Generally speaking, Kanan could be relied upon to concentrate, and concentrate well. Losing concentration as a chef was something that could easily lose you your job, or various appendages. So he kept it well, despite the storm of chaos that was usually going on around him in the kitchen where he worked.

This had been true his whole life. And it was true up until the day that he, on his way to collect some ingredients, heard the voice from the other side of the swinging doors leading into the kitchen.

“I’d like a few more minutes to consider my options, please.”

It wasn’t anything about what she said— that was pretty commonplace for a restaurant, really. But that voice… sweeter than honey, warmer than hot cocoa on a chilly autumn evening. It rang in his ears like a violin’s melody, and he wished, arbitrarily, he could hear her sing.

Pausing, he took a quick glance out the window of the door, and caught sight of the woman. She was sitting at the table nearest to him, facing away. All he could really see was the collar of a bomber jacket, and two long braids of green hair.

Kanan would have lingered longer, trying to hear that voice again, but he knew he couldn’t. There was work to be done, and also his frying pan was about to combust into flames. So he bolted back to his station and got back to work.

However, when the waiter, his friend Cal, came back in, Kanan couldn’t resist waving him over. “Are you serving table six?” he asked him, slicing up a tomato as he spoke.

“What, the Syndulla party? Yeah, why?”

Kanan hesitated. This was probably a terrible idea, and could maybe get him in a lot of trouble with his boss. But just the memory of that voice… “I need your help with something a little crazy,” he told Cal.

The red-haired man grinned. “I already like the sound of that.”

I did this scene redraw or whatever it’s called because i was supposed to be mind-mapping ideas for my A-Level art Personal Project but couldn’t because the idea of such a big project felt too daunting to start and I had so many ideas in my head I was rendered completely unable to write or articulate any of them. Then I felt so guilty for drawing this instead that I sat down and wrote a far-longer-than-necessary essay about my initial ideas and two artists I could investigate because I have systems in place for writing essays through executive dysfunction but not mind mapping through executive dysfunction. I’m actually irrationally terrified I’m going to be in trouble for not doing the task properly even though I overcompensated out of guilt and my teacher has never been mad at me before. I’m pretty sure he secretly hates me though, expect rationality I know that’s not true and I hate that I can’t convince myself that my teachers are not completely lying to me about everything. i need therapy.

Cham was so confusing to me as a character when I first watched the cartoon. He just showed up in season 2 with no introduction whatsoever and then a few episodes later it's revealed that he's the son of the richest man in the galaxy who is also the reason why the Legion exists in the first place, and his dad didn't seem to be a shapeshifter, which only raised more questions that were never answered. This was never brought up again.

The End-Cretaceous Extinction was one of the most devastating - and tragic - events on our planet.

In the blink of an eye, the world changed from a thriving biosphere to a decimated one. The asteroid caused worldwide wildfires, tsunamis, and the dramatic release of particles into the air that blocked out the sun.

Nothing over 25 kg could survive, because they had nowhere to hide from the devastation. Anything under that limit had to have somewhere to hide - water or burrowing worked best - and something to eat, which was easier said than done. When the plants can't eat, nothing can.

And yet, life survived - not just life, but dinosaurs themselves!

In fact, one of the first fossils we have from the Cenozoic is Conflicto, a Presbyornithid - like "Styginetta" and Teviornis yesterday! - from Antarctica

Why these dinosaurs, and no others?

They had beaks, which would have helped them to access available food sources such as seeds and spores (plant material in a protective casing)

They did not live in trees, but usually near or with water - perfect places to hide

They were powerful fliers, allowing them to escape the flames and whatever else they needed to

Other than that? Random chance.

With all of those newly opened niches, Neornithines adapted quickly, so quickly we can't actually figure out how different major groups of Neoavians - aka, most birds - actually relate to one another.

In fact, many of these dinosaurs evolved right back into niches that their ancestors had famously lived in - penguins show up so quickly that we're giving marine birds their own day, replacing the now-lost Hesperornithines; Tsidiiyazhi and others quickly replaced the empty tree-bird niches left behind by the lost Enantiornithines; and raptors show up quickly too, already reminiscent of the lost Dromaeosaurs.

Qianshanornis, a mysterious raptor from China, had sickle claws just like its lost bretheren! In fact, it looks like it might be a Cariamiform, a group of dinosaurs including living Seriemas and the extinct Terror Birds, which often have sickle claws like Dromaeosaurs did!

Don't fix what isn't broken, I guess!

Non-Neoavians diversified too, with fowl doing just fine across the boundary - Presbyornithids like Conflicto, as well as mysterious forms like Australornis.

Palaeognaths remain weirdly absent, but don't worry - the earilest ones will show up before the Paleocene epoch is done!

The Cenozoic begins with the Paleogene Period, which has the first epoch of the Paleocene - this was a climatic quagmire, with frequent fluctuations at the beginning before a dramatic rise in temperatures at the end. This climate confusion would affect bird evolution greatly - and lead to the diversification of many kinds, some of which we still have today!

The flash of a knife as it plunged deep into a tan chest. Shocked gasps and held breaths. Then…

The thrum of drums. The whistle of panpipes. Thick purple fog rolled through the crumbling remains of the warehouse.

Robin watched as the body on the stone altar rose, the distorted laughter of two voices in the singular body echoing in his ears. He watched as Bernard, the young man he had been on a date with not even 24 hours ago, opened his eyes to reveal glowing orange.

“Oh, how I missed having a body,” he drawled, the two voices distorting his words. “It has been a while since I’ve been given a proper sacrifice.” He chuckles darkly. “Ooh! This will be fun!”

Robin sighed before reaching into his utility belt and pulling out his phone. The blonde tilted his head as he watched the hero dial a number and put the device up to his ear.

“What are you doing?” the distorted voices asked.

The dial tone ended as the other side picked up with a click.

“Hey Cassie,” he began.

Orange eyes widened, black sclera on full display. “Wait. Wait!”

“What’s up, Rob? You rarely call from this number.”

Robin glanced over at Bernard, the current vessel of Dionysus, as he waved his borrowed hands.

“I’ll leave, promise! Just, please. Pick anybody else!” he begged.

Robin sighed again and rolled his eyes. “We’ve got a situation. Can you get to Gotham? Fast? Your uncle is in my b– uh, friend’s body.”

Cassie groans. “Damn, which one?”

“Dionysus.”

The man in Bernard’s body shrieks. “Don’t tell her that!”

“Can you help?” Robin asked.

“Yep, be over in two.”

“Minutes?”

A gust of wind blew past him as Cassie landed.

She smirked. “Seconds.”

Across the stone room, there was a groan and a flash as Bernard’s body split, separating him from the new consciousness invading his mind. Bernard stumbled to his knees. Robin ran over, helping the disoriented young man up. When he looked up, Bernard’s arm slung over his shoulder, Cassie was shouting at a young man with orange fringe and pointed teeth.

“I can’t believe you!” she screamed, dragging him away by the ear. “Do you have any idea how embarrassing it is having to drag your ass back to Olympus!?”

“Ow. Ow. OW! Lighten up on the ear!” the young man screeched.

Cassie growled as he whined. “You better hope that grandfather is nicer than I am.”

“No, wait–”

Cassie disappeared in a flash, taking Dionysus with her. Robin and Bernard watched, one much more aware than the other. Robin sighed, his back slouching. He looked at Bernard, who was looking around with confusion. He smiled lightly, face softening as the blonde tried to find… something. Robin wasn’t quite sure.

“Let’s get you home,” Robin told him.

“Wait wait!” Bernard cried, flailing in Robin’s hold.

Robin slumped as Bernard writhed. “Woah! What? What is it?”

“I just… Can you tell Tim… Tim Drake… that I wish we could’ve finished our date?”

Robin hoped he wasn’t blushing, feeling his throat tighten and his cheeks warm. “Uhm… Y-yeah. Of course. Though, you’ll probably get the opportunity to do it yourself…”

Bernard grinned. There was a glint in his eyes that Robin couldn’t quite place.”

“I sure hope so.”

wtf is going on in tera? im 100% out of the loop lol

species called architecals pops up that are the same face-less anthro thing that terraliens are known for. as of right now architecals are about 5 days old so it's brand new.

terralien staff begin to prove they know what architecals are by staff member Kinah/Vernie putting it on their preference list in the dislike section

staff then proceed to make designs too similar to an architecal design for it to be coincidence, most notably the iron-gate pattern and ribbon-like limbs

bugbox's that has iron gate pattern

fishpert's that also has iron gate pattern

bear's that takes the ribbon-like limbs

bear had even offered on the architecal

architecal owner (AO) confronts them with the fact they made similar designs

proof that bear absolutely knew of the architecal before they made their similar design and that even the other staff were aware

bugbox then comments admitting they did indeed make the design out of spite for architecals looking too similar to terraliens for their liking, even though the architecal design guide explicitly limits designs so they will not be confused for terraliens, which bugbox admits they never even read

as well as saying they 'see no reason the species cannot coexist as long as there's that boundary' despite as shown above the terralien staff were the ones to cross said boundary

which is also hypocritical even if it was based off terraliens since terraliens were only made because they were originally a rejected cham myo

AO did not accept bugbox's 'apology' since all it did was confirm their actions were hurtful

bugbox proceeds to edit their apology

that's the beginning and end of it. even if you argue they aren't 1:1 the fact of the matter is they were made to intentionally spite both architecals and AO.

this shows terralien staff and bugbox in particular to be vindictive and petty, going out of their way to make their designs public and have other staff members aware that then proceeded to join in

Edit: Jan 11 2024 update

A PSA thread for Terraliens was made. It really, really sucked and was remade in the same day. That one's publicly available in the toyhouse service review forum. AO lost their toyhouse account from terra brown-nosers mass reporting them. Terraliens made their own response to it which was lukewarm at best, and then a better one after things had calmed down.

AO was helped by Terra's financially as their toyhouse acct was their main form of income and they'd like for their username to no longer be associated with the drama so they can regrow their audience. If you'd like to donate to them then please do so here. The issue's been considered resolved by both parties

Stupid slime ceiling. Stupid stain. Stupid Jeanie being at work and stupid Seb for…well, not being in the apartment, wherever he was. CJ didn’t like dealing with things, but someone had to deal with slime ceiling. So he decided to paint over it. Because that would totally work. Whilst he wasn’t sure what exact paint he’d need for the ceiling, he figured the home improvement store would have exactly what he’d need. But, it soon got confusing super fast. 

“The fuck is chamoisee?!” He exclaimed loudly, voice resonating through the small space, pronouncing it like cham-mousey, with a frown, addressing the nearest woman. “Why do all these color names not make sense? Like, color names already exist, you don’t need to make shit up.”

The first night had passed quietly, indeed Daisy could not quite remember the time she went to sleep. 4 o'clock? No, at 4 o'clock she was still singing Seventeen songs at karaoke together with Mingyu and Coups. Maybe an hour later, she remembered that she was dead tired and maybe she was already daydreaming when, on her way to her room, she saw Jeonghan soaked to the torso, with his tracksuit in his hand. Yes it must have been a dream.

9:30 am

«Good morning little flower» - Daisy walked into the kitchen with her hair still wet from the shower she took a few minutes earlier . «Good morning to you Junhui, have you eaten?» - She asked him seeing some dishes on the table. «No, not yet. Would you like to join me? I'll make some ramen with coconut curry» - «Ramen with coconut?» - She raised an eyebrow in confusion. «Yes! believe me, we eat it a lot in China, it's very good!». Daisy felt her stomach rumbling so without much thought she confirmed Jun's choice.

«Good morning, are you cooking?» - Dino and Seungkwan entered 10 minutes later, while Jun was already ready to serve his breakfast. «Chan-ie, are you okay? I see you're shaken...?» - Daisy giggled seeing Dino's condition.

The night before there were those who had drunk a little too much, and among them, there was the maknae. «Come on now - sit down and eat with us, there's enough for everyone!» - «No it's OK, I can cook canned ramen» - Chan replied rubbing his eyes. «Canned ramen? We're on holiday, they brought us lots of delicious food and you want the simple ramen we also have at the Hybe canteen?» - Seungkwan replied having a ready answer to everything. «Okay Okay, I'll sit down. Thank you for the food.».

«Okay who does the dishes now?» - Seungkwan came out the question once he had sent down the last mouthful. «I cooked, I deserve the exemption» - «You're right, you can go» Seungkwan told Junhui giving him a round of applause for the excellent dish he cooked. «Okay then let's play Cham-Cham-Cham, the loser will wash the dishes» - Dino proposed and one could see the fear in Daisy's eyes, she always lost when it's the turn of such a game. It was strange not having a schedule and timetable to follow. She had to get used to even the simple fact that she didn't skip the first meal of the day, which was usually the case.

«Cham-Cham-Cham! You lost!!!» - After five rounds it was finally someone's turn to do penance, and that someone was Seungkwan himself. «Come on Kwanie, better luck next time!» - Dino taunted him laughing as Seungkwan hurriedly got up taking the dishes in hand heading towards the sink. «Daisy what are you doing now? I'm waiting for Mingyu to go to the gym» - She took a sip of water and thought about it for a moment.

He ran left and right but the kite stayed down. «There's no wind!» - complained the latter «I give up it won't go» - He continued letting the kite touch the grass, a pout painting his face. «Okay Minghao, that was good, I'm going on the ATV, want to join?» - Mingyu put his helmet on, trying to make Minghao smile from his misfortune. «Nono, go with someone else» - He lay down on the ground with the kite strings twisted all over the place, and Mingyu too excited to ride the ATV, waved him off soon after.

Daisy, on the other hand, didn't want to leave her boyfriend alone, so she lay down with him, looking up at the sunny blue sky. «There's no wind for playing with a kite but at least there's a nice sun, look how bright it shines!» - Daisy wanted to make him smile somehow, stretching one hand towards the sky while with the other she covered her eyes so as not to blind herself . «I know. But...» - «But?» - «Your smile is the most brilliant thing in the world.»

Howzer's face when Rampart threatens Hera oh god, he hates this. Despises it even.

Omega trying to fix Gonky <3 And during all this apparently this is the first time she's been told he's a defective unit, it's the way that Gonky can't fulfill the one thing he's been created to do and they don't make a big deal out of it they just bring him with them because they're defective too and they love him.

Hunter last episode like 'hey Omega made a friend :)' to this episode with 'Omega's friend is instantly and immediately in mortal peril' This kind of thing always happens to them.

Children often overreact! are you using your vast experience with a wide variety of children on that assessment Tech? You weren't even aware children needed friends.

I love every time Hunter stops everything like a hunting dog because he Sensed something. They've never defined anything about how his senses work just he is Aware of things when necessary for the plot.

Honestly if everything were the same but Crosshair wasn't here, I think they wouldn't have tried to back out the second time. But having Crosshair there both ups the chances of them dying or of him dying, and avoiding him is the only way they know of having that not be a possibility. They don't know his chip is out yet, so as far as they know going near him will earn them another 'aim for the kid' moment. They can't reach out to him, he doesn't understand what's going on in his own head, IT HURTS OKAY.

I NEED to see theses two interact again damn it, it would be very reasonable for Howzer to be Pissed at him given the whole arrest thing but he doesn't know how big a deal it is that he was not sniped here instead.

Another reason I think they won't be retiring at the end is that I think there is going to be a bittersweet aspect to the fact that, despite everything, I don't think they're going to be able to give Omega the childhood that Hunter especially desperately wants to give her. They can change how they think of themselves, they can change what they do, but they can't change the fact that war is coming and no matter how hard they try to keep her away from it, there won't be anywhere to run after a while.

Honestly love that this is the biggest motivator behind Crosshair wanting them to join the Empire isn't this specifically, they're in danger for going against the Empire but IF ONLY THEY WERE FIGHTING FOR THE EMPIRE. No more danger!

Just for fun I explained to my partner who knows nothing about CS or art communities except what I've told them about some of the bigger CS. I'm really only into Terras tho but I've heard and seen other stuff like Chams and Danties, and when I was younger I was into Cinnadogs so I know a bit about those. My partner was amazed by the fact that people spend hundreds of dollars on these things. They were really confused by the fact that Chams are one of the most popular CS and some are sold for over 300+ just for a design with no extra art. They asked what made them unique and I said their only two requirements are the nose horn and the tail curl, and some don't even have the tail curl.

Honestly when you step outside the CS world you realize how crazy this stuff sounds to normal people. Like trying to explain why someone would want to pay hundreds of dollars for a basic design just because it's part of a CS and/or was made by a pop designer to my partner made me realize that a lot of this stuff is just so illogical. Why are we spending entire paychecks on these things? Sometimes spending hundreds just to get an MYO. You know, the right to design a basic furry with one or two defining traits and slab the label of a CS on it. Insane.

Also I like the idea that people were so sick of Bart stealing shit that they gave him the card and said all you need to do is tap it and you're done... Who pays for the credit card though?

Callback to s2 and showing how everything always has an effect - they didn’t have to give a reason for Bibbo having CCTV - but doing so connects back to a previous season - whilst showing that that event had a long lasting effect on Bibbo who became more wary/vigilant to avoid such an experience again. Its a tiny detail but a really strong one that emphasises that things don't get forgotten about - No matter big or small, major or minor

“…Uh-huh.” “Wait… 'Uh-huh'? That's it, ‘Uh-huh’? they were with Bart the day before he disappeared - Who are they?” I love this whole interaction... One thing we've learnt from Clark is when he commits to keeping a secret - he commits - even when he's clearly been found out

“I hope the Knight’s slaughter the Monarchs!” I thought this was a really random line to hint toward something in the next episode - but I think its just clicked that she says it because Clark said the Monarch would with and she's in a mood with him for not telling them what they wanted to know - So she's hoping Clarks team doesn't win.

I think its interesting that Z didn't look far enough into the memory to see the very angry time travelling Kryptonian fly onto said camouflaged bioship - probably putting those on board who just ruined his plan in serious danger... Or that no one seems to question Raquel on what actually happened to Lor - I feel its a pretty big detail to not discuss since Dick suspects Bart was on the Bioship... it makes me wonder if he would have still been as quick to move away from looking for Bast had he been aware of Lor escaping to the Bio ship

I like the detail of Artemis being the one to remind Dick & Z of Bart still being missing as they start focusing more on Conner

"Bart made a choice and we should trust him on it" - Gotta love seeing characters actually trust one another instead of judging, criticising, or belittling the acts of others to create conflict and drama. If you wish to gain trust you must show the some level of trust you wish to receive.

Kaldur, while you may have come to terms with Conner’s death… I believe I may have finally come to terms with the beard... It looks a lot better with his hair properly styled - though, Wyynde’s beard better still be gone by the time we next see him - I'm adamant on that one!

Kaldur takes one thorough look at the pinboard and doesn't question a thing... Also I definitely read every visible note on that board and I have no regrets - though I do always find it funny when shows use screenshots for the Show for character photographs - like, that picture of Bart is from Away Mission and is the image used on his DC Database Fandom Page — Who took that photo for it to be a printable picture in-universe - same goes for Conner’s image but I can't think where that's from off the top of my head.

Its a great stylistic detail to differentiate the backwards spells by having Zatanna’s be actually spoken backward while Klarion’s are spoken forwards and replayed backwards

This end credits scene is HORRIFYING and just got worse and worse the more it went on. I don't think I've ever felt such a way about anything as much as this

This episode was amazing - a really great start to what may just be an epic final arc.

As soon as the trip was announced, Gundham knew he was going to hate it. He was only going to please his mother, the angel worrying about his lack of friends at the school, so this was used as a way to ease her mind with the promise that he would at least try to speak with his classmates. There were very few that were worth his time, but Gundham didn’t say as much to his mother, knowing very well she would just scold him, say that you couldn’t judge a book by it’s cover, and he needed to give them a chance. He had scoffed at all this, but there was a smile none-the-less, the breeder knowing very well her worry came from a place of love.

So he had agreed to the trip, and by some humorous twist of fate, Gundham was assigned to be “buddies” with the one person who loathed him the most. 

...Alright, perhaps that was a bit much with what the breeder knew now. Kazuichi...wasn’t all that bad, he simply...

No, it was bad. Any comradery the two had while hunting for his lost pet was surely that of convenience and nothing more. They had hardly spoken after that, so Gundham could only assume his usefulness had come to an end for the mechanic, and now here they were, thrown together by an ill will of causality to spend an entire weekend at each other's side with hardly a hope of reprieve. 

They hadn’t even arrived at the motel yet and already the breeder was on edge, teeth grit and fingers dug into the sleeves of his coat where his arms were crossed as he seethed in his seat on the bus, every noise from his overexcited classmates grinding on his nerves. The only saving grace was his Devas, Cham-P popping out from his coat with what looked to be earbuds in his little mouth. Gundham was confused at first, knowing very well they weren’t his, but he wasn’t about to complain for a moments peace in a maelstrom of sounds. 

The ride after that had been relatively fine, save for having to watch the mechnic out of the corner of his eye to ensure his motion sickness didn’t get the better of him. And if Gundham handed him a bottle of water from his bag when he started to look a bit ill? He simply didn’t want to get thrown up on, was all.

Music playing loud enough that it was a miracle the little speakers hadn’t blown, Gundham almost missed the stopping of the bus, jumping as he was snapped from his day dream when everyone started to exit. The next set of instructions was uneventful, the city was theirs to roam so long as a teacher knew where they were, and they checked in with one every few hours. Curfew was eleven, and groups could pair up, but you had to stay with your buddy to ensure no one got lost. 

The last bit, though, caught Gundham’s attention: There had been a mix up with the hotel, a few rooms that were meant to be doubles were instead booked as singles, and with the full capacity of the hotel, there wasn’t much that could be done about it, save for extra pillows and blankets to be given if someone wished to sleep on the floor instead of sharing a bed. He should have known then and there that the fates weren’t done with him, the sight of a single bed upon opening the door stopping the overlord dead in his tracks, eyes staring blankly at it for several long moments before his bag was dropped inside the door with a rattle of its contents. 

Turning to Kazuichi, Gundham took the mechanic’s bag from his hands, tossing it into the room before pushing him out into the hall and closing the door behind them. “I desire a coffee.” Was the only explanation that Kazuichi got, and since the breeder still had both keys to their room, he didn’t have say in the matter...
