My headcanon for Modern!Machete before he encounters (re-encounters?) Vasco is that he works in some high-powered but low-profile position for an influential and well-known multinational. Like a corporate lawyer or accountant for Apple or Volkswagon or Shell. He's very, very good at his job, his assistants and staff think he's a good boss, his boss thinks he's great, but half his colleagues can't stand him because they think he got promoted for sucking up to their boss instead of for his skills (it was for his skills). He's got exactly enough interpersonal skills to recognize the problem and not enough to fix it. He gets paid extremely well, well enough to mostly pretend that he's happy and fulfilled (he still ends up happier in the Modern!AU because his job only sucks a little instead of literally destroying him. Also because modern medicine means his medical situation is much better understood and controlled). Yes this is all just the modern equivalent to what canon!Machete's got going on but it's startling how much carries over with no changes.

thinking about kieran again... particularly about how i feel like he struggles with a weak sense of self and how him identifying so heavily with ogrepon, (or at least the version of ogrepon he originally knew,) probably helped him stabilize how he saw himself, only to have something he considered so core to his identity essentially ripped away from him. not only that, it was by someone he seemingly wanted to trust and open up to, (which i doubt he does very often.)

i definitely think that the way he's handling things is far from healthy, but i can get why he'd have such an intense reaction to losing something that was so important to him and basically being betrayed by someone he wanted to consider a friend.

I wonder what the opening and ending for a Solivaga anime would be. Probably surreal and creepy. Secret spoilers? Willow jumpscares? Angsty??? Very likely all of those.

Oh my god, Okay. We joked a while ago now that the Prologue looked already a lot like an opening lol but if we want to go full opening vibes, here's some of my favorite oldies that match the vibe I'd def. go with:

Slayers TRY, breeze, is always a great mood. I"d first and foremost go with Kagirinai Yokubou no Naka Ni, but youtube either deleted the ending anim due to a copyright claim or the uploader took it down. The song is great tho and has a perfect vibe:

and the first one that popped into my mind when I got this ask was the opening to Miyu OVA. sadly I can't find a version of it that's not a potato and not tied to the actual episode, but here it is.

The anime may be crap compared to my beloved manga, but I will love this opening until the day I die. I love the unique song, I love the visuals, I love the mood, I love the incidental scenes. Ofc anything that has the sort of Yuki kajiura sound would also fit exceptionally well.

And if we're just going by music, Lilium is a beautiful opening song with great vibes as well, but I'm not really into the show it's from. HAve kept that opening on my playlist forever tho. Shamanic Princess is so near perfect for a vibe because it seems all colorful and happy, but if you've ever seen that anime... hahaha.
