I saw your post about asoiaf character headcanons https://www.tumblr.com/hchollym/656295257177276416/who-are-some-of-your-head-cannons-for-characters and I’m begging for more Willas Tyrell headcanons! Anything you have! What is he into? You said he makes nerdy jokes. Whats his personality like?

How does he feel about the whole “potentially engaged to Sansa thing” and how did he feel when she was forced to marry Tyrion? (I cant imagine he would have been in love w her immediately if they married, bc she is 13 (3 years younger than Margery) and he is at least in his 24-27ish in current book canon)

More Willas Tyrell Headcanons:

-He has brown curly hair and hazel eyes.

-He's definitely an introvert. He's very kind and genuine, and some people are drawn to that (like Oberyn), but he's not naturally charming or assertive, so he finds social situations a little more difficult to navigate.

-He enjoys astronomy (since he likes looking at the stars) and drawing/painting (since he drew pictures for Margaery when she was little).

-He's not great at expressing his feelings. He knows how to - he's very self-aware - but he has a tendency to hide his insecurities/sadness and keep things inside, because he already feels physically vulnerable due to his leg, and he's afraid to be emotionally vulnerable too.

-He loves all animals (including cats and dogs), and he always names them after historical figures.

-He can never admit it out loud (because he's a Tyrell), but he gets tired of the smell/sight of roses (they have far too strong of a floral scent). Because of this, he grows his own little garden of Iris Blue Rhythms (but he has it fenced off because they're toxic to dogs). These flowers are a pretty blue and lemon-scented (which is actually his favorite scent, because he loves how fresh it smells).

Headcanons About Willas' Thoughts on Sansa:

-I'm not sure he even knew about the plan until after it was ruined. Mace didn't know, and Olenna may very well have kept that secret close to her chest until after she arrived in King's Landing.

-Once he found out, he was definitely concerned by her age. Even by Westeros' standards, Sansa was still young for marriage, and since she was three years younger than Margaery (his baby sister), he saw her as a child.

-He protested an immediate wedding and argued for a long betrothal, and he only backed down when Margaery told him about the abuse Sansa suffered at Joffrey's hands. At that point, he realized that marrying her quickly was the only way to protect her, and he agreed because it was the chivalrous thing to do.

-He was horrified when he found out that she was married to Tyrion, because 1. Her age was still a factor, and he assumed that Tyrion would consummate the marriage; 2. Tyrion was a part of the family that killed Sansa's father, and he knew that would be traumatizing for her, especially because it meant that she would be stuck around the Lannisters for the rest of her life; and 3. He knew Sansa imagined a much "better" husband than a dwarf (and by Westeros' tradition, it was honestly an insult to marry her to Tyrion).

-He was also disappointed because he knew that Sansa was the best political match he could ever make, and even if she never loved him, he thought that she would at least enjoy Highgarden & he would keep her safe.

How do you think the HotD story would have changed if Corlys was successful in having Viserys marry Laena? Like she essentially replaces Alicent, has multiple children (at least some boys) ect. Her are my thoughts

Part of the rift between Rhaenyra and Alicent is the fact that Rhae feels betrayed by her closest childhood friend. She isnt that close to Laena, so maybe there would be less resentment there? Rhaenyra seems sad, but accepting when she believes Viserys will remarry to Laena, and only becomes more upset when he announced he would marry Alicent instead. Maybe she would be more willing to step down as heir to Laena’s kids?

Laena is also more strong-willed than Alicent, and has stronger political backing, so she would have more power to push her sons as Visery’s heirs, unlike Alicent, who is alone in KL and only starts gaining power when Otto comes back/Viserys gets sick/Larys joins her side

If Lanea married Viserys, maybe Corlys wouldnt feel the need to arrange a marriage between Laenor and Rhaenyra. In which case, who would Rhaenyra marry? I can see Daemon still murdering Rhea, so maybe he and Rhaenyra would elope as they did in canon, the only change being a few years earlier. How would a younger, healthier Viserys respond to this? (I’m certain at least some of the reasons that they didn’t get punished for that was because the Viserys was not well enough)

When it comes to the succession, I can see there still being a war. i basically agree with your conclusion that the dance would just take place between different factions, like you said here:

viserys remarrying and producing boy children was always the problem, it doesn't really matter who his wife is, specifically. because any brother weakens rhaenyra's claim, that's the crux of the issue.

i agree, i think that rhaenyra is so upset with alicent because she feels betrayed by her closest friend. on the one hand, she is not a fan of the idea of her father remarrying as we see in the balcony scene with rhaenys - she knows she is in danger of being replaced by a future brother. but she still clings to the idea that she will be queen. she tells rhaenys "i will create a new order". so i don't think she would just readily accept laena's kids shoving her down the line of succession without at least getting upset about it. she does accept the idea of laena becoming viserys' wife eventually but laena is also a 12-year-old girl; i think rhaenyra is more willing to understand that this is not laena's will. but alicent is her peer, so maybe she does feel politically-outmaneuvered by her friend and doesn't like it.

on the other hand, rhaenyra is upset because alicent wasn't straightforward about this and kept it from her. ofc, we, as the audience, know that alicent was in a shitty position and didn't really have a choice, but rhaenyra is a hurt teenage girl who just lost her mother and is now seeing her bff become the new queen. this rift between is completely understandable. and, yes, it's all viserys' fault. :))

i don't know about this; it feels more like a fault in worldbuilding. the hightowers are also very rich and powerful, it really doesn't make much sense as to why alicent would be politically-isolated. sure, otto does get fired, but ormund, the head of her house, can always send her other relatives to KL to help her out? household staff, allies from the Reach, alicent's own brothers...... she is THEE queen, for goodness' sake, she shouldn't be all alone in the Red Keep. she should have her own private army like cersei has her own lannister soldiers who are sworn to her. hell, alicent and otto get pretty chummy with tyland, why aren't some of jason's many daughters her ladies-in-waiting, acting like her personal spies and gossip-mills? what about alicent's mother's house? she must have some cousins or aunts/uncles who can become part of her retinue in the capital, offer her emotional support and be confided in when needed. these people should be helping alicent scheme 24/7 & secure as many allies as possible for aegon when he becomes king

if laena married viserys, i think it's still possible for rhaenyra to marry laenor. all other issues aside, laenor is a really wise political choice for rhaenyra and this also definitely solves house targaryen's lingering problem of the velaryons becoming another dragon-riding house. now all the other non-targaryen dragon-riders would be absorbed back into the main branch.

that being said, daemon would still take his chance at marrying rhaenyra if such a possibility presented itself. i think viserys would deal with this issue just like he deals with all others, by avoiding conflict. rhaenyra and daemon would probably still spend their days in dragonstone. you are right in claiming that the blue faction would hold military advantage here, so, if daemyra want any chance at winning this succession war, they would need to engage in more politicking and find themselves more allies.

however, if rhaenyra stays married to laenor, perhaps a match could have been arranged between "their" children and laena's children. if laenor remains "alive", there is a greater chance that he might persuade the velaryons to accept this match, even if the strong boys are bastards, because the rest of the velaryons would have a vested interest in not breaking up their own family and warring against laenor. he could have been a key political player in smoothing things over and, without daemon's influence, i think it is possible for rhaenyra to even be swayed to relinquish the crown, if it came to that

I’m living for your analysis surrounding the theory that Daemon has a psychosexual obsession w Viserys, and thats why he goes after Rhaenyra. It makes me wonder; how do you think his rivalry w Otto plays into all this? In many ways, Otto (and, really, anyone who holds the position of Hand, but we have no idea how Daemon felt about Lyonel Strong soo…) acts as a sort of “partner” to the King. In a way, Otto held the same position Alicent currently has, even before Viserys married her. He was the non-Targaryen “partner” to the King. The fact that he held Viserys trust and attention over Daemon+the fact that he isnt a Targ= Daemon immediately hates him and wants to oppose him at every turn (Otto is a consummate politician and diplomat, so i dont believe he would be the one picking fights w Daemon. I’m sure Daemon was the one who started their “rivalry” and was the one who kept it going, mostly in his own head. Honestly i think Otto considers him more of a thorn in his side vs an actual “rival”)

Now obviously Otto doesnt have a weird psychosexual thing for Viserys. But add that to Otto’s weird little comment about how Alicent should “wear her mothers dress” when she goes to see the King and this show has So. Much. Emotional. And. Regular. Incest. (Even more than meets the eye)

Otto saw Daemon as a legitimate threat to (his) peace. Daemon saw Otto as someone unworthy sitting in his seat. Neither perspective is totally without legitimacy tbh. I think your assessment of their relationship is spot on - about Daemon starting and maintaining the "rivalry" where Otto's kind of struggling to take him seriously lmao.

I will say though Otto telling Alicent to wear her mother's dress was imo his subtle way of telling her 'dress like a woman, not a girl. i want to king to see you as a woman' more than anything... but you cannot get away from how creepy it was either way. the way he Always brings her mother up as a way to regain control... there is something deeply fucked up there.

I’m begging for more dreamling body hair content. Like, does Dream even have body hair? Bc i headcanon him being smooth like a seal. The contrast between Dream’s flawless, hairless, alabaster skin and Hob’s hairy, tan, scarred skin. The friction vs smoothness when they rub together. The smells! The full body beard burn!

Also like, shaving kink is a thing. Obvs Dream is gonna hide Hob’s razor, but eventually Hob is gonna need to shave (at least trim up the neckbeard hair) How would Dream react? Would he want to do the deed himself? Hold the straight razor (bc duh, Hob uses a straight razor, its the sexiest option) up to Hobs throat, take off the hair in short, even, precise strokes? All the while Hob is sitting between his knees, looking up at him from under his lashes?

The thing about male body hair is and contrast of sensation you get from it!! For a start, chest hair can be so soft and silky. Imagine Dream just running his fingers slowly through thick, dark hair. Pressing the palm of his hand over Hob’s heart and feeling the gentle prickle of hair underneath. The texture can do so many things to Dream’s body all at once. If he runs his hand down, his fingers sink into the soft flesh of Hob’s belly and those long digits are embraced and curled over by hair that’s soft and coarse at the same time. Maybe the hair around his groin is a little rougher, a little scratchier. The strands curls thickly around his fingertips and the scent is thicker too, more lingering.

It’s fascinating for Dream who is ethereal and unhuman and hairless by choice. He has no texture, no musky scent. So he’s stealing Hob’s and keeping it for his own. Burying his face and his hands in greedily.

And yes, there’s the beloved facial hair. The first time Hob drags his bearded cheek over Dream’s chest, catching his nipples on prickly hair, leaving burning red streaks in his wake, Dream almost loses control over his own physical form. The scratches of beard burn linger on his skin much longer than they should. He delights in walking around with his face rubbed almost raw with kissing.

Hob has to beg to be allowed a shave. However sexy Dream might find it, it’s itchy as fuck actually and people are starting to stare at him. Dream agrees, only if he can be the one to do the shaving. He wants to tip Hob’s head back, and the drag the razor firmly over his skin - right there, where his pulse beats wildly under the surface. He’s good at it. Hob knows that his hands won’t slip, and he sits perfectly still and trusting. Listening to the scrape of the razor and watching the way Dream’s tongue pokes out slightly as he concentrates.

Dream is reassured by the fact that that very evening, Hob’s jaw is shadowed and stubbly again. It won’t be long before the beard is back with a vengeance. And in the meantime, Dream is feeling a strong urge to pay attention to Hob’s thighs. There’s enough hair down there to keep him sated for now at least.

A problem had been found in Desire’s plans of seducing the human that they had feelings for. A problem that they hadn’t anticipated

Your reaction was the problem. All the flirting and teasing glances led to… practically nothing. Of course you were polite, interesting and treated them very well, but you didn’t respond to the attempted seduction from Desire.

No matter how much they tried to use their tried and trusted method of letting you know how they felt about you, it didn’t work. In fact, it seemed like the more Desire flirted, the more you distanced yourself.

Finally, they had enough. Scared to lose you, they (rather inelegantly) blurted out their feelings towards you. Telling you about their love and nervously waiting for your reply.

And to their delight, you reciprocated. You loved them too, and Desire felt joy at hearing that.

When they asked you why you didn’t respond their flirting (and preening), you let them know that you’re ace. That type of courting just wasn’t one that you were interested it.

Desire didn’t mind, they were just happy to have you. And honestly… they were a little flattered. So used to being desired, but not used to being loved, this admittance that you loved Desire for their personality, not their looks and powers, sparked a feeling that the Endless wasn’t used to

A lovely feeling. A feeling of happiness that warmed their heart.

They didn’t have to worry about whether your feelings were just lust, they didn’t have to worry about constantly keeping your interest in their looks. Desire could finally relax with another person

Although sometimes Desire was a little frustrated that they couldn’t get out of trouble with you by trying to distract you with their attractiveness, they will admit that having someone that can call them out on their behaviour is good for them.

They wouldn’t trade away their relationship with you for anything.

Batfam Fancast Part 13: The Al Ghuls

Oh baby my first request! @callmekohaii asked and they shall recieve.

The eternal Al Ghuls. Ra's,Talia,Dusan,Nyssa and Damian. For centuries this family has affected the world in more ways then we will ever know. Integral to the League of Assassins this family are known to be pompous and pretentious aristocrats. So who will be these immortal individuals?

Before we go any further we do have a major conflict to resolve. That problem is the ethnicity of the family. When potrayed before they had rather problematic castings, however the very concept of these characters are problematic in of themselves. Being Middle Eastern aristocratic type people that create conflict based on personal extremist ideals. Similar to the Drake family I have to be careful with how I elaborate and edit on these characters stories and must be thoughtful with how I want to portray these characters without stepping on anyone's toes.

I also have to remember to cast people that aren't completely Americanized, unlike most of the Batfamily who are all east coast American besides Alfred. Actors who are of Middle Eastern or Asian descent seem to be my best bet and have some actors be mixed as well.

Ra's Al Ghul

The leader of the League of Assassins, the Demon's Head, Grandpappy Stabby Stab. The figurehead of the family, Ra's Al Ghul is a legendary DC character, a well-known Batman villain that can keep up with the likes of Batman. Obsessed with destroying the world to remake in his own image he will do anything and everything for his goals, but still hold himself to degree of honor. However he is hypocritical holding onto old ideals that won't have him accept more liberal ideas. He still respects people of similar status though. Even seeing the like Bruce Wayne and Tim Drake as potential successors. Yet still forgoes someone like his Son or Daughters as successors no matter their enthusiasm for it.

There is only one actor that can covers all the things needed for this character and has been with him for over a decade. Oded Fehr has been voicing Ra's Al Ghul for Young Justice since 2011. He is 52 years old, has experience with action thanks to the Mummy movies and is Israeli. He is by far the best choice for this mastermind.

Nyssa Raatko

Nyssa Raatko also known as Nyssa al Ghul is the oldest known daughter of Ra's and half-sister to Talia. She was born early 18th and disassociates herself from her father sometime in the early 20th century. She has lived through WW2, her family she had were victims of the Nazis concentration camps. Even when she begged for help her father did nothing leaving her there. This left her spiteful and out for revenge.

Unlike canon a major change I'm going to make is the WW2 backstory, instead of a Nazi Concentration Camp, It's a Japanese prison in the Philippines. They tried to escape to the Philippines till the war spread there, her husband and sons dying after the "Bataan Death March" and Nyssa becoming one of the many women who are victims of the Japanese, becoming a Comfort Woman. Her evolution post WW2 however is to have her path of vengeance though violence changed into kindness... with violence. Using the generations of wealth she had acquired she becomes an icon of peace to the public, helping third world countries develop, using her sect of League Assassins to kill whoever stops her development, no matter their morals or even compassionate actions. She accidently becomes the very thing she wished to not associate with.

For Nyssa I need an actress who is most likely more mixed compared to Ra's, living in Southeast Asia. She doesn't have to be white and has to be active enough to do some to little fighting.

Elodie Yung is the only actress I thought of. She's the only half asian actress with martial arts training and enough experience in both action and acting. You might remember her as Elektra in Daredevil and as the main character in The Cleaning Lady.

Dusan Al Ghul

The tragic Dusan Al Ghul son of Ra's Al Ghul. A disappointment to his father's eyes he would do anything for his respect, even rising through the ranks under the guise of the White Ghost. He also albino for some reason. I think instead of him being Albino I want to emphasize him being an unintended child. Using those old ideals the Al Ghul's follow he is a bastard in his eyes, it's not just Ra's Al Ghul but the whole family that shuns him.Think Jon Snow or Gendry from Game of Thrones. Decades of longing lead to Dusan's obsessive drive for his family's love.

Joe Taslim has been nothing but delight finding international stardom thanks to The Raid:Redemption and later the HBO/Cinemax show Warrior. Staring in one of the best contemporary action films and martial arts drama, he is perfect to play this bastard son.

Talia Al Ghul

Daughter of the Demon and Mother to Damian, she is a main stay when it come to the Al Ghuls, a master manipulator like her father she later commanded the organization known as Leviathan. From villain to ally, then back to villain it's hard to say where her true loyalty will stand. She sees her methods as absolute and only the most stubborn of personalities could ever change her mind. Not even her own son persuade her, even willing to kill her own son for her own ambitions.

Many of the castings are rather difficult, yet this was a rather easy character to make. Known for her work in the show The Boys and as the character Farah Karim in Call of Duty Claudia Doumit is a Austrailian actress of Lebenese descent. Her prolific filmography has shown she is more than capable of playing this popular anti villain.

Damian Wayne

The newest Robin and biological son of Batman Damian Wayne is DC current wannabe shonen protaganist. He's a great character when writers remember that League of Assassin training means nothing when you fight beside the people who beat them constantly.

Brutal, short-tempered, and looking to be accepted, his assassin upbringing has left many holes in his ability to socialize in modern society. Unable to relate to anybody besides the more upscale aristocratic part of the world. He wishes to grow up so fast only to forget that growing up is part of the process. A major change I want to address is his upbringing, I want to emphasize the brutally conservative nature of the League of Assassins and the cycle of abuse his family continues to use. By embracing his father's side of the family he learns to forge his own identity and unlike many writers right now, learns that he does not want to be Batman and luckily has Brothers willing to carry that weight for him.

Another major character dynamic I want to switch is between Tim Drake and Dick Grayson. I want the antagonistic nature between him and Tim to go from rivals to family, with Tim filling in as the Big Brother role. Dick being the oldest needs to fill the mentor role, especially since he is the Batman to his Robin. By Dick having the more begrudging frenemy nature allows for them to grow as master and student. Think of Damian as Ahsoka Tano with Tim and Dick as Anakin and Obi-Wan during the Clone Wars. Damian grows on you as a character while the other two are more established and likable.You can even fit Drake and Josh on here with Damian as Megan.

Boy have I seen some terrible fancast for this boi. Like I hate all of them, why you casting 20 something you heathens? IMDB, Google, the damn Disney Channel. Can you not find 1 non white child actor? Gordon Cormier is a 13 year old Filipino Canadian actor who is going to play Aang in the Avatar The Last Airbender live action adaption. He is the only actor who can fit all the criteria that I have put for this character. I have scoured the globe and no one in his age bracket will work besides him. If this young man can play Aang, he can play Damian Wayne.

For all that we theorize about Daemon maybe wanting to be married to Viserys I, i think we have to acknowledge just how much Daemon doesnt want to be a “wife” or at least fall into the role of one in his relationships. You see that in his marriage to Rhea Royce, who fills the role of “ruling lord” in the relationship, and he sort of fills the role of “lady wife” She rules Runestone under her own name and power, and any power he is granted there is power she gives him (much like a lord and his lady wife) Daemon rankles under that dynamic, and i think it honestly starts the whole relationship off on the wrong foot. Its also implied he had little choice about marring her, much like a noblewoman wouldnt have much choice in their husbands (obvs noblemen have little choice, but they have more choice than noblewomen and the wouldnt be sold by their fathers like breeding sows.)

His relationship with Rhaenyra initially works for him bc his is in the traditional “husband” position and she is in the more submissive/less powerful/inferior “wifely” position. However, now that she is Queen Regent, and he is her Prince Consort, she is in the traditional “husband” position. Its basically the same dynamic that we see with him and Rhea. And while i do think Daemon believed he would be fine in that position if Rhaenyra was his “husband” (not Rhea) we already see the cracks starting to show as he begins to try and reclaim some of the power he has lost in this new dynamic.

PS i also think if fem!Daemon was married to Viserys I, he would be more of what Visenya was to Aegon I. Powerfully helping him and serving his ambitions, but def not subservient and absolutely serving his own whims/ambitions more than Viserys I (mostly bc Viserys I is no Aegon I

I get a lot of genderbending asks from anons looking for fun AUs and it really made me wonder - I think it would be very convenient and easy for these characters to daydream how their lives would be so much better and how their problems would disappear if only they were female. But the reality is that the confines of womanhood are very real and very distressing - there are a lot of aspects men don't even begin to consider - so, if faced with the actual reality of their lives as women, they would at least second-guess if it was the right decision.

Completely agree with your assessment of Daemon and how he approaches marriage. He would be Visenya born-again as Viserys' wife and would probably end up terrorising and/or exasperating him. Meanwhile, female!Daemon would be aggravated by Viserys' own tendency towards appeasement & non-confrontational nature.

You also nailed his marriage dynamic with Rhaenyra. Had she ruled in her own right, he would have been a nightmare husband, constantly going against her word and presenting her with faits accomplis (just like he did with Viserys). He always expects preferential treatment and to be forgiven no matter what.

I was wondering if you had any theories on why Aemond Targaryen seems to be seen as a much more attractive marriage prospect than Willas Tyrell, despite both of them suffering from the Westerosi stigma surrounding disability. Im basing this supposition in the fact that Aemond is used as a bargaining chip to get the Baratheons on the Greens side at the start of the Dance, and it doesnt seem like the Tyrells have attempted to use Willas as a marriage option to gain more supportive houses for Renly’s campaign. (Later, of course, they offer him to Sansa, but that is when the Tyrells are no longer at war and are allied to the crown/Lannisters through Margery’s marriages.) It just seems the time yo use him as a marriage bargaining chip would have been more usefulI when they were actively backing Renly’s military campaign as opposed to peace time. That makes me think that Aemond was a more “attractive” marriage option, despite both of them being disabled and suffering an ableist society

I recognize Aemond is a Prince and later the brother of the King, but on the Green’s side, he is still 3rd-4th in line for the throne (depending on whether or not Jaehaera is ahead of him in the line of succession. Its less likely that him or his descendants will become King (at least at the start of the Dance) Compared to Willas, who is the heir apparent to Highgarden, and him and his descendants are likely to become the next Great Lords of the Reach. Thats nothing to scoff at.

The only reason i can think of is the the fact that Westarosi society venerates the idea of an ideal man as a warrior, and because of the nature of his injury, Willas is no longer able to fit that ideal. Contrast with Aemond, who became an even better swordsman/warrior after he became disabled. He is still the subject of ableism, but he is more easily able to meet the societal ideal of manhood vs Willas. That likely makes him a more “attractive” marriage option

Hi, there, Elinor, I hope you're doing great! Honestly, I just think it's a story requirement more than anything else. George needs Willas unmarried so that he could be linked in marriage to Sansa and Cersei (or even Arianne). AWOIAF lists him as being 24-27 in 300 AC - so kind of the middle ground between Sansa and Cersei. He can't be younger, because George needs Loras & Garlan to exist for different purposes. He has to be the eldest because that works in Cersei's favour - the future Lady of Highgarden is a very respectable position for the Dowager Queen.

So, I don't really think George was attempting to make much of a commentary on ableism here to the point that other lords would be so repulsed by Willas' disability that not even him inheriting Highgarden could possibly offset that. Also, Willas is not that old - I feel like it could more easily be explained away by other garden-variety reasons like: he just didn't want to get married that soon / had other interests / they just didn't find the right match / his brother Garlan is already married so, if needed, he could be the one to produce heirs etc. As for the marriage alliance to shore up Renly's claim, it could be explained by them not having had the time to find a properly advantageous match (Renly does die quite soon in the war), thus freeing Willas for the Sansa/Cersei failed matches.
