The mortar (ural) and pestle (ulakkai) hold a significant place in Tamil history and culture, symbolizing tradition, community, and daily life.
Here’s how they connect with Tamil history :
1. Daily Life and Agriculture
The ural and ulakkai were essential tools in traditional Tamil households for grinding grains, spices, and pulses. This reflects the agrarian lifestyle of the Tamil people.
Women often sang folk songs while using these tools, creating a unique rhythm to their daily chores. These songs preserved oral traditions and reflected Tamil cultural values.
2. Cultural Significance
The mortar and pestle are often mentioned in Tamil literature, including Sangam poetry, which celebrates the tools used in domestic and agricultural life.
They symbolize unity and effort, as grinding required teamwork in some cases.
3. Religious and Ritual Importance
In Tamil temples, these tools are still used to grind herbs and prepare offerings for rituals.
Traditional medicine systems like Siddha also use a mortar and pestle to prepare herbal remedies, emphasizing their role in health and spirituality.
4. Proverbs and Folklore
Tamil proverbs such as "Uralum ulakkaiyum irundhaal thinnatha undu" (If the mortar and pestle are there, you will never go hungry) highlight the importance of these tools in sustaining life.
5. Symbol in Tamil Identity
The ural and ulakkai are seen as symbols of resilience, self-reliance, and a connection to ancestral wisdom in Tamil culture. They are still revered during festivals like Pongal, representing the abundance of harvest and food preparation traditions.
In short, the mortar and pestle are not just tools but embodiments of Tamil heritage, symbolizing a link between the past and the present.

slow intimate domestic things with simon riley!
mentions of: pure fluff, simon riley is a devoted husband, worships the ground she walks on, brief smut at the end, vaginal sex
having a slow and peaceful life with simon riley in the country side ૮ ˶ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶ ა
simon stood in front of the grill shirtless flipping the meat with ease, the tattoos that adorned his arms on display, his silver dog tag around his neck. his muscles softening up after coming back from his mission, a soft layer of fat around his stomach from lounging around and having lazy moments with you. his sweatpants hung loosely around his hips displaying the happy trail and v line that went down to his cock.
you laid on the day bed as simon grilled, he was determined to be the one that made your stomach full, to be the one to look after you. he loaded your plate with food, simon didn’t follow the traditional norms of the wife cooking, no. his whole life he promised to himself that he would work hard to provide for his wife, and now he had you, he. was determined to have you lounge around having the easiest life.
when simon took care of everything, he meant everything.
he would wake up bright and early to cook breakfast for you, the sound of bacon sizzling filling up the kitchen as he plated your food with the utmost care. simon was never one for presentation when it came to food, as long as it tasted good he didn’t care. but he cared when it came to you, which was why he meticulously placed the food in an arrangement you would like, his thick fingers readjusting the small fruits scattered on the plate. the sight was almost comical, a man made from pure muscle fussing with the presentation of a simple breakfast, scowling whenever his large hands knocked a berry off.
he would walk to your room, his steps slow and gentle making sure that the wooden floorboard underneath him wouldn’t creak. he would wake you up gently, kissing your forehead before readjusting your pillow when you sat up, draping a blanket over your lap for extra warmth.
“made yer favourite luvie.”
simon wasn’t the best with his words, slightly awkward at times so he expressed it through his actions. whenever something in the house broke down he would be the first to fix it, crouched down with tools in his hands as he focused on the task, determined to fix it to ease your stress. he didn’t see repairing things as labour, but instead removing your burdens just to make your day a little stress free.
after a long stressful day he made sure the house was clean before you got home, dishes washed, clothes folded away, and your favourite chamomile tea hot and ready on the kitchen counter. simon basically memorised your whole routine, ensuring the blankets were draped over the couch with the cushions fluffed and positioned to your liking so you could read after your bath. the moment you returned home and ate his dinner he would start the bath. ensuring that the water was up to your preferred temperature, with your favourite essential oils and candles that dimly lit the room up. he would pick the softest and fluffiest towel just for you, and hang it on the hook near the door.
he wanted to show he cared, remembering every detail so you could relax, knowing everything was taken care of.
sex was an act of worship for him, gently taking his time to kiss every single part of your body. “i love you,” he muttered as he kissed your neck, then your shoulder, then right under your breast. “‘m always yours,” his voice filled with love as he stared into your eyes. before you simon was never one to do missionary, preferring no eye contact so he can fuck and leave. with you however, he took his time, moving slowly as he peppered you with kisses, coaxing multiple organs out of you as he talked you through it.
“i know swee’heart, it’s a lot yeah? but ‘m here, jus’ let it go.”

I don't know if this goes past your rules but can you do like (greaser) x reader when someone in the gang catches y'all like making out?
HOW THEY WOULD REACT TO YOU GUYS GETTING CAUGHT MAKING OUT
Tumblr media
DARRY
He would definitely be the more secretive type when it comes to kisses mostly because all of his friends are immature
But I imagine y'all would be in the kitchen alone it's his day off and the boys are out
One thing leads to another and y'all are just being romantic and showing affection by making out
Next thing you know you hear the traditional caught-off-guard-cough-laugh
Darry looks up and sees Dally, Johnny and Ponyboy.
"Y'all enjoying yourselves?"
"Shut the fuck up Dallas."
Tumblr media
SODAPOP
He was on break at the DX and you stopped by to see him and bring him food because you wanted to hang out with your boyfriend
Y'all were in the back just hanging out be cuties
Hes flirting with you
You know giving his typical sodapop charm flashing you his million dollar smile
He kisses you a few times and it leads to a make out and y'all are just in the moment not really thinking about muchv
Then Steve walks in
cunt
"Hey so what ar- HELLO? WHAT THE FUCK?!"
Y'all both turn around and you roll your eyes in embarrassment
"Do that on your own time please."
"Shut up Steve."
Tumblr media
PONYBOY
Say your older in this maybe like 15-16 because for the first while of y'all dating you wouldn't be allowed in his room alone even with the door open Darrys just crazy like that
Y'all were in his room working on some homework or just hanging out when you totally very sneakily shut the door all the way thinking Darry won't find out because he's cooking
And start kissing
Not even two minutes later Darrys nosy ass barges in
"What did I say about the door kidd- Oh excuse me?!?!"
Y'all create distance from each other staring at him wide eyed
"I swear it isn't w-"
"be quiet Ponyboy. I have these rules for a reason, you guys can come into the living room since you can't be trusted."
"Why?"
"Y/N, don't start."
Tumblr media
Johnny
Yall were in the lot because where else would you be
You kissed him a few times and it let to a slight make out nothing crazy
Two-bit came up to tell Johnny that unfortunately Dally had been arrested for some odd reason
And the SECOND he sees you he's instantly teasing y'all
he's trying to tease you but he ends up just making it really uncomfortable
"Lord almighty, what's going on here?! Save room for Jesus, she might get pregnant!" Insert two-bit laugh wheeze
"Cut it out man."
Tumblr media
DALLAS
Y'all were at Bucks for some party and it was getting really loud
You were overstimulated, Dally was tipsy and everyone was getting on his nerves so he took you outfront for some fresh air
Dally was being Dally and talking to you and kissing you a few times and it leads to a make out
Then Steve walks out
(I imagine him and Dally are actually pretty good friends)
He starts laughing
"Uhhhh, Dal'! Y'know where Evie is?"
"Why the fuck would I know where your girlfriend is?"
"I dunno, just wonderin'."
He rolled his eyes and dramatically sighed
Tumblr media
Steve
You were at work with him trying to help him
Which actually just meant he was yelling at you for certain tools
You were getting bored he was getting frustrated because he couldn't figure out what was wrong with the car so you told him to to take a small break
So he took a break and you both just started talking and he kisses you
After he pulled away you kissed him back
Darry walks in looking for Soda
"Oh, my bad. I was just looking for Soda"
"In the back Darry."
He leaves and you laugh
Tumblr media
Two-bit
Y'all were at the drive-in just hanging out
He was bothering people yk just being two-bit
And somehow you both ended up at the drag race that Steve, Soda and Dallas were at
You were leaned up against the hood of his car and he was in front of you and you were making out
Soda comes up and laughs at y'all
"HAHAHA, Steve come look!'
Two-bit looks at him and also starts laughing because hes two-bit
And your just there like 'omfg'

I love reading your posts! They're very informative.
I don't know if you've answered this yet, but what sort of eating utensils would they use in each of the four nations and what would their dishes be made of?
Cultural Practices: Food Utensils - Water Tribe
Tumblr media
Within ATLA, we're shown that the Fire Nation and Earth Kingdom meals are eaten with chopsticks while traditional Water Tribe feasts are eaten with your hands. We never see a proper Air Nomad meal depicted in the original series, but Korra shows that Air Temple Island meals use chopsticks so I'm assuming that's a long-held tradition within Aang's culture. We also see spoons used for Water Tribe and Earth Kingdom soups/stews so I'm assuming this is probably the norm in their world.
As for what their flatware and dishware would be made from, I'm going to be doing a post for each nation.
For this post, we're covering the Water Tribe. There are a few different materials that flatware and dishware can be made of in the poles: Wood, bone, stone, clay, and ice.
Wood
Tumblr media
Cookware and utensils made from driftwood are very common in the Water Tribes. The advantages of wood are that it's readily available, easy to work with, and creates relatively lightweight tools. The drawbacks are that it's less durable and receptive to rot. The Water Tribe's wooden tools come in two different styles: Carved and Bentwood. Carved tools are created through whittling down the wood and bentwood tools are the results of using steam to bend the wood into the desired shape. Since wooden cookware is flammable, stone boiling is the norm; this is when stones are heated and placed directly into a pot of water for boiling or steaming purposes. Pictured above are two examples of Arctic wooden dishware: The tall-rimmed one is a 19th-century Yupik bentwood bowl and the shallower bowl is a 19th-century Yupik carved bowl.
Bone
Tumblr media
The second most common material in the Arctic for flatware is bone. As you can imagine, a culture oriented around hunting means their society has a surplus of different animal bones, from walrus tusk ivory to velvety moose antlers. Due to the narrowness of most animal bones, they're typically carved into eating utensils like spoons and chopsticks. While chopsticks aren't traditional to the Water Tribe, they were popularized after the 100-Year War with the invention of seaweed noodles. Walrus ivory flatware also fetches a high price in foreign markets. Pictured above: Handcrafted ivory Inuit spoons.
Stone
Tumblr media
Stone is another potential material for cookware and utensils. Unlike wood, it's much more durable and retains heat well, meaning it can be used directly over a fire. The drawbacks are that it's very heavy and difficult to carve into something useful. As such, stone cookware and utensils are rarer than wood & ivory and have a "manly" connotation amongst the Water Tribes. Sokka and Katara eat stewed sea prunes using what appear to be stone bowls and spoons owned by Bato, for example. Stone has also traditionally been used by Inuit peoples to make oil lamps for cooking and heating their homes. The most common stone used would be soapstone, which conducts heat well, although slate would probably be good for plates. Picture above: An Inuit soapstone lamp.
Clay
Tumblr media
Compared to the above materials, clay is the rarest type of dishware in the Water Tribes. For one, in the absence of a very skilled waterbender, clay can only be be dug up in the summer, when the snow is low and the ground is soft. Secondly, the ease with which they can crack makes them even more fragile than wood. However, unlike wood, clay cookware can actually be heated directly over a fire. Their ability to cook food with a better texture and richer flavor makes them highly coveted and a bit of a status symbol in the Water Tribe. Pictured above: ~1000 year old Bering Strait clay bowl and ~1700 year old Thule (ancestor to Inuit people) bowl.
Ice
Tumblr media
Flatware and dishware made of ice actually has a rather poor reputation within the Water Tribe. Given that ice-based utensils are cold, fragile, and prone to "stickiness" when they make contact with mouths and moist food, it's an understandable reputation. However, their novelty and crystalline appearance makes them very popular with non-Water Tribers. As such, creating elaborate cups and bowls of ice is common hospitality for waterbenders looking to impress guests from other nations. Picture above: An ice bowl.

I'm gonna add to my previous post because I've been ruminating on it and there's something else that I found striking about Lucanis and his relationship with Caterina and his family dynamics (and yes, this might be a coincidence, but I still find it interesting).
Grandmothers, in Italian culture, are custodians of the family traditions specifically in regards to food. They preserve and pass on family recipes. It's not unusual to hear people say "this is how my grandma made it", and families collect their own recipe books that sometimes are true archival treasures, with centuries old recipes copied by hand over and over. Sometimes they even pass on cooking tools (I inherited a cake stamp) and spice mixes. The greatest book of Italian cuisine actually references nonna's recipe books as the main source of the Italian culinary tradition. And to many of us, food is strongly associated with memories and remembrance.
It's not always so linear. My grandmas didn't pass on anything to us, there was a break in our family traditions. So my mum stole from others' nonnas recipes and built our family recipes book and we have that to inherit. She made other recipes her own, and she built a treasure for our family.
It's probably a coincidence but I find it metaphorically beautiful that Lucanis too takes it upon himself to take on this role of custodian of tradition for his family both as head of the house and First Talon, and also taking up cooking. His grandma did not have anything to pass on to him but death "I only know death", he says it himself. But he takes it upon himself to break this cycle and to be the person his grandma wasn't. He cooks, nurtures others, learns new recipes from other cultures, he steals them from other families (Emmrich), and maybe one day he will pass it on. I know not many people love that Lucanis becomes First Talon, but I like to think that in the same way, he takes the mantle and one day he starts breaking cycles there too, and making up new traditions and passing them on. He is the best suited for that job, after all.

Food in Fiction Writing
Tumblr media
Often, we structure our days around food; a family meal, the office lunch break, dinner out with friends or maybe late-night instant ramen to get you through a deadline. But how do you include these moments in fiction writing? And what can you make this say about your characters?
Food as Habit
Giving your character eating habits and tastes can really flesh them out.
Try to think about where they eat, who with, and what?
Habits make our characters come alive, giving them the sort of real interior life that readers can identify with.
Make use of their tastes in moments of emotion – after a climactic moment, do they come home and relax by cooking, or try and escape to a fancy restaurant among friends – or do they not have the energy to eat at all?
Food is a great way to show character rather than telling.
Food as Subtext
Another great way food can show instead of telling is to use it in a conversation, when people are saying one thing but meaning another.
Often, when people argue, it starts off as a small problem – like burning the dinner, or what restaurant to choose.
Use food as a starting point in conversations when people are letting out their emotions through another meaning.
Let your characters debate their marriage through a restaurant without enough vegetarian options, or show someone’s romantic interest through appreciation of a badly cooked meal.
Food as Structure
You can show a lot about the order of a character’s life through when they eat.
Meals are a very everyday moment in your story that can provide order or disorder – if your character has to meet someone for lunch, obstacles preventing this can provide tension.
Eating is often entangled with a tight sense of time, so use this to your advantage.
Even small moments of tension and disorder can add a lot to your story.
Food as Sensation
Food invites rich and flavourful description.
All our senses are engaged while eating – not just sight and taste.
Think about how you can describe the intense smell of a curry, the way it feels as you chew it, the sizzling sound of the frying pan and the bubbling of the rice.
Create a rich sensory experience in your reader, maybe try and make them hungry.
A full-bodied description will make your scene come alive.
Food as Setting
Food is rich in cultural associations and tradition.
Do some research into where you are setting your story and explore what people there eat, when, and why – your character might be eating Sil (pickled herring) in midsummer, as is the tradition in Sweden, or celebrating Diwali with Besan Ladoo and other Indian sweets.
It is important to build a sense of specificity into the food.
But don’t fall into the trap of problematic food and cultural stereotypes – a character could just as easily be eating a burrito in Manchester as in Cancun, Mexico.
Food is often a shortcut to cultural understanding.
In the same way that literature connects stories with disparate readers, food itself acts as a vehicle for empathy in the communication between cultures and communities; both food and literature connect the self to the other in an act of empathy.
The act of eating is intimate, and hunger is vulnerable.
Picture your protagonist at her weakest, then give her a big plate of meaty spaghetti bolognaise, a Styrofoam tray of late-night cheesy chips, a ripe fresh peach, a hot bowl of Pho, or maybe an ice cream sundae.
At once, the writing will be enhanced simply for all of the rich sensory detail, and we will also see this character more clearly – she is given something physical, and a tension rises between the comfort of the food and the struggle of her situation, whatever it may be.
Stories thrive on tension and its release, and food is an incredible tool to either deflate or enhance that tension.
Food is inexorably connected to humanity, and so naturally plays a significant role in literature.
Food writing offers sensuality, symbolism, tension and empathy – for your readers and your characters alike.
Even if you're not writing foodie fiction or lavish descriptions of every meal, you can still use food to help readers learn about your characters. For example:
A character you want to depict as adventurous might try unusual foods from their region, like crunchy grasshoppers or grubs for an American, or a character can show that they're stressed and busy by forgetting to eat or chowing down on prepackaged food because they don't have time to cook.
You can show readers a character's heritage or familial background by having them cook or remember beloved family recipes, or demonstrate that they're artistic by having them plate their food beautifully.
A tip for writing about food is to use all 5 senses in your descriptions to really help your reader see, smell, taste, feel, and even hear the food.
Try and avoid words that are general and can make it hard to envision something specific. Let's take an apple.
We could call it delicious and beautiful, but that doesn't help us understand the specifics of what it looks and tastes like.
But if we say that it's shiny red, that it smells fruity, tastes sweet but also puckeringly tart, and that your teeth crunch on its firm white flesh, you can almost envision it yourself.
Wine-tasting can help you find words for fleeting and elusive flavors.
Keep a book of adjectives that work well for flavors: salty, sour, sweet, sugary, sharp, spicy.
Smell is important too: vinegary, burnt, fishy, fruity.
Temperature may be a little easier: hot, warm, cool, cold, iced.
Texture: dry, slippery, hard, damp, nutty. And so on.

Katsuki’s birthday
“Katsuki Bakugo, if your ass isn’t ready in the next 15 minutes, you’re gonna be sleeping at Eijirou’s house the rest of the week cuz you WONT be allowed in this house!” You tell him with pointed look.
“I told you, you shitty woman, that I don’t want to go to some stupid birthday brunch. I want to stay home and I want YOU to cook for me while I do nothing. It’s my fucking birthday.” He shouts back.
“But that’s what we did last year! And the year before that!” You try reasoning with him.
“Yeah it’s called tradition” he says even as he stands up and starts walking over to his closet.
“Well, love muffin, traditions were meant to be broken.” You go up to him and place a kiss on his cheek.
“What the hell ever. I’m not paying for a damn thing and I’m ordering the most expensive thing they have on this stupid menu. Don’t forget your purse.” He grumbles.
You’re dressed in a nice spring dress that’s a flower pattern and all flowy. You look so adorable and then you see Katsuki and hot damn! You forget how good this man looks when he’s not in a black t shirt and joggers. Not that he doesn’t look hot as hell in that but he looks edible right now all dressed up.
“Damn big man, you got a lady. If you do, I bet I’d do stuff with you that she wouldn’t dare.” Your voice oozes cheekiness.
“My girlfriend would put your loser ass to shame! Just last night she did this thing in bed-“
You clamp your hand over his mouth. “Ok ok I get it.” You can feel his smirk against your palm. “You always take stuff to far.”
“I always finish the shit you start.” He moves your hand and wraps his arms around your waist. “I like this dress by the way. The only thing getting me through this brunch is gonna be knowing I get to take it off later.”
He bends down and presses his lips to you.
You have to pull yourself away and grab his hand to pull him behind you. “Let’s go before we are late”
“You don’t think those shitty ass friends of yours are gonna be late too? I’ve never seen them be on time for a goddamn thing”
When you guys get to the car, you walk to the passenger side and open the door for him.
“My king” and you do a little bow.
“You’re so fucking insufferable”
The smile on your face doesn’t disappear as you climb into the drivers seat.
“Where is this place anyway?” He questions as your pull off.
“On the outskirts of town. It’s a place Eiji found a while ago. He said it’s 10/10”
“Oh fuck, are we really listening to recommendations from that red head idiot?? He would eat toast smeared with dirt if you covered it in protein powder.”
“ ‘Suki he’s not that bad.”
“Tch”
Eventually you pull up the place and you can see Katsuki looking at you like you’ve lost your mind.
“Did you dumb ass get lost? This is not a restaurant.”
“Surprise!!! It’s an adventure park! They have paintball, laser tag and zip lines and stuff. They also serve food but it’s like snack type things but I though that’d hold us over til we get home so I can cook.”
You are wearing the biggest grin and your excitement it’s practically bouncing off of you.
“Oh and I brought clothes for you to change in to. I didn’t wanna ruin the surprise by telling you to dress casual….. do you like it??” You ask him.
“You’re proud of yourself aren’t you?”
“Very”
“I…. Fucking love it. Are those tools still coming cuz I’ve got ass to kick.”
You bound over the seat and hug him. “Yep they are probably already inside. I told Mina to get here early to check us in.”
He slides his hand over your face and gives you a small smile before you places a kiss on your forehead.
“You did real good baby. Thank you”
“You’re welcome hot stuff. Not let’s get in there and give those guys a taste of Pro Hero Dynamight!”
“Hell yeah!”
This asshole won every game you guys played except for laser tag and thats only cuz you guys cheated! But he deserved it, he was getting too cocky for his own good.
BUT by the end of the night, he had you feeling like the real winner🤭

I can see Idia having advanced technology like those hologram keypads in that one trailer, but for the life of me, I can’t see him knowing what a blender is. Like the concept of one would blow his mind while he types it out on his magic holograms
Tumblr media
Idia is the descendant of The King of The Underworld Hades (Who is still alive in my AU, by the way) and grew up with more technologies than most of Twisted Wonderland has due to Hades keeping a rather large number of Humans on the Isle of Woe. Many of the technologies the Shrouds have access to cannot be found anywhere else because Humans happily gave their ideas and technological abilities to the Shrouds as a way of thanks for the safety Hades provided to them.
Idia and Ortho have their screens and magical holograms because the last population of Humans lived on the Isle of Woe and Idia has been taught quite a bit of his own technological prowess thanks to Hades and the pre-existing things the Shrouds have available to them that they have not yet released to the rest of Twisted Wonderland.
Food oriented creations (blender, mixer, air-fryer, fryer, microwave, ect) were not created yet as Humans were the primary cooks and inventors of Twisted Wonderland, so when they died out, such things were never seen as needed by the other species that make up the general population so they were never invented. Some species and places did carry on the culinary traditions of Humans, but without the need for non-magical tools, they never had to make things to aid in the process of cooking.
Technologies like phones were still in very early development when Humans finally died out, but these things were useful to the masses of Twisted Wonderland and so they were advanced where other technologies were not. Things that could be used with magic were advanced and most non-magic tech was left behind by the monster-men of Twisted Wonderland.
Idia is going to have a field-day when it is his turn to protect the NRC Human. Not only does this Human have knowledge of technologies beyond the world of Twisted Wonderland, they also have their own ideas for things that could really be of great use to the people of Twisted Wonderland.
Hades- who is asking/receiving constant updates from his descendants- will happily use his own resources to help Idia prototype and craft these technological ideas. He will do this both because he wants to befriend this Human- as he deeply misses Humans in general- but so he can also benefit from these ideas. There is little as inventive as a Human looking to make their own lives easier as they can't rely on magic to do things for them or solve their problems. He will ensure there are magic-fueled items- for the general public of Twisted Wonderland- and non-magic items so the little Human can use them as well.
First thing on that Human's list is Heating-pads and heated-blankets. Not only will such things be useful for the Human to have (ie. during the winter months/during their own hormonal cycle) but it would also be incredibly useful for these monster-men to have. Naga and other cold-blooded species who need to sun in the mornings would benefit greatly from a heated blanket that they can use to warm up their snake halves. Species that struggle with heat retention (Centaur/Cervitaur types, Earth Nymphs, and Gnolls) would benefit from an external heat source in winter.

What is Witchcraft?
Witchcraft is a spiritual practice rooted in intention, energy work, and nature-based rituals. It’s not tied to any single religion—some witches are Wiccan, others are secular, and many blend cultural or ancestral traditions into their craft.
Core Elements of Witchcraft:
• Intentionality: Every spell or ritual begins with focused intent.
• Correspondences: Using herbs, crystals, colors, or moon phases that align with your purpose.
• Ritual Tools: Items like candles, wands, athames, tarot, and cauldrons can support magical workings—but aren’t required.
• Nature Connection: Many witches observe seasonal cycles (like Sabbats or moon phases) to harmonize with natural energies.
• Shadow Work & Empowerment: Witchcraft often involves inner healing, confronting personal truth, and reclaiming power.
Types of Witches:
• Green Witch – works with herbs and plants
• Kitchen Witch – practices magic through cooking
• Cosmic Witch – uses astrology and celestial energies
• Eclectic Witch – draws from many traditions freely
• Hearth Witch – focuses on home-based rituals and protection
Witchcraft is deeply personal. Your path is your own to explore.

I grew up in a family of staunch Republicans. My mother, a very traditional lifelong Republican, voted against Donald Trump twice after observing what took place during his first administration. My father and paternal grandparents, on the other hand, followed the Republican Party and Trump down the MAGA path and continue to support him.
I remember becoming acutely aware, even at age 8, that my family had divided itself. Before Trump, visits to my paternal grandparents’ house were characterized by spending time on the lake learning to swim, my grandpa teaching me how to fish, and early morning runs together. After Trump was elected, Fox News blared in my grandparents’ living room as my mom and I cooked ramen in their guest house so they would not be provoked by our “smelly food.”
Everything that they had celebrated before, like my dreams of becoming a writer and my mother’s obvious Asian immigrant identity, became politicized when Trump became president. They even began to distrust something as innocent as my new Amazon Alexa, which they thought was a tool that the “deep state” was using to monitor our conversations.
Our visits became less frequent and less cozy and warm, and I watched my grandparents become socially isolated from us and the rest of our family and their friends. Eventually, I made it past their growing contempt and bitterness for previously accepted ideas and people, into a quiet, if uneasy, acceptance of what they now believed. When they talked about their politics or made ignorant comments, I would smile uncomfortably and say nothing, afraid of putting more strain on my already fractured family.
Over time, I had to let go of the childish belief that I could bring them back. I suppose the helplessness I felt in this situation is what inspired my passion to reach out to those with different political views and, later, to try to understand and master the skill of diplomacy through participating in Model United Nations and student government in high school. But when my college acceptances began to arrive — first Harvard, then Brown, Stanford, Columbia and many other prestigious universities — the wounds were reopened.
“Harvard? Isn’t that a liberal school?” was the first thing my grandparents asked when I broke the news to them over FaceTime. “What is it even good for?”
I was shocked by those six words. After everything I had done to secure this achievement, I could not believe that was their reaction.
This, as well as my father’s silence, was my breaking point.

How to Cook a Corpse in Cannibalism and Make it Consumable:
Tumblr media
How to cook it
1. Gather Your Tools : Make sure you have a sharp knife, a boning knife, and a cleaver. Having a good cutting board is also essential.
2. Start with the Right Position : Place the body on its back to begin. This gives you access to the legs and belly.
3. Identify the Joints: Look for natural joints where you can cut easily. This will help you separate the limbs without too much force.
4. Remove the Legs: Cut around the joints of the front legs first, then move to the back legs. Be sure to cut through any connective tissue.
5. Break Down the Body: Once you have the legs off, you can start working on the body. Remove the ribs and cut through the backbone if needed.
6. Sectioning: You can divide the body into sections like chops, roasts, or ground meat depending on how you plan to cook it.
7. Practice Clean Cuts: Always aim for clean cuts to avoid tearing the meat, which can affect texture and presentation.
8. Safety First: Always practice proper hygiene and safety measures while handling raw meat.
9. Store Properly: If you're not cooking immediately, make sure to store any leftover parts in airtight containers in the fridge or freezer.
10. Enjoy Cooking: Once you've got your cuts ready, explore different recipes to enjoy your corpse!

EXTRA (INVITATION FOR GUESTS)
• When it comes to preparing a corpse for guests, the focus shifts to creating a memorable experience that not only delights the palate but also fosters connection and celebration among everyone present. Here are some elegant ideas for carrying out this ritual in honor of your guests:
1. Stylish Invitation: Start with an invitation that reflects the nature of the event. Opt for an elegant design that includes details about the dinner and its significance, building anticipation among attendees.
2. Welcoming Atmosphere: Prepare the space where the celebration will take place. Use decorations that highlight the theme, such as centerpieces with fresh flowers, candles, and natural elements that evoke warmth and hospitality.
3. Presentation of the Pig: When it's time to serve, present the pig in a spectacular manner. Consider serving a whole roasted pig as a centerpiece, adorned with fresh fruits or aromatic herbs. This is not only visually impressive but also invites guests to participate in the serving process.
4. Guided Tasting: Offer a brief explanation of the preparation process and the ingredients used. This can include stories about family or cultural traditions related to pig preparation, enriching the culinary experience.
5. Beverage Pairing: Accompany the meal with a selection of drinks that complement the flavors of the corpse. Robust red wines or craft beers can be excellent options, and offering a guided tasting can make the experience even more special.
6. Interaction and Participation: Invite your guests to participate in the ritual. They could help serve dishes or share their own experiences related to food and culinary traditions. This creates an atmosphere of camaraderie and connection.
7. Themed Desserts: When it comes to preparing a pig for guests, the focus shifts to creating a memorable experience that not only delights the palate but also fosters connection and celebration among everyone present. Here are some elegant ideas for carrying out this ritual in honor of your guests:
8. Personalized Thank-You Gifts: As guests prepare to leave, consider offering small personalized gifts as mementos of the event, such as jars of spices used in dinner or handwritten recipes.
9. Collective Reflection: At the end of the night, take a moment to reflect together on the shared experience. You might invite each guest to share a word or memory related to food and community.
10. Elegant Farewell: Conclude the celebration by thanking your guests for their presence and reminding them how important it is to share special moments around the table.
By incorporating these elements into your ritual of preparing a corpse, you will create an elegant and meaningful experience for your guests, filled with memorable moments and deep connections. Enjoy your celebration!

Witches & Witchcraft: Types & Definitions
There is an abundance of types of witches, some being more common than others, for example, death witch or hedge witch. I have provided the different types of witches with a brief description/definition of what they study, believe and tools most commonly used for each.
The types of witchcraft is entirely up to the individual which they prefer to do. One person may only follow on type of magick whereas another may follow several. Listed are a handful of the many kinds, but I'm listing the most common/known types of magick/witchcraft that people fall into.
I have grouped some witches together as they fit together under the same or similar definitions.
Tumblr media
Types of Witches
Religious witches;
Christian, Satanic (Theistic), Laveyan Satanic, Hellenic, Celtic and Wiccan, etc. are witches that follow a primary belief system and incorporate their religion into the craft.
Non-Religious witches;
Secular - doesn't work with [a] deity(ies).
Science - (also a craft type), uses metaphysical and scientific fads and theories mixed together.
Other types of witches;
Solitary - works alone and is not part of a coven. Won't typically work with other witches for spell work or any part of their practice.
Eclectic - a practice that includes multiple practises from different areas. A mixture of all practices, may practise one more than another, or all equally.
Hereditary/Generational - a witch who is born into a family whom practice the craft. The term 'Blood witch' is often a hot topic of controversy as to whether it makes one a more powerful witch.
Traditional - a type that is based on honouring the traditional ways of magick, which also ties in nicely with generational/hereditary witches.
Chaotic/Chaos - a witch who utilizes new, non-traditional and unorthodox methods. It's still relatively new and highly individualistic practice while still drawing from common forms of magick.
Tumblr media
Types of Witchcraft/Magick
Green Witch; A witch who uses natural magick, such as creating blends of different plants, or primarily using herbs and/or crystals spells in their craft. Tools mostly consist of herbs, crystals, stones, flowers, soil or other greenery.
Hedge Witch; Also know as an astral witch, this type of magick is orientated around spiritual work such as astral projection, lucid dreaming, spirit work, healing and out-of-body magick. Tools mostly consist tarot cards, runes, pendulum, stones, crystal ball, mirrors & candles.
Dream Witch; Mindful and internal magickal practice mainly based from interpreting dreams and/or engaging in lucid dreaming. Practises used to 'de-code' symbols and messages in the dream world can be used similarly to how one would use divination techniques. Tools mostly consist of dream catchers, candles, books of glossaries of symbols.
Sea/Ocean; Derived from materials and abstract ideas involving ocean and the oceanic world. Sea or ocean magick can be worked with by using things found on or relating to a beach/lagoon. A sea witch might draw their energy from such tools. Tools commonly consist of driftwood, pebbles/stones, seashells, ocean water, bones, seaweed, candles.
Storm/Weather; magick used through combining one's energy with the weather; most commonly rain. Weather witches will collect different ingredients provided by the weather, absorb energy from storms, manipulate winnds, or perhaps predict the weather. Tools most commonly consist of rain/snow water, symbols/weather maps, crystals.
Cottage/Hearth; Magick that is weaved and worked or embedded into mundane tasks around the house or for loved ones. Cottage magick is usually worked into cleaning, hobbies or cooking. Tools commonly consist of essential oils, incense, bells, flowers, cleaning utensils, spices and herbs.
Tea Witch; Creating blends of teas for protection, remedies or even to use for tea-leaf divination. Tools commonly consist of tea, herbs, waters, spices.
Tech Witch; Use of technology in the craft, mostly based through phones or computers. Mostly used for storing of information, grimoires, spell books and Book of Shadows/diaries. Tools consist of apps on the phone, digital sigils, online blogs and pages.
Garden/Flora; Mostly (if not all) focused on herbal and botanical measures. Many garden witches have their own garden and plant flowers and herbs to draw in energy for their home and to include in rituals and spells. Tools commonly consist of flowers, soil, seeds, greenery, twigs/tree branches, leaves.
Elemental; Using all 4 (or 5) elements in an honouring or acknowledging form. A witch can choose to work with all, or singular elements. One may have a dedicated area on their alters to a particular elements. Tools consist of anything related to said element.
Faery/Fae; Magick for those who communicate with, and/or work with the Fae. Those whom work with fae may also leave offerings regularly as thanks for the assistance of a faery in their spell work. Tools commonly consist of anything sweet, sigils, offerings.
Spirit; A practice which an individual will perform spell work in conjunction with (or the help of) any manner of spirit, including Ouija, demon spirits, spiritual contact of any kind, working with ancestors. Tools commonly consist of crystals, bells, incense, Ouija boards, tarot cards, pendulums, sigils.
Draconian: The use of dragons and dragon imagery; whether it be trough astral matters or in spells and rituals. May also be connected with dragon spirits on their journey. Tools commonly consist of dragons art, statues, candles.
Seasonal; Utilizing and drawing energy from specific time periods of the year for their magick. One individual may feel more powerful at a particular time of year. It can also be spread out into the 4 seasons. Tools commonly consist of herbs related to certain seasons, stones, ruins and the weather.
Music; Can be through singing, humming, playing an instrument, creating music or having it on during spell work to add energies. Tools consist of speakers, instruments, voice, chimes, lyrics & sheet music.
Art & Craft; Anything from painting to knitting to building something. Tools consist of anything you can craft with.
Sigils; Working majorly with sigils and the intent that can be put into them to activate their power. Tools commonly used are pens, paper, makeup, candles.
Astronomy/Space/Luna; Correlates their belief in conjunction with the planets, stars and/or moon. Versed in moon phases and tend to do spell work at night rather than day time. Tools commonly used are horoscopes, calendars, charts, moonlight, moon water.
Energy; Those who prefer to do magick through energy exercises and manipulation rather than many physical tools or materials. This may also include aura work. The only tools needed for this type is yourself.
Crystal; Magick that is worked commonly with stones and crystals. The practise may include chakra balancing, crystal meditation and even spell work or rituals. Extensive knowledge of stone, including how to identify them. Tools most commonly used are crystals, books, grimoires and stones.
Literacy; Those who practise through books and literature - studying the craft after the 'beginner' phase of learning. Tools are books, poems, written work.

baking + roommates || Leon Secret Santa || gift for @chesue00
cw: gn!reader, re2r!Leon, strengthening friendships with like… a crush mixed in there, au where there was no zombies and Leon got to be happy in RC as a rookie :3 tooth rotting fluff make sure to book a dentist appointment
I like to think Leon can cook well enough but can’t bake for shit <3 he gets flour EVERYWHERE
Anyway, I hope you like what I’ve written (it’s my first time writing Leon so I’m hoping he’s not too ooc + I haven’t written in some time so I might be a little rusty :(() and thank you so much to the people behind @leonsecretsanta for hosting this event :>
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Leon had his fingers and toes crossed, knocked on any wood surface and whispered prayers that he’d been signed up for something simple. It's his first Christmas at the station and, as tradition, the staff were throwing a small holiday party. Everyone had a part to play, picked from a hat that acted more like decoration than its intended use, and when the time came to pull names, Leon, of course, got the only thing he couldn't do: baking.
And he couldn’t even just buy some sweets either! "Against the rules," his fellow officers said, which was fair, but definitely put the rookie between a rock and a hard place. So that’s why he’s here, staring intently at his phone, a short, kind text to his roomie that he hoped didn't relay how desperate he was. Hey, do you by chance know how to bake?
He sure hopes you do. You’re really his only hope for this. It’s not like he has a spouse or mother like his coworkers that he could go to for help. Hell, he doesn’t really even have any friends in this city yet!
The vibrate in his hand makes his heart beat faster than he’d like to admit, and as he reads what you’ve responded with, Leon couldn’t help but do a little mental cheer.
I do actually. Why, you wanna learn and butter up your police buddies?
— — —
You’d be lying if you said you weren’t surprised at how close your tease was to the truth, but the main point stood: Leon wanted to learn how to bake, and you were more than willing to help.
Honestly, bonding with your roommate wasn’t on your bingo card this year, what with how different your schedules were. You barely saw each other throughout the day, and when you did it was always quick hellos and good mornings. So to finally experience the ‘roommate experience’ you’d hear so often in media, you were pretty stoked.
The door opened just as you were finished pulling out everything you needed, that familiar soft and friendly smile greeting you as he walked through the door.
“Hey,” he said, the corner of his mouth tilting up a little more once Leon spotted you. Blues the colour of snowflakes scanned behind you at the collection of ingredients and baking tools, “thank you. Again, I mean, I know it was a little… a lot of a short notice. I really appreciate it.”
The smile you gave back was much like his, soft and kind, “it’s not a problem, really. I hope cupcakes is sufficient enough for the party?”
“More than enough,” Leon replied, a small, relieved breath leaving his lips. After setting down his work bag back in his room and freshened up a bit, the blond returned to your side, glancing curiously over your shoulder at the cookbook you were reading. You’re not sure if he noticed, but the proximity had you tensing just a little. Not out of uncomfortability, but rather because he was just so close and so warm and hot damn he smelt good too. You’re almost tempted to ask what cologne or soap he uses, only to bit your tongue, feeling it too weird to ask such a thing.
“Alright, so, baking is pretty easy as long as you got the recipe to follow and some common sense,” you started, moving on from the momentary fawning you had, pulling the metal bowl forward and handing it to him, “but there are some tips to it. Like starting with all the dry ingredients first.”
You sounded so sure, so confident, Leon thought, and it had him thinking it made you just a little more attractive. He’s sure he’d think the same if you’d been stuttering over yourself, but watching you take charge and teach him felt almost natural to him. He liked to learn and follow by example.
Leon gave his full attention as you showed him all the little tricks with baking, like how to properly measure dry ingredients, which measuring cup to use and so on. It was a lot, but he was a fast learner, something you commented on as well, which boosted the blond’s ego minimally.
He was only pulled out of patting himself on the back for appearing competent in front of you after you handed him the electric mixer with just the order to mix the dry ingredients. Well, how hard could that be? Sure, he’s never used one, but he’s seen people use them on the television. So, he tilts the bowl a little, sticks the beaters in and turns on the blender.
You caught him a second too late, the sound of the mixer drowning out the call of his name. And just like that, your roommate has covered himself in an almost comedic amount of flour.
Leon shuts the mixer off, and it’s silent between the both of you for a moment, as if it’s taking him a moment for the events to sink in. And boy when it does, he looks to you with an apologetic smile that’s some kind of mix between sheepish and dorkish.
“Ah-ha… sorry,” you didn’t think he could get any cuter, but the you spotted a faint blush on his cheeks. That was enough for you to crack, the sounds of your laughter filling the small kitchen.
Well, he didn’t expect you to laugh, but that’s better than you sighing deeply and being irritated with him. And honestly, it is a harmless situation, so he couldn’t help himself when he started to chuckle alongside you.
“I know it’s your first time baking, but the flour is suppose to stay in the bowl, Leon,” you say, your giggles dying down finally, though your smile remains. God, it’s been awhile since you had this much innocent fun.
Leon settles down too, wiping some of the flour from his face, glancing down at his powdered covered hand. “You don’t say,” he says, and without even thinking he flicks that excess flour at you, the lighthearted moment momentarily relaxing him as if he was with a good friend.
Leon felt his heart stop - now why did he do that? Why did he do that!? Sure, you two are friendly, and he’s sweet on you a little, but you’re not exactly that close. What he just did is what good friends playfully do.
“I, uh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to-,” his awkward rambling is silenced by a return fire, a puff of flour from the bowl adding to the existing sheen of white already on him. When he cracks his eyes back open he sees you biting back another laugh, residue on your fingers pinning the crime on you, “okay, I deserved that.”
“Damn right you did,” you smiled, teeth and all. You really were just a ray of sunshine, bright and happy. Leon couldn’t have won the roommate jackpot better than he did with you - you’re fun, have a sense of humor, and super kind. “Next tip about baking: shit can get messy.”
“Ain’t that the truth,” Leon agreed, wiping more of the flour off, this time brushing it into the sink. Most of it landed on him, so clean up wouldn’t be a huge pain in the ass, but clean up comes last cause a new mess is never off the table.
“Mhm, now, let me show you how to actually mix things without painting the kitchen in grains of sugar that’ll stay for weeks,” gently taking the mixer from him, you position it in the bowl, turning it on the first level (unlike him who put it on max), and begin to mix. “See how I’m not covered head to toe?” you tease, twisting the bowl with one hand while handling the mixer in the other. Leon chuckled under his breath while nodding. Something told him you might tease him about this for a long while.
After a few moments you stopped and handed it off to him, “now you try.”
As you suspected, he picked it up easily enough after watching, so well that you mentally patted him on the back. It was smooth sailing after that, mainly just following the recipe and mixing everything. You made sure to comment here and there about under mixing and over mixing and where the sweet spot was for this process.
With the batter poured in the tin and stuck in the oven, all that either you or Leon could do was sit and talk for a little. “You know, this has been pretty fun. Who knew, right?”
“It can be frustrating too, but yeah, overall, baking is fun,” you agree, “some even do it for that precise reason, because they find such joy in it.”
To Leon, that made sense, and he could see why a lot of people were like that. “Do you? Find joy in baking, I mean,” he found himself asking, not just to keep the conversation going, but because he found himself actually wanting to learn more about you.
You shrug a little, “to an extent. I don’t bake often, but there’s always the reward when what I make comes out good.”
He nods again, and a sudden question slips from his lips, “would you be willing to bake with me again?” He asked, a lopsided grin on his face. It was clear though he was a little nervous to ask, “without the mess, of course.”
Of course, you were a little surprised. You didn’t think this would be a reoccurring thing, yet you remember how fun it was to teach him, and the small moment you had with him. Perhaps he enjoyed his time with you as much as you did? You felt like you grew closer with him too, and you wanted nothing more than to be a real friend to him.
“Yeah… yeah that would be nice. I’ll show you how to make cookies, how about that?”
“Okay. Yeah, I’d like that,” he nodded, his smile widened a bit. He was looking forward to it, he gets to learn a skill, spend time with you and gets to see you in your element. It’s a win all around.
The next day when Leon brought in his share of the party, everyone teased him a little on the poorly iced cupcakes (you threw him in the deep end once they cooled, something about how his colleagues would think he ‘cheated’ by getting someone else to make them if they didn’t look like a newbie baker made them) but despite their appearance, everyone said they tasted good.
Leon was all too happy to reply that his friend and roommate helped him.
And, of course, he thinking about how much he was looking forward to making those cookies with you too someday soon.

id love to know more about William!!! he seems like such a little shit and I adore him already
Of course!
William "Billhook" Farrier first slunk onto my drawing canvas when i was cooking up my Bahr Ezadir project and needed a straw man to explore set pieces with, but I enjoyed thinking about him a lot so he became Evaric's brother (and I eventually put some of my other medieval fantasy boys in the basket too so now they're a family).
Tumblr media
He's a thief! A traveller, a pirate, an explorer, a ne'er do well, but there's a heart of (tarnished, scratched, dented) gold in there somewhere that gets the better of him when it comes to protecting friends and family.
He's well-travelled thanks to his life of adventure and crime and steals as many hearts as he does coins without so much as a glance over his shoulder.
He'll give everyone the benefit of the doubt except his big brother Cohle, and neither of them will admit they're both as awful as each other in their own special ways, but Bill has one high horse to sit on in that he always tries to mend the bridges he almost burns.
Bits and bobs:
He's the only one of the brothers that could go toe to toe with Evaric as adults and have a shot at beating him in a fight, but they've never seriously tried to find out.
His nickname is from the traditional forester/agricultural tool that in Britain (and possibly other european regions, idk!) had designs specific to a local area. The one closest to me is a Shropshire/Shifnal billhook! He still carries one with him in lieu of a dagger or handaxe.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billhook
Bill can't cast magic at all, not even a spell scroll, and boy has he tried. It'll never happen.
Neither Alice nor her first husband and their sons have freckles. William and Deor do. Alice has never acknowledged this. You shouldn't either 🫵
