Danny pinched the bridge of his nose, taking a deep breath, counting to ten and then letting it out. Why was this always his luck? Alright. Okay. Time to move again thanks to Dan pushing his body too far again, and ending up in his core. This was not how he was expecting to spend his days when he ghost-adopted his clone and sort-of son now actual son. Welp, he’ll throw a dart at the map to figure out where he’ll go next. 

Hm. Well, pack up Ellie! They’re moving to a place called Smallville, you always wanted a horse, right?

Jazz makes a deal with Desiree after finding her brother in their parent’s basement. And it’s not a pretty sight.

Her deal: Desiree gets a slightly longer leash (in a matter of speaking) as long as Danny and Jazz are safe. (Or something like that. Point is, she made a deal)

I wish this never happened and that Danny and I were safe somewhere else!

There’s a snap of fingers, a bright flash, then she’s outside in an unfamiliar city with sirens blaring and people wailing as a scarecrow runs by with some sort of gas, chased by someone dressed like Vlad adjacent except all black with a weird looking bat symbol on his chest.

Not normal, but also not the weirdest thing she’s seen.

But there’s no sign of Danny.

Desiree looks at Jazz and smiles bitterly, “I never said you’d be safe together.” And disappears.

Meanwhile, Danny wakes up screaming in an alley until he realizes he is not in pain and somehow has no wounds from their parents. His screams attract the attention of a man walking by, who comes to investigate, Danny decides to go invisible right in front of him which was dumb but he was injured just a couple seconds ago so cut him some slack. It really should have freaked the guy out, but he just has an astonished look on his face before also turning invisible.

Or: Jazz is sent to Gotham and Danny is sent to Coast City. Jazz becomes an unwilling part of scarecrow’s scheme (could be any villain) and is saved by a bat (any bat, although I prefer Red Hood or Robin) and Danny accidentally showed Martian Manhunter his powers.

Could work with Superman too in Metropolis. He could pick up a dumpster and throw it at Clark and Clark would calmly catch it while Danny is babbling/apologizing for getting scared and throwing something that could have killed the man, then slowly everything clicks and he disappears, leaving Clark Kent to investigate.

(Also background: Danny has just been told he will be the future Ghost King in this and Jazz was told by Clockwork that she would have a difficult decision and a difficult future in store but that it will be good for them and for the realms. Jazz doesn’t believe in fortune tellers, especially vague ones and says so to Clockwork’s face which cracks a smile. I’d personally write it as a Hardcover ship, but honestly if anyone wants to yoink this and do something else with it, I’d be okay with that too!)

Apprentice!Dick shows up in our "normal/standard/regular" DC universe and everyone (batfam, titans, whoever) is shocked and upset by his physical and mental state. Everyone is assuming it is dimension travel and wants to try to help him get back to his dimension, while also kicking Deathstroke's ass to get Dick out of this situation. However, our Dick recognizes that it is Not, in fact, dimension travel, but rather time travel, and he just never let anyone know that the apprentice trauma had happened to him. Our Dick Grayson goes along with everyone else's reactions while trying to hide that he went through this and never let anyone find out.

i really like the theory that trust value in tbhx works both ways, like yang cheng has the boba guy who looks after him, and xia qing and pomelo who liked him/believed in him when he was doing his e-soul performances, but his trust value stayed at zero all his life because he truly and honestly didn't believe that anyone could believe in him. you need to also trust that others will put their trust in you in order for your number to go up

ingellvar must have so many strange off-putting little personal habits in their day to day life that they don't even realize come across as weird, especially if they haven't ever dated outside of the watchers much. in rye's specific case I think lucanis has a capacity for such immaculate 'sure my life is already so fucking weird this might as well happen' energy that I believe he'd be able to roll with the punches admirably given the time, but it really would be a situation like

the framing so often ascribed to the pt that the galaxy was doomed/the republic fell because of One Guy's attachment is so wrong and yet so prevalent that one has no choice but to assume everyone is out here with horse blinkers on 24/7. anakin's flaws and fall are central to the narrative because he is the main character. at no point in the pt is he ever actually crucial to the fall of democracy or whatnot* - his attachment to luke, and luke's attachment to him save the galaxy. but they don't doom it. the fall of democracy is explicitly linked to political scheming and manoeuvring by palpatine; it's almost an inevitability in the pt lol!

God it just hit me.

Names are power in VnC. We call the piece of the world formula that defines a vampire their "true name." Learning and altering a vampire's true name gives you near-absolute power over them. Vanitas hides his old name as part of his "Vanitas" persona—a defense mechanism to hide his vulnerable self.

And names are an axis of discrimination too. The main way we've been examining discrimination against the dhampirs is through the lens of vampires refusing to call them by their names. And Luna, the perennial outsider, seems not to have been given a real name. They certainly didn't have a name that they liked or identified with for most of their life.

So with all that context, even more than it might be in another series, Teacher's whole name shtick becomes such an insane power move. He changes his name constantly and will brutally punish anyone that gets it wrong. Nobody has the power that would come from knowing whatever his first/true name was. He has the physical and social power to punish and correct anyone that doesn't call him what he wants to be called. He is in complete control of how people address him, or at least close to complete control, which is such a big deal within this story.

Buck not feeling comfortable enough with Tommy to tell him something as simple as he didn’t like basketball yet still telling Tommy he felt super comfortable around him and they should move in together is mind boggling

It truly is mind boggling.

Except, in a way, it's also not. Because that's just Buck—constantly trying to force a relationship to work that never stood a chance. He did it with Abby, he did it with Taylor, he did it with Natalia, he did it with Tommy. The only time he didn't cling like that was with Ali, and that was because she ended it before he could.

Buck tries to force himself into whatever shape he needs to be to fit what his partner needs. He's so afraid of being left that he'd rather twist himself into knots to make things work, while upholding his partner on a pedestal, as though whatever they decide he needs to be is what he needs to be.

And all of that results in this wonderful man who is so full of love hiding parts of himself that for whatever reason, he thinks don't matter.

And none of that is the fault of any of his partners. That's on Buck. But he needs to do the actual work on himself instead of expecting his relationships to fix him when he can't even bring himself to share those little things about himself that make him who he is. Especially something like the basketball thing. Because yeah, on its surface, it seems small. But it's such an integral part to how they met that the fact that Buck never thought to share that, actually, he doesn't even like basketball (OR that Buck actively hid that fact), really is very telling of just how little he actually shared of himself in that relationship.

It also feels like it says something big about just how little interaction Tommy had with the rest of the team. The idea that no one—not Eddie, not Chim, not Hen (all of whom are supposedly friendly with Tommy)—told a single silly little story about Buck spiraling and getting jealous and crashing a basketball game even though he hates basketball once they got together? Feels like it says a lot about all of those relationships and just how friendly everyone actually was. But I digress.
