Are you planning on watching the Netflix ATLA? If so, what are you looking forward to seeing?
I am really excited about it! I'm looking forward to see all the cast act because they're all incredibly cast. Getting to see Paul Sun-Hyung as Iroh ans Danni Pudi as the Mechanist will be really fun, and I'm really excited to see Elizabeth Yu as Azula. Same with Daniel Dae Kim as Ozai.
I want to the original scenes they write for the show, and I really hope it's a more sympathetic take on Azula that genuinely paints the Final Agni Kai as a tragedy rather than making it a cool fight with tragic overtones. Having Mai and Ty Lee in season 1 will be interesting too, their casting is too old to be the flashbacks so I'd love to see some Azula&Mai&Ty Lee in the Fire Nation, or just Mai & Azula if Ty Lee had already ran away.

the fact that reboots used to be like thirty or forty years apart and are now instead like 3-10 years apart is absolutely ridiculous. like are we so trapped in a capitalist hellscape that instead of us naturally cherishing a beloved piece of media like it deserves and looking forward to NEW stories with NEW universes we have to watch the same thing over and over and over again with reboot after reboot after reboot until that media has been so sucked dry that us as an audience are literally sick at the mere mention of it

obsessed with how tumblr seems to have just collectively decided to ignore the live action avatar remake. not even hate watching or spreading screencaps to be mean. i’ve seen people dunking on it with unrelated memes and stuff from the original but nothing actually from this new show. there is no war in ba sing se, there is no depressingly predictable and bleak current state of the entertainment industry

i mean, yeah. it is a fanfic and that's exactly why it's so badly written. not to say that all fanfics are badly written, in fact i've seen plenty that were way better written than spop.
but what nate did was to take the original show, rip the characters' names out of it, and throw everything else away. then he proceeded to mess with the characters' ages, personalities and relationships.. for absolutely no reason?
like what was the point of making falcon, who was seahawk's father in the original show, his ex-boyfriend in the reboot? if it was just to prove that seahawk is bisexual, they could have used any other character or even made up a new character. why pick his dad, of all characters??
and from what i know, castaspella and micah weren't siblings in the original. castaspella was apparently the same age as shadow weaver, and she was a powerful sorceress. but in the reboot, she's just glimmer's silly overbearing aunt. because.. women empowerment, right?
yeah, it really reads like one of those fanfictions that just completely mischaracterizes the original characters, just so they could fit into the romantic narrative or whatever.
i don't mind people doing a reboot of older shows. a lot of them have done it really well. but spop is not that different from shit like 50 shades of gray (except 50sog didn't really ruin the reputation of the original, considering how twilight was already pretty trashy and problematic to begin with).

batfam headcanon:
Tim and Dick both love Doctor Who and bond over it a lot.
Dick is a Star Wars fan while Tim is a Star Trek fan. They butt heads about it occasionally.
Dick stans R2-D2. Tim stans Kirk (and maybe has a crush on him).
(…okay, Dick 100% had a crush on Leia. and dressed up as Han for Halloween once. or several times.)
Meanwhile, Jason’s vibing with Back to the Future and Lost in Space (and the book The Little Prince).
Dick loves the Avatar movies while Jason loves Avatar the Last Airbender. (Jason gives him shit a lot for them having stolen the name.)

I’m done calling my feelings about things I like brainrot. “ML brainrot,” “star wars brainrot,” “Amphibia brainrot” NO MORE! What I love is not a poison, it is a flourishing garden in my mind and I’m not ashamed of how I enjoy the things I love. They were made to be enjoyed, so why would it be rotting my brain?

I could never forget someone criticizing that wretched live action because aang’s actor is gonna obviously get older and that the original show only takes place in under a year. and the root of their criticism was that “kataang is gonna look less weird” 😭
when aang very obviously matures faster (both physically and emotionally) than the average 12 year old boy between seasons 1 and 3. (like you’re gonna tell me season 1 aang on kyoshi island and finale aang look the same to you??)
because, newsflash, aang is NOT a real human boy.
he exists in a fantasy world where people bend the elements.
and expecting a live action to realistically portray a fantasy cartoon child god correctly was your first and biggest mistake.

If you don't know what qualifies as "original ATLA fan," it's in reference to when the show first came out. So if you started the show after July 19, 2008, you're not in the "original fan" category.
