Today is the Finals day of Te Matatini, and if you’re not watching already you should really tune in! Te Matatini is a kapa haka (Māori performing arts) competition in Aotearoa that’s often called the Olympics of Kapa Haka. The performances are absolutely stunning to watch!! As an American who just learned about this event, it’s been really cool to find out more about Māori culture while admiring some absolutely breath-taking art. It’s available to stream live or watch prerecorded on TVNZ or Haka Translate, with live translations in many different languages available! Even if you miss the live finals today, to my knowledge the competition will still be available to stream for a few more days afterwards. Unfortunately those websites are only available to people in Australia or Aotearoa, but with a little bit of stubbornness and a decent VPN you can watch from anywhere. (I’ve been using the free VPN TunnelBear, with the only downside being that every now and then I run out of free data and have to make a new account.) Urge Your Senators to Support the Women’s Health Protection Act Now!

The U.S. Supreme Court is preparing its response to Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which is likely to overturn Roe v. Wade. The Senate has responded by re-introducing the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA) for a potential vote next week. WHPA would prohibit states from passing medically unjustified restrictions on reproductive health care, which are proliferating across the country. It passed in the House September of 2021 and was blocked through the filibuster in the Senate February of this year. 

We need your help in urging your United States Senators to support the Women’s Health Protection Act.

The final decision from SCOTUS could be devastating for all physicians and their patients. We are already seeing physicians criminalized for providing care and counseling patients, resulting in grave access inequities.

Contact your Senators TODAY and urge them to support the Women’s Health Protection Act when it is introduced in the upcoming days.

What is the TSP Access Act?

Technical Service Providers, or TSPs, provide one-on-one assistance that helps producers [...] manage carbon pollution while keeping their land strong and healthy. Right now, there is a major shortage of TSPs, meaning many farmers, ranchers and forest-owners cannot easily access these programs.

What will the act help to do?

Keep forests healthy: Little known fact 👉 Over 50% of forests in the United States are privately owned. Without access to TSPs, it’s difficult for these private landowners to use climate-smart forestry practices. We need to help them to protect America’s #1 carbon sequesterers, trees. Promote climate-smart agriculture: As we see more extreme weather, we see increasingly devastating impacts in our agriculture and food systems. Farmers and ranchers are on the front lines of climate change and can mitigate its effects through climate-smart practices —provided they have climate-resilient land and access to TSPs who can assist them.
