“Hello, Mr. Wayne. I’m calling on behalf of the Amity Park police department. I… god, there’s no easy way to say this. We found a dead body, and genetic tests identified you as the next of kin.”
A mixture of icy fear and confusion pooled in Bruce’s chest, and he felt himself lean against a wall for support. “What? Who? But, Damian was just here!”
“Don’t worry, it’s not him.”
“He’s the only blood relative I have.”
The officer sighed. “I dunno what to tell you. We don’t know. Kid was dead for months before we dug ‘im up, so identifying any other details towards his previous identity has been… difficult. We don’t even have any missing persons reports it could match. Quite frankly, we were hoping you’d know something, ‘cause we’ve been coming up blank.”
“I will,” Bruce rushed out unthinkingly, his mind still caught up on the word ‘kid’.
“What?”
“I’ll help however I can. Amity Park, you said? Where is that? I’ll book a flight right away."
“No, really, sir. I appreciate it, but you don’t need to do that. No offense, Mr Wayne, but you’re not a forensic analyst.”
The words ‘yes I am’ balanced on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn’t say them. Batman was the detective, not Brucie Wayne. But Batman didn’t have any reason to travel so far afield to investigate a single dead kid, so Bruce Wayne would have to do.
“I at least want to take a look.”

Another Clone Danny x batfam au, Danny was also full dead before he's shoved into a clone body, but it's not really relevant in this part.
[Pt2: here]
Danny isn't a hundred percent sure how he got here. Last thing he remembered was running away from the GIW and his parents. They got a lucky shot on him, and he was losing ectoplasum fast. He's pretty sure he was about to fully End. He remembers being mildly amused over his parents' inventions killing him twice, before it all goes dark.
He woke up as a baby. A clone baby by the looks of his environment, an underground lab(?). His creator(?) is staring at him as if he's a miracle, and given the fancy sci-fi screen thingy (a tablet? Or ipad? He's not sure how he knows these terms) in front of the cloning tank say "attempt 99", he probably is this guy's miracle.
Danny doesn't see anyone else around, and this guy, a teenager about Jazz's age (?), seems happy on a personal level to see Danny wiggling in the tank. So it's not likely he was forced to do this. Whatever this is..
"I did it...? Holy shit! I did it!" The teen cheers before freezing, "I'm a parent now.. I did not think this through... welp, I'm a parent now."
The guy checks his vitals before draining the tank. Danny is handled as if he's the most precious, yet breakable thing in the world to this kid.
"Hello, I'm Tim, your dad, I guess." The kid, Tim, introduces himself, and Danny giggles at him because if Danny was a normal baby, he'd have no idea what he was saying. "You're the clone of my dead best friend. He was half kryptonian. I promise to do my best to help you learn your powers and culture. I'll break into Clark's ice fortress if I have to to do it."
Danny has no idea what any of that means, but Tim seems determined, so Danny isn't too worried. He's more worried about the power thing. Are they going to be completely different from his old ones? Does he still have access to his ghost powers?
His little baby body can't handle his big emotions, and he starts crying. Tim panics, checking for mess, before realizing he doesn't have baby supplies. He clearly didn't think his cloning attempt would work with how unprepared he is. And that's valid if Danny really is his 99th attempt.
Tim bundles Danny up and rushes them to the nearest store that has baby supplies. Danny is clothed and fed promptly and given a wolf plushy. Danny isn't sure about the wolf thing, but the stuffie does sooth his baby instincts, so he rolls with it.
"Alright, baby. I... I didn't think of a name for you. I originally was trying to make a clone closer to Kon's age and figured they could name themselves, like Kon did." Tim sighs, slightly rocking Danny in his arms. "Man, I must seem insane talking to a baby. A baby I made because I couldn't deal with one more person in my life being dead or gone."
Danny notes the interesting wording.
"Okay. Can you understand me at all? I forgot to adjust the knowledge download to a year old's level, but that doesn't mean your baby brain absorbed any of the info."
Ooooh, that explains why he knows things that didn't exist where he's from.
Danny blows spit bubbles and attempts to nod. It's a bit hard, his baby muscles not developed enough for the action. Tim understands, though.
"Okay, okay." Tim looking both scared and relieved. "How about you pat me once for yes and twice for no? At least for now. I don't want you to hurt yourself."
Danny lightly smacks a hand to Tim's face. They both giggle over it.
"Alright, so I'm going to list off names, and you can tell me yes or no, okay?" One pat. "Okay, let's see."
Danny wonders if he can get a new name that can still let him have Danny as a nickname.
"Jasper" No
"Darin" No
"Dugu" No??
"Presh?" No! Tim? Where are you getting these names??
"Ratan" No
"Cicil" No
"Matthew" No
"Theo?" No
"Alihan" No
"Atiya" Nope
"Tesher" No
"Senai" No
"Uuum... Habwat?" No
"Geoffrey" No
"Amari?" Nope
"Jordan" ... huh, technically could get Danny from that, but still. No.
"Riley?" No
"Drew?" Nope
"Nova" Oooo so tempting, but no
"Esteban" Nope
"Izar" No
"Aedan?" You know what, good enough. That's Danny's new name.
Tim looks misty eyed when Danny finally agrees to a name.
"Alright, welcome to the world, Aedan Drake." Danny blows bubbles at him. "We'll visit adding Kent and getting you a proper kryptonian name when you can actually speak and understand what those names mean. Kon's human name was Conner Kent, and his kryptonian name was Kon-El. It translates to abomination of the house of El. He was a clone of Kal-El and wasn't treated well for it. I won't let the Els treat you as they treated him."
Tim looks pissed on his friend's behalf and cradles Danny protectively.
"The Els don't matter anyways. You will always be a Drake. And Drakes protect what they claim with viciousness." He kisses Danny's forehead. He then moves to the fanciest computer Danny has ever seen, and with the hand not supporting Danny's body, starts designing what appears to be a bulletproof and stabproof baby carrier. "I should have waited til after I finish hunting for clues to get Bruce, he's my adoptive father, out of the timestream. My siblings think I'm crazy, which creating a clone isn't helping my case over, but I know he's alive. I found evidence, just not enough to prove it to them."
Danny starts nodding off. Tim's ramblings are soothing and his hold gentle, Danny's tiny baby body doesn't stand a chance at staying awake. He's sad he's missing out on all the dad lore because of it.
Once the carrier is ready, Tim starts going out and taking Danny with him. Danny is actually pretty safe on these outings. The carrier is bulletproof, stabproof, has tinted bulletproof glass so Danny can get sun without people seeing him, it's temperature controlled, well ventilated, and has plenty of cushion. Seriously, Danny is sure the whole thing is like 60 pounds with him in it, but Tim gives zero fucks. He's determined to keep Danny safe.
It's super touching. And Danny swears to one day return the favour. The day is closer than he thinks when a creepy old fucker crawls out of the woodworks. Danny hates him instantly. Tim explaining the creep's relation to Tim's family doesn't change Danny's mind. In fact, it probably makes his opinion on this Ra's Al Gul even worse. And once he sees how that pedo looks at his sweet new dad, he plans to be an absolute menace.

"Hey, can you move your Lantern Corp away from my Grave? Your blocking the view."
"What?" Hal said startled as he noticed a floating white hair teen with green eyes looking annoyed.
It would've be common event if it weren't for the fact that they in the middle of space near Mar.
"Could you please move the lantern Corp away from my grave, it's blocking the my view of the stars." The boy said pointing back at mars then back at Green lantern Corps.
"This is the second time this happen and I would like to just rest in peace."
The more Hal look at the floating boy, the more he realized how humaniod and alien like he began to look, the clear white hair with sparks of stars dust in it, the freckled covering his face look a splatter of dwarf stars, the toxic green eyes, and the odd looking clothes that look barely human like with the kind of reptile skulls on his shoulders.
Oh
OH
Oh..
"I'll tell them to move it from your view.." Hal said paling a bit as later on he went closer to Mars where that floating alien child has pointed then disappeared.
Only to see a makeshift grave made from unknown mineral in the red dirt that looked ancient and beyond dusty level that almost made him sneeze.
Hal move the dust away from the tombstone like made of extinct like mineral, with a name that took his lantern green 3 hours to translate which static and glitch.
"Danny phantom
Brother
Planet Savior
Hero
Clockwork's apprentice
Forever King of balance
May he sleep peacefully."

Lost Body
DP x DC Prompt inspired by Chino's video about Lost Kin on yt
The Ancients are trusted with watching over their King's corpse while their King is working on specific matters that require him to be a Ghost and not a mortal. Nocturne is watching over his King's corpse. After what had happened to the entirety of their King's fraid, he remains in the Infinite Realms. He took his corpse with him after a close call with the white suits in finding it, Clockwork was able to convince their King to allow the Ancients to look after his corpse on a rotation schedule. Their King does some work on the Infinite Realms, leaving his corpse in the care of an Ancient, and when their King is ready to be "alive" again, he takes back his corpse and goes to live in a random dimension.
It was just another normal day in the Infinite Realms for Nocturne, just looking through the dreams of the many living beings in all the Realms, when a strange power had caught the Ancient of Dreams attention. The Ancient had looked around its lair for anything amiss, which nothing was, at first. The Ancient of Dreams soon realized that his King's corpse was missing.
The Justice League has dealt with the GIW. They were investigating that branch of the government for a while now. After an incident in a small town named Amity, they had to speed up their efforts to shut down that government branch, as Constantine told them about the dangers of the Infinite Realms Ghosts can bring if they are ever insulted in any way.
They had learned that a local protector Spirit named Phantom had become the new Ghost King after Pariah was released recently and that Phantom had worked with the Fenton family to protect the living and the dead. But the GIW had done something to get rid of the Fenton family, two teens that are best friends with one of the Fenton kids, and one Vlad Masters. They had also learned that only 3 out of 4 of the Fenton kids had been accounted for when the GIW had attacked and killed them. The youngest son, Daniel Fenton, was unaccounted for when the GIW had attacked them, Phantom was seen trying to protect them but failed. They had come to the conclusion that Daniel had been taken by Phantom for protection against the GIW and that Phantom was trying to do the same with the rest of the Fenton family.
When Constantine had activated the summoning circle for the Ghost King, none of them expected to see the corpse of Daniel Fenton in the summoning circle. They all argue among themselves about whether Phantom did this or not when Red Hood, here with the rest of the Batfam, other than Oracle and Agent A, had approached the corpse of Daniel Fenton. Something had happened, and Red Hood had collapsed, and the corpse of Daniel Fenton had stood up. The empty eye sockets of Daniel Fenton's corpse now glow an eerie Lazarus Green, and soon, all of the present Heroes had collapsed as well, their consciousness' dragged into the corrupted dreams of the corpse of the Ghost King's mortal body.
The Justice League, the Batfam, as well as some Young Justice members and Jon must fight the crazed imitation of Daniel within the corrupted dreams they are in, while the corpse looks for more of the Ectoplasm it had taken from the revenant.
Meanwhile, Danny is on his way to Nocturne's lair to retrieve his corpse to try and live again, not knowing that his corpse is semi alive and about to cause havoc in his home dimension.

DANNYMAY DAY 09: Underground
Day 08 • Day 10
⟢ I was getting confused with this prompt. As—underground could mean so many things, depending on the context. But one idea kept clawing back into my brain—corpse AU. And oh, dude. I got way too hyped about it. Turns out, @ghostlyglimmer and I had the same deliciously dreadful idea! Go check out her hauntingly good work here! As for mine? Uhh, well—I turned Danny into uhh—something a little more post-mortem than usual (duhh). Think like—half-dead, half-ghost, full-on corpse aesthetic. Possessed corpse? Danny as a ghostly remnant that crawled his way out of his grave. (More under the cut)
Genre: Angst / Horror • TW/CW: Death — Memory Loss — Identity Loss — Emotional Distress • AU — OOC
Tumblr media
Danny was dead. He just didn’t know.
His eyes snapped open to pitch black—thick, suffocating, endless. The silence was too loud.
Then—
A green eerie light. A flickering glow bloomed somewhere in the dark. Acidic light pushed into retinas that no longer needed to see, searing across nerves that shouldn’t be burning. He gasped, or… he tried to. But his lungs didn’t move. His heart didn’t beat. No air, no space. Just… cold.
There was nothing. No memory. No name. No life.
All he knew he was trapped.
I need to get out.
He reached upward, lifting his trembling hands—and they met something rough. Wooden. Dry. Pressed against his palms like a lid. A box. Too small, too tight.
A memory sliced through the fog—white light, searing heat and pain. A scream that never ended.
His.
“No,” he rasped, his voice cracked like brittle glass. “No, no—”
Panic shot through him. His fingers clawed upward again, splinters digging in—except… they didn’t. His hand passed through the lid. Not touching it. Just… slipping.
“The fuck…?”
His breathing quickened—but there was nothing to breath. His chest rose on instinct, not oxygen. There was no warmth, no blood. But something churned inside him, rising from deep within the center of his chest. Something icy. Wild. Terrified.
Realization crept in—this was a coffin. A grave. He was underground, sealed in silence and death.
Six feet under. Buried. Gone.
“I’m not—I’m not dead!”
His body shuddered. A jolt of agony ripped through his spine.
He screamed, and then—something changed.
His clothes tore into black and white in a blur of flickering energy. He didn’t feel it happen. He didn’t mean to. He just panicked—and something inside him answered.
He clawed his way upward, intangible, through dirt and soil and death. His body no longer felt like his own. Cold. Weightless. Wrong.
He burst out of the earth and soil with a gasp he couldn’t feel. And when he looked down at his hands—they weren’t the same. They were covered with white gloves, faintly glowing, trembling. His hair was pearl-white, catching the corner of his glowing green eyes.
And finally, he understood.
He was a ghost.
But he didn’t know who he’d been, didn’t know what he’d lost, didn’t know how he got here or why his bones felt weightless and hollow. Didn’t know what came next.
All he knew was that he’d died… and death hadn’t stuck.
Tumblr media
They’d buried him alive—or so it felt. But no… he’d been dead. Truly dead. And now he was back—aware, conscious, no longer rotting in silence. No longer sleeping in that box meant to hold him forever. And now? He was alone, hollow, lost. With no memories, no name, and nothing but the weight of death clinging to his… skin, he had to piece together a life he couldn’t remember.
“I’m not… I’m not dead. I’m here. I’m still here. But I don’t feel anything. I don’t need to breathe—I don’t need oxygen. There’s nothing inside me. No heartbeat. No warmth. Just this… silence and… cold. I’m a ghost. I’m a fucking ghost. Fuck. No. Why? Why wouldn’t you just let me die? Why couldn’t you let me rest in peace?”
He swallowed hard, even though he didn’t need to.
“What do I remember? I remember… a flash—no, a blast—of… of white light, ripping through me. I remember the pain—so much pain—tearing through every nerve like… like fire. I don’t… that’s all. That’s all I have left. There’s… there’s nothing else.”
He grabbed his hair with both hands, pulling so hard like it might help him get his memories back. Confused… he was so confused. Panic consumed him again. He could still feel—but it was hollow, empty. Feeling devastated. Like remembering emotions he couldn’t place. The physical sensations were gone. No pain, no nerves. Just… nothing.
Or at least, that’s what he thought.
The only thing he felt was weightlessness. Like gravity had let go of him. Like the world no longer needed to hold him down.
He let go of his head, lowering his translucent arms as he slowly turned around. His eyes landed on the stone sticking out of the earth—the one he’d just crawled from.
There was a name carved into it.
“Daniel James Fenton.”
He stared. The letters made sense. He could read. So… not all of his memory was gone. But the name—it didn’t mean anything. It didn’t feel like his. He could still speak. That was something.
“The fuck is happening to me?”
His knees gave out. He sank to the ground, one hand sliding up to the gravestone. His gloved fingers traced the curved lettering with a kind of detached reverence.
“Was that… me?”
He asked himself. But no answer came. He sighed—a useless motion, but it came anyway. Muscle memory, maybe. A mimic of something human.
His fingers hovered over the name like it might spark something—some memory, some feeling. But there was nothing. Just letters. Just stone. Just silence.
“That… is me?”
He whispered again, quieter this time. But the wind didn’t answer either. He stared at the name like it belonged to someone else. Someone real. Someone who was loved, who laughed, who had a life. Someone human.
But that wasn’t him anymore.
Whoever Daniel James Fenton was… he’d been buried six feet under. And what clawed out of that grave wasn’t the same.
He sat back, knees sinking into the soil, the chill of death wrapping around him like a second skin. His white hair drifted in the still night air. His chest didn’t rise. His body didn’t ache. His heart didn’t beat.
But something deep inside him did hurt. And he didn’t even know why.
“I don’t… I don’t know who I am.”
He said, voice barely above the wind, like a broken echo. But the grave didn’t answer.
And neither did the boy… who once lived.
Tumblr media
⟢ That second part wasn’t planned—it just came out of nowhere. And I really needed to stop myself before I ended up writing an entire phic about it, lol.

Organ Donor Corpse AU
Organ transplants save lives. Danny has a saving people thing and a bunch of organs he doesn’t need. Put them together and what do you got? Chaos.
Ok so I’ve seen 2 versions of Corpse AU. One where there’s just the one body from his original death, and one where he leaves a corpse every time he goes ghost.
So for the first version, Danny decided he wanted to be an organ donor before the accident. Then he dies, and his body is found before he could figure out how to turn back human and hide cover it all up. Danny is declared dead and his organs are given to compatible patients.
This is where it gets interesting. Everyone thinks Danny is dead. Heck, even Danny thinks he’s dead. Before all this he didn’t think ghosts were even real so who’s to say they don’t have the ability to mimic life? That sounds like something his parents would believe evil ghosts could do. He figures he’s just a ghost with the ability to pretend to be alive. But that feels mean and cruel. Everyone already knows he’s dead so what’s the point in pretending otherwise? Danny doesn’t want to be like the evil ghosts his parents speak of. So now he’s just Phantom. Only Sam and Tucker who saw it happen know that Phantom is the ghost of their friend Danny.
(Huh kinda like a reverse “no one knows” AU. Instead of being secretly dead, he’s secretly alive.)
Meanwhile the patients who received the organs of Danny Fenton are experiencing weird symptoms. Because technically, each and every one of them is both part Halfa and also a living grave to the Halfa who made them so. And a ghost always knows where their grave is. They can feel if it is desecrated. So what does it mean that Danny’s grave is a bunch of people? A bunch of people he never met, people whose lives he saved, people who are now mysteriously developing ghost powers after their operations. Phantom knows where each of these strangers are at all times and he can feel if they are in danger.
Does this turn into a religion? A cult? Do any of the organ recipients resent what they have become? Who begins to investigate why people are developing ghost powers? SHIELD? Justice League Dark? MACUSA? (ETC Insert crossover of your choice here) or just the plain old GIW?
It would make an interesting story no matter what you pick.
Now on to the second version. Danny dies and leaves behind a corpse every time he goes ghost. That adds up to a lot of bodies. A lot of organs. A lot of lives he could save. And also a lot of evidence to hide.
Like damn, not only is Danny a teenage vigilante dealing with school and bullies and crazy ghosts and ghost hunting parents and a frootloop godfather, but he also on top of all that, has to dispose of a ton of bodies. Sam and Tucker are great at stuffing dead Danny into closets whenever a ghost attacks but he isn’t gonna make them dig graves with him.
Vlad has his own crematorium but like hell is Danny gonna ask him for help. Besides, it just feels like such a waste. People die every day waiting for organ transplants and he’s just throwing them away. But Danny is only 14. He can’t start his own shady medical practice or black alley organ trade. Sure, maybe when he’s older he will make his own organization so that he can make sure things are run as ethically and safely as possible. But for now? He can’t do that.
Tucker goes onto the dark web to find criminals who deal in organs. Sam uses her rich girl skills to bargain and set up the business. Danny works on the practicals for times and pipeline of shipments. And now there’s a new owner of the ice-cream shop. Sam and Tucker have keys to the giant cooler there. “Ice cream” trucks stop by frequently to make pick ups.
Sam, Tucker and Danny are making bank. Danny does feel guilty that the money is coming from people so desperate they’re willing to buy black market organs, but he at least knows that he’s saving people. And he figures that every organ he donates is one less that the criminals would just steal out of some poor victim’s body. He donates most of his money and keeps what he can pass off as savings from odd jobs. Tucker invests his share. Sam doesn’t need the cash but she puts some away in an emergency fund in case they need to go on the run.
Now as before, the fun comes from the consequences of all this. Do some superheroes bust the organ smuggling ring and the huge quantity of merchandise leads them to suspect human trafficking? Do they realize the organs are all genetically identical and conclude it’s byproducts of a cloning facility? Is this how they find out that Danny really is a clone of one of the superheroes? Do the transplants still give ghost powers and are people clamoring to get one even if they don’t need a transplant? Is some villain (HYDRA, LoA insert crossover here) making an army of super ghost powered soldiers?
Whatever you choose it’ll be crazy.

Y’all really like OP Ghost King Danny and I’m a sucker for Kaiju like battles.
How would you think a fight between Danny and a Monitor end up? Bonus question: during Infinite Crisis on Infinite Earths, what would Danny’s part be in defeating the Anti-Monitor and how would he end up?

What if Danny photographs weird even in human form, and it outs him to his class. Like, his ghostly traits are more prominent or something. So he just leans into it to get them to keep their mouths shut.
Danny, staring wide-eyed at the class photo being projected on the whiteboard: eh... shit..
Mr. Lancer, looking between the photo and Danny: Who are you?
Danny, glancing at his horrified classmates: Er, still Danny Fenton, unfortunately
Dash: Fenturd is possessed??
Danny: What?? No!
Kwan: Then-?
Danny: Ugh! I died a while ago! It's not my fault you didn't notice!
Mr. Lancer, paling: Great Scotts Fitzgerald! Mr. Fenton, how long?
Danny, awkwardly: So remember how I had an accident my freshman year? Cause yeah, didn't survive that.
Star, gasping: But-but-
Danny, sighing: Look, it's fine. Don't worry about it. Just pretend you don't know. My parents can't know. I'm not willing to see if their parental love will win out over their hatred for ghosts.
Dash: Fuck, I didn't think of that.
Danny, nods: I tried not to change my behavior too much so they won't catch on and ... vivisect? Dissect? Whichever applies in this situation. So they don't experiment on me.
Kwan: If you're dead... where's your body?
Danny: erm... I'm not sure it exists? I'd have to figure out how to turn off my parents' portal without it blowing up to check. I was standing inside it when it turned on. Got to say a hazmat suit does nothing to protect you from being torn apart by a portal to the Infinite Realms. It's an awful way to go.
Star, gasps: Wait! Phantom wears-!
Danny, changes to Phantom for shits and giggles: a hazmat suit? Yeah. I know.
Dash, faintly: I've been bullying my hero...
Mr. Lancer: Oh! That's why you run out of class!
Danny: mhm, I turned on the portal, the ghosts are my responsibility. I don't want anyone getting hurt, so I'll take the brunt of it until I die again.
Mr. Lancer: while that is admirable, Mr. Fenton, you are still a child. You shouldn't be dead or be carrying this burden.
Danny: Yeah, shouldn't, but am and do.
Star: We should make you a grave!
Danny: Huh??
Star: I assume you don't have one?
Danny: Well, no. Only my sister, Sam, and Tucker knew I was dead before this. We don't like to think about it more than we have to, plus there's no body to bury..
Star, turns to the rest of the class: Hear that! We're getting Phantom a gravelot and a headstone!
Paulina: It would be nice to have a spot to drop off gifts.
Kwan: And the Fenton siblings and their friends will have a spot to mourn.
Danny, touched: Thanks, guys. I...I didn't think I'd ever have a grave...
Ghost alarms start going off suddenly and the unmistakable sounds of the Fenton Parents start thundering towards them. Danny quickly turns back human and the whole class scatters as his parents burst in. No one outs Danny. They are actually nicer and body check Wes anytime he's close to outing Danny to anyone. Kwan is polite enough to explain the danger of outing Danny as a ghost when he lives with ghost hating parents after a while. Wes feels kind of dumb for not thinking about that and finally backs off.

Fenton’s right there—in the corner of the hallway, crowded between a row of dented lockers and his two ever-present shadows—the same as every other morning.
He’s still here—alive.
Dash swipes Fenton’s arm into a vice grip—he’s real; flesh and bone and blood that rushes to the surface of his skin, blossoming into patchy, mottled bruises. The sight of it has his hackles lowering—the white, crescent bite of blunt fingernails. His shoulders sag with each relief-filled breath. His grip loses strength and nearly falls to his side at the sight of the marks left behind by every single finger on his trembling right hand. The chill that runs up his spine whenever Fenton gets too close dissipates just a little, just enough for the faint trembling to cease.
Fenton is here—alive.
He has nothing to do with the bones buried beneath the twisting tree that had sprouted from nothing deep within the woods that lined the edges of Amity Park. He has nothing to do with the swaying branches that grow flowers the colour of Danny’s clear blue eyes, nor the roots that glow a sinister green as they coil their way around the carefully buried remains of a boy who had once been their age, laid to rest with a model rocket wound beneath one arm and a hazmat suit—charred and faded—tucked beneath the skull.
The flowers had held no scent and the swaying branches had made no sound, but its silvery leaves had offered shelter from the rain. Its gnarled trunk blocked the biting wind and its roots coiled protectively around the remains from which it had sprouted. The ground around it flourished, with moss carpeting the base of its trunk, growing healthy and vibrant, with mushrooms that grew in bioluminescent clumps that chased the shadows with a haunting glow.
It was a foreboding oasis not meant to be disturbed—a place that he and Kwan hadn’t meant to stumble upon.
But none of that mattered now. Not when Dash now knew for certain that Danny still cowered in the corners of Casper High’s crowded corridors. Now that he knew that the half-smudged writing childishly scrawled onto the base of the model rocket couldn't have possibly spelt out the name of the boy he'd known since his first day of school.
Not with the irrefutable proof seared onto Fenton's pale, freezing flesh.

Terrible Ways to Find Out your son has become a ghost: being attacked by his gruesomely crispy, zombified corpse because it was dropped through the Fenton Portal into the Ghost Zone and become extremely Ecto-Contaminated (much like the food you make.)

There is an unmarked grave.
A body lies in there. Six feet below.
There is an unmarked grave
with an unknown boy.
No. You knew that boy.
At least at one point.
There is an unmarked grave with your brother inside it.
How did this happen?
You pull out the shovel.
There is an unmarked grave.
But it will be alright.
You will bring him back.
