Writing Update 6/29/2024

Paper Men

I'm still working on Ch. 32!

I know it's been a while, but I promise I have not forgotten or abandoned this story. I'm working on it every single day, even if it's only for ten minutes. I'm just really busy right now, and I'm doing the best I can.

These are the last chapters of Season 1 (that's what I'm calling it now—it's official), and I always get extra stressed whenever I'm ending something. I feel a lot of pressure to end it well, to end it strongly. I know I can do it, which is I'm very critical of myself.

That being said, I'll have something up within the next week or two. I'm not sure if I'm going to do a full-length preview for this chapter. It may just be a short teaser. I don't want to release the full Evelyn-Henry scene until it's 100% polished. It's such an important scene, and I wanna make sure I'm hitting all the emotional beats I have planned.

It's gonna be worth the wait. I know that.

I know it's been a while since I've released new Eddie content.

I apologize for that, and to make up for it, I'll release multiple fics once I'm back.

Usually, I do like one or two, but this time I'll do three or four, maybe even five.

My return date is still TBD, especially with this move coming up, but I'll let you know once that changes.

In mine and many other east Asian cultures, the dragon traditionally symbolises things like power, wealth and strength (imperial symbol and all)

I think we often forget that in the story of the Great Race, the dragon came in fifth because it'd stopped to give people rain. Then it'd stopped again to push a rabbit adrift on a log across the wide river so it reached the shore safely (that's why the Rabbit year comes before the Dragon).

Dragons aren't meant to just be powerful - they are meant to do good with such power, and to help those in need.

So in this lunar new year, I hope you gain more power, so that you might be able to help others. I pray you have abundant resources so you may give to yourself and those around you. I wish you courage, endurance, kindness and generosity, for yourself and your people.

I hope you, and I, will be rain givers, life preservers, joy bringers.

I hope we will be dragons.

Writing Update 04/21/2024

Paper Men

Chapter 32 is still coming along well!

I almost have the preview finished, but it’s not quite there yet. Gimme a few more days to get that sorted out. It'll be worth it.

I also finished the detailed outline for Chapter 33, which will be the final chapter of part 1/season 1/whatever you wanna call it.

I’m very much looking forward to ending this part of the story. I’ve loved writing it, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve been dying to get to the next part because it’s way more eventful in comparison.

Part 2/Season 2 will have the homecoming game, the fall festival (which is like a huge carnival that all the main characters will attend), Halloween, Evelyn’s birthday, wild house parties, awkward family dinners, and a whole bunch of Patrick content. You're welcome.

I've started outlining the next three short stories.

First will be the reader’s first day of high school.

Then we’ll do the one where Eddie gets jealous of Steve Harrington. (That one’s gonna be a two-parter, but we’ll do part 2 later because it’s a little NSFW, and there are a couple other fics I need to do first; otherwise, it’ll be weird seeing Eddie so… forward, if you catch my drift.)

Last will be a cute little middle school fic, because young Eddie is adorable and I love writing about him.

I’ll start writing the first fic as soon as I can.

I know it’s a little later than I initially planned, but these fics usually have a faster turnaround time, so it’ll even out

i thought my laptop was on its last leg because it was running at six billion degrees and using 100% disk space* at all times and then i turned off shadows and some other windows effects and it was immediately cured. i just did the same to my roommate's computer and its performance issues were also immediately cured. okay. i guess.

so i guess if you have creaky freezy windows 10/11 try searching "advanced system settings", go to performance settings, and uncheck "show shadows under windows" and anything else you don't want. hope that helps someone else.

*yes sorry i mean usage i posted this before bed :( i do not mean the hard drive is full aaaaghhhh
