i can't stress enough how badly the man who sold the world tape in mgsv made me need to like bite my own arm off and run around in circles. i'd been told venom was a body double before i started watching my bf play so that wasn't surprising but the way it was FRAMED did things to me. he's not an imposter or a stand in or a false double he IS big boss because they are both together big boss because big boss is just the legend not the man and now he is part of the legend and his actions are in service of the grand plan and he's PART of the narrative and of equal importance and and and. and he walks through the mirror and accepts it and thrives in it and dies for it.
#metal gear#metal gear solid v spoilers#IDK JUST IN CASE#BUT LIKE. MEN WILL LITERALLY BECOME TWO HALVES OF A WHOLE INSTEAD OF GOING TO THERAPY#the legend and the hold big boss has on men is so strong that a guy will be told he's been surgically altered and had false memories#implanted in his brain and it's his duty to live as the legend and die for it in service of some nebulous master plan and he'll go otay!!!!#fucked up and compelling to me. also big boss selfcest is something that can be so personal#WE ALREADY KNOW MY STANCE ON CLONEFUCKING. i was going to say this is more ethical bc he's not actually even a clone#but i think maybe it's less ethical because of the surgery done without his consent. they should still make out sloppy style#witness me

So I finally watched the 2D clone wars show, and I gotta say, it’s PHENOMENAL!!!
I now adore every second of it, in all of its sassy, oversimplified, primitively scripted, 2D glory!!!
I LOVE how Kenobi spends practically the whole time 100% done with everything, Anakin really is a disaster at heart, half the time the animators zoom in on something, just to start at a picture of a droids face while it talks - with zero motion whatsoever, Windu’s rocket punches, Yoda’s dramatic expressions, PADME and the marriage drama, the bazooka ARC (that guy had tired Rex energy, I LOVED it), a very different perspective of the moments right before Kenobi and Skywalker enter the battle of Coruscant, and it clearly was so inspirational for so many other SW shows!!! Not to mention how it flushes out so many things I’ve always wondered about!
And this is where the tradition of warning Anakin of his fate begins! And he still doesn’t get it! AND he’s 100% dramatic ALL THE TIME!!!
It’s amazing!!!
But it does bother me how many of the clones are truly treated as disposable! It’s like the only ones that make it out of the conflicts are the Jedi and the Sith! They just got mowed down left, right, and center!!! It was so cruel to them!!! And they mostly avoided giving ANY of them names!!! Cody was in it, and 1 other named guy but I couldn’t figure out what his name was. The Commander in red who led the ARCs! They were the only clones that (mostly) survived!!! It was so sad to watch them all just get disposed of so quickly and easily! They didn’t have to do that!!!
#it got worse after they actually let us see that one clone trooper’s chin!#that was the only glimpse that there are humans under there#the armor was impressive and surpassingly accurate for a simplified drawing#but why did they treat them like they were expendable???#the Jedi know better than that!#is this why they started the Clone Wars 2008 with Yoda talking about their individuality and Plo telling them they’re not expendable to him#was it because of this show???#WE NEED TO KNOW THESE THINGS DAVE!!! m#AND WHERE WAS REX!!!#the beloved captain was NOT IN IT!!!#Cody got about 5 seconds of screen time which fit his character perfectly!!!#BUT WHERE WAS REX AND HIS BLUE JAIG EYES!!!#and I gotta say the red commander who earned his red jaig eyes was pretty entertaining and dramatic#but ITS NOT THE SAME!!!#where was my hero#the clone wars#clone wars#and all the precursor stuff!!!#Techo Union experimenting on sentient beings without their consent#the bad batch#Ventress!#ilum#bariss and luminara#the mon calamari arc!#shakti#Kenobi determination to stick his face out the door and see everything directly#the way Kenobi practically volunteered Anakin to retrieve the warriors the second he realized his hand was the key#everyone being so suspicious of Palpatine but no one doing anything but protecting him the whole damn time#Anakin shedding his cape in the most dramatic way possible#and diving headlong into danger no second thought at all

You know what would be interesting
since in the show (Danny Phantom) Danny and Dani tell no one that she is her clone, that in a dcxdp crossover
Batman, for whatever reason, stealthily takes both of their DNA, finds out Ellie is a clone and captures her to question her like "do you want to kill your original, who made you and so on" since their experience with clones, superman's and Damian's clones have almost always been "made to kill their original and replace them"
Danny either hears Ellies cry for help or goes searching for her or maybe even the JL call him to tell him, and he gets all mad like " I knew she was my clone, I love her, how dare you, you are the same as her creator taking my DNA without consent who knows what you have planned for it"
I'd read such a fic

My contribution tothe TimKon clone baby AU would be how differently Bruce and Clark react to becoming grandparents.
Clark's becomes white as a sheet when he hears about it. Straight up interrogating him on how he got someone pregnant. When it's revealed that the kid was a clone, he changes his tune and tries to explain that if he didn't feel like he's ready for fatherhood, it's completely okay. But then when Kon explains that he volunteered his genetic material to Tim, he goes back to yelling at him.
My man went through a rollercoaster of emotions and got a migraine.
Bruce by contrast, admonished Tim for getting someone pregnant, then changes it to taking someone's DNA without permission, to not having a child as a child even if the other party consented to it. He goes through the motions of scolding his kid while secretly planning out his grandbaby's room in the manor.
Bonus:
Pa and Ma Kent were disappointed in Kon, but supportive. They were excited to meet their new great grandbaby.
Alfred wasn't even surprised, of course one of his grandkids was going to inherit the collecting children gene, it ran in the family. He just thought it would be Jason first.

Plot Bunny: Danny Is A Clone but with a Twist
Fanfics where Danny is a clone of one of the Bats are not unheard of; however, what about this twist to the idea:
So, writer’s choice on how it happens but regardless Danny and Tim realize they are an exact DNA match to each other. Everyone is assuming clone, but Danny has memories of growing up as a Fenton. Despite Danny’s disagreement, the Bats assume that false memories might be at play, but Danny’s birth records are proven to be real and show Danny is only a few months younger than Tim.
After some digging, they uncover that Danny is indeed a clone of Tim except it was because of a fertility clinic error. That Tim’s parents, Janet and Jack Drake, had used a fertility clinic to insure the one baby she was willing to have would come out with all their desired traits (male, no genetic defects, whatnot.). Once the ideal zygote was created it was cloned to have plenty to work with however many insemination procedures it might take.
However, because of an error, some of those eggs ended up being used for Danny’s parents when they used the clinic some weeks/months later. (Without their knowledge and certainly without the Drake’s consent.) And because his parents assumed Danny got his black hair and blue eyes from his dad, they never second-guessed Danny as not being their bio son.
So, Danny is reeling realizing his parents aren’t his bio parents and Tim is reeling over the news he might not even be ‘the original’ considering how many fertilized eggs are generally used during IVF.
So yeah, clones but not out of some nefarious plot or anything. Just mundane human error, dumb luck, and chance.

New and Improved

tw: implied sexual content, unbalanced dynamics, satoru is a clone, the original gojo did not give his permission for this, you are in a relationship with the clone you created, it's weird but you do both enthusiastically consent

Satoru had to admit - he was surprised when he found out he was a clone.
It's not something he'd ever suspected. Who would? He'd put together that what was happening between you and him wasn't normal, but it never crossed his mind there was another version of him running around somewhere.
The information doesn't really change anything, either. Satoru doubts that you realize this, but he's already put most of it together. The training, the conditioning.
You need him to feel scared when you're away, to be ecstatic whenever you return. You need him to feel incomplete without you. You need him to need you.
It's your form of love; control. Molding him to perfection, to fit into you in all the right places, support you wherever you're weak, supply you with all the love you crave.
If that's what you need, it's nothing. He'll do it all happily. Be it all, just for you, the perfect partner that you're teaching him to be. He's nothing if not a quick study.
This makes him think of this one moment you'd shared, not too long ago.
You'd been cooking for him, making breakfast - you still didn't allow him to handle certain utensils, which he found very cute.
(Satoru doesn't need a weapon to hurt you, or himself. But he wouldn't do that, because it would make you sad.)
Pancakes - with chocolate chips, of course - had been on the menu, and he'd watched from behind you, chin on your shoulder, trying to sneak his arms around your waist while you cooked.
You shook him off, complaining about the heat, the danger of the tools, but not before he won a fond smile and soft kiss on the cheek.
(He knows exactly what to do to make you feel good, and he's proud of it.)
The first pancake smelled amazing - but it was a bit misshapen, the color uneven. He'd thought it looked great, of course; it was the first he'd ever seen. And you made it for him. What could be better?
"No, Satoru," You'd laughed, swatting his hand away. "You'll see. The first one always comes out wrong. The next one will be just right."
And it was. He hadn't known how ugly and unseemly that first one had been, until he'd set eyes on the perfect, second attempt.
Looking at the screen, a frown on his face, Satoru Gojo (the superior edition) can tell that this is the case here.
He's - what even is that outfit? All black, some kind of tracksuit? Why does he wear the blindfold? Are their eyes the same?
Satoru had long since realized that he could see the world in ways that you couldn't, but it had never bothered him.
Apparently, this older version was not of the same opinion. His style was nonexistent. He slouched and yawned and slunk around like some kind of lazy teenager. Spent all his time exorcizing curses - with sloppy form, too.
Sometimes he forms Hollow Purple by combining Red and Blue separately instead of manifesting both at once; sooooo inefficient. It's obvious he's showing off, even with no one watching.
Plus, he sucks as a teacher. Satoru cringes every time he sees his "original" interact with his students.
Like, seriously? He makes the kid watch movies? Sends them directly into combat with no supervision? Regularly runs off to other countries to do dumb exorcism missions instead of taking care of his own kids?
His love life is predictably non-existent, but it's hard to tell if it's because of his obnoxious personality or if he's just intentionally turning everyone off.
What a loser. Satoru concludes after a few healthy days of intensive stalking; the original Satoru Gojo was a bust.
Or maybe just "Gojo". It's not like anyone calls him by his first name, anyways. He's just a curse-killing machine to them.
Even you don't refer to him as Satoru in your notes. He is "Satoru", and the man in the black uniform is "Gojo".
Personally, he doesn't think he should be called Gojo at all. Satoru doesn't want the pretentious clan legacy or the fake prestige - what a bore. He should have your name, your family name.
You made him, you love him. This Satoru should belong to you, and that Gojo can belong to the world.
In a way, he almost feels sorry for the guy. Satoru was born with the same magnificent talent, beauty, skill.
But while Gojo was born to be a sorcerer, Satoru was born to be loved. The man in the surveillance footage wasn't meant to be kept and cherished. He probably didn't even know what love was. Satoru bets this fool couldn't make you feel good if he tried.
That's why you had to make him. The better version. New and improved.
Created and nurtured by your devoted hands. All the love in your eyes, the singular obsession that you seem to think he hasn't noticed.
It's okay. He's obsessed with you, too.
He's starting to get impatient, though. Anyone would.
Even the tamest dog would snap it left alone too long. It's not his fault. You fed him and abandoned him over and over, and now he can't help when he drools, or gets hard, or has adrenaline spiking through his veins so fierce he has to stop himself from stretching the space between you and the door into a vast, yawning chasm of infinity so you never ever leave -
But it's okay. He can fix that. It shouldn't even be too hard. After all, you've shown him how to love this way...

A really underrated part of how the inhibitor chips are handled in canon is the fact that they can't be removed without an invasive procedure that has some risk. Whenever a character has his taken out it’s never necessarily an easy choice, a symbolic reminder that it takes bravery to choose not to be controlled by a system, and it gives these moments a lot more emotionality and impact because it’s not just a convenient plot device to restore or preserve their agency.
The most heroic moment Fives has is when learns he has this thing in him and he doesn't even hesitate to tell AZI to get it out, even if trying might kill him, because it so brazenly defies the way all clones have been positioned as powerless pawns whose individuality and choices ultimately won't matter in the big plan. When Rex has been activated and manages to get out just enough words to tell Ahsoka what to do to help him, it's a pretty powerful way of showing how much he trusts her at the end of their journey together throughout the war. Wrecker is the most hesitant to have his removed because he's scared of surgery but sees it's what is safest for everyone.
And thinking about it this way makes me appreciate why Rex's resistance has generally only been acting to help clones that have already willingly turned on the Empire, even though they always try not to hurt the others who may still on some level not be in control of themselves and, some could say, also need help. It makes me understand why the Batch couldn't just try to capture Crosshair at some point in season 1 and make him get his chip removed, something he'd never agree to while still under its influence.
It's implied that the Kaminoans subjected the Batch and Omega to a lot of scary and probably painful tests and procedures as they grew up - so much that Omega understands Echo being triggered by waking up hooked up to monitors and she dreads going back to being used in a lab. Fandom plays this up for angst in fanworks and rightfully calls the Kaminoans horrible for denying them agency over their own bodies in this and many other ways. Even if for a much better reason, the clone troopers who've left the Empire don't really have the right to treat their brothers that way and risk their safety when they're not in a state of being able to consent to it.
Just as none of the clones can reasonably hold themselves accountable for things they've done because of the inhibitor chips, they also can't be considered responsible for saving each other from being controlled by them. It's the Emperor and the Kaminoans that did this to all of them.

What if Worst Wolverine was the same Wolverine from Origins? What if he learned that "Deadpool" Wade Wilson was "Weapon X" Wade Wilson?
Inspired by this ask.
---
When Logan first met Wade in the bar, he felt oddly familiar. Like he knew him, but he couldn't quite place where. He felt nostalgia and regret and something else bubbling up to the surface without his consent. It felt foreign, and he brushed it off when he sobered up. But he kept it in the back of his mind.
But he kept being familiar. His voice, the way he fought, his mannerisms... it was all reminiscent of somebody he felt he should know. Someone long gone.
But it couldn't be, right? All of his old teammates were dead. If this world followed a similar timeline, there's no way this could be someone he knew. He must just be grasping at straws. Delusional, as usual.
It all came to a head a few weeks after the dust had settled. Wade and Logan were drinking together in their apartment, and Wade lopsidedly grinned at Logan with flushed cheeks. Logan felt his heart stutter.
"You know, you were just as cool back then," Wade giggled. "You looked good when you were younger, though I think the silver fox look fits you more with the grey streaks."
Logan frowned. "What do you mean when I was younger?"
"C'monnnnn Wolvie," Wade cooed as he leaned his head against his hand. "Back when we were in the Weapon X program together? I mean, we might not have been the best of buddies but it's kind of mean of you to forget about me."
It's like a part of Logan's brain unlocked. Wade fucking Wilson. Of course Logan remembered him, but he was so different that Logan had never made the connection.
Logan had a complicated relationship with Wade. He both respected him and thought he was a nuisance. Wade's skills were undeniable, but so was his motor mouth. Logan groaned in annoyance most of the time, but Wade's quips had managed to pull a snicker out of him on more than a few occasions. He tried to feign annoyance, but despite what people said, Wade was funny. His jokes were one of the only things that brought any life to the dreary and harsh environment.
Back then, Logan had still been tangled up with Victor and didn't let himself get too close to others (for both his own and their sakes). Still, Wade had found him in the corner of a bar a few times when the rest of the team was partying. He'd sat next to him and just... kept him company. He rambled on about inconsequential things, avoiding the more serious topics. He offered a distraction, a reprieve from the constant violence and solemn atmosphere. Logan appreciated it more than he could convey at the time.
And on the rare instances where Logan wanted to talk, Wade listened. Even if it was drunken gibberish, regrets and frustrations and feelings spilling out into the open. More notably, he didn't report him for having second doubts about the missions. Anyone else would've. Logan didn't do friends back then, but he'd consider Wade the closest thing he had to one.
And then Logan had quit. And left behind his teammates, cutting off all chance of further development. And then Logan had returned, but too late. By then, Wade had been turned into that... thing... by Stryker.
Oh god. The thought of it made Logan want to throw up. Wade, always chattering, with his mouth stitched shut. A mindless drone made to obey orders, a complete antithesis to the man who bent the rules and smiled privately at Logan when he rambled about what could be interpreted as treason. A mockery of everything he stood for.
That Wade was... the same as his Wade. Deadpool was Wade Wilson. Wade Wilson now was the same Wade Wilson from back then.
That means in his world, he'd let Wade down. He'd abandoned him and left him to be experimented on. Worse, he'd killed him. Logan killed Wade.
Fuck. The reason he didn't recognize Wade in the bar was because his was long dead. A clone that he himself had killed.
He looked at Wade, blushing and smiling with adoration in his eyes even as he feigned indignation at Logan not remembering. He looked at Wade and imagined him trapped in his own body, personality erased and gone. He imagined him with his mouth sewed shut, never to speak again. With a flat and empty stare instead of the twinkle in his eye.
Wade had saved him from himself. He'd given him a new home and fought for him to keep it. He'd been willing to die for Logan when nobody in his own universe would so much as look at him. Logan owed him an insurmountable debt, one that he couldn't even begin to repay in this lifetime. But he was trying. To make Wade happy, at least. It was his purpose in this world and would continue to be until Wade decided to throw him out or he finally kicked the bucket.
So the realization that he'd failed his own Wade so horribly made him viscerally ill. Even back then, Wade had been the only one to really see him when nobody else did. When even Victor just looked for a distorted reflection of himself and when everyone else wanted a mindless tool, Wade acknowledged Logan.
In a time when Wade didn't owe Logan shit, when he could've gotten in trouble for being complicit if Logan actually went through with what he said, Wade still protected him. And Logan didn't even think to check up on him in return. (Even when he knew Wade checked up on him. The Tylenol and water beside his bunk didn't appear out of nowhere. He didn't even remember climbing into bed before he passed out.)
Logan left him to die. Logan let Wade die. Wade, who was smart and funny and charming and caring and everything Logan was not. Wade, who had all of that stripped from him while Logan got to keep living. Logan, who took that chance and spat on Wade's fucking grave by ruining it all.
Logan wanted to throw up.

Animorphs Reread- The Message
I've been sick all week, but Cassie is here to heal me. Let's get into it.
These early books all do a great job of showing us what the kids would prioritize their powers for without the war. Rachel and Tobias become ecoterrorists. And Cassie investigates what's been eating her animals.
Also the first sign of Cassie having Magical Powers.
I don't know how much time has passed since book 3, but i love that Cassie and Tobias are all jokes now about him eating live rodents.
"I would be glad to give him a picture of me in a dress or something" -GIRL PLEASE
I know that the group (esp Rachel) can get antagonistic with Marco, but we have to give it to him here. He didn't get overly defensive or combative. He knows why they're acting this way towards him. And he just comes out and reassures them that he's on their side.
And the yeerks begin to suspect that the "Andalite Bandits" might actually be humans. I forgot that it was brought up this early in the series. Because these kids were thoughtful, but early on they really weren't as careful as they should have been. Truly the only reason their secret went on for so long was that no one was brave enough to tell Visser 3 he might be wrong.
As a kid I always had more of a crush on Marco. But the way Cassie talks about Jake? I get it girl. 13 year olds are swooning.
Wait. This farm has been in your family since the Civil War? Putting aside the theory that these kids are somewhere in California (not canon. i get it). You're telling me that this Farm has been in Cassie's African American family since the American CIVIL WAR??? Sure, Let's not explain further.
Cassie's book is also the first time we get the dialogue over the ethics of morphing. I understand some of the hate Cassie gets, but honestly, when people complain about her always talking ethics? Get over it. It's a good thing. These are middle schoolers. The fact that they're having discussions over the ethics of taking animal dna, cloning that animal, and then mind controlling it? And then the variances depending on which animal/their intelligence level/asking consent? We should want our kids talking about this kind of thing.
"We can all morph fine" -oh the humility. a humble queen. but no Cassie. You are an artist sculpting a beautiful pot, and the others are kindergarteners smashing clay into makeshift ashtrays that their parents won't use.
It's bittersweet how these kids only get to act like kids by giving in to the dolphin mind.
Hold up, THIS is when they think of using the morphing power to heal? I guess it is? Their missions so far have been failures, but they haven't involved near death injuries. This is a bizarre realization.
I really love this moment between Cassie and Marco. Cassie is often portrayed as this wise earth mother type. But here we get to see that this is a major growing up moment for her. She needs to start making active decisions, and not just letting other people take responsibility. The war makes this transition a bit more life and death than most teenagers get, but still necessary.
This plan! This is the one. They're finally being smart about this. Morphing gulls to get a ride on a ship? Resting before going dolphin? They're finally thinking strategically.
Ax's introduction is just so beautiful. He's a child, raised by a militaristic education system during wartime. And now he's alone and afraid and trying very desperately to impress and assess these aliens who in a matter of minutes have just told him that his older brother (the War Hero) has broken their most sacred laws and was murdered by Visser 3.
This is also the first time we hear the black and white version of the andalites vs yeerks. I know that the truth is much more complicated than what Ax is saying. But right now, it's just a group of kids talking. One side is fighting to save others. One is fighting to destroy others.
And there we have it. The team is all together finally. A lot of firsts in this book that I had forgotten about. I'm excited to re-experience these kids integrating Ax into the group. Also, grateful for magic talking whales.

Very annoying to be scrolling through the timkon clone baby tag only to stumble across a post saying that it’s Problematic Actually (TM) to enjoy the AU because of the nuclear family and consent issues or whatever. Like buddy people are aware that cloning someone without their approval is wrong irl and that it most likely won’t lead to a traditional healthy romantic relationship between the cloner and person who got cloned, fan aren’t fucking stupid. I’m sorry you can only like tropes if they’re morally pure and have zero uncomfortable implications but the rest of us like having fun.
