among boring talks
endless repetitive tasks
why are only you,
like small glimpses among clouds,
able to brighten my day?

The person in the mirror is not me
I’ve got dark hair- darker than the images’ own, shorter. More manageable than this curled mess.
I’ve got brown eyes- much darker than the blue eyes blinking back. The blue eyes judge me, point out everything that’s different.
The image in the mirror is shorter, a mere 5’3” compared to my height. Yet, I can stare into those light blue eyes.
(or maybe the eyes are grey- they’ve changed, I realise, they changed at some point from a critical glare to a soft understanding. I dont like it. Go back)
I am not me
And yet,
here I am.
Existing.

I hate
How violent I am
Until I remember
How sad I would be
If I didn’t get angry

Act One
I emerge, screaming.
This is Act One.
Enthralled by the thrill of life,
I want my answers now.
Wearing a band of fact,
My lungs perform.
A grand deceleration of success,
This is only my beginning.

bad poem #27
I say "one day, I will marry you."
You laugh like stars falling from the morning sky.
Your laughter makes me smile.
I can't help it. When you laugh
the world is as bright as you are.
Later
when the world is quiet again
and grey again
and you've gone
I will cry
over your wordless answer

It took me years to learn how to sleep
Without something pressed tight against my back.
A bit of comfort that the space was filled -
One more thing to warn if safety was being pulled away.
If I could, I'd wrap something all around me -
A lump back there, yes,
But then a cover up over the curves of my side
And held tight in my hands at my chest.
How funny, to swaddle myself up
Just like the specter used to.

You smiled and the whole room spun
That is the truth I am afraid to tell you
Understand, I sectioned my heart off like
an orange, and gave it to boys
with kind smiles and cold eyes. Boys
with warm hands but sharp teeth, who
loved like it was their religion and I was the
sacrifice. They covered
my wounds in honey, promised it was medical
grade and I believed them, even as it
dripped from the peanut butter stained jar.
This is what I understand
wounds coated in sugar and
eyes rubbed raw and red
I'm new to this,
salt water and football jerseys.
Hold my hand,
I'll do my best.

Vera Claythorne
What is there to truly blame,
the victim or the loosing game?
A little lie for her to sing,
to gamble for a wedding ring.
And when the child turned up dead
the lovesick girl was never wed.
Instead, she buried deep within
to wonder if it was a sin,
or just a push that came to shove
the madness of a girl in love.

tonight, words fail me
because they can not reach you
as if autumn winds
blew them far away from you
somewhere never to be found

It is indeed shit
Ok, so I'm well aware this is a shit poem, but I wrote it and wanted to share
Humans define monsters so many times as other,
With sharp fangs and misshapen forms,
With unknowable beliefs and odd motions.
But true monsters hide in crowds unseen.
With no fangs and common silhouettes,
With known beliefs and foreseen motions.
Empathy defines humanity,
And its lack, monstrosities.
The most grotesque form with empathy,
Is more human than anyone without.
I stand alongside odd forms and beaten shapes,
Not because I am a monster,
But because I am human,
Just as they are.

I wish I was small again
Not because life was easier as a kid
no
I fought a different war back then
but because
when I am longing,
yearning for affection,
I want to be engulfed by my mothers hugs once again
I want to be protected and nurtured once more
instead I’m an adult
Who is taller than his mother
and whose yearning and longing is brushed past

I want you. I want all of you. I want the darkness and the demons that no one else knows about. I want the silent battles that you fight daily that only you know about. I want to love every inch of you the way you deserve to be loved.
