The religious argument that people can't possibly be trans because God cannot make mistakes has always been a weird one to me, because who's to say God didn't intend on making somebody trans?

My dad put it best; for some reason or another, God sometimes decides to give his children specific experiences, and being trans is an experience. He doesn't make mistakes, so being trans isn't a mistake. What is a mistake is forcing his children to think they are a mistake.

Determining your parents limits

I had a discussion with @deservedgrace about this topic and would like more input. Parents will often say they’ll “love and support you no matter what” but as you gauge deeper, there are always limits or conditions. A lot of them will only accept what fits into their worldview especially if they’re evangelical. With my dad, he’ll say the usual spiel and there are a few things he conveniently leaves off the list such as being trans or an atheist. He’s cool with me being gay and having a boyfriend but has more questionable stuff he’s said about trans people. How do you determine the limits of your parent’s acceptance and their true views on things without outing yourself, so you know if it’s safe to come out?

reminder that the people and lawmakers who use christianity and catholicism to persecute are using religion as a mask to harm others under bigoted beliefs they have always had, regardless of their religious beliefs. even if they do genuinely believe that their religion encourages the hatred of minorities, they're reading into their scriptures in a way that warps their meaning entirely. it's a shame that some of the evillest people in the country are using religion as an excuse to legalise and promote the systematic murder and ostracisation of trans folk for political gain. of course this harms the lgbtqia+ community and other intersectional minority groups most directly, it does also affect honest christians/catholics and their relationship with our community

You may temporarily survive a few years if not in peace, in agony, squeezing the last drops of social justice from your neo-liberal capitalist electoral system. You are in a hostage situation between two capitalist choices. I won't blame you. But for how long? Women, Queers and People of color will truly never be free under the oppressive system that is capitalism. So how long do you plan to push further what is inevitable from the system you are voting for.

How further will you push till you are one with the ones that were imperialized by your oppressor. How long till you realize they have done more than you ever would How long till you know, you feed on their imperialized blood yet you will vote for their oppressor to save yourself. Are you just progressive because of the values of social justice, or selfishly, just because your rights are at stake. Do you find us, the imperialized bunch humans? If not... for how long.
