise to be with each other somehow for the rest of our lives. And you know what, Chris? I know for a fact I’ll be at your wedding, but the idea of being there in any other dress other than the white one I’ve had picked out since I was twelve keeps me up at night. And the idea of walking down the aisle and not being the one makes you cry makes me fucking vomit. So please, for me, make up your fucking mind. Stop playing these games with me.”
He kisses me after that, and I want to push him off, but my body has a natural reaction to him.
My hands find his cheeks and I pull him closer. My fingers eventually thread through his hair and pull on him until my back is pressed to the tile of the kitchen floor and his hands are on my waist, but we know it can’t go further because there’s nothing sexy about us fucking on my floor with boxes surrounding us.
He pulls back, catches his breath, and says, “No more games.”
I believe him, and I regret how quickly I do. “No more?”
“No more,” he repeats. “You and me. That’s all that matters.”

I have a request if you are interested? :)
A teen!dad jess. He has a best friend from New York (she can have a name or it can be Y/N, you can choose) (they are endgame, jess never had feelings for Rory but she has feelings for Jess, it won't go anywhere) Jess and his best friend have a kid, they co-parent (whether they are dating already or in the future is up to you) Jess gets sent to Stars Hallow, she ends up moving to stars Hallow to, to be close to Jess and so their kid can be with him too (she is emancipated, plus Jess knows she's coming because they keep in contact) if anyone reading this would like to turn this into an actual story, I'm totally down for reading it :) if you choose this request, I look forward to reading it. Thank you!!
hi noonie!! this is my first requests omg wowowow i think this is a great idea! im sorry if its kinda sloppy and not how u wanted! but i hope u enjoyy ! wc: 1.7k also i saw how you said that jess knew she was coming, but whats more fun than a suprise? ;) ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ As your best friend grabbed his bag and walked towards you and your one-year-old son, you forced yourself to keep your composure. You didn't know how you were going to okay without him. You'll still see him when he comes back to visit for holidays and such, but it won't be the same. You didn't want Jess to leave and neither did he, but he had no choice. He walked over to you and S/N. Reaching out for his father, S/N cooed and Jess took him from you. Jess held him preciously like it would be the last time. "Be good for your mom kid." He kissed his head.
He put down S/N into his crib before walking over to you and grabbed both of your hands. "I'm going to call you twice a day. Morning and night, okay? If there's anything you need, I'm there for you." He explained clearly. You nodded your head as you chewed on your lip, unable to form words. You wrapped your arms around his neck in a tight hug. Jess Mariano was your best friend. Having S/N was an accident, but you and Jess both believed that everything happens for a reason, so you kept him. And neither of you regret it. Your relationship is a little odd, but you love him nonetheless. You pulled away and kissed his cheek. "You'll be okay." You whispered, wiping a tear from your cheek. "And so will you, Y/N. You're the strongest person I know." You smiled softly at his words and gave him a picture of the three of you. He grinned and held it tightly. "Don't miss your bus, buddy." You joked. He ruffled your hair and waved goodbye.
A year later, you still feel the same as you did before. You know, the same day the two of you created a child, the same day you gave birth, and the same day he left. And you were panicking. "Oh, S/N, I'm so excited!" You jumped around making S/N giggle. He bounced along with you. "But I'm nervous too. What if he found someone else?" Then you gasped. "What if he cut all of his hair off?" You exaggerated just to see S/N's goofy smile. "This isn't about me though. This is all for you!" You tickled him (ugh, he's so darn cute). You grabbed your luggage, held S/N on your hip, and left the apartment. Stars Hollow was a cute name, you had to admit. You were thrilled to live in a small town! When you arrived, you stepped off the bus and looked around. Just as you imagined, it looked great! But maybe you should’ve told Jess you decided to be spontaneous and move to Connecticut. On the other hand, Jess could be on the verge of dying from boredom, so a surprise is the perfect thing to cheer him up.
“Thoughts, S/N?” You asked, clenching your hand into a fist as a pretend mic to his mouth. Your adorable son stared at you with his gorgeous eyes. Damn he looks just like his mother. Kidding, he’s an exact replica of Jess. Anywho, you accepted his answer and began to explore.
45 minutes later, you realized that you didn’t plan this out well enough like you thought. Even after talking to Jess everyday on the phone for an entire year, you didn’t know where exactly he was located. Fortunately, you took notice that people often went into a cute little diner called “William’s Hardware Store”, so you followed the crowd into the diner a little bit confused because this didn’t look like a hardware store. You walked in and almost immediately, people started turning to look at you. But atleast S/N enjoyed the attention.
You cleared your throat awkwardly and walked over to the stools at the counter and sat next to a girl around your age. You placed S/N in your lap and took in your surroundings. The girl you were sat next to turned around and gave you a bright grin. “Hi! You’re the new girl, aren’t you?” Her voice was sweet like candy (in the best way possible). “That I am! I’m Y/N. And this dude here is S/N.” You grabbed his hand making him give a little wave. She giggled. “Well, it’s nice to meet you, Y/N. And you too, S/N.” She tickled his belly quickly and perked up to you. “I’m Rory!”
You looked to where a boy was coming out of a hidden room and THERE HE WAS IRJAHDJWHS
Thank goodness he didn’t cut all of his hair off. You suddenly felt butterflies in your stomach, which you hated. Rory turned to face where you were looking and scoffed. But he was right out the door as quickly as he came. “Not the best of friends?” You asked, jokingly. “Jess? It's.. kind of weird right now. But yeah, no.” She informed you. You nodded. Weird? Like romantic weird?
“Hey, what can I get you?”
You turned away from Rory and looked in front of you. This looks EXACTLY like who Jess explained to be his uncle, Luke. You remember seeing a sign saying “Luke’s” bellow the hardware store sign. Backwards baseball cap, plaid shirt, scruffy facial hair, this must be him. “This is Luke, Y/N. Luke, Y/N just moved here from.. where?” Rory introduced and then turned to you. “New York.” You replied. “Oh, welcome. What part? My nephew Jess is from New York also.” Luke smiled. “Same as him.” You responded. Rory and Luke looked confused and you felt awkward again. Not the right choice of words.
That was until Luke’s face changed from “what is she talking about?” to “ohhh THAT Y/N!” You're glad you didn't have to explain.
“Y/N! It’s great to meet you! How are you? Is this S/N?” Luke looked below to see S/N’s cute lil chubby face. “Yup, this is him!” You held S/N up higher so Luke could see him better. “Wait you know Jess?” Rory asked. “Father of my kid. It wasn’t planned, but things happen, you know? Anyway, he’s my best friend. We’ve know each other since childhood, actually.” You explained. “Wow, this is amazing! So- so you live here now?” Before you could answer Luke, he rushed up and walked to a phone, dialing a number. “I'm gonna get him to come back right now, don't worry."
“Oh, uh. Well sure, I suppose.” You muttered. “Um, well I have to go home to my mom, but it was great meeting you! See you around!” Rory waved goodbye and left. You mentally smacked yourself on the forehead. You were never good at first impressions, EVER. Just a few seconds after Rory left, the door opened again to reveal a sweaty Jess with a panicked expression. “Where’s the fire? Why’s everyone so calm?” He ran over to Luke. “Here, lemme show you.” Luke placed his hand on Jess’ shoulder and guided him to your seat. You fixed your hair as quickly as possible.
Jess stood and stared. “Wh-What are you doing here?” He brightly smiled. He looked down at S/N, who stared into his eyes. He took him from you and rocked him slowly. “Hey, kid.” Jess kissed S/N’s head. “Hi, Jess.” You spoke shyly.
He then turned his attention back to you. “Hey,” He gazed. You stood up quickly and wrapped your arms around him. Luke took S/N from Jess so he could hug you back fully. “I can’t believe you’re here.” He whispered in your neck. “I missed you.” You told him, pulling away. Although Jess always had trouble expressing his feelings into words, it was a little tense when he didn’t respond back to you.
Luke awkwardly turned to you. “Sorry, Y/N, I gotta get back to work.” He apologized, giving S/N back to you. “It was nice meeting you.” You smiled. He winked and walked back to the kitchen.
"Sooo, how have you been?" You asked, trying to start a conversation while bouncing S/N in your lap. "I've been alright." He put his hands in his pockets and began to speak when a blond chick wrapped her arms around him. "Hey. Where were you? I thought we were gonna go to my place." She prodded. She then turned to face you. "Aw, cute baby."
Of course he had a girlfriend. He was always cool and popular in school, so why wouldn't he be here? You were terribly mistaken to think otherwise. But now you felt a weird pit in your stomach. This was a bad move. You shouldn't have come here. But no, your son needs his father. So, you decide to be brave for S/N.
"Can we do this later?" He mumbled to her. "So you expect me to be okay with this? Ugh, what's the matter with you?" She stormed out of the diner before Jess could respond (not that he wanted to). "Trouble in paradise?" You questioned wholeheartedly. Although you were disappointed, you weren't going let this get in the way of your friendship. He scoffed. "Shane is definitely not my paradise. Look," He got serious for a moment and sat down on a stool next to you. "I'm happy you're here. Really, I am! But you came at a bad time." He told you. "Love triangle?" You joked, thinking back to how Rory said things were weird between them two. "How'd you know?" Jess' eyebrows furrowed. Oh. "Lucky guess." You shrugged. Well, this can't get any better can it? "It was nice seeing you. I should go start unpacking though." You stood up and switched S/N to your other hip. "Listen, let me get things sorted out and I promise I will be with you." He grabbed your hand. "Sorted out? Jess, you shouldn't feel forced to be with me. It's okay, I promise." You tried to reason with him. Why did he make it seem like he had no other option but you? Clearly he has choices.
"No, no. I need to be with you. Remember a few weeks ago when I told you I was gonna go back home?" He asked. You nodded. "That's because I wanted to be with you and my son. But you stopped me and I listened. So, now you're here and I'm gonna be the best damn father I can, alright?" He let go of your hand and ran behind the curtain. All of a sudden, S/N began to cry.
a/n: i'm gonna do a part two dont worryy! im just tired rn but i will try and draft something later tonight and maybe post it tmr xx this was a little hard for me to write since jess would be more mature as a father (atleast i think so) and he wasnt alone like in the show yk? but i had fun nonetheless :)

“Did you ever really love me?”
Tumblr media
Breakups suck. Like, really suck. Seriously, who the hell wants to be sat in their room, watching disney movies in the hopes of cheering themselves up with ice cream in one hand and left over pizza in front of them?
It didn’t help that you saw a future with him. Connor Rhodes, found his way into your heart then decided to rip it out with his bare hands. He said he found someone else, someone that brought him back to life. Some great feelings that stirred up. (That was pure sarcasm by the way.)
No, in reality it felt like he’d taken both your heart and your soul and crumbled it to pieces. Years down the drain. That first year of pining over the slightly older surgeon that you worked closely with followed by the next two years.
Sure you should have seen it coming. Less time spent together and half the time you were together, there were fights speckled in. Over stupid shit. Leaving things around, forgetting to do something, missing a date. It was already being written in stone that you two weren’t going to last but you couldn’t take the signs at face value.
You just loved him so much. Every argument you thought maybe it was just a step to things working out. But it wasn’t. Now you’d spent the week in your apartment, using paid time off to wallow in your own pity.
And tomorrow was going to be your first day back at work. Your first day seeing him since everything happened. You had no idea what the hell you were going to do. Natalie and Will sort of had a plan in place, one they could only do so much about.
“We see him coming and we’ll make sure he asks one of us for help, or if you need a consult we’ll take over when he’s there, easy.” Natalie was proud of her plan, her boyfriend just nodding along knowing that was not how any of that was going to work.
You guys were doctors. It wasn’t like they’d always have time to be a personal block between you and the surgeon. Which was proven true the literal first patient you had. Will and Natalie were actually treated the sibling of the boy you had under your care who needed surgery.
And of course the surgeon in question was none other than Dr. Rhodes. Sure you could be professional but that was also when you completely avoided looking in the dark haired man’s direction. Something that was picked up by and brought up by the boy’s mother.
“Do the two of you have an issue with one another? Because I’d like for my doctors to be able to communicate so that I know my baby is getting the best care there is.” Her arms folded tightly across her chest as your mouth gaped.
Were you supposed to lie? Tell her that you and the man next to you were fine? You could handle him. But as much as you believed that, you couldn’t stop the tears pricking at your eyes when you so much as glanced at the back of his head.
Slightly you cleared your throat. “We’re okay, but uh, if it’ll make you feel better, I can have Dr. Halstead, who’s with your other son, take over here.” You spoke with a faint smile, the mother nodding tightly.
It was obvious she didn’t believe you just as much as you didn’t believe yourself and you didn’t want to make this day any worse for her. “Will, uh, could we switch? Mom’s asking for a different doctor.” She bit at her cheek, the look on her face giving away that that wasn’t the entire story but there was no time to question it.
“Yeah sure, we’re just finishing up his labs here.” Natalie gave you a soft smile as the rest of the shift continued, this time without any hiccups. And crossovers were smoother than that one. And once it was over, you were right back where you were that morning.
Crying on your couch.
Except, about halfway through your rewatch of Dirty Dancing, there was a knock on the front door. You weren’t expecting anybody and when you pulled open the front door, you were staring back at the last person you ever expected to grace your entrance way again.
“Connor?”
He gave a tight smile, sucking in a breath, “Can I come in?” You had to fight to hold back the scoff that nearly came out, raising your eyebrows. Who did he think he was just showing up, a week after you two broke up.
Annoyed, you went to shut the door with a roll of the eye, only stopping when the man grabbed the edge of it. “Y/n, please. Look, I just want to talk okay? We work together for god sakes, you have to learn to at least look me in the eye. Especially if we’re taking care of the same patient.”
As much as you wanted to pretend he was wrong, he wasn’t. Begrudgingly, you stepped aside, letting him come in. It was silent for a couple moments, the man taking in the mess that had fallen upon your apartment.
In all honesty, he wasn’t that aware that the breakup had affected you this much. Obviously he knew you were upset, the lack of your appearance at work was enough proof of that. But seeing the messed up couch, the take out containers and half empty tissue box just put things into perspective.
“Alright, are you going to say something or just judge the state of my house? Because I seriously-”
“Just tell me whatever you’ve been dying to tell me, y/n.” He cut you off, turning his attention back to you fully. “I can tell from the look on your face that you want to say something but you’re not letting yourself, and I know how much stuff like that eats at you.”
You nostrils flared as you looked up at him, “You don’t get to say that you know anything about me anymore Connor. You don’t. Not with all the shit that’s happened.” Your words came out harsher than you meant to and for a second you realized that maybe you did have some choice words for him.
“I’m sorry. I just, I want you to be able to get on with things. Move on, not have to worry about me when you’re at work.”
“I’m always going to Connor! I love you.” Your voice cracked along with the dam that was keeping your tears at bay. “With my entire heart, and you left. So I’m sorry if I can’t just get past that in seven days.” You tightly crossed your arms over your chest, sniffling.
If anything was embarrassing it was crying in front of someone that was the source of the tears streaming down your face. And you hated it. You absolutely despised how he was capable of all these emotions spilling from you and that you couldn’t even keep yourself from showing it.
“You know what. I do have something.” You cleared your throat, the anger fading and bringing back the heaviness in your chest. Connor nodded, gesturing for you to continue, his gaze on you entirely. “Did you ever even love me?”
The softness of the question made Connor’s heart drop, his eyes flicking over your face. The lack of response made you scoff, nodding tightly. “Alright. That’s enough of an answer for me. You can go now.”
“Wait no, I did-”
“Go.” You practically yelled, squeezing your eyes shut and pointing at the door to your left. “And don’t try to talk to me again unless it’s work related.” The sound of the door opening and shutting was all you heard before you let yourself crumple onto the couch, crying until you couldn’t cry anymore.

Pairing: jaemin x reader Genre: friends to lovers!au, slow burn, angst, fluff, suggestive Warnings: swearing, alcohol consumption, implied sex, mentions of throwing up, Haechan is an asshole, slapping Words: 11,136
Life is unpredictable. You never know what is going to happen, whether it be the future or the present day, and that’s in both negative and positive situations. Life can go one of two ways: you try your best and work to the best of your ability, getting your dream job and living your best life with your loved ones. Maybe have a significant other and get married, have children (whether that’d be adopt or make your own).
Or life can go horribly wrong. You don’t try and end up becoming this really shut off person to the world, constantly feeling worried about everything and not sure what to do with your life, so you end up turning to doing drugs to take the edge off, or drinking alcohol every night, waking up the next morning not being able to remember what you did due to getting wasted.
You never know the people who you meet in your life will be your best friend, your acquaintance, or your worst enemy. In this case, the brown haired 4 year old with chubby cheeks will, hopefully, end up being your best friend for life.
You saw the boy sitting in a sandbox, waddling your small self over to him. He had a bucket and spade, shovelling some sand into said bucket. It looked like he was trying to make a sandcastle, so you were careful not to scare him.
The young boy felt someone in his presence, lifting his tiny head up to see a young girl with chubby cheeks and big eyes, who looked around the same age as him. He gave a big smile, like his mom told him to whenever he saw someone approach him. He smiled cutely, showing his teeth. You smiled back at him as you waved, introducing yourself in your small, high pitched voice.
The boy in front of you introduced himself as Na Jaemin, his cute high pitched voice ringing in your ears. He let you join him in the sandbox, moving your little legs into the box, sitting beside him. While everyone else was playing in the playground, you and your new friend were by yourselves, playing in said sandbox, trying to make sand castles.
You went home that day telling your mum about the nice boy you met, getting all excited about your new friend. Your mum smiled down at you, seeing you all happy. You were excited to hang out with your new friend when you go to school tomorrow, and for the future days ahead.
As you grew older and you hit the age of 12, you and Jaemin were finally both neighbours. You used to live a few minutes away from each other, but his family ended up moving right next door, which you absolutely loved. You went to the same middle school, catching the bus together, both of your mums seeing you two off each morning.
You were never seen without the other, unless you were home. Then again, you’d hang out after school too. Sometimes, you’d even have dinner together at each other's houses. Like for example, every Saturday, you either go to Jaemin’s house or Jaemin goes to your for dinner, and it rotates every week.
As you got older and got through high school, your mental health decreased due to exams and stress, and it put you into depression. Luckily Jaemin was there to help you. He didn’t really care about his own mental health since he cared more about you than anything else. Whenever you were having a breakdown, Jaemin was there. When you couldn’t handle studying and just wanted to get away, Jaemin was there, and he would take you somewhere quiet. You were thankful for Jaemin during that time in high school, and he was thankful for you too, but you never actually told each other that, but you didn’t need to.
As you both hit 18 and you were in your last year of high school, you couldn’t be happier. You couldn’t wait to graduate and apply for your university of choice, and hopefully get your dream job. Jaemin, however, wasn’t as excited as you. You could tell the moment you stepped out of your house one morning and saw him.
It was a warm, breezy Saturday morning during the middle of March and you were going to spend the day with Jaemin, as usual. You skipped out of the house, a smile on your face. That smile soon faded as soon as you saw Jaemin, who had a small frown on his face.
“What’s with the frown?”, you asked as soon as you were standing in front of him, Jaemin’s hands in his pockets. “Oh it’s nothing”, he said, not sounding convincing, making you frown. “Come on, you know you can tell me, you know? It’s obviously something since it has you frowning”, you said as you were walking along the pavement. Jaemin sighed because he knows you’re right.
“It’s just… it’s our last year in high school and, what if we don’t end up in the same university? What if I never see you again? You’re literally the only friend I’ve ever had and I don’t want that to end”, Jaemin said, his voice sounding sad. It looked like he was about to cry so you didn’t even think before you hugged him, startling him. But he didn’t push you away. In fact, he brought you closer as he ended up crying into the crook of your neck.
You stayed like that for a while, just standing there while Jaemin cried. His crying finally ceased, sniffles escaping him. He lifted his head from your neck and looked at you, his bottom lip quivering a bit. “You ok, now?”, you asked him, to which he nodded his head. “Whatever happens in the future, we won’t lose contact, ok? Remember the promise we both made?”, you said as you put your pinky out, making him smile.
He linked your pinkies together and said, “best friends forever”, and you both giggled. “Whether we both go to the same university, or different ones, I won’t forget you. You’re too cute to forget”, you said without thinking, making Jaemin blush. “Y-you think I’m cute?”he asked as you widened your eyes. “I uh- bye”, you said as you ran off, Jaemin running after you.
The day went on as normal, the incident of calling Jaemin cute long forgotten. You did nothing extreme, just went to the park and talked about anything that came to your mind. You have other friends, but none of them make you laugh or smile as much as Jaemin.
It was graduation day, and you were feeling nervous, yet excited. You were in the middle of getting yourself ready, your outfit laid out on your bed. You were sitting at your vanity table, putting makeup on when you heard a knock at your door. You gave the person a signal that they could come in, and the door opened, revealing Jaemin. He was dressed in a simple black suit, and his pink hair was slicked back. You would be lying if you didn’t think he looked handsome because honestly, when you saw him, your breath hitched.
You didn’t realise you were staring until you heard a chuckle, making you come out of your trance. “You were staring. You think I’m attractive or something?”Jaemin smirked at you, wiggling his eyebrows, earning a scoff from you. “No, I just have never seen you in a suit before”, you said. You weren’t lying, you’ve never seen him in a suit before. You did find him attractive but if you told Jaemin that, you’d never hear the end of it.
You continued doing your makeup as Jaemin sat on your bed, making sure not to sit on your clothes. He noticed the black dress lying on your bed, along with your black heel. “Have we unintentionally matched our clothes?”, Jaemin asked as he let out a chuckle, looking at you as you did your makeup. You then realised what he just said: you both are wearing all black to your graduation.
“I swear I didn’t stalk you, I just love wearing black”, you said, still focusing on doing your eyeliner. “Babes, I’m messing with you”, Jaemin laughed, the sudden pet name leaving his mouth. That gave you butterflies in your stomach for some reason, but you didn’t think much of it.
You were finally done getting yourself ready, slipping on your black heels. You looked at yourself in the mirror and made sure you were happy with how you looked. You smiled and turned around, grabbing your graduation hat and robes, which were ironically black too. They weren’t all black though. They had stripes of red along the seams.
You both finally left to go to your graduation, Jaemin driving you both to the school. Luckily it was only a 10 minute drive, so you didn’t need to rush. Besides, the graduation doesn’t actually start for another 30 minutes, but it’s good to be there early.
As soon as you arrived, Jaemin parked the car and you both got out. You both walked towards the school side by side, people’s eyes on you. Whenever people saw you together, they thought you were a couple with how close you were, but you always told them that you’re best friends, nothing more.
Jaemin had his camera around his neck, you remember his words a few days ago that he ‘wanted to take pictures because it would be a nice memory’. The camera was given to him by his mum for his 17th birthday, and he was over the moon with it. She remembered hearing him mention something along the lines of wanting to start doing photography, and that gave her the idea of buying him a camera.
You walked into the school, seeing your other school friends all dressed up too. You smiled as you walked over to them, Jaemin walking to a different group of people to say hello. You greeted them with a smile, creating small talk before the graduation event starts.
You spoke to them for about 10 minutes, before meeting up with Jaemin again and heading towards where the graduation ceremony was being held. You went inside the hall where everyone else was going, and sat down in your designated seats. Luckily your seats were next to each other, which made you happy.
The ceremony went smoothly. Everyone got awarded a certificate for different subjects and clubs they participated in. Jaemin got awarded in performing arts and music, whereas you got awarded in English Literature.
After you all got your certificates and celebrated by throwing your hats in the air, you went and chatted with your friends and your parents both congratulated you on graduating high school. They both hugged you and, without your knowledge, Jaemin took a picture on his camera. He thought you looked really cute, with your big smile and your robes on.
Throughout the rest of the graduation ceremony, Jaemin took lots of pictures on his camera, but they were mainly of you. Some candid pictures which he would treasure for the rest of his life. He hopes that you two would be by each other's side until you grow old, not wanting to let you out of his life. You’re too precious to him for him to let you leave. He hopes that you feel the same way.
A few days later, you and Jaemin are sitting outside your house, holding an envelope in your hands. The envelope will determine whether or not you have gotten into your dream university.
“You first”, Jaemin said, nodding towards the envelope in your hands. You opened it carefully, before pulling out the piece of paper that was inside. You glanced at it, and your eyes lit up. “I GOT IN”, you squealed out of joy, and hugged Jaemin. He hugged you back tightly, happy that you got in.
“Open yours now, I wanna know if you got in or not”, you jumped up and down impatiently. Jaemin opened the envelope and pulled out the piece of paper. He looked at it and frowned. You saw him frowning, and felt yourself tearing up, preparing for the worst.
“Oh no”, Jaemin sighed, and you felt your heart break. “I guess you’re going to have to put up with me a little while longer”, Jaemin smirked as he teased you, earning a light hit on his chest. “Yah, don’t do that”, you said, pretending to be mad at him. Jaemin could see right through you though as he softly smiled at you.
You hugged him tightly, glad that you’re going to the same university. You suddenly felt yourself start to cry out of happiness, crying into his shoulder. Jaemin then felt himself start to cry too, crying with you. You stayed like that for a while, just crying with each other. Both of your parents came out of the house, seeing the both of you crying.
They were both about to ask you if you were ok, until you pulled away from each other and they saw your smiles. They immediately knew what that meant, feeling happy for the both of you.
For the next few weeks, you put all your things in boxes ready to go to university. Clothes, makeup, books, all your necessities. If you end up forgetting something, you could always just buy something from a shop nearby the university building.
It’s finally the day that you and Jaemin leave for university, and both of your parents are crying. They mention how much they are going to miss you and that they hope you enjoy your time at university. Thankfully Jaemin’s car is big enough to fit all your stuff in so you put both yours and Jaemin stuff in the trunk of the car, and some in the backseat. You both got in the car, and waved goodbye to yours and Jaemin’s parents, the sound of their voices getting quieter as Jaemin drove off.
The journey from Jeonju-si to Seoul is just over 2 hours, so you left pretty early in the morning to ensure you got there on time. Throughout the journey, you and Jaemin jammed out to music on the radio, turning the music up loud. You had snacks to snack on during the journey so you wouldn’t need to buy any food along the way.
You finally arrived, the university building coming into view. You got excited, a huge smile on your face. Jaemin found a place to park his car and stopped the engine. You both got out and went inside the university building, seeing other students congregating together.
The whole day was just spent going round the building, a woman who looked like she was in her mid 30’s showing you where different rooms were, and where you needed to be for your specific course. You were going to be an English major, while Jaemin was doing performing arts and music, which were thankfully in the same building as each other.
You were shown to your dormitory, and you looked around your dorm room. It was bigger than you expected it to be, and it felt nice and cosy. As you were looking round the room, the door suddenly opened, startling you. You turned around and saw a girl who looked your age, her dark brown hair tied up in a ponytail. She seemed nice but only one way to find out if she is, is by talking to her.
“Hello, you must be my roommate. I’m y/n”, you said as you put your hand out, waiting for her to shake it. She stared at your hand for a moment, which made you feel awkward so you retracted your hand back. “I don’t do handshakes, I’m more comfortable with hugs. Are you ok with hugs? I’ve been told that I’m huggable”, she said, which made you smile. You’re glad that she loves hugs because you’re the same.
You hugged her and she wrapped her arms around you and she was absolutely right. The hug felt really warm and you felt comfortable. You pulled away from her and took a step back. “I’m Yeji”, she said with a smile. You hope that you two will be really good friends during your time in university.
In the boys dormitory, Jaemin looked around his room and was waiting for his roommate. The door suddenly opened and in came a boy who looked around his age. He had a mole under his eye and he had a sharp jaw. Jaemin was starstrucked seeing this individual, and he was kind of awkward when meeting new people for the first time so he didn’t think when the next few words came out of his mouth.
“You remind me of a samoyed”
Jaemin’s eyes widened as soon as he realised the words that left his mouth and he felt embarrassed. Luckily though, the boy in front of him thought that was cute and he smiled. His eyes turned into crescents as he made the cutest eye smile ever.
“I’ve actually heard that a lot”, the boy said, making Jaemin look at him. “I’m Jeno by the way”, Jeno said with a smile. Jaemin notices that Jeno is literally the human embodiment of the sun, since he’s glowing, the sun coming in through the window and hitting his face.
“I’m Jaemin”, Jaemin replied back with a soft smile. He got more and more comfortable with Jeno the more they spoke, hoping they would be friends for a really long time. They both left their room to go and collect their things, getting to know each other more along the way.
You and Yeji also did the same, leaving your rooms and heading down together. You realised just how funny Yeji is as Yeji made y/n laugh without even trying, a huge smile on their faces. You reached Jaemin’s car and you smiled when you saw him taking his stuff out, grabbing your stuff from the back seat.
You’re not sure how long it took you to bring all your stuff to your dorm room, but you’re glad that everything is now in the room. You sighed and sat on your bed, before lying down. You would put your things away once you’ve had a rest, but also making sure that you don’t fall asleep in the process.
The first few weeks of university were easy. They were basically just introducing you to your course and preparing you for what you were going to expect to learn, and so on. You were glad that you didn’t go straight into the course since it was all new to you, so you felt less stressed about everything.
Well, they say that the more you progress, the tougher something becomes. And they were right.
You’re now in your third year of university, and you’ve not long turned 21. Jaemin threw you a surprise birthday party, and Yeji and Jeno were there, along with other people who you have spoken to. To say you got drunk would be an understatement. You got so wasted, you couldn’t even walk in a straight line. You were thankful that Jaemin and Yeji helped you back to your dorm. Once you were in your dorm room, you immediately went to the bathroom and threw your guts up.
You don’t even know how long you were throwing up for, but it felt like an eternity. Yeji rubbed your back up and down, moving your hair out of the way. You eventually finished throwing your guts up and brushed your teeth, then drank a full glass of water and took some painkillers. You didn’t even bother getting changed as you flopped on your bed and immediately fell asleep.
When you woke up, your head was killing you as you winced in pain. You realised you were in different clothes from the night before. You also found out that you didn’t have any makeup on anymore.
“Good morning, sleepyhead. Here’s a glass of water along with some painkillers for your headache”, Yeji said as she gave you the water and the pills. You put the pills in your mouth and took a big gulp of water, swallowing the pills. After finishing the glass of water, you noticed a bouquet of roses in a vase on the window sill, the red catching your eye.
Yeji looked at where you were looking and smiled. “They’re from Jaemin. He called me as soon as you fell asleep and gave them to me. Said he wanted to give them to you after the party, but you were too wasted”, Yeji said as she giggled. You mentioned in your first year of university that your favourite flower was roses.
You also thought that someone else might have found out about that as, every Valentine’s Day during your time at university, you received roses from a secret admirer, which you thought nothing of. That was until Valentine's in your third year though. A random boy with honey skin and moles on his neck gave you a rose, smiled and ran away from you. You thought it was cute and kept the rose, but you didn’t see him the rest of the day. Hell, you didn’t even know his name.
“What time is it?”, you asked as soon as you got up, trying to find your phone. You looked everywhere, being unable to find it, until Yeji handed it to you. “It’s 10am”, Yeji said casually, making you widen your eyes. “And you didn’t bother waking me up?”, you said feeling rather annoyed, but Yeji just shrugged her shoulders.
“You looked peaceful so I didn’t want to wake you up. Plus we don’t have lectures until 1pm”, Yeji said, making you sigh out of relief. You were worried that you ended up missing your morning lectures, until Yeji reminded you that you have afternoon lectures on Thursdays.
“What do you want to do before lectures start? Because there’s this really cool cafe that’s just opened near campus and I want to check it out”, you said as you entered the bathroom, going to do your usual morning routine.
Since it was warm outside, you opted for a cute blouse and a pair of shorts. You put some light makeup on and put your hair into a ponytail. You grabbed your purse, phone and keys, and left your dorm room, Yeji following behind you.
Luckily the cafe was within walking distance so you didn’t need to get the bus. Plus it was a nice day out so the walk was nice. You reached the cafe, opening the door. The little bell rang, making your presence known throughout the cafe.
You looked around the cafe, seeing a couple of people scattered around throughout the cafe. University students drinking their drink of choice as they type away on a laptop, a young couple sitting in a corner holding hands while smiling at each other, a frantic looking businessman who looks like he’s on the verge of a breakdown as he quickly types something on his laptop. Apart from that, it was rather quiet since it’s midmorning.
You both went up to the counter and the barista took your orders, grabbed a breakfast sandwich as you both paid for your orders, and went to sit down near the window. You both started eating your sandwiches, making sounds of content as the taste of bacon and egg hit your taste buds.
As you took another bite, the sound of the barista announcing that your orders were ready, Yeji getting up to collect them, thanking the barista and heading back to your table, giving you your drink. You finished chewing the food in your mouth, swallowing it before taking a sip of your iced coffee. The caramel iced coffee hits your taste buds, making you smile in content.
You finished eating the rest of your sandwich, shoving the rest of it in your mouth. The sound of the bell rang, indicating that someone else came into the cafe. You turned around, your cheeks full as you chewed the rest of your sandwich, and your eyes widened as you saw who walked in. You nearly choked on your food, but thankfully stopped yourself.
The honey skin, the noticeable moles on his neck. He was wearing all black and his hair was fluffy and messy. It was the same guy who gave you a rose on Valentine’s Day. You didn’t realise you were staring until the guy looked at you, giving you a smirk and a wink, making you turn around.
“He’s the same guy who gave me a rose on Valentine’s Day. Only, he was shy then. He seems different now”, you said, now looking at Yeji. “That’s him?”Yeji said as she pointed at said guy. You nodded and she sighed, sitting back in her chair. You looked at her confused, wondering what the sigh was about.
“That’s Lee Haechan. He used to be this sweet, nice guy. That was before his ex broke his heart, and now he’s kind of a heartbreaker. He’s a massive flirt”, Yeji says, you turning around to look at him again, seeing him collecting his drink and paying the barista.
He looked at you before leaving, giving you a cheeky smirk and winked at you again, and left the cafe. You know you should listen to what Yeji said, Haechan being a heartbreaker and a massive flirt. But you just can’t help the butterflies in your stomach. You’ve never felt like this before. Well, if you’re going to be honest, you have felt like this before, but you sort of pushed that at the back of your mind since you’re sure that the person doesn’t like you back, so you forgot about those feelings.
You and Yeji both left the cafe, heading back to your dormitory. You drank the rest of your iced coffee, the breeze hitting your face. You couldn’t seem to take Haechan off your mind, no matter how hard you tried.
You reached your dormitory, heading up to your dorm room to collect your things you needed for your afternoon lectures. You made sure you had everything before leaving, locking the door behind you.
You reached your class, going inside the room and sitting in your designated seat. Yeji sat beside you and got her stuff out, following suit. You were a bit early so you just had a casual conversation. You mentioned how Jaemin texted you before, asking you if you wanted to hang out after your classes.
You notice someone else walking into the class, and you froze. It was Haechan. He’s the same major as you? Why haven’t you seen him in your classes before?
Throughout the lesson, you kept looking over at Haechan, not paying attention to the teacher. You were in a daydream, staring at him. Yeji noticed you staring at him so she nudged you in the side, making you look at her. She mouthed something to you along the lines of ‘stop staring at him’ and you just denied it, even though you were basically caught staring at him.
After 3 long hours, the lecture was finally over. You packed up your stuff and headed out the classroom and texted Jaemin that you’re on your way to meet him. As you sent the text, you accidentally bumped into someone. You looked up and saw the one person who wouldn’t leave your mind. Lee Haechan. He was smirking down at you before he picked up your phone, giving it back to you. You didn’t even realise you dropped it.
“Be careful, doll”, his voice was soft and put you in a trance, wanting to listen to his voice all day long. “Sorry”, you said quietly, but still loud enough for him to hear you. He was only a few inches taller than you, but you still felt intimidated by him for some reason. That was until his usual smirk turned into a smile. His smile was so beautiful and contagious, you felt yourself smiling back at him.
Outside, Jaemin was waiting for you to come out, sitting on a bench. He sat there for a few minutes, checking his phone every now and then. He soon saw you walking out, smiling to himself. That was until he saw you walking with someone he heard bad stories about. The stories about how, after he was heartbroken by his ex, he turned into a heartbreaker and broke girls (and boys) hearts.
You saw Jaemin and bid your goodbyes to Haechan, running over to Jaemin. The first thing he asked you when you reached him was, “why were you with Haechan? He’s a heartbreaker”.
“He’s not that bad. He’s actually really sweet”, you reassured Jaemin and his worries, telling him that you’ll be ok and he won’t hurt you. The subject was then dropped and Jaemin asked you where you wanted to go to hang out, but your next words made him frown.
“Actually uhm, I was wondering if we could rain check? I know this is all so sudden but, Haechan asked me if I wanted to get a coffee with him and talk about this project we have to do for English”, you said, your voice full of guilt. You really wanted to hang out with Jaemin but Haechan insisted that you talk about the English project you have to do.
Jaemin put on a fake smile and told you it’s fine, you hugging him before running off to Haechan again. He saw you two walking off campus, a frown on his face. He then texted Jeno asking him if he was free, which luckily he was, so he asked him if he wanted to hang out instead.
-------------------------------
You and Haechan were sitting opposite each other in a coffee shop, debating what topics you should do for your English project. You sipped on your drink as Haechan rambled on. “I think the topic of how gender roles are portrayed in novels sounds really interesting, so I think I might do that one”, Haechan finished rambling on as he took a sip of his drink, the iced chocolate drink hitting the back of his throat.
“I don’t know, I kind of like the historical sides of novels and what types of themes are used in them”, you said, Haechan nodding at you. You carried on talking about the English project for a bit longer, wanting to ensure you were both certain on the topics you chose for the project.
You then talked about something else, wanting to get to know more about Haechan. You found out that he loves skateboarding and watching horror movies, and that he hates coffee. You realised just how funny and sweet he is, you don’t see a heartbreaker at all in front of you. In the short amount of time you’ve been with him, you’ve fallen for him. Hard. And you don’t want to get up.
-------------------------------
Over the next couple of weeks, you’ve drifted away from Jaemin as you hung out with Haechan more. He even asked you out, to which you said yes. Even Yeji noticed how distant you’ve become, spending less time in your dorm and more time with Haechan. The times that you are in your dorm though, you only talk about Haechan and how much of a sweetheart he is.
Well, that whole ‘sweetheart’ act began to change after your second month of dating. You saw all the changes in his demeanour, the once sweet guy was replaced with a cold and hurtful man. You literally had to tell him where you were going, even if it was just to go to the shops, scared that Haechan would find out and end up hurting you. He hasn’t hurt you physically, it was mainly verbal or mental.
Though, this time, you forgot to tell him where you were going, your stress making you forget. You were craving chocolate so you headed to the nearest convenience store, wrapping yourself up in your coat since it was a cold, winter evening. You headed inside, going towards where the chocolate and sweets were. You looked at the different chocolate bars, finally choosing your favourite one as soon as you found it. You also bought yourself a bottle of wine, hoping to share it with Yeji. You feel really guilty for being distant lately, so you wanted to have a drink with her.
You headed to the counter and paid for the items. The cashier put your items in a bag for you and you grabbed the bag off them, thanking them before leaving again. You walked back outside into the cold, heading back towards your dorm.
As you got near your dorm, you saw Haechan and panic rose up inside you. You realised that you forgot to tell him where you were going, and now you were going to suffer the consequences. Unfortunately there was no one else about, it was just you two, so you had to deal with whatever was going to happen to you.
“I’ve been calling you and you didn’t answer. Why didn’t you tell me where you were going? You were supposed to tell me, remember? Or are you just that stupid, you fucking forgot? Huh? Answer me!”, Haechan said rather loudly, but not shouting, as he ended up gripping your hair.
“I-i’m sorry, I’ve just been so stressed lately, I forgot. I won’t do it again, I promise”, you winced as his grip got tighter. He soon let go of you, and you sighed out of relief. But that relief soon went as you felt a stinging sensation across your cheek. Haechan had slapped you.
You held your cheek, tears welling up in your eyes as you stared at Haechan. You didn’t even recognise him anymore. The sparkle had gone from his eyes, his smile was no longer there and his warm heart had turned to stone. He was a completely different person, and you hated him.
Haechan just left you there, heading back to his dorm room, his silhouette disappearing into the distance. You ran towards your dorm building, going inside. The warmth hit your face, stinging your now reddened cheek. You headed towards the elevator, pressing the button. You waited for the doors to open as tears rolled down your cheeks.
The doors opened with a ping, alerting you as you got inside. You pressed the button to go to your floor as the doors closed. You were a sobbing mess as you leaned against the wall. Though when the doors opened again, you composed yourself and pretended you weren’t just crying your eyes out, heading towards your dorm room.
You fumbled with your keys, eventually putting them into the keyhole. You unlocked the door, shutting the door as soon as you were inside. You rested your head against the door, finally able to catch your breath.
“y/n?”, Yeji said, her voice coming from behind you. You put a fake smile on your face before turning around. “Hey Yeji. I went to the shops to buy myself some chocolate since I was craving some. I also bought a bottle of wine as an apology for me being distant lately”, you said as you took your coat and shoes off, hung your coat up and put your shoes on the shoe rack. You put your slippers on and walk past Yeji, walking into the kitchen.
Yeji stood next to you and stared at you, making you feel uncomfortable. You were about to tell her to stop until her words made you freeze. “What happened to your cheek?”, she asked. You stuttered for a moment before you made up an excuse. “I hit my cheek against a door as I opened it”, you replied, hoping you sounded believable.
Yeji gave you a look, but didn’t say anything. You put your chocolate in the fridge (you prefer your chocolate cold) and Yeji got two wine glasses out of the cupboard. You both sat down, pouring the wine into the two glasses.
Yeji was talking about something but you couldn’t focus. You kept thinking about what happened before with Haechan, and how scared you were at that moment. You wanted to end the relationship before it got worse, but you were scared. What if Haechan hurts you really badly? What if he doesn’t let you leave? What if-
“y/n!”, Yeji said, shaking your shoulder. You snapped out of your daze, looking at her. “Huh?”, you said confusedly, looking round the room for no reason. “You zoned out. Are you sure you’re ok?”, she asked as she looked at you, running a hand up and down your arm to try and calm you down.
You then felt yourself crying, the empty wine glass now on the table as you curled up into a ball in your seat. Yeji’s eyes widened as she put her glass down, going over to you and wrapping her arms around you. The both of you stayed like that for about 5 minutes, making sure you calmed down before she spoke again.
“You want to tell me what’s wrong? And where that mark on your cheek really came from?”, Yeji said, fearing for what the answer was going to be. “I went to the store to get some chocolate and wine, like I told you before. But, uhm, I’m supposed to tell Haechan where I’m going every time I go out but this time, I forget. And when I’m near the dorms, I see him”, you explained, feeling yourself about to cry again. Yeji comforted you and told you to carry on.
“He yelled at me and called me stupid for forgetting and then he slapped me”, you said, feeling Yeji’s grip on your arm getting tighter. Yeji felt anger bubbling up inside her, wanting Haechan to pay for what he did to you. “Does Jaemin know anything about this?”Yeji asked you. You shook your head, having been too scared to say anything to Jaemin, just in case Haechan finds out and does something drastic.
“We need to tell him. And I’m going to pay that bastard a visit. No one, and I mean NO ONE, puts their hands on any of my friends”, Yeji said as she got up, but you stopped her. “No please. Please don’t. I don’t want you getting hurt”, you pleaded, wanting her to sit back down. She listened to you and sat back down, holding your hand, squeezing it.
“I’m going to meet up with Haechan tomorrow and try to break up with him. I can’t do this anymore. I’m tired”, you said as your eyes started to flutter close, tiredness coming over you. Yeji got you up and made sure you didn’t fall as she helped you towards your bed. You got changed into your pyjamas and headed into bed, almost falling asleep straight away.
As soon as you fell asleep, Yeji tucked you into bed and got ready for bed herself. She had younger siblings who she looked after when her parents weren’t home due to work, so her parental instincts kick in automatically. She laid down, staring up at the ceiling, her anger still there as she thinks about what she’s going to do to Haechan when she sees him.
-------------------------------
It was a cold Saturday afternoon, and Jaemin walked along the pavement, his camera in his hand as Jeno walked next to him. They were talking about nonsense, mainly about how they hated the cold weather and wanted the warmer weather to come sooner.
Jaemin took pictures on his camera, admiring the scenery around him. He took some funny pictures of Jeno now and then, catching him off guard. Since it had been snowing, Jeno accidentally slipped on a bit of ice, Jaemin taking a picture of him mid fall. He couldn’t help it, he just looked really funny. He did help him up though. After laughing for a good few minutes.
They saw a fountain in the distance, and saw two people standing near it. Jaemin looked through his camera and zoomed in. He realised it was Haechan and y/n. He put his camera down and frowned, which Jeno noticed. Jeno saw where Jaemin was looking, and saw why he frowned.
They thought you and Haechan were having a normal conversation, but that’s not what you were having. You were actually trying your hardest not to break down in public, since there were other people around you. You took in a deep breath and the seven words finally left your mouth.
“I want to break up with you”
Jaemin and Jeno continued looking at you and Haechan, and were about to leave. That was until Jaemin saw Haechan lift his hand up, and hit you across the face. He hit you once, twice, three times across the face. Jaemin and Jeno ran over to you and Jeno grabbed Haechan, tackling him to the ground. Jaemin held you as you cried into his chest, holding you gently. People were looking at the commotion, wondering whether to help or not.
Jeno lifted Haechan up off the ground, gripping his arms. “Don’t even think about touching her ever again, otherwise you’ll suffer the consequences. Actually, you’re going to suffer the consequences right now. How about you get charged for domestic abuse, huh? What kind of person do you have to be to do that to your own partner? You fucking disgusting bitch”, Jeno spat, threatening to take Haechan to the police.
Haechan just shrugged him off and walked off, people giving him dirty looks. Jeno looked at you as you were clinging on to Jaemin for your dear life, crying into his chest. Jaemin was sitting on the floor, not caring about the ice or snow, he only cared about you.
“I-i’m sorry”, you managed to say through your tears, gripping onto Jaemin’s coat. He looked at you confused, wondering why you were apologising. “It’s my fault that this happened. I should have listened to you b-but I didn’t and I got myself hurt”, you cried even harder, finding it hard to breathe.
Jaemin held your face in his hands gently, making you look at him. He breathed in and out, hoping you would copy him, which you did. Your breathing went back to normal after a couple of minutes, your tears stopped.
“Don’t say that, ok? It’s not your fault”, Jaemin said, bringing you in for a hug, wrapping his arms around you. You reciprocated the hug, snuggling into him. Jeno stood there looking at you two, and he smiled, knowing that you’re not with that asshole anymore. Though it’s going to take you a while to get back to your happy self, and they are going to stick with you no matter what.
-------------------------------
It took you around a month and a half until you were smiling again. Not faking a smile, but smiling for real. You were still hurting though, but you had your friends by your side to help you.
It was coming up to Valentine’s Day and you were hoping you weren’t going to receive anything from him. You were dreading it and you didn’t want to run into him again. You haven’t seen him since that day, which you were glad about, but you still get paranoid that he will turn up again and ruin your life.
You finished your morning lectures and had the rest of the day off, so you texted Jaemin asking him if he was free and wanted to hang out. You were walking with Yeji, talking about nothing in particular. Your phone dinged, indicating that you got a reply back. Your smile that was on your face disappeared as you saw his text.
Unfortunately he wasn’t free. He mentioned that he’s been talking with someone from his class, and they have a date. You weren’t the jealous type, but something inside you twisted as you felt your heart drop.
Yeji saw the change in your mood, and took a glance at your phone. She felt sorry for you and had an idea. Whenever you’re in a shitty mood, she always takes you shopping since that seems to cheer you up 9 times out of 10. You liked the idea of going shopping so you agreed immediately. You both walked out of the building and walked off campus, heading towards the nearest bus stop.
-------------------------------
You spent the rest of the day shopping, forgetting about the fact that Jaemin is going on a date. You bought some cute clothes, and some new heels which you fell in love with the moment you saw them.
You were currently sitting on a bench, Yeji opposite you, as you munched on some food you bought. Yeji was telling you about a guy that she’s been talking to and hopefully will be seeing more of. You felt really happy for her, seeing her smiling over someone. She mentioned his name, Renjun you think his name was, and the way she was talking about him was really cute.
You took a bite of your jam doughnut, relishing in the taste. You swallowed the piece of doughnut, about to take another bite, until you saw Jaemin and the girl he was on a date with, and your heart stopped.
The girl he was on a date with was beautiful. Her long dark hair, her amazing figure, her perfect skin. You stopped eating your doughnut and just stared at it. You’ll admit, you're not the skinniest but you’ve never been insecure about your figure or appearance. You’ve always been rather confident about yourself but now, you’re not so sure.
Yeji saw the change in your mood, and looked over to see Jaemin with some girl. You felt yourself tearing up and a few tears fell down your face. “Ok that’s it, let's go”, Yeji said as she stood up, finishing her food and grabbed the bags of stuff she bought. You didn’t say anything as you put the rest of your food in the bin, and grabbed your own bags.
You followed Yeji, not knowing where she was going, but you didn’t really care, you just wanted to get away. Yeji has something in mind, which she hopes you’ll like. She knows you like plushies (since you have a couple on your bed) so she was going to buy you one.
You continued following Yeji, your mind still distracted. You walk for a few more minutes until you realise where Yeji has taken you. You saw a big shop which was full of plushies and you then looked at Yeji with big eyes. She smiled at you and nodded for you to go inside. You rushed inside and looked at all the cute plushies.
You looked at all the plushies in the store, not knowing which one you were going to pick. You already had a penguin plush, a bunny, a puppy and a bear. You soon saw a baby chick plushie, the massive yellow plush catching your attention. You headed towards it and picked it up, hugging it to your chest. Yeji saw you hugging the plush, and said she would pay for it for you, saying it was ‘her treat and you deserve to be happy’.
For the rest of the day, you just walked around before deciding to head back to campus, the both of you feeling tired. You headed towards the bus stop, waiting for the bus to arrive. Luckily it arrived a few minutes later and you both got on, scanning your tickets and sitting down.
-------------------------------
Back in your dorm room, you put your bags on the floor and threw yourself on your bed. You laid down, staring at the ceiling, and started thinking about Jaemin. Are your feelings for him starting to resurface? You couldn’t keep it to yourself anymore, so you thought it would be best to tell Yeji about it.
“Yeji, can I tell you something?”, you asked, looking over at Yeji. She looked up from her phone and a ‘hmm’ sound left her mouth. “I think my feelings for Jaemin are resurfacing and I’m scared”, you confessed, now sitting up. Yeji’s eyes widened at your confession, putting her phone down.
“Why are you scared?”Yeji asked, all of her focus now on you. You took a deep breath before continuing. “What if Jaemin doesn’t feel the same way? I mean, he’s on a date with that beautiful, perfect girl he was with today, so I’m pretty sure he doesn’t like me in that way. Have you seen me?”, your insecurities were playing up now as you felt yourself about to break down into tears.
Yeji was now sitting next to you as she made you look at her. “Hey, you are beautiful in your own way. You don’t need to change for anyone, let alone Jaemin. So don’t think like that”, Yeji said softly but sternly, a single tear rolling down your cheek. You wiped it away as you nodded at her words, thankful that you have a friend like her you can rely on.
Over the next few weeks, you hardly saw Jaemin. The times you did see him though, he was with the girl he was dating. You found out her name was Jessi and she can be a bit of a bitch. You’ve spoken to her once and she wasn’t the nicest. You were going to talk to Jaemin, but Jessi saw you and stopped you, telling you he doesn’t want to talk to you or see you. You didn’t like the way she spoke to you so, in the nicest way possible, you told her to fuck off.
The first time you saw Jaemin and Jessi together, Jaemin looked happy. But now, whenever you see them together, he seems different. He didn’t seem like himself and lost his smile. You hated seeing him like that, and you were sure it was because of Jessi.
You were on your way back to your dorm when you heard Jaemin calling you. You turned around and saw him walking over to you, his hands in his pockets. You stopped walking and smiled. “Hey stranger”, you said with a giggle, but Jaemin didn’t smile back. Now you are worried.
“What’s wrong?”, you asked, the worry evident in your voice. Has Jessi done something to him? What’s going on? “I’m sorry it had to come to this but, we can’t be friends anymore, so goodbye y/n”, Jaemin said with a frown. He didn’t give you a chance to say anything before he walked off, going into the direction of his dorm.
You just stood there, feeling numb. Your best friend since childhood has just told you he doesn’t want to be friends with you anymore? Now you were confused as fuck. You ran towards your dorm and headed straight to your dorm room, slamming the door behind you as you broke down in tears.
Yeji wasn’t going to be back until later since she’s going on a date with Renjun, so you had no one to talk to. Well, except Jeno but you’re sure Jaemin will be with Jeno so you didn’t want to bother him.
You laid on your bed, crying for what felt like hours. You hurt all over and feel sick to your stomach. You’ve lost your best friend and the person you’ve loved for ages, and you don’t know what to do. You felt lost and hopeless, and you just wanted to go somewhere peaceful, away from everything.
In Jaemin and Jeno’s room, Jaemin was sitting on his bed while Jeno was pacing around. “You really did that? Bro, how fucking stupid are you?”, Jeno said as he glared at Jaemin. Jaemin didn’t say anything as the guilt was eating him up. He wanted to scream, cry, punch something, but he couldn’t do anything.
“You know she’s toxic, bro. I’m worried for you, and I’m scared something is going to happen to you if you don’t leave her. Plus, you said yourself that you like y/n, right?”Jeno said, Jaemin now looking at him. Jaemin nodded and realised that he does love you. He started crying, scared that he fucked up and you now hate him.
Jeno stood there, feeling bad for his friend. He’s not the best at comforting people but he still hugged him, Jaemin hugging him back. “I’m not sure if this will make you feel any better but, I overheard someone saying that there’s a party at the weekend being held at one of the frat houses off campus. You wanna come?”, Jeno said, hearing the sniffles escaping Jaemin. He felt the boy nod, which made Jeno smile. Hopefully having a few drinks will take his mind off things.
Back in your room, you were throwing up in the toilet, still crying as you continued to vomit. You literally cried to the point of making yourself sick, and you hated yourself. Suddenly, the sound of your door opening alerted you as you finally finished throwing up, flushing the toilet and brushing your teeth.
You headed out the bathroom and saw Yeji, who’s hair was a mess. “What the fuck happened to you?”, you asked, and then you saw the hickeys on her neck. “Did Renjun fuck you or something”, you joking said, not thinking too much of it.
“He did, actually”, she said, making you widen your eyes. You looked at her and gave her a look, which made her laugh. “Anyway, moving on. Why were you throwing up? Are you sick? Have you been crying?”Yeji asked question after question, not giving you a chance to answer.
You thought long and hard before you gave her an answer, explaining what happened before with Jaemin, and how he doesn’t want to be your best friend anymore. You also told her how you’ve been feeling because of everything that’s happened and how you’re feeling lost and hopeless, and you don’t know what to do.
Yeji was shocked when you told her about what Jaemin said. She knows Jaemin would never do that on his own terms, so she has a feeling who is behind all this. Anger bubbles up inside of her, hating to see one of her friends hurting, again.
“Tell you what. Renjun is throwing a party at his frat house at the weekend and I’m going, do you wanna come with? Take your mind off things?”Yeji suggested, hoping you would take up the offer. You thought about it and eventually agreed, wanting to drink your sorrows away, but you didn’t tell her that.
-------------------------------
Saturday came sooner than you expected, and you’re wondering what to wear for the party. You weren’t sure if you wanted to wear something casual and cute, or wear something out of your comfort zone. You were looking at the red, tight fit dress you bought a couple of weeks ago and opted to wear that with a pair of black heels.
You went for a quick shower before getting ready, doing your hair and makeup. You were soon done as Yeji came into the room, already dressed (since she stayed over at Renjuns, she got ready there).
“Everyone’s eyes will be looking at you tonight, you look hot”, Yeji exaggerated the word ‘hot’ as you laughed at her reaction, feeling confident about yourself at that moment. “Hey, before we leave, shall we drink some wine first? You know, since there’s some left”, you said as you got the wine out of the cupboard, taking a big gulp of the drink before handing the rest of it to Yeji.
You left the dormitory, walking off campus towards where the party was held. Thankfully Yeji knows where it is so you don’t have to worry about getting lost. You got there after around 10 minutes, walking straight into the house. There were already people who were drunk and it was only 5pm. People making out and sweaty bodies pushed up against each other as you pushed your way through the crowd.
You went straight towards where the alcohol is, pouring yourself a drink in a red cup, downing it. The vodka burned the back of your throat as you hissed, before getting another one. You had about 3 drinks before you put the cup down, wanting to dance to the music that was blasting through the speakers.
You danced on your own while Yeji went to find Renjun, wanting you to meet him. You were just enjoying the buzz, getting lost in the music. You opened your eyes and that’s when you saw him. Jaemin. Except, he was with Jeno instead of Jessi. Why wasn’t he with Jessi? Not that you cared, he said he didn’t want to be your friend anymore.
You don’t know if it was the alcohol or the desperation in you, but you walked over to Jaemin and stood in front of him. He was shocked to see you, especially after what happened. “Can we talk? Please?”, you pleaded, crossing your arms. Jaemin’s eyes drifted to your cleavage for a moment before looking you back in the eyes.
“I’m not sure that’s a good idea”, Jaemin said as he began to walk away. You stopped him as you grabbed his arm. “Don’t give me that bullshit. I need to talk to you whether you like it or not”, you said sternly, and the pit of Jaemin’s stomach started burning. There was something in his eyes that made you clench your legs together, and after excusing himself from Jeno, you both went upstairs where it was quieter.
You pushed Jaemin into an empty room and locked the door, not wanting anyone to barge in. You looked at Jaemin who was sitting on the edge of a bed, his legs spread. “Are you still with Jessi?”, the question just slipped out of your mouth without thinking, and Jaemin scoffed. “So that’s what this is about. And to answer your question, no I’m not”, he answered. Something in the back of your mind was glad that he wasn’t with her anymore.
“Was it Jessi who told you to tell me you didn’t want to be friends anymore? Or was that off your own back? And don’t fucking lie to me Jaemin”, you said as you felt yourself getting more annoyed. He didn’t answer you as he just stared at the floor, not wanting to argue.
“For fucks sake, just answer me”, you yelled, startling Jaemin. He stood up and walked over to you, pushing you against the wall behind you. “You want the truth? Fine. It was Jessi who told me to tell you that because she was fucking annoyed about how much I talked about you”, Jaemin’s face was close to yours as he spoke, making you look him in the eyes.
All you could hear was the sound of your breathing and the faint noise of the music playing downstairs. You licked your lips before talking. “D-do you feel the same way that I do?”, you asked hesitantly, the fear of getting rejected. Jaemin furrowed his brows and took a step back.
“Are you confessing your feelings to me? Are you trying to tell me you love me?”, he asked as he looked you in the eyes. You closed your eyes before nodding, not wanting to see his reaction to you confessing your feelings.
What you didn’t expect, though, was the feeling of his lips on yours. You gasped before kissing him back, pulling his body closer to yours. You felt yourself being pressed up against the wall behind you, the kiss getting deeper. Jaemin’s hands held your hips, as yours went behind his neck. You played with the hair at the nape of his neck, his black hair soft between your fingers.
The kiss got more heated as his tongue fought with yours. He lifted you up and you wrapped your legs around his waist, taking you to the bed. He laid you down on the bed, your lips still attached to each other. He trailed kisses from the corner of your mouth, down your jaw and across your neck, biting and sucking on the skin. You made sounds of pleasure which made Jaemin’s pants tighter. You flipped him over, Jaemin now underneath you.
“You sure you want to do this?”, you asked, worried this would ruin your friendship, even though you knew you both felt the same way. Jaemin nodded at you and rubbed your hips before bringing you back down to kiss you.
-------------------------------
You laid there and stared at the ceiling, catching your breath. You felt great. Amazing, even. You looked over at Jaemin who was breathing heavily and held his hand. He looked at you and a huge smile formed on his face. He brought your hand up to his lips and kissed your knuckles.
Luckily the room you were in had a bathroom connected to it, so Jaemin got up and got a cloth to clean you both up, before you both got dressed again. When you were dressed again, you went into the bathroom to check your makeup, and that’s when you saw the marks running up and down your neck. There weren’t that many, but still enough to make you smile.
You left the bathroom and went back to Jaemin, seeing him fully clothed as he put his shoes back on. When he was standing up straight, you wrapped your arms around his waist and kissed between his shoulder blades. You couldn’t see the smile that formed on his face but you didn’t need to.
You both left the room, unlocking the door and the music downstairs was still playing loudly, some hip hop song you didn’t recognise hitting your ears. You walked down the stairs, hand in hand, and pushed through sweaty bodies. You saw Yeji in the corner of the room with someone, who you assumed was Renjun.
You walked over to where they were, and greeted them. “Where the hell have you been? I’ve been waiting for you for, like, an hour”, Yeji said as she looked at you, you shyly smiled as you looked down and Jaemin chuckled. Renjun snorted as he looked at the marks on your neck, and that’s when Yeji realised.
“You finally both realised your feelings for each other, thank fuck. I was wondering when that was going to happen”, she said as she smiled. She then introduced you guys to Renjun, who seemed really sweet the moment you saw him. He wasn’t your usual frat boy who loved to party every night and date lots of girls. He loved studying and drawing, and he also loved cats.
You drank a bit more, the taste of alcohol running down your throat as you moved to the music. You don’t know how much longer you stayed, but you soon found yourself getting hungry, and you were craving pizza. So, you and Jaemin, along with Yeji, Renjun and Jeno, you all left the party and went to the nearest pizza place, which you unfortunately had to take the bus to get to.
-------------------------------
You were all sitting round a table, sharing 2 large pizzas between the 5 of you. You were all laughing and enjoying the company around you. You looked at Jaemin and admired his side profile. His sharp jawline, his adams apple, and his long eyelashes. Jaemin felt you looking at him and turned to look at you.
“You alright there, babe?”, the sudden pet name slipped out of his mouth and just hearing it made you smile, butterflies forming in your stomach. “Yeah, I’m good. Really good”, you replied, leaning your head on his shoulder, Jaemin moving closer to you so you wouldn’t strain your neck.
Neither of you needed to ask a certain question, already knowing what the answer was going to be. Jaemin held your hand under the table and squeezed it, kissing your forehead and you felt yourself feeling sleepy, eventually falling asleep on his shoulder.
Yeji was the first to notice that you had fallen asleep, smiling at the scene in front of her. Everyone finished the pizza between them before they left the pizza place, Jaemin picking you up and carrying you bridal style, not wanting to wake you up since you look so peaceful.
You all went to the bus stop, waiting for it, which arrived a few minutes later. You all got on and sat down at the back of the bus (thankfully you were the only people on there, apart from the bus driver, since it’s late at night).
-------------------------------
You felt yourself being placed on a comfy surface, stirring in your sleep but soon waking up to see Jaemin putting you down. “You fell asleep while we were in the pizza place, and I didn’t want to wake you up so I brought you up here. With permission of course”, Jaemin explained as he kissed your cheek. You leaned into him, still feeling sleepy.
You’re sure Yeji is staying at Renjun’s again tonight, so you’re going to be alone for the rest of the night, and you were hesitating to ask Jaemin to stay the night. But you eventually found the confidence to ask him.
“Jaemin, please can you stay the night? Yeji is staying at Renjun’s so I’m gonna be alone for the rest of the night and I don’t want to be lonely”, you said as you played with your fingers. You were hoping Jaemin would say yes, since you wanted to cuddle with him. When you’re tipsy, or on the verge of being drunk, you get really affectionate and hug the person closest to you.
“Of course babe. I hope you don’t mind but I tend to sleep in just my boxers and a t-shirt”, he said, feeling rather shy now. You smiled at him and grabbed his hand, kissing his knuckles and rubbing your thumb along them.
After wiping your makeup off and getting changed into your pyjamas, which consisted of shorts and a long sleeved t-shirt, you got into bed, making room for Jaemin. He soon got in after you, covering you both up. He wrapped his arms around you, putting your head on his chest. “I love you”, Jaemin said all of a sudden, making you smile. You buried your face in his chest and he chuckled at you, thinking you’re adorable. “I love you too”, you said back to him, Jaemin kissing the top of your bed before you felt yourself falling back asleep. The last thing you heard before falling asleep was the sound of Jaemin’s heartbeat which was beating rather fast. The reason for that: you.

3x11, part 1.
i was determined to wake up at my own pace but then I saw the pic that Phil posted and it woke me right up. good thing i didn't look at it at 6 am, lol. it's 9:22 am, here we go. (upd: and when i finished with this post, it was 10:23. this is a three hour watch at the very least.)
Tumblr media
Colin really is reborn, huh? I'd expect this from Isaac, but I'm glad it's Colin who stops them.
Tumblr media
What he should have said: "Well guys, you ask Ted first and if he's up to it, we're talking/I'm in."
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Husbands. IDC anymore. They're besties either way.
Tumblr media
"Letting my mom stay with me is the right thing to do, but damn it, it's a pain in the ass."
Tumblr media
Sooo... Jamie really is a nail chewer, huh? Baby boy, that's such a bad habit. Works as a coping mechanism though (probably).
Tumblr media
Jamie is THRILLED to be there.
Tumblr media
The scar. He's such a pretty boy, for real. Leaving Brendan and Jason's name in on purpose bc yeah.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Might start wailing right here bc Jamie's constant feeling of self-worth aka not being enough in everything aka not deserving other's people love and admiration aka Roy and Keeley can get back together, I don't deserve to be happy with them/one of them. Yeah, this hurts.
I wonder what triggered (dad? :)))) bc Jamie is usually a sunshine, but to see a glimpse of what's actually going on inside Jamie's head is... yeah. Gosh, I love this kid so much.
Tumblr media
What a woman, my goodness. A goddess for real.
Tumblr media
And his hair? :D
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
this is a renaissance painting. Bumbercatch is on full adoration mode. Dottie wanting to meet Dani and immediately befriending him. Trent <3333
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The fact that she keep using Oklahoma (and Ted is responding to it like a Pavlov's dog, heh) but that they're CLEARLY best PLATONIC friends. There's no romantic chemistry but a lot of trust and I LOVE seeing it. It would make all the sense in the world if they stay platonic till the end and eventually have their own partners and have double dates and all. Ted with Trent when? Rebecca maybe with her Dutch guy? Someone that would feel her striked by a fucking lightning.
Tumblr media
Now tell me Ted is staying in England.
Tumblr media
A throwback to the first season? Where Rebecca wanted to destroy Ted and knew the owner of the Sun?
I'm sorry, Rebecca is buying A HORSE?? While living in a house in London? It would make way more sense to me if she had a huge territory where she can keep the horse and take care of it and ride it when/if she wants to and spend time with it in general.
Tumblr media
"I'm your future husband-in-law." HE'S SO POLITE. SO GENTLE. IDK about Rebecca's partner, but I know who I want Ted with.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Baby boy. Baby. Jamie, tell me who hurt you, I'll kill them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Are you going to finally kiss Jamie?
Tumblr media
IS HE GOING TO FINALLY KISS JAMIE? I know he won't but omg, everyone else in the room can see it. Everyone else but the main fucking audience.
Tumblr media
"I love your son & I like you very much." HE. HIM. That soft expression, that smile.

I Saw You Once In a Dream, Maybe|| Pt. 7
Tumblr media
“We head to my place, make you dinner and watch something there. Sorry I couldn't think of anything better on the spot.”
“Nah it's fine, we can always go on exciting dates later. First, we need to talk about what happened there. You still haven't answered my question.”
“Ah right, well I have been having dreams, what I assumed to be a future event, maybe? I kind of thought it was some weird dream until you showed up out of nowhere.”
“What exactly happened in your dreams?”
“W-well, it was about,” You were hesitant, feeling embarrassed about this whole situation. “Does it really matter? You kind of ratted yourself out.”
“Not telling huh? I can see your face turning red too, don't tell me it was something dirty~”
“Absolutely not!” You punch his shoulder.
“Then why are you so embarrassed about it?”
“Cause it was in a…wedding setting.”
There was a pause between the two. Too busy staring at each other with wide eyes. Monkey King's tail soon started to swing as a wide smug smirk appeared on his face.
“Are you saying that we? No way! Now I'm never leaving your side, you're stuck with me for good.”
“You don't seem to be weirded out by this.”
“I meant what I said earlier, I like you and want to get to know you better. Even if I need to do a few… tricks.” He clears his throat.
“Oh I know, it seems to have worked since we got married. Actually, I'm curious, what were your genius plans?”
You and Monkey King continue on the walk. He was obviously nervous but tried to play it off.
“Oh the usual, nothing too important or unique.”
“Come on, I won't be too mad.”
“A few were just making a reason to chat with you. Create a few false scenarios like earlier. Then take you out and buy you stuff.”
“The classic, buying my love.”
“It's a little more than that, but in a way yeah. Then I would pressure you to give me a chance.”
“Whoa, red flag buddy. What else did you have planned, you got me hooked.”
“Now that I'm saying it out loud, it doesn't like a good idea.”
“Come on too late to back out.”
“Okay just don't freak out too much.”
“As long as you don't do it, I promise.”
“I won't since I realize I may have gone over the line. If all things failed, a love potion. Even if it doesn't exist, I would have found a way.”
“...”
“You're not mad right?”
“What the actual fuck-”
“You said, you wouldn't be mad!”
“I'm not, but did you just hear what you said!”
“It didn't sound like a bad plan when I thought about it!”
“How did you even get feelings for me to begin with?”
“Oh, that old story… Best if I don't say anything about it.”
“What dirty secret are you hiding?”
“A lot actually.”
“I can see why you felt like you had tricked me into marrying you.”
“It's not that bad-”
“Shut up it is.”
Monkey King let out a whine, before hanging his head down in shame. You continue walking, reaching the familiar house.
“Stay here, I'll be quick.”
“But I want to come too! I need to meet my in-laws.”
“Nope, we are not married yet.”
“Yet.”
“You know what, fine.”
Turning around, you grabbed the collar of his jacket. The kiss was quick and light.
“If you listen, and stay out here, I'll give you a longer kiss.”
He smirks, cupping your cheek. His thumb rubs your skin, it was oddly relaxing. In all your years, no one has ever made you feel this way.
“You always surprise me in the best way. Go, I'll stay out here but pretty sure your mother saw us.”
On cue, your mom called out for you.
“Of course, she did.”
You both enter the house, your giddy mom was thrilled to meet the demon next to you.
“I didn't know you were bringing someone special. You should have told me sooner, I would have made dinner and picked up around the house.”
“Mom please, it’s not what you think,” Monkey King steps forward, cutting you off.
“That’s right, luckily I’m not their lover,” He pulls out two strands of hair.
“Wait luckily?!”
“I’m their fiancé!”
The two hair strands became rings. One on your finger. Your mom squealed in delight on the news. While you stood there in shock.
You should have left him back at Pigsy’s.
“Honey, you never told me! I thought you said you weren’t dating anyone.”
“Oh, you know how they are. They wanted it to be a secret but then I proposed.”
Your mom guides him to the living room. Chatting away about the wedding and him wanting to get her and my father's blessings. You stayed glued to your spot.
Only one thought entered your head.
You're going to find a way to kill him.

Motherly Concern
Juniper: Hey, Winter~!
Winter: Ah?! Ahem! Hello, Mrs. Arc. Can I help you?
Juniper: Oh don’t call me that, it makes me feel old. Call me, Juniper… Or, Mom, whichever feels better~!
Winter: E-Excuse me?!
Juniper: So you, and my mad little scientist… I like the sound of that…
Winter: W-What are you talking about?
Juniper: I can see you two getting together; I remember when I was younger your mother, and I fought all the time for, Acheius. That’s my husband, I obviously won the fight. I often wonder how happy, Willow would be. But, then again, I wouldn’t have my children, and you wouldn’t have your sisters, but nonetheless…
Winter: I-I’m sorry… Juniper, but why are you telling me all of this?
Juniper: I don’t want you to end up like your mother, Winter. A sad drunkard shell of a broken woman. She was so, so much more years ago, you wouldn’t even recognize who she was back then. But, then she married that bastard! He broke her, he lied to her, and married her for the money. She never saw it coming… That why she…
Winter: S-She what…? What did my mother do?
Juniper: You should ask her yourself. She probably won’t tell you, but after what happened she just escaped into the bottle, and now she’s trapped there…
Winter: How do you know all of this?
Juniper: Well, Willow, and I may have fought over, Acheius love, and affection. But, we still loved each other like the sister we never had. And, I don’t want you to be like her; trapped in a broken, heartless marriage. I want you to be happy, and I know you feel happier just looking at him. Sure his little Hunter Drones may love him like they do, but he will never see them in that way, no matter how hard they try, you on the other hand. Well, you’re young, you still have time. But, don’t take too log, otherwise someone else may try, and take him away from you.
Winter: B-But, my career, my job for, Atlas, my team?! W-W-What about all of that?! I-I just can’t leave it for, Jaune. C-Can I…?
Juniper: Who says you have too? You could easily marry him now, and stay in the military as you are now, or you may decide to leave, and be with, Jaune, and what ever family you chose to be. One with kids mind you, it’s not that I just want grandkids, lots of grandkids… But, that they’ll fill a void in your heart that you never knew you had.
Winter: It sounds like you’re placing me, and Jaune in your husbands, and my mother shoes.
Juniper: Meh, I won’t deny I am. But, that just because of what I said earlier; I don’t want you to end up like my dear friend. I want you to be happy.
Winter: Be happy…
Juniper: Listen, you don’t have to decide about any of this now. At most you just have to think about it. Okay?
Winter: I-I’ll try, Juniper.
Juniper: Good, now if you’ll excuse me, I need to have a few words with my son. After that I need to do some clean up work.
Winter: What kind of clean up work?
Juniper: Well help, Willow get clean up. Get her sober, and all. Remind her she still has a friend who loves her. Maybe I should have, Acheius help me. He could be the father presence you kids always needed. Maybe we could finally do that threesome I always wanted to do~!
Winter: T-Threesome?!
Juniper: Then I have to deal with that bastard first. What do you say, incriminating evidence that will get him locked ip for life, or should I just kill him?
Winter: You’re going to kill my father?!
Juniper: Yeah, it would probably easier that way; less paperwork, and no lawyers to deal with.
Winter: W-Wait, Juniper!
Juniper: Well, I’ll be off now; Bye, future daughter-in-law~!
Winter: W-Wait, hold on now?!
Winter: …
Winter: Oh no…
Ironwood: Ah, Specialist, Schnee. Did you enjoy your conversation with, Mrs. Arc?
Winter: I’m not sure… She gave me some advice about, Jaune. Then she told me about her history with my mother. Now she’s going to kill my father…?
Ironwood: Is she now?
Winter: She said so herself, Sir. Should I assign a guard detail to protect him?
Ironwood: No, its pointless. We couldn’t stop her even if we tried. Hell, he may already be dead anyway.
Winter: He may be what?!

Vanessa Hudgens :
So I wanted to make this post because looking on all the platforms I use to follow Austin Butler himself and/or other fan pages, I can see a lot of you are bothered by Vanessa saying that Austin helped her find her now husband.
I like to start off that I like Vanessa , anyone who follows me on IG will know that. I think him and Vanessa made a lovely couple. He genuinely seemed very happy with her. You can tell they really were down bad for one another. I say this because I don’t want to come across as some fake hypocrite. Posting pictures of him when he was with Vanessa and then turning around to make this post.
However , over the last few years that they have since broken up, she obviously has been throwing shade. Commenting on post making fun of his voice, saying things in interviews, and some of the memes she post to her stories on IG.
I don’t like when she does that. I think it’s annoying and quite rude. I find crazy to that she does this to this very day , even after being married to her supposed “soul mate”.
Vanessa to me comes across as a hurt woman. I don’t condone her throwing shade the way she does , however I feel if she did find her special someone , why keep bringing up your ex? A lot of fans seems to think she is trying to keep her name in headlines. And while I do agree to some extent , I think it goes deeper than someone looking for attention.
Vanessa was with Austin for a decade. They went through a lot together. Her dad passing, his Mom passing. She was in his sister’s wedding, which says A LOT. Not only was she close to Austin , she clearly was tight with his family as well. We seen how happy she was when he got the part of Elvis. I remember her seeing when she was speaking with Ryan Seacrest and how stoked she was telling him the story about how she told him he should play Elvis.Austin has told that story more than once too. Vanessa even had promo photos on her IG for when he finally got the role that she still has up on her profile all these years later.
I honestly feel bad for her in a way. Yeah as Austin’s fan I don’t like her shading him, but I don’t necessarily think she is a bad person based off that alone . To have a relationship as long as they had just end. Not sure exactly what happened with the break up, but from the outside looking in it seems to have ended abruptly.
That has to hurt…like. Especially seeing another girl be attached to his arm during his Elvis press . Someone who in my opinion don’t deserve to be reaping anything beneficial from that. I’m sure she thought that those were moments that they would share. And not because it would get her some level of clout but because that was her man. Vanessa to me seemed like one of those “my man , my man, my man” kind of women when she was with Austin. She saw a future with him I believe . Especially after hearing how on a podcast she stated how when she first met Cole she asked if marriage and kids were important to him. And i remember watching that and the look on her face seemed sad. Like she was reminiscing on something. Like maybe perhaps that’s what she wanted with someone else but didn’t get . To me I think she saw herself marrying Austin one day and having his children, the whole white picket fence shit. Hollywoood edition lol!
The fact that she keeps bringing him up is very telling . You a whole married woman and still throwing shade at your ex. Us a women , I feel like when we really find our someone after kissing a few frogs we could careless about wtf our ex got going on. Not calling Austin a frog , just speaking in general.
As fans I feel like we gotta be like 🤷🏾‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️. I know it’s annoying , but sis is still clearly stuck on him. Which to me says alot about how he was a boyfriend. I’m sure they had their ups and downs but it probably was a good relationship overall. Because who gonna be out in these streets missing someone who was a complete headache and toxic as hell? Especially if they feel like they finally found the person who they feel like was heaven sent….
Austin has been nothing but kind during this too. He can easily throw shade back , but he stays humble and minds his business. Which Vanessa needs to do too smh. Vanessa needs to go heal whatever broke her when her and Austin ended. She has a husband now , marriage is forever.
I’ll end this with I hope as a woman myself she finds peace within herself . I obviously am not for her ass saying the stuff she did , but I don’t dislike her. We have all at one point of time thrown shade an ex. Said some snarky shit. It happens . It’s one thing for some troll to throw shade to Austin, but an ex he was with for years on end….Like I said in the beginning, her acting that way goes deeper than someone looking for attention. Vanessa might have not done anything super duper huge since HSM but she’s still pretty well known. She doesn’t need to throw shade to stay relevant .

Can I request hcs for Trey Azul Deuce Floyd and whoever else you want. Everyone has such pretty eye colours but mine are nearly black you can't see the actual brown unless you shone a light directly in it. Can I request them discovering that and falling harder for the reader it's like a secret in plain sight only they know
𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐫𝐲'𝐬 𝐇𝐚𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 - 𝐖𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭
Notes: Hi, anon!
Let me tell you first that you have beautiful eyes. From where I come from, having brown eyes is pretty common and my mom makes similar complaints about her own eyes too but hey, every eye has something very special to it bc of the person that has them. And you never know, maybe someone sees your eyes and thinks “wow, they are so dark! that’s so cool” or something like that. I mean, I’m the type to say that lol
I didn’t knew who to exclude because I don't do more than 3 characters and Trey and Azul already appeared in other requests… but you said “whoever else I wanted” so I chose Lilia to replace them. He has one of the wildest eyes out there so maybe it’s a good match. But! I’ll still use Trey and Azul for a part 2 of this in the future, for sure. I’ll do the same for the anon who also asked for Trey in the “sick stubborn reader” story. I’m planning a whole special project to this bc I simply cannot let anyone behind it seems lol
Thanks for the request <3

Your Eyes Have Enchanted Me
Tumblr media
It was an ordinary afternoon in Diasomnia and Lilia had taken you to his room to show you some special souvenirs that he collected during his many travels over the years. Among all, there was this lamp from a distant land whose light could illuminate an entire street block. Lilia turned it on and inevitably, the lamp lit a powerful light before your eyes;
And that's when Lilia noticed something in your eyes as he turned to see your reaction. Your eyes, usually so dark that they almost looked like ebony, revealed their true color: brown. But you were starting to blink so much that Lilia put out the lamp and saw your eyes darken again, as if nothing had happened;
Lilia stared at you for a while, enchanted and silent. Awkwardly, you ended up explaining to him what happened and although you treated it as something simple, Lilia was truly moved by that secret of human physiognomy. His eyes — which you considered quite unique — were sparkling the whole time you spoke;
Then Lilia followed up the days chuckling to himself alone, marveling at the knowledge you shared with him. Only with him. As if it were possible, he fell in love with you more. Either because of the accidents of fate or because you would like him to know that, Lilia was in the clouds, floating higher than usual. As a gift, he decides to create for you a magic lamp whose light doesn’t end up blinding your eyes too much and so you could also better see your own dreamy eyes;
When very young, Lilia didn’t like his own eyes. His race was small and lived near the valley of the little nature fairies who were frightened by the “blood-thirsty” appearance of the family Vanrouge’s eyes. If Lilia had not met the young King of Thorns — Malleus’ grandfather — and, through their friendship, elevated his clan to a status of respect, he would never have passed this obstacle of his youthful years. His gloomy and intimidating appearance, which signaled warning for the smaller fairies, could then be the sign of an even greater fear in the big fairies;
It took some work and Lilia put together notes, mechanisms and technology from various other sources — like Trey from the science club and online friend Gloomy Samurai who was almost the “god” of mechanics — to create the lamp for you and your beautiful human eyes. When everything was ready, Lilia showed you the final result and you watched its effect on your eyes through the mirror in your bedroom. Eventually, you noticed Lilia's gaze on you;
Everyone in the Valley of Thorns and nearby regions, home to all kinds of fairies, has something special about their features. If for fairies, such characteristics are analyzed in detail because they denounce something of that fairy’s nature in particular, for humans it is another kind of exotic, fascinating and curious feeling. Lilia explained all this to you;
“But your eyes are the most beautiful thing made by human genes,” Lilia concluded. You turned your face to the side, flustered with his words. That world had really fantastic things and was actually quite different from your world where varied hair colors are obtained by artificial paints. There were a lot of people in school with wonderful hair colors and eyes. But then to say that yours is the most beautiful thing...?
When you were going to try to ask Lilia for more explanations about this, you were cornered again by the way he was looking at you. You, on the other hand, analyzed his eyes. Red raspberry-colored eyes, intense, with a sharp vertical iris that made your stomach tremble, worried. Your natural instincts conflicted between fear and admiration of the beauty of those eyes that look at you with the same admiration;
From then on, Lilia always quoted your eyes when he was going to compliment you. Be it their ability to hide the most beautiful of brown tones, be it the beautiful, beautiful shade that shone with your deepest feelings. It was just fantastic for him and you didn't quite know what to say. But his admiration was quite captivating;
Lilia even made a song about your eyes, their secret hidden between the lines of the lyrics and the poetry that surrounded the feelings of his heart. Not that anyone had understood much because he sang everything in the most hardcore rock metal style humanly possible. “Lilia must be talking about the eyes of a very powerful being for such respect and dedication,” was what Malleus said and that made you laugh a lot.
Tumblr media
Deuce and you were on campus in the late afternoon, on top of the lawn near the Mystery Shop, chatting and spending time together. It was all going normally until Deuce noticed how the sunset light hit your face, making your very dark eyes reveal a beautiful shade of brown;
Because Deuce was staring at you intensely for a while, you ended up coming to the conclusion of what he was observing without him needing to say anything. “My eyes are so black, you must have even doubted that they are brown actually,” you said, laughing a bit. Deuce didn't think this was a weird thing, though he kept blushing by staring you over and over without the slightest subtlety;
Deuce returned to his dorm room still thinking about what happened. He kept this precious event in his heart, happy to have witnessed it. He didn't tell Ace about it. If you spoke to others, it wouldn’t be a problem. But he wanted to keep that feeling that he knew, maybe before everyone else, a special thing about you;
Deuce tried to think of something romantic to talk about with your eyes, becoming more delighted with you every day. He talked to Jack without telling him exactly what happened, and although it was obvious that he wanted to talk about eyes and you, Jack thought of some good advice to give. Once he saw a couple comparing each other's eyes to food and this should be quite simple to do. Deuce found the idea fantastic;
He bought a box of chocolates from the Mystery Shop and prepared a whole speech about the difference between the colors of chocolates, that even the darkest of chocolates is not necessarily bitter and is extremely expensive and appreciated — according to what he studied the night before. But when you sit on the bench and again, the sunlight came to meet your eyes, Deuce forgot everything he had prepared;
Deuce has never been one to personally cling to things like eyes but he likes the fact that he has his mother's eyes. It is a simple thing, however it makes him feel connected to a very special person for him. Even if that's not your case, Deuce still thinks there's something very wonderful about the subtlety of your eyes color;
Since then, Deuce has always been attentive to your eyes when you pass through places with a lot of light or darker ambiences, watching the subtle facets of brown tones appear and disappear as if playing in your eyes. It's so interesting to him and even if you don't quite understand what he likes so much, his smiles warm your heart;
Once, you commented on Deuce's eyes and how beautiful it was the peacock-green shade he has. It's electric, fresh and hopeful, just like him. But — partly because he didn't know how to answer your compliments most of the time — Deuce assured you that you also have beautiful eyes and that they are even more beautiful because it is yours;
One day, Deuce gave you a small keychain that he found in one of the village’s shops. Coincidentally, the pendant was of the suit of Spade and had a very beautiful and glossy black color. “Now, look at this!,” he said and getting close to you, he took the pendant up high and you saw the sunlight reflect some shades of bronze inside;
“Diamond-senpai was commenting on these double-colored keychains on Magicam and… I...,” speaking of changing colors, his face began to turn quite red. “... I remembered you.” Your hands trembled holding Deuce's little gift, you were trying to control yourself. Deuce was so cute at times that you just wanted to hug and squeeze him with all your might;
It took a while for others to notice this effect that light had in your eyes, if only because they simply thought the dark and intense color of your eyes was normal. But during this time, Deuce and you acted as if they kept an important secret, and, at least for you two, it was. And one thing you could be sure of: Deuce would always find your eyes the most beautiful in the world.
Tumblr media
It was a simple afternoon on the basketball court. Floyd and you were lying on the floor, talking and passing the time since he had lost interest in playing and wanted to spend time with you. But at one point, Floyd sat down and noticed how the ceiling lights along with the Sun made the brown of your eye appear;
Floyd found this incredibly curious and ended up going over to you a bunch of times, trying to understand how it works. When Floyd realized that you were getting a little uncomfortable — and his shadow didn't help the light get into your eyes — he stopped. You explained what it was all about;
From Floyd's expression, you came to think that maybe he didn't understand anything but, in fact, he understood it very well. Several merman and mermaids in the Coral Sea have special abilities or features because of the species of fish from which they descend. In the case of the Leech twins, they were born to a couple of eels where Mr. Leech has golden eyes and Mrs. Leech has olive-colored eyes, which blended into their two mischievous children;
Despite understanding your explanation, Floyd had a very unexpected attitude about it. He commented on the fact that he had heterochromia and because of that — in his mind — you two became more alike because you also had special eyes. It wouldn't quite be how you would classify your eyes but Floyd seemed so happy with this “similarity” that there was nothing else to do;
Floyd had been thinking a lot about your eyes ever since, completely in love with you and becoming obsessed with the fact that humans can have these small, subtle abilities. You laugh at the way Floyd treats your dark brown eyes like a superpower. You’re just an ordinary human and, in your opinion, there are other people with more beautiful eyes. Floyd is one of them;
Floyd doesn’t comment on this with anyone, excited by the fact that only he knows this about you. But he likes to torment Jade and Azul over the fact that he knows some of your secrets and they don't, which makes Azul insanely curious. Riddle is also the target of these taunts but, he thinks that “because it's Floyd " should be no big deal and looks at you with pity when you pull Floyd somewhere else;
Floyd once commented to you about the eyes and characteristics of various fishes and other marine animals, going in full detail about the colors of each, to your surprise and pride. The way Floyd's eyes sometimes shine when talking from home is very endearing. His right eye lights up like gold and the left eye vibrates with emotion, like an olive about to be born in its tree;
Suddenly Floyd went silent because he ended up being distracted by the way you were looking at him, the darkness of your eyes curious and enchanting like a treasure ship in the bottom of the ocean. “You have beautiful eyes, Koebi-chan,” Floyd smiled, leaning the side of his face on his right hand, squeezing his own cheek. He seemed quiet, those rare occasions he stays in place;
You are invited more often to the Mostro Lounge. All because Floyd likes the way your eyes reflect the lights there, even in their blackness. The sparkling and light colors of white, violet and blue have a very special effect on your eyes;
On one of those visiting days, Floyd made a special request for you just to compare your eyes to beluga caviar which looks black but is actually dark gray when shown in another light. You didn't know what caviar's fame had in Twisted Wonderland, but in your world it was something very expensive and rare to find — that's what you told him. Floyd shared the caviar between you two and ate it fast and carefree like it was a cracker, a simple afternoon snack. You laughed at his antics;
You both lie on the basketball court together again. It was a day off from the club and Floyd managed to get Jade to steal the court’s keys for him. There you got over your first experience and once again, Floyd saw the way the light plays with the colors of your eyes, trapped in an endless fascination, which is very unusual by his standards. It must be because it is the eyes of his beloved Koebi-chan.

(gif not mine)
Tumblr media
To anyone else, it was a cool day in Hawkins, Indiana. To our group of mismatched heroes, it was another calm day of waiting for the other shoe to drop. For the end of times to appear. After the conflict of their spring break and disappearance of Vecna, an evil entity trying to reign control of The Upside Down and the real world; the group was in defense mode. He could strike at any moment, try to finish what he started back in March. So when Eleven and Mike are outside and someone literally falls from the sky, what is the party going to do?
“Steve!” El yelled as she spotted the girl falling in the sky. “Get over here!”
At the sound of her yell, Steve and the older teens raced to the front of the cabin to see El waving her hands out, slowing the drop of a girl that seemed to have fallen from the direction of the sky. They all watched as El lowered her slowly from about tree’s height to the ground where she laid seemingly unconscious. The group was quiet.
“What the hell is that?” Steve asked as he took a few steps closer to the girl on the ground. “Where did she come from?”
“The sky,” Mike answered as he laid a hand on El’s shoulder. “We saw her falling and El stopped her.”
“So you're saying she just fell from the sky?” Nancy asked. “Like really, she just appeared?”
El shrugged. “That’s when I noticed her.”
Steve sighed. “Well we can’t just leave her out here. Should we bring her in the house to see if she wakes up?’
No one had any disagreements so Steve stepped forward and picked the girl off the ground and carried her into the cabin. Steve laid her carefully on the couch, the rest of the group taking places around the tiny cabin.
“What should we do with her?” Will asked from the window near the door. “Where did she even come from?”
“Maybe she can answer those questions when she wakes up?” Robin suggested hopefully. “I mean with all the shit that happened, it would be that she landed here of all places, right?”
“So you think she’s evil?” Steve asked.
“No!” Robin said and glared at Steve. “I’m just saying, isn't this just what we deal with now?”
Steve shrugged and looked around the room to get a good headcount. “Who’s missing?”
Dustin came from the direction of the small kitchen. “Just Eddie and Max. They called earlier saying they would be a little late.”
Steve nodded. “Should we call Hopper?”
Jonathan nodded behind Nancy. “I’ll call him and Mom to get them over here, they should know.”
Steve nodded and went back to staring at the girl. She was breathing, that much was clear. What the hell is she doing here?
It wasn’t too much later that the group could hear Eddie’s van making it up the drive. Before he could make too much noise, Steve and Robin met the pair at the door.
They could see Eddie and Max getting out of the van, laughing as Eddie ruffled Max’s hair. They both stopped short when they saw what was waiting for them at the door.
“What’s going on?” Eddie asked at the end of the steps. “Is everyone okay?”
Steve shrugged and put his hands on his hips. “We might have a slight problem?”
“Problem?” Max echoed quietly.
“A girl fell from the sky,” El said suddenly from behind Steve. Steve jumped and moved away as she came out the door. “Mike and I saw her falling and I slowed her down.”
“Harrington?” Eddie asked as he looked at El. “Is this true?”
Steve nodded. “Yes. She’s in there on the couch, still passed out we think. We don’t know where she came from.”
“Max might,” El said as she reached for Max. “I think you’ve seen her.”
“Seen her?” Robin echoed as they let El bring Max to the couch. The three at the door watched as Max studied the girl before looking back at the trio. She nodded.
Steve sighed and rubbed a hand down his face. “Why is it always us?”
Eddie clapped his shoulder before moving into the cabin. “Why not?”
Max sat at the foot of the couch the unconscious girl laid on. “I, uh saw her in a vision. El saw it too when she saved me from the Vecna, that’s how she recognized her.”
“The visions that Vecna accidentally showed you?” Nancy questioned. “The ones from the future?”
Max nodded. “Yeah. She’s from the ones about Eddie.”
The whole group turned to face Eddie.
“Me?” Eddie asked. “You’ve got it all wrong, Red. I’ve never seen that girl before in my life.”
“Well she’s in the visions with you!” Max exclaimed. “A lot of it is a little muddy because it was shown so fast, but she was laughing with you in one of them. You looked… happy.”
“Happy?” Eddie repeated. He looked at the girl one more time. Nothing stood out about her. Was she supposed to be a part of his future?
“We can’t do anything until she wakes up,” Nancy said. “So let's not get worked up about this.”
They all nodded and tried not to focus on the elephant in the room.
“She’s not bad,” El muttered as she sat by the TV that was playing a random movie. “She didn’t look evil in the visions, she was around us all. Like family.”

A bit of a darker request so feel free to skip!
But, if possible, could I request for a Macaque x reader(they/them) in which reader is part of MK's friend group and fights alongside them as part of the good guys so obviously them and Macaque are rivals. But has reader like, a really abusive mother, maybe the father is absent for whatever reason.
Point is, the mother is physically, mentally and emotionally abusive, making reader have more than horrid thoughts, one night reader and their mom have a really bad fight and reader leaves, just runs away under the rain and in a state of panic and emotional overwhelm they end up at Macaque's dojo, the shadow monkie finds reader all injured and crying, soaked up from the rain, they can barely for a word but they manage to explain thay they didn't know where else to go as they had kept their home situation a secret from their friends. You can take it from there!
Again, feel free to skip if you don't feel comfy with this stuff and hope your surgery goes well!!!⭐
CW: ABUSE (Physical, mental, emotional) A/N: I feel like a lot of people don't utilize Macaque's ability to hear things in the past, present, and future a lot. Let's change that. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ It was a storming night, usual for the spring weather, but what wasn't usual was Macaque finding one of his adversaries curled up on the floor of his dojo crying, and covered in fresh bruises and a good few cuts. They were soaked to the bone, which would explain their violent trembling. Though confused, Macaque goes over to Y/N and kneels down. He carefully puts a hand on their shoulder, to which they violently flinch away.
"Easy kid, it's just me. I'm not gonna hurt ya, it looks like someone beat you up enough. What happened, why aren't you with the kid?"
Y/N couldn't respond, only breaking out into violent sobs. Something was definitely wrong, but first things first. Macaque takes off his scarf and uses it to cover Y/N. "C'mon Y/N, you'll get sick if you just lay here. I'm not gonna hurt you, ok? But I do have to move you." Slowly, letting Y/N see what he was doing, he picked them up like a mother would a sick child. He let their head lay on his shoulder, tugging the scarf so it fit as a sort of cloak. He thought for a second before turning the ground to a shadow portal, slowly moving through it. On the other side was what looked like the inside of a cave. The sound of the rain outside was very distant. Candles lit the area, giving everything a soft glow. Macaque set Y/N on a couch with ridiculously comfortable cushions set on top of an egregiously mis-matched carpet.
"I know, its not pretty, but I've never been one for interior design." He knelt down, putting a hand on Y/N's shoulder. "I'm gonna go get something to make you feel better, ok? Sit right here, and don't go anywhere."
He left to some deeper part of the cave, pushing aside the blanket that acted as a curtain-door as he exited the room. Y/N was left alone with their thoughts for a while before they felt something tugging on the scarf end. They looked over and saw...a tiny little monkey with a red face...skull? Was there two of them?? The little guy hopped up on the couch, tugging at the scarf. Its twin hopped in Y/N's lap, peering at the new stranger. Y/N cautiously reached out a hand to pet the Lap Twin, who shoved their head under the hand immediately. Y/N smiled a bit, feeling the fluffiness of the soft fur. Were they Macaque's pets or something? The second monkey hopped on Y/N's shoulders, rubbing the hood of the make-shift scarf-cloak before laying its head on it.
"Rumble! Savage! What have I told you two about climbing on people? Not unless I tell you to!"
The two monkeys (apparently Rumble and Savage) immediately left Y/N to begin hopping around Macaque's feet, who was holding a steaming tea cup and a blanket. "Alright alright, just gimme a second. I know, there's a stranger, it's exciting, but just give dad a few seconds."
Macaque went over to Y/N and handed them a warm cup of tea. It smelled nice, like peaches. "Don't mind them, they're both little devils." When he sat next to Y/N, he was immediately pounced upon, with Savage tugging at his ears and Rumble attaching to his chest for hugs. The demon monkey sighed, patting Rumble's back.
"So what happened, Y/N?"
Y/N spoke their first words. "I didn't have anywhere else to go...I'm sorry I broke into your dojo, but-"
"I don't care about that. You look like someone's punching bag, and that doesn't happen on its own or by accident."
They went quiet, sipping the tea instead of answering. Macaque internally sighed. He hated to do this, but they'd given him no choice. Closing his eyes, he ignored the tugs and cuddles of Rumble & Savage, pushing out all external sounds and sensations. He could hear screaming, slapping, fists connecting with flesh. When he opened his eyes again, he felt sick to his stomach. He spoke in a much more gentle tone, "It was your mother, wasn't it?"
Tensing up immediately, Y/N scooted as far away from Macaque as they could "Talk to me. Why doesn't the kid know? The pig and the gay nerd would've taken you in, they could have-"
"I don't want them to know! Please Macaque, you can't tell them ever! I don't-" Y/N's voice broke and fresh tears fell from their eyes.
At the tears, Savage hopped down from messing with Macaque. He slowly inched over to Y/N, hopping in their lap. Rumble followed, even reaching up to wipe away the water that leaked from their face.
"Fine, I won't tell them, but you're not going back there. If you're not going to tell the kid, and you have nowhere else to go...you can stay here. I'll find you someplace safe to stay."
Y/N only nodded, sipping more of the tea. It couldn't hurt. Macaque continued, "I'll get whatever stuff you need later. For now, here..." He handed them pain medicines, as well as bandages. "You can patch yourself up and sleep here." He set down the blanket in the space between him and Y/N. "Rumble, Savage." He clapped his hands twice. The two apelings ran over and hopped on Macaque's shoulders. "If you need anything, I'll be in the room with the purple curtain."
"Isn't it a blanket?"
"...maybe."
With that, he took the twins and left, leaving Y/N to finish their tea. It might not be much, only a cup of tea and a blanket, but it was a start. Curling up, Y/N felt a small drop of something they hadn't felt in a long time: safety.

Forbidden (Devil!Tom Holland X Angel!reader)
Tumblr media
Summary: Both of us, contrast....but will it work out at last?
Since thousands of years the demons and angels have been enemies. But there is one day when the people from the dark, from the land of sins and the people from the heavenly kingdom, the celestial city and the good-doers come together. This day was solely for the purpose that there is a bond between hell and heaven and this only happened once an earth year.
It was compulsory for you to go, being the eldest princess and the future ruler of heaven. You along with your sisters loved this day but there was one thing the four of you dreaded. The cocky and smug smiles of the princes and right hand man of hell.
They were literal hell.
Tom, the eldest prince, had been teasing and flirting with you since as long as you can remember. Sure he was confident ,strong, intelligent, handsome but it was annoying. All 4 of them Tom, Harry, Sam and Harrison had been doing this with all 4 of us me , Grace , Hope and Lily.
You looked in the mirror and smoothed out your white off shoulder dress . Sighing you readied yourself for the day ahead. You knew by the end of the day your heels would have killed your feet and you would be exhausted but weirdly you were excited to get annoyed by him.
You took your purse and went outside your room where you met Grace. “Hey grace, you look good. Trying to impress someone? "You asked teasingly. “No” she said sheepishly. “Alright , I will say that to Harry when I meet him. "You smirked and chuckled while walking away. You always loved to tease her.
As soon as you set foot outside the castle a breeze of fresh air hit your face. You looked around and saw all the angels chattering and laughing with each other. There was a sense of excitement and joy in the air. Looking at them made you smile. Your mother always said that you were gonna be a good ruler, that you had a kind heart and it belonged to the citizens. But what if your heart also belonged to someone else ?
Tom's POV:
The ceremony had started a while ago. It was happening in the place between heaven and hell , Nowhere, yep that was the name because it was neither in heaven , hell, or earth.
I saw the boys at a bar (obviously arranged by hell) chatting and catching up.
" Hey mate . How are you?"I asked Harrison who was sitting beside Tuwaine who was drinking a lemonade. Huh angels.
" I'm fine bro what about you, future king? he teased.
"Not so well, mom wants me to marry a rich girl . She has been sending out invites, basically my bodyguards to their house and threatening them”
“Do you have a girl in mind?” Harrison mused.
“You know what keep that thought in mind” looking distracted Tom gazed in the distance “be back in a min”.
Tom stood up and walked towards the weeping cherry tree under which you stood with all your beauty and glory.
Y/N PoV :
“Hey love , long time no see” I heard a familiar voice saying.
“I don’t wanna see you anytime” I said while looking up at him . God he had definitely changed. “Oh , you hurt me with those words darling” he said in faux offence.
I looked at him in a ‘really’ sort of way. “What do you want Holland?”
“ oh nothing just wanted to talk to the pretty girl under the tree”He said smugly.
“Thomas, you are wasting my time I have to go talk to the council members". You rolled your eyes and started walking away. You felt a grip of a callous hand on your wrist and looked back at Tom.
“I know , I know it’s just” he sighed and continued “you know how our parents are like sworn enemies of each other, we can change that, we are the future rulers of heaven and hell. We can bring both sides together. Look around Y/N everyone looks so happy together and i know that hell is for the people who sinned but maybe we can make this celebration a week longer."
“And how are we gonna do that?”You asked .
“Well since we are the prince and princess we should team up and start thinking about this. I was thinking of starting with taking you around somewhere, maybe on Earth," He sheepishly said " But this is just for um royal purposes and nothing else" He rambled on.
You chuckled but slowly your smile faded away.
"I know this will shock you but I would have gone with you under different circumstances Tom".
"What do you mean different circumstances?"
"Tom , an angel and a demon can't date. I'm pretty sure you knew that. It's forbidden" You said sadly.
"Well who said anything about dating each other?" He chuckled though you could see the hurt envelope his face as much he is trying to hide it.
"I'm sorry Tom, I know you just want to date me and maybe this celebration thing is a bonus , but as I said before , it's forbidden."
"Just one chance Y/N" He whispered sadly.
"Tom listen to yourself! how are we going to do this? we both have duties to attend to. We both have an angel or a demon beside us at all times, we can't even sneak out. And even if we do we might get caught which might ruin our reputation and-" suddenly you felt his soft lips on yours. Returning the kiss you pulled him closer by his collar.
"What was that for?" You asked quietly.
"To tell you that I will do anything to get with you, so wanna try this?" He asked but you could see the mischief in his eyes "especially after that kiss?"he continued and returned back to his normal state.
"I was gonna say yes but now i will have to reconsider" you teased and smiled.
