The pastor from the nearest neighborhood congregation (I think they're Methodist maybe) posted on the neighborhood Facebook group that their musician/accompanist had to go to the hospital and did anyone know anybody who was willing to play for the service on Sunday?
And nobody had said anything so I messaged the pastor that if he hadn't found anybody, I could probably do it as long as they weren't expecting anything amazing. I played the piano in church a lot growing up but since Mormon congregations are all volunteer, I consider myself a "competent amateur" since I didn't even study music in college or anything
Anyhow, I met with him and he showed me the music and I think I picked it up enough to play tomorrow. And then he was like "oh by the way, we pay the church musicians $125 a week" and I was very much just like ? ??? ????
I mean. Like I said, I'm used to Mormon congratulations where literally everyone is a volunteer, including the pastor, so the concept of getting paid to play church music is so foreign to me. It makes total sense! But I can tell that my brain is like. You're going to pay me???? For church music???
Anyway we'll see how it goes tomorrow. He said he's also looking for a backup musician for another church he preaches at and might want me next week too. Which, I'm not opposed. It would get me actually practicing piano and organ again.

Meeting with the Renlunds
I met with Elder Kevin Hamilton and he offered to walk me over to Elder Renlund's office for my next appointment as it would help me get through security more easily.
Elder Hamilton greeted the secretary and explained he found me wandering around and helped me find where I was going.😄 Then he said that we became friends when he did a stake conference in Florida and I have a standing invitation to visit every time I'm in Utah.
At that moment, Elder Renlund steps out of his office door and proclaims, "I trump that invitation. He gets to see ME when he's in town." 😁
It was a humorous way to be handed off from the one to the other.
—————————
Elder Renlund asked if I was in town for that conference in Provo (the Gather Conference)? Y'all, I was impressed that he knew about it! Great credit to the conference organizers!
—————————
I reminded the Renlunds that the last time I visited, they gave me a book they co-wrote. When I saw it was about the Melchizedek Priesthood, I was like "Go Ruth!" There's no reason a woman shouldn't write about the priesthood.
This time I brought them a gift, a copy of a book which contains a chapter I wrote.
Me: I'm a little nervous giving it to you because I wrote it from my viewpoint. I was very honest and that means not everything matches the Church's view. Some things about church are hard for me.
Dale: We will read this.
Me: Now I'm even more nervous!
Ruth: Don't be nervous. You shouldn't be nervous about telling the truth.
Dale: They're your thoughts and perspectives.
Ruth: Others have done the same, why not you?
Whew, I felt much better after that exchange.
I also shared that writing my chapter led me to realize I may have an eating disorder, and how that led to an official diagnosis and now I'm in therapy. I'm on a journey to better mental and physical health. They were genuinely interested in this development and kind in their support.
—————————
Elder Renlund mentioned that when he presides over a meeting and opens things up for questions, it's not unusual for LGBTQ topics to come up. As we spoke, the Pride flag got mentioned.
I shared a conversation I had with my friend who recently retired from a 20-year career with the U.S. military. My friend doesn't wear a US flag pin at church. He is there for religion, not patriotism. Anyone who wants to know if he is patriotic should look at his life. Plus, America does some things that aren't compatible with what Jesus taught. My friend wants to keep the two separate.
When it comes to the Pride flag, I feel a little different. No one questions whether Americans are welcome at church. We don't have a history of harsh teachings against Americans. We need to be intentional in signaling that we welcome LGBTQ+ people.
The Pride flag represents queer people and it goes where they go, which means it is there when people fight for Civil Rights or run their business, and however they live their life. This causes some to see the flag as representing things they don't like because some queer people make choices they don't agree with. I think when the average member displays the Pride flag, they are indicating that queer people are welcome and wanted, that they are a safe person to talk with. But for a leader, some will see his wearing the flag as endorsing all the things people associate with it.
Elder Renlund responded that it's like Black Lives Matter. Of course Black lives matter, but the political movement that grew up around that phrase can be seen by some as controversial, so if a leader displays a Black Lives Matter flag people may question or assume he supports all of it.
He went on to say that he appreciates my friend's position because when they lived in South Africa, a friend of his said, "We South Africans don't like Americans telling us what to do." What registered with Elder Renlund is if what his friend sees is an American, then he needs to change so what his friend sees is a disciple of Christ.
—————————
Elder Renlund asked what else is going on in my life and I shared that I'm now on the Affirmation Board of Directors. It's interesting because I don't seek to do things in the LDS/LGBTQ space, but the Lord provides opportunities and I accept them.
His response was, "You can help others and that's what I think God wants you to do."
—————————
They asked how my parents are doing and I mentioned my mom's calling in her ward.
"Your mom is the Primary chorister?" Elder Renlund shared that he is the chair of the committee putting together the new hymnal. "I think the war in heaven started over a new hymnal. Everybody has an opinion." 🤣
—————————
Ruth and I spoke about a person we're both related to. It's a man who was her uncle, and he was married to my grandma and they had 2 children together. He died in World War II and my grandma remarried and had 2 more children.
My grandmother was sealed to her first husband but spent the bulk of her life with her second husband. When my granddad passed away, he was also sealed to his wife, she is sealed to two husbands.
Elder Renlund said that in life there is an asymmetry, men can be sealed to multiple women but women are limited to being sealed to only one man. However in death, all are equal, everyone can be sealed to all those they were ever married to.
This means we don't have a clear understanding of what it's like in Heaven. Since all three of these people are sealed to each other, and they have promises made to them, no blessing will be denied to them. We don't know how that works, but we are convinced of the promises and see them afar off.
Elder Renlund went on to say those who have "LGBTQ issues" and try to be faithful are heroes and the Lord really will bless them.
I brought up that single people face the same questions about their situation as queer people.
His response was of all those who are single and members of the Church, the majority are not active. He doesn't think God is going to harshly judge them. But he thinks God holds real blessings in store for those who try to be faithful. I thought that was interesting, "try" is enough to qualify.
Elder Renlund says there will be a sorting and figuring out who is sealed to whom, but we don't believe anyone will be forced. All wounds will be healed and injustices made whole, and no blessings withheld from the righteous.
—————————
We had met for nearly an hour and needed to wrap up. Elder Renlund proposed, "Let's get a photo." Sister Renlund commented, "I just came from the hair dresser so this works out well." 😂
As we walked out of the office, Sister Renlund explained that he has to go practice his conference talk using the teleprompter so there isn't much wiggle room for extending our visit. She also joked that you'd think these men would have the use of the teleprompter mastered, but they have to practice before every General Conference. 😆
—————————
It was generous of them to take an hour out of their day to spend it in conversation with me

THE NEGLECTED
Tumblr media
Disclaimer: I am not a professional writer and English isn't my first language so pardon me if there's any grammatical error.(In this, The Potters survived.) Trigger Warning/s: Angst
『••✎••』
❝ ne•glect — fail to care for properly. ❞
Brad Meltzer once said, "No matter how far we come, our parents are always in us". The case was different for Madeleine Black, but she just prefers to be called Madeleine, she refuses to be called by her last name.
Black, the last name that keeps reminding her that her father left her for another family. She's practically carrying the burden of her family's name. Being raised by Narcissa Malfoy and Lucius Malfoy, it was quite eventful. Still, she was lucky that they chose to keep her, unlike her father.
Madeleine never got to meet her mother as her mother died just right after giving birth to her. Unknown to her mother, Sirius Black was sleeping with someone else behind her back. He was sleeping with Remus Lupin, his current husband. Just as much as she supports the LGBTQ community, he still cheated on her mother.
On the 25th of November, Madeleine went to Hogsmeade to celebrate her birthday, alone. No one remembered that it was her birthday, what a pathetic life, right? It has always been like that. Just as she entered the Three Broomsticks, she walked passed by the Potters and the Blacks. She did her best to ignore them, she was successful. As she sat on a vacant spot, she could practically feel eyes staring at her. She knew that it was them. Yet she didn't let that disturb her peace.
As much as she wants to deny the fact that she doesn't want her father in her life, deep inside she knows that she just wants her parents. She wants her family. She wants her family that will take care of her and love her. She just wants to experience Sirius Black taking care of her, something that he wasn't able to do. Oh, how she hate him and his family. She won't be able to do anything about the current situation, she knows that he'll choose his new family, instead of her. To be fair, it is too late to even welcome him back if he tries to.
After some time, the feeling of eyes staring at her stop, which made her glad. Even after 16 years of living without his biological father, it still pains to even hear him having fun, as if no one is missing. As if his family is complete, without her. Madeleine tried her best to keep her tears from dripping down her face, yet she failed. How could he have fun and act so carefree knowing his daughter is just few tables away? His daughter that he failed to love and look after for. Curse him.
『••✎••』
A/N : Lol, first time uploading an angst here. I've been reading so much fanfictions about Sirius Black's daughter and shit. Should I do a Part 2 of this? Feels like I'm leaving y'all with a cliffhanger if I don't do one, lmao. Anyways, it has been a long time since I posted here, I hope I'll get more ideas on what to write.
Reblogs are appreciated!

Welcome to my digital diary, I Don't Know What I Want!
I live in Florida, I am a queer, Afro-Latina woman, working in corporate America and living with Bipolar II disorder (unmedicated). I have many thoughts and need a place to put them. I enjoy writing and it always makes me feel better, I'm not great at it but I'm actively trying to get better!
My goal is to write unfiltered, I'm interested in writing essays down the line but not quite there yet. This will mostly be a place for ramblings about life as a plus sized woman in her mid-twenties trying to navigate the world the best way i know how, i will also share thoughts on things that i enjoy (books, movies and music)
I am in therapy so i will share and update about my sessions every Thursday to help me with progress.
I want to make it clear that this is a safe space for anyone! I am extremely passionate about women's rights, i believe that black lives matter, and that all LGBTQ+ lives and voices are important.
I don't want to be ignorant but there might be a time where something i post can be deemed that way and i have no qualms with being called out/corrected, i just ask that it is done in a way that isn't condescending.
All love always❤️

Hi there! Asking you this question because nothing escapes your notice when it comes to narrative parallels. Did you notice how in FFXVI authors purposefully wrote Dion x Joshua as a parallel to Clive x Jill? Same backgrounds as childhood sweethearts (something memorable happened between Dion and Joshua for them to have such affection, trust and admiration for each other), same common trauma, thinking the other was dead for decades, same guilt and wish of redemption at the cost of their lives, Anabella destroying both their homes. When it comes to specific scenes, there is the recurring romance trope of watching the night sky while thinking about each other with longing (typical SE romantic scene), the hugs in the same scene in Stonhyr, a strong symbolism with Metia and the Moon that is a recurring presence in their scenes together or when apart but thinking about each other in the same moment. Even in the scene where Phoenix and Bahamut are fighting, Metia and the Moon are visible on the background. Also red (Metia) and white (Moon) are part of their matching color schemes: Clive/Joshua = black/red and Jill/Dion = white/dark blue. It's not a coincidence that authors wrote Dion x Terence as a parallel to Joshua x Jote, a pairing with clear power imbalance and founded on worshipping/adoration/absolute loyalty (on Jote's part just like Terence) that never really sailed. Both Dion/Joshua freed Terence/Jote from their duties with a last mission. Their farewell scene was kinda rushed and anticlimatic. And it's not a case that authors wrote Dion x Joshua as a parallel of the main endgame ship. It's pretty clear that euphoric as they are for lgbtq+ representation, Dion x Terence fans can't see beyond their nose and didn't notice or are in denial about the actual purpose of this ship. Authors basically used Dion x Terence as testing material for the audience. To receive feedback on the introduction of a gay ship without going full force and presenting said ship as a main one. Afraid of the backlash of the homophobic audience, they chose an invisible ship because Dion x Joshua was going to take too much focus to be ignored. Now that we know that Dion's character was positively welcomed in the fandom, nothing prevents them from developing Dion x Joshua in an hypothetical DLC/expansion/sequel. The foundations are already there, these two characters clearly have history together, their feelings for each other suggest there is a story that still needs to be unfolded. Terence already served his purpose and as a matter of facts, was easily cast aside as if he never existed. He's basically irrelevant to Dion's storyline, while without Joshua he wouldn't even be alive, he'd have never met Clive and become an ally. On a side note, Terence never interacts with other characters, most time he just stands there as part of the background. He doesn't have dedicated side missions and we don't even see him in the epilogue. Authors clearly didn't plan for him to be important, they had him and Dion breaking up and that's the last we see of him. Definitely not the treatment they'd give a character they plan to bring over to an hypothetical dlc/sequel. Thanks for reading!
Look, I'm sorry you don't like canon, but Dion and Terrence are literally childhood friends to lovers, who literally kiss in the game. They're in love and for a set of characters without a lot of screen time to build up their story, it was very well fleshed out and includes bg info in the lore that further explains their relationship. They didn't break up, and I think you should see those scenes again and think about everything Dion went through and his mindset at that point in time. He fully believes he should sacrifice himself to make up for his mistakes, even though the people wouldn't want that. He doesn't want Terrence to witness any of that and asks him to keep the promise to the little medicine girl and help the people rebuild. He entrusted Terrence with all the responsibility he feels is on his shoulders. Only someone with absolute love and trust in that person would do that.
And even Dion's va shared a hero's return HC for Dion and it didn't feature Joshua at all. It was really sweet, in character and wholesome. Dion would return to Terrence and the little medicine girl and help rebuild.
Joshua has a great depth of feeling for Jote and isn't interested in Dion as anything but a friend.
If you wanna go write a fanfic to satisfy your pairing pref that's something you can do, but it's not canon and you shouldn't expect it to happen because the setting has not implied it at all, no matter how much you wish it had. Please don't end up like the nutbar canon deniers going off about how what you think is superior just because you don't like canon. We get enough of that crazy shit with cleriths.

Welcome to The Cottage 👻
Hi I'm Tori. I've been an active witch starting at the end of 2019/ beginning of 2020. I've been interested in the occult, ghosts, spooky shit, and horror movies my entire life. At 16 I was gifted my first pendulum after a ghost encounter and spent most of my teenage/ early 20s searching for more experiences. But in 2019 was when my partner, Noah, and I decided we could actually invest time in witchcraft. A bit mind blowing I didn't dive in before because of the years of interest, experiences, and wishful thinking.
I currently live in Washington state with my partner Noah and our cat, Jiji: my extremely helpful store assistants. I'm an LGBTQ+ member, pro trans rights, black lives matter gal. I consider myself a pagan witch, working with Celtic and Norse deities. In my practice I consider myself fairly eclectic but love working with plants, herbs, and the element of fire in my workings. I enjoy crafting apothecary items to use in my craft and trying to reopen my connection to spirits and entities.
I opened up the shop, The Spectral Cottage, in 2021 as a revamp from my previous etsy store where I sold my handmade art. I started adding crystals to my shop in 2020 for fun and realized i wanted it to be a larger focus. The shop is very heavily connected to my own practice. I sell items I love personally, have handcrafted and spelled myself, or was interested in adding into my own workings. We sell things from crystals and herbs; spell oils and sprays; incense and railroad spikes. I’m constantly trying to improve the items we carry and branch out to carry more unique items so any witch with any need can come to us. We’re still quite small so that exact goal is being worked on more and more each day. This shop is my absolute passion, and witchcraft is something I’ve dedicated my life to
I wanted to come to tumblr to post spell ideas, witch tips, information, about my personal practice, and help create a community. Growing up, I loved tumblr so it seemed a little fitting to come back. I will also be posting updates about the shop like new items or markets we're attending. If there's ever something you've been on the lookout for feel free to send us a message and I'll try my best to get my hands on it. 🌿
Thanks for reading. Tori🦇

Global Awareness Initiative: Gender Equality
In the year 2024, fighting for gender equality goes beyond simple black and white ideas and includes people of all gender identities, including LGBTQ people. Recognizing and valuing people's gender identities makes society more open and cohesive on a global level. Promoting gender awareness can help stop discrimination and make sure that everyone has the same chances, no matter their gender or sexual orientation. Accepting gender differences not only makes people happier, but it also leads to new ideas and progress in many areas, making the world a better, more adaptable place to live. Promoting LGBTQ rights along with gender equality also upholds the basic values of respect for human humanity and equality, which helps make the world a more fair and caring place. Basically, raising knowledge about LGBTQ and gender issues in 2024 is not only the right thing to do, it's also the best way to make society more fair and peaceful.
Online Campaigns:
Online campaigns are essential in supporting gender and LGBTQ communities, especially in today's society where social media plays a significant role. Platforms like Tik Tok, Twitter, and Instagram enable individuals to share stories, raise awareness, and connect with others globally. Social media provides a space for voices to be heard, fostering empathy and understanding among diverse communities.Through online campaigns, gender and LGBTQ issues can reach a wider audience, sparking conversations and driving societal change. By harnessing the power of social media, these campaigns empower individuals to advocate for equality, challenge stereotypes, and build inclusive communities.
Tumblr media
Community Engagement:
To raise community engagement about gender and the LGBTQ community, it's important to start conversations and listen to each other's stories. Hosting events like workshops, discussions, or movie nights can bring people together to learn and understand more about these topics. Sharing information on social media or community newsletters can help spread awareness and invite participation. Encouraging everyone to respect each other's differences and support each other can create a welcoming environment. Working with local organizations and leaders can also help build partnerships and reach more people in the community. By coming together and learning from each other, we can make our community a better and more inclusive place for everyone.
Tumblr media
Educational Outreach:
Implementing educational outreach for gender and LGBTQ topics involves different ways to teach people in simple ways. This could include giving talks or presentations in schools, community centers, or online platforms. Making sure the information is easy to understand and respectful helps everyone learn and feel included. Using books, videos, or games that explain these topics in a fun and friendly way can also help. Offering workshops or training sessions for teachers, parents, and community leaders can help them support LGBTQ students and community members better. Creating safe spaces where people can ask questions and share their thoughts without fear of judgment is also important in educational outreach. Overall, by providing accessible and inclusive education, we can help everyone understand and respect gender and LGBTQ identities.

Recapping The Black Effect Podcast Network’s "Thrill of Possibility" Summit
Tumblr media
One of the many attributes I admire about podcasting is that the medium offers a louder and more vibrant voice for communities that are not white men. I'm talking African-American, Hispanic, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, women, and neurodivergent, as well as other groups too numerous to record here.
Television has made some inroads but in fits and starts, such as Reservation Dogs, Black-ish, and even Apple TV's Foundation with its diverse cast. For those White Lives Matters folks, I don't think that having BET (Black Entertainment Television) suffices for representation on TV shows.
Podcasting had a rough start with representation, but it has shown the ability to serve audiences that may be smaller in number but stronger in cultural homogeneity.
For example, The Black Effect Podcast Network is "the first podcast network specifically built for Black listeners, bringing together the most talented and trusted voices in Black culture for critical conversations on social justice, pop culture, and more." Its mission includes: "We’ve curated influential Black voices and tastemakers and will continue to do so as we expand to include not only voices you know but voices you should."
The network is a partnership between Charlamagne and iHeartRadio, created from a vision to amplify, elevate, and empower emerging and established talent. Their stated goal is to "shift the narrative from Black creators signing transactional deals, to instead forming legacy partnerships that build generational wealth while allowing each creative to have an equitable stake in their future."
Here's a quick recap of The Black Effect Podcast Network’s Thrill of Possibility Summit presented by Nissan(BE) that took place last weekend at the National Museum of African American Music in Nashville, TN. At the event, The Black Effect Podcast Network, iHeartRadio and Nissan welcomed 50 HBCU students from across the country to participate in a STEAM (Science, Tech, Engineering and Math) industry mentorship event featuring professional development and personal success panels, 1:1 career mentorship sessions, informative iHeartMedia and Nissan internship discussions, and networking opportunities with industry leaders and notable HBCU alumni.
VIP attendees included:
Conal Byrne, CEO, iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group Charlamagne Tha God, Founder, The Black Effect Podcast Network Dollie S. Bishop, President, The Black Effect Podcast Network Daymond John, American Entrepreneur and Star of ABC Network’s “Shark Tank” John Hope Bryant, CEO, Operation HOPE and Board Member, The Black Effect Podcast Network, Thea Mitchem, Executive Vice President, Programming, iHeartMedia Chandra Vasser, Vice President and Chief Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Officer, Nissan Marisstella Marinkovic, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Nissan Jennifer McMillan, Senior Manager, Quality Strategy Management, Nissan Lanae Williamson, Senior Manager, Multicultural Marketing Strategy, Nissan Danielle Austen, Managing Partner, fluent360 Devi Brown, Host, “Dropping Gems,” The Black Effect Podcast Network, Ellen Wagner, Creative Designer, fluent360 Tiara Simms, HBCU Student and Returning Scholar
Highlights included:
The “Changing the Game & Elevating” panel discussed strategies for breaking through barriers to progress in the workplace and all areas of life. The panel included Dollie S. Bishop, John Hope Bryant, Daymond John, Danielle Austen and Jennifer McMillan.
“The Importance of Career Preparation” panel discussed the importance of groundwork, inner self work and career readiness. Moderated by Lanae Williamson, the panel featured Charlamagne Tha God, Devi Brown, Tiara Simms and Ellen Wagner.
Daymond John hosted a surprise live podcast taping of "That Moment with Daymond John" featuring Lanae Williamson, with participation from the HBCU scholars.
National recording artist OWENN gave a special musical performance at the closing party.  You can check the Black Podcast Directory for a more complete list of all Black podcasts. Also, check out TheGrio Black Podcast Network.

She has one thing to say: RuPaul works the mall like it’s 1993
RuPaul’s Drag Race is sprinting to the end of Season 15 in 8-inch Louboutin platform heels, as Mother herself prepares to crown “America’s next drag superstar.” The big finish airs on April 15 on MTV. Prepare for sequins. As part of the show’s new network launch — after years with LOGO and then VH-1 — MTV unearthed and shared a 1990’s New York time capsule featuring the then-newly anointed Queen of Drag interviewed by MTV News reporter Alison Stewart. --- Related Stories Music Premiere: Queer-fronted synth-pop band Ghost Love’s latest single “Iconic” The band share some of the influences that have shaped their musical DNA. --- The pair go shopping. RuPaul towers over Stewart as the two roll into an unidentified Tri-State area mall, with the diminutive journalist bundled up in a hot pink wool jacket and skirt against below-freezing temps outside, while Ru is all legs in red hot pants and cinched tight up top in a low-cut white silk bodice. “You better shop!” she announces at their arrival. The year is 1993, just after RuPaul broke out with her dance club anthem Supermodel (You Better Work). She couldn’t have been hotter. And neither could drag. By the end of the Reagan/Bush era, years of protest demanding government accountability over the AIDS crisis inspired the LGBTQ+ community to greater visibility, and drag went public like never before. Wigstock exploded every summer on New York’s Lower East Side, featuring drag legends like Lady Bunny, Jackie Beat, and Lypsinka. Deee-Lite, the B-52’s, Madonna’s Erotica, and house music were the soundtrack at clubs, along with RuPaul’s hymn to work, looks, more work and models (“Linda! Naomi! Christy! Cindy!”). In Harlem, Paris was burning. Like a 6’5″ and Black Horatio Alger, the Queen of Drag shares the same “up from your bootstraps” message in Supermodel that she’s hawking today. “You better work!” she advises her soon-to-be subjects, “‘Cause everything looks good on you!” In the back of a white stretch limo, Stewart asks Ru about her pre-shopping look. “It’s Uptown,” says the drag star, draped in a faux-fur leopard coat, with a bottle-blonde up-do. In fact, Ru was working the signature hairstyle of then recently-divorced Ivana Trump, found on so many New York tabloid covers in the early ’90s after her split with the future president. “Sort of Uptown call girl,” she says laughing. A hypnotizing pair of white earrings add a stylish nod to Wigstock, where Ru would perform the next summer and be immortalized in Wigstock: The Movie. “More than just what I’m wearing, it’s actually more of an attitude,” RuPaul opines. “It’s like, ‘You’re all welcome to party, come on in.'” She adds: “Everybody is a drag queen. I mean you’re born naked, and the rest is drag.” “In fact, every pop star is. Madonna, Garth Brooks, Flavor Flav. Everybody is in drag.” Stewart asks Ru if Middle America is ready for her. “You know what? America is ready for me, and they kind of have to be ready for me. I mean, what I am is, I’m a result of a change that’s happening. If they don’t get me, the change is still gonna happen, with or without me.” “I have one thing to say!” she teases a crowd of teens at a Sam Goody record store, as she buys a cassette tape of her hit single. At the food court, the Mother of all drag queens imparts a message familiar to her future drag children. “Learn how to love yourself, no matter what. And once you do love yourself, you don’t have to be putting nobody else down.” “Everybody say love!” Stewart asks the future Drag Race creator and star, “What’s your next big challenge?” “My next big challenge,” shouts a wild-eyed Ru, like a drag oracle, “is world domination!“ The Drag Race Grand Finale tapes live at the Theatre at the Ace Hotel in Los Angeles. Get tickets if you can. http://dlvr.it/SlWKsM

Do you feel the 2022 paddock would welcome an openly gay Formula One driver?
Yes, I do. Perhaps that wouldn’t have been the case in the past, but now I think a gay Formula One driver would be welcomed — and rightly so. I feel that a gay driver would help to speed up the elimination of prejudice and help push our sport in a better direction.
Formula One is a very popular sport around the world. It relates to something that a lot of people do every day on a basic level or, even if they don’t drive themselves, they at least come across regularly: driving — or being driven in — a car. Although driving is, in and of itself, dynamic, I regret to say that some members of the driving community, if I can call it that, are nonetheless very slow — static almost — when it comes to progress.
Yet progress is inevitable. Cars have changed and will keep changing — for the better. Indeed, drivers have changed and will keep changing — again for the better. So I do have hope, and therefore I would absolutely welcome a gay Formula One driver. And, as I say, I think and hope our sport would be ready for one.
Are you aware of any Formula One drivers, past or present, who are or were gay but don’t or didn’t want to come out?
No, but I’m pretty sure there must have been some. I guess I wouldn’t know about them because they never came out, which is a shame.
You were happy to take the knee when Lewis Hamilton sought support for the Black Lives Matter campaign, but a number of other drivers — while forthright in their condemnation of racism — were not. Is that a sign of how difficult it is to carry forward a message in sport, where issues many of us would see as basic human rights are read as politically charged?
All of us have to make our minds up for ourselves. I’m sure that, as I was and I am, the 18 other Formula One drivers were broadly supportive of Lewis’s aims, whether or not they stood or knelt to show that support. What mattered is that we all showed up and were together.
But, yes, I always took the knee, and I usually positioned myself alongside Lewis to do so. He and I see eye-to-eye on a lot of things.
Both you and Lewis Hamilton have spoken out in support of the LGBTQ community — how did you come to be such an ally?
For me, it’s very simple: how can anyone think they have the right to dictate to someone else how they should live or whom they should love? The answer is: they don’t have that right. I’m happy to stand up for that principle.

SCREAMING THIS FROM THE ROOFTOPS
Trans people are valid, no matter if you are on the gender binary or not.
Trans lesbians and trans gay men are so welcome in their communities. You are so valid.
Being nonbinary or any other gender is so cool, and so are neoprouns.
Bi/Pan people can both exist and are not erasing each other, and both can love non-binary people and trans people.
Black LGBTQ+ people have done so much for our community and deserve so much recognition. Black Lives Matter, and always will.
Aromantic and asexual people are so so valid and I'll punch anyone who doesn't agree. You belong.
Trans men belong in men's sports, TRANS WOMEN BELONG IN WOMEN'S SPORTS.
It's okay to be in the closest for your own safety.
It is so valid to be out of the closet and screaming it from the rooftops!
It's okay to not know who you are yet.
It's okay to change when you find out new things about yourself.
Love each other, and love yourself. You deserve it.
TERFS/LGBTQ+ phobics can go eat dirt. I hope you step on a Lego.
All lives matter/blue lives matter people need to consiter eating a raw lemon. Brush your teeth than drink some orange juice.
And of course,
Gay gay gay gay gay - say gay.
Oppose anti-lgbtq+ legislation all over the world.
Hope this helps. I know this isn't my usual type of post but I've seen a lot of negativity around and I want people to know they are supported and valid on my blog, even if I'm small.
(oh, and fuck you if you support NFTs)
