There's a slow turn of the undead's head towards the other. Then a slow assessment of the other's presence. There's no physical indication of hostility on Connor's part. The second set of arms are behind his back, and his shoulders are lowered.

No muscles on Connor's face, but it matters not. It doesn't change the air of melancholy and oppressive air that surrounds him. It's cold, and it's heavy.

"...Yeah."

Five stops.

Ryangyi sat almost perfectly in the center of the subway, positioned as if she was ready for a photo. Sat up, posture corrected. Her dark hair was tied back casually, a pair of sunglasses resting on the bridge of her small nose. It wasn’t bright enough for them, but no one seemed to take notice. To her right, her seat was empty. To her left, Sen sat alert, his attention locked on the door closest to them. She could feel his tension, and a hand reached out to give his arm a comforting squeeze. His eyes met her own and the two shared a silent nod.

Four stops.

She can still remember the exact moment she realized her and Sen shared a mutual connection outside of their careers. She was a nosy woman, with a tendency to eavesdrop or look over one's shoulder. A familiar name often popped up on his phone and at some point, Ryangyi felt herself grow suspicious of him. It wasn’t until he finally opened up to her one drunken night that they learned of the correlation in their private lives. A common enemy, one set out to target them both. Staying together like this was either extremely smart or extremely stupid. 

Three stops.

Everytime the transit doors opened, she could feel her throat tighten. Sen shifted slightly in his seat and to other passengers it probably looked as if he were just uncomfortable in the non padded benches. But she knew, and she shared the sentiment. They were so close to being far enough from the threat of… what exactly? She knew who they were running from, but not sure the threat that was made to Sen. All she knew was her name was mentioned to him at some point, and he had shown up in a haste, demanding she pack light and leave with him. 

Two stops.

They were almost there, more and more distance being put between them and Seoul with each passing minute, yet Sen’s unease didn’t dissipate. The unease radiating from him only heightened her own anxieties. The knowledge of danger paired with the ignorance of what exactly that danger is wasn’t a good mix, and suddenly Ryangyi could feel her demeanor match her friends. She trusted him, of course. He never gave her a reason not to. I can’t tell you, not here. Let’s go. Few words were spoken in the past several hours since he appeared at her doorstep, but he had left very little room for anything but escape. 

One stop.

Sen looked over at her, and finally, he stood, taking a hold of her wrist to drag her to the door. The pair waited, his grip a little too tight on her. She ignored the discomfort, knowing he wasn’t intentionally trying to hurt her. Her bag was close to her side and she watched as his eyes continued to stay locked on the seam of the two doors in front of them, waiting for the moment it would open. Ryangyi fought the urge to ask him more questions, instead she took a step closer to his side. She didn’t know if their final destination would mark them safe or not, but it was too late to worry about either. For now, she’d let herself be led around. The train car slowed to a stop, and the doors opened. Two things she’d been observing for the past hour, but this time, they seemed to happen much slower. She wanted to look at Sen again, but her gaze was frozen on the unfamiliar scenery of their stop.

“Okay class! Please remember, your final projects are due in less than a month. If you haven’t submitted your subject matter to met yet, please do so before next Friday. And Ryangyi, please, see me before you head out.”

Kit grumbled to herself as she exited the bus, her mind fixated on her professor’s mini-lecture after class. 

“If I may be painfully obvious, I just don’t see the potential. Your last project was okay at most. Are you sure you’re ready?”

All she could think of was his words. The ones from today, from last week, last month. Despite her begging to her advisor, they insisted all the other classes were full. She just had to wait it out, ‘do her best’.

What a fucking joke. 

She entered her apartment, the music in her headphones at max volume so that her iPhone was giving her suggestions to lower it, claiming it was potentially harmful. She raided her own fridge, taking bites of various cold leftovers, reaching for a glass bottle of beer and slamming the neck skillfully against the counter to pop the top of, the chilled rim meeting her lips to take a generous sip. 

Spinning around on her heels, Kit was met face-to-chest level with a familiar figure. He was met with a loud scream as her hand instinctively released the green bottle which then crashed on the floor between them, freeing up her fingers to ball into a fist and swing up towards the chiseled jaw of her friend. His own hand quickly caught ahold of her petite wrist, and her free hand came up to pull out her earbuds.

“Kijun, what the fuck?!” He laughed, a look of amusement painted over his features, a look that she did not share. “You’re cleaning that, you know.”

“I’m not cleaning shit.” He released her arm, taking her place in front of the fridge to pull out two more bottles of beer, one for himself and the other to replace her own that he had caused her to lose. “I came to fold your clothes, showing you how nice of a gesture it is and shit, you know?” She caught herself scoffing at his statement, leaning against the counter. 

“Nice try. I’m still not folding yours, no matter how much you try to convince me..” After opening both of their bottles and handing off hers, he took several large sips, almost ifnishing off half, before going to clean the broken bottle despite his own insistence that he wouldn’t. Ryangyi hopped up onto the counter to clear up space, watching him with a pleased grin.

“At this rate, I’ll have to buy you a maid’s costume..”

“Well.. I do look great in a skirt.”
