Unlike me, Wilhelm Kohler is rarely surprised by his wife. Her choosing him was the most surprising thing he could have imagined, so anything after that just seems in character. They couldn't be more unpredictable: she's a rich girl from Boston with WASP ancestry and hands better for lacework than hard labor; he's a working class immigrant from Gernsbach, Germany, who took his knowledge of the Black Forest to logging camps in Maine, the Catskills, Appalachia, and finally, the Rockies.

He didn't even mean to end up on Antoinette Benoit's wagon to Kainai--he just thought it might mean work. And it has, though maybe not in the way he expected. He's put his woodworking knowledge to use building beds and a roof for his children, a table for his kitchen, and a storefront for his wife to sell her pretty things. And that's not just talk--all the furniture that can be made with Sun&Moon's Woodworking set has been. Just like my dad, woodworking is Wilhelm's love language.

His greatest pride, though, was helping build the schoolhouse. Reading came late for Wilhelm, particularly reading English, and though it means fewer hands on the farm, he's glad to know his children stand a chance of being half as well-read as his wife.

Music in Episode 10 of La Pluie

I’ve been thinking about this for a week and I wanted to do a full analysis of the whole episode, but I was extremely busy so I simply didn’t have time. If y’all want me to do the rest of the episode (like the rain scene), I’ll try to find some time this week. This is also just more of my thoughts and not an actual analysis because like I said…no time. So I did a rewatch of about half the episode and had these thoughts about the music init. I already wrote my observation about the music in the sex scene so I’m not going to talk about that here. I can’t believe I haven’t been paying attention to the music in this show because it’s so damn good. 

We’re starting with the scene where Tien takes care of Lomfon. I’ve been stuck in this scene since I rewatched it because I can’t stop thinking about it. I need y’all to know that as of right now, It’s the reason I didn’t finish rewatching the episode to listen to the music at first because I could not get past this scene. I really and truly just had to stop halfway through the episode because I kept thinking about it.

The music playing when Tien sits Lomfon down and goes to get him medicine and puts the cold patch on his forehead, well, I don't know how else to describe this except it sounds like Tien. It is absolutely and completely Tien. And all of his brashness hiding everything underneath. As he takes care of Lomfon, the music starts slower and builds and instruments get added and it's genuinely happy. Tien is happy that he gets to take care of Lomfon. And it gets happier as Lomfon stares at him and lets himself get taken care of.

Then it cuts to silence right before Lomfon grabs Tien's wrist and then it's music that suits Lomfon as he asks Tien to stay. It's not Tien's happy music anymore. It's almost melancholic and it could just be my knowledge of what’s going on with Lomfon and my own personal bias, but it’s almost questioning. It’s repetitive and it has an inflection at the end of the melody that sounds like someone asking a question. Which tracks because Lomfon spent the entire episode desperately searching for answers (I’d argue searching for a specific answer that he wanted but that’s a different post). 

Lomfon has shared music with Tien and it plays as he’s by himself and debating whether to call Tai and it’s playing during the call with Tai. But when the show cuts to us just seeing Tai, the music cuts out. The last little trail of the song that’s left is from Tien, but Lomfon is entirely gone from the music and then when Tai’s phone rings, the music is gone entirely.

When Tai answers and the music comes back though? So does Lomfon’s questioning music. Lomfon is so confused and wants his answers. He wants to brothers to answer his questions that he is never actually asking them. The questioning music then carries over to Tai afterthe phone call but slightly different. It’s less questioning. It’s still questioning, but it’s more pronounced.

When it’s Lomfon questioning things, the music reflects that. It tells us that Lomfon’s questions are internal and about himself and his feelings. But when the music tells us that Tai is questioning things, his questions are external and curious. Tai is intrigued by Lomfon but not interested in him romantically. It’s like Tai has a question but he also already has the answer. His answer always and forever will be Patts. But Lomfon makes him curious. What about Lomfon makes the people around him believe that he’s got a giant crush on Tai? I think Tai wanted to find out for himself (he should never have lied to Patts though) and I think the music supports that. 

When Tai is with Patts, the music is happy-go-lucky. Not a care in the world. There is love and light and kindness between them. Then Tai lies and the music shifts. It’s a sad kind of sinister. It’s not quite sinister but I lack the word for it. If it wasn’t clear from the obvious lie, it would be clear from the music shift that Tai is doing something wrong and bad and is in the process of fucking up. After Tai and Patts are done talking about the lie, it switches back to their happy-go-lucky music. Patts truly trusts Tai with his whole heart. 

The “date” that Lomfon and Tai went on confused me for the longest time because Lomfon’s happy music sounds so much like Tien’s that I spent the first part of the scene wondering where the hell Tien was in this scene. I realized around the time that Lomfon started taking pictures of Tai that it’s different the Tien’s happy music. It’s not entirely happy. Lomfon is trying to prove something and he doesn’t know where his happiness lies. He’s not quite happy with Tai even though he thinks he should be. Lomfon wants Tai to prove that soulmates and fate and destiny are real but he’s not happy and he could never be happy with that answer. Because he doesn’t want them to be. Because he wants Tien. Lomfon wants to be with Tien but can’t admit it to himself yet. Which is why his “happy” music is so similar to Tien’s but it can never be as happy when he’s with someone else due to fate.

Aaaaaand that’s as far as I got. Like I said, this isn’t an analysis, just my thoughts as I was watching. I didn’t think about the instrumentals or the rhythms or anything other than just the vibes. But damn the music in this show got me in a stranglehold on that (half) rewatch of episode 10. Who knows what it’s going to do in episode 11 later today. I’m excited to find out but also I think it’s gonna hurt my heart.

how to find literally any post on a blog in seconds (on desktop)

there are so many posts about ~tumblr is so broken, you can’t find any post on your own blog, it’s impossible, bluhrblub~

I am here to tell you otherwise! it is in fact INCREDIBLY easy to find a post on a blog if you’re on desktop/browser and you know what you’re doing:

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant. every single post, every single time. in chronological order starting with the most recent post. note: it will not find #croissants or that time you made the typo #croidnssants. for a tag with multiple words, it’s just /tagged/my-croissant and it will show you everything with the exact phrase #my croissant

url.tumblr.com/tagged/croissant/chrono will bring up EVERY post on the blog tagged with the exact phrase #croissant, but it will show them in reverse order with the oldest first 

url.tumblr.com/search/croissant isn’t as perfect at finding everything, but it’s generally loads better than the search on mobile. it will find a good array of posts that have the word croissant in them somewhere. could be in the body of the post (op captioned it “look at my croissant”) or in the tags (#man I want a croissant). it won’t necessarily find EVERYTHING like /tagged/ does, but I find it’s still more reliable than search on mobile. you can sometimes even find posts by a specific user by searching their url. also, unlike whatever random assortment tumblr mobile pulls up, it will still show them in a more logically chronological order

url.tumblr.com/day/2020/11/05 will show you every post on the blog from november 5th, 2020, in case you’re taking a break from croissants to look for destiel election memes 

url.tumblr.com/archive/ is search paradise. easily go to a particular month and see all posts as thumbnails! search by post type! search by tags but as thumbnails now

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio will show you every audio post on your blog (you can also filter by other post types). sometimes a little imperfect if you’re looking for a video when the op embedded the video in a text post instead of posting as a video post, etc

url.tumblr.com/archive/tagged/croissant will show you EVERY post on the blog tagged with the specific and exact phrase #croissant, but it will show you them in the archive thumbnail view divided by months. very useful if you’re looking for a specific picture of a croissant that was reblogged 6 months ago and want to be able to scan for it quickly 

url.tumblr.com/archive/filter-by/audio/tagged/croissant will show you every audio post tagged with the specific phrase #croissant (you can also filter by photo or text instead, because I don’t know why you have audio posts tagged croissant) 

the tag system on desktop tumblr is GENUINELY amazing for searching within a specific blog! 

caveat: this assumes a person HAS a desktop theme (or “custom theme”) enabled. a “custom theme” is url.tumblr.com, as opposed to tumblr.com/url. I’ve heard you have to opt-into the former now, when it used to be the default, so not everyone HAS a custom theme where you can use all those neat url tricks. 

if the person doesn’t have a “custom theme” enabled, you’re beholden to the search bar. still, I’ve found the search bar on tumblr.com/url is WAY more reliable than search on mobile. for starters, it tends to bring posts up in a sensible order, instead of dredging up random posts from 2013 before anything else

if you’re on mobile, I’m sorry. godspeed and good luck finding anything. (my one tip is that if you’re able to click ON a tag rather than go through the search bar, you’ll have better luck. if your mutual has recently reblogged a post tagged #croissant, you can click #croissant and it’ll bring up everything tagged #croissant just like /tagged/croissant. but if there’s no readily available tag to click on, you have to rely on the mobile search bar and its weird bizarre whims)

Guys it's just merch

Danny watched with a smile hidden behind his mug of hot cocoa his new family. Originally he was only going to mess with them a little, since he wanted to keep his civilian live he gained with them but at the same time wanted to kind of provoke them to tell him about their night time jobs on their own.

Not like he could just flat out tell them he knew about their vigilantes lifes and that would be embarrassing to explain.

It's not every day that Danny's powers fluked on him, but with the stress of the past months, it happened. Right at a moment, he had to be clumsy and trip over his own feet and accidentally phased through a grandfather's clock, finding a hidden passage. Well at least he learned that way that Batman hadn't placed him with some other rich fruitloop that wasn't his godfather but well... with Batman himself and his family out of mask.

Yeah no, he did not want to explain that and hoped they would do that themselves. But apparently, they took Danny's statement of wanting a normal life a bit too serious.

Which brought him back to his current entertainment in the form of messing with his siblings.

"I don't get what the problem is guys. It's just merch." He chuckled slightly at the face Damian was making. While Jason chose to kick Tim under the table.

"Soooo how much merch on Red Robin do you have with this shirt now?" Dick asked instead with a bright smile, Danny still hadn't figured out how to tell what emotion he hid behind them sometimes.

"I think this is my third shirt of him." Danny mused, placing his cup back on the table and tapping his lip in a thinking motion. "Though I was going to pick up a couple of custom-made jackets of Red Hood and a Nightwing plush later today."

He acted like he did not hear the triumph like hiss of 'yes' from Jason as well as the very upset huff of Damian.

He just grinned at the amusement about how they apparently were competing over how much merch he owned of each of them.

When he found a Robin figure and several Robin pins mysteriously placed on his desk the next morning, he broke out laughing. Yet still just to mess with them gushed about his newly gotten merch to his family while sharing a knowing look with Alfred who knew he was just messing with them.

If there was a surprising amount of Batman merch, suddenly mixed into what he already owned the following week without his knowledge. Well, he wasn't going to complain about free stuff.

But he still would get a good laugh out of their reactions on the day he decided to full on dawn every piece of Batman merge instead of theirs.

a spell is cast on camelot that thins the veil enough for ghosts to appear. the catch? the ghosts that appear are spirits of people that were killed by the person they’re haunting. the knights have a good amount of bandits/raiders/whatever that they took down in battle, maybe a few shady knights have genuinely innocent people that they murdered and got away with. the executioner’s killings are transferred to the king since he was simply acting out the king’s commands. arthur has quite a few. uther has hundreds of sorcerers in various states of gore and horror. those who were hanged have perpetually bent necks, those who were beheaded have either no head or just a head floating a bit above their body, and those who were burnt are more charred remains (the most grisly of them all). merlin has more than anyone expected (which was zero) and all of them keep calling out for arthur/uther’s death and camelot’s downfall while also turning to merlin and calling him a traitor.

Headcanon that instead of signing his threats Red Hood uses semicolons liberally (and correctly) because nobody up to their eyeballs in crime in his part of Gotham uses semicolons. ‘Don’t even try to run; I know all of your hideouts’ is a Certified Red Hood Threat. ‘I’m always watching; every minute every second’ is someone impersonating Red Hood.
